You can use single, dual, or double-bladed but unless you have a good reason as to why you already have a lightsaber the weapons given to you will be basic and little more than a tool. The students will eventually make their own personal lightsabers is what I'm saying.

As an example, Cori has a twin-bladed saber that she took from the Jedi she met, though one emitter is broken. I think Bei is trying to say you have to have a good reason to have an unusual saber at the start of the RP, Rev.

Doesn't say that anywhere in the OP

And the co-OP is saying that you should have a very good reason from deviating from the norm, which you can justify in your bio. I wouldn't argue this point: it's not that unreasonable for them to ask that you justify your decisions.

What Ceannai said. Wasn't denying the app because of the lightsabers or anything like that, but was merely stating that any lightsaber already on your person (with some exceptions) will be a borrowed/temporary lightsaber until you, the students, make your own (or repair them I suppose).

Concerning the OP, perhaps it could use some additional wording but this has been discussed between us OP/Co-OP's so I will alert Theyra to the problem. Regardless, if your idea was to already own a lightsaber for whatever reason you should at least make an attempt to justify it in the bio. It just makes sense that not everyone would already own a lightsaber before coming to the Academy.

Revlona wrote:I shouldn't have to justify other than thats his preferred combat style

This has nothing to do with combat preference. If you want to study with double-bladed lightsabers the Knights would give you one (or two) but I was merely stating they would be borrowed lightsabers until you make your own personal/custom lightsabers.

Why was his family going to Coruscant? Were they attacked near Ojom or in the Core Worlds, and if the latter how could pirates freely operate that deep in Imperial Territory? How did they escape the pirates? How did they end up on Tatooine? What was Savarian rescued from? How did the Jedi know Savarian was Force-sensitive? Why does he use such an unusual style? None of the Jedi Knights can teach him that. You mention him being a strong combatant and Force user. Justify the former and expand on the latter.

You have some grammatical issues. Sold into slavery on Tatooine and working on Pods sounds awfully familiar, just saying, but the bio is a bit better. Concerning his strengths, while having a strong connection to the Force is okay maybe limit his effectiveness in lightsaber combat. He's only recently been freed so doubtful he's had practice until now. I'll allow Theyra or another Co-OP to look over the app.

Can I make a recommendation? Just because other people don't know his history, doesn't mean he doesn't know it himself. Anything you write in your bio is knowledge only your character has, unless you choose to reveal it to others. So starting it with "no one knows his history" is a little simplistic, since it leaves almost too much to the imagination and doesn't really fill out your characters personality and background. If writing bios is tough, just try to ask and answer simple questions in paragraph format: where was he born? What was his family like? Did he have any siblings? Who was responsible for his education? It makes the writing thicker and gives you more to rely on when writing your character later in the IC.

Apologies this took so long, but it's finally done!

Application

Name: Cialle Che'Kerail

Age: Forty-six

Gender: Female

Species: Voss

Appearance:
Image

Rank: Knight

Background: Cialle was born in the Core, picked out by the Jedi as having potential and then taken to Coruscant for training before she had mastered walking. So it was for so many children, and like them Cialle grew up gripped by an unshakeable belief that the Jedi were perfect, unassailable. She was unassuming in her studies, mediocre in every way yet still sufficiently competent that she was never at risk of being kicked out of the Academy. She enjoyed her studies, her communal with the Force, and she did all that she could with them, but she was never gifted, nor sufficiently motivated to be recognised.

She was still a Padawan when the Clone Wars broke out, but she was a Jedi and thus found herself fighting on the frontlines. Throughout the war she accompanied her Master throughout dozens of warzones in the name of peace, freedom and democracy, liberating and defending world after world. Throughout it all, she watched as the Jedi who had taught her became increasingly militaristic, the Order slowly losing its way as the war stripped them of the principles they fought to uphold. She watched it all, and when the killing blow came she shed no tears for the Jedi. She had mourned the Jedi Order long ago.

She still wept for her Master.

Now on the run, she survived by letting the Force guide her every move. She threw herself even further into her meditation, even forgoing meals as she desperately scrambled to understand when she would be forced to flee once more. She opened herself entirely to the Force, and managed to scrape past the forces searching for her time and again. As the resources used to hunt for the remaining Jedi became increasingly subsumed into hiding and constructing the Death Star, Cialle began to have more and more time between frantic escapes from the Empire. Time to reflect on what was being built around her, in the ashes of the Republic she fought to defend.

It wasn't long before she was on the move once more, travelling from system to system, planet to planet, searching for mentors with whom to complete her training. Slowly casting the net wider and wider, the Force guiding her from place to place, she managed to find a few, then a few more. Over time, she managed to extend her training to horizons she would never have thought possible from within the Jedi, roaming from the Kathol Rift to Kel Dor to learn all she could about the Force she had come to depend on for her very survival. If she'd had it her way, she would simply have continued to do that until the Empire collapsed.

Instead, she did a good deed. A single good deed - releasing a farmer jailed by the Empire on false grounds. But it soon snowballed, and within a month she found herself actively fighting against a vast and implacable enemy once more. And even though much of the hunt for the Jedi had been abandoned, there was still enough interest going around that Cialle found herself hard-pressed to keep the fight going. Once more, she was actively hunted, and once more she found herself leaning ever-more heavily on the Force to keep her alive as she flitted from one fight to the next.

And then, slowly but surely, the Rebellion started to gain the upper hand. The Death Star was destroyed, her pursuers were scattered and she found herself becoming ever-more integrated into a joint military-civilian venture. She protested that structure, of course, even as she ran missions for it, memories of the fall of her Order replaying in front of her eyes. But without the corrupting force of the Sith festering from inside, the Rebellion managed to come through and win the war. With the New Republic, and the New Jedi Order, coalescing into war-forged entities, Cialle joined the Order as a Knight, hoping to prevent a reenactment of the Clone Wars...

Lightsaber: A simple, green-bladed lightsabre.

Equipment: A set of robes, a wooden staff.

Skills:

  • Gazed Into The Force - Cialle almost always has her mind open to the Force, scanning the surface thoughts and emotions of those around her, searching for disturbances and probing the future and past for whatever secrets they may hold. Because of this, she has developed an incredible degree of sensitivity with the Force, as well as a good head for how to best adapt her abilities to new situations, which she has honed to a razor edge during her years on the run from the Empire. If there is trouble approaching, Cialle is often one of the first to know.

  • Exotic Training - Cialle has trained with everyone and anyone who she could find over the years. From the contemplative Baran Do sages to the primitive Shapers of Kro Var, she has seen the Force through dozens of lenses and perspectives and has shifted her own stance on the Force to match them. She has acquired dozens of styles and methods of using the Force which only small sects have ever used, and is capable of using them in conjunction with each other or the more basic Force powers to overcome almost any obstacle.

Weakness:

  • The Force Gazed Back - Cialle is almost always opened to the Force, and while that provides her with a great degree of vision it is also a glaring weakness. Even though she has spent years building up her mental defences her surface emotions are still on display for all the world to see, and most mental attacks would find her a surprisingly vulnerable target. In addition, she is prone to pushing her limits too far; gathering portents of the future, flicking through thoughts and memories and probing for disturbances at the same time can be too much even for her.

  • Oversight - Cialle is exceptionally good at using the Force to solve the problems around her, but more often than not they can be just as easily solved with simpler solutions. In short, Cialle uses the Force as a crutch and her problem-solving skills break down if she is placed in a situation where her Force abilities cannot help her. Despite having been raised around gadgets and gizmos, nowadays she barely even possesses a basic level of competence with technology. This has been exacerbated by the loss of her fighter, the only piece of technology she ever cared for as much as her lightsabre.

While I did say you could use any lightsaber, I did not expect you do have two double-bladed lightsabers off the bat. Stick with a single lightsaber for now and for the rest of the app. Several grammar and spelling issues. The bio can be more detailed about his life. The skills and weakness are bare. Plus, while your only skills are strong in both the force and lightsaber combat. He is still a padawan and should still be learning. Not this good after at right now. If you stick with those two skills then you need a good weakness or two to balance it out. In the app's current state I can not accepted it. You need to correct the grammer and spelling issues, I would recommend a more detailed bio and better skills and weakness.

Well.
As awesome as it sounds, I don't think duel weilding duel-bladed lightsabers is a good idea. Especially not for a padawan.

Yes, you can train with whatever variety of saber you want within reason.

So, I looked up who that is, and it's the same species as the character you're creating. Isn't it a little on the nose to write a character who is the same species and fights with the same style as an existing SW character?

Sweet. I was thinking one of those sabers that is a dual-blade but splits apart would be cool. Probably a little advanced to start though.

Ooh, what if the blades had a Kylo Ren style effect?

Crossguard sabers are very much a thing in the expanded canon.
