Welps, I dun goofed. Thought you want all to sortie.

Sorry about that, Legatia. Must have misread it.

EDIT: And don't try to post till I do so tomorrow morning. That'll allow me enough time to post, since I have school that starts at 7:55 AM PST.

READ BELOW!

I RP as Novaya, a Human militaristic nation (cuz anime) and an archipelagic country. I also RP as the Novayan Stellar Commonwealth, a FanFT/FanFFT nation.
Please refer to me/my nation as Novaya in both IC and OOC, NOT Novaya Equestria.

That is a very good question, to be honest. I can not read it from the text.

Okay, that can be done. I would have loved to see her reaction to Searc's flirting, though... ; )

Wow. She's beautiful, both as a shipgirl and a ship. Very nice painting, Rustyal.
If I may ask, how long did it take to draw her?

Thanks! It took me 30 minutes, I estimate.

I apologize for not being active and leaving some people in the dark with my character interactions, but I had final essays to do and still have two more to write so I'll probably be indisposed until the end of next week. I hope I am not causing too much of an interruption and I'll try to get posts in here and there whenever I have time.

Another app coming up :) still working on the appearance and I could really use help for the technical data for the vessel.

Personell file - Operational Sector Wide Sea - South West

Name: HMS James Cook (Formerly James Cook)
Type: Merchant vessel/Support
Class: Converted Triumph merchant vessel
Role: Underway Replenishment/Advanced Fire Control and Telemetry/Anti-Air
Nation of origin: United Kingdom
Year commissioned: 1939 (recommissioned as a naval vessel in 1942)
Image or description of the ship girl/boy: Linky
Gender: Male

Character:
“Aye, Cook’s a hard worker, and a determined one at that. He never says ‘no’ to a job regardless of how difficult or how long. I’ve never heard him complain once about back-to-back shipments or extended long hauls, and even when a mission might be dangerous he just presses on regardless. Cook’s not the biggest ship in the fleet, sure, or the fastest, but if a job comes up that needs to get done on short notice – he’s the guy to call.”
- Mr. Jeffrey Victors, Dock Director, North Sea Sector.

“He’s a reliable worker and a good friend. If someone is in trouble, Cook will do everything that he can to help – even if he doesn’t necessarily think everything through before he dives straight in. He tends to make up a plan as he goes, and by his own damn good luck they usually wind up working out. I can’t even tell you how many times he’s left on shipments without only the barest of fuel margins but somehow has managed to make do.”
- HMS Florence, Supply Ship, North Sea Sector

“You’ve got to be kidding me? I’ll tell you what I think: it’s a stupid idea. You can’t just throw some fancy tech on a freighter and start calling him a warship. A Merchant Navy vessel has no place in a warzone and will just wind up getting in the way when the brown hits the fan. There’s no chance in hell that I’d want him sailing with me against an Abyssal battlegroup – let alone telling me how to use my own guns.
The poor bastard’s just going to get himself killed. All I can hope for is that he won’t take someone else down with him.”
- HMAS Canberra , Heavy Cruiser, North Sea Sector

Special abilities:
Straight and True – The advanced radar system onboard Cook is accompanied by entire rooms of dedicated computing equipment for outputting firing solutions. This allows for Cook to aggressively and accurately target fast aircraft with his anti-air weaponry, making him an effective screen for any larger ships he may be accompanying. He can also transmit computed firing solutions to the gunnery stations of allied vessels, improving their own accuracy and range.

A Helping Hand –[i] Although [i]Cook has been heavily refitted, a number of his cargo holds (both dry and wet) were maintained from his Merchant Navy days. This allows him to haul a not-insignificant amount of supplies and perform Underway Replenishment for allied vessels. While he can support smaller escort vessels, he is more well equipped to provide for larger capital ships which are better able to take advantage of his firing computers.

Technical Description of the vessel:
Technical Data
Displacement: 15,200t
Length (overall): 138.7m
Width: 18.9m
Draught: 8.5m
Propulsion:
Speed: 23 knots
Complement: 536
Armament: 20 x 40mm Bofor's Gun, 10 x 20mm Oerlikon Cannons, 2 x 5in guns in Single turrets, optimised for Anti-Air fused rounds
Armour: < 10mm added on top of the existing hull during refit
Notes:

Designed and built during the Second World War, the Triumph class was designed to transport men and material to the front line and between Allied powers. Similar to the American Victory ships, the Triumph were built with slightly smaller cargo holds but instead had more powerful engines equipped in order to better keep their escorts and run the occasional blockade. However, their first and foremost design feature was the ease and speed with which they could be built and deployed. Although dozens of the class were sunk in the Battle for the Atlantic, the surface and subsurface fleets of the Axis powers simply could not eliminate them faster than allied shipyards could produce them. This ultimately ensured that supply lines between Europe and America remained open and helped keep the United Kingdom in fighting shape.

Following a distinguished and reliable career, the James Cook was selected to undergo a refit that sought to take advantage of Britain’s expertise in radar and computation technology. Exploiting the large cargo holds built into Cook’s superstructure, he was fitted out with advanced telemetry equipment and even a Turing machine to rapidly produce accurate firing formulas for allied vessels. Operating in the English Channel, the Cook proved highly effective at detecting hostile bomber formations during the Battle for Britain and helped augment the existing radar grid. As the naval war in Europe wound down, he was redeployed to the Pacific where he was able to help guide shells from the Iowa reliably to their maximum range.

Ultimately serving with distinction, Cook would eventually be sunk near the end of the war. While performing an emergency replenishment of a stricken allied vessel, poor weather prevented him from sailing with an aerial escort. After being stumbled upon by a wolf pack of Japanese destroyers, the lightly armed vessel stood little chance of fending them off on its own. A shell eventually struck its cargo hold – filled with fuel and ammunition – and the ship went down with all hands.

Uh...I don’t think...

(Lanza Blanca in the background): “¡¿Huelo herejía?! (Do I smell heresy?!)”

No! Everything is okay over here.

(Lanza Blanca appears): “¡Sé exactamente lo que está pasando aquí! ¡Y la herejía no será tolerada! (I know exactly what is going on here! And heresy shalt not be tolerated!)”

Okay, time to get out of here...hopefully not the inquisition!

While it is not necessary per se, it might be a good idea to bring them on standby. Do you want me to summarize what happened for you?

With Searc and Lanza Blanca, the former asking Whona to tug the latter, most likely throwing in some flirting, while she provides cover.

Hm... we could take her prisoner, if you allow that, of course. What do the others think?

I'm thinking that his armour wouldn't be too terrible - having been bolstered during his refit to at least meet the expectations for a military vessel - but he would have nothing in the way of dedicated ship-to-ship weaponry and could only use his anti-air weaponry if he were really in a pinch. His ability to precisely and rapidly target fast-moving planes is what makes him a good anti-air vessel though, so even his AA weaponry isn't spectacular once that advantage is taken away. Heck, his namesake got sunk by a couple of destroyers :P My thinking is his armour is such that - were he to be engaged - he could try surviving long enough for nearby help to come to the rescue, but if he's caught all by himself then even a destroyer poses a life-or-death threat.

Hm... a combination of 40mm guns and 20mm guns, light AA to track and ultimately destroy fast-flying aircraft, maybe a select few heavier AA-guns to be a problem for heavier aircraft?
As for armour, maybe a few millimetres on to of the hull?

Personell file - Operational Sector Wide Sea - South West

Name: HMS James Cook (Formerly James Cook)
Type: Merchant vessel/Support
Class: Converted Triumph merchant vessel
Role: Underway Replenishment/Advanced Fire Control and Telemetry/Anti-Air
Nation of origin: United Kingdom
Year commissioned: 1939 (recommissioned as a naval vessel in 1942)
Image or description of the ship girl/boy:

Armament:
Armour:

Hm... when you said "5in guns in Single turrets, optimised for Anti-Air fused rounds", you meant these, right?
Other then that, looks good. I have no objections, so far.

Alright... So, Summary of Day 2, from your last post onwards:
    - The Novayans, in their efforts to cheer their carrier up, go completely bonkers and overboard, dragging a wild Ozelot into his face or proposing to establish a harem of Abyssals for their carrier, before they are reigned in by one of their own numbers. Shinosaki, the only sane adult amongst them (for a given definition of the term), reports them to Coriolanus.
    - Meanwhile, after Stilly suffered from a small breakdown, sleeping after crying herself to it, Dia's meeting with Sergei doesn't go as planned for either of them, with Miss Dia left crying - and Stilly comforting her.
    - Prophet is brought to the Scrap Shed by Rhiannon and manages to build a movie projector for reels, with the SDF-Cruiser in question thanking him in her own, unique way: She washes his face. During that, she begins to think about him as more then just a comrade and decides, that she likes him very, very much. The two hook up soon after, have to deal with the accusation of infidelity (apparently, some Novayan fairies thought, that she and Novaya were an item for some reason), which are quickly dispelled (mainly due to the fact, that Rhi and Novaya were not an item).
    - Baylee and Gibson Grover rescue a bunch of SDF-Navy Torpedo Boats belonging to Amy, who quikcly arrives to take them back - and who decides that Gibson is not guilty of any misbehaviour towards her boats, so she decides to reward him for his heroic deeds by putting her duty as destroyer tender on display, feeding the crew of the helicopter carrier.
    - Coriolanus finds the stocks of wine, which is unknown to anyone ICly.
    - Lanza Blanca arrived in the Operational Sector, waited for the night and made her way towards the base. She felt hunted by a large force of Abyssals (the supply convoy of the Abyssals), driven to spend her last fuel reserves and then, as she sits ducks, begins to make her last stand, firing at the convoy. A small part of the screening force, under the Prince Comet, is dispatched to deal with the offender, who calls for help. The call is heard, a relief force sets sail, although the battleship gets support a but sooner: Hashi and the two submarines, Nevlamas and Whitney, engage the force, scoring more then a few hits and sinking a few vessels. Prophet tried to sortie as well, to drag the battleship, but that failed, as the weather conditions do not allow for flight operations and Coriolanus thought him to be too vulnerable, his fairies spending themselves in a brawl. The Novayans deploy as well, but are called back, their carrier stopping midway (EDIT: And crying again, because he remembers the Night of Day 1, and the loss of his fairies). The Abyssal Destroyer Flotilla in the centre holds its own surprisingly well, but they are going to retreat (spoiler for my next post ; )).

Did I miss anything important?

No problem - and Wafa is sending her destroyers away, putting herself up as a bait to hold the kanmusu off for a bit before her inevitable demise, because she knows, that she is outgunned. If Comet wants to retreat, now would be the time.
