The Elder Scrolls: A Prophecy Fulfilled

OP: New Finnish Republic
CO-OPs: Ka Ek Akai and The Armed Republic of Dutch Colonies

When misrule takes its place at the eight corners of the world
When the Brass Tower walks and Time is reshaped
When the thrice-blessed fail and the Red Tower trembles
When the Dragonborn Ruler loses his throne, and the White Tower falls
When the Snow Tower lies sundered, kingless, bleeding
The World-Eater wakes, and the Wheel turns upon the Last Dragonborn.

-The Book of the Dragonborn

In the year 201 of the Fourth Era, Tamriel would once again be on the brink of disaster with the return of the dragons in the northern province of Skyrim. It was there where the dragon known as Alduin The World Eater attempted to bring about the end of world. Alduin would have likely succeeded had it not been for The Last Dragonborn to also miraculously appear. Master of the dragon tongue, the Dragonborn was able to permanently slay the reincarnated dragons by harvesting their souls once defeated. After going through many trials and tribulations, the Dragonborn was able to defeat Alduin and save the world from certain doom.

When news of this spread to the people of Tamriel, many rejoiced in knowing that they had been saved and many people, even the Emperor of the Empire, wished to show their gratitude to this unknown hero. Unfortunately, just as mysteriously as the Dragonborn appeared they also vanished, not leaving behind a single trace to where they had gone off to. Some claimed that the Dragonborn had been mortally wounded after the fight with Alduin while others claimed that the Dragonborn had gone into hiding to avoid all the attention, both negative and positive, that would fall upon them.

So with no more Alduin to fear nor a hero to praise, life eventually returned to normal across Tamriel. For those who called the province of Skyrim their home, things going back to normal didn’t necessarily mean that things became peaceful. While the threat of their entire world being consumed was no longer an issue, people still had much to fear.

The civil war between the Empire and the Stormcloaks continued to rage on, as did the raids of the Forsworn, the robberies from the bandits, and the various activities of the struggling guilds across Skyrim. Indeed, the area could have used someone like the Dragonborn to bring about order to the chaotic land, but unfortunately they would have to do without the unknown hero’s help.

This didn’t mean that new heroes couldn’t emerge from all of this death and destruction, however. In fact, the loss of such a hero made it the perfect opportunity for new heroes and adventurers to make a name for themselves if they were willing to risk everything for it. Will you have a chance to earn all of the fame and riches that you could ever imagine?

Likely not, seeing as your hands are bound together while you and several others are escorted to the Thalmor Embassy for interrogation. For one reason or the other, or possibly no reason at all, you have garnered the wrath of the Aldmeri Dominion, and the outcome will likely not be pretty.

Introduction

Hello, and welcome to The Elder Scrolls: A Prophecy Fulfilled! As you can guess from both the title and the exposition, this RP takes place directly after the events of the main storyline in The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. Characters will have the option of fulfilling the role of that the Dragonborn would have conventionally filled, from joining guilds to doing minor quests, as well as crafting their own stories. This can mean anything from altering the events of existing questlines to making up their original quests for themselves as well as anyone else that decides to join up with them.

To ensure that this is done in both a logical and a lore-friendly way, I have invited talents of Ik Ka Ek Akai (Also known as Kai) and The Armed Republic of Dutch Colonies(Also known as Dutchy). Together, we hope to provide something that the P2TM has been lacking: A quality Skyrim RP!

Rules

1. OP and Co-OPs words are law. We’re here to make everything works smoothly here, and any unneeded rudeness or arguing can result in you being kicked out of the RP.
2. Try o familiarize yourself with the lore to some extent before making an application, even if you think you already know. For example, if you try applying as a High Elf who’s a part of the Stormcloaks, we’re going to deny your application immediately, no matter how good everything else might be.
3. Follow all of the site’s rules, keep things PG-13 and be as kind to others as possible.
4. Follow standard RP etiquette (no godmodding, metagaming, etc.).
5. Try to keep your grammar at an acceptable level. While I’m not going to have your works be double spaced with at least five sources in MLA format, I do expect that you can write in a manner that is easy for the rest of us to understand.
6. At bare minimum a paragraph consisting of at least five sentences is required for posts. If you have to respond to someone, try and add some additional details. One-liners just look bad for both the writer and the RP as a whole.
7. Multiple characters are allowed as long as you are capable of managing the amount of interaction involved.
8. Staying active is required for anyone with characters that are currently interacting with other players’ characters. Unless it has previously noted, after 48 hours characters are free game for other players to control in order to advance the RP.
9. As stated in the FAQs, try to plan ahead for PvP fights and such in order to avoid an unending fight. It’s fine to have a fight drag out for a bit in order to make it more dramatic or whatnot, but nobody wants to read a page full of swings and misses.
10. Keep any issues you have with others private either between you and the offended party or myself and the Co-OPs.
11. Before you have any questions, first refer to the FAQs to see if it’s already been answered. If you have a question or concern that has not been answered and is deemed important, it will be placed onto the FAQs.
12. And most importantly, have fun! That’s the reason we spend hours typing away, is it not? :p

FAQs

Is it required that I have played Skyrim to join this RP?

Technically no, however knowing at least the basic setting of the game is pretty much essential to know what’s going on. You don’t have to know the entire Elder Scrolls lore, but it is highly recommended that you’re at least familiar with it before deciding to apply. However, I and the Co-OPs are more than willing to assist you should you have questions. Additionally, you can refer to the Useful Links section which will be located down below.

Can I be the Dragonborn?

No. As stated in the introduction, the Dragonborn has disappeared from all of Tamriel and has yet to be found. Obviously, this means that using any Shouts is not allowed and nor can one absorb the souls of slain dragons. Speaking of which…

Can we fight dragons?

Yes, dragons will be available as opponents, although only in very rare circumstances. The Dragonborn more or less wiped out majority of the reincarnated dragons. For the dragons that remained they have more or less gone into hiding, only coming out when discovered by unfortunate travellers. When an encounter between them and any player(s) occurs, expect a very long and difficult battle that will likely result in more than some singed eyebrows.

Can my character(s) have personally known the Dragonborn?

No. While it’s possible that your character(s) could have interacted with the Dragonborn in a minor way, such as seeing the Dragonborn during your previous travels. For the sake of keeping everyone on the same page, while most of the identity of the Dragonborn is mostly unknown, it should be noted that their appearance is that of the vanilla character; i.e. a blonde male Nord.

Can my character be a thief/fire mage/two handed badass?

No. To keep things balanced, your skills shall stay more or less be dependent on your chosen class. While this doesn’t mean your thief can’t handle a two handed sword or be able to cast a simple illusionary spell, your main talents would be in stealth, pickpocketing, lockpicking, etc. To put it simply, a thief could theoretically try and take down an opponent by using a greatsword, but he or she will likely end up doing more harm than good. Also note that while your character may have skills in certain areas, they won’t be a master at them from the beginning. While there’s no official leveling system in this game, I’d highly advise that you allow yourself room for both skill and character development.

Can my character be a Nightingale Harbinger Vampire Lord that killed the Emperor?

No (Although I’m obligated to Hail Sithis after that last bit), if you choose to either already be or plan on becoming associated with an organization, you will start from the bottom ranks. You may work your way up eventually to becoming a leader of these organizations should you choose (And you do a good job at writing about how you make your way up there), but this will take a considerable amount of time. For most people, staying as an average joe within these organizations might be for the best, as this allows a bit of flexibility, but that decision is up for you to make. Also, you can only be in one organization at a time to give more space to everyone.

Can my character interact with NPCs?

Yes, and it’s heavily encouraged. While it’s great to form relationships with other player-controlled characters, putting a new twist on the existing NPCs is definitely something that I encourage. Forming friendships, getting into fights, talking together over a glass of ale, or even marriage are all on the table as long as the NPCs stay at least somewhat true to their in-game personalities.

Who am I allowed to kill?

Technically any character, whether it be an NPC or player-controlled, is liable to meet an untimely demise.

In regards to the former, unless they are an actual named character you are free to murder away without needing to clear it with either myself or the Co-OPs first. An example of this would be a group of bandits who have attempted to kill your character for their goods. If you want to kill a named NPC, such as Jarl Balgruuf, you will need to clear this with one of us first. More than likely we’ll allow it as long as you’re aware of what consequences may follow. Exceptions to this rule are when NPCs are killed as part of pre-existing quests.

In regards to the latter, killing another player’s character (Or your own) is allowed as long as everyone involved agree on this prior to the event happening. In regards to PvP combat, try and have an idea of how the fight will start and finish as to avoid the dreaded endless cycle of “Ah ha! I dodged your sword and shot a fireball at your face!” followed by another “Ah ha! I dodged your fireball and shot my arrow at your knee!”.

Will there be any main plot line for everyone to follow?

Officially, no. Unofficially, yes. I know I will personally have my character being involved in what could be considered as a main quest, but it is completely optional for your characters to join. Something to also note will be that quests completed by others, depending on what occurred, will eventually be known to other characters and therefore affect the setting. For example, if one of your quests ends in the Forsworn retaking Markarth, this news will both be known to the rest of Skyrim and affect the rest of the RP.

There is, of course, one thing that cannot be done without the direct permission of either myself and/or the Co-OPs. And that is…

Can I have the Stormcloaks/Empire win the Civil War?

No. While the conflict will be a major background component to the RP, it will not be the main focus of it, nor will it likely be resolved at least in the near future. If your character wants to fight for either side this is acceptable, but any serious events such as a hold being taken over or a massive battle being fought will first need to be cleared.

Are the DLCs going to be a part of this RP?

The Dawnguard DLC can be included in your adventures, but for obvious reasons the Dragonborn DLC will not be included. And while it doesn’t have anything to do with the plot, the Hearthfire DLC features (Owning property and adopting children) are also applicable, but don’t expect to be able to afford a house right away, especially if you’re a meager adventurer.

Do I have to start as one of the original people captured by the Thalmor?

No, you no longer need to. In fact, to keep things from getting messy continuity-wise, we're going to ask that you are not a part of this original group unless you choose to be one of prisoners who chose to fled instead of joining the original party. Besides this, your character can more or less start off wherever you choose to, in whatever kind of messy predicament you can imagine.

This shall be updated to further address any relevant questions or concerns.

Example Applications

Einar Iron-Fist
Image

Race: Nord
Gender/Sex: Male
Age: 23
Appearance: As typical from a male Nord, Einar boasts an impressive muscular physique that bears several scars gained from his adventures. Both his long flowing hair and his untrimmed beard glow a fiery red, a trait that often makes him stick out in a crowd. Another distinguishable attribute is his height, which can almost match even an Altmer.
Organization(s) involved with: Stormcloak Rebellion
Class: Warrior
Equipment: Einar is equipped with a full set of steel armor with a green cloak often draped over his back. He wields a steel greatsword as well as keeps an extra steel dagger on his person in case his greatsword is no longer usable. In his pack he will typically carry extra clothes, rations, water, and tools to be used for simple repairs on his equipment.

Skills: Einar’s strength is on the frontlines, as his overwhelming strength and endurance make him a threat to even the toughest of opponents. While he fights best with his greatsword, he can still handle any melee weapon with relative ease. He is also a relatively skilled blacksmith, able to craft most basic equipment as well as repair it as long as he has the supplies. As a Nord, he also has a natural resistance to the harsh weather that Skyrim is renowned for, and thus most ice magic is ineffective against him.
Weaknesses: In regards to magic, Einar has no skill whatsoever. Even the simplest of spells are beyond him, which means any fighting he does is done with his martial skills alone. Enchantments and alchemy are also beyond his grasp, as is lockpicking and pickpocketing. While not clumsy by any means, Einar is unable to keep himself hidden for long when in close proximity to others, so any attempts at sneaking are mostly fruitless endeavors.
Bio: Einar Iron-Fist was born on a farm located near the wintery town of Windhelm. The son of a former Imperial Legionnaire, Einar quickly became knowledgeable in the art of fighting as his father often showed him the various tricks he’d learned in his time with the Legion after Einar had finished his chores. Einar seemed to be born a fighter, as even as a young child he seemed to possess a substantial amount of strength, no doubt from his work on his family’s farm. He’d often wrestle around with the other local boys, beating even the children several years older than him.

When his father eventually began implementing weapons training into their sessions, Einar was able to quickly learn how to use them as well. While almost every weapon outside of the bow were easy for him to use, he was most comfortable with the two handed sword his own father had used in his years of service.

In addition to this training, Einar's father also introduced him to the local blacksmith, whom was more than happy to allow the boy to learn the art of blacksmithing as an apprentice during the less busier times of the year. Under his guidance, Einar was able to learn how to both craft a blade as well as repair it and make improvements upon it. If he’d been able to dedicate more time into it, Einar could have likely became a talented blacksmith.

Unfortunately, the Civil War made such a thing impossible. Thanks to the resentment over what seemed to be a betrayal of Skyrim by the Empire, civil war had broken out across the land. Nord men and women rallied under the banner of Ulfric Stormcloak as they sought to hold onto their Nord way of life that was being threatened by the stipulations of the White-Gold Concordat.

While they worried about his safety, Einar’s parents were supportive in his decision to leave their farm to join up with the rebellion. His father himself admitted that had Einar not gone he would have likely volunteered himself. His final parting gifts would be nothing less than his father’s greatsword as well as a complete set of armor from his blacksmithing tutor. So with a mixture of fear and excitement, Einar took off to join up with the Stormcloak Rebellion.

Fortunately for him, he was greeted with open arms into the rebellion who were more than pleased to find themselves getting such a talented recruit into their ranks. Einar quickly found himself on the front line of the conflict, participating in several ambushes on Imperial patrols and raids on their outposts. In addition to fighting, he also assisted his company’s blacksmith in the repairing of weapons and the creation of new ones.

Einar would continue fighting in these minor skirmishes for almost five years until he found himself imprisoned after an ambush-gone-wrong on an Imperial supply convoy. The Stormcloaks' information on the convoy turned out to be incorrect, as there were not only supplies being transported but a large group of Thalmor Justiciars as well. Outnumbered by foes superior foes, Einar and the rest of the Stormcloaks fought valiantly but were eventually forced to surrender after suffering heavy losses.

He and the other Stormcloak prisoners were soon separated, as most were escorted to Imperial prisoner camps while Einar and one other Nord women named Emily were escorted off to the Thalmor Embassy to be interrogated. They were joined by several other prisoners, undoubtedly about to suffer the same fate.

RP Sample: (OP, sample not needed here)
Personality: Proud, Loyal, and Easily Angered
Likes: Drinking, Blacksmithing, and Hunting
Dislikes: Elves, Thieves, and Imperials
Theme song: A Man With A Plan
Voice: Björn Ironsides (Alexander Ludwig)

Aeralys
Image

Race: Bosmer
Gender/Sex: Female
Age: 20
Appearance: I think the eyes in the picture are like a reddish idk
Organization(s) involved with: None
Class: Agent I guess
Equipment: Leather clothing & armor, Bosmeri bow & arrows, Bosmeri dagger, a few pillaged potions and jewels
Skills: Good at sneaking, shooting, and talking. Also a great personality! Good complimenting skills.
Weaknesses: Bad at fighting, spellworks, and blatantly unintimidating. Not a good lifestyle or equipment. Also the class lacks anything to help mitigate damage.
Bio: Born in the warm jungles of Valenwood near the Imperial border, Aeralys had a troubled childhood. Being taught the creed by which Bosmer live, and their ways of agility, she was a very exploratory child. Seeking each branch of the trees, each cranny of the town, she ran into many less-than-reputable people, and several times was found simply exploring peoples' homes. This, naturally, was not a good combination. Her first arrest was due to unknowingly aiding a robbery, and from there it was a downward spiral

In her early teenage years, she went through a rebellious phase that only exacerbated the issues. Getting involved with bands of thieves, she ran away from home and joined up with the Thieves' Guild in Cyrodiil. Crossing the border illegally, she met up with her contacts and started her wanton looting spree. For three years she carried out robberies and thefts throughout Cyrodiil, sometimes getting caught only to break out either on her own or with the help of friends. She lived an extravagant lifestyle, collecting tokens from her robberies until the day she was taken by brigands.

The Bandits had mistaken her for someone noteworthy, pillaging her tokens and taking her as a captive. After attempting to ransom to many rich people, they found the truth- she was simply a very good thief. Once this was discovered, she was beaten by the brigands , and it was in that revelation that she figured her escape. After a few small suggestions implanted into the minds of a few bandits, she overheard talk of being "passed around". Seeing her implants come to fruition, she was released from her cell by a guard who had attempted to bring her to the group. With this , she stabbed him viciously with a makeshift blade, looted the immediate vicinity of what she could, and ran into the dark night.
Now free, she returned to Valenwood for a brief period, feeling unsafe in the realm of man. Getting back in touch with old contacts, she found limited success. With her confidence restored, she crossed again a few years later back into imperial territory. Avoiding the guild, having now been branded a killer (even if by necessity), she did a few independent jobs in the area, all while working her way north to Skyrim. That frozen land, seemingly divided by war, also happened to have a strong Aldmeri presence that she could fall back on if needed. She attempted to cross once again, only to be caught on the border. Arrested for illegally crossing, her list of crimes past came up, as did her list of escapes. Tossed in with a group of other prisoners, her silver tongue seems to be failing her- not that she won't try and try again with every new guard she meets.
RP Sample: this is my first time you gotta trust me

Personality: Sly and scheming, Aeralys is vigilant in keeping her surroundings in mind. She is of a silver tongue and can talk her way out of a lot, but her ways do necessitate a poor reputation, and this eats at her self-confidence- perpetuating a cruel cycle of crime.
Likes: Butterflies, rainbows, diamonds, rubies, sapphires, emeralds, gold, silver
Dislikes: Guards
Theme song: good movie overall
Voice: Thanks, Dutchy

Astanya of Cloudrest
Image

Race: Altmer
Gender/Sex: Female
Age: 52
Appearance: Astanya stands slightly taller than the average Altmer, with the typical Altmeri golden-yellow skin and blond hair, although with slightly softer facial features that cause her to somewhat fail when it comes to Altmeri beauty standards. A minor scar appears on her left forearm, which has only been acquired recently, the tissue still fresh.
Organizations involved with: The Aldmeri Dominion, despite her current predicament. Less of an organization and more of a political affiliation. Not involved with any organizations other than that.
Class: Mage.
Equipment: The robes pictured in the image to the right – soft, warm, overall comfortable, and terribly not-Altmer. Other than those, in the way of equipment Astanya keeps a fancy blade and dagger of Altmeri making, both fashioned from steel, at hand in case her reserves of magicka are depleted and summoning a weapon isn't an option. Her pouch has several potions of magicka in it, for obvious reasons, as well as a few potions of health to assist in the healing of any injuries. An amulet of Auri-El, the Elven variant of Akatosh, hangs around her neck. Other than that a backpack containing a journal, ink, a few good feathers, several empty soul gems, and some basic supplies such as rope, a water skin, a bedroll, and a tinderbox.
Skills: All things magical. Astanya is skilled in all schools of magic – or rather, she denounces the schools of magic as being a tool for mere simpletons, for a true mage uses all, and no spell can truly be classified as belonging to one school only! Other than this, she is a competent enough alchemist and enchanter. Astanya has studied plenty of ancient ruins before, and has a great deal of knowledge on the matter – although less so on those pesky Nordic ruins. She's also quite decent at insulting people.
Weaknesses: Practically anything physical. Close quarters combat without use of magic, archery, anything requiring running for a prolonged amount of time, jumping more than two meters in front of her or practically any acrobatic feat – you name it. Socializing with anyone that is not Altmer, or perhaps Bosmer, is not her strongest point, either. Like any other Altmer, she, too, has a weakness to magically inflicted damage.
Bio: Astanya was born in the city of Cloudrest in the Summerset Isles, atop the highest mountain of all of those Isles. Hailing from a commoner's family, she nevertheless found herself with proper education, and plenty of access to whatever books she would desire to read, in part thanks to her parents' affiliation with the Thalmor. Like any proper Altmer, Astanya was born with an innate affinity for anything related to magic, which was naturally included in her many studies from early on.
Having barely entered adulthood, the Great War came, and while she was not involved in any direct combat, Astanya did help provide the frontlines with potions, while also travelling to Hammerfell and Cyrodiil, investigating Ayleid, Dwemer, and Yokudan ruins there while the surrounding lands remained in Dominion hands – for the time being. Following the war's
conclusion, she returned to Cloudrest, compiling her research notes into several books that ended up being published.
Starting a career as a writer, Astanya wrote stories for adults and children alike, as well as works of a more scholarly nature – her systematic comparison of Imga, the ape-men of Valenwood, with Bretons, ultimately claiming the Imga culture to be superior, proved to be especially popular. The Altmer went on several expeditions to Valenwood to further study the Ayleid, and eventually even across the Dominion's borders into Cyrodiil.
Eventually, finding herself to have researched the Ayleid for longer than the average lifespan of their slaves, Astanya decided to at least temporarily focus on other research. Deciding a trip to Hammerfell to continue her studies on ancient Yokuda would be a little too risky, she instead opted to continue her research on the Dwemer – for which she would have to go to either Morrowind, or Skyrim. With the former being a little too volcanic in nature, and the latter having an established Dominion presence, the decision was made, and Astanya ventured off, northwards.
As luck would have it, upon her arrival there she found the province to be locked in a Civil War, and not shortly afterwards dragons seemed to have returned. Close to calling her research trip off for the disaster that it was, Astanya quickly came to the conclusion that she would not let herself be beaten by the homeland of the Nords, and focused on salvaging as much of it all as possible, researching both the Dwemer and Nordic culture.
The latter ended up getting her in trouble, recently. While observing some Nordic religious practices in Skyrim's wilderness, she found herself caught in the middle of an ambush prepared by her beloved Dominion's enforcers – ending up arrested as a result. Now, she finds herself dragged towards the Thalmor Embassy, ready to make her protest and to show those poor fellows just who exactly it is they arrested!

It's already there, but - here's my app (again)!

Less of an organisation and more of a political affiliation. Not involved with any organisations other than that.

Other than that a backpack containing a journal, ink, a few good feathers, several empty soul gems, and some basic supplies such as rope, a waterskin, a bedroll, and a tinderbox.

Socialising with anyone that is not Altmer, or perhaps Bosmer, is not her strongest point, either.

Having barely entered adulthood, the Great War came, and while she was not involved in any direct combat, Astanya did help provide the frontlines with potions, while also travelling to Hammerfell and Cyrodiiil, investigating Ayleid, Dwemer, and Yokudan ruins there while the surrounding lands remained in Dominion hands – for the time being. Following the war's conclusion, she returned to Cloudrest, compiling her research notes into several books that ended up being published.

Dutchy, Kai, and I are reposting our apps for cataloging purposes.

If you're wanting to be what we would consider a knight, I'm going to have to decline that. The reason is that, although "Knights" have existed in the game, they are less the professional soldiers/nobles that were present in our own past and more along the lines of members of certain organizations.

Now if you would like to be a wandering soldier-for-hire, this would make more sense.

My third Breton-something else hybrid in as many RPs because why wouldn't I

Tharsten Seabourne

Race: Nord-Breton
Gender/Sex: male
Age: 34
Appearance:
Image
Tharsten is of average height for a Breton, although Nords would probably consider him a full six inches below their mean. A once pudgy frame has undergone a complete transformation in the last decade - he is now banded with muscle built from years of slave labor and several years more adventuring across much of Tamriel. Given his dark hair and green eyes, he is practically never taken for having any Nordic blood whatsoever.

Organization(s) involved with: none currently
Class: Rogue
Equipment: Relatively plain boiled leather armor and boots, worn but comfortable traveling clothes and large cloak, Dunmer-made wakizashi, steel dagger, an amulet of Kynareth granting Tharsten a slight but noticeable boost to his stamina and speed.
Skills: Tharsten is quite skilled in close-quarters combat while wearing mobile light armor and utilizing short blades like daggers and his treasured wakizashi. Excellent knifework means that he will often try to get around and then under swings where he can get close and become quite lethal. He also has a profound knack for weaseling information out of people and talking his way out of undesirable situations. Tharsten's ability to sneak is decent, but he is no master and an experienced listener and observer will have an equally decent chance of catching him in the act.
Weaknesses: Other than the most rudimentary of destruction spells, practically all magic is beyond Tharsten, as he has no magical education whatsoever and minimal practice. He is also quite inept with any manner of ranged weapon. Heavy armor renders him a sitting duck, and two-handed weapons are available but not very useful at all for him.

Bio:
Tharsten Seabourne, second son of prominent Rift landowner and merchant Baslod Seabourne, was never sufficiently Nordic enough to be a true Nord of Skyrim, despite his birth and upbringing on a large estate near Ivarstead.

A simple explanation would be his blood. Several years after his first wife, Innbild, died in the childbirth of his eldest son Kjelden, Baslod remarried to a Breton noblewoman named Jianna Fontaine. Tharsten resembled his Breton mother far more than his Nord father, possessing her dark hair, green eyes and smaller frame.

High Rock seemed to rub off on him in other ways, too. Tharsten was less inclined to the skills of war than to erudite topics like history, literature, theology, oratory and law. This pleased his mother and the aristocrat in his father to no end.

It caused only animosity between him and Kjelden, however. The elder Seabourne brother mocked Tharsten almost without mercy and looked down on him as an example of un-Nordicness, with his books, squeamishness and lack of a real martial education.

Eventually Baslod became a little bit embarrassed of Tharsten and sent him south to run Seabourne commercial affairs in Cyrodiil when he was nineteen. In a mere year, Tharsten had turned a barely afloat trading operation into one that was firmly in the black and expanding all the time. By the time he was twenty-two, the Seabourne Trading Company's success was eating into the profits of the East Empire Company and the young merchant was beginning to make a name for himself.

So successful were his endeavors that Tharsten made the fateful decision to open a branch in war-torn Morrowind, an expansion which he personally oversaw from the Redoran capital at Blacklight. Initially, things went superbly, as the Dunmer nobles greatly appreciated the flow of luxury goods from other provinces. But then it got out that the Seabournes had inadvertently sold arms and armor to a band of Argonians, who were now reaving and slaughtering Dunmer all over Morrowind.

Without another word, House Redoran seized Tharsten and threw him into an ebony mine to die. For three years he toiled in the Velothi Mountains, working himself near to death under the vicious whip of a Redoran overseer. The labor hardened his body and soul, alike, wasting away the fat of a merchant's life and replacing it with muscle, eroding the sophistication of his past life and replacing it with the sheer will to stay alive.

Tharsten made a number of friends in the mines, greatest among them Ser Clarence, an aging Breton knight. Clarence taught him how to use a blade, not in any noble, knightly way, but in a vicious and rapid manner suitable for the tight spaces of the underground. Tharsten became proficient. Then he became superb.

A day came -Tharsten has trouble remembering which one, exactly- when the miners had simply had enough. There was great bloodshed through several hours of tunnel fighting, but the mass of desperate miners overcame their Redoran captors and emerged into freedom.

Tharsten was free, but otherwise directionless. The only legacy of his long captivity was a steel wakizashi blade pried from the dead hands of a Dunmer slavedriver. The company he had built was dissolved or otherwise out of his hands. He returned to Skyrim only to find that his father had passed away in the interlude, leaving an unsympathetic Kjelden in charge of the family estate.

Cyrodiil called Tharsten again, when Skyrim turned him away. He drifted south, working protection jobs for a variety of clients, shady or otherwise. At some point he turned to amateur thievery on the side.

Tharsten spent the next several years this way: moving from city to city, doing a job or two, never staying long. Occasional combat with bandits or monsters allowed him to keep his skills relatively sharp while remaining anonymous, never flying too close to the sun or seeking to make a real name for himself.

It was only once he entered Hammerfell that the wheel of fate began to spin Tharsten Seabourne about.

After a year of adventuring there, Tharsten had some close friends, chief among them the nomad Reguard warrior Kottiq. But the Thalmor, engaged in a war of shadows with the Empire over influence in the otherwise independent province, stole him away in the dark of night to one of their safehouses in Sentinel. Kottiq was known to be possessed of a strong pro-Empire bent, and his friendly dealings with the Penitus Oculatus bore that out.

Tharsten tracked them through the dark streets of Sentinel, but his attempted rescue went poorly. In the ensuing melee, Kottiq was killed, as were two Thalmor agents and their commanding justiciar. Both parties were forced to flee the scene as the city guard approached, leaving the surviving Aldmeri to put a name to Tharsten's face and disseminate the information around their provincial intelligence networks.

Sure enough, when Tharsten crossed into Skyrim by way of Dragonstar just a few months later, he was very rapidly apprehended by Thalmor agents, bound, knocked over the head and dragged away.

With all due respect, that is REALLY a stretch for your character to be aware of him being a descendant of the Red Eagle. If you can further explain how this will come about, I'll consider it. If not, maybe it'd be better instead to be a Reachman who simply is using the legend of the Red Eagle as an inspiration to restore the Rift.

Rodez wrote:-snip-

Two things:

1) In your app, you mention your character being trained by a Breton knight. As was previously established in my reply to Rygondria, knights aren't really a thing in the Elder Scrolls with the exception of a select few organizations. To my knowledge, the only serious mention of knights that resemble our own historical figures would be in the Elder Scrolls Online as well as a generic description in the Knight Class (Which was more than likely named as such just because we as players know what a stereotypical knight is). It's a minor thing, but I will ask that you edit that part to have the tutor be something else. If you can show me concrete evidence of an actual knight being plausible in the time period of Skyrim, I'll change my decision.

2) For your RP sample you say that we've seen you around. No offense, but neither Kai nor I recognize you or your previous name. Now it's clear that Dutch must know you, but until he vouches for you I'd still like to see an actual example. Not trying to be rude, just trying to keep things fair for everyone.

Outside of these two minor things, I'm perfectly fine with your app. Once we get them straightened out, I'll be happy to accept the remainder of it.

The links should prove helpful, but if you still have questions feel free to ask and we'll try to set up on the right path!

Known mostly as Finn, but also known as a few other things I can't put in a signature by those who know me.

What about a son of a minor nobles son who is far beyond the line of succession and has decided to stake his fortune in the north, all the while fitting the personality types I have listed above, will probably make him an imperial to add to the upstart noble born aspect of him.

That's a bit more reasonable.

*ahem* if you be so kind.

I'll just go the inspiriation route, try to get Red Eagle's blessing to use his sword to restore the Rift.
This account must be deleted. The person behind it is a racist, annoying waste of life that must be shunned back to whatever rock he crawled out from.

We have been informed by our resident lore expert that High Rock has "an absolutely massive amount of knightly orders", and that Cyrodiil has a few valid ones too.
