GAU Continuity Thread (OOC Brainstorming)

For those of you who stumble across this thread, this is the place to brainstorm the future of the GAU RP group... so probably not that exciting unless you are RPing with us!

I will put polls up if we don't have consensus at the end of the week.

The first question I would like to discuss is what to do with the story lines that aren't finished. Some of these are REALLY starting to drag. The Slaggep story is the prime offender.

From what I can see there are a few ways we can work around this:
a) Create new threads, carry on and hope for the best.
b) Write 'cannon' endings for the stories and start the threads fresh at a future point. I favour this idea as we can keep our characters developed while being friendly to new players.
c) Total retcon.

What do you all think?

Th second question we need to consider is which threads we want to see carry on and who wants to take ownership of them.

The city thread has always been the most active so I would suggest it stays.

Do people still want an Academy? PL had been planning to close it although personally I preferred it to the City thread.

Are there any other threads people would be burning to write?

Id still like to do the academy thread as I have more characters there that I want to continue using. Perhaps create a sequel of sorts and go with the Pitch Black arc. I did not want to abandon that...

I also have a pretty big plotline with Michael and his powers that I'd like to try and continue. I had it all planned out with Prim, and I can telegram the stuff that had been worked out to you if you want. It doesn't necessarily have to happen in the academy, but him making friends with all the people there, specifically the ones who are less morally... unscrupulous... than the Knights would've played a big part.

Hm, well, in terms of plot there is nothing really to finish other than the establishment of the villains group to act as a counter to the Knights as well as to gather villain players and give them something to do. But I suppose we can assume this group to be already founded by the time we continue.

Then there is my plethora of characters. And I am still making more with about two more orgs. These are mainly there for plot purposes and it has saddened me that I so rarely was TGed and asked for my forces or some monster for heroes to fight or some facility to be busted. As said, all except the Knights' counter group are there to make plots for the heroes.

Personally I would like to dissolve the Knights and replace them with a secret band of heroes who aren't beholden to the Government and are actually heroic (the Knights often felt like thugs with powers on the Government dime).

I wanted to jump the Academy forward to the start of the next year... everyone is a year older. Some students have graduated but if you want to keep them there they can stay on as teaching assistants.

We will also need new students.

Personally I would like to dissolve the Knights and replace them with a secret band of heroes who aren't beholden to the Government and are actually heroic (the Knights often felt like thugs with powers on the Government dime).

Can Andrew join? He would be a little sad to see his bosses go, but find himself more welcome among this new band... Or he could become an assistant at the Academy and educational student...

I am simply planning to give villain players an equal opportunity at having a somewhat organized RP instead of just dropping them into a massive sandbox and then having nobody RPing with them. And of course they would be the counter to whatever band of heroes we will have running around.

Definitely! The idea would be for a loosely aligned group, maybe with a shared hideout and without a leader.

That way your villains can have their own story that focuses on them.

Why would you need to read both threads? The whole idea of splitting it out is so that stuff that you only need to read the bits that are relevant to your character. You CAN read both threads if you are interested but you should be able to come into a situation without knowing everything that has happened to the other characters before.

A lot of your characters will become 'utility' characters who you use to bring players together and keep them on task with the story you are telling.

Which was what I was planning post fall of the Knights.

Since the NYMD disbanded, and one year has passed, most of its members have gone off here and there but still know of each other's whereabouts should they need to be helped or to help around.

Plus, with the fact that the old NYMD HQ existed within a pocket dimension, the shared hideout is already fully furnished.

They just have to get some willing heroes again.

Alice Kosa would be willing. She is an old-fashioned Cape which was why she was totally incompatible with the Knights.

So, I don't think splitting threads is a good idea. Every interaction between heroes and villains would be a crossover, and that would need to be organized to not disrupt other stories going on in the threads.

Oh, and maybe a London thread?
