Appearance:Character State of Origin: Delaware(Image)
Character State of Residence: Delaware
Character Party Affiliation: Democrat
Main Strengths: Wealthy, Strong Liberal Voting Record, Democrat Establishment
Main Weaknesses: Closet Homosexual, Alleged Affair1, Parents bribed Congressman so he could go to officer school
Biography: Harold Parks was born into a wealthy family, his father a successful doctor and his mother having inherited hundreds of millions from her parents.2 He grew up an extraordinarily blessed youth, attending private school for his entire life. He was never confronted with any major trauma. The only major occurrence during his youth was when his parents discovered his homosexuality by mistake. His parents had high hopes for his success, and demanded he keep his feelings private and suppress any idea of homosexual activity. His parents were conservative Christians, and there failure to understand his feelings would soon sour his feelings against both of them, and the religion they held dear. He would apply to officer school for the United States Navy after graduation. His mothers wealth and fathers national fame as a doctor3 made acquiring a Congressman's approval easy. After donating a large amount of money to a certain Congressman, Parks got his sign off.
His time at office school went by quickly, where he would do very well in all his classes. He graduated on time at the age of 23, and went on to serve as a deck officer on a Ticonderoga Class Cruiser. His success in the navy was mediocre, 4 as he showed a resentment for authority. His service in the armed forces further required him to suppress his most secret emotions. When he turned 30, his parents essentially arranged a marriage between him and a prominent business partner. He would go through with the wedding, despite his complete lack of interest. Despite the sham that the marriage was to him, him and his wife would have 2 children.
At 31 he was promoted to the rank Lt. Commander,4 and was given a station at the Maryland Naval Yard. He would retire at age 39 from the Navy, a few short years after attaining the rank of Commander.5 Shortly after, his wife discovered a secret affair between Harold and a former sailor under his command. The discovery nearly resulted in a divorce. His parents paid her off and spent months begging her, in order to stave off what they feared would ruin their sons reputation. The marriage would hold. Using his mothers money and influence,6 he ran for the United States Congress for Delaware, which only has one House Seat, in 2004. Running as a democrat, he faced little opposition in the primaries, and would go on to win the election by a narrow margin of 53% to 47%. While in the House, he held a commandingly liberal voting record, siding with the party elite in every vote.7 He would cosponsor multiple pieces of legislation, and even wrote a gun control law that failed at vote. He tried to lead an effort in 2005 to pass new environmental protection program that would never make it past committee. In 2006, he won re-election by a large margin of 58% to 42%. In 2007, he rallied enough support to propose a gay marriage rights bill to the house that would have legalized gay marriage nation wide. The measure failed, and he would adamantly speak out against Republicans who opposed it.
In 2007, he announced his candidacy for the United States Senate in the upcoming 2008 Senate Election. His strong left wing policies would allow him to defeat the previous, more moderate incumbent Senator in the party primaries. He would go on to defeat the Republican challenger 51% to 47%. The victory enabled him to join the Untied States Senate. During his first term, he played a major role in passing Winston Care, a signature piece of legislation that would earn him a lot of praise not only among the left, but among his mostly democrat constituents. He advocated massively for gay rights, tax cuts for the poor and middle class, and was instrumental in major funding boosts to the EPA, HUD, and HHS. In 2014, he would win re-election and now continues to serve as a well known liberal member of the party. During the most recent election, he was an adamant critic to the Republican Nominee, criticizing his policies regularly on CNN and MSNBC. He most recently voted against the BBA, publically opposing it and denouncing it as both stupid and dangerous.

1. To what extent has this allegation been publicized?
2. From what source?
3. Details? Doctors are rarely nationally famous.
4. While he could likely reach Lieutenant, it is doubtful that mediocre service would merit a promotion, and he would likely remain an O-3. As an additional note, he could not reach the rank of Lt. Commander in that short of a timeframe.
5. See above. Somewhat conveniently, at maximum levels, his retirement sans promotion would come at age 39, as an O-3 Lieutenant, which gells excellently with the established order. I would recommend that modification.
6. His mother being a conservative Christian, what influence does she hold in a Democratic primary?
7. Not that the two are always mutually exclusive, but should it be assumed he would side with the establishment will over a more ideologically liberal proposition in instances where the two were in conflict?
General Points: A skill weakness and a public weakness to be added would be appreciated.

Biography: Samuel "Sam" Begay was born on the Comanche Indian Reservation in Oklahoma. He struggled as his family grew up poor, as most Native Americans did. Not long after his 6th birthday his parents divorced, leaving Begay with his mother and 2 younger siblings. At age 16, he dropped out of high school, working odd jobs here and there, seeing no future at all on the reservation. However, after barely scrapping by for almost 2 years. His best friend went off and joined the military. Seeing his way off the reservation and a way to really start a new life and make money, he tried the same thing. However, he was rejected for dropping out of high school. He went back to studying and got his G.E.D, before attending a local community college to get some college credits before enlisting in the US Army as a 19D Calvary Scout. He passed basic and eventually would go onto the 82nd Airborne Division, starting as an E-1.
Despite the initial shock of military life, he soon grew used to it and actually began to enjoy it. He deployed overseas apart of Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm, where he saw his first action He received his promotion to Specialist, and decided to try and make a career out of the military possibly. he returned home and was allowed to attend university at the University of Oklahoma while in the reserves. He graduated with a B.A in Economics and a minor in Arabic in 1995 at the age of 23. By 2001 he had remained in the military and attended Ranger School in 1997. After 9/11, he was sent over to Afghanistan where he received the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. It wasn't a terribly serious wound, shrapnel from an IED while on patrol in a Humvee. However, afterwards he returned back to Ft. Bragg. His enlistment ended in 2003, and Samuel decided not to renew it and left the military as a Staff Sergeant. He returned home to his native Oklahoma where he bounced from meaningless job to job, trying to adjst back to civilian life and working a "real" job for the first time in his life. His struggles with PTSD didn't help at all, as he pushed people away and turned to alcoholism.
His fortunes changed when he met Lucia, a recent graduate from Law School at Oklahoma and a fellow Comanche Indian. She motivated Samuel to get back into the swing of things, as well as to start to go to Church. Soon after he officially was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic Church. In 2004 he joined the Norman Police Department, moving up in positions quickly, and after a few years made the SWAT team in Norman. He enjoyed the work, moving up in the ranks of the Police quickly and eventually moving into the management as he got older. IN 2014 he left the police as a Captain. Upon leaving, he returned back to his Reservation home with his now young family with 2 kids and started to work to help his people. He started his work for the Tribal government in 2014 before leaving that position in 2016. He left because he felt that he could do more. Help his people, and all the Native Tribes in a way that no one had done before, at the highest levels of government. He chose to run for office for the US House of Representatives in the 4th District of Oklahoma. He ran as a Democrat, but ran on a moderate platform, as Oklahoma was a generally red-state. His moves paid off. He started as a major underdog, but won over the small, but important Native American and minority votes of the district early. His platform was based around a lot of social conservatism, based around his Catholicism, and openly talked about how he opposed abortion. That won over many more of the swing voters of the district. What also helped was his status as both a Military veteran and combat veteran, as well as a Police Captain serving in Norman, Oklahoma. He soon started to rise in the polls and on election day, squeaked out a victory, 49.5% - 48.9%. The results went into a recount, and the victory wasn't official until early the next day. His first months as an elected official, he was keep a very quiet and low profile. Feeling his way into office and figuring out how the roles and rules of politics work. Being from an out of the way state like Oklahoma makes him much less of a target. However, he is increasing motivated and agitated about issues dealing with Native treaties, territory and wellbeing. Becoming very vocal when such issues arise.
