Yes and no, in that order.

Guess I better start reading those resolutions then.

If it makes you feel any better, many of the 400+ are either repeals or repealed resolutions, so the actual number of extant resolutions is much smaller, at a quick glance about 180.

I know that Catholic, IDU, and Forest have several notable GA members in their regions, but are there any other such regions with members that participate here?

Well, all nations that partake this forum obviously are in a region, and some people, like me, have several nations in different regions, but as for regions dedicated to dealing with GA? None, to my knowledge. The GA is more of an individual nation/player thing, apart from votes, as the forum is an IC one, and people's characters are their nations' ambassadors.

If you want to get involved with the GA, I suggest you make up an ambassador character and start poking around in the active threads. It's the better option to trying to find a region that's especially active here.

OOC: On Abortion is a very interesting and odd resolution. If such a resolution became the "law of the land" in many countries (especially the United States) it would be attacked as being anti-abortion. With that said, it's impossible to repeal Reproductive Freedoms. Many have tried and all have failed. This remains the ultimate fluffy resolution because who wants to repeal freedom?

As states, I support any attempt to repeal so-called "Reproductive Freedoms".

I honestly don't see how it can be interpreted as anti-abortion.

Because it lets you place tighter-than-RL restrictions on abortion.

Would it be possible for a nation to comply with WA law and be a tax haven? Or is there a WA resolution that would prevent it?

Entirely possible. Resolution #17 specifically prevents the GA from interfering in member nations' internal taxation. Beyond the minimum necessary to fund your nation's compliance with WA laws, your taxes are your own affair.

In general "anti-abortion" means "they want to shut down 'my' facility ..."

"FURTHER MANDATES that physicians who carry out abortions must be trained to the same accepted medical standards that all surgeons are held to"
Nurses, other non-physicians can perform abortions in California ... never mind that the general requirement is that of a physician and not a surgeon. OB/GYN often perform abortions in the real world.

By the way, here is an interesting comment I found on a doctor in training forum
OB/GYNs are the worst surgeons by far.... just look at their training... over a four year residency they spend probably 11-12 months in the OR (especially with the new focus towards primary care OB/GYN)... Very few programs include ICU rotations as part of their residency... and then all of a sudden we expect them to know how to manage the slightest deviation from a routine hysterectomy??? Trust me, as a gas-passer, I am privileged enough to witness surgeries on all services - and GYN is the worst by far as far as technical skill is concerned. The slightest surgical gaffe, and 2-3 liters of blood later, and they still have no clue what they are doing... It is a bit better on GYN/ONC but not much better (because now the surgeons have an extra TWO years of surgical training for a whopping total of THREE years of surgery), and most of the time I pray for a random PGY-3 or PGY-4 general surgery resident to come in and fix the problem... the only gyn/onc surgeons who defy this are the ones who were trained as general surgeons first.

There is also the question of "and that abortions are carried out in a way that is as painless as possible while preserving the mother's physical health" but that can be complex since it doesn't define for whom.

This is NOT a thread for abortion discussions.

Take RL discussions to the General forum. Discuss proposals and repeals in the appropriate threads.

Continuation of this threadjack will result in warnings. Enough, already.

Are traps gay?

Postby Lago Vista » Tue Nov 28, 2017 9:22 pm

When are we finally going to pass resolution to, once and for all, declare that TRAPS ARE GAY? We have around 500 resolutions; none of which make a definitive stance on this topic.

I have a question. How do you get in contact with all the committees, specifically agencies, created by the GA resolutions? Or are we just supposed to RP that they visited our nation?

RP. They don't "exist" in a game mechanics sense.

What I mean to say is, what if there was a forum where nations could contact these agencies? If such a forum is necessary. I'm sure in all the GA resolutions that have been passed, there are at least a few agencies that perform meaningful or important work.

You can use whichever of the National and International Roleplaying forums seems appropriate (II for conflicts, GE&T for economics, etc), and interact with whichever nations want to participate. Nothing you do there will impact your nation in any way in actual terms, but it can be fun to roleplay. My nation once attempted to resolve a dispute over The Law Of The Sea via a Dodgeball War. The only limit is your imagination.

This is more intended for the mods, I wasn't sure whether to put it here or in Technical.

The thread for the "Guide to WA committees" linked in the GA Proposal Compendium is this one.. However, on that thread, Sciongrad has stated that that thread will not be maintained and that the correct thread is the one in his signature. (this, which, by the way, isn't up to date either, but it's better.)

I would be quite happy to do that.

Also, one more thing for the mods: the Passed Resolutions (sorted by category) link in the Compendium should link to IA's RexisQuexis Categories, not to Mouse's old thread.

Remember that before you grab info off of someone else's previous attempt, you need to ask their permission to do so.

Merni wrote:Also, one more thing for the mods: the Passed Resolutions (sorted by category) link in the Compendium should link to IA's RexisQuexis Categories, not to Mouse's old thread.

You might want to post that in Moderation, since it'll get noticed there faster. :)
