Vampires.

On Earth, we write novels about them. Dracula, Nosferatu, and even the horrible excuses for vampires we see in the Twilight saga. Some violent, others not, all extremely dangerous under the right circumstances.

What if vampires truly existed?

Earth, 1575. Not as our world knew it, however. The vampire, or what led to it, had come into being more than 3 400 years ago. Was it natural? Placed there by some supernatural force? One way or another, the first step toward the vampires of 1575 had been created. Over the next centuries, they evolved, eventually gaining supernatural characteristics. After slightly more than 2000 years, this evolution brought forth a vampire who named herself Kalara Venzalor. Nobody knows what made her so different from those that came before - she so thoroughly eliminated the old vampires that the only knowledge about them was that they existed. She quickly united the 'new vampires' into a single massive coven before she had even reached the age of 130, and had established dominance over humanity before she had reached the tender age of 250.

Now, at the start of November 3491 by the vampires' reckoning, the Myrávian Empire (named for the capital she founded in the northwest of what we call England) is in turmoil. The world is well into its Renaissance and the early stages of an industrial revolution, and humanity has gained in number to outnumber the vampires by nearly 30 to 1. The Venzalor coven remains by far the most powerful of the covens, and Kalara the most powerful of the vampires, but the increasing fragmentation of the world is beginning to bring forth cracks in the coven's structure, and it would only take a vampire wily enough to exploit them - or a human brave or foolish enough to bring the whole of vampire society to its knees.

In this volatile environment, the stage is set, the orchestra engage - now it is time to see if you can dance. At the head of one of the vampire covens within or without the Venzalorian umbrella, you must attempt to navigate your coven through the Great Upheaval - align with Kalara and attempt to preserve the vampiric order which has prevailed for centuries, or move against her in an attempt to bring greater power to yourself and your house. Or, perhaps, you are in control of one of the human noble houses of the day. Working with the vampires would earn you the ire of other noble houses, but Kalara tends to reward those who aid her with money, connections, and above all, power that could be exploited against those other houses. Or, align with the major noble houses, attempt to overthrow the vampires, and set humanity on the pedestal it has been so wrongfully denied by the vampiric race.

The choice, dear reader, must be yours.

Rules

0) All forum rules apply.
1) No godmodding. Vampires are supernatural creatures, fine. There's magic here, fine. But there are limits.
2) The Opening Poster (myself) bears the final word on any disputes.
2a) The Opening Poster has the ability to declare posts or portions of posts non-canon, and all non-canon events may be ignored.
3) Please try and keep some detail moving. In fast-paced scenes, some shorter posts may be acceptable, but please at least try to flesh out a few well-developed sentences.
4) All applications will be approved or rejected by the Opening Poster.
5) Co-Opening Posters (co-OPs) have all the powers of the Opening Poster except when overruled.
Current Co-OPs: none
6) No coven or house application can be without a character application. Ideally, apply the head of your coven or house as one of your characters.
7) To avoid the trouble of hilariously long travel times to an extent, let's stay in Europe, thanks.
8) The creator of a coven or house shall roleplay all other entities in the same as non-player characters, unless they approve a player character within their coven or house.
9) Each poster is limited to applying three (3) characters and one (1) coven or noble house.
10) Please make an effort to maintain the continuity of the story.
11) If I (the Opening Poster) know you, leave a note of it instead of leaving an RP sample.
12) Have fun.

A few additional pointers
1) Terrible though the rest of it may be, the Twilight saga is actually a good reference for the non-magical ability levels of vampires.
1a) Vampires in this reality can still be killed by being staked through the heart or shot in the heart with a silver bullet.
1b) In terms of magical ability, the simple rule is "don't be ridiculous". The Opening Poster reserves the right to utilize this pointer in judging things non-canon according to Rule 2a.
2) We do have werewolves, too! They are all non-player characters and can be used or mentioned by anyone in their posts.
3) Though the year is "1575" by humanity's reckoning, the technology level is probably closer to that of the mid-1700s. Influence of vampires being able to think about these things for longer periods, plus magic.
4) Nothing here as yet. I'll add something if/when I think of it!
5) Refer to Rule 11.

Defining the "points" for covens and houses
In the fragile days of the potential breakup of the Venzalor coven, what you have access to will mean everything. Do you have the resources to allow your coven or house to generate the wealth it needs to buy its way out of the conflict, perhaps saving its own head? Are you well-enough connected with the criminal underworld or the upper crust of Europe that they'll fight your battles for you? Or does your name carry enough weight with the right people to make sure that you can stay above the fray or, if you're already in the thick of it, to make sure you get the solution you seek? The number of points you receive is dependent on the class of your coven.

The House Venzalor, a Unique Coven, receives 55 points.
If I were to approve someone to portray the Catholic Church, that Unique House would receive 50 points.
Great Houses and Covens receive 45 points a piece (there are 0 Great Coven and 0 Great House spaces available).
Major Houses and Covens receive 36 points a piece (there are 0 Major Coven and 2 Major House spaces available).
Minor Houses and Covens receive 27 points a piece (there can be an unlimited number of these.)

PointsResourcesConnectionsInfluence
1A tiny splash in a giant pond does no good.Seriously, go out and make some friends, you socially inept troll!Even mentioning your name gets somebody killed.
2Your house or coven might be a far side branch of a large house, and can't do very much. Does subservience suit you?A couple minor connections, but most of those don't last.Your name is still mud, but it only draws torches and pitchforks instead of deadly magic.
3Your house closes in on freedom, but still must remain fully rooted to a larger tree. You do have a few lasting connections, but they're mostly with unimportant workers.Hmm... just pitchforks now. What in the world are they doing to that man's kidney? *blink*
4Now you're free, but still pretty rooted to that larger tree. You can do a bit on your own, but not much.A few people of minimal importance are your contacts. Now it's just an angry mob with a few stones here and there.
5You can just barely afford the day-to-day operations of the house or coven with your resources.Made some friends with the local tax collectors, now, have you?Angry mob, but no weapons - just words.
6-7This house or coven is in dire straits - it can afford its operations, but it is heavily in debt to others. Now you're talking. You have an association with the sergeant of the local guard. Not so much a mob, but still angry people.
8-9You have major debt problems, but you're not as poor off as some are.I do believe you should be at least introduced to the Commandant of the Guard...It definitely seems like your name has gained some weight... you can free a couple of people from minor tax evasion charges.
10-11Perhaps your house has some minor debt problems, but you definitely have some resources to throw your weight around. You're definitely connected with the local guardsmen, and some of the lower government officers are acquaintances.A decent dinner party here and there? Sometimes.
12-13You're practically out of debt, and you have quite a bit of resource weight. You're working your way in with the lower echelons of governance, and building your base as well. Now you can get off with some larceny here... some embezzlement there... would someone tell them to leave that man's kidney alone!?
14-15You're freed from debt, and your house or coven is in great spirits for the future.A couple upper-level governors call you an advisor. You finally got them to leave that poor man alone, not to mention that you definitely hold some weight with the Myrávian minor domains.
16A sizable amount of Myrávian litavi will be given to your daughter's suitor.A trusted advisor, now, are we?The girls swoon, and the men no longer punch you in the face.
17It seems that your house's embezzlement skills are great. Your house is more than likely a banking or resource marketing clan of major proportions.Definitely getting up there. Most of the local government knows you, as do a few cities abroad.Well then, it would appear that you have some clout with the guards, which explains why my house has been 'confiscated'.
18Your banks or markets are some of the finest of all, and you hold the majority of the debts within a district of the Myrávian Empire. In your current position, you are friends with more than just 'a few' VIP's across the region. How in the name of Kalara Venzalor did you get that for free!?
19Obviously, you are the wealthy patron of many different artists and sculptors.Someone's near the top of the social ladder. You can get anyone into any damn club. Anytime.
20You could buy out a whole coven if you wanted to.Do you seriously have Kalara calling for your advice? It would appear that you are the most influential person in the region. Well done..... what the hell are you doing with that wand!? *BOOOM!*

COVENS and VAMPIRES

Aontaímid sa Dorchadas | We Unite in Darkness
The Coven Venzalor came to define not only the concept of a coven, but the vampiric race in general. Founded by the first true vampire, Kalara Venzalor's coven has reigned supreme since the year 2156 of the vampires' calendar, 240 AD by the human Christian calendar. After establishing her dominance over the vampires of her day, and despite the fact that there were maybe a few dozen of them she quickly destroyed the proto-vampires which had created her, and then unified the other vampires she had created into the first coven.

This coven rapidly grew, and by 2270, the vampires were more than 3 000 strong - more than enough to overthrow the power structures of their time. The Roman Empire was the last to fall in 2272, after which point the Venzalorians returned to the northwest coast of England - what our world calls the region of the Low Furness - and founded the vast city of Myrávia on the peninsula. Most of the Coven Venzalor proper resides within the city, though the Coven Venzalor also cannot be said to end with its members alone - Kalara's influence can be said to extend over the entire vampire world, given her stature.

With the growth of other vampire covens, instability between the vampires and werewolves, and the rapid rise of humans, the Venzalor coven faces more trying times now than at any time in the past. The city of Myrávia provides a haven for many a vampire in these trying times, if only they are willing to swear absolute allegiance to the Mother Vampiress...

KALARA VENZALOR
BIRTH: c. 2030 | AGE: ~1 460
GENERATION: I | COVEN: Venzalor
Mother Vampiress
Grand Empress of the Myrávian Empire

Image
Nobody quite knows how to describe Kalara Venzalor. They know she is a vampire. However, those who find themselves in her presence tend to describe her more often than not as a force of nature or even as a goddess upon Earth. She is, for certain, a vampire to be reckoned with. The Mother Vampiress sits at the peak of a vast vampiric hierarchy weaving its way through coven after coven, and only she quite knows how all the pieces fit together. Perhaps it's an innate knowledge of the covens and of how they interact with each other and with the humans. Perhaps it's a power to see ahead. Nobody is quite sure. Either way, Kalara is immensely powerful.

It is often said that Kalara was not turned - she was born. The modern vampire would think such thing an impossibility - vampires cannot give birth. However, given the extreme lack of knowledge about the vampires to predate Kalara, such a possibility becomes far less remote. By 2120, she was already beginning to gather followers, though she chose who she turned very carefully in the first century of her life, giving her no more than 45 vampires by the time she overthrew the proto-covens in 2156. How a 91-year-old vampire was able to overthrow a race which had existed for more than 2 millennia remains to this day unknown, but the defeat is attributed to Kalara's already-growing magical prowess, and a belief that she was, in fact, the first vampire to wield magical ability.

After overthrowing the proto-vampires, the humans became Kalara's next target. She began rapidly advancing her cause through the territories of the Roman Empire, which she finally overthrew in 2272 to establish the Myrávian Empire. The Myrávian power structure has endured since that time, through various conflicts with potential rivals. Now, however, with the growing rise of humanity and some of the covens under the Venzalorian umbrella preparing to break away, Kalara faces more dangers - and more potential rewards for herself and her empire - than ever before.

VIESSA VENZALOR
BIRTH: 2060 | CREATION: 2077 | AGE: 1 431
GENERATION: II | COVEN: Venzalor
Archpriestess of Myrávia
First Child
Beloved Daughter of Kalara

Image
During the reign of terror of the "Old Breed", Viessa was born to a peasant family in the service of a minor noble house and have been orphaned after a war ravaged their Lord's fief, killing her parents. A few years after surviving the brutal countryside, she was found by a group of Kalara's human soliders and after fighting them tooth and nail she was finally subdued and presented to the Empress as "tribute". For reasons unknown to anyone but her and the Empress Mother, she was spared and Kalara graced her with the gift of the Vampire, becoming one of "First Children". In eternal gratitude to her new mother, she aided in the creation of the Myrávian Empire, and proved herself to be a powerful and effective general and warrior in the name of her Empress. She quickly became Kalara's most trusted child.

There are few indeed who can marshal the resources that House Felfaen can command at the whim of the Patriarch. Smithies, bankinghouses, ships, caravans, quarries, mines, marketplaces; in continental Europe, throughout all of the land we would call Germany, the sinews of commerce twitch at the commands of Lord Zhukov, and the molten iron and silver and gold of her veins flows at the bequest of the Fell.
Connections points: 20/20
Those who know who to know know of House Felfaen and her denizens, and respect them both for their tempered stolidity and unusually calm disposition for those of a vampiric bloodline. To offend those of the Midnight Aristocracy is foolhardy, for their friends are many, and their memories long. Merely because of the amount of resources wielded by the Felfaens and their associates, covens from as far away as the heart of the Empire come to call at the Obsidian Tower.
Influence points: 8/20
House Felfaen is not known to any particular degree by most denizens of the Myrávian Empire, and that suits her members just fine; importance is only necessary where it does good, not simply for notoriety's sake. They prefer to work in the shadows, as their race is so wont to prefer, and the webs they weave and spells that shroud the air around their fingers are all the more effective for being unseen.
Members 70 000 Blooded, half a million humans, plus lesser Houses.
Coven or House Seat: The Obsidian Throne, a fortress of great strength delved into the stone high in the Erzgebirge of Austria-Germany.
Coat of Arms: A great warhammer of black on a field of midnight purple.

DRAGOSLAV GALCA
BIRTH: Unknown | CREATION: 2103 | AGE: 1 388+
GENERATION: II | COVEN: Galca
First Child
Patriarch of the Coven Galca

Image
Dragoslav was "Born" if you could call it that, 1,388 years prior. His life prior to becoming a Vampire is long since gone, he has no memory of it nor does he wish he could remember. The only fact that is known to him is that he may have once been a human from what was then Gaul. He was one of the original 45 Vampires under Kalara Venzalor when she overthrew the Proto-Vampires and was at that time, extremely weak in comparison. He was fortunate enough to score lucky victories during that time, leaving him alive and well when the smoke cleared and the "True" Vampires emerged.

He sought loyalty to his new leader, to the Venzalor Coven as it grew in strength. He worked hard to establish his own Coven as the Vampiric Race grew in size and strength, while simultaneously growing more and more interested in the overthrown Proto-Vampires. In his free time he took long detours to their crypts, their hideaways and their feasting grounds and would study them more profusely than any other Vampire, eventually writing a short manuscript about them so that they weren't forgotten from the sands of time. As his Coven grew in power and he grew stronger with age and experience, he grew closer to the inner circles of the ruling Coven, and soon desire and lust for power began to overtake him. Almost as though through fate, his war-path and bloodlust was driven against the Romans instead. He became known as the "Vampires Fist" as he tore through the Roman territories in Gaul and Hispania with his Coven, tearing resistance to shreds and enslaving the Humans mercilessly.

When the Smoke cleared for the second time and Humanity was subjugated he found himself in control of a major Coven which directly controlled huge portions of Gaul under the Venzalor Coven. He defended his position ruthlessly, against Human insurrectionist and conspirators Vampires from various other Covens. As his nickname persisted, he showed little mercy to any group, apart from the Venzalors. By the current time he's considered one of the "Old Breed" having been one of Kalara's 45 original followers. The Galca's no longer have the same wealth or influence they did in the days of old but have persistently trudged forwards against an ever increasing demand for their destruction. Dragoslav has no intention of dying as he plans to restore the glories of the Galca Coven and ascend them to their rightful place as Rulers of the Vampiric Order.

VALERIAN GALCA
BIRTH: c. 3225 | CREATION: c. 3240 | AGE: c. 266
GENERATION: VIII | COVEN: Galca
Heir to the Patriarch of the Coven Galca
Head Werewolf Hunter of the Coven Galca

Image
Valerian was born as a human in the suburbs of what used to be Rome to a pair of subservient humans. That birth was a troubled one and his mother would pass as a result, sending his father into a spiraling depression. Though normally against the law, at the age of 13 he set off on his own across the vampire-dominated world, intent on reaching Coven Galca. By this point in his life he was already one of the few human 'loyalists' who actually supported the reign of the Vampires. His personal belief being that Humanity could never survive without their protection, and that it was essential that the relationship be maintained. As a human he would always be subservient however, and it became his determination that he should allow himself to be turned before he grew to an age where he was used for his blood.

He reached Galca territory at the age of fifteen and immediately enlisted in one of the only institutions in the world that created new vampires. As it were, the Coven Galca were the original innovators of the system. The systematic creation of vampires from aspiring humans through the means of generations. These Vampiric Schools, as it were, taught humans the means by which a vampire can thrive, before pitting those humans against one another to determine which were strongest. Those lucky few would be turned into a coven-less vampire. The strongest of the newly turned vampires were offered a position in the Coven Galca, others were allowed to freely join any other coven or remain coven-less. They are simply asked to pay a small debt to the Coven in return for their transformation.

It was through this rigorous process that the vampiric race was able to sustain itself in the wake of the growing human population. This was the means by which Valerian was transformed, having participated within the school and having killed off the competitors thrown against him. He was offered a place as a member of the Coven Galca. He was gifted with his enhanced power and strength and soon came under the tutelage of the Patriarch, Dragoslav Galca. He's been rigorously trained in methods of vampiric and human combat, magic and with knowledge of how to destroy werewolves. He is the Head Werewolf Hunter of the Coven Galca, in fact. He's killed 74 werewolves to date.

UBA ALI-BAZIK
BIRTH: 2836 | CREATION: c. 2860 | AGE: 655
GENERATION: VII | COVEN: Ali-Bazik
Patriarch of the Coven Ali-Bazik
Image
Born in Majorca of Moorish and Berber decent in 920 AD. The Island was ruled by Roman vampires who used the island to fuel slavery across the region, bringing much wealth for the houses. Uba was one born into slavery motherless as she was taken to be a prize slave for the human merchant families underneath vampyric yoke.

Majorca was known for their brutal tales of slavery and vampyric superiority was ever more evident. Uba was mostly used as a beast of burden, but his mind was sharp to understand the vampyric politics and that they were indebted to the Empire and Great Houses. He decided to take matters in his own hands as he grew strong and cunning enough to be a loyal servant master for his vampyric master and staked them in the heart. He drank the vampire's blood to become one of them.

He decided to overthrow the Roman vampires by choosing to make his own coven behind a heretic style of Islam that accepted vampirism as part of the faith. The Coven grew in power and did a slave revolt that destroyed the Roman power and many were eaten, believing that the act would make them stronger. The Coven assumed control of the island and pledge themselves to the Empress and take on the debts of the former Roman masters. As of right now, the Balearic Islands have a unique culture for being Moorish and have little in the way of rebellions and slavery. Uba has been looking to pay off his debts and expand his power by going against the Church to establish vampyric rule.

MARIE BISSET-BRUECHER
BIRTH: 3035 | CREATION: 3070s? | AGE: 456
GENERATION: VIII | COVEN: None
The Ghost
Marie-Angelique Bisset was born out of wedlock in a small village in Rouen, France to Céline Bisset, a former lounge singer who now made most of her living by selling handmade jewelry or flowers ever since her career took an abrupt end. Her father, Victor was a violinist and had been the director of the musical company and troupe for which Céline formerly worked. Now Céline was renowned for her great beauty and sweet nature as well as her singing voice, which left her with no shortage of suitors. Once she became pregnant however, Victor no longer acknowledged her, and never acknowledged the child. Given the time period they lived in, that made things very hard on Céline and her daughter. Despite the stigma, and the fact that they never had much since she was pressured into leaving the company to avoid scandal, Céline was a loving mother to her only child and she and Marie were very close, although her childhood was rough.

When Marie was five, Céline met a kind widowed butcher named Jean-Luc, who was doing quite okay for himself. When she had attempted to sell him some flowers, the two fell in love and eventually married. Life improved a bit for the three of them, and Marie soon had three younger half siblings. She was a smart and clever child, and preferred to sit in a quiet, shadowy place reading or playing alone rather than the noise of crowds. Marie's family jokingly called her fantôme, or "ghost", for her ability to slip away unnoticed and be so quiet that people often forgot that she was there. Uneventful years passed and she grew up to be a lovely young woman. Marie had always been fascinated by vampires, something her religious stepfather found disturbing. And she had never been able to attend school like she wanted, so she saved up her small bit of money and decided to travel, finding it the best way to learn. It was during one of these travels that she met August Almássy-Bruecher, a German-Hungarian farmer who also had a love of books and the supernatural. They only spoke a few times, but quickly developed a bond over their shared interest. She eventually decided to stay with him for a while, and when he saved her from a group of thugs that's when they fell in love. They married and had five sons: Gyula, Alucard, Lucius, Jean-Luc and Andrássy. The family lived in peace for a number of years when a mysterious man came to their door one night. He tried to attack them when the door was opened, but Marie managed to fend him off with a knife. Impressed by her courage, he laughed and decided to spare her. They ran into each other again when she was alone, he noticed how quietly she managed to sneak up on a bird and capture it.

Eventually, a sickness swept through their small town and Marie had gotten very ill, her husband and sons away in another area. The same man appeared, revealing he was a vampire and offering to turn her. As he was quite interested in her skills. Thinking him some fevered dream, she agreed jokingly. However when she woke up, she realized that she was indeed a vampire and was both frightened and impressed. She was terrified that her family would think her a monster and that she would hurt them, so she ran away and met the vampire who had turned her. He revealed that he was impressed by her stealth and wanted to train her. Feeling she had no choice but to agree, she did. And her sire trained her and honed her natural quietness, she was in and out like a shadow. Her husband had tracked her down months later out of concern. She warned him to stay away, that she was a monster. August reassured her that he loved her regardless, and although afraid faced her sire and said he was taking his wife home, as he would not be without her. He agreed to let them go on the condition she finish her training. Under her sire's guidance, Marie became a quick and deadly assassin. She became known to the vampires as simply The Ghost, as very few except her employers know her true identity. Eventually she turned her husband upon his request, so they could be together forever. Each of their sons were given the choice upon becoming adults, and they all accepted although some took a little longer than others. A human uprising took her mother and a sister, but she had managed to rescue her stepfather and siblings who refused to be turned and quite frankly were afraid. Marie had been wandering with her husband and sons ever since, as her renown grew so did the contracts...and eventually she started training her children who wanted to learn. She is truly loyal to none but her family...and who can pay the most.

Like most vampires (or most vampires she knows), Marie's skin is deathly pale. She has a long face with angular features and is quite tall for a woman, she stands at six foot one in her bare feet. Her build is slender and wiry, but still has some feminine curves about it. Her pale blonde hair reaches just below her mid-back and is almost always swept into a ponytail. She has almond shaped eyes, with bright yellow-green irises and usually always wears gray or black eyeshadow, and wears blue rectangle shaped glasses. She prefers to dress in old Victorian or French male styles, but will wear modern clothes. Purple frock coats or trenchcoats are pretty much her signature though.

QUIRINIUS DI CAELIANO
BIRTH: 3467 | AGE: 24 | HOUSE: di Caeliano
Prince Assistant to the Holy See
Commandant of the Papal Guard
Intelligent at an extremely young age, Quirinius was destined for greatness. The di Caelianos are some of the most important figures in Christendom, with one of the two of the highest lay-offices in the Papal States a hereditary title accorded to their head. Quirinius spent much of his early life training in the art of warfare, a surprising change for a family that has traditionally aimed to consolidate its power in the College of Cardinals. He would be the first heir to the di Caelianos since their foundation to study under the tutelage of not a Cardinal, but a swordsman. For many years, accordingly, Quirinius has read the Bible not as the word of the Lord, but as the language of the deeds of his faithful.

It has been some years since Quirinius' father chose to withdraw from the politics of the Church, in order to secretly pursue his hopes of developing techniques to best make use of counter-weapons to the hated vampires, including the stake and silver. Whilst his father simply believed the Church a lame duck in the war for the souls of humanity, for the communion blood against the corrupted blood of the vampires, Quirinius' concerns are equally theological. His arrangements with the Catholic Church is an alliance of convenience, and he considers himself a first-line-of-defense against a vampiric Empire that is simply the most egregious example of the devil's hold on humanity. Accordingly, unlike his father, Quirinius is dedicated to inquisitioning and eradicating nobles who put their personal gains or the gains of the Empire above those of the church of believers.

At the age of 21, Quirinius came to command the Papal Guard in recognition of his mastery over his father's techniques in combat - mostly developed to fight the hated vampires, they nevertheless proved to be quite impressive in the training grounds. It is, of course, also no small coincidence that the position came in conjunction with the last di Caeliano Cardinal passing away. Quirinius' newfound secular power quickly put paid to any murmurings within the house - or even within the church - as to his questionable loyalties and theological leanings. For the last few years, he has carefully brokered a mutual understanding with the militant orders and clergy of the Church, equal parts wary and enamored with a church that represents much of humanity, but does so within a Byzantine political structure with which he and his family are well-acquainted. The untimely passing of his father under suspicious circumstances have catapulted Quirinius into regional politics.

A tall, severe-looking gentleman, Quirinius and his dynasty are well-known for their habit of wearing unshorn beards and hair. Well-dressed and stylish, his clothing tends to be in the habit of the clergy, but adorned with a myriad of religious and secular heirloom jewellery and accessories - inherited over many years, carrying more value in their history than in the circumstances of their making. Despite his noble carriage and his donning of clothing largely inspired by religious vestments, he is nevertheless an accomplished duelist in both sword and pistol and a capable mounted commander, and like most of his family, he and his body are well-suited to the practice of both traditional and modern warfare. The built-up nature of Rome and Quirinius' preference for long, clerical vestiments has given him a pale nature comparative to the soldiers under his command, but his face still reveals a rich golden brown bounded by stark tanlines unbefitting a noble.

Ooh. This looks cool. I'll swing in a character when I can.

As far as vampires go- do they need to feed daily? Weekly? Go feral if they fail to feed?

Ralnis: Looking forward to it!

G-Tech: Looking forward to seeing your character. As far as vampires, the commonly accepted wisdom would be "every 2 or 3 days", most likely. A strong-willed vampire could resist the urge to feed for a few weeks at most, and some vampires with rare abilities can sustain themselves temporarily on other sources of food (meat for example), but generally a vampire could go no more than a week without feeding before succumbing to their urges and going feral until well-fed.

Name: Zhukov Felfaen
Form: [ ] Human | [X] Vampire
Age: 1090
Gender: Male
House/Coven Allegiance: House Felfaen
Occupation: Patriarch of House Felfaen, nominally.
Appearance: A tall giant of a man, Zhukov's skin is the bizarrely dark for a vampyr, weathered by the pale midnight sun of a distant land he rarely mentions which is so weak even vampires can withstand it. Broad in the shoulders and muscled as only a smith of many years can be, his deep black hair slashed in a military style and stunning emerald eyes cut a sharp juxtaposition to a nose that has been broken several times, and a body that is beset with the scars of conflicts he rarely speaks of.
Biography: Would prefer to flesh out ICly for fluff, if you don't mind. I'll edit this if you do mind.
RP Samples: Relevant, for perusal.

Name: House Felfaen
Leader: Zhukov Felfaen
Resources points: 20/20
Members: 700 Blooded, several thousand humans and lesser Houses.
Coven or House Seat: The Obsidian Throne, a fortress of great strength delved into the stone high in the Erzgebirge of Austria-Germany.
Coat of Arms: A great warhammer of black on a field of midnight purple.

G-Tech: I would not mind you fleshing out the biography in-character, but at least give me a little about who we're working with. Also, I do believe you've confused the Coven Seat and the Coat of Arms spaces. The coven seat is where your coven is primarily based out of, the coat of arms is what you have in the coven seat.

Hey! Reserve me a spot if it's limited, please. And i have to agree with the above post, fifty is a bit much since you could get full scores in two categories and still not be too shaky in the third. It's a bit overpowered i think.

What is the state of Christendom in the RP? Did it get muted by the Myravian Empire, is there still a Protestant Reformation - or even a Catholic Church?

New Minahasa: I was torn between 40, 45, and 50. Venzalor has 55 because it's a unique coven, so I'll probably tone it down to 45 points a piece. Leaving House Felfaen alone because he got here before the change and because that point setup is lopsided as it is (two 20s and an 8). 45 will make sense because the "average" coven/house (15 a piece) can be debt free (but not wildly wealthy), decently connected (but not completely connected), and reasonably influential (without being Kalara or the Pope).

Frozen Forest: Not limited, and see my response to Minahasa.

Grim Reaper: It's probably a very powerful force among humans and one of the major instigators of anti-vampire action. It came into being shortly before the rise of Kalara and the vampires. It's simply that to this point, the vampires have been one step ahead. Now, with the vampire society appearing to fragment, the Church could actually seize the initiative. (I doubt there would be a Protestant Reformation unless the -whole church- was reformed, because Christians would have more pressing issues.)

I was considering applying for like a sort of turncoat vampire coven that supports the underground Church, but I suppose that'd be too convoluted. Might be best to stick to a human noble house if I want to play around with the Church?

Name: Dragoslav Galca
Form: [ ] Human | [X] Vampire
Age: 1,288 years old approximately
Gender: Male
House/Coven Allegiance, if any: Coven Galca
Occupation: Patriarch of the the Galca Coven
Appearance:
Image

A short bio: Dragoslav was "Born" if you could call it that, 1,288 years prior.

RP samples: Ironically i have three links in my signature, but i'll give you this as well. It's an application i made just tonight actually, it's at the bottom of the page. Here.

Mews, should I update House Felfaen’s population numbers? I didn’t really have a scale to work off at the time, and hundreds of vampires seems rather small compared to populations of tens of thousands in other major covens

If you could, that would be great. Those sound like logical figures for the ~1700s.
