Presidential Candidates

President Amy Slaton

The current 25 year-old president of Fairviolet Lake. She is an independent.

She increased funding for public transportation, brought the nation to 100% literacy, and her administration created a 1:1 computer program in the nation's public schools. She also shrunk the number of coal plants from 19 to 5, closed all 5 natural gas plants, and opened 30 new renewable energy farms. She enjoys a 57% approval rating. She was also instrumental in creating the new Constitutional Convention, which rewrote Fairviolet Lake's entire constitution, which was 3 decades old. The new constitution was approved by 79% of voters, with 5% abstaining and 16% disapproving.

Her priorities in a second term are more protections for workers, oppressed groups, and the poor. She will also work to better improve infrastructure and complete the nationalization process of the nation's energy companies, but only with a referendum. If her referendum fails, she will privatize the companies, but only after turning them into 100% sustainable organizations. She also wants to guarantee every Fairvioletian a free, 4-year public university education.

Centrist and right-wing opposition grew as she attempted to nationalize every energy company in Fairviolet Lake with excess Department of Energy funds.

Pirate Party

Mayor Riley Aiken

The current 23 year-old mayor of Greenlake. They are a member of the New Conservative Party.

They are the first non-binary person to ever hold an elected public office. They were elected in 2016 and have a 49% approval rating in Greenlake. During their tenure, they have worked with all parties in the City Council to pass budgets. Aiken eliminated the deficit, cut property tax rates, and cut the city's crime rate by nearly half.

Their priorities are reducing the debt from 40% of the GDP to 10% of the GDP by 2026, striking a deal with energy companies to move towards 100% renewable energy, and to seek private investment for 3 new infrastructure projects. They do not oppose the welfare state.

Hardline conservatives in the city have a mixed view on Aiken. Aiken represents the centrist wing of the New Conservatives, and may push right-wingers away into more extremist camps.

New Conservative Party
Free Democratic Party (revoked endorsement on January 14)

Mr. Aiden Masterson

A 31 year-old businessman from Danielson. He is an independent.

After hearing of Mayor Aiken's intent to run, Mr. Masterson threw his hat into the ring at a gathering of "alt-right" figures in Danielson. He is a controversial critic of feminism, multiculturalism, and the welfare state.

His priorities are repealing all anti-discrimination regulations passed during Slaton's presidency, resuming deportations of illegal immigrants, and reducing government spending. He also supports removing monuments celebrating Fairviolet's socialist past.

Chairwoman Katrina Francis

The 29 year-old chairwoman of the Urban Chamber of Commerce from Fletcherville.

Her priorities are prioritizing the nation's energy companies, increasing funding for STEM programs in schools, guaranteeing higher education for all, reducing income inequality, and more anti-discrimination protections. She supports removing monuments celebrating Fairviolet's socialist past.

During this election, she is also seeking to pass "Amendment 1" which would turn all federal cabinet-level positions into elected positions.

The President of Huffpoint officially endorses the Honorable Chairwoman, Katrina Francis.

Our relationship with Fairviolet Lake during the reign of "Hothead" Amy Slaton has led us down the path of uncertainty with the unpredictable leader of our ally. We would prefer that a cooler head prevail, especially in upcoming negotiations with the newly-independent Cilan.

CAMPAIGN UPDATE: 1/2/18

Amy Slaton, Riley Aiken, and Katrina Francis celebrated New Year's in the Lilyville Town Square, participating in the Annual People's March for Equality.

Aiden Masterson attended his own celebration, the March for Our People. He gave a controversial speech where he compared Amy Slaton to a turtle (the national animal of the former Socialist Republic of Fairviolet).

The New Conservative Party Leadership Committee considered endorsing Riley Aiken, Katrina Francis, or Aiden Masterson. The committee failed to reach a consensus 14 times, but showed a clear preference for Riley Aiken.

The Pirate Party held an online poll, in which 56% of members voted to endorse Katrina Francis. The Pirate Party leadership voted 10-6 to delay their decision on an endorsement until the first debate.

The Pensioner's Party endorsed Riley Aiken. "They have committed to reforming the pension system, and giving retired people across the nation more economic choices. We hope all of our members will vote for Riley Aiken."

The Dominionist Party endorsed Aiden Masterson, with their leadership committee voting 6-0.

As a country that formerly suffered under the oppressive heel of a socialist government, the government of West Jeffer, and the National Council for the Restoration of Order, Peace and Law feel that it is in the best interest of all to stop the progress of socialism in Fairviolet Lake, and for those candidates that are capable and willing to cease the spread of this dangerous ideology to be victorious in this election.

The government of West Jeffer, and the National Council for the Restoration of Order, Peace and Law strongly endorse Aiden Masterson, as he displays the willingness to combat socialism. We are strongly against another term for Amy Slaton, due to her supportive attitude to the destructive ideas and policies of socialism. No strong opinion is held on the other candidates.

As such, our ballot is as follows:

To whomever it may concern,

The House of Representatives elections will take place on January 15th.
The Chamber of Deputies elections will take place January 23rd through January 28th.
The first round of presidential elections will most likely take place on January 28th.

However, some elections could be delayed or held earlier depending on any particular municipality's event calendar.

We thank you for understanding and apologize for any inconvenience,

Amy Slaton and Riley Aiken participated in a press conference this morning where they declared support for each other in the first round of elections, after the release of polls where Aiden Masterson earns with a plurality of the vote with Slaton in second and Aiken in third.

The two encouraged their supporters to check the box of both Slaton and Aiken.

"Today, especially with the attention of the international community, we can display love in the face of hate, bravery in the face of fear, and unity in the face of division. It's imperative that fascist Aiden Masterson come in last place, and with the support of every forward-thinking Fairvioletian, we can tear down walls of hate. I happily endorse Riley Aiken in the first round of our presidential elections." - Amy Slaton

"My conservative values and Aiden Masterson's values are incompatible. He is no conservative. He is a hate monger. It is the civic duty of each Fairvioletian to look to our antifascist founding and fight for our nation. We are a people of all colors, ethnicities, and backgrounds. Together, we can reject hate and spread love to every corner of this great country. In this first round of presidential elections, I'm proud to endorse Amy Slaton. God bless you." - Riley Aiken

The two then held hands, raising their arms together.

Aiden Masterson learned of the alliance during a speech to supporters. He reacted quite angrily, "These globalist scum have united against us, the people! They want your voice to be canceled so that they may continue to serve their masters, the so-called 'international community' instead of the CITIZENS of their own nation! We are not citizens of the world! We are citizens of Fairviolet Lake! Long live us!"

Katrina Francis, currently polling in last place, did not respond when asked for comment.

The nation's left is celebrating its first victory this campaign season.

Income equality activist Justine Lyman declared victory in the hotly contested Greenlake mayoral race. She will replace the outgoing mayor Riley Aiken, who is now running for president.

Riley Aiken issued the following statement.

Congratulations to Justine Lyman on her victory in my city's mayoral election.

I look forward to seeing everyone in the city council work together to help her maintain the city's prosperity. I am encouraged by her views on the disparities between working class and the wealthiest Fairvioletians, and I am excited to see the changes she enacts as mayor.

The Free Democratic Party, already frustrated with Aiken's centrist policies, voted to revoke their endorsement of the former mayor. "We cannot endorse a candidate for President that openly praises socialists or socialism, just as the current president does. We are opening a $400m fund to pay fines for those who do not vote."

House of Representatives Election

Postby Fairviolet Lake » Tue Jan 16, 2018 10:50 am

People's Democratic Party - 3,410,051 votes (15.9% - 1593 seats)
New Conservative Party - 2,798,521 votes (13.1% - 1307 seats)
Progressive Party - 2,589,356 votes (12.1% - 1210 seats)
Pirate Party - 1,802,142 votes (8.4% - 842 seats)
Green Party - 1,587,061 votes (7.4% - 741 seats)
Urban League - 1,528,510 votes (7.2% - 714 seats)
Concerned Citizens Party - 1,409,483 votes (6.6% - 659 seats)
Pensioner's Party - 1,280,541 (6.0% - 598 seats)
Free Democratic Party - 1,011,006 (4.7% - 472 seats)
Christian Democratic Party - 1,000,671 votes (4.7% - 468 seats)
Justice Party - 992,644 votes (4.6% - 464 seats)
New Democracy - 515,492 votes (2.4% - 241 seats)
The Left - 511,664 votes (2.4% - 239 seats)
Revolutionary Alliance - 372,001 votes (1.7% - 174 seats)
National Conservative Union - 299,839 votes (1.4% - 140 seats)
Dominionist Party - 295,002 votes (1.4% - 138 seats)

The People's Democratic Party invited the Progressive Party, the Pirate Party, the Green Party, the Urban League, the Pensioner's Party, the Christian Democratic Party, and The Left to cross-party talks and negotiations to attempt to form a majority before the presidential election is completed. They are expected to offer substantial concessions to all parties involved.

The New Conservative Party will not seek to form a majority, as the Progressives and PDP would unite to bring down the Speaker.
