Space Studies Institute
The Universal Commons Space Station receives several automated manufacturing models. These modules will be used to make computer chips of very high quality for the manufacture of a parallel processing supercomputer of new design. They also are manufacturing crystalline memory modules for the computers of a new design.
The semiconductors are of unusual purity and are built using a 3D manufacturing process. The zero gravity environment allows for testing of new materials that cannot be manufactured on earth.

The new supercomputer will be housed in the Space Studies Institute and will be used to help search the sky for signs of extraterrestrial life. It will also be used to study the possibility of creating a solar lensing telescope.

WHO WE ARE

The International Space Federation is a group of nations dedicated to advancing humanity through the peaceful exploration of space. Comprised of different nations and organizations, from those who have set man down on the Moon and other planets to those who haven't yet managed to launch their first rockets. The nations of the International Space Federation have collectively dedicated themselves to the pursuit of spaceflight, the advancement of humanity in the vast reaches of the cosmos, and the furthering of our knowledge of the Final Frontier.

WHAT WE DO

The International Space Federation, through its member nations and space agencies, owns and operates numerous facilities, spacecraft, and space stations or bases which are open for use. While nations are welcome, and encouraged, to supply their own facilities, spacecraft, and materials, the ISF allows cooperation between her member states and organizations so that every member has an equally important part to play in the growth and goals of the ISF.
Avi's new, capitalist leadership will be commited to advancing the great tech power of space, so we shall join this group

The ISF is open to nations and space agencies of any size and wealth, regardless of whether the space agency is a fully-established enterprise or a new but aspiring space program, or even a nation without a space agency looking to grow one. The ISF will use its financial resources to seed the development of space facilities and agencies in nations without them, boost space agencies who need just a little more help for a mission, or to support a major mission as a collective effort.

The ISF seeks the breaking of political and commercial barriers between her member states and organizations in the field and interest of human enlightenment through the pursuit of spaceflight.

OUR MEMBERSHIP LEVELS

Senior Member: Senior members are those Full Members which have contributed extensively to ISF operations, either through donations, use of facilities, mission participation, or service as organization directors. They have no special privileges relative to full members of the ISF.

Full Member: Full Members are those public and private space agencies which have their submitted application to join the ISF accepted. Full Members have an operational space program, facilities, launch sites, and all the required infrastructure to operate independently from the ISF. They hold all privileges and rights associated with membership of the ISF, but will be expected to contribute to ISF operations through use of facilities, personnel, and/or money.

Special Member: Special Members are public space agencies which may or may not have a fully operational space program, but lack the necessary infrastructure or funds to be able to operate launches by themselves, and is granted by with the acceptance of a submitted application. Members in this category are able to take part in ISF operations, and will be expected to contribute monetarily to ISF operations. The ISF will use portions of its monetary contributions to develop launch infrastructure within the borders of Special Member nations, which the ISF will supervise until the Special Member's space program is stable and operational, at which point they become Full Members automatically, with no need to submit a second application. (Private space agencies are expected to establish themselves before applying for membership in the ISF, and are thus ineligible to become Special Members.)

Partial Member: Partial Members are those space agencies (public or private) which are interested, but not fully committed, to ISF membership, and thus are not allowed all the privileges and rights associated with Full or Special Membership. It is granted with the acceptance of a submitted application. Agencies may use this level of membership to 'try' membership in the ISF, or use it as a demonstration of support without complete commitment.

Supporter: A non-member state, organization, or corporation that wishes to provide money or products to the ISF, but is either not a space agency or does not wish to meet the requirements for membership.

HOW TO JOIN

When considering joining as a member, be prepared to abide by all of these rules:

Out-of-Character Rules

1. All forum rules apply.
2. Nations that reach Ex-Nation status will have their memberships revoked. Checks for this will be carried out every
   Tuesday and Friday at 21:00 US Pacific time.
3. Let's keep things reasonable. Though ISF canon extends from 1940 to 2050, and though deviations from "realism"
   are unavoidable, no ridiculous donations or anything that would violate suspension of disbelief. As a general rule,
   we sit about 10-12 years after real-world tech for the equivalent time period (i.e. NS year 1949 carries '59-'61 tech).
4. Mewsland is operating as Opening Poster - there are no co-OPs at this time.
5. Don't rush my co-OPs or I into reading your application or a proposal for a project. If we haven't gotten to it in 3-5
   days, calmly make another post about it or send one of us a telegram.

In-Character Rules

1. The Council of Directors does not have to sign off on everything you're doing. As long as it is within the ISF's
   rules, research, launch, and create whatever you desire!
2. The ISF is not to be involved in any conflict. We are allowed to develop weapons, or focus on military purposes
   (for example, spy satellites or ICBM development), but that is the limit of the ISF's military involvement.
3. Full and Special Members are expected to provide at least 0.25% of their space agency budget or ten million
   NationStates Dollar (NSD), whichever is more, to the ISF budget annually.
4. Partial members are encouraged, but not expected, to contribute to ISF operations.
5. Proposals for ISF missions may be presented to the ISF Director of Projects and Planning or the General President,
   who will decide if the project will be presented to the full Council of Directors.

Space Studies Institute

The new supercomputer has been installed at the Space Studies Institute. It has been tied in with our outer space telescope. We are asking people to download a program called Extrasolar Object Identifier Screensaver which can run in the background of your computer to help identify extrasolar objects. This is a standardized program that will help make generic calculations from our database of objects. It will help us focus on objects of special interest. This is 20 MB download which connects with the internet.

We are also offering standard blocks of time to members of the International Space Federation. Two four hour blocks of time will be available each day for member researchers.

PISAR NEWS! Warning: incoming giant wall of text.

Today, director of low orbit manned operations at PISAR, Jennifer Halsenbjorg, announced plans for a new manned space station in low earth orbit to supplement and eventually replace the aging mid-term Viking Station, which was launched in 2028 and has already exceeded it's expected lifespan by 2 years. Parts are beginning to break down on the aging station and the space agency has developed plans to move most, and eventually all, of the experiments being performed on Viking to a new, highly experimental space station. The agency has preliminarily named the station Perseus Habitat. It is forecasted to include a large centrifugal gravity ring near the station's center of mass, greatly exceeding the size and function of the old inflatable ring onboard Viking; Instead of being simply designed as a testbed for centrifugal gravity, the ring on Perseus will be used as the functional main habitation module on the station, also supplying excersise machines and life support systems like those tested on the American-made Libertas Station eight years earlier. Perseus will also be supplied with power by a prototype vacuum thorium fission reactor, the greatest achievement of Project Dynast. The first module of Perseus is scheduled to be launched in January 2039, while the station is scheduled to be completed in June 2039. The station is planned to utilize stabilized strange matter to replicate thorium rods using heavily prototyped quantum assembly machines and a whole lot of energy. PISAR has assured the public that the thorium fission reactor onboard the station will be of no concern, as the cosmic radiation shielding installed onboard Iteration 6 Vacuum Suits (the current EVA suit used by PISAR) should be more than sufficient to withstand the steady flow of radiation from the reactor. The reactor is also planned to be installed along with an experimental fission regulator unit produced by Aetherion Corporation, a public technology company, that is forecasted to reduce the chance of meltdown to about 0.01192%. Perseus will be constructed from 8 pressurized modules at completion, with more being added on as needed. The modules were preemptively named Freyr (the first module and primary life support), Valhal (secondary habitation, excersize quarters and secondary cafeteria), Jotunheim (the quantum assembly module, also contains strange matter containment), Alfheim (contains the station's main biolab and hydroponic gardens), Vanaheim (physics lab, also contains terminal for thorium reactor control), Nidavellir (contains the engineering lab and also a small manufacturing facility for spare parts), Asgard (the habitation gravity ring, contains backup life support, primary habitation, excercise modules, the primary cafeteria, and secondary hydroponics), and Midgard (contains the comm systems on the station and the main dock for AVS-7A Damocles shuttlecraft.)

Is just for patrol purposes and exploration purposes of the space but a war can be inevitable sometimes and is better to be prepared at least having defensive systems.That is why Alenburg is donating his lastest technology it is a win-win situation. i am not saying tha ISF should go there declaring war to everyone.

Thing is, science organizatuons don't go to war. Look at the International Astronautical Federation. They aren't war capable because that is not at all their mission. Same here. We aren't Starfleet; there is no way in any MT realism we would have a military role
