Introduction

The Great Schism Event. A catastrophic event that overturned civilizations and took many untold lives. It has been several years since that event, and nations struggle to regain their former glory. Once enslaved species have now risen up and contest against the human supremacy over the land. Temples of the old gods are being rebuilt, granting special powers to the few.

Explanation

Welcome All, to The Gods’ Requiem, the sequel and reboot to Gods Walk The Mortal Plane. For those of you coming back, this may serve to be a refresher, and to those who are new this is pretty vital. This takes place a thousand years after the events of Gods Walk The Mortal Plane. Technology and Magic once went hand in hand, but after several wars and magic depletion in the environment, all nations are back to square one. Mages have become rarer and technology is mostly going to be in the medieval ages. This is mainly a deity rp, of course nation and world building are allowed. Several things to note are that there are inter-species conflict and humans are not united. The war between the dark beings and humans in the north should also be of note.

At the centre of the universe is the mortal plane. A spherical planet where mortals reside. Right now it is mostly empty, covered with water interspaced with vast swathes of land. It is full of primitive life; it is largely forested, and full of all manner of beasts you’d expect to see on our own planet. Humans exist, but are currently subsisting on stone age technology in a hunter-gatherer society. Orbiting this are the planes of the gods. What form your plane takes is up to you. It could be a planetoid or other cosmological construction. Maybe it doesn’t have a fixed location, maybe it can’t be seen from the mortal plane. It can be something more abstract. Maybe it’s a complex assortment of non-euclidean shapes all entangled together, maybe its a conceptual manifestation of your power, and can only be reached through astral projection or mortal dreams, or maybe its a void-like hole in spacetime. Is it a paradise? Do your worshippers come there when they die? How can it be reached? You exert absolute, omnipotent control over your plane, even over other gods. Note: it is not necessary to have your own plane.

What is the extent of a deity’s power? A god cannot exert control over another god or its domain, unless the thing they are exerting control over involves the domain of both gods. A god may even be killed. As mentioned earlier, each god has an avatar. If the avatar is killed, the god will die. A god can die either by noble sacrifice or righteous slaying. A noble sacrifice allows the god in question to unleash power unfathomable, and can only be achieved in times of great rage or grief. It may be used to exert permanent change over another god, domain, to kill another god or gods, or do something else that this god was incapable of doing otherwise. A god may be righteously slain anyone, even a mere mortal. This two is driven by grief or rage, and may be used to depose tyrannical gods. A god may also be destroyed while in another god’s plane, but cannot be killed in their own plane.

As time goes on, and the world becomes more complex, you may want to create civilisations, races, and individual mortals. It is possible to RP as a faction, nation, mortal or demi-god (note: a demi-god may inherit some power from their parent, but will not be immortal). If you think one of your creations or mortals will be important, and/or wish to play as them, you can apply for one. Please don’t apply for too many. I’d like to operate a “no loose ends” policy - if your race/civilisation/faction/mortal, is no longer relevant, they may be destroyed. Once you have one app accepted in any genre, your apps no longer need to be officially accepted before you begin to use them (the exception being gods, which must always be accepted before they may be used). I’d also like for most races/species to be free game for mortal and factional applicants, so feel free to apply for a faction or mortal etc that relies on another player’s creations, just don’t go against their established lore (if someone creates elves, and stipulates they all have purple skin, and you’re desperate to play an elven faction, sorry, you’re stuck with purple skin).

History of before the Great Schism
(Note this is incomplete due to a massive lost of records during both the great fire of A.G.S 134 and the general land changes of the Schism.)


40 B.G.S Scientists and mages start to detect massive amounts of power coming from the sun.

39 B.G.S A massive solar flare is observed by the masses at night. There were heavy fluctuations in magical power that were recorded.

37 B.G.S A massive blackout occurs causing a majority of electronics to go out. Mages and scientist have no definitive ideas as to the cause.

35 B.G.S First recorded decrease in magic energy in the environment. Mages and Scientists frantically study these changes.

33 B.G.S The unbalance in the magic causes the first major war between the nations of Greenwald and Wern with massive deaths on both sides.

29 B.G.S First recorded loss of magical power in a mage in the Grand Xia. Scientists and Magical institutions baffled.

23 B.G.S Drenden after a short battle with Ven forces Drenden uses WMDs for the first time after hundreds of years. Nations condemn the use of WMD.

22 B.G.S Massive hysteria as magical power starts to decrease at an exponential rate. Scientists believe there may be a disease. Nations start to close off travel and trade.

19 B.G.S Riots and civil wars breakout over the entire world sighting of a steel clad warrior but are written off as hysterical rumours. Last contact of the Fantasia Races up north before communication shut-off. Efforts to stop the magical loss have been stunted due to massive wars.

17 B.G.S Earthquakes measuring 6 to 7 on the Richter scale spread across the coast causing massive tsunamis destroying whole cities in it's wake. Major damage to coastal Nations and estimated deaths of up to millions. Small nations collapse and/or absorbed by bigger nations. Reports of mages losing power years after the first recording of loss. Small religious groups claiming to be “Servants of Lenu” start rebellions in multiple areas.

16 B.G.S Reports say a huge magical drop occurs sending shockwaves through the entire mage community sending some nations built on magic into full anarchy. Grand Xia collapses due to major inner turmoil and corruption, the first major collapse of a powerhouse. This sends the stock market into a downward spiral causing the other major powers to slowly splinter. Political fringe groups form as a result of this economic downturn.

14 B.G.S Massive ethnic cleansing occurs in most countries due to fears of who is causing this. The “servants of Lenu” gain power in Drenden and switch to a strict theocracy. Nations denounce the new government change amidst fears of growing over-zealous religious activities. Other species attacking lone group of humans have been reported in remote areas. These reports have been dismissed by authorities. Still no sign of magical loss stopping in the world.

12 B.G.S First major invasion by dark beings begins a massive force pushes southwards from the north but are stopped 100 miles in. Nations in panic as they are unprepared for the next invasion of dark beings. Hundreds of reports of mages losing magical powers start to accumulate, suicide rates seem to positively correlate with increasing number of reports.

11 B.G.S After a year of a brutal war of attrition, the human forces push northwards, overrunning the dark beings sending them back. However massive wars between Southern nations erupt causing the push northwards to stall. Mass use of WMD’s destroy large amounts of the human population. Numerous species that once were enslaved by humanity have now broken their chains and start to revolt against their masters. Sightings of a silver-armoured man waving a sword in the middle of the battlefield while running around into trenches have been reported. Many institutions vital to research and the preservation of culture are destroyed. This allows the dark beings to start to replenish their units.

10 B.G.S to 0 B.G.S
Records of this time are either hysterical ramblings or unreadable writings. Several things are certain however, mages have become rarer and the human population has drastically decreased. New nations have arisen from the ashes of the old. The old language have been all but forgotten. We can also gather that the land has changed as well with most of the old lands being underwater and our world being above water. Magical power seems to have stabilized, however nobody knows when the next cataclysmic event will happen next. The old gods from centuries are starting to rise from past obscurity as altars and obelisks are built.

Description: A demon of the void, Manacar is an evil spirit of a king that had taken refuge into this body of marble. Before the time of electronics, the king was known as a tyrant who lusted for eternal life, thus he enlisted mages to make him immortal. In the end, it was completed but the only thing immortal was his soul, which left his body when a fierce revolt overthrew him. When his soul found this body, he took refuge but even his soul was destroyed as the previously weakened demon of manacar fed on it, thus arising once again.

However, with the help of Xirtisa and her army, she managed to seal manacar away into an eternally shifting labyrinth tower, at the cost of her own life. There, manacar laid in slumber for many years until one day adventurers came to the tower and accidentally got themselves killed by awakening it. Now with new found souls, manacar has begun to enact revenge on the other gods, wishing to only see darkness consume this world once more.
Plane: In between worlds and dimensions, it is believed that there is a world where a single tower remains among a dark world. It is unknown as to why it is there, but Manacar has soon made it it's plane by force.

Description: Haveraw is a coastal nation, and earns a large portion of its income from the seasonal upwellings of nutrients every year, as it entices multitudes of fish and the animals that feed on them to the area. They believe it to be an ancient blessing from their patron god, Soion. It is a unitary monarchy under the rule of King Dedermes, the third male king in a row. Every five years, the people are surveyed to see if they are satisfied with their current ruler, and if approval ratings drop below 30 percent, then the king will be replaced- referred to as a "popular dethroning." If approval ratings remain above the cutoff, then the king can continue to lead until they chose a successor. A popular dethroning has not occurred in over 50 years, but with discontent rapidly spreading across the country due to a terrible fish count because of a late upwelling this year, Dedermes is reasonably worried. The National Throne Survey begins in 15 months.

When conversing with humans he likes to appear as a humanoid in white robes and a perpetually morphing facial structure.

Description: Having control over cycles, Soion is oftentimes fickle and easily bored. A rather recently formed deity, Soion does not know much about its origins, though it believes it came to sentience around 7 A.G.S. In 20 A.G.S. it came to the mortal plane and was immediately fascinated by the complex systems that regulated the planet- the cycles of water, and rock, and various elements, and even organisms (which Soion derisively describes as being raw, crude, and exceedingly overcomplicated.) Like a self-taught artist, Soions became immersed in study of the ocean currents, and even studied human beings, leading to the development of a religion based around him in Haveraw. After creating his magnum opus, the Oscillation (leading to the periodical upwellings that provide prosperity to the people of Haveraw each year), Soion grew bored and retreated back to his dimensional plane in 29 A.G.S. However, Soion's attitude cycle is coming back around to curiosity, and he is eager to meddle in the mortal realm once again...
Plane: Residing largely in another dimension, it is encased in a three-dimensional bubble visible from the mortal plane as a dim star that traces an arc across the night sky every three days. Soion's plane itself is a fractoformic hendecagonal prism and serves as his living quarters. During the obsessive phases of his attitude cycle, Soion tries to create perfect life in his plane, being frustrating with the overcomplexity of living things in the mortal plane. So far, he has only managed to create simple prokaryotes, and these are even more complex and inefficient than their versions in the mortal realm.

Not a power structure per say but Gods receive power from the thing they are based off of and prayer for example me being a war god I would be weak in peace time while say a god of peace would be more powerful.
