  • Cecil is a disillusioned ex-cultist with the ability to see the best of all possible futures. As a result, he has precognition and visions of the perfect world, though the former is fairly inaccurate. Despite knowing that this perfect world does not include him, Cecil aspired towards its existence, anyways -- that's why he joined Young Bloods and became a superhero, purging the land of the unclean.

  • Amaryllis is a happy-go-lucky college dropout who accidentally summoned the devil while making a ham sandwich. Some might call her lucky, but this isn't anything special -- it's just how she is! She rented her soul in exchange for superpowers, and as a result, she can animate objects and turn them into golems. Her diet is unhealthy and her exercise is infrequent, which doesn't help her physical condition -- who needs to walk when you have giant monsters to carry you around? Amaryllis isn't a huge fan of the "save-people-without-getting-any-reward" shtick, so she decided to make her own reward by mugging the villains that she vanquished.

  • Noelani is the ghost of a (former?) superhero who currently haunts an apartment building. Invisible and intangible, physically incapable of leaving the apartment on her own, she still manages to carry on saving the world by possessing household objects and tossing them out the window. There are newspaper headlines on how a talking toaster managed to defeat a giant monster rampaging across the city.

By any chance am I breaking a pre-established canon? I'd hate to write ten pages of application only to realize that I messed up the story entirely.

All seem hilarious and cool, but the first seems to have the most ability to interact and mesh with the rest of the cast.

Also, I'm liking the influx of troubled kids that could go villainous. What direction do you plan to take Icarus, Zark?

I'm concerned about Cecil's power being balanced though, I know you mention it's inaccurate but premonition is always iffy. No real qualms regarding Amaryllis except maybe mentioning that she summoned a random powerful demon instead of the capital D Devil.

Believe me, I thought about that quite a bit -- which is why I let Cecil see the best possible outcome, as opposed to all the outcomes, their consequences, and how to obtain these outcomes.

It so happens that the best possible outcome often involves villains failing to arrive at all. As you might expect, it isn't too accurate.

Though I love Noelani, she's probably not too good for meshing and mashing. Nero's right.

Alright. Arrogant zealot it is. Assuming that nothing goes wrong, I should have the application up in about thirty minutes.

Well, he'll be a fledgling villain and recurring opponent to the Young Bloods for a while. I plan for him to eventually join their ranks after some character development, but that'll take time.

Ah, I see. We could have some interaction between Icarus and Karolyn as they seem to be headed down similar paths if you'd like.

Name: Cecil Calcaterra
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Race: Human

Appearance: This is actually one of his better days.

Young Blood: Yes.

Biography: wip

Powers:
  • [Precognition]: Rather, Cecil possesses a form of precognition that lets him know the best possible outcome of his actions. These typically show one of his immediate futures as opposed to something that may happen in decades.
  • [Peak Reflexes]: After years of intensive bullying from his peers, he eventually learned to predict the movements of kicks and punches, dodging them with relative ease.
  • [Visions]: Occuring suddenly and infrequently without any warning, these visions allow Cecil glimpses into the most perfect world attainable. Unlike in his precognition, he is never featured in it, which lead him to conclude that he will not get to see it within his lifetime.
  • [Psychic Immunity]: His mind cannot be read, damaged, or otherwise altered by psychic attacks. They tend to rebound on the user. Telepathy fails to work on him entirely.

Limitations:
  • [Only Human]: Even if he claims otherwise, he is still a human. Anything that would grievously injure a normal human being would do the same for him as well.
  • [Best Possible Future]: His precognition can only see the best possible future within twelve hours. The time limit does not apply to his visions. While it can give him some insight on other people, the best possible future almost always fails to actually happen. It's not very accurate.
  • [Lethargic]: His only ambition in life is to bring himself closer to this "most perfect possible world." He tends to oversleep and is generally unmotivated to take care of himself.

Weaknesses:
  • [Fainting]: Very infrequent, but it does happen -- mostly because of the sensory overload that his visions give him. He may remain unconscious from ten minutes to two hours, not responding to any external stimuli for that duration of time.
  • [Peanut Allergy]: If Cecil ingests anything that contains peanuts, he may go into anaphylactic shock and die without medical treatment. This was involved in a particularly cruel prank his sister played on him when he was a child. Even the smell of peanuts is enough to sicken him, though this is mostly psychological.
  • [Telekinetic Loopholes]: Cecil can't be directly lifted with telekinesis, but lifting the air around him accomplishes the same effect. This also works with the ground underneath him.
  • [Death Wish]: If the best possible outcome involves his death, then so be it. The only question is when. He doesn't strive towards losing his life, but he doesn't care to keep it either.

Likes: Philosophy, scarves, knitting, chess, chocolate, meat, sleeping, mathematics, sarcasm, the supernatural

Dislikes: Rudeness, brutes, gossip, cheese, pranks, alcohol, strenuous physical activity, people who make fun of his hobbies

Race Name: Loshiak

World of Origin: Jith

Territories: The planetary system of their homeworld, Jith.

Race Appearance: Similar to this, the Loshiak generally have humanoid top-halves, with little to no difference (varying between individuals). At the lower abdomen, the skin of a Loshiak transitoins into the fur of a horse, with the lower half of the body being a horse's. At the transition between skin and fur, there are long wings extending from the body.

Description/Lore: Magic has always played a large role in the history of the Loshiak; in fact, they are products of the powerful and mysterious force. Jith began as an inhospitable wasteland. It was an arid desert, with even no microscopic organisms hiding in the vast expanses of sand that encompassed the entire planet. It was looked over by all of the nearby alien empires; it was even used as a dumpster by some.

The fate of Jith, however, did not remain in the hands of other empires. A being from another realm saw through a tear between dimensions, and he looked through the outer layers of dust and disgust into the soul of the planet. He saw its potential, and made sure it lived up to it. He breathed life onto the desert, forming oceans and rivers, grass and trees. Over centuries he breathed out, forming more varied plant life and then primitive animals. At last, with his last of his life-giving breath, he formed beings, destined to become the masters of the planet, in his own image.

The first Loshiak formed one tribe, but it was hardly united; they were held together by a culture, language, and religion, but most members of the tribe did everything independently. The main tribe spread out across the entire planet over hundreds of years, splintering into thousands of different tribes. The only one thing that remained constant was the worship of the Thol, the god that had brought them into existence. Large groups working together was as rare as war was common. It seemed this age of war would never end, if it weren't for another outside influence.

The neighboring empires, which had previously scoffed at the very idea of Jith becoming home to an intelligent species, had finally noticed the slow rise of life on the planet. Having another powerful race to deal with was not on their bucket list; they sought to eliminate this potential threat before they had to mobilize a large force to take them down. Still, these neighbors underestimated the Loshiak. The Loshiak tribes at first independently fought against the invaders, bringing down as many as they could with lightning strikes and spears. That only brought very limited success. When united, however, the sheer numbers of the Loshiak allowed them to prevail. From the prisoners of war, the Loshiak, and their new leader, Grath, who had shown great power and strategy on the battlefield, stole weapons and armor and were able to hold off countless invasions, with each one only adding to their inventory. The Loshiak were even able to cross engineer weapons, adding to their prestige and power.

Loshiak civilization flourished because of war; stolen technology from alien invaders allowed them to realize the value of mining, and building. More armor was built until its quality eclipsed that of its neighbors; weapons too become more advanced. It took hundreds of years more of war for the Loshiak to finally defeat their neighbors; by that time, they were an unstoppable force. They began an empire of their own, taking control of their neighbors. They were harsh and cruel, bringers of death. It was only a matter of time before the empire failed, and fail it did.

Political trouble at home was the first sign of failure. Since the empire began, Grath and his descendants became monarchs, and, as always, there were problems in the line of succession. Twins had been born, and law dictated that there could only be one monarch. Civil war on the home planet did not bear well in the rest of the oppressed empire; the Loshiak lost all but one star system: their own. The bloody civil war ended with an armstice in order to save lives. The animosity between the two sides remains a powerful force, keeping the Loshiak from uniting once again.

Race Powers:
  • Pegataur Physiology: The Loshiak have the top half of a man and the bottom half of a pegasus. For a total of six limbs, they can use their hands and arms for much of the same capabilities as humans, although horse limbs are strictly limited to transportation. Wings too are limited to aerial transportation, allowing for long-term flight.
  • Limited Aerokinesis: Possibly due to their origin as magical creatures, the Loshiak can control some substances in a gaseous state. When flying, this is used to propel or direct them easily, but it also has combat capabilities. They can call down fog or push an enemy away.
  • Very, Very Limited Sorcery: Also due to their magical history, the Loshiak have an abundance of spellbooks and have a knack for being able to channel other-dimensional energy. However, these spells require memorization, and, due to the very recent civil war, there has not been much time for learning non-combat related spells.

Race Limitations:
  • The Loshiak cannot go for a couple days without flying, as the wings need to be used often. If they are not, they often lose a lot of feathers and lose their ability to fly.
  • The Loshiak cannot fly in space, or near the upper atmosphere as they require a substantial amount of air to be able to fly.
  • Constant, constant grooming. Much like shaving, the Loshiak must cut their tails or they get in the way of walking (a Herculean task considering how far back their tails are). Not only that, but they must also take care of their wings often, since feathers take a while to grow back. Shaving their fur is also a must, for convenience (as they will shed everywhere).
  • The Loshiak are very arrogant, moreso than even the most arrogant humans. Some would even go so far as to say it's build into their DNA. They believe they are the best at everything, and that they could never be bested in combat fairly. As a result, most would willingly do anything to prove themselves better than someone else.
  • As a result of the Loshiak's horse limbs, they are very skilled at walking/galloping across mostly flat areas. Anywhere else, is quite difficult. Getting them up stairs would be almost impossible without the use of their wings (which can't be used in an enclosed space).

Race Weaknesses:
  • Wings: The wings of the Loshiak are very delicate and must be taken care of. Tearing the wings off results in them never being able to fly again, and plucking feathers (instead of letting them fall out) results in them never growing back.
  • Water: In addition to the standard "they can't breathe in water", water is like the enemy of the Loshiak. They can drink water, but getting drenched in it is very unfortunate. Getting their fur wet makes it very difficult for them to fly (due to all of the extra weight); getting the wings extremely wet also prevents them from flying until they dry out enough. Water also somehow weakens, and if there's enough of it, disrupts the Loshiaks' connection to Thol's dimension, and prevents them from casting many or all spells until they dry out.
  • Sorcery: As stated before, most Loshiak (except for elders) do not know many spells, as the information has been fought over during the civil war. Many books were destroyed to prevent the other side from receiving them, although their natural affinity for magic means that there are still plenty of books. Still, finding a good source of information for spells is extremely difficult.

Name: Yierneg

Age: 24 Earth years

Gender: Male

Race: Loshiak

Appearance: Similar to this, Yierneg has silver skin and fur, with an intricate yellow tattoo, which symbolizes his royal lineage, going over much of his body. His wings are a pure white, another symbol of his royal ancestry; he must clean and groom it to keep it such a color, as he is very proud of it. Unike in the picture, his hair is brown, not gold, and his tail is the same silver color as his fur.

Young Blood?: No, due to his arrogance, he sees working with a team impractical and useless.

Bio: Yierneg was born as the third in his generation; therefore third in line to become king of the Loshiak. He was never able to fulfill that position, however, because the two in line in front of him were twin brothers. With the birth of those twins came the beginning of the end for the Loshiak Empire. Their father, the king, and their mother, the queen, were both young and wise. They were adored by the people and loved by the rest of the Empire. They were figureheads, yes, but also idols. Their deaths were quick and unexpected. During a trip to one of the farther ends of the Empire, they simply vanished, disappeared into the void of space. And with them went the knowledge of which of the twins was born first. Each believed they had a right to the throne; neither was willing to back down. Multiple discussions with the High Council went nowhere, and Yierneg knew nothing could possibly end well.

At the age of fifteen, Yierneg simply ran away. The arguments between brothers were getting heated; most of the High Council had been assassinated, and there was violence all over the planet. Yierneg had not once been consulted; most people had forgotten about him in the midst of the debate. But he was smart enough to know that things would not end well. He knew his best course of action was to hide away and wait everything out.

And wait he did. for years Yierneg hid, dying his fur and wings and covering every inch of his chrome skin and golden tattoos. Still, he was pegged as royalty often, and had to forge new identities. Meanwhile, war raged on between the two sides; every day casualty reports came back, and news about secession of every part of the Empire. Yierneg could not hide much longer; both sides had been searching for him, to bolster their reputation as the "real" king. He had to take action.

Yierneg knew the Empire was unsalvageable. Nothing could rebuilt it after all the strife. And so he journeyed to the Unknown Forests, and to the mountain in the center. It was a precarious journey, to say the least. He could only minimally use his wings, for he'd be seen. And horse legs do not work well with mountains. After days or arduous work, he finally made it to the peak, and into the Secret Vault inside. The minimal guards were easy to dispatch, since most experienced ones were off fighting. Inside were the Loshiaks' most treasured possessions.

In the center was a large statue of Thol, rumored to be infused with his magical abilities. Yierneg stared in wonder before snapping back to his mission. He gathered as many spellbooks and magical talismans as he could into a bag before the sounds of fighting outside disturbed him. His brothers had found him, and were trying to abduct him. Out of fear, Yiernerg began to run towards the statue. A stray projectile cut off the strap on his bag, and the spellbooks spilled out. He grabbed two of the spellbooks and three talismans before launching himself towards the statue and repeating a simple transportation spell that he had heard his parents use before. Combined with the coalesced magical energy of the statue, Yierneg was able to launch himself across the galaxy. He was pulled off course, to Earth, due to the dragon crystals (although he doesn't know it).

On Earth, he had to learn shapeshifting spells in order to hide his true form; even though aliens and magic and superhumans had been revealed, he could not show himself for fear of his brothers finding him. He currently hides out in the Canadian wilderness, improving his physical, mental, and spiritual health and skills.

Powers:
  • Loshiak Physiology: Yierneg has the abilities listed in the Loshiak app above.
  • Talisman of Invulnerability: This talisman allows Yierneg to spread a protective layer around his body, power by his will. This protective layer is unbreakable, but each attack on it weakens his willpower, and, if it is weakened enough, he can no longer hold it up. This protective layer must be consciously enabled. Any injuries sustained before it is put up are not healed, but they can no longer be damaged more by an outside influence. This talisman takes about half an hour to recharge. As per standard Loshiak weaknesses, this layer is greatly weakened or destroyed by excessive amounts of water.
  • Talisman of Anonymity: This talisman allows Yierneg to, effectively, disappear. Not only does he turn invisible, but he cannot be detected through hearing, smelling, touching, or any other sense. The only way for him to be found would be for a telepath to find his mind (or for him to be drenched in enough water to disrupt his magic). He can only stay in this state for ten minute increments, with ten minutes inbetween.
  • Talisman of Temporal Disruption: This talisman gives Yierneg the ability to temporarily slow down time. To others, he seems to be moving in superspeed, but, in reality, they are just moving slow. However, time is a very powerful force that must always move on, so Yierneg can only slow down time for a maximum of thirty seconds, usually less.
  • Sorcery: Much more advanced in sorcery than much of his race, Yierneg would still probably be considered a beginner in the magical arts. The only spells he has successfully mastered are illusion spells, which hide his true form.

Limitations:
  • Standard Loshiak limitations.
  • Although most of his race is condescending, Yierneg is even more so than most, due to his royal status. He sees himself as above all humans, super or not, magical or not.
  • As stated before, the duration of the talismans' power depends on Yierneg's will. He, as a result, does not have enough stamina to operate more than one talisman at a time.

Weaknesses:
  • Loshiak Physiology: Yierneg has all the weaknesses detailed in the Loshiak app above.
  • Talismans: Yierneg's talismans only work when he has physical contact with them, which is why he wears them around his neck. If someone were to take them, they would be able to use them if they knew how.

Likes: Himself, admiring himself, being himself

Dislikes: Being wet, cold, or hot

Additional Information

Birthday: November 12th

Favorite food: The corpses of those who have displeased him (just kidding, it's red velvet cake)

Greatest fear: Being shown up by someone

Apped here a little bit ago, not sure if anyone noticed.

I was thinking something like that. I see one, two, or both of the brothers to come after him as a traitor or something similar. If any other races app, an alien coalition invasion would be pretty epic.

Just realized that I forgot to mention that the "WIP" app was done... my bad...

Asterdan wrote:Yes, I know that the name is also the name of the costumed image I used. No, I do not care. It fits, and works with the backstory.

Name: Elias Ramsey aka Red Death
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Appearance (pics if possible):

Young Blood?: Y
Bio: Elias, often just called Eli, lived a rather normal life. He played youth league sports, had play dates, for all intents and purposes, Eli was an ordinary kid. Well, except for the fact that he could move at speeds so fast that he would appear as only a blur to the human eye. As he grew older and went through school, he used his speed to his advantage, becoming one of the best runners on the track team as well as a star football and basketball player. He never moved so fast that it appeared he had powers, but just fast enough to give himself an edge.

When he was fourteen, Elias decided to turn to vigilantism. He crafted himself a heat-resistant suit and began fighting petty crime, doing what he could to help out. He never tackled larger crimes, such as armed robbery, murder, etc. He left that to the professional heroes and law enforcement. He mostly stopped thieves and helped get cats out of trees. He was content with this arrangement, and continued helping out in little ways until he was sixteen.

During his patrols, he discovered his sister was missing. He raced across the city, trying to find her! Unfortunately, he found her just in time to see her throat slit. He had cried out in horror, seeing that much more had occurred while he was searching for her. In his anger, Elias snapped, using his speed to destroy every bone in the criminals body. After this he decided to take a much more... proactive approach to vigilantism, modifying his costume so that it would inflict fear in the hearts of criminals. Eventually, the criminal underworld began to call this 'red blur' the Red Death, and he took it on as his name.

Out of costume, he's still the charismatic, kind, sweet kid he had always been, though the pain of losing his sister is easily seen in his eyes. Once he dons the red cowl, he is merciless, always willing to fight for what's right. Over the last couple of months he has mellowed out. He is less likely to kill than he was, though he still considers it a valid option. He does still often beat criminals to a pulp.
Powers:
  • Super Speed: The ability to move at extraordinary physical speed.
  • Speed Lightning Manipulation: The ability to manipulate the lightning and electricity that he creates when he runs.

Limitations:
  • His enhanced speed also enhances his metabolism, so he must eat a lot.

Weaknesses:
  • Inferiority Complex: After the death of his sister, he began to feel like he wasn't good enough to be a hero. This can still be used against him.
  • Rage: His anger can easily be manipulated.

Likes: Food, Justice,Women, Football, Running
Dislikes: Injustice, criminals, dark chocolate.

Additional Information-
Birthday: June 2
Favorite food: Biscuits and Gravy
Greatest fear: Not being good enough.

Also, would it be okay to go ahead and app the Overseer/Emissary? I just wouldn't use him until later on.

That is helpful yes :p

I think the character is interesting and a good one to have, but I have two issues

1) The name sounds kind of harsh, just seems like it would be off for the style of the team

2) This really feels like a Flash Expy, there's nothing necessarily wrong with that, but I'd appreciate some unique element that sets him apart.

1) It's meant to be harsh, but I can change it.
2) It's based slightly (and by slightly I mean Codename and Appearance) on DC's Red Death, which is essentially if Batman stole Flash's speed force and became evil. I was just going to use the image and superspeed, but I just really love the name :p

I'm happy to change the name and change him up a tad bit if you would like.

Ya right now he is too much like an existing character for me to be comfortable. I suggest changing up the powers and fleshing out the backstory so it is more unique.

Ah, gotcha!

Can my planned villain have a slight history in the Warhounds? Basically, Ultra joined at 18 but at the start of the roleplay had left them after two years of service, intent on starting his own clique of villains. This would directly tie back to Karolyn being tempted to go down a villainous route as her and Ultra are internet friends, both having been prolific anti-heroism trolls across some forums. This would definitely make him an enemy of Warhound, however, as you can't exactly leave.

Yeah, I honestly had an idea for a speedster character named Comet who was more of a troubled youth than an outright villain or dedicated hero. Came from a foster homes and was turned loose at 18 to... rather little, and with little life skills to make it, s/he simply starts stealing to make ends meet and to keep themselves fed.

From my count, three or four already finished (out of 12 accepted characters), and another one in the works.

Alright, good to know. I'll watch how things progress and decide further into the RP if I want my character to eventually fall to the dark side. Don't want to be a villain if there's already a bunch of villains ya know.
