Opinions on interracial marriage here in Zhouran is divided between the sexes. With most Zhouranese men, many hold neutral-to-positive views on interracial marriage while a huge majority of Zhouranese women hold neutral-to-negative opinions due to the notion that foreign women are "stealing" their men.
Within Zhouran's unique political landscape, interracial marriage is in fact a hot topic for conversations and debates. Indeed, interracial marriage between Zhouranese and non-Zhouranese people has existed for a long time in the form of Zhouranese men who worked as merchants and settlers who traveled afar and married foreign women while settling in their new homeland. There are various anti-miscegenation groups in Zhouran with each being overwhelmingly dominated by Zhouranese women.
For the Zhouranese women who hold negative opinions towards interracial marriage, there main fear is that mixed-race children would became the future majority while others fear that interracial marriage between Zhouranese men and foreign women would become more common if no action is taken. Meanwhile, for the Zhouranese women who are more accepting towards IR marriage, they strongly believe that people can marry whoever they want and that mixed-race children cannot become the future majority due to Zhouran's homogeneous demographic. In fact, the birth rate for Zhouranese people is 25.5% while total fertility rate is 3.18 births per Zhouranese women. Meanwhile, foreign women in Zhouran, whether they are married to a Zhouranese man or not, only have a total fertility rate of 1 birth per women. While most anti-miscegenation groups simply ask for people to avoid marrying foreigners, some do actually go further by calling for an outright ban on miscegenation, however the chance of such policy being enacted nationwide remains little to none.
Most of the foreign women that Zhouranese men would marry are either Hispanic, Southern European, or African, with marriages between Zhouranese men and Asian women being quite rare.
