Communist Party power struggle leaves two dead in Viejo

The internal power struggle within the Communist Party of San Feliz has continued, as gunmen affiliated with the hardline communist branch of the party attacked President Rose Vicario while she was delivering a speech in Viejo, in retaliation for an attack that was blamed on Vicario. The original attack left seven dead and targeted Vicario’s enemies, which is the reason why the assault by Sebastian Arias’ men was blamed on the President, who Arias and the Calderon Cartel supposedly made a deal with that would see the Cartel align with Vicario against her enemies.

The new attack has left two dead, with both casualties belonging to Vicario’s bodyguards who took on the gunmen. The speech took place in an outdoors area and it is believed that the two gunmen bribed security to gain entry into the area, where they were fully armed. They would attack with grenades and revolvers, but Vicario escaped the stage and was escorted away by bodyguards, while the rest of her security team descended on the threat. Gunfire resulted in the deaths of two of these bodyguards, but both gunmen were shot and killed before they could leave the sectioned off part of town, near the Viejo University.

It is believed that the gunmen were working to get retaliation on Vicario, because they were found to have phone contact with multiple members of the Communist Party who come from the more hardline opposition wing, which was attacked by Vicario’s men in Calderon. The Viejo Police Department has turned their investigation over to the Calderon City Police, which typically handles security for high profile individuals and crimes involving them. The Communist Party has not issued a statement, as usual.

Regency Council votes to start a Republic
By Lucinda Minsk | @luaminsk | lucinda@mod.org

Amesberg, Midphalia (MOD) -- Early this morning, the spokesperson for the Midphalian Royal Regency Council, announced that the Regency Council has found the von Murls incompetent to rule Midphalia, as they have since the fall of the Kovakian Empire. Adolf von Murl, who died last year at 84, left no direct heir and left the Regency Council to decide on the next von Murl.

The von Murls are the current ruling dynasty of Volgaria, a nation which Midphalia has had friendly ties since the beginning of the Almannic Empire. Currently, the Regency Council is set to continue ruling until a constitution or a competent government can be formed, otherwise, the choice will be rethought in a year exactly. However, this new threat to the Volgarian sphere of influence could be counted as an attack on Volgaria. The President of the Regency Council, the elected Count of Amesberg, has called on the Coalition of Democratic Nation to protect the new Republic.

President Ihejirika issues sharp rebuke of murder of Veleazan refugees
By Basim Atuf, Senior Staff Writer
Image

AL-KHATIN ISLAND, ONZA - In an unusual diplomatic move, the Ivory Tower issued a barbed statement strongly criticizing the Veleazan government for the shooting of two refugees attempting to cross into Midrasia, as well as the government's response to the incident. According to Midrasian media and evidence reviewed by the Chronicle, a family of three made an attempt to cross the border into Midrasia. Of the three -- a mother and two children, one female and one male -- the son and the mother were both killed by Veleazan militants, while the daughter escaped into Midrasia.

The incident prompted a strong response from Midrasian Prime Minister Melcion Portas, who said in a speech to the Midrasian Parliament that he would amplify pressure on the international community to sanction the state. The government clarified to the press that while war is still unlikely, the conflict will certainly result in an escalation of tensions.

Portas also hinted that he may appeal to the Commonwealth of Democratic Nations -- an alliance and international body which the UDE is a member of -- to address the incident.

The UDE's response
President Mustapha Ihejirika admonished the Communist nation in a statement that breaks heavily from Onza's traditional, isolationist approach to foreign affairs. Although Ihejirika does not technically assume the office of the Presidency until 1 January, the period following the inauguration is considered fair game for the inaugurate to exercise the powers of the office, assuming they have obtained the consent of the sitting President.

The entire statement was roughly 350 words. Ihejirika began by recognizing Midrasia for embracing the Veleazan refugees. "We must first recognize the heroes of this situation -- were it not for the Midrasians, not a single life would have been preserved, and countless others who have successfully escaped to a better life would still be living under the barbarous regime that claims to rule Veleaz."

The statement then chastised the Veleazan government for its policy of shooting refugees attempting to flee. "To ask one to fathom that in this day and age, a regime so vile and cruel as the government under Enrique Vincente and Ferdinand Conti still existing, would be to ask the impossible. The Veleazan policy of shooting unarmed refugees simply because they are attempting to flee is at best emblematic of the pitiful state of denial that Veleaz is in concerning its failures to its people and at worst the most wicked and egregious assault on human rights in Asura."

Ihejirika also lambasted the nation for its response, delivered via Veleazan state media, to the incident, calling the regime "spineless." In particular, this portion of the statement focused on what Ihejirika sees as weakness -- that is, for a government to ordain the extrajudicial execution of unarmed citizens attempting to flee.

What may happen next?
It's hard to say. Many are expecting Portas to approach the CDN about sanctioning the nation. Should such a thing occur, the actions that Onza can -- and in some cases is mandated to -- legally take are somewhat debatable, given the unusual nature of this statement. In fact, statements from sitting Onzaian Presidents concerning international affairs are incredibly rare, with the vast majority having been issued under Xolani Kojo's administration.

Ihejirika cited a Constitutional provision in his statement that appears to require Onza to act in the interest of human rights on the international stage. The controversial section, located in Article II of the document, was written in during the drafting process as part of a compromise between the Dem Socs and the Liberals concerning how the Emirates should approach other nations of the world. In spite of this, all Presidents leading up to Kojo have adhered to the Mudima Doctrine -- named for President Adewale Mudima, who began a de facto policy of isolationism during his Presidency. The so-called Kojo Doctrine refers to the break from isolationism that began earlier this year when President Xolani Kojo began greatly expanding Onza's involvement in international affairs.

Critics have noted that the aforesaid provision does not specify the criteria for what constitutes a violation of human rights. Proponents have asserted that the rights guaranteed by the Onzaian Constitution should be adopted as the Emirates' definition of "human rights," and that protection of these should be extended to the international stage whenever possible. Thus, Ihejirika is taking a major stand on an issue that has been questioned since Kojo began his foreign policy shakeup -- a stance that may shape Onzaian politics for quite some time.

Should the CDN be asked to consider sanctions, and if they do, then Ihejirika will almost certainly direct Onza's delegation to vote in favor of the provisions -- a move that will win Ihejirika more gravitas with several Dem Socs and even some Liberals, but will greatly strain his position with others who have called for a hard return to the Mudima Doctrine.

How does this affect Onzaian politics?
The most obvious way the UDE's response to this incident will influence its politics is that this is an unusually-prominent opportunity to either cement the status of the Kojo Doctrine under Ihejirika's administration or bring it screeching to a halt. Ihejirika is currently enjoying a record-high approval rating, but this will likely see some decline among the parties opposed to the Kojo Doctrine should Ihejirika vote to sanction Veleaz. In fact, regardless of what happens beyond this point, the issuing of this unusual reproach will certainly garner some negative attention from the pro-isolationism camp.

In other words, it's going to become increasingly harder for those in Congress to straddle the median between isolationism and globalism, and the move may make or break Senators and Assemblymen alike who take a position that their electorate finds unfavorable. Some analysts expect this to give a big boost to the Dem Socs, who managed to regain a majority in the Senate, and allow them to hold their gains from this past election. Others, however, are warning that the continued polarization of the issue may implode the Dem Socs' renewed support following President Shakil Hussain's unpopular Presidency last decade.

Midphalian regency council abolish Monarchy. König issues ultimatum

The Midphalian Regency Council has chosen to destroy their historic monarchy and establish a republic on shaky grounds.

For nearly three centuries, Volgaria and Midphalia have been ruled by the House of von Muerl. An important factor in their close relationship and long-time friendship. That changed however, when the Duke of Midphalia, a close friend of the König, passed away just last year and the regency council assumed control of the nation.

The König reportedly said that the decision was made by an "Irresponsible" and "Temporary" government and the issue should've been decided on by the future Duke. Only three hours after the Regency council voted, the König issued an ultimatum, stating that if the Midphalian council does not reverse the decision within 48 hours, they will be met with military intervention from Volgaria.

More on this story as it progresses.

Rhuritanian Civil War
Peacekeeping in the Rhuritanian Gulf
News >> International >> War (News >> Politics >> Foreign Relations | News >> International >> CDN Peacekeeping) | Posted: 17 September 2017 14:00
On September 15th, an attempted coup began in the Commonwealth of Rhuritania, perpetrated by its fractured armed forces and has since taken control of numerous government buildings within the nation’s capital city, among many others. In an attempt to overthrow the new, democratically elected government, the military has claimed ties with a far-right political movement which has very vocally taken issue with the recent path of the nation. As the violence escalated over the past two days, more splintering within the nation’s armed forces resulted in the emergence of a second faction which now, also stands in opposition to the current government. The small faction, claiming association with communist and other far-left political movements, is now gaining ground and only further threatens the fragile state of the nation.

Now as Rhuritania is slowly torn apart and the future of its democracy hangs by a thread, presiding President of the Council for the Commonwealth of Democratic Nations Anna Storgaard, alongside the President of Glanodel Nikolaj Svendsen, have made the following announcement as of September 17, 1326:

“Hello, and good afternoon. In light of recent events which have transpired in the war-torn nation of the Commonwealth of Rhuritania, a once stable democracy along the eastern coast of Asura, the nations of the CDN have decided that it is in the interest of both the wellbeing of Rhuritania’s citizens and regional stability that we take drastic actions against the undesirable elements seeking to threaten freedom and liberty.

Image
As we speak, Glanish, Navish, Aquidnian, Delfine, and Newreyan ships, troops, and aircrafts are in route to the Rhuritanian Gulf, while additional troops from the Aquidnian, Delfine, and Chalcian armed forces are being deployed into the Asur. To all nations seeking to interfere in this dangerous political climate and attempt to support either of the factions attempting a coup, hear this warning and heed it well.

The Commonwealth of Democratic Nations exists in opposition to all who would threaten the rule of law, the advancements of liberties, and the freedom to seek one’s own path. In that endeavor, the CDN peacekeeping forces will be advancing on Rhuritania and shall from this moment on be establishing a blockade along the coasts of both that nation, as well as the eastern half of Asur. No ships will be allowed to break this blockade and will be sunk if they violate the perimeter. Additionally, a no-fly zone shall be established over the nation of Rhuritania from this moment on, until further notice. Any aircrafts discovered to be in violation of this zone will be escorted to a CDN base immediately. Any aircrafts who do not comply with the order to escort or land, will be shot from the sky.

Please do not be the catalysts of chaos in this troublesome time. Both the government of Glanodel and all the nations of the CDN hope for a swift end to this senseless violence and death.”

Protests in Rhyzevskygrad turn violent as police disperse protestors with live rifle fire.

Image

After nearly a week of constant protest in the city of Rhyzevskygrad the first signs of frustration could be seen amongst the officers attempting to contain it. In the early hours officers were met with loud chants from the protesting side to which they responded with a volley of rubber bullets. Protestors reacted by using the bricks of the road in Khitrostkev Square as projectiles, throwing them into the air at police positions. 7 police were injured in the exchange and nearly 17 protesters were hurt. Head of the GRChSGS operation in the area, Valerey Isofev called the incident "a transition from a demonstration to a riot. They intended to kill officers, no one throws such large chunks of stone with out the intent to kill or viciously harm." It was after this incident that Isofev called for live fire to be used against protestors sighting "increased violence" on part of the protestors for his decision.

Image
GRChSGS Officers firing a shotgun
At 5:38 pm members of the GRChSGS fired upon protestors with rifle and shotgun fire after a group of protestors breached a firstline baracade. This initial shooting resulted in three dead and 7 injured mostly from buck shot fired from a shotgun. This was soon met with more stones and bricks being thrown at officers. This was met with another live fire volley in which a total of 19 people were killed and 62 people were injured. A third volley was then fired at the eastern end of the Square where 1 person was killed and 21 were injured. One person described the situation like "a war zone you'd only see at the cinema" and further said "they're trying to silence us with bullets because they truely fear what we are doing here."

Image
Decapitated head of Vadim Khitrostkev
Protestors responded by continuing to throw stones and even large pieces of metal at police officers, protestors were then met with limited fire from the police. Protestors using hammers and other stones and sheer force were able to topple the squares symbolic statue of Vadim Khitrostkev, the founder of the Autonomous Socialist Republic and name sake of the square. We know of a least one person shot while attempting to take down the statue. Frol Tikhonov in a speech given at his dacha near Napiltsk said that "protestors must be stopped before they kill a hard working officer. These young people simply do not understand the trials and tribulations we as a people have gone through to maintain our independence and identity. Now they want us to fall to the pseudodemocracies of the west as if it will help. The solution is not to fight the state the solution is to contribute to the state."

Head of State Dragoslav Afanasyev just a kilometer away from the protest that "we must reconcile as a nation, the state, and the the protestors must come to speak on equal terms and to understand where each other is coming from. We can not risk further bloodshed and if we shed anymore blood im afraid our nation will be beyond saving." It is noted for its distinct tonal differences from that of Tikhonov's and many see it as a departure of the two branches of government. Afanasyev had just returned from a meeting with Defense Minister Yulitov in central Vynozhia. It is speculated that they went to discuss political business revolving around the protests, some are saying it was even a discussion on how to effectively remove Tihkonov from power.

We will keep you updated on this news as it comes in.

Karuolinda joins the Commonwealth of Democratic Nations as an observer state

Göttingen, Caruolinda - After nearly a week of negotiations and voting with and amongst the CDN, the Karuolindan government has confirmed that the nation will join the organization as an observer state. The diplomatic move has also been formalized by the Commonwealth in one of its latest reports, thus making Karuolinda the latest nation to join the organization as an observer nation. The status granted will give the Karuolindan government the following rights:

  1. Speaking rights for one delegate within both chambers of the Aeian Parliament, the Council and the Assembly
  2. Ability to submit proposals in both chambers, but not vote on any
  3. Preferential trading status with the members in the single market (although the nation is not in the market itself)
  4. Aptitude to participate in events, operations and projects of the Aeian Community if authorized by the Aeian Parliament

The move is a diplomatic victory for the Karuolindan government after the establishment of its long term goal of approaching the nation to the Asuran continent for economic and social integration, especially given the circumstances in the north of the Rennekkan continent. Prime minister Rothberg has also stated that "even if the status of observer does not grant us much, we will have the goal of eventually seeking full membership and integration."

Senate Proposes Vvardeni Mediation Between Midphalia and Volgaria

Concerned about the possible outbreak of war between Midphalia and Volgaria, the Senate has proposed that Vvarden mediate the current crisis between the two nations, in the wake of the Midphalian Regency Council's decision to abolish the monarchy. Vvarden, a neutral nation that has not recently made threats or any aggressive actions against others, is seen as the best choice to arbitrate and organise a summit in order to solve the question of the future status of the Midphalian government. As Vvarden has cordial relations with both, with no recent history of any violence or tensions between Vvarden and the two, it is likely that both sides will agree to such terms.

The Grand Speaker is currently preparing a group of Ambassadors, led by Speaker Gullo Varain, to help solve the issue. In the meanwhile, Vvarden has invited representatives or members of both the Midphalian and Volgarian governments to Vvarden to begin negotiations. Speaker Gullo Varain has for many years been known as a calm and loyal presence within the Grand Speaker's Party, and his experience with administering negotiations was shown in two different disputes between Vokun tribes. Varain has been called by many to be a masterful diplomat, who fully involves himself in both sides of the story, and thus will hopefully prove his worth in the negotiations.

The negotiations are planned to begin two weeks from now, in Zoroshthurvan's Debating House, if both sides agree to Vvarden's decision to step in. The Grand Speaker has also reminded both sides that if one of them fails to turn up, then Vvardeni relations with said offender would be strained and would be seen as risking peace in Rennekka, as well as if one of the sides refuses to attend the negotiations. The Grand Speaker has reminded both countries that despite Vvarden being a neutral nation, it will "strive to protect peace on this continent using nearly every means available to us", a statement which has gained controversy in the Senate.

Terrorist Attack in Telvthas Kills Four

A bomb blast today in the middle of the city of Telvthas has wounded over twenty people and has killed four. The bomb exploded in the lobby of the Rothaai Sunset Hotel, at 10:33 in the morning, causing major damage to the first floor. Hotel occupants were evacuated soon after the blast amid fears that the explosion would cause the first floor, and ultimately the entire building to collapse. According to reports by the police and numerous forensic and ballistic experts, only a small amount of the explosive material actually detonated, which undoubtedly saved the building and prevented further casualties. Telvthas, outside of Saadalnim, but with a large Saadalnimic minority, taking up a third of it's population, was called by the Schaadalnim des Vondrasland to be an integral piece of Saadalnim, and threatened all non-Saadalnimic residents to leave. Now it has seemed that the group has carried out their threat.

So far the Schaadalnim des Vondrasland group have not claimed responsibility, but many say it is only a matter of time before they do so. A slim minority however, suggest that despite the threats, the Schaadalnim des Vondrasland group may not have been responsible, and that it was only made to look like they were responsible, but those that proposed the theory said that more evidence would be needed to prove that.

Senate Plans To Spend $2.5 Billion In Order To Encourage Electric Cars

One of the main topics in the last election, which brought Grand Speaker Ralos Nivastar Zorosh to power, was bringing an end to Vvarden's rising levels of air pollution and to shut down heavy polluting businesses and power plants in order to transition Vvarden from being a coal energy using to a renewable and nuclear energy using nation. The plan, detailed as the Plan For Vvarden's Reconnection With The Land, involved the establishment of more renewable energy sources such as solar and wind, many of which have been delivered. But now the Grand Speaker has proposed an additional task to the Green Plan, as it is nicknamed, to encourage the use of electric cars among the people of Vvarden rather than petrol or diesel using cars. The Senate has proposed the following in order to achieve the plan:

  1. Guarantee a space assigned for EV charging.
  2. Free parking for residents (annual fee exemption).
  3. 75% reduction in vehicle tax for owners of electric cars
  4. Construction of a hundred more electric car charging stations across Vvarden

So far, Vvarden is on the track to fulfilling the Green Plan, much to the delight of environmentalists and climate change experts across both
Vvarden and Aeia, and is well on the way to fulfilling the plan to be completely carbon neutral by 2040.

Die Kommissare Jakob Olstaden und Gabriele kommen auf Pflaumeninsel an
Über der Pflaumeninsel

Image

We start this week as our Commissar of Foreign Affairs, Jakob Olstaden, and Commissar-General Gabriele Abelkis arrive on the Island nation of Pflaumeninsel {Aquidish: Isolaprugna} in response to the long-awaited “Costapunente Summit”. The Summit was organized by the Islands President Emanuela Amatore, proposing it shortly after the surrender of the Varshanka Provisorische Regierung. Pflaumeninsel itself was once a colony of Aquidneck, however after its independence it acts as the only Georgist nation to exist on Aeia. When asked regarding the subject, Amatore claimed that “She hoped her nations relatively Neutral political and ideological stance would create an environment in which the increasingly divided states of Vestrim could Cooperate and Coexist.”

Among the Ovan Representatives, we can confirm that Delegates from Luixiana, Größervhizen, Nadelküste, Attimeka, und der Föderationdemokratisch have arrived to take part in the summit, with delegates from several of the Commonwealths allies, namely Karjarma and Faldarun, being strangely absent.

Vorhut Aufständische werden vom Grenzwächter von Nadelküst gefangen genommen
Vanguard Insurgents caught by Nadelküstian Border Guard

In other news this week, the Foreign Affairs Delegation of the Nadelküstian Commonwealth has recently announced the capture of several Vorhut Insurgents, Supporters, and Political Escapee’s attempting to illegally cross the Ovan-Nadel border. Officially, 42 Adult Men and Women from the Vorhut alongside 23 Non-Combatant Families were have been scheduled for deportation back to the Commonwealth. This includes the Baron Astovan van Heldisberg, a pre-war Aristocrat wanted by the Kardinalarmee for funding the Varshanka Royalist Government and the suspected arming of several Varshanka Terrorist and Insurgent groups, specifically the “Vorhut”, “Königsmänner”, and the “Loyalistische Bruderschaft”.

Schweisein Kommune inmitten wirtschaftlicher Kontroverse
Schweisein Commune amidst economic controversy

In Schweisein this week, the Commune has come under a wave of Controversy as slight tension between the OSVKP and the local coalition of Syndicates lead in part by the Schweisein Industrieunion (S.I.U.). The Controversy began after the Party passed legislation legalizing Nationally-funded Abortion and Euthanasia Operations. This was refuted by the SIU who then performed an economic action known as a ‘Zange Pierce’, when several Syndicates or Organization reallocate and stall the installation or development of new infrastructure. In this case, the SIU disbanded several Hospital stations set to implement equipment in accordance with the new laws and set them up for reallocation.

In essence, the SIU was able to avoide the new legislation by not enforcing local businesses to cede land for new development, collectivizing potential development land, or re-administrating hospitals, making the implementation of new equipment arduous and difficult. This came to ahead yesterday after a Schweisein Party Member attempted to pass legislation banning Zange-Pierce activity before being Sued by the SIU on the grounds of “Abuse of Power” and “Infringement of Collective Authority”. Of course, this merely ties into a larger issue of the divide between the Syndicalist and Communist bloc’s within the Commonwealth, but where this will lead, we cannot say for sure.

Ochën unter Belagerung!
Ochën under Siege!

In the first major military action this week, the Schweisein-Särgahn Kombinierte Front reached the Ochën Peninsula and has officially engaged the royalist Königsmänner. Established after the Varshanka Royalist Government Surrendered after the Battle for Jannik, the Königsmänner have been classified as an official Insurgent Group due to their claiming of Territory. This territory has been challenged, however, as SSKF beat their forces back at the edge of the Peninsula, with the Oberkommando expressing confidence in their efforts against the Varshanka Insurgencies.

United Socialist States Of Namenia Pledges Support for Midphalia, Mobilizes Military

Immediately after being briefed on the situation between Volgaria and Midphalia, Emperor Maximus called for a meeting of the Politburo, and addressed the Reichstag in Hochburg. The address, which lasted for an hour, consisted of the Emperor setting out his regional orders, as well as asking for more voluntary help from the various regional militias and treasuries. He then announced that he had ordered the mobilization of the Imperial Military in response to the ultimatum from Volgaria, and publicly urged the Midphalians to reject the ultimatum, saying:

"It is our ever present sovereign right as nations to determine which government we shall have, and to be forced by a neighboring country to change is abhorrent, especially if it is the people's wishes to be something different. Reject these Imperialist aggressors, and chose for yourself what you shall have. You have the unwavering support of the USSN."

Although praised by many as a beautiful stance on what is being called 'an aggressive form of oppression that should have died out long ago', some criticize the action. As one Reichstag member put it: "We just came out of a civil war, and became one of the few Socialists in a sea of Fascists. To take a stance now would be suicide. We would be assailed on all sides by the 'imperialist aggressors', and will have to succumb to their desires. I do not wish to see my great, new nation die before the year is out."
The beatings will continue. Regardless of morale.

Deadline For Midphalian Crisis Negotiations Passes; No Action Taken By Either

In a major upset for Vvardeni-Volgarian and Vvardeni-Midphalian relations, both of the two feuding nations have decided to ignore the request for Vvardeni mediation, which has led to the closure of embassies in Volgaria and Midphalia. The Grand Speaker phrased today that he was "disappointed that both sides could not at least sit down at a table together", and thus has issued condemnations on both countries for bringing war to Rennekka. Already, embassy teams from the capitals of both countries are heading back to Vvarden, and all plans for what could have been a peaceful solution to the crisis has now ended.

The Grand Speaker has also issued warnings to other nearby countries that in the event of them joining this war, Vvarden will issue further condemnations and possibly even sanctions. The Grand Speaker has stressed the value of peace in Rennekka, and hopes that such a conflict would not spill over to encompass the entire continent, but for now he says, refugees from either countries fleeing war are welcome in Vvarden, provided that they committed no atrocities and do not plan to support either side in Vvarden. Volgarian troop movements towards their border with Midphalia have been recorded, as has certain buildups near Vvarden, which has made the Vvardeni military command nervous, and as such, the army has been placed on an alert. However, it is unlikely that Volgaria would open a second front so early in this war and against a neutral nation, but the military is preparing just in case.

The reaction to the outbreak of war between the two nations have been widespread in the Senate, as Speakers from across Vvarden either back one side or the other, or most commonly, declared themselves neutral in these matters. The leader of the Kommunidaro Vvardeni Paarti, Speaker Nindas Malman-Ammu, has made a speech condemning Volgarian actions, stating that "the people have triumphed in Midphalia, throwing off the shackles of monarchy and imperialism, and this has been met by a warlike and jingoistic response from Volgaria, no doubt planning to expand its borders at the expense of the people yet again". Speaker Romltrius Galrith Tilvi, of the Dri Dren Salthialms Paarti has pledged his support for Vvardeni neutrality, for a different purpose than the Grand Speaker however. He spoke today about the "Almannic tendencies for war", and stated that such wars between Almannic nations are likely to continue in the future. He has denounced Volgaria's government for being a "beastly chiefdom, with a hunger for power and wealth; truly the opposite and the enemy of the Vvardeni people". Tilvi has called upon members of his paramilitary group to patrol the borders between Vvarden and Volgaria, and has asked for the power to question and interrogate any refugees that may cross the border.

As of now, the outcome of this war is uncertain, but the Senate will be taking every measure possible to ensure the safety and stability of the Vvardeni nation.

Volgarian Ultimatum runs out; bridges destroyed
By Lucinda Minsk | @luaminsk | lucinda@mod.org

Volgarian-Midphalian River Border (MOD) -- Exactly an hour ago, bombs planted on the river were detonated by Midphalia to strategically destroy all crossings into Midphalia. This action was in response to the buildup of Volgarian troops on the border since the ultimatum began, almost two days ago.

The Juletag War, as it is being called so far, has consisted of troop movement across the border. No troops have engaged in a skirmish between each other, however, aircraft have flown dangerously close to the border.

Updates from the Frontline: Skirmishes across the border
By Lucinda Minsk | @luaminsk | lucinda@mod.org

Volgarian-Midphalian River Border (MOD) -- At around 9 PM, shots light up across the border and several thousand soldiers engaged in combat across the wide river that made up the border. Reports from the Midphalian Army says that the Volgarians have a small foothold across the river, but cannot send reinforcements to them.

The new foothold in the north could threaten the soldiers in the south, who held on against minor skirmishes from smaller Volgarian troops. Cuirpthian and Kovakian troops assisted in the battles, as well as in the air as Midphalia takes air supremacy over the entire border. The new Midphalian Government has announced that they would seek a cease fire agreement whenever Volgaria is willing to accept the sovereignty of the new Republic of Midphalia.

In other news, the elected Regency Council, now acting as an impromptu directory council has started works on the constitution for Midphalia.

Prime Minister Berger Removed From Office
Earlier this morning, Prime Minister Sean Berger went to trial for vote tampering and sabotaging the election. He was found guilty, and sentenced to thirty years in prison. The CCPP(Cuirpthean Conservative People's Party) are outraged that such an occurrence could have gotten past them, and Berger has already been removed from his position within the party.

Parliament is organizing a new election for a replacement to Berger. His former opponents are running again, as well as a new conservative candidate, Hans Breathnach.

Government Voices Support for Midphalia in Juletag War
Tensions are rising just west of Cuirpthe, and the government has already picked sides. Midphalia, a long time economic partner of Cuirpthe, has voted to replace it's autocracy with a new republic. This has greatly improved relations with Cuirpthe, a nation adamant about it's support for democracy across the world. However, Volgaria appears to believe otherwise. The Volgarian Government has deemed this change in government appalling and illegal. Battle has broke out across the Midphalian-Volgarian border, and Cuirpthe has chosen to support Midphalia. Parliament has moved to double military spending, as well as double the size from 0.5 to 1% of the population. A military draft has begun, and Cuirpthe hopes to send armed forces to the front lines within the week.

Soldiers take over government buildings in Rhyzevskygrad and other large cities

Image

Soldiers belonging to several units of the Vynozhian military have taken over administrative facilities all over the nation with all major cities over 100,000 people in population being targeted by military operations. At 8:45 am operatives affiliated with the Vynozhian Armed Forces entered into various cities across the country and took government facilities. Most civil servents manning said facilities were relieved of their positions. General Pyotr Dzhublykov stated in an early morning press briefing in Tillyn that the military action "was to end the current unrest and avoid further escalation."

Image
Soldiers during firefight with
local police in Krasnykholm
While in most cities like Rhyzevskygrad and Gilimov soldiers saw little to know residence from local police and other garrisoned forces in cities like Krasnykholm and Zheltoyozero soldiers saw signifigent local residence from police and internal troop garrisons. A total of 17 soldiers have been killed and an estimated 40 police and internal troops have died in the initial takeover phase. However by 9:20 AM soldiers had taken over the major government buildings and it was reported that Chairman Tikhonov had been arrested by members of STOG at his Dacha. Dragoslav Afanasyev made a public apprence at the courtyard of the residency of the Party Chairman where he congratulated soldiers who had participated in the take over.

Image

Head of State and presumed head of the military takeover Dragoslav Afanasyev was scheduled to make an apperence in Khitrostkev Square where multiple protestors had been killed the night before. However soldiers who had taken over the Building of the State Council had come under fire from members of the Internal Troops. One soldier we were able to talk to said "it's a war zone." During the nearly 4 hour battle soldiers were still able to hold onto much of the cities governmental instradtructure but lost portions of the industrial and residential areas to the internal troops.

Image
SU-27
At 3:35 pm the air force launched three Sukhoi Su-27'A as a show of force to Internal Troops in Rhyzevskygrad. One bomb was dropped on the Frodkov Building in eastern Rhyzevskygrad which was being used as a central operations base. The 50 pound training bomb had enough energy to blow a hole in the side of the building and kill at least 6 Internal Troops. Around that time 4 squads of STOG special forces surrounded the building and engaged in a quick battle for the building. 4 STOG operators were injured and 24 Internal Troops were killed in the operation and STOG operatives took control of the building by 4:00 pm.

Currently Head of State Afanasyev and Minister of Defense Yulinov are in control of the government according to credible sources within the State Council, it is however unclear as to how the governmental structure will change at the onset of this takeover. We also do not have any credible information on the whereabouts of Chairman Tikhonov and other high ranking officials within the party.

Reichstag votes to assist Volgaria in Juleag War.
BREAKING NEWS

Today the Reichstag voted 382 to 262 to go to side with Volgaria in the opening Juleag War, thus declaring official war on Midphalia and Curpithe. The Konig's official statement just minutes after the vote: "These nations deny the Almannic culture. That denies their right to exist in Rennekka, and we will not tolerate those who do not deserve the honor of being a Rennekkan state. Glory to Hergemoth! Glory to the CSS!". Hergemoth troops have begun mobilizing to former Namenia, crossing through the mountains towards Midphalia. A massive push is expected early 2018, by a large bulk of Reiksgard and Kaiserliche Armee troops. The Air Force has also begun mobilizing to bases in the northern area, and are preparing for initial strikes in the Juleag War.

Fighting between Internal Troops and Military continues in Rhyzevskygrad

Image

Image
Internal Troops defending
against a Military assault
Early this morning after a contentious Christmas night after a Coup lead by elements of the United Workers Revolutionary Socialist Party lead by Dragoslav Afanasyev and Defense Minister Aleksandr Yulinov fighting has been reported throughout major cities in Vynozhia. Rhyzevskygrad was the hardest hit by this combat as the only Tank Division operated by the Interior Ministry assault military position in eastern Rhyzevskygrad and entered the city a few hours later. More then 145,000 people were evacuated from surrounding neighborhoods as military forces set up a perimeter to contain the Interior Ministries armored assault. At around 11:37 am a jet flown by the Vynozjian Air Force dropped a cluster munition on Internal Troop tanks in the Yulikofsky district. No civilian casualties were reported. Later at least 3 more similar bombs were used against Internal Troop tanks in the city. Later at 2:45pm a platoon of soldiers assaulted the neighbourhood taking it from Internal Troops control. Since then fierce skirmishes have lasted all throughout the day.

Image
Mikhail Oltarzhevsky
Minister of the Interior and steadfast ally of ousted Chairman Frol Tikhonov, Mikhail Oltarzhevsky gave a radio speech on the official government network detailing his reasons for ordering Internal Troops to conduct combat operations. "This is an illegal coup d'état perpetrated by Bourgeoisie sympathizers who are bent on destroying this nations just like they have in every system they infest. We as socialists can not allow these people to violently thrust power away from the system which the people put in place. It is a violation of mans law regardless of who dictates it, in every case the forced takeover of a government by milicious actors is condemned, and I call upon the international community to continue recognizing the Tikhonov government as the rightful governing administration of Vynozhia." He said as part of a 12 minute long speech where he derided many of those involved in the coup.

At 5:19pm it was reported that fighting broke out near Krasnoperekopsk Prison where Frol Tikhonov was being held by the military. In a firefight lasting only 35 minutes two platoons from the Ministry of the Interior captured the prison from military forces and captured Tikhonov, his current whereabouts are unknown but it is speculated that him and Oltarzhevsky are together and control loyal state instatutions in a safe area.

Currently the Military under defense minister Yulinov has 135,000 active duty soldiers conspired to the 25,000 active duty internal troops. The military also has the advantage of a defecting Air Force and Navy who are currently supportive of the coup as is the army in general. Currently it is not known if the Ministry of the Interior hold any significant communities but it does hold territory which it actively contests with the military especially in larger communities.

Many people, including Vynozhian exiles fear the possibility of civil war in the country after these recent developments. However it is not clear how long the current fighting will continue for and if the Interior Ministry can continue this campaign against Afanasyev and Yulinov.

ENEMIES TO THE WEST, TRAITORS WITHIN!

Image
Arresting the traitorous Lobo family

Only a nation as disgusting and warmongering as Midrasia would continue to lay baseless accusations of our dealings with traitors. The cowardly fleeing of Isabella Lobo (38) and her children, Mia (15) and Martin (7), they had left the our brave socialist soldiers no choice but to execute the traitors, even as Isabella used her child as a human shield, in a selfish attempt to prolong her own pitiful life. In a final act of selfishness, she made sure that her sons body landed on Midrasian soil, leading to accusations of our border guards firing into Midrasian territory. Later, it was discovered that other members of the Lobo family had help facilitate this betrayal, as such the criminals and traitors have been arrested by our authorities. Such event is eerily similar to the San Salvador Betrayal and, as such, the families will be punished accordingly.

While we socialists and workers would love nothing more than the capitalist hellhole be destroyed, but on these occasion we must claim such accusations as false and a wholly deliberate attempt by the Midrasian capitalist pigs to form some sort of justification for war, a needless event in Asura in today's day and age. Not only this, but the Midrasian criminal authorities have made it obvious that this is clearly a thinly veiled attempt at turning those sympathetic to our glorious nation against us, using their underhanded dishonest techniques to do so.

Most notable is the increase of military presence on the Midrasian side of the border, clearly hoping that the rising tensions will result in some sort of exchange of gunfire, helping further the warmongering agenda of Midrasia. However, while peace is preferred, we cannot allow our borders to be underdefended, as such the official Raising of the Reserves has been called by the Generalissimo to bolster the defenses of the border, as well as arming the citizens of the island of Asur to defend against any criminal invasion.

Furthermore, these claims that there is any Sclavic minority within Veleaz is violently untrue, further highlighting the lies of the Midrasian state and their trustworthiness.

King denounces Veleaz over border shooting
Ilan ben Moshe Chafon

King Isaac has denounced the government of Veleaz following the shooting of a woman and her two children by Veleazan soldiers as they attempted to cross the infamous Appian Wall, breaking a period of general cooperation and support for the socialist state from Hipasia since its independence in 1900.

His Majesty described the shooting as "unjustifiable" when he spoke to the Knesset this week.

"In the past we have owed our support to Veleaz as thanks for our own statehood. But for too long we Hipasians have remained silent as human rights in Veleaz have worsened, and not only has it left Veleaz lacking a critical eye which is not outright hostile, but it has harmed us too, by the alienation we have faced for our relationship to Veleaz... Then I shall be the first to state it clearly: the actions taken by the government and military of Veleaz is morally unjustifiable and abhorrent, and it is time Hipasia took a stand against their abuses."

In the same speech, the King also criticised the Midrasians who created the wall, saying that the Appian Wall "owes its existence to paranoia and that very existence harms those citizens of Veleaz whose only desire is a better life".

But he added that he would like to work with Midrasia to effect change within its red neighbour.

"I would hope that I, Prime Minister Lavan or one of our other capable MKs, might meet with Mr. Portas of Midrasia so that we can work together to improve rights and liberties within Veleaz."

Responding to a question from MK Shimon Bendiyo, the King emphasised that while he desires a legal change in Veleaz, he would not support a regime change, especially one achieved through military means. To a further question from MK Amuna Nishra His Majesty stated that the increase in naval activity by Midrasia in the Asur Sea "is more likely to hinder than help the situation".

KOA Joins World Educational and Cultural Organization
Queen Nakoa met with WECO Chairman Joel Bendtsen today at the Royal Palace today to discuss the potential for the creation of a WECO cluster office for Savai, rather than a national office, after the National Congress approved the Kingdom's entry into the organization. WECO's aim is "to contribute to the building of peace, the eradication of poverty, sustainable development and intercultural dialogue through education, the sciences, culture, communication and information". While most Asuran nations participate in the organization, the Kingdom will be the first from Savai and the continent of Yidao. Chairman Bendtsen and the Queen will also visit the Kawanakan Heritage Museum and the Akua Ka Hale Marine Sciences Institute, two locations that have the potential to become a World Heritage Site which could be approved as early as mid-January.

Anti-Piracy Fleet Formed By Savaian Alliance
Representatives of The Savaian Alliance approved the creation of a naval task force that is responsible for safely escorting commercial vessels in the Jade Triangle as well as around Savai and its islands. The three nations will be responsible for funding at least six ships, fully supported, to be part of the Fleet. Our neighbors to the north, New Timeria, will add Frigates Namazu and Samebito to the cause. Minister Hoku K'apa has transferred the HRM Haupu and Oloku from the Royal Naval Bases Hoku and Tagoni, respectively, to be part of the Task Force. Both ships are Alohi Class Frigates, and will be outfitted with new H/PJ-14 Close In Weapon Systems (CIWS), which consists of an eleven-barreled gun that has an increased rate of fire to 10,000 rounds per minute and two ammunition drums. The addition of H/PJ14 to the two ships allows the Piracy-Unit to intercept incoming anti-ship missiles up to a speed of Mach 4 with a 96% success rate. It is expected that all of Ajerrin's frigates will be outfitted with the new technology.

Federal Marine Reserve Granted to Southern Okina Islands

Image
Tongoni state representatives cheered today as the waters surrounding the southern Okina islands were declared a National Marine Monument, safe from commercial fishing out to the 200-mile limit of its exclusive economic zone. The southern islands are a sanctuary for endangered species, including blue whales, short-tailed albatrosses, sea turtles and monk seals. It contains some of the healthiest coral reefs and is inhabited by more than 7,000 species, including some of the oldest animals on Aeia, black corals that have lived more than 4,000 years. In all, a quarter of the creatures living in the monument are found no where else - with many more not yet identified.

The fishing industry vigorously fought the expansion of the Okina Marine Reserve expansion in TV ads and online videos, in town hall meetings and the capitals in New Hope and Tongoni. Ultimately, support from Okina and Tongoni lawmakers helped cinch the Queen's decision. Kahuna 'elele Miko Shumuzu (Okina City, National Labor) brokered a compromise that allowed recreational fishing from all southern islands and the ability for all citizens to continue working their traditional fishing grounds inside the EEZ. All commercial extraction activities, including fishing and future deep-sea mining, will be prohibited in the expanded monument area.

We start of this week in Varshanka with news of the offensives in both the West, by the Rosenwache, and East, by the S.S.K.F. It's easy to think of the territory as still apart of the war, however that mentality may start to wear off as the O.S.V.K.P, alongside several local Syndicates, have completed collectivization efforts in the Gastreude and Jannik regions and urban metropolitan areas of the commune.

The Collectivization effort itself was implemented in the start of the war, being was a regimented means of efficiently transitioning new territories into their new Socialist structure. Different businesses would work alongside Party and Syndicate guidance to reformat themselves into different Cooperatives, and to implement major Ovan-Democratic systems. This has all proven widely successful in Varshanka, specifically in their capital of Jannik, where Collectivization efforts went relatively unchallenged apart from several incidents revolving around a not-to-pleased former-baroness.

Schweisein schließt Regionalwahlen, gewinnt kommunistische Mehrheit
Schweisein concludes regional elections, gains Communist majority

In other news, Schweisein concluded a major regional election after an impressive Four Gemeinderat Seats opened up over the course of this last month. This follows just after a major rise in Communist support flooded over the southern Communes, in part leading to a Misstrauensvotum of several prominent Syndicalist Ratsmitglied being removed from office. Southern support of Syndicalism has plummeted as of late primarily due to the Könixren Syndicates use of “Pincer” tactics to halt and stop the development and implementation of Abortion and LGBTQ legislation.

Kardinalarmee macht Fortschritte, räumt die Kötzin Region auf
Cardinal Army makes headway, clears Kötzin Region

The Kardinalarmee’s released a recent report regarding the southern regions of Varshanka currently occupied by the Vorhut Insurgent Group. The current offensive against the group by the Rosenwache has proven widely successful after the recent Liberation of the Kötzin Region, the southeastern most portion of the insurgent territory within the Commune. This comes just days after a series of Vorhut attacks on civilian outposts in the area, prompting the Kardinal Luftwaffe to take action on behalf of the Rosenwache Miliz. Meanwhile, Humanitarian aid has already been shipped to the Liberated Kötzin with the hopes of setting up rudimentary power lines to provide emergency electricity to the region while the Vorhut is pushed out.

Meinungsstück

Tonight we here at the SDV also had the pleasure to interview Ashlyn Örtvurr, a resident of the city of Shrörden in Alorenstadt. In particular, while the rest of the interview will be published on a later date, we'd like to end today with her experiences on this date not three years ago, and some views on our current standing.

Reporter: I’m here today in a small apartment in Vannerr with Ashlyn Örtvurr, age 43, now we decided to conduct this interview to give some insight into the daily lives of Ovanitsches during the initial stages of the Revolution; So you were in Shrörden after Särgahn rejected Vizekönig van Alten’s claim to leadership?

Ja, I was, it was roughly 8:00 in the morning when it started.

How did you hear about what was going on?

Well, the cities news service hadn’t alerted us to the declaration at the time, but we could all tell something was going on; I actually only new it was starting at 8 because I woke up to the sound of Military Vehicles evacuating the city, I believe to put down the Rioters in Särgahn.

Obviously we didn’t know that at the time, but we could all tell something was wrong. Every few hours a military Convoy would fly overhead or another dispatch of Guards would drive out of the city in their Schildkröt-lastwagen und ihre Panzer, until 4 O’clock in the afternoon when the city declared Marshal Law and the Königliche Polizei stormed the Union Konferenzhalle. In my opinion thats what set us off, I took my children into the apartment after bullets began to fly between rudimentäre Milizsoldaten and the Polizie.

So, the fighting started because they stormed the Union Hall?

Well yes, it was very similar to how the fighting started in Särgahn, the Vizekönig declared the Unions illegal, but the Humanitarian Fund had collapsed and the State couldn’t get aid from Rohst. The Unions were our only way of getting food so when they tried to shut them down here there were riots. And well, two days later the Särgahn Noir Liberated our city and let me tell you, out of everything that changed, the biggest one had to be the singing. Everywhere you went groups of men and women were singing songs day and night, like organized versions of Straßenmusiker you find in Asura.

What was life like after the Liberation?

Different, immediately the big advertisement and propaganda bulletins on the major streets were seized by Union Workers and news of the International World and the War flooded into the city. We heard the Nadelküstian Archduchess command us too reinstate the Vizekönig, and someone threw a Rock at the screen on main street broadcasting her. Actually the biggest shock was seeing how different Western Asura was from what they [the Vizekönigreich] told us.

Many people of the International world compare the Ovanitsches Gemeinstaat to the brutal regimes of Eastern Asura, what're you're thoughts on this?

I find it disheartening, I know they would think that due to the Southerners, and while I myself don't enjoy the idea of Communism and identify more with the Syndikalisten, the Southern Communists call for just as much decentralization as the Syndizierter Norden. I believe that in time they may see us as better than the Autoritäre.

Liana Vescovi's term as Chief Director ends, Alfredo Gabbasica succeeds

Liana Vescovi, the Reform Party politician who is currently the Director for Finance, has finished her 2017 term as the Chief Director of the National Council. A ceremonial position, she has been tasked with chairing the meetings of the National Council over the year.
The council itself has a completely different composition to when she took up the job, with the creation of the Directorate of Culture, Sports and Equality, and the retiring of Maximus Reidus and Silvanus Le Grande, to be replaced with Arður Troelsen and Jenný Anadottir, who have sought advances including observership of the CDN, abolition of tuition fees and the creation of the Lhedwinic Council.

As of tomorrow, Alfredo Gabbasica, a Socialist Party member who serves as the Director for Home Affairs, will become the Chief Director of the National Council. Born in Neititsnot in the Nausikaan region of Crylante to Asuro-Lhedwinic parents, he is of the more moderate social democratic wing of his party and has named Natalia La Blanc, Director for Energy, Environment, Transport and Communications the Vice Director of the National Council, maintaining the rule that the Chief Director and the Vice Director have to be of different parties and from different regions of Crylante: Gabbasica was born in Nausikaa while La Blanc was born in Lilledel.

Vaniric fishermen concerned with Southern Okina Islands Federal Marine Reserve expansion

Fishermen in the Crylantian overseas country of the Vanir Islands have expressed their concerns over the creation of the Southern Okina Islands Federal Marine Reserve, stating that it restricts the fishing industry of the territory, and thus it stifles the economy of the region. While many have expressed agreement at the need to protect the environment of the region, many have disagreed with the fact that only citizens of Ajerrin can fish in the zone.

Isolaprugna becomes an observer of the CDN

Citing its cultural links to the nations of the CDN, and the economic benefits of increased trade with the organisation, the Republic of Isolaprugna has become an observer of the CDN, following the Crylantian Federation and Karuolinda in its decision. This means that trade barriers between the nation and the CDN have been taken down and the nation sends representatives with speaking rights to the organisation's legislature, but is not a member and is not involved in the defence pacts.

The President of Isolaprugna, Emanuela Amatore, has declared that this change "does not mean Isolaprugna is now a capitalist country", and that the nation recognised "the benefits of both socialism and capitalism" and would "seek to interact on amicable terms with nations of both alignments", stating that the pact allowed for economic prosperity.

OPINION: Mustapha Ihejirika is the President Onza deserves
By Sameer Tafadzwa, Columnist

Tomorrow is a landmark day in Onzaian history. Mustapha Ihejirika, the former Dem Soc Senator, will officially assume the Office of the Presidency. It's not historic because of the circumstances that surrounded Ihejirika's ascension to the office. While that was tragic, it is no longer the events of 18 August that define the mood surrounding Onzaian politics. It's not the departure of a remarkably accomplished President -- Xolani Kojo will be missed by many, but he has gracefully left room for new minds to expand the movements he started. It's not even the strong record Ihejirika has as an accomplished Congressman in just a few short terms. What makes tomorrow's official transition so significant is the spirit surrounding it.

Ihejirika kicked off his Presidency with a bang with a stinging condemnation of Veleaz following the murder of two refugees attempting to flee to Midrasia. The critics warned that this would be the first step in a slow decline in Ihejirika's popularity. Then, when Ihejirika spent several days meeting with leaders of various interest groups to hear their concerns, critics said that he would lose the appearance of impartiality, and that competing groups would begin to detract from his approval rating. These critics hit particularly hard when Ihejirika suggested that the government's handling of the isolated peoples in the nation's deserts may be subject to review under his administration. Most recently, when Ihejirika ordered a restructuring of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to improve relations with the UDE's closest allies, critics said that the "sizable" group opposed to globalization would cry murder.

But what has happened each of those times? The opposite, in fact. Ihejirika is slated to assume office with a 93% approval rating -- the highest ever and likely the highest to ever be seen. What his critics fail to realize is that this approval rating is not conflated by the 18 August attacks. It's not merely a bubble waiting to burst. Ihejirika has a skill that the others being considered to replace Akbar Saab did not have -- the ability to inspire interest in the workings of the nation. Chirper is abuzz in Onza with more interest in government and its affairs than ever before. Ihejirika is bringing with him an energy that hasn't been seen since the days of Noora el-Moussa or even Adewale Mudima himself.

Don't get me wrong -- high spirits are phenomenal, but I also recognize that they would be nothing without some action to them. Ihejirika may appear mild mannered and calm, but he is an accomplished statesman, one that will no doubt bring the grace of the office he is assuming to new levels, just as Xolani Kojo did. Ihejirika has shown his proficiency in compromise during his tenure in Congress, where he was practically famous for his ability to reconcile party differences on key issues and pass important legislation. This will pay off in his effort to accomplish his legislative agenda, because even though he is a principled social democrat without a doubt, he respects the Liberal outlook enough to ensure that it is adequately represented.

Ihejirika won't be perfect, and he won't please everybody, but I have a good feeling that this energy surrounding him -- at least the core of it -- is not fleeting, as some have charged. The Dem Socs made a highly strategic move by going with Ihejirika, who has revealed himself to be a better candidate than many would have ever hoped for. Akbar Saab started launched the movement during his campaign to involve the individual more in government rather than the group, and it resonated significantly with voters. The continuance of this movement by Ihejirika is a wise move that will pay off for him, but more importantly, it will have positive ramifications for the Onzaian people for some decades to come.

WITENAGEMOT IMPLICATED IN COVER-UP & CRIMES!
By Andrew Riordan,Staff Writer

An explosive revelation shook Newrey to its core last night as papers release from MP David Wingham of Jackeen East office, who also serves as Minister of the Interior, were publicly leaked during the weeks following the Jackeen Lynchings in connection to the Gerald Lee case, for which five gay men were killed for last month. Papers seized from Mr. Wingham's office, as well as testimony from Mr. Wingham himself, suggest evidence of a nationwide cover-up made by the Witenagemot in nearly hundreds of similar child sexual abuse incidents, all of which led to the convictions of gay men in the area.

The implications of the cover-up can have disastrous effects on Newrey both nationally and internationally, most notably in the case of its infamous Gay Laws. The Laws, which have garnered much criticism from numerous human rights groups and governments around the globe, where implemented following the rise of gay men being convicted for child sexual abuse crimes and the demand by the public to remove the threat posed by the men to their children.

Detailed examinations of the papers by journalists of the Globe and outsourced researchers has been damning for the Witenagemot's standing and trust from the people, with the National Police releasing papers that implicate the government with further crimes, such as the arrangement of killings of police inspectors, such as PI Cameron Paul, that began to investigate the correlation of MP movements to the crimes, but also with a number of other crimes, such as the selling of Sarin gas, an banned weapon in Newrey, to the government of Aramas which has used the gas against its own citizens.

Further is the bankrolling of the terrorist group both terrorist groups, most notably the historic Aversi sy Newreaxx which was involved in the infamous Burning of Lentini in the early 20th century in response to Aversi rejoining the Lhedwinic nation of Crylante, as well as the group behind the more recent Cyningburgh Attacks in 2016, which was used to act as a subversive puppet force in Saraibia to gain access to its oil reserves, however the subsequent attacks in Cyningburgh were unexpected.

Most damning of all is that of the actions of Prime Minister Raymond Holt, who is detailed to be behind serious voter manipulation in the last two Newreyan elections, done to ensure the victory of the Alydian Conservative Party in Newrey, as well as backdoor cooperation with the Opposition to ensure he would receive enough votes to pass all legislation he put forth in exchange for both financial rewards and protection from the Witenagemot should cases be brought against them.

Members of both the military and Royal Family are not currently implemented in the massive scandal, and massive crowds have gathered outside of the Winter Palace in Barford demanding the King dissolve the Witenagemot and arrest the members implicated in the Papers, however no comment has come forth from the Palace as of yet, nor from the Witenagemot despite the crowds.
