National Overview: Quyhria is a sovereign confederation of states, unified under a common Islamic heritage. The nation's history dates back to 1,200 BCE, which saw the rise of the Bronze Age Urmayyan Empire and Civilization, and early Semitic kingdom known for its complex government bureaucracy and society, traits uncommon for most collective societies at the time. The civilization collapsed quickly after the bronze age collapse, starting the Urmayyan Dark Ages, from 800 BCE to 200 BCE. The age ended at that time when the kingdoms finally unified under Hassan the Great, who unified the warring city states and kingdoms into the Neo-Urmayyan Empire. The newly established empire expanded inward, contacting the peoples who inhabited the area and subjugating them. The empire has quick to fracture in 20 BC, following an unable period of civil wars over various succession crises.

The territory unified again, but this time under Ayyub the Magnificent, in 1227 AD, who claimed to be a direct descendent of Mohammed (the region was islamified over the centuries). The Ayyubite Caliphate continued to prosper until 1241, following Ayyub's death, which saw over a decade of civil war that threatened the empire's stability. The empire managed to pull things together under Ibrahim Abdulrashid in 1257, one of Ayyub's major generals, who unified the empire under the Abdulrashid Dynasty. The empire continued to thrive and exist for severalmhundred years until the 1700s, which saw colonial powers subjecting the empire to harsh treaties and the temporary cession of various ports. This period of humiliation was followed by a period of corruption and slow loss of faith in the theocratic monarchy. Finally resulting in the March Revolution, which overthrow the monarchy in a civilian-backed military coup and established the authoritarian one-party state that the modern era has come to recognize.

  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: While minority religions are discriminated against to varying degrees nationwide, the government has tried to limit discrimination, which has worked to some extent, but overall religious discrimination is still an enduring issue
  • General population's view on atheism: Atheists aren't hated, and are always excepted
  • General population's view on abortion: The population is strongly against abortion
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): All races are viewed as equals
  • Any big prejudices in your nation Only religious ones, and they're not that major
  • View on immigration into country: Immigration isn't prohibited. However, specific nationalities have either been banned from entering the country or have their flight options limited to a few major cities.
  • Women's Rights: Gender barriers have destroyed in their entirety. Woman are viewed as equals by most in society and the government
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:Alcohol is banned in some cities but is legal to buy in most of country. Tobacco and Pot is also legal. Most drugs are illegal in most places nationwide, with only a few settlements legalizing it for recreational uses

National information
Official Name: Regnum Aquilae
Shortened Name: Kingdom of Aquilae, Kingdom of Aquila
Requested Location: https://imgur.com/a/kDt6G (Southern Euclea)
RP Population: 1 Million
Culture: This culture of the island is very traditional, where emphasis on duty and family is prominent. It is also a very religious society, and a very conservative one. Change is frowned upon by the vast majority of the people, as everyone enjoys the stability that they have enjoyed for centuries.
  • Ethnicity: The vast majority of the island is ethnically Aquilian, which is mostly !Italian and but has a few !Iberian elements- think !Sardinian. There are also small Carcosan, !Italian and !Iberian minorities.
  • Religion: Solarian Catholicism. It permeates all aspects of society, and so deeply intertwined with the culture that it is now virtually inseparable from the culture. It traces back from the very early days of the Church, and was converted by and later was the exile location of John the Apostle. With the King being crowned by the Pope, the Kingdom often acts on the side of the Church in every political aspect. Nearly everyone is Catholic, although to differing degrees. Nearly every community has a Church, and nearly everyone goes to Mass regularly. It is a bastion of Traditional Catholicism, still practicing the Old Latin Rites before the Second Tibernum Council. It is also the world’s premier leader on Scholastic and Catholic theology and philosophy, it being it’s primary study and interest, which attracts a few foreign students. The Archbishop of Aquila is a prestigious office and one of the most important in the Church. There are some other faiths practiced by immigrants to the island, but the percentage is statistically negligible. Most immigrants chose to convert in order to assimilate.
  • Languages: There are two major languages on the island, both comprising the Aquilian language, though they are vastly different. “High” Aquilian is equivalent to medieval Latin, and is the language that was brought by the Solarian conquerors. It remains the official language of the Kingdom. However, few people actually speak it, and it is really only used as an academic language, used for official titles, functions, and Catholic liturgies. The unofficial but commonly used language of “Low” Aquilian is the most common language throughout the island. It is equivalent to real world Sardinian, and is akin to “High” Aquilian in different ways, though still it is different. Most Aquilians speak it, though in the recent years Galluican and other languages have become more prominent. This language came from the introduction of Latin to the peoples of the island, and how it mixed in with language of the natives, and as it progressed over time. There are different dialects throughout the island, however the island is not really big enough for there to be a major distinction. Most “Low” Aquilian speakers can understand other speakers of different dialects.
Government Type: Semi-Constitutional Monarchy
Head of State: Rex Gregorius XXXIII de Aquilia
Head of Government: Princeps Ioannes de Aquilia, Chancellor
National Overview: The history of Aquilia dates back long before the Kingdom was founded. The island was very close to the heart of the Solarian Empire, and thus was one of the first places in its conquest. The Solarian Empire overpowered the islanders and conquered the island around 300 BC. With them they brought order, structure, and the Latin language. It soon became an important core province of the Republic and later Empire, and was known for its loyalty and lack of rebellion, an easy product to rule. During the republic, the Patrician house of Aquila arose, which would give the name to the island and the chief city. During the Empire, in exchange for his support of the Emperor, the Aquila family was given hereditary governorship of the island. During the first century, the Apostle John came to the island and evangelized it. Almost the entire island accepted Catholicism, including the Governor and his family. St. John, after his attempted execution miraculously failed, would be exiled to the island. Here he would finish his Gospel and his Apocalypse until his natural death. For the most part the loyalty of the island to the Emperor gave it special exception from the persecutions that happened throughout the rest of the Empire, however, this would not last forever. Despite it’s steadfast loyalty to the Emperor, Emperor !Diocletian stripped the Aquila family of their governorship and drove the family into hiding and led to the martyrdom of St. Ioannes Aquila. Many Christians across the island were persecuted and killed; however, soon after !Diocletian came !Constantine, who legalized Christianity and brought stability back to the island, although the Aquila family was not restored to power.

The Solarian Empire would collapse, and with it the island fell into turmoil. After the Empire fell, the island fall into a period of warfare and competing factions for 30 years, compounded with barbarian invasions both following and after the fall of the Empire. Most of the warfare occurred between the great families of the island, which had been governors or patrician families of the Empire, with no side being able make lasting, successful gains. After 30 years of warfare, the Patrician Gregorius of the House of Aquila managed to unite the fighting families under his rule, and asked for the Pope to officially put an end to the crisis. The Pope happily accepted and proclaimed and crowned Gregorius as “Rex Aquiliae”, solidifying his rule over the island officially, on December 27th, 500, the feast of St. John the Apostle.

Even after uniting, the Kingdom would have to deal with continued barbarian invasions. (Need more info about barbarians), although the Kings managed to hold on to power. However, the island had developed its own culture and language over time, although keeping Solarian in use in its liturgies and academia. Overtime, most of the barbarians that stayed were assimilated into the Aquilian culture and language. As the years progressed, the Kingdom survived, though it not without trouble. Two succession crises occur (Succession Crisis Breakdown: https://imgur.com/a/XxEHw ), but the male line of the House of Aquila managed to hold on to power.

The relationship with the papacy would be maintained throughout the centuries. In exchange for Papal Support, it also sometimes acted as the temporal protector of the Papacy, such helping to protect the city of Solaris from a Salamic raid in 846. The Salamic forces raided the island itself in 850 for plunder They would participate in the Crusades, and would support the Solarian Pope in the !Great Western Schism. Also, a native of the island, St. Dominic, would found the Ordo Praedicatorum, or the Order of Preachers, also known as the Dominican order, an order known for their mission to preach the Gospel and to fight heresy, which would give rise to their prominence in the Middle Ages. The Middle Ages would end up being the height of Aquila, it’s “golden age”. Also during this time the University of Aquila was founded in 1110, and although it could never compete with other Euclean universities in terms of the other studies, it was and still is renowned for its Theological and Philosophical studies, being the premier place to study Catholic, in particular scholastic, Theology and Philosophy. St Thomas Aquinas, St. Bonaventure, St. John of the Cross, St. Albert the Great and St. Peter Canisius would at some point or another would study or teach there for a time.

However, as society modernized, problems arose. The transition out of feudalism led to conflicts between the nobility and the monarchy. The last major conflict the Kingdom would see would be the Aquilian Civil War two hundred years ago, when the nobility, who felt their old power being stripped away, tried to strip powers away from the monarchy. It would be this bloody civil war that would result in an ultimate victory for the monarchy, retaining supreme legal authority over the entire Kingdom, although the nobility still retained their titles and prestige. Although it remained neutral in the Great War, and was never invaded primarily because of its insignificance. However, the fortunes of war seemed to be shaping up against monarchy, and so the King, in a desperate move to keep his people safe from the tides of war, drafted a Constitution and established a legislature. In fact, it remained at peace throughout the turbulent 20th century.

The greatest contention point was not even political, but spiritual. After the Second Tibernum Council concluded in the 1960s, Aquila was the only country in the world that did not adopt the New Missal or the “Spirit of Tibernum II” changes, but rather implemented the Council’s changes as written. Some of the liberal international bishops took this issue to the Pope, but upon investigation and defense from the Aquilan theological community, the Church officials realized that they had actually implemented the Council, the Pope quietly gave them an indult to celebrate the Traditional Mass, and !Pope Benedict XVI would later confirm the right to attend the Traditional Mass for the universal church in the document Summorum Pontificum. Because the changes that plagued other countries did not happen and liturgical abuse was rooted out, the Church on Aquila would not suffer the devastating demographic effects on the Church, especially to religious orders.

However, despite these events, it would continue to be mostly stable throughout its existence. Throughout the rest of the twentieth century new ideologies and thought were spread to the country. However, despite a few minor uprisings and revolutionaries, for the most part these ideologies failed to really incite the people. This is largely possible because the Faith so firmly rooted in the country prevents this, as for most of the people their political ideology is simply “being Catholic.” This is shown in the political parties, where both progressives and conservatives have parties just related to being Catholic. Conservatives comprise the majority of the country. Also concerning are the emerging powers of southern Euclea, who are much stronger both economically and militarily. Unlike other countries, there is no system of public education, entitlements or healthcare (with the exception of the University of Aquila, which is supported by the Crown). Rather, all of these are supplied by the Church, either through the Diocese or through Religious Orders. The government supports this by supporting the Church, and tithes are still collected. Due to the contact and aide the religious orders have with the poor, providing shelter, care, and education, the poor actually tend to be socially conservative and generally support either of the Catholic parties. See political parties (on the doc here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Vrf ... sp=sharing ) for the ideological breakdown of the society.

The government, under the Constitution of 1933, is headed by the King himself. Assisting him are the Council, a collection of advisors who advise the Kings in different matters. The King has the authority to pass laws, known as “edicts” if passed unilaterally (though the King actually making laws in modern day is very rare). The legislature, known as the Senate, is a legislature of 100 men elected by the populace, headed by the Chancellor, who is appointed by the King. Senators serve lifelong terms, and elections are held in the province only if one resigns or dies. The legislature primarily deals with legislation, although all must be signed by the King, otherwise they do not take effect.

As it goes forth into a new millennium, the Kingdom just hopes to maintain its way of life from those who seek to destroy it. The way of life that the people see as immemorial are deeply entrenched in the people. For most people, the King is the living embodiment of the country, of tradition, of continuity. There are those who claim that the monarch is a tyrant, and those who think that nobility and monarchy are evil and that wealth must be shared, even call for it in the Senate. However, for the King, his concern lies mostly with the exterior world, as he is concerned that his island is easy prey for those who want to ruin the Aquilian way of life.

Philip had finished yet another campaign. After returning from Burgundy, he had been campaigning all around the Outremier. Enforcing order and compliance with the law and stamping out all resistance, he had finished bringing the Outreimer for the most part under his rule. The last battle had been a former Mamluk warlord who lived in the Negev desert and raided the nearby city. They had been no match for Philip's army. By this point, all the men who wished too had been sent home or were garrisoned. Those who were left in his army were battle-trained, and fiercely loyal to him. When out on campaign, he chose not to enjoy the luxuries he could so easily obtain. Instead he lived as his men did. He ate with them, drank with them, fought with them. He slept on a soldier's cot. By this point, gambling and rowdiness had been virtually eliminated from the army. These men had fought for years under his command, and had seen everything. They were serious men, with complete trust in their commander, who had been to hell and back with them.
Emperor Philip rode into the city of Jerusalem at the head of his army. To the citizens of Jerusalem, no longer was Philip a conqueror, but rather seemed like a man weary yet determined. He seemed well older than he actually was. He was only 35 years, but he looked as if he was decades older. No longer was he "Philip the handsome". Almost all of his hair was grey, and he was sporting a beard that had not been shaved in a long time. As he rode through the city, people stood in the streets, gazing at this man who was their King and Emperor. He seemed a weary man, worn through many trials and storms, but carried a steely fire in his eyes that showed his determination, that he was still ready to fight. Reaching the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, he paused outside and gazed up at it. The most sacred place in Christendom, having both the place where Christ died and rose again- he had been there before, but it always gave him pause every time he came. He dismounted, and told his guards to wait outside, as he would like some time to himself within the Church.
Inside the Church itself, he was utterly alone. He walked through the hallowed halls, his footsteps echoing in the silence. In here, he was no Emperor. In here, he was no King. In here, he was merely a humble pilgrim, one of the many, many who came to show their love of God and contrition for their sins. He was a sinner, just as much as any man, and he so desperately needed God's forgiveness. Of course, even on campaign, he had Mass everyday with his personal chaplain and confessor, and whenever he could read through the Sacred Texts, the writings of the Saints, as well as other secular works. But there was something more profound about being alone in the most holy space in all of Christendom. He walked up the steps of cavalry, mediating on the Passion of His Lord. Without realizing it, he soon realized his was climbing the steps on his knees. Eventually, having passed the Chapel of the Franks and the Chapel of the Nailing of the Cross, he came to Calvary himself. At this point, on his knees he began to weep. 'If so a great a God would do all of this for me, a humble sinner', he thought as the tears streamed down his face.
As he prayed, all of his concerns and fears washed over him. He laid at the feet of his Savior all the things that burdened him and troubled him. Managing the largest domain in the world, the pressures of ruling were enormous. Every day new troubles and new issues were brought before him, even on campaign. He thought of his men. All of the men who fought with him, who trusted him with their lives. How could men do such things? He thought of all the men who died under his command. It was not uncommon that he would be with one of his men in the hospital tent during their last moments. He thought of his family, now scattered. His lovely wife Joanna ruling Spain in his stead and raising their son Charles, their daughters Eleanor and Isabella, and his young boys Francis and John. His son Ferdinand was in Constantinople, learning how to rule and manage an empire, with his sister Mary to keep him company. He missed all of them. When Ferdinand was older he hoped to train him in the art of war. But his demesne was so large, he would probably never get to teach Charles quite what he wanted too. He trusted his wife to raise Charles into a good man. But he was unsure if Charles would understand his place and his duty; things he was trying to instruct to Ferdinand. He worried about what would happen after his death. Would his sons and their sons and their sons be pious, virtuous and true men, or would they let the vast power and wealth they inherit turn them to worldly pleasures? Would the Germans claim with his death the Eastern Empire illegitimate and seek to kill poor Ferdinand? Bearing these things in his heart, he lays them all before God.
As he was praying all of these things, he perchanced to hear these words very faintly: "My son, do not be troubled. Thy burden is great, thy yoke heavy. Draw closer to Me, and let Me into thy heart. Thou art beset with many troubles and concerns. Realize that, in Me, thou hast not the need to worry. Have faith in Me. I will set all things right. If thou wouldst trust in Me, I will give thee all that thou needest. Remember that nothing happens except through Me. If thou dwellest with Me, thou wilt see things not as man sees, but as God sees. Incline thy heart to Me, My son, and I will give thee rest, a perfect peace that only I can give."
Several hours later, Philip comes out of the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. His guards notice something is different. They ask him, "Your Majesty, is everything all right?" He turns towards them, and nods. A change seemed to have come over him. Whilst he seemed weary and overburdened before, he seemed free. His determination has not changed. At that moment, a messenger runs up and says to him, "Your Majesty, Turkish warlords have risen up again in Georgia and are rebelling against your rule." Philip nodded and said, "Well, men, it's time to do our duty, isn't it?"

A Man is a Democrat because he himself wants to rule, a man is a Monarchist because he wants to be ruled well.
“The best reason why Monarchy is a strong government is, that it is an intelligible government. The mass of mankind understand it, and they hardly anywhere in the world understand any other. ” Walter Bagehot

MAJOR INFASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT MOVING TO HOINGTAU

The government of Eisenkuste was happy to announce today that re-development programs have finished work in Steinhafen and will be moving to
the major agricultural city of Hoingtau. In partnership with Asterian-based corporations such as Davenport Cigarettes, who will be charged
with modernizing the iconic tobacco plantations of the city, and numerous construction contractors, a estimated "1-2 year" re-development
program will be sweeping the city in order to revitalize it's failing industries. Roads will be replaced, old factories will be given modern
upgrades and all mines in the city will be given extensive rework and safety checks/precautions.

Hoingtau experienced a major economic boom in the 1960s/70s due to increasing demand for products imported from the resource-laden city, but in
recent years the city has dried up and has faded into obscurity in response to higher-quality exports coming from countries such as Asteria. Many
in the city believe the change has occured due to lack of safety standards and lower demand for the cities exports. One factory worker in southern
Hoingtau has been quoted saying "No one wants to invest in a company whose factories could fall apart at any time."

Hoingtau residents response to the massive project has been mixed.

One such resident, Angelika Tresa, owner of a small bakery in central Hoingtau, had this to say. "We have elected Overseer Hamlin, what, twice now
based on promises of this project? As much as I am happy it finally came to Hoingtau, but everywhere I go, now I see foreigners building things.
Closing down our streets for roadwork. It's like they're taking over. Should the people of Eisenkuste not be working on this project,
instead of hiring others to do it for them? I feel like we're selling our souls for profit in this city."

A resident of rural Koingsburg, in southern Eisenkuste, and also speaker for the Agrarian Labor Party, Arnold Zeling, had this to say. "The big cities are the only parts of the country the
government the government likes. Sure, give Hoingtau all the nice new plantations. Do we, in the small villages who produce the very metal, get new roads?
No. Do we get safety inspectors looking in every nook and cranny? No. Do we get recognition for our own failing industries, which fuel Steinhafen's shiny
little ships in it's "legendary" ports. When our mines collapse and Steinhafen can't give the contractors shiny new ships and no one can fortify the buildings,
then this project will fall dead the tracks. Remember that."

The "National Revitalization Program" is a hallmark of the ruling Stahlleute (Steel People) party platform and it is expected that Hoingtau's development will be a major
part of the parties 2018 re-election campaign. Overseer Hamlin is expected to win the parties nomination for 2018 and run for a third term of Overseer.

Some points raised by some members of the region; "The app has way too many cultures, and too much coastline. Arabs, or Afro-Arabs, make sense on the coast or the deserts it hasn't claimed but most of it should be Bahian of some sort. Pop is fine depending on what his geography is, though history'd have to change along with culture, esp. since IIRC most of that area was fully colonised by Gaullica and other Euclos rather than being a la China with unequal treaties."

If seeking to be more Arabic, we'd recommend more inland bits.

National information
Official Name: Grubalevian Tsardom (Грубалевское Царство, Grubalevskoye Tsarstvo)
Shortened Name: Grubalevia
Requested Location: Central Euclea, south of Ostrozska and east of Wazovia
RP Population: 45-65 million
Culture:
  • Ethnicity: A large majority of the population is Marolevic, itself subdivided in Grubalevians (Russians), Marosenks (Belarusians) and Masskians (Ukrainians). A few Atudites minority are present.
  • Religion: The dominant religion is Epismialism Sotirianity, with other Sotirian denominations being present (notably Catholicism).
  • Languages: Russian is the main language of the country, with Ukrainian and Belarusian being spoken in their autonomous regions.
Government Type: Unitary parliamentary constitutional monarchy
Head of State: Tsar Dmitry V
Head of Government: Premier Konstantin Nekrestyanov
National Overview: Once being a regional power in central Euclea, Grubalevia soon found its relevance fading away as it failed to embrace industrialisation and other trends sweeping the continent from the 18th century onwards, leaving it a stagnating agrarian state in the heart of Euclea. The monarchy's continued unwillingness to concede to nothing but the most limited of political reform culminated in its overthrow by liberals, leftists, and moderate conservatives in 1906. Despite enjoying considerably support in its early years, constant political infighting and continued instability turned popular opinion against it - and it came as a surprise to no one when a military coup by disgruntled monarchist generals met little opposition in 1919. Initially by the now re-established monarchy, the military dictatorship wrestled power away from both the monarchy and the parliament, most notably creating the Union for Salvation of Grubalevia (Soyuz za Spaseniye Grubalevii, SSG) in order to legitimise their rule.

The regime found itself on the winning side of the Great War and was able to finish consolidating its power by either integrating or banning other parties, officially establishing a single party state with the SSG. Following the death of the tsar Yury II, the monarchy was sidelined too and no successor was appointed - finally cementing the SSG as the sole unchallenged power in the country. Originally formed as a pragmatic rightist platform to support the military dictatorship, it decidedly took an turn to the far-right in the post-war era, after the guiding ideology was elaborated upon with support from prominent ideologues and rapprochements wit the church. The ideology was defined by nationalism, totalitarianism, clericalism, militarism, conservatism, anti-leftism and anti-liberalism. The increasingly radical regime found itself growing alienated from its former allies and from a growing international isolation. After a few years of slow liberalisation of the country, ta combination of international sanctions, internal dissent and interparty troubles led to the fall of the regime, which officially relinquished power following a referendum in late 1999 - a final bid to retain power.

Despite maintaining the façade of a somewhat functional democracy today ever since the end of the SSG, everything is all but fine in Grubalevia. A figurehead monarchy was formally reinstated following a hotly-debated referendum, but many point at irregularities in the process and accuse the government of fraud. Corruption is widespread at every level of society. Once-suppressed separatists sentiments are growing, and relations between the central government and the autonomous region are deteriorating quickly. Former members of the SSG have escaped prosecution thanks to the terms of the handover of power, and many of them retain their post up to this day, often suspected of being more loyal to the previous regime. The economy is still in the hand of a select few, often SSG collaborators who would've succeeded without the dictatorship's support. The sudden downsizing of the state and security apparatus has led many of those former employees to find a new career in organised crime. Grubalevia is at a crossroad - many would like to see the country continue on the road to democracy with the ultimate goal of joining the Euclean Community - but on the opposite side, the chaos and instability that have plagued the new democracy have led some to long for a return of the safe and secure society once provided by the SSG, one way or another.

Social views: Despite the end of state-sponsored conservative (if not reactionary) values and a growth of liberal social views since the transition to democracy, the legacy of the dictatorship is still present, helping increasing the societal divide. Urban areas tend to be more socially liberal than rural ones.
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Homosexuality is legal, same-sex marriage is not. There is still stigma against homosexuality, although it's easing up with time.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Other Sotirian denominations are tolerated, although some still view them with suspicion as they are "of foreign origin". Other religions are generally viewed with even more suspicion.
  • General population's view on atheism: Despite being a growing minority, there is still mistrust towards atheists.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is legal for most reasons, but still frowned upon socially.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Discrimination towards other races is frequent, especially towards Bahians. Atudites have historically been targeted and this continue up to this day.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation:
  • View on immigration into country: While immigration isn't a major issue, it is generally seen in a negative light
  • Women's Rights: Women nominally have equal rights, but sexism is still very much of an issue.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Harsh drug policy, alcohol and tobacco are popular.

In recognition of how difficult it can be to apply to a region which has undergone several reboots, and for which the info on what is and isn't canon is relatively difficult to find, we've put together a help sheet which should answer some questions and provide some direction when applying.

National information
Official Name: Republic of Eurevoia
Shortened Name: Eurevoia
Requested Location: The “two plots” right under the Federation

RP Population: 39,612,987
Culture: Large native population serving as a combination of different Native groups, along with a large Athiran population.
  • Ethnicity: Althiran, condensed in the East.
  • Religion: Primarily Sotirianism-- Catholic, to be specific. The majority of the Native population follows a variety of Native faiths.
  • Languages: Primarily Althiran and Estmerish (due to Federation influence on the country), though natives speak a combination of different languages.
Government Type: Starts of as a Monarchy (1885-1912), though it was overthrown by the Federation due to their support to the Confederation of Independent States. Today, the country is a federal presidential representative democratic republic.
Head of State: President Morys Griffiths
Head of Government: Vice President Alwena Blood
National Overview: as of 2018, the Republic of Eurevoia, located south of the Federation and north of Marirana, maintains observer status in the Joint Defense Force (JDF). It maintains strong political and economic ties with the Federation and Roeselle, and historically-peaceful relations with Marirana, though the recent escalation of conflict in the country derived from the country's ramped drug and cartel problem has seen relations gradually decline, as Eurevoian government officials often blame Marirana for their drug crisis. The country's President, Morys Griffiths of the National Traditionalist Party, runs Eurevoia under a policy of fiscal conservatism and neoliberal economic policies, while his foreign policy is dictated by pro-JDF rhetoric-- propelling the country to work towards member-status.

Recent years have seen Eurevoia take a number of steps to curb the flow of drugs - namely cocaine and opioid-based illicit substances - into the country. Strict "no tolerance" policies have been adapted by the Griffiths Government, including harsh sentencing for drug dealers, smugglers, and hefty punishments for users. Though, this has sparked some political issues as many in the country appose such drastic measures.

In most senses, Eurevoia is regarded as a developed country. The majority of the nation's roads are paved, the country excels in literacy rates and healthcare is widely available due to the Universal healthcare system-- though the quality doesn't match Roessan and Asterian systems. Eurevoia's military has grown in strength over the last few decades, and is well-equipped, as most of its equipment comes from the Federation. Their Army is experienced in mountain-based combat, though most of the focus tends to fall to the Navy, which has grown to meet the demand of drug smuggling and piracy.

    Social views:
    • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: allow gay marriage
    • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: overall non religious
    • General population's view on atheism: strong atheist views
    • General population's view on abortion: pro choice in the Welsh population and more anti in the native
    • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): view the natives as more primitive / inferior but overall no segregation
    • Any big prejudices in your nation
    • View on immigration into country: pro immigration from most nations especially northern allies with more hesitation from southern drug ridden country
    • Women's Rights: full women's right with little to no visible difference
    • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:
tobacco was banned sometime around 1970s and alcohol holds a strong cultural significants with Welsh and native population pot is legal in only a few southernmost majority native states and Is gently regarded as bad by most of the population any other drugs are strictly prohibited

Official Name: People's Revolutionary State of Nacau | Cyflwr Chwyldroadol Pobl yn Nacwn
Shortened Name: Nacau
Requested Location: In the light red
RP Population: ~8,000,000
Culture:
  • Ethnicity: They may change
  • Religion: An absolute multitude of religions and sects, though overall Sotirianity has a plurality. The state is officially secular, and pre-1990s was officially Atheist.
  • Languages: Althiric is the lingua franca and official national language, though a multitude of languages are recognised at the national language, as is Gaullican as the language of the International.
Government Type: Mohrist One-Party Anarcho-Syndicalist State
Head of State: President Merfyn Price
Head of Government: Premier 'Morgan' Vijya Munshif
National Overview:
Nacau is a One-Party state which is multi-ethnic and multi-religious, and is a member of the International. Though it is considered a One-Party state, under its constitution three separate 'Vanguard Parties' exist, although they largely adhere to Anarcho-Syndicalist thought and are often seen more as factions than true political parties. The state constitution declares that it is in a constant state of revolution until a stateless and classless society can be achieved, and until then it will structure itself according to Anarcho-Syndicalist thought. Recently it has undergone several reforms, democratising it slightly, though it is still criticised by liberal democracies for its perceived authoritarian government.

The island of Nacau, known to the natives as Naca'n, was first settled by Glytter in ????. Unlike other Arucian colonies it was not an economic possession, but rather a settler colony, and a significant Ghaillish community exists to this day. In the 1630s it was taken by Althira (by treaty, sale or war), though the Ghailles were given permission to stay, and few migrated. For Althira the colony was primarily economic, and imported slaves from Bahia toiled on sugar plantations, though slave revolts and communities in the hills were common. After the outlaw of slavery, Althira turned instead to indentured servants, primarily from Hyndana, but also from Songguo, Nematsu and Negara. This created a very multi-ethnic society, though Althirans and Ghailles largely ran and owned much of the colony.

The Althiran revolution of 1898 coincided with a revolution which saw a quasi-socialist party, comprised mainly of Baho-Arucians, take control of Nacau and accept Revolutionary Althira's promise of independence, which was to be delivered at the next year's congress. This never took place, as conservative elements within the society, including much of the remaining Ghaillish and Althiran communities, defeat the revolutionary government and unilaterally declare independence. The new Republic of Nacau quickly allied itself with the Federation and Roeselle, and fell prey to strongmen who, while rarely elected, held great power over the weak governments. In 1924 a clique of anti-Asterian military officers led by Pól Ó Branagáin couped the government and set up a military junta. This military junta began adopting National Functionalist ideas, and aid from Gaullica, though Ó Branagáin is rarely considered a National Functionalist himself.

The defeat of National Functionalist in 1935 saw Ó Branagáin and his junta left without any allies. 1938 saw the Battle of Manafon occur, in which 32 members of the Anarchist Labour Movement and People's Revolutionary Front were killed in protests turned riots. Ó Branagáin turned to the Federation for help against the growing socialist threat, but his earlier anti-Asterian posturing and National Functionalist tendencies, and the growing emergence of an armed democratic front against Ó Branagáin, pushed the Federation against him. By 1940 however the scene had changed, with an alliance between the three main socialist militias allowing them to dominate much of the inland, and their absorption through negotiation and conflict of many of the democratic groups. By 1941 Ó Branagáin's forces were losing ground, and his flight in May ended the revolution. He would flee to Glytter, like many other Ghailles, dropping their population in 1940 from 13% to 5.6% in 1980, though he would end up being prosecuted and serving a lengthy sentence for war crimes and violations of human rights.

Since May 1941 Nacau has been a One-Party Anarcho-Syndicalist state. The period of 1941-1982 saw a Baho-Arucian domination of government under Huw Chikelu, who in 1961 held the positions of Premier, President, General Secretary and Grand Marshal. In 1982, after suffering a stroke and spending time in Althira recuperating, Chikelu was deposed and held under house-arrest until 1998 when he died. Since then efforts have been made to prevent any individual gaining too much power, and there has been an opening up of political opportunities to many of the races. Discrimination towards natives and whites, which was common under the Chikelu administration, also began to decrease and by the 1990s was largely eradicated.

Since 1982 the President is voted in by referendum every five years, with each of the three parties allowed to nominate one candidate. The President acts as the Head of State, but has the power to veto any bill, though this can be vetoed by the Central Committee. The Central Committee is chosen through indirect referendum every four years, with voters voting on party lines, and then the parties choosing which of their members will sit on it. The General Secretary is elected unanimously by the Central Committee, and usually comes from the dominant party. The Central Committee reviews legislation from the General and Special Congresses, and has the power to amend or block bills. The Premier is the head of the State Council, the executive for the General Congress, which proposes legislation. The General Congress examines legislation, and votes in the members of the State Council and the Premier. 1/3 Members of the General Congress are chosen by their local syndicates, while the other 2/3rds are elected via national party lists. The Special Congress is an advisory body which also reviews legislation, but can only suggest amendments. Members are divided into ethnic and professional blocs, and since 1982 religious blocs also, and are chosen by their local syndicates.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Despite the progressive attitudes espoused by the Vanguard Parties, traditional attitudes prevented recognition of LGBT rights until the new millennium. Recent policies from 2010 have greatly expanded the rights of LGBT citizens, and raised awareness and education among the populace.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: The state is officially secular, and after the 1980s no longer practices discrimination against theists.
  • General population's view on atheism: Atheism is accepted, though it is no longer encouraged or endorsed by state policies.
  • General population's view on abortion: While abortion is universally available it is viewed negatively by the religious population which has grown since the 1980s.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): The state takes a negative view of attempts to segregate society by ethnicity or race and promotes a harmonic image of many races working together. In reality ethnic conflicts and communal arguments can flare up, but overall race and ethnicity tends not to be a problem.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation Prejudices vary from community to community, but largely national prejudices tend to be towards capitalistic nations, especially those nearby such as Roeselle, Satucin and the Federation. Citizens rarely act on these prejudices, but they are instilled from a young age through education.
  • View on immigration into country: Nacau is viewed, though not by the native population, as a blank slate which was formed by immigrants. Therefore the government welcomes immigrants, though it expects them to integrate with their political thought, adopt Althiric as it is the lingua franca, and work to better the country.
  • Women's Rights: Under law their rights are fully respected and they are completely equal, in practice it varies between communities and religions.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:
Tobacco and Alcohol are legal, while most drugs are illegal. The state has considered de-criminalising cannabis, but it is still viewed as a threat to communities by senior party members.

Official Name: The Federated Republics of Estmere
Shortened Name: Estmere
Requested Location: Estmere on map
RP Population: 62,519,373
Culture: Dominate is Estmerish (English). The North of Estmere is home to the Swathkin population, a Weranic ethnic group that is largely considered to be the first native peoples of modern-day Estmere. The Swathish peoples have their origins in Werania. The South of Estmere is home to the Fleurian population, a Gaullo-Norse group that conquered Estmere in the Xth century. These groups remain dominant in their respective regions today. However, in the [Greater Capital] Region and its suburbs in the [Northland] and [Southland] a third ethnic group, the Estmerish, is dominate. The Estmerish originated as a cultural fusion of the Verique and the native Swathkin after the Verique nobility began to adopt the language and customs of their Swathkin subjects in the North. Estmerish is considered the primary culture, with Swaithish] and [Verique] serving as secondary cultures. Estmerish is the most widely spoken language, with the greatest number of first and second language speakers. It is also the official language of the national government, while [Anglish] and [Jèrriais] are the official languages of their respective republics.
  • Ethnicity: IRL English, Anglo-Saxon, Norman
  • Religion: High Embrian Church (Anglicanism) and Low Embrian Church (Methodist) are in communion. Together they make up 35%ish. Majority is Agnostic. The Reformed Church of Estmere has roughly 8% of the population following it, mainly in the Swathish North.
  • Languages: Estmerish (English), Swathish (Anglish), Flurian (Jerrais)
Government Type: Federal parliamentary constitutional republic
Head of State: President Alice Roberts (Ind.)
Head of Government: Prime Minister Rupert Richardson (NUP)
    National Overview: Muh liberal democracy.

The Swathish peoples migrated southward from Werania. During the Xth century, after the Gaullican/Verloquian acquisition of the Hennish Counties, powerful Verique lords launched a series of conquests into Estmere, defeating the native Swathish petty kingdoms. Much of what constitutes modern-day Estmere came under the control of Verique lords, who were threw their support behind Richard Harcourt, the Count X. Estmere was first known as the Kingdom of Embria with Richard serving as its King. After [a certain amount of time] a devastating war for control over the kingdom broke out between claimants to the throne, which saw it fracture for several years. This conflict was known as the Anarchy and caused significant chaos. Many of the Harcourt heirs were killed in the fighting and those that survived remained unpopular for their role in the collapse of the country. Clovis Vernon, the Count X, managed to secure the support of a powerful group of nobles who formed the States Council. The council elected Clovis as its de facto leader and the nobles who participated swore their armies to him. Vernon then waged a campaign to reunite the shattered kingdom in which he saw success. This saw the establishment of the Commonwealth of the United Estmerish Counties. Through this “crowned republic”, the [Badass Parliament Name], which had evolved out of the States Council, would elect the Bailiff-General. Clovis was elevated to the Prince of Vernon. His dynasty remained dominant in what acted as a hereditary republic until XXXX. This led to the rise of a very powerful noble class of Verique origin, which overtime evolved into being culturally Estmerish. During the 19th Century, a series of liberal reforms under the reign of Richard VIII saw the republic reformed into the Kingdom of Estmere. The Parliament also became bicameral, with the hereditary Greater House and the elected Lesser House. The Kingdom was short lived and was abolished following a left-wing uprising after the Transitional Government re-established control over all of Estmere following Gaullican occupation. The Republic of Estmere was established in 1936, but was eventually reformed into the Federated Republics of Estmere in the 1950s. This saw the creation of the sister republics of Wealdland and Fleurland and a special capital territory, the [Greater Capital Region]. Despite the abolition of the monarchy, the aristocracy remained very powerful and makes up most of the societal elites.
    Political Overview
    Main Parties
The Progressives (Social Liberals/Sotrian Democrats) - Originated as a Sotrian Democratic Party with links to Sotirian trade unions throughout the North. Belongs to the Federal Appeal electoral alliance.
National Union Party (Social Conservatives) - Mainstream One Nation Tory with a traditionalist wing (think Jacob Rees-Mogg; very pro-aristocracy). Belongs to the Federal Appeal electoral alliance.
Democratic Labourer’s Party - Generally leftist, Nordic Socialist-esq. Similar track record to Democratic Party of Japan. Formed a coalition in the 1990s with smaller parties. Heavy infighting made its tenure messy.
Estmere First - surged to power after the 2000s recession and the downgrade of Estmere’s AAA credit rating. Very Euclosceptic and put a referendum up on Estmere’s membership in the Euclozone. The vote failed and the government collapsed, leading to a snap election.
    Minor Parties
The Party of the Swathkin - ethnic Swathkin. Minor role at the federal level, fairly prominent in local and provincial politics in Wealdland.
The Agrarian Interest Party - a la Centre Party of Norway
    The Co-Op Party - watered down co-operativists

    Social views:
    • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Homosexuality is generally accepted. Gay marriage has been legal since the 1990s and is non-controversial. However, people generally only accept the homosexual-heterosexual binary. As such, identities such as bisexuality, pansexuality, etc. are often erased or blatantly ignored. A binary is also accepted for gender identity, however generally trans* people are accepted as they play into this binary.
    • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: There is no primary religion.
    • General population's view on atheism: The majority of the population is irreligious.
    • General population's view on abortion: Generally accepted, though more traditional conservatives remain fiercely opposed.
    • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Acceptance comes with integration and conformity.
    • Any big prejudices in your nation Undecided
    • View on immigration into country: Immigration from non-Embrophone (Anglophone) or non-Eastern Euclean countries is generally frowned upon.
    • Women's Rights: Women enjoy a largely equal standing to men.
    • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:Tobacco and alcohol are legal and heavily consumed. The decriminalization of marijuana is being debated, but many believe it to be a gateway drug. All other recreational drugs remain illegal to purchase or sell.

Official Name: Eirangaarder Commonwealth - Iräännjurdiik Sünnörejj
Shortened Name: Eirangaard - Iräännjurd
Requested Location: Sandwiched in-between Rhakahataa and Cheospetia, maybe also an extremely small border to Wazovia
RP Population: 32 million
Culture: Eirangaarder Culture is quite similar to that of Finnish Culture, though their language is an isolate that has no confirmed living relatives. The First Eirangaarders were an unknown people group that inhabited the area until 4,000 BCE which saw the migration of Eucleans there. The two groups lived in relative harmony and commonly intermarried, giving birth to modern-day Eirangaarders.
  • Ethnicity: The Eirangaarders/Iräännjurdiikäi. An isolate group of unknown genealogy (largely due to the mystery of the original inhabitants). Heavily influenced by Finnic Cultures. Several unknown, but prevalent, minorities that I'm yet to fully establish
  • Religion: Öjükündr - The dominate native religion of the Eirangaarders that I'm yet to fully establish.
  • Languages: Eiran
Government Type: Crowned Republic - King is still able to exercise power
Head of State: Sääjorkë (King) Süliääjr II, President TBA
Head of Government: Sänëtjörkrääl (Senate Speaker/Speaker of the Senate) TBA
National Overview: Eirangaard is a Constitutional Crowned Republic located in Western Euclea. The nation's history begins in 200~ BCE (1 ËS - Ëyköndjkürsjögr/Eacangcor's Conquest, Eirangaarder Calendar) with the uniting of the chiefdoms and tribes under Ëyköndjkür (known as Eacangcor in English) the Great, following a warring period. He created the First Kingdom of the Eirans (Üyrdräägrödrrirään) which oversaw the first Eiran Golden Age. The kingdom continied to prospee until 12 AD, which saw its fall at the hands of invading tribes and hostile kingdoms to the east, along with internal fighting. The kingdom broke into hundreds of smaller kingdoms, duchies and city-states that started battling each other for land and power.

This era came to an abrupt end following a second conquest which saw the creation of the Second Kingdom of the Eirans in 1142. The Kingdom of Ösokköp became the uniter of the Eiran Peoples, making the kingdom the new nation's core, with Ösokköp its capital. The House of Lysörsköp, Ösokköp's rulingroyal family, were quick to claim to be the descendents of Eacangcor to help boost up their legitimacy. The kingdom endured several wars external wars, civil conflicts (a major one being the Great Schism or Eiran Religious Wars, caused by the splitting of the Öjükündr Church) and disputes concerning successors over its existence up until 1907 with the start of the Eiran Republican War, which saw Democratic Forces rising up against the monarchy as a result of recent monarchs' incompetent and/or oppressive leadership. The war ends in 1913 following a peace treaty which saw the merging of the two factions into the Eirangaarder Commonwealth

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Homosexuality is legal though their marriages aren't. Gays are commonly discriminated against by both the government and general public
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Eirangaard is officially secular following the Republican War and massive efforts were made to weaken religious influences in politics and ensure that all religioms are treated fairly and equally by the public and government. Though, specific religions (Salam, several Coian Faiths) are seen in a negative light
  • General population's view on atheism: Atheists are treated equally and fairly
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is a major and deeply debated issue in Eirangaard. Some provinces outlaw it in its entirety while in others its legal. Both the government and public are generally divided on equal lines on whether it should be banned outright across the nation or make it legal nationwide.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Eirangaard has sizable non-Eiran minorities (primarily in the eastern provinces). These peoples are sometimes discriminated against though the governmemt has tried to limit that.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation Only at select ethnic minorities in my borders
  • View on immigration into country: Immigrants from other countries and continents are welcomed and immigration is encouraged by the government
  • Women's Rights: Gender Inequality isn't a major issue and women have an equal opportunity in the work place and are generally viewwd as equals.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Most recreational drugs are legal

National information
Official Name: Nordane Realm
Shortened Name: Norday
Requested Location: Sveltlana’s island
RP Population: 36,478,697
Culture: Norday’s culture, as one would expect, has its roots in the Old Norse culture brought to the islands by Weranic peoples. Nordanian culture is traditional, albeit with social liberal tendencies evident with the native population prior to Christianisation. While not overtly xenophobic, society has historically been heavily pillarised along clans, although attempts at defusing this have been made to varying degrees of success.
  • Ethnicity: Varangians (consider the name WIP) are the dominant ethnic group. Minorities of Gayls, Weranians, and other TBD groups (that would be appropriate) are also present.
  • Religion: !Lutheranism has historically been important and the national religion. Other denominations of Sotirianity are present, notably Catholicism. In modernity, the majority of the Nordane populace is irreligious or “Christmas-Easter Sotirians,” with a growing minority of neo-pagans which subscribe to the Wiccan-Northern Germanic folk religion of old.
  • Languages: Nordanian (a North Germanic “constructed language” — really just Icelandic with pre-12th century Old West Norse spelling reformations) is the official language. Weranian (German?) is spoken in southern communities and Norn along the eastern coast.
Government Type: Unitary constitutional (elective) monarchy
Head of State: High Queen Gweýð IV
Head of Government: Lawspeaker Sigfrýður Wágadal æn Oistæýning
National Overview:
  • Politics: Norday could be considered a dominant party state, as Forward, Norday! (FN) has held power for most of the nation’s modern history, being in power from 1911-1920, 1942-2000, and 2007-Present. Forward, Norday! is a socially liberal, Nordic Socialist-esque party. Other political parties are: Sotrian Democratic Union (SDU) — a Sotrian democrat party currently in coalition with Forward, Norday! Since 2007; Civic Alliance (CA) — generic conservatives/one-nation tory; Citizens (B) — Euclosceptic libetarian party historically popular in the more rural northwest. Minor parties include the Green Party (G), Pirates (P), and the Republican Party (advocates the transition of Norday to a republic as opposed to the IRL Republican Party).
  • History: The islands have been inhabited by proto-Gayles, (possibly Sami?) and proto-Weranic peoples since the Iron Age. Weranics, being pushed north by the expanding Solarian Empire, gradually colonised the islands, giving way to the Varangian peoples. Over the coming centuries, Varangian pirates, marauders, etc. would raid much of northern Euclea. The threat of civil war in 891 C.E culminated in the Old Covenant, leading to the formation of the Stárading and the writing of the so-called Book of the Laws of the Isles, which enshrined the islands' laws. The Old Covenant lasted until the [War], where the threat of invasion by [Empire] led to the unification of the islands under Sólwyn I, who was proclaimed King by the Sacred Circle of the Isles on the Dísablót. Sólwyn's success in repulsing the invasion(s) ultimately led to cementing the monarchy.
-Civil War just prior to the outbreak of the Great War would see the monarchy abolished and an Integralist directorate republic took over. Would have fought with the Entente.
    -Post-war, monarchy restored, Integralism outlawed
-Joined EC in TBD year (possibly founding member? Just spitballing here)
Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Generally accepting of same-sex couples and same-sex marriage. Some discrimination is present in rural areas.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Generally indifferent.
  • General population's view on atheism: Same as above.
  • General population's view on abortion: Generally abortion is acceptable regardless of the circumstances. Naturally, there are some groups that would be opposed to it.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): See below.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation Continental Eucleans are viewed as being “soft” compared to Nordanians.
  • View on immigration into country: Generally accepting so long as the immigrants conform to Nordanian culture.
  • Women's Rights: Egalitarian due in part to pre-Christian Nordanian society
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Soft drugs are legal, while hard drugs have mostly been decriminialised. The nation’s mandatory drug rehabilitory “prisons” could be criticised as overly harsh as community work is often listed as part of the regimen. This community work takes the form of farming.

National information
Official Name: Confederated Kingdoms and Landgraviates of Waldeck-Sipellia
  • Verbündete Königreiche und Landgrafen von Waldeck-Zipelln
  • Sīpele-Valdeka Konfederālais Karaļvalstis un Landgrāfistes
Shortened Name: Waldeck-Sipellia
Requested Location: Between Wazovia, Vredlandia, and Ostrozska
RP Population: 52,420,069
Culture: Waldeck-Sipellia is a nation with a high ratio of ethnic, cultural, and linguistic diversity. It features aspects of both Couramian (Baltic) and Weranic cultures, sometimes blending the two to form a unique Waldosipellian tradition.
  • Ethnicity: Ethnically, Waldeck-Sipellia is mainly divided between Weranic and Couramian peoples, with Weranic Waldeckers at 54% and Sipellians at 39%. In addition to this, there are also small populations of Marolevic groups such as Ostrozskans (Czechs, at 4%), Emosians (Crimean Goths, at 2%), and Slesians (Silesians, at less than 1%).
  • Religion: Despite its cultural divisions, Waldeck-Sipellia is surprisingly homogenous in terms of religion, with nearly three-fourths of the population (72%) professing their belief in Lasdanian Orthodox Sotirianity. Other major religions include Solarian Catholicism (predominantly by the Marolev population) and other forms of Sotirianity; other religions as well as atheism also exist but are generally viewed negatively by the population at large.
  • Languages: Waldeck-Sipellia is just as linguistically diverse as it is in most other aspects of its culture. The country has two principal official languages: Weranian and Sipellian; these are the languages that are used in Confederate government documents as well as spoken in the Confederated Diet; most Waldosipellians are taught and expected to fluently speak both. Weranian is primarily spoken in the Kingdom of Waldeck and the surrounding landgraviates, with Sipellian being spoken in the Kingdom of Sipellia. Other spoken languages include Ostrozskan, Emosian, and Slesian; all of these exist as recognized regional languages in their respective areas.
Government Type: Waldeck-Sipellia is officially a confederation of nominally-independent states, but in practice it acts as a federal parliamentary constitutional monarchy. The House of Gerdauen holds the Confederated Crown, and also directly rules both the Kingdoms of Waldeck and Sipellia, the two largest states, in a Dual Monarchy-esque personal union. Despite this, the monarch has little actual power, and the powers of state are for the most part vested in the Prime Minister of the Confederated Diet, who serves as the actual head of government.
Head of State: King Gregory V (Weranian: Gregor V, Sipellia Gregors V)
Head of Government: Prime Minister Paul Reinhard von Graefe (WFP)
National Overview: The origins of Waldeck-Sipellia are with the migrating Couramians, who settled themselves in eastern Sipellia in the 1st century BC. The Weranians, migrating westward from modern-day Werania, would soon follow, arriving in modern-day Waldeck the 400s. Although the Couramians established a vast empire known as the Grand Duchy of Loṭuye, this quickly fell to infighting, with the Sipellians splitting from the Loṭuyans and forming their own kingdom as early as the 11th century. The Weranians fell to similar infighting, however they were unable to unify to any significant extent, forming a variety of different kingdoms, duchies, landgraviates, and archbishoprics, all competing for resources in the barren flatlands of the region. In the early 1500s, city-states such as Ponewiesch/Panevēža and Angerapp/Angerapa became important cultural and economic centers; being on the border between Sipellia and the Waldecker states, several conflicts would be fought over this region in the next few centuries, seeing the coalescence of and fall of numerous states and dynasties. This continued up until the early 1700s, when Ivor the Great of Sipellia decisively defeated a broad coalition of Weranian-speakling Waldecker states, annexing a large chunk of territory up to the River Memel (the modern-day border with Vredlandia). The Sipellian Margraviate became, for a brief time, one of the regional powers on the northern coast of Euclea, wit hte Sipellians dominating in government, much to the ire of the Waldecker landed aristocracy. This order was disrupted by the not!Napoleonic Wars, in which the Margraviate was dismantled and broken up into a power-sharing confederation. Several decades later, the 1840s would see a series of internal conflicts that convinced the governments that union was preferable in the face of domestic crises, famines, and meddling of foreign powers. In a short conflict, the two most powerful kingdoms of Waldeck and Sipellia, having been joined in a controversial personal union, annexed several of the surrounding states to form Waldeck-Sipellia. The embarked on a process of fierce modernization in the late 1800s, and entered the Great War as a sizable military power. After the destruction wrought by the war, the nation could only be stabilized by the military, leading to the rise of strongman Maurīcijs Sproģis to power. Though Sproģis was credited with revitalizing a faltering economy and moving from an agricultural to a more industrialized economy, he was also accused of numerous human rights abuses committed to keep himself in power. After his death, the military's attempts to retain power were futile, and the country returned to pluralistic parliamentary democracy. (history will be updated/changed to fit the regional canon, of course)

Politically, Waldeck-Sipellia is largely centrist in nature. The Parliament is dominated by two big-tent formalized factions, the center-right National Alliance and the center-left Social Democratic Front; Prime Minister von Graefe, brought to power in the 2017 snap elections, is a member of the Waldecker Progress Party, part of the SDF. These alliances encompass a wide variety of differing ideologies, from federalists and autonomists to centralists and so-called "one-nation nationalists" (not to be confused with the RL Tory faction). The country is part of the Euclean Community; however politicians have become more outspokenly Euclosceptic in recent years.
Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Civil unions are legal in Waldeck-Sipellia, however there is an increasingly-growing movement to legalize same-sex marriage. The general population is split on the issue; some favor the Church’s official position on the issue while others are either ambivalent or in favor; the amount of homosexuals in the country are relatively low in number but are not usually openly discriminated against.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Although devoutly Sotirian, other Adamite religions are generally accepted by the majority of the population, although Sotirian proselytism is commonly targeted towards these minority communities. Other faiths are respected but are not always viewed positively, with conservative groups sometimes organizing protests against them (these are considered fringe groups, however).
  • General population's view on atheism: Atheism is almost universally viewed negatively by most, although this ranges from outright hostility to a more-commonly held general mistrust. Atheist public figures are few and far between.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion, with the exception of fetal defects or endangerment of the mother's life or health, is outlawed in the country, although there have been substantial calls for relaxation of these laws in recent years. Pro-abortion activists are growing, although the subject remains taboo with a significant portion of the population.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Being the multiethnic, multicultural state that it is, inter-Waldosipellian ethnic relations have had historically tense relations, but has today evolved into a more pluralistic society, tolerant of neighboring ethnic groups that make up and share patriotism for the Confederation. Non-Waldosipellians in general, and Non-White-Eucleans in particular, however, are viewed as outsiders by many, and xenophobic movements exist in all parts of the country (though their support is low).
  • Any big prejudices in your nation Some prejudices do exist between the varying ethnic groups of the Confederation, but these are minor and do not represent the inter-ethnic attitudes of the population at large. Stronger resentments exist against Waldeck-Sipellia’s neighbors, particularly Wazovia.
  • View on immigration into country: Outside of populations of Ostrozskans, Wazovian-Emosians, and Wazovian-Slesians, Waldeck-Sipellia does not host any large immigrant populations, largely due to both its geographical location in the north of continental Euclea as well as its strict immigration laws for those outside the previously-mentioned groups. Many Waldosipellians view non-Euclean immigration to be a destabilizing influence and support the continuation of the current government policy.
  • Women's Rights: Gender inequality is not a major concern for the population, though some groups protest that there remain wage gaps in business and a culture of male chauvinism.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Tobacco and alcohol are both legal, with the latter forming a significant part of Waldeck-Sipellia's foodstuff exports. Though most drugs are available for medicinal use, the legalization of recreational drugs varies below the federal level, with certain drugs legal in certain states but not in others.

National information
Official Name: Popular Transetrurian Federation
  • Federazione Transetruriana Populare
  • Popularna Prekoetruriska Federacijas
  • Priljubljena Čezetruriska Federacija
Shortened Name: Etruria
Requested Location: South of Gaullica, Grubalevia, east of Armathia and sharing a maritime border with Aquillia
RP Population: 65,596,083 (very open to reductions)
Culture: Etruria is a multi-ethnic and multi-lingual nation however, centuries of Vespasian domination have resulted in a Vespasic-absorbtion of Balkan traditions (through the Novalian and Carinthian minorities).
  • Ethnicity: Ethnically, Etruria is mainly divided between the Vespasian (Italians) at 80.43% , followed by Novalians at 15.4% and the Carinthians at 8.73%. In addition to this, there are also small populations of Marolevic groups found in the north.
  • Religion: Despite the ethnic divisions, Etruria is relatively homogenous in terms of religion, with nearly 89.55% professing their belief in Solarian Catholicism, while 3.23% profess Lasdanian Orthodox Sotirianity as their faith, primarily due to followers from the Marolevic minorities and the Carinthian population. Etruria actively restricts the proselytising by non-Solarian faiths and has done so since the late 18th century. This is seen in restrictions on non-Solarian Catholics being permitted to teach in state-schools and universities and a ban on non-Solarian Catholic families adopting Catholic children.
  • Languages: Etruria is linguistically divided along its ethnic lines. However since the founding of the Federation in 1916, it is mandatory for the respective ethnic groups to be taught the other. As such, Vespasian is the most widely spoken language, as both first and second. 80.88% speak Vespasian as a first language, while 18.34% speak it as a second language (a vast majority of Carinthians and Novalians). Novalian is the second most widely spoken, with it being the first of 15.19% and the second of 66.49% (mostly Vespasians, this is due to commonalities in the Novalian and Carinthian languages). Carinthian is the first language of 8.71% of the population, while it is the second of 52.34%. All documents and official papers are written in Etrurian, but are accessible in the other two official languages. Other spoken languages include Amathian, Gaullican and Marolevic languages, however they are not recognised as regional, national or official languages.
Government Type: Etruria is a Federation of three Constituent States and six Autonomous Federal Regions. It has a powerful federal government, though its power is in a constant state of flux, depending upon the stature of the state leaderships. Each three of the Constituent States have equal power within the constitution, as well as equal number of seats in the upper-house, which has power of veto over legislation that jeopordise "federal cohesion." Efforts are currently underway to equalise representation in the lower house. The Federation is currently dominated by the Tribune Movement party, which controls majorities in both federal houses, two of the Constituent states and two of the six of the Autonomous Federal Regions.
Head of State and Government: First Citizen Francesco Carcaterra
Politics: As of 2016, Etruria is dominated by the Tribune Movement, a populist political party that operates both left-wing and right-wing policies. It has since begun efforts to erode judicial independence and the free press in the name of "emancipating the people from the globalist elite." Etruria is highly polarised, although the Tribune Movement claims a majority of the population in support. It's primary rival is the Citizens' Alliance, a liberal and centrist political movement that is highly popular among the middle-classes and youth, while the former establishment parties; the Federalist and Socialist parties have begun an irreversible decline. The Tribune Movement's use of rhetoric against an "elite cabal" and ultra-nationalist demagogy has turned the country from a colorful inclusive society into a hateful and often violent reactionary one.
National Overview: The origins of the Federation begin with the rise of the Republic of Aeolia, a wealthy maritime republic. Eager to use its wealth to extend dominion over the various Vespasic duchies, kingdoms and rival maritime republics, it slowly expands militarily and diplomatically, culminating in the unification of Vespasia in 1859. To legitimise unification, the united state transitions to an elected constitutional monarchy, with Doge Augusto Cesare Ranelli becoming the first Sovrano. As the new Kingdom of Vespasia industrialises and modernises it seeks to secure the coal and iron deposits found in the smaller Kingdom of Novalia and Republic of Carinthia, led by King Petar II and President Milo Drnovšek respectively, while it immediately looked abroad for further resources. Carinthia is seized first in 1889 during the Vespasio-Carinthian War (1888-1889), while Novalia is annexed through a bloodless coup of the aged King Petar II in 1910. Despite its successes, support for the constitutional monarchy had failed to materialise to such an extent to guarantee its survival. Economic disparity between the wealthy south and agrarian north was inviting socialist agitation across the Kingdom, while liberal sought to emulate the nascent Carinthian Republic. Economic stagnation soon followed the annexation of Novalia as the Kingdom struggled or refused to extend industrialisation to the north, eventually this culminated in mass protests and the massacre of Sovrano Giorgio Alessandri at the Casa della Luna Blu by socialist gunmen. The Royal Army seized control and worked with liberals to establish a democratic federation, bringing Carinthia and Novalia to equal footing with Vespasia. This was followed by the official founding of the United Transetrurian Federation in 1916, as well as the establishment of autonomous regions based around the more independent-thinking former city-states and statelets of pre-unification Vespasia.

The United Federation prospered for much of the early half of the 20th century, successfully eroding the agrarian domination of northern Vespasia and industrialising Carinthia and Novalia. However, initial failures at creating a united national identity led to the rise of nationalism in both Carinthia and Novalia, culminating in the failed Great Uprising of 1946-49, in which over 350,000 people were killed. Although the federal government won and defeated the nationalist rebels, it struggled to maintain peace, leading to a low-level insurgency in both states and political turmoil in Vespasia. The Years of Grief (1950-1960) eventually led to a coup by the United Armed Forces and the establishment of the General State Commission for Stability and Order (CGSSO), the military regime would pursue Carinthian and Novalian nationalists remorselessly and relentlessly, as well its critics. The CGSSO launched a major propaganda and social reform effort to create an Etrurian identity, bringing all three languages to the same level, establishing greater rights and resource access for the two states, while re-writing history textbooks to claim that co-existence and collective cultural superiority over Euclea has been the case since 1400. In 1983, the CGSSO under pressure domestically and externally gave way to renewed civilian democratic rule. The twenty-three year regime left an estimated 20,000 people dead and another 8,000 officially missing, a source of great debate and division in modern Etruria.

Despite the loss and repression, the CGSSO regime succeeded in building an Etrurian identity, which allowed democracy and the economy to flourish after the transition. However by the early 2000s, corruption and scandal had become endemic, leading to a great sense of political malaise and disaffection with the status-quo. Declining wage growth, increasing inflation and dramatic levels of inequality allowed the populist Tribune Movement to rise rapidly from 2012, entering government in 2016 after the collapse of the centre-right government. Since 2016, Etruria now faces a second trial of democratic erosion, rising authoritarianism and nationalism.
Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Due to the high levels of religiosity in Etruria and deep-seated conservative views toward sexuality, there are no civil-unions permitted in Etruria. While homosexuality was legalised in 1985, it remains stigmatised and repressed. Currently, the Tribune Movement government is debating re-criminalising it, while the Citizens' Alliance and Etrurian Greens are promoting openness and progessive policies toward the LGBT community.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: It has been illegal for non-Solarian Catholic faiths to proselytise in Vespasia and since its founding, Etruria. While this is the case, there are no cases of sectarian division in the mixed Carinthian state. However, Vespasians being near-exclusively Solarian Catholic are known to be prejudiced toward Orthodoxy and "non-Euclean" faiths, this is seen to be the case with the equally Solarian Catholic Novalians.
  • General population's view on atheism: Atheism has been condemned culturally, socially and politically in Etruria for decades. Many politicians in Etruria view Athiesm as a form of "rebellion", while more conservative Novalians view it as a "threat to virtue and morality." Atheists are not officially recognised in the census and as such, do not receive any rights on the issue.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion, with the exception of fetal defects or endangerment of the mother's life or health, or being the product of incest, is outlawed in the country, although there have been substantial calls for relaxation of these laws in recent years. The Tribune Movement government is currently under pressure from its right-wing to illegalise it completely, while in 2016 it publishes a list of individuals found guilty of conducting illegal abortions. Numerous incidents have been reported of legitimate clinics being attacked by conservative Solarian Catholics.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Despite the Great Uprising in the 1940s and the subsequent insurgency, relations between the three primary ethnic groups of Etruria are reportedly very strong. Strict laws against inter-racism and public condemnation of those who engage in it has promoted further cultural homogenization. The CSSGO regime and the current Tribune Movement government have attempted to strengthen it by producing often false enemies to "national unity" or fictional common threats. According to many liberal commentators in Etruria, there has been great amounts of historigraphical fabrication to support a share identity and commonalities, as such, Etrurians as a whole are known to view non-Euclean peoples are inferior culturally speaking, while some view other Euclean societies as cultural inferior. At least 48% of the population view Etruria as the heart of Euclean civilisation.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation There are existing prejudices toward non-National peoples, primarily Amathians and Gaullicans (for Novalians-Carthinians and Vespasians respectively). Prejudice toward non-Solarian Catholic faiths remains strong within Vespasia and Novalia, though this is in decline within Carinthia. One major source of prejudice is between south Vespasia and north Vespasia, with the former viewing the latter as a "region of parasites" due to higher levels of unemployment, basic education and continued preference for rural living over urban. There also remains prejudice between Vespasia main and its five autonomous regions, with the main viewing its regions as "obstinate and unpatriotic" according to some.
  • View on immigration into country: Since 2016, the Tribune Movement government has used anti-immigrant rhetoric for further legitimacy, opposition to Amathian and Grubalevian migrants is very strong. While opposition to non-Euclean immigration is even greater, with the only notable exception being Marirana (need to discuss with Xiao colonial history, should this be accepted). However, there is a division over legitimate refugees and asylum seekers due to the influence of the Solarian Catholic Church, it has been noted that those who oppose immigration, do accept child-refugees as being allowed entry.
  • Women's Rights: The Tribune Movement government has made gender equality a major policy area, wage inequality remains a chronic issue in Etruria, as well as chauvinistic cultures and male-centric business environments. In 2017, the government issued a constitutional amendment making it mandatory for all political parties to present 50% female candidate lists in all elections.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Tobacco and alcohol are both legal, with the latter forming a significant part of Etruria's foodstuff exports, wine and liqueurs especially. Almost all narcotics are illegal at the federal, state and autonomous region level, efforts by some groups to legalise marijuana for medicinal and recreational use have failed to gain any meaningful support. The current government's "Virtuous Society" drive is pushing to end drug use entirely.

I have some interest in joining. Generally, a major concept I've wanted to try out is a massive confederal union of semi-sovereign republics on a New World continent. This union is generally ethnically, racially, culturally and linguistically diverse which could lead to a massive and ongoing civil war in the modern era. I'd like to discuss my lore with the rest of the region on discord, such as colonial history and etc.

National information The Republic of Duquesne
Official Name: The Republic of Duquesne
Shortened Name: Duquesne
Requested Location: (to the South of the Asterian Federation and North of Marirana.)
RP Population: 12 Million
Culture: Gallo cultures in the South and Center, Asterian populations in northern provinces, Lyonites scattered throughout the central mountain chain.
  • Ethnicity: Gallo, with an Asterian contingent in the north.
  • Religion: Solarian Catholicism is the majority religion, however there are also the Lyonites whom exist in a small insular contingent and scattered Protestant communities
  • Languages:
Gallo, Estmerish, Gaullican
Government Type: Unitary Parliamentary Republic
Head of State: Leader elected by an electoral-committee led by representatives from sections of the Republic
Head of Government: Vice President
National Overview: The Republic of Duquesne is an Agrarian, Unicameral Republic. The President is Elected by the Electoral Committee made up of members from the House of Delegates. He then selects another member of the House of Delegates to become his Vice President and to preside over the House of
Being an Agrarian Society, the Republic works to maintain the farming traditions that date back to its foundation. The region is very mountainous and therefore much of the population lives within fertile valleys between the large mountains. This has led to the gradual fragmentation of Gallo culture into several sub-cultures including the Gallo-Indigenous, the Gallo-Yeomen, the Gallo-Alpinists, the Lyonites and the Gallo-Cosmopolitans, the later of whom are confined to the capital city of Marquette. In addition to this the valley that flanks the Cramoisi Mountains to the north is mostly populated by people of Asterian origin who moved into the area during and in the aftermath of the Asterian Civil War.
Modern Duquesne is a conservative, mostly catholic inland Republic that neighbors Marirana to its south, Asteria to its north and east, and Eurevoia to its west. It remains a unicameral republic with equal representation given to each province. Every province sends a delegate to the House of Delegates and they function as the nation’s legislature.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Solarian Catholics, the largest religious demographic tend to disapprove gay rights. However, while Gay Marriage is not a legal status, Gays are not persecuted.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Solarians tend to avoid other religious groups within the nation, and the Lyonites are an insular community, however the state is officially secular.
  • General population's view on atheism: Atheists are very small minority in Duquesne
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is illegal in all forms. This is due to the government interpretation that at all stages of pregnancy, the mother is carrying a child which is subject to legal protections.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Racism is not a problem for the people of the Republic, the nation is a blend of natives and colonists.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation Outside religious groups, while uncommon are often not regarded positively outside of the capital city.
  • View on immigration into country: Immigration is regulated by the government based on a security procedure that each prospective immigrant must pass. Border security is a major focus for the government as the government does not want to see rapid population growth.
  • Women's Rights: Women have the right to vote, own property, and participate in everyday society. Women are not permitted in the military.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:
Nearly all drugs are outlawed, including tobacco, marijuana and harder drugs with the exception of drugs used for medicinal purposes. Alcohol is legal, but regulated by the government.

National information
Official Name: Floren Republic (Floren: República florana)
Shortened Name: Florena
Requested Location: la Península i les Illes
RP Population: 60,821,712
Culture: Florena has a coloured culture and history, both of which tie strongly into one another. Overwhelmingly, the nation's people speak the Floren tongue, or one of it's many historical dialects. Though in the modern day all dialects share legal recognition, in the past there had been a strong movement to 'standardise' the language, and as a result most of the country largely speaks a form of Floren comparable to the Heartland tongue; particularly in urban areas. There has been a minor revival of the historical dialects, but as of now, only the movements associated with the Lusitan and Almerian dialects have seen any success. Solarian Catholicism has historically been the largest religion in the country, with Mumin minorities maintaining a presence on the island of Bokela, and small Atudish communities persisting across the country. In the modern day, most of the country would be classified as Lapsed Catholics. Drawing on an ancient tradition dating back to before the time of Solaria, Floren music continues to be as rich and cultured as ever, albeit facing a decline in favour of the latest Gaullican taste. All in all, Florena is testament to duality; it is divided, yet it is whole.
  • Ethnicity: Overwhelmingly, the country is dominated by Mediterranean peoples; in particular taking strong influence from the Catalans, other Iberians, Occitans and southern Italians; in that order. A minuscule Celtic minority persists in the Fi del Món mountain range, which in the modern day has largely been subsumed into the greater Floren culture.
  • Religion: Solarian Catholicism dominates the Peninsula, with 78% of the country nominally Catholic; in truth over half of these would be considered Lapsed Catholics. Salam maintains a strong presence in les Illes, and the Atudite presence persists.
  • Languages: Floren (Catalan) is considered the sole national official language. There is to this day dispute among the academia as to whether Floren constitutes a single language, or is actually a vast linguistic grouping. Historical dialects litter themselves across the country, though in the modern day they have been in a stark decline in favour of "Heartland Floren". Semi-notable exceptions include Lusitan (Catalan-influenced Portuguese) which has made somewhat of a revival thanks to interest groups, and Almerian (Mozarabic) which has managed to persist on the island of Bokela thanks to it's separation from the mainland. A Celtiberian tongue is spoken by less than 10,000 people in the depths of the Fi del Món mountain range.
Government Type: Federal syndicalist popular republic
Head of State: Premier Rosa Escudero
Head of Government: First Speaker Melcion Auleda
National Overview: Florena; the land of blood and wine. For much of history the peninsula has been disunited; divided into feuding city-states and kingdoms, united only after Gabriel Amorana led his army across the continent. This history of division has left it's mark on the nation in cultural and linguistic ways, but not political; the united nation soon found itself with enemies on all sides, and after it's unification found that it had to fight to survive. This would be enough to breed national unity, yet another great need arose during the days of the Great War; where Florena united to face it's common threat, and came out of the war bloodied and bruised, but not beaten. Under the leadership of Isabela Elíamar and the Congress of Syndicates, Florena adapted to the new world; the old order was pushed aside, and it's place a new Florena arose; the landlords and robber barons were swept away in the Social Revolution, and by the end of the war, Florena would find itself reborn as the Floren Republic. This has left a lasting legacy on the nation; now the sole Euclean nation to pursue a democratic syndicalist economic doctrine. Now, Florena is led by the popularly-elected Premier - currently Rosa Escudero - and the First Speaker of the Generalitat - Melcion Auleda. The Generalitat is divided into one upper house - the Senate - and two lower houses - the Corts Populares and the Grand Syndicate.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Florena has a generally positive attitude towards LGBT rights. Despite a persistent socially conservative attitude in the rural regions, the urban centres are generally pro-LGBT rights. The revelation that Isabela Elíamar herself was bisexual, though causing somewhat of a scandal, has been attributed as one of the turning points for the campaign for LGBT rights in Florena.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Other sects of Sotirianity are generally seen positively, although perceptions change based on rural/urban populations. Attitudes toward Salam vary; the Mumins of Bokela are accepted, but generally foreign Mumins are treated with minor suspicion; not least by the Bokelan Mumins. Atudites are generally accepted, while other religions are treated with either irreverence or disdain.
  • General population's view on atheism: Irreligion is generally seen as acceptable in most of Florena, thanks to the already lax religious attitude, but in rural regions, atheists can be treated with suspicion.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is legal in Florena, but is generally frowned upon by the Catholic population; Lapsed Catholics tend to be more forgiving of the action, but the more zealous the person, the less forgiving they become.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Other races are generally accepted into most of Florena, particularly if they are Euclean or Catholic. Bokela tends to be more wary of foreigners.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: A general disdain towards Etrurians due to a historical rivarly; though this has somewhat been overcome. Badawiyans can be seen with suspicion, again based on historical conflict. Particularly bourgeois members of other countries may also be treated with suspicion.
  • View on immigration into country: Generally accepted so long as there is integration. The government offers free language lessons to migrants who wish to settle in the country.
  • Women's Rights: Generally considered to be one of the more progressive nations in Euclea in terms of women's rights; the only area it appears to be lacking is in attitudes towards abortion. Elsewhere, women are largely equal to men, thanks to both the Social Revolution and the political clout of Elíamar herself.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: All drugs have been decriminalized, while marijuana is considered legal for consumption. There is still suspicion surrounding drug use.

Official Name: The Great Principality of Talmura
Gabilezbadûn-Ukratigathol
᚛ᚌᚐᚁᚔᚂᚓᚎᚁᚐᚇᚒᚅᚒᚊᚏᚐᚈᚔᚌᚐᚈᚆᚑᚂ᚜
Shortened Name: Talmura
Requested Location: https://media.discordapp.net/attachment ... nknown.png
RP Population:8.23 million
Culture: The culture of Talmura is an ancient one, descended from the proto-San peoples who originally migrated to the islands. Linguistically they speak a language isolate, known as Barudul which is written in its particular script. All in the city-state are forced to learn it although those from traditional aristocracy and clergy castes learn calligraphy and otherwise more complicated variants of the language. Society has a clanish atmosphere with matrilineal inheritance and planned marriages remaining common. There is a generally low time preference within the society. The culture as well is also largely reactionary and considerably alien in much of its sensibilities. Life is also largely stratified between the wealthy and poor, which resulted in a largely stratified society.

  • Ethnicity: The leading ethnic group of Talmura are the Barum, a San descended people who appeared to migrate to the islands in the second millennium BC. Other ethnicities are mostly from Bahian in origin and form a de facto underclass.
  • Religion: Religiously the traditional upper classes of society have held onto a form of native Paganism known as Bundzinlaz which is largely regarded as esoteric, secretive, quasi-Hermetic and occultist in nature, however, a variety of religions have remained popular among the lower classes such as Solarian Catholicism.
  • Languages:
    • National: Baradul
Not recognised: Kikongo, Ndebele, other Bantu languages
Government Type: Quasi-elective plutocratic mixed government

    Head of Government: N/A
National Overview: Talmura is the ancient remnant of a classical civilisation, its present form being established in 287 AD as a desperate attempt at reform. What was left was a bizarre example of enduring mixed government, in which has evolved over the centuries. The Gabilezbad or Great Lord is the main sovereign and sole proprietor of Talmura. There is no divide between private property and the state, with governance being treated largely as a matter of business. He serves as a delegate on behalf of secret noble shareholders, known as the Uzbad, who ultimately retain authority while in turn possessing sovereign powers. He is elected to the position by panels of the Uzbad who possess the authority to appoint him and make him swear a vow to fulfil his duties to the state. If he fails to uphold these vows he can be forced to abdicate, making his authority lie in the hands of the Uzbads.

These Uzbads derive substantial profits from their investments in Talmura and largely tend to select reliable candidates. Beneath him is a small but efficient bureaucracy, promoted with several ministries enforcing the legislative agenda of the state. As a reward for serving as the Gabilezbad, his descendants often become the Uzbad, being granted substantial shares and provisions by the state. There are no limitations on who can become an Uzbad beyond ownership of shares, and citizenship under Talmura.

While the basic residents of Talmura have limited political rights, they possess considerable personal freedoms such as a limited variant of freedom of speech, largely low tax rates and a business-friendly environment. In exchange for these generally pleasant living conditions, the government maintains full spectrum surveillance of its citizens, with biometric, surveillance and behavioural data. This is often used to help enforce its draconian approach to crime as well as often being sold to those who desire it. Immigration is targeted at wealthy foreigners, with the borders being controlled but largely permeable.

The economy of Talmura is a highly developed free market economies, with low taxes (roughly 13.9% of GDP). It is also increasingly targeting information economy, and electronics, trying to actively invest in and encourage the growth of such corporations.

Religiously the traditional upper classes of society have held onto a form of native Paganism known as Bundzinlaz which is largely regarded as esoteric, secretive and occultist in nature, however, a form of Nestorianism has remained popular among the non-governing classes.

    Social views:
    • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Generally tolerated by the native population, and incorporated into rituals. Legally they are not considered.
    • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Foreign religions are generally distrusted as a form of potential foreign subversion but still worthy of learning from.
    • General population's view on atheism: Distrusted once more and seen as unnatural. Spiritualism still exists among the non-religious populations generally while actual atheists are rare.
    • General population's view on abortion: Only authorised for eugenic purposes, otherwise not allowed.
    • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Most outsiders are seen by the Barum as backwards,
    • Any big prejudices in your nation Monotheistic religions are looked down upon while failure to obey protocol is a massive faux pas in situations.
    • View on immigration into country: Generally undesired although increasingly they push for high standards for immigration.
    • Women's Rights: The prominent social position of women in Talmura has been a long feature of it, however, society politically remains patriarchal.
    • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Used liberally by the population with drugs being a major component of religious ritual

Official Name: The Serene Princedom of Baricca
Shortened Name: Baricca
Requested Location: i'm only requesting 1 of these locations (i don't really have a preference which), i circled several in case the others are already claimed https://i.imgur.com/Vgmi2f7.jpg
RP Population: ~1 Million
Culture: Baricca is a fascinating combination of Euclean and Bahian culture. While the people mostly identify as Euclean, the strong influence of cultures from across the Bahian coast is clear in Bariccan cuisine, language, and customs. Unlike the colonial nations which would develop in the centuries to come, Baricca would over time embrace its neighboring nations, peoples, and cultures and grow alongside them into the nation we know today. Baricca's culture is also influenced by its status as a retreat for the rich and powerful; Presidents, Kingpins, and billionaires from across the globe have spent many a night in Baricca's sprawling malls, casinos, and hotels.
  • Ethnicity: Bariccans are the dominant ethnicity composing about 70-80% of the resident population, although a significant minority population of native Bahians and Eucleans exist.
  • Religion: Solarian Catholicism is the majority religion within resident Bariccans. Though almost every religion from across the globe is represented in the constantly shifting tourist population.
  • Languages: Bariccan dialect of Gaulican. Various Bahian and Euclean languages are also spoken.
Government Type: Constitutional Monarchy
Head of State: Grand Prince Anri IV
Head of Government: Grand Prince Anri IV
National Overview: Founded by Euclean merchants in the early 13th century, Baricca would become a wealthy trade city and gateway from many Bahian nations into western Euclea throughout the middle ages and renaissance. By the turn of the 15th century the island of Baricca had transformed into a fully independent nation-state, electing its first Grand Prince in 1412. In modern times Baricca has become an international tourist hub as well as a center for worldwide shipping, investing, and banking. Baricca functions under a mixed economy with Investment, banking, Tourism, and shipping dominating. Baricca has not operated an official military since the conclusion of the Great War in 1935, but utilizes an incredibly well equipped and trained police force to ensure order and safety. The government is headed by the Grand Prince, a position equivalent to a king or monarch, who acts as the joint head of state and government. The Grand Prince technically has power over most governmental functions (barring the restrictions imposed by the Bariccan constitution), but often takes a back seat role in the day to day functions of the state. The Office is inherited by whatever member of the Royal Family the Grand Prince nominates as his successor, though this is most often the eldest child regardless of gender.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Generally tolerated without issue, although a legal civil-union exists in place of marriage.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Being a cultural and economic hub, interaction with other religions is commonplace and they are generally tolerated.
  • General population's view on atheism: Frowned upon by some residents, but you would be unlikely to face any sort of discrimination
  • General population's view on abortion: Population is generally pro-life, encouraging adoption instead of abortion, but abortions are still safe and legal
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): From its inception Baricca has been a multi-cultural nation. Other ethnic groups are both common and welcome with open arms.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: None, other than the somewhat uncomfortable relationship that always exists between tourists and residents
  • View on immigration into country: Immigration is commonplace, and immigrants are unlikely to raise an eyebrow
  • Women's Rights: Equal in almost all regards, though some social stigmas may exist outside of cities. No distinctions between women and men exist within inheritance laws and Baricca has been ruled by a number of Grand Princesses over its 600 year history.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Tobacco and alcohol are commonplace, especially in the many Casinos and speakeasies. A number of drugs such as cannabis and even cocaine are legal in certain situations and even procurable if one knows where to look.

Other:
  • Factbook: Factbooks are currently a WIP, i was hoping to learn more about the rest of the region before fleshing out my fluff too much. If i need to throw together a wiki-style one i can.
  • RP Preferences: No specific preferences, i enjoy anything from individual characters to international diplomacy
  • RP Samples: Since this is a new nation, i'll have to request a prompt
  • Primary/Other NS Nations: Used to have a fairly active nation but i've since lost the login
  • Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.): Nope
  • Anything else?: I'm a fairly experienced RPer, everything from Warhammer stuff and DnD to RP Forums. i used to be very active on nationstates, but have stuck to lurking since i lost the login to my first nation. Seeing this region has motivated me to get back into it, just wanted to say how impressed i am by how professional and comprehensive this region seems.

Official Name: Dalka Mizaha Waa Badan Iyo `aano La Barwaaqaysan Sidii Biyo Oo Kale- "The land where fruits and milk flow like water" or "The fruits are abundant and the milk is flowing like water", literally "The fruit is more and milk with flowing as water and others" because translation is a lovely thing
Shortened Name: "Daaqii `aanno"- "Pastures of milk". Also just "Daaqii". "Boqortooyada" is used colloquially.
Requested Location: The prettier purple ;)
RP Population: 50 million? I don't want to lose competitiveness with larger regional powers, but I do recognize some of the constraints present. I may alter this by doing some math later on my own, regardless of whether or not there are objections.
Culture and Ethnicity: Daaqii is a mostly developed state living on the borderlands of the greater Heja and the greater Badawiya regions. Ethnically, it acts as a transition zone between these two. To the south are smaller communities with significant cultural ties to the more southerly nations, with tendency to live in agrarian communities and practice traditional customs. These people have the highest regional diversity within the entire country. To the far north are the nomadic and seminomadic Atudite tribes of dubious origin. Regardless of what ethnicity they were birthed from, they claim strong ties to the people of Adunis and, like their southern counterparts, prefer to live traditional lives. However, many from these tribes have settled in permanent townships and cities, and even more have found a home in the ancient cities lying in the central region of the country. Between these two cultures live the urbanite Daaqi people and their close cultural kin, with prosperous merchant-king legacies based on their advantageous crossroads position. Ancient communities founded on overland trade, as well as oasis villas, and even towns that were once small villages in fertile pastures, all comprise the main body of settlement for these Cushites. They display traits of both the most southern and most northern peoples, with many of their own unique institutions based around the long urban tradition present as well. Religiously, the Daaqi and their Cushitic kin follow a somewhat limited pantheon with various degrees of syncretism with the people of Adunis. The primary deities are the Three Mistresses of Fate, wherein fate as a concept is important historically to their philosophy and lifestyle, and along these are Shams, representing the sun, and Waaq, representing the sky. In entirety, this is the Sun and Sky on one side, with the Mistresses representing the Night. Despite their differences, each of these three major groups have interconnected societies and cultures, and their long-lasting proximity and cooperation between borderland communities, merchant urbanites, and nomadic herders and guides, has led to a degree of interdependence which historically held the country together.
Government Type: Enlightened Monarchy, lacking a parliamentary system, but still featuring democratic institutions on a level below the monarch. Why? Because honestly, you can never have enough monarchies, and it'd be just dishonest to claim a full democracy could proper hold itself in such a situation and location.
Head of State: Qasaye Shaqlan of the Mahad Magan dynasty
Head of Government: Shared by Samah ben Karab and Rahad Fiyeliye
National Overview: The nation of Daaqii is balanced between the power of the monarch and the liberties guaranteed to the nation's people. Codependent existence binds the country together, although tensions do rise. The agrarian south and nomadic north each have their own representative to the monarch, who also functions as their governor, as is elected democratically. National political parties exist, and attempt to grab power by mayoral elections, candidacy for positions within the royal cabinet, and at the highest level, these governorships. For a long time, the Daaqi monarchs have been aligned with against the Salamist states in favor of Euclean powers, and in turn have embraced many Euclean progressive ideals. Thus, the best description for Daaqii is Enlightened Absolutism- where a strong central authority embraces progressive and forward policies and stances, in contrast to traditionalism and regression.

National information
Official Name: Republic of Nimear (Hennish: Republiek Nijmeer)
Shortened Name: Nimear
Requested Location: de Vruchtbare Kust
RP Population: 44,812,192
Culture: Nimear maintains a strong culture, influenced by it's Hennish and Estmerish colonisation and the preceding native groups. Kasperism - the dominant faith - plays a key role in the culture, while the national language of Hennish retains it's status in the country's culture, while native tongues - though protected - are in the process of dying out. The significant ethnic divisions have led to a great deal of cultural differences between the groups, all of which tend to coalesce into the greater Nimearian culture. Arts and music in the country tend to thrive following the advent of modern civil liberties, particularly among the Zwarter community.
  • Ethnicity: Asterianers constitute 34.8% of the population, and have disproportionate influence within the state, generally considered the dominant minority. 31.5% are Zwarter, 11.3% are Halfbloed, 9.6% belong to the native Inheem, 7.1% are considered "other white", and 5.7% belong to other ethnic groups. There is particular enmity between the Asterianers and the Zwarters and Inheem, whom were mistreated heavily during the Wispel regime.
  • Religion: Sotirianity is the largest religion in the country by far. Kasperism, a reformed Amendist sect, is the largest branch practiced in the country, while Solarian Catholic and other Amendist minorities persist. Some native faiths also remain.
  • Languages: Hennish is the sole official, and most widely spoken, language in the Republic. Estmerish and Gaullican, two other Euclean languages, are granted recognition as minority languages; Estmerish is spoken by the small but influential Estmerish minority in the country, in addition to Asterian emmigrants, while Gaullican is spoken by many migrant communities and groups along the Satucin-Nimear border. Inheman - the largest Native Asterian language in the country - is also granted recognition.
Government Type: Unitary semi-presidential constitutional republic
Head of State: State President Lennaert Kruger
Head of Government: Chancellor Willem Marsch
National Overview: First established by Hennish settlers it 1511, Nimear has had a troubled history. Suffering under Estmerish yoke from 1737 until their victory in the Independence War by 1815, the country found itself with a shattered economy and poor prospects. Disunited in ethnicity, faith and culture, the young nation managed to claw it's way out of poverty via an 1868 Gold Rush and the extensive growth of the financial sector, leading it to become one of the world's wealthiest developed nations by the early 20th century. Economic depression, however, led to the rule of Laurens Wispel, and Nimear's entry into the Great War on the side of the Entente. Defeated, a Roessan occupation would ensue until modern elections. Today, Nimear retains it's ethnic divisions; and they are prevalent. Minority-led insurgencies persist, and economic disparity between the groups - and within the groups - are severe. Current State President Lennaert Kruger, Chancellor Willem Marsch and the unicameral States General have all resolved to solve these issues, to little avail.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: LGBT rights remain a contentious issue in the country, with urban areas generally more accepting, and rural regions more conservative. The government has remained neutral.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Generally, other Sotirian faiths are accepted - with suspicion - while native faiths and religions such as Salam are distrusted.
  • General population's view on atheism: Generally frowned upon, but not abhorred. Tends to vary from region to region, urban areas being more accepting.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is generally frowned upon, especially in Catholic communities, but the law permits them.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Ethnic tensions are rife in the country; Asterianers generally maintain a paternalistic attitude over the Zwarters, see the Halfbloed as "unfortunate mistakes" to be protected, and the natives as their burden to uplift. None of the other groups approve of these attitudes. Zwarters tend to see the Asterianers as oppressors, the Halfbloed as race traitors/half-oppressor, and the natives as uncivilised. Natives tend to view the Euclean groups and Zwarters as outside invaders. The Halfbloed tend to feel as outcasts from the other groups. Of non-Nimearian groups, all tend to be suspicious, though there is often a general pan-Bahian feeling among the Zwarters.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Particularly against native, and to a lesser extent the Zwarter and Halfbloed, (and, among natives, against Eucleans) thanks to the on-going insurgency.
  • View on immigration into country: Generally accepted, particularly among skilled labourers, though most are viewed with suspicion.
  • Women's Rights: Women's rights are generally advanced, among the Asterianer and Zwarter populations in particular. Rural regions tend to lag behind.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: The government participates in the war on drugs. Most Eucleans/Zwarters view drugs with suspicion, but they play an important role in the native religions and cultures; as such, many native groups consider the war on drugs to be an act of cultural war against them.

Official Name: International Territory of Shedao (國際 領土 蛇島/Gwokzai Lengtou Jidou)
Shortened Name: Shedao (蛇島/Jidao)
Requested Location: The island to the south of Namkwon
RP Population: 14 million.
Culture: (A brief summation of the nation's culture, language, and so forth. If it has a real-world equivalent or inspiration, be sure to list it here.)
  • Ethnicity: 26% Songhua Shedao, 20% Chau, 13% Namkwon, 11% Siamati, 9% Negaran, 6% Weranian, 5% Nematsujin, 4% Estmerish, 4% Hesian, 2% Other
  • Religion: Shedao is about as religiously diverse as it is ethnically diverse; Satyism, ancestor worship, traditional religions and atheism are all present among the Songhua Shedao, Chau, Namkwon and Siamati communities, while the Negaran community pracities a mix of Ibadat and Catholic Sotirianity. The Nematsujin and Hesian communities retain their traditional religions, while the island’s Euclean groups, dominated by the Estmerish and the Weranians, practice various Protestant forms of Sotirianity.
  • Languages: Shedao Songhua is the largest language in Shedao, spoken by both the Songhua Shedao and Chau as their first language while serving as the second for many of the other groups on the island. The other major minority groups (Namkwon, Siamati, Negaran, Nematsujin, Weranian, Estmerish) use their native languages as their first languages but normally know Shedao Songhua as a second language. A third language, normally Estmerish or Weranian, although not common, is not rare to know either.
Government Type: Special Territory of the Community of Nations
Head of State: N/A: Rotating Position amongst the members of the General Control Commission
Head of Government: Kwan Cheon-Fan, Native Member of the General Control Commission and Chair of the Regional Council
National Overview: Shedao was never meant to be a nation. For the vast majority of its history, Shedao was under the rulership of the Imperial Province of Shedao, a sub-region of the various dynastic empires of Songhua. The Imperial Province of Shedao, then an Imperial Commandery subordinate to X Province, was first established in 121 AD under the Li Dynasty, primarily as a naval command to protect trade along the Namkwon coast and prevent the island from becoming a haven for pirates.

Shedao remained under the Songhua throughout the centuries, with interruptions during the Second, Third and Fourth Interregnums, where the head of the Commandery or the later Province or Viceroyalty would often support one or another of the various states with the considerable naval might under his command, especially during the Hong Dynasty.

Under the Li Dynasty, Shedao was considered a backwater posting, where rivals could be posted to sideline them or used as a place for practical demotion without any stripping of rank, as there was no way to win glory on a posting like the Shedao Commandery, isolated from the mainland. Placing so many resentful soldiers together culminated in the Feng Xiang Revolt in 755 where the island’s commander, Feng Xiang, declared himself King of Dao. The Kingdom lasted just under a decade until 764 when a Li fleet retook the island from the rebels. Other commanders would later declare the State of Dao during the Second Interregnum in 878, but the island would once again be conquered by the state of Yan in 941 only to surrender to the Zhou in 948.

Shedao was used extensively as a forward base during the Hong Dynasty’s campaigns into the Sainam region, and minor elements of the fleet stationed there would participate in the Songhua conquest of Nematsu in 1198. Under the Hong Dynasty Shedao would become a major center of trade in southern Coius, the large navy established there protecting trade routes to Songhua from the various states of eastern Coius. The establishment of the Shedao Fleet also saw Shedao become an Imperial Province under the control of the Viceroy for the Protection of the East Sea.

The fall of the Hong Dynasty between 1313 and 1329 saw the Imperial Viceroy at that time, Lao Cheng, refuse to acknowledge the newly-established Khatagh rule of Songghuo as the legitimate rulers, and he would use the Shedao Fleet to support various factions on the Coian mainland against the Khatagh before continuing the fight by assisting Nematsu and the various minor kingdoms in Sainam, in addition to sheltering the invasion fleet sent against Meidao after it mutinied.

The so-called ‘Lao Dynasty’, considered as a rival dynasty although never claiming the Phoenix Throne, lasted from 1313 until 1440, when the Viceroy, Lao Bai, formally acknowledged the Zhen Dynasty as the new imperial rulers of Songhua. The position of Imperial Viceroy for the Protection of the East Sea would remain until 1847, when the post was abolished and Werania and Estmere were ceded land on the island as part of the Treaty of Peikang.

The Weranians would later consolidate their control over much of the island in the 1840s and 1850s, eventually extending their power into Namkwon proper which would last for almost a century until after the Great War. In the aftermath of the Great War, the island would be a key flashpoint in the Namkwon Emergency as after the Weranian withdrawal from Shedao and Namkwon in 193x both Negaran and Songhua military forces landed on the island and established temporary military rule.

Originally, the island was to be ceded back to Namkwon, but the rise of the Siamati independence movement and the growing tension between Negara and Songhua prevented any agreement on being reached. This period would be known as the ‘Years of Blood’ as Shedao became the site of a low-level urban guerilla war between the various minority groups on the island; Shedao Songhua who favoured restoration of the Imperial Province of Shedao, the independence-seeking Chau, the Namkwon and Siamati communities who each favoured unification with their respective states, the Negarans and Nematsujin who allied with the Chau to prevent any reunification with Songguo and finally the Estmerish and Weranians who lobbied their own governments to end the situation and the violence. The Negaran and Songhua military forces on the island remained officially neutral, but in reality provided low-level support to the sides that best suited them at any given time.

In 195x the Community of Nations stepped in and, unable to find a solution that fit the definition of majority-accepted rule declared Shedao to be a ‘Special Territory of the Community of Nations’ where sovereignty would be jointly held by several concerned powers ( Songhua, Negara, Nematsu, Werania, Namkwon, Estmere, Werania, whatever replaces Althira, Asteria) and representatives democratically elected by the native populace.

The island has since remained relatively calm, but has its issues; the island is still technically a colony that wants independence, and thus is a constant source of embarrassment to the CoN’s decolonisational attitude and message and a way for anti-imperialists to bang the drum by pointing it out. It is also a major point of international espionage, as the structure of the legal system makes it effectively impossible for anyone from the concerned powers to be tried for any crime or expelled from the island, while the weak nature of the government and the prevalence of weapons on the island have allowed a substantial organised crime scene to emerge on the island.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people:
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: There isn’t a primary religion. People tend not to care about the religion of others, although aggressive proselytization is heavily frowned upon; it’s ethnicity that matters.
  • General population's view on atheism: Again, no one really minds; athiesm is accepted, much like any other religion would be.
  • General population's view on abortion: Legal in most cases, and largely accepted by the population although there are some among the Sotirian community who believe it should be made illegal.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): There is no primary ethnicity; the Songhua Shedao, the largest single ethnicity, however, are disliked by the vast majority of other ethnicity on the island as none of them wish to reunify with Songhua and have proven willing to fight against it.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation Each other. Shedao’s ethnic splits are very, very divisive, with the only thing able to unite them being a common enemy.
  • View on immigration into country: They’ve got bigger issues to worry about than migrants.
  • Women's Rights: Official legal equality, although discrimination is still present in society.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Has a decently-sized drug problem, courtesy of a weak government and strong organised crime groups.

Other:
  • Factbook: Not yet.
  • RP Preferences: Military, espionage. Not a big fan of internals unless I think of a very, very good plotline (and since I have a lot to mess around with here, well.)
  • RP Samples: Pffffft.
  • Primary/Other NS Nations: Nope.
  • Any troubles with moderation?:
  • Anything else?:

And done. Say if there's anything I've missed or whatever.

National information
Official Name: Ye’āshewa Hizibi Mahiberesebi | People's Republic of Ashewa
Shortened Name: Ashewa
Requested Location: Anywhere on the Bahia-Badiwaya divide
RP Population: 27 million
Economy $811 per capita, $22 Billion overall
Culture: Ashewa is a multi-ethnic state formed from the remains of the Estmerish colonial empire in northern Bahia and Badiwaya. The country is remarkably conservative by all accounts. The most liberal urban areas of the region would be considered the farthest of the Euclean right. The Ashe'ee are largely based on Amhara Culture. They have held power in the country since decolonization. They are entirely Shima Salamics. The Hariam are based on the Oromo peoples and are largely Tamazik. These are the two most powerful groups in the country and dominate politics. The Bun Heere are based on Arab Jewish tribes and are focused along the inland trade route towns.
  • Ethnicity:
    Bahian: 51%
      Ashe'ee 38%
      Mehm'ee 7%
      Cikimori 6%
    Badiwayan: 46%
      Hariam 22%
      Ascohkax 16%
      Xutite 8%

    Other: 3%
      Bun Heere 1%
      Others 2%
  • Religion: Shima Salam dominates the country, claiming approximately 81% of the country as adherents. The Tamazik sect has roughly 17% of the population as followers. An additional 1% are followers of Atudaism and various other faiths and atheism claim the remaining percent of the populace. The country is officially Salamic, though the exact sect is not proscribed in law. Heathens are tolerated, afforded minimal legal protections.
  • Languages: Ashee'ik and Hariimbo are the official languages of the country. Heerim is the official trade language of the country. Ashee'ik is based on Amharic and Hariimbo is Swahili and Oromo. Heerim is Arabicized Hebrew.
Government Type: Unicameral Presidential Republic
Head of State: President-Marshall Zemichael Iyasu Daniachew
Head of Government: High Mufti Gebreselassie Abenet Abdella
National Overview:

Ashewa is circling the drain of civil war. The country has never been a peaceful one, nor a unified one. Before the Estmerish colonization, the lands that are now Ashewa were over a dozen warring states and tribes. The state was only held together by the iron fist of the President-Marshalls in Hezekiah. Even then, insurgency festered in the hills and deserts. Only the cities and large towns were firmly under Hezekiah's control. From 1971 to 1986 the Fraternal Order of Salam and the Bahian National Liberation Front waged two separate, bloody insurgencies. By the mid 1980's, both the government and the groups were drained. A peace deal was arranged, and CoN peacekeepers invited in. For the first time, a free and open election was scheduled to be held. On July 3rd, 1988, a week before the election was scheduled to take place, a coup occurred. It was readily apparent that the next President-Marshall would be from either the Hariam or Ascohkax tribes. This was seen as unacceptable to the Ashe'ee militants who controlled the armed forces. Led by General Umayit Tylaisse, the militants arrested and executed all their political rivals. Umayit was installed as President-Marshall and the CoN peacekeepers were expelled from the country. An election was held the following year, with Umayit winning 107% of the vote. This election was heavily criticized for being a sham. Umayit ruled with a brutal fist, squashing protest and rebellion with fire and lead. In December of 2017, Umayit suffered a gunshot would to the chest. He was rushed to the hospital and later died. It was determined that a Hariam malcontent shot the fatal bullet. Local Ashe'ee militias went wild in retaliation, rioting and burning down Hariam villages and neighborhoods in retaliation. The Hariam group, the Bahian National Liberation Front, retaliated with a series of car bombings in Hezekiah and other major cities. Umayit's successor and nephew, Zemichael Iyasu Daniachew, enforced draconian measures against the Hariam people. Their politicians were disbarred and their parties disbanded. On January 29th, 2018, a major protest was brutally broken up by government forces. The protesters, largely Heere, Ascohkax and Xutite, were gassed and bombed. The government reportedly dropped barrels filled with flammable liquids and nails on the protesters. The Bun Heere and Cikimori in the inland regions revolted, declaring the government in Hezekiah to be illegitimate. As of the end of March, Hezekiah has lost control of everything except the Ashe'ee homeland and the main cities of the coast. The Hariam-affiliated groups control much of the northern part of the country, including the oil supplies. The Bun Heere and Cikimori control the inland desert oases and trade routes. The rest of the country has descended into chaos as the various ethnic groups vie for power. The conflict has been characterized by low-level conflict and for now a lack of urban fighting. But the violence is growing and Hezekiah is planning to restore power over the rural regions.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Homosexuality is seen as the same as pedophilia. Gays are burned at the stake in more rural areas and face severe social limitations in the more 'liberal'' urban areas. There are, officially, no laws on gays because it is the position of the Government in Hezekiah that gays are a Euclean disease. The High Mufti, Supreme Ayatollah, and Chief Rabbi all agree with this interpretation. In fact, the views on homosexuals is one of the view common grounds that the various groups in Ashewa can agree on.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: The Salamics hate the heathens and vice versa. The Tamaziks and the Shimas would like nothing better than to purge each other from the country. Legally, the minorities are tolerated. In reality, in the rural regions beyond Hezekiah's control, there is violent oppression.
  • General population's view on atheism: Atheism is viewed with disdain by the conservative religious groups in Ashewa. As the saying goes, the only thing worse than a Heretic is a Heathen and the only thing worse than a Heathen is an Unbeliever.
  • General population's view on abortion: Death Penalty for the Doctor, 20 years imprisonment for the Father/Guardian Male, and 5 years imprisonment for the Mother
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): There is intense and bitter tribalism in Ashewa. The dominant ethnic group, the Ashe'ee, use brute force and coercion to maintain their power. The other tribes are incapable of forming a unified front against them, for the inter-tribal enmity runs deep. The Bahians hate the Badiwayans and vice versa. The Salamics hate the heathens and vice versa. The Tamaziks and the Shimas would like nothing better than to purge each other from the country.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation There is a big prejudice against Sotirans in the country, as they are seen as the colonizer's religion. Same applies to Eucleans in general.
  • View on immigration into country: I don't think anyone immigrates to the country. Those that do are discriminated against for not having a tribe.
  • Women's Rights: Women are legally second-class citizens. They face many restrictions and barriers, both legal and social. This does vary by ethnic group, tribe, and region. In general, women do face barriers in education, employment, and political participation. They are barred from the vote unless they have a male family member approve them to vote and they are barred from all but a few select universities.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Narcotics are officially a crime deserving death. In reality, drug abuse is rampant. Alcohol is viewed the same as any narcotic. Tobacco is legal and heavily consumed, starting at ages as young as five.

    Other:
    • Factbook: (IIWiki preferred. Not required, but helpful if you have one already.)
    • RP Preferences: Military
    • RP Samples: I did partake in this RP group called Kylaris once
    • Primary/Other NS Nations: Inesea, South Seas Territories
    • Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.): Got banned once, I think the thread was pruned
    • Anything else?:

National information
Official Name: State of Buckland | Buccalond Cynewīse
Shortened Name: Buckland | Buccalond
Requested Location: Location - Detailed map
RP Population: anywhere from around 5,500,000 to 10,000,000, my preference is 6,825,000
Culture: Bucklanders are, on the surface, notably similar to the Swathish, though due to historical divergence between the two peoples there exist a great deal of differences in language, traditional dress, arts, music and more.
  • Ethnicity: Bucklander (Buckish: Buccingas) is the name for any inhabitant of Buckland, though it may also refer to the native ethnic group also known as Bucklanders, a Weranic group related to the Swathish and Estmerish, who make up 97% of Buckland. The remaining 3%, largely concentrated in the coastal cities, are from a variety of peoples, though mainly Gaullican, Estmerish, Swathish and Weranian.
  • Religion: The Church of Buckland (Buckish: Bucciscan Ċiriċe) is an Amendist national church, with most of the population following it [Think High Church]. Various other religions, or no religion, are followed by a minority of the population.
  • Languages: Buckish (Buckish: Buccisc), a Weranic language closely related to, but largely mutually unintelligible with, Swathish and Estmerish, is the official and native language of Buckland. It is descended from a northern dialect of Old Swathish, and unlike Swathish or Estmerish it is remarkably conservative and has remained largely untouched by Gaullican and Verique influence. Swathish is spoken in a few border towns, and it, Estmerish, Gaullican and others are spoken by minorities.
Government Type: Unitary parliamentary republic
Head of State: President (Buckish: Folcfréa) Freodhoric Ācden
Head of Government: Prime Minister (Buckish: Ðeodwitan) Godric Eoforlēah
National Overview: History
Buckland was the first province to be colonised by the southward migrating Swathish peoples, though the numerous tribal and petty kingdoms which persisted into the xth century never managed to amalgamate into more coherent polities, unlike their southern counterparts. X kingdom slowly annexed the area and would control it until the arrival of the Veriques in the 10th century. Local Verique control in what was then known as the Northern March (Buckish: Norþmearċ) was poor, and they relied upon the pre-existing, and at the time co-operative, local aristocracy to enforce their will.

During the late 12th century Anarchy, the province broke away and a local ealdorman, Leofwine Oswinson, was appointed king of Buckland (Buccalond Cyning). Estmere would eventually recover, and the Oswinsons were forced to submit as Estmere sought to regain its northern buffer. Buckland would later become fully independent again, this part is still WIP. It became a noble republic at some point, and then later fully democratised. Fought against the Entente in the GW, due to alliance with Estmere. Has been a liberal republic, EC member, to the present day.

Politics
Has a unicameral legislature, the Witenagemot, of which the election process is mixed. ~60% are elected via STV, and represent single constituencies, while ~30% are elected via open list and represent one of four regions, and the remaining ~10% are indirectly elected via the local shire assemblies. The president is elected by a two-round system in which if a candidate does not achieve 60%+ of the vote in the first round the candidates with the two highest percentage of the vote will enter a second round.

Currently the country is ruled by [centre-right semi-populist agrarian]-[centrist free market liberal] coalition, while the [centre-left] party and [others] remain in opposition. All of the major parties are pro-EC.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Same-sex marriage is not legal, though there exist civil partnerships. Homosexuality is generally more accepted and prevalent in urban areas. There is a growing movement for SSM, and a controversy in the church over it.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Legally all religious beliefs are tolerated, though only a certain number of religions meet the criteria for tax-free status (i.e. number of followers).
  • General population's view on atheism: It is legal, but has not gained as much ground as in other countries, with deism, spiritualism and agnosticism being more prevalent.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is legal in some cases, but tends to be restricted. Much like SSM this in an ongoing political controversy.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Hate crime based on race or ethnicity is illegal, though it is more common, though still rare, in rural than urban areas.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation There exists a friendly rivalry with Flurians and partly the Estmerish, who in the past were seen as oppressors and, by some scholars, deemed genocidal towards the Swathish people.
  • View on immigration into country: Immigration isn’t a particularly big issue, largely because Buckland receives relatively little of it other than countries quite similar to itself, like Werania, Estmere and Gaullica. That said it is more tolerated in the coastal and urban areas than the rural and inland.
  • Women's Rights: While there is legal full equality, there exist social, career and educational differences to the advantage of men, and though there is a growing movement to combat this it has gained relatively little ground or support from the major parties.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: All non-medical drugs are illegal, and the movement to combat this, for what are deemed lighter drugs, has made little ground due to legal challenges, and illegal measures, taken by successive governments. Smoking has seen more and more restrictions, and a controversial bill is likely to be passed through the Witenagemot to bar anybody born after 1 January 2004 from legally buying any form of tobacco product, effectively phasing smoking out for future generations. Alcohol is fully legal for those over 18, though certified pubs (at their discretion and judgement) can serve 16 year olds certain drinks under parental supervision until 11:00, and certified restaurants and pubs can serve those over 12 certain approved drinks with parental supervision with a meal.

National information
Official Name: Frestat-Argrevansket av Skyrlant
Shortened Name: Skyrlant
Requested Location: Bordering the Federation on the West Coast of Asteria Superior.
RP Population: 8 Million inhabitants.
Culture: The culture of Skyrlant still largely reflects its colonial origins. Founded inland from Ruttish merchant colonies on the West Coast of Asteria in 1585, its founders Athelrik av Waesing and Tomas Qwik claimed descent from the Scirii, a minor Weranic tribe from the time of the Solarian Empire about which little is known, and named their settlement after their supposed ancestral tribe. In the 1840s the Skyrsk* National Revival promoted a highly idealized version of the medieval past of Skyrlant’s pre-colonial ancestors which still influences the more rural areas of society. From the 1930s to the present the dominant cultural force remains a romanization of the colonial period styles and ideals, although this is challenged by an influx of modern cultural movements from neighboring countries. The native Xa’isla population have largely adopted an itinerant lifestyle and remain a strong cultural force. *(Largely influenced by North Frisian.)
  • Ethnicity: 64.5% Vahlanter ("Euclean"), which is further divided into roughly 80% Skyrsk and 20% Autlanter (other), 24.5% Inlanter (Xa'isla, native population), 11% Asterian
  • Religion: Majority Solarian Catholicism (Church Officials are present at the initiation of the Argrevan, but otherwise do not have official status), Large Protestant minorities, Native Religions occasionally praticed
  • Languages: Skyrsk (official language): The Skyrsk language has its origin in Northwestern Ruttish dialects, and has been heavily influenced by Estermerish as well as its development in isolation from the mother dialect for five centuries. Estmerish (unofficial): Especially in the Northern provinces it remains a popular language and is taught in some schools. Xa'isla dialects (protected status): Largely ignored by the government for most of its existence, the native languages gained protected status after the societal upheaval of the 1950s brought greater recognition of the country’s Native heritage.
Government Type: Authoritarian Democracy (Land-based franchise)
Head of State: Argrevan Jerart av Westtoer. The Argrevan is elected by the provincial governors (Grevann) who are in turn elected by the landowning class.
Head of Government: Same as Head of State
National Overview: The society of Skyrlant is highly militarized, with compulsory service in the military (Stathere) or the reserve (Lantwer) for all men over twenty-one for a term of three years. While the franchise has been expanded to include the entire male population, voting is still weighted with more votes going to the larger landowners, and families tend to vote together in blocs. The main political movement is the Patriotic Front (Lantfront) in favor of the conservative status quo and isolation; however, it is being challenged by the growing National Democratic Party (Natienalik Folksparti) on a platform of direct democracy, reorganizing the government into a more conventional republic, and demilitarization. .

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Openly Homosexual acts are illegal (punishable by fine), and are considered taboo by a large part of society. The Natienalik Folksparti has recently included gay rights as part of its platform.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Freedom of Conscience is considered one of the traditional “liberties” and has widespread acceptance in society. Relations between Solarian Catholicism and Protestantism are tense due to the latter’s perceived support of anti-conservative movements.
  • General population's view on atheism: Atheism is gaining support among a small sector of the younger generation; the larger population tends to ignore it.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is illegal, and is likely to remain so as no major political movement supports it.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): An informal segregation existed and in part continues to exist between the Native and Colonial populations. Being nomadic the Xa’isla nations originally lacked any influence in the government of Skyrlant, gradually being given a representative to the general government in 1921, and full franchise in 1955. Changing societal conditions have raised tensions especially regarding the revisionism promoted by the Government in the 1930s and 40s surrounding the Frestat’s founding and the controversial figure of Tomas Qwik and his war with the Native Population.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation Besides tense relationships between the natives and those of colonial descent, some minor prejudice exists against foreign cultures generally, though this has more or less disappeared in urban areas. Other recipients of prejudice include homosexual and transgender persons, although again this is evident mainly in rural areas.
  • View on immigration into country: While not opposed to immigration, Skyrlant has strict naturalization laws. This and an effective border control have kept immigration minimal, and while immigrants are initially viewed with suspicion, those who prove themselves productive members (and defenders) of society are widely welcomed.
  • Women's Rights: Female franchise is limited to married women, many of whom support the traditional societal norms regarding women’s roles, however a substantial minority support the Wifsblok, a subsidiary movement of the Natienalik Folksparti.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Tobacco and Alcohol are still widely used; all other recreational drugs are illegal, with the exception of some used in Native rituals.
