The Alydian Republic of Aramas
11 November 2017 - (8 years, 7 months, 3 weeks and 3 days since the start of the civil war)
The Current Conflict

Introduction
For 8 years a three-way conflict has raged in Aramas. The war has torn the country apart politically, economically and socially to the extent that the international community has began to look upon Aramas as a failed state. The war began as the authoritarian and religiously motivated government under the leadership of President-General Gelormo Muscat began to clamp down on pro-democracy protesters. After violent clashes between protesters and the military, opposition groups united to form 'The Free Republic of Aramas', declaring war on the Muscat government. Whilst opposition forces were initially small and poorly trained, a number of defections along with milita's trained in guerrilla warfare have seen the government pushed back on a number of occasions.

Meanwhile, tensions in the Abjad mountains, home to the country's Irsadic berber minority, have been on the rise. Whilst the Muscat government was initially able to maintain peace within the region through a small military presence and legislative exceptions for the population; seeing weakness in the government Irsadic insurgents are on the rise once more. Bolstered through support from nations such as Saraibia and Sudin, the so-called 'freedom fighters' have successfully pushed Aramasian forces from the Abjad region and even further toward the coast, destroying oil wells and infrastructure as they go. These insurgents known as the Nation of Irsad have been linked with terrorist groups such as the Army of Conquest and Jabhat ut-Tareeqa who have claimed responsibility for attacks across Asura and beyond.

Since 2009 whilst the government has seen a number of setbacks, with the opposition even launching a number of attacks on the capital of Sannat, the Free Republic is generally in retreat. Their territory is now generally isolated to the south-eastern border with Sheera, the northern border with Troping and several other pockets of operation dotted around the country. Nevertheless, rumours suggest that the opposition continues to be funded by the likes of Sheera and that the group may have even made appeals to the Commonwealth of Democratic Nations for material and financial support. On the other hand, the Irsadic insurgency remains strong within the Abjad mountains, waging a brutal campaign of guerrilla warfare which has taken its toll on the Muscat government. Despite being pushed back from the oil rich midlands, the Irsadic forces remain undeterred. Allegations suggest Irsadic forces have began utilising child soldiers; whilst the government continues with a strategy decried as 'genocidal' by the international community.

This is all going on against a backdrop of rising tensions with the two largest political blocs in Aeia, the Commonwealth of Democratic Nations and the Coalition of Sovereign States. Aramas has long been an enemy of Aquidneck, a key member of the CDN, with both nations feuding over the territory of Troping. Further tensions over the Torrosan coup d'etat and Johkan war look to make Aramas a potential future battleground in any conflict between both blocs. Moreover, despite the defeat of the more left-leaning factions during the First Cold War, the remaining 'communist' powers of Aeia should not be counted out of influencing the conflict. Radical Socialist influences in Sheera, Veleaz, Wallais, Karjarma, Ovandera and Faldarun could seemingly find its way into the conflict in support of the Aramasian communists, should Gabarettist influence wain within the Free Republic.

Now with the conflict once again reaching a stalemate the Aramasian government is looking to foreign support to end the war, once and for all...

Prologue
The evening was quiet, the private lodgings of the President lay somewhere to the south of Sannat, nobody quite knows exactly where, save the key higher-ups in the government and military.
The lodging was more of a compound than anything nice and cosy. Guards regularly patrolled outside the gates and within the grounds. An anti-aircraft gun was even located within the boundaries of the premises.
The gates were opened and in rolled a black luxury sedan, tinted windows, golden logo sparkling in the compound's light indicating the car to be of Midrasian origin, an Âge Renard.

Out stepped a man, curly hair sunglasses on (in the dark no less) adorned with military honours across his coat.
The man was Gelormo Muscat, President of the Alydian Republic of Aramas.
Quickly escorted inside, Muscat soon sat at his desk, taking a cigar out of his desk and lighting it, smoke filling the vicinity.
Muscat was soon joined by a small cohort of advisers, each carrying either a briefcase or pile of papers.
"Sir, we must talk about the current situation," chirped one adviser.
"What about it, I know we're at a damn stalemate, again! Those damn Irsadics, if only we could just get rid of them all!"
"Well, it would take a long time for our strategy to come to fruition sir. We already tried leniency, look where that got us."
"The opposition is on the run, if we focus on them first, we could then concentrate our forces on the insurgents," chimed in another of the advisers.
"And then what? What would be left of our country after that? We're already suffering, we haven't exported any oil for years!" Screamed Muscat. "The military or the people will have my head if I can't finish this soon."
"Perhaps there is an alternative then sir?"
"I know, I didn't want to have to do this, but now... I guess I have no choice."

"Let us hope it is the right decision," said Muscat, putting pen to paper. "Make sure this message reaches Torroso immediately."

Repubblika Alydjana tal-Aramas

To the most esteemed Consul Augustin Gessius,

I am writing to you personally regarding the current conflict within my country. Whilst my government's forces have been able to push back elements of the opposition, including the Insurgency located within the Abjad mountains, the situation remains perilous. Every day economic conditions deteriorate, we have not exported a single barrel of oil since 2012; infrastructural damage has limited the transport of foodstuffs and the Brush War in Kavo has only bolstered our enemies. Whispers within the military also talk of potential deposition of myself, a situation which would only worsen the current crisis. Foreign aid from Sheera and perhaps those within the Commonwealth of Democratic Nations only bolsters my enemies.

Thus, I am forced to ask your government and your allies for help. Our nations share common goals, threatened by the Imperialistic powers to the North. Aquidneck itself holds dominion over the rightful Aramasian territory of Fatimá, or as it is known to them, Troping. We must never forget the day that the Asuran powers gathered in their libraries and offices to carve up our beloved homelands between them. Should your nation aid is in our time of need, Aramas would be forever in your debt. You could count on our military contributing to the Coalition of Sovereign States and its struggle against Imperialism and Socialism. All I ask is that Torroso and its allies within the CSS provide my government with military and economic aid for the ongoing conflict. I do not wish for Aramas to become a battleground between the CSS and CDN however and as such would ask you to refrain from sending in professionally armed soldiers. However, we may discuss the deployment of Torrosan volunteers and militiamen at a later date if you wish to do so.
I thank you for your time.

Yours Faithfully,
Gelormo Muscat, President of Aramas.

Government Crackdowns on Protesters in Aramas

By: Aristo Scelfo
8 March, 2009

Image
Sannat, Aramas - Government forces under the command of President Gelormo Muscat have begun a brutal campaign to disperse and suppress pro-democracy protesters in the capital city of Sannat, Qala, and other major population centers throughout Aramas. The protesters had been calling on the Muscat government to have free and open elections. Aramas has seen ruled by a military dictator since 1974, with the current dictator taking power in 1989. Under Muscat's leadership the government and military of Aramas have becoming increasingly authoritarian and have dealt with dissension strictly.

Armed paramilitary police covered in riot gear and heavily armed marched into areas where the protests were taking place and began to detain and arrest protesters. Armored bulldozers drove through the streets of Sannat and brought down ramshackle fortifications constructed by the protesters. The police beat protesters and several people are thought to be dead as a result of the violent clashes.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says that it is watching the situation closely and "continues to urge President Muscat to make reforms to make Aramas a full democracy." The spokesperson for the ministry also said that the regime is "breaching the rights of the people and must immediately cease its violent and illegal actions." Aramas is a former colony of the Kingdom of Aquidneck and the two nations do not have a good relationship. The biggest issue between the two nations is the port city of Troping, home to over 50,000 Aquidish citizens. Aquidneck maintains control over the small Arabehki peninsula that juts into the Asur, but Aramas claims the land as its own. The Ministry of Defense has stated that it will be sending additional troops to the garrison in Troping to ensure its safety.

The Honorable Senator Caino Tammaro, Chairman of the Defense Committee
The Honorable Senator Otilia Peraino, Ranking Member of the Defense Committee
The Honorable Senator Martino Nini

Honorable Senators due to the similar timing and nature of your letters about the ongoing problems in Aramas and how that effects Troping we have decided to answer your inquiries in a single letter.

The situation in Aramas continues to grow more dire as the days drag on. The civil war in that nation between the three factions has gone on for over a year. Our analysts had expected the Muscat government to clamp down violently and suppress the pro-democracy demonstrators as they have done in the past. This time however, the Muscat regime acted too slowly and failed to round up all the leaders of the protests. These leaders of various pro-democracy and socialist factions came together in mid March and began to formally oppose the Muscat government. These opposition forces were soon joined by number of volunteers and some defectors from the military. Over time the group became more organized and fell under the leadership of the radical socialist, Indrija Darmenia. The Ufficio dell'Intelligence Militare says that it is this faction that controls the land the borders Troping.

Another faction has entered the civil war the Nation of Irsad, a radical Irsadi group, has declared war on the other factions and is carrying out a guerrilla war against the Muscat government. The NoI controls the Abjad mountain region and some of the surrounding area. As you are not doubt aware this group has been designated a terrorist organization by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

As of the 10th of June 2010 the Armed Forces of Aquidneck have taken no direct action for or against any of the factions fighting in the civil war. The current Royalist government has made it clear to the Defense Council that our armed forces are not to engage first. Though our forces have observed some fighting near the Troping border,
the factions have not engaged in any hostile activities directed towards the Troping or any Aquidish forces.

Despite that, several actions have been taken to increase the security of the Kingdom. There have been increased naval patrols of the waters between the Aquidish mainland and Aramas, particularly in the waters around Troping. The Navy has also stationed an additional 200 marines in the Troping Garrison to aid the 100 previously stationed. The regional Troping government is being updated with information around the clock and is working with the military to plan evacuation and other measures that might be needed in case of an attack on Troping.

It is the duty of the ministries to answer any questions that any Senator may have to better aid in their constitutional oversight responsibility. The Ministry of Defense takes this very seriously and will continue to answer questions in a timely and prompt manner. As always if you have any more questions please contact my office.

Nation of Irsad
It has come to our attention that the Nation of Irsad has solidified its control of the Abjad region. What started out as a small ragtag group of repressed Irsadi goat farmers has turned into a well equipped and efficient terrorist organization capable of defending the Abjad region from the Muscat regime and carry out terrorist attacks throughout Asura, Arabekh and the rest of Aeia.

It is believed that the NOI has received substantial material and finiancial support from the usual suspects. Saraibia, Sudin, and Sacemes (The 3S) have always funded Irsadi extremism throughout Aeia, and it is no different now. Most of the foreign fighters and material are brought in through Saraibia and funded by waelthy radical Irsadis from Sudin and Sacemes. Neither Sacemes or Sudin publicly support the Nation of Irsad, but our agents tell us that some elements in those governments are aiding the NOI. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is undertaking a diplomatic approach to see if these materials and funds can be restricted in someway, but our diplomatic relationships with these countries ranges from lukewarm (Sudin) to outright hostility (Saraibia).

The NOI is believed to be planning several attacks throughout Asura. Specific intelligence has been shared with the appropriate authorities in Newrey, Midrasia, Delfina, Glanodel, and Torroso.

Chemical Weapons
It has been confirmed that the Muscat Regime is in possession a large quantity of chemical weapons. Sarin gas is the most prevalent weapon and the regime is able to use its air force to launch sarin missiles at opposition factions. The regime has also produced artillery shells that can deliver the nerve agent. The regime has used these weapons with devastating effect first at the end of 2010 and as recently as two weeks ago.

It is unknown where Aramas got such a large amount of Sarin, as they are not capable of producing such an amount. The chemical warfare division of the Muscat Regime is incredibly well guarded and tight lipped. We will continue to work with our Asuran allies towards finding the sources of the gas.

The Kingdom of Aquidneck condemns in the strongest terms the use of chemical weapons by the Muscat Regime. These weapons of mass destruction are illegal and must be turned over to a third party at once in order for them to be destroyed in a safe and proper manner. The use of these weapons today by the Muscat Regime show the desperation of the military dictatorship to regain control of the moderate Aramas opposition. These weapons cause severe neurological damage to human beings and the survival rate of such weapons is low. If these weapons were to fall into the hands of the Nation of Irsad the ramifications would catastrophic, not only for Aramas but, for the wider world. The Kingdom of Aquidneck now once again calls on President Muscat to do the right thing and cease using these these horrific weapons immediately.

As mentioned in other reports previously supplies from Kavo and Nzotare continue to flow in to Aramas. The two nations continue to send supplies to the Muscat Regime to fight the other factions, particularly the Nation of Irsad. Nzotare in particular is committed to seeing the Nation of Irsad wiped out, and has secretly sent volunteers to fight against the Irsadic rebels.

Nzotare is dealing with Irsadic rebels in the northern part of that nation and some of those rebels have made their way to Aramas to fight. There is a clear link between the two organizations. Smugglers from Nzotare are helping in getting materials from Saraibia, Sacames, and Sudin into Aramas. The Foreign Ministry is attempting to work with the Nzoarean to stem the flow of smuggled people and war material but, so far has been stonewalled.

The Navy has increased patrols around the southern strait out of the Asur and the south coast of Arabekh in order to stop smugglers. They have caught several smugglers who have provided useful intelligence on the situation in the Muscat Regime and the Nation of Irsad, information on the Socialist faction has been harder to come by as they do not have any obvious outside help as of yet.

We continue to investigate the origin of the Sarin gas in Aramas. Our Asuran allies continue to aid us in the investigation, Newreyan intelligence has taken a leading role in the investigation.

Internal Memo - Ministry Use Only

If there is anyone worth supporting in this mess of a civil war it is, Ċensu Gabaretta. Gabaretta leads the approiately named Gabarettists, who fight in the coalition of democrat and socialist factions under Indrija Darmenia. Darmenia is a radical socialist whose feelings towards Aquidneck are not well known. We are in the same boat regarding Gabaretta and our intelligence agencies are working on getting a feel for their feelings towards the Kingdom, but we believe due to Gabaretta's more moderate democratic socialist views he would be the one to approach and possibly support. While he is currently working underneath Darmneia, he does hold considerable sway and commands a large wing within the opposition faction. The Opposition holds the area right outside Troping and depending on which faction is specifically holding that area we are in a good position to aid them. Of course, there would be some considerable opposition to this from the Senate and the Aquidish people, even from backbench members of our party. For now I recommend keeping open a line of communication through third party intermediaries and back channels.

Our work on attempting to stop the flow of money and war material across the Deromi Desert from 3S to NOI has been rather unsuccessful. The governments of Sacemes and Sudin are uninterested in our attempts to talk and we have no official diplomatic relations with Saraibia, so that has been a non-starter. Perhaps we should appeal to Midrasia or Rohst to apply some pressure? I will contact our embassies there and see what we can do.

Kavo and Nzotare continue to support the Muscat Regime, our navy has been a bit more successful in stopping smugglers from Nzotare, but our diplomatic efforts with the government of Nzotare has fallen through. Like Saraibia, we do not have formal diplomatic relations with Kavo. We have asked for Midrasian assistance in reaching out to them.

We have it on good authority that the APHO is going to be holding a press conference and release a report on the atrocities on all sides during the war in Aramas in a few months. This is expected to create some outrage among the citizens and maybe a stir in the Senate. Expect some letters from Senators trying to make a show of caring in the days following. I man it isn't like this has been going on for over four years at this point.

APHO Spokesperson:
"The actions of the government of Aramas in the Abjad Mountains, a region which has seen intense and sustained bombardment and fighting, is unacceptable and has no place in a civilized world. The tendencies of the military of Aramas to bomb Irsadi villages and towns in the region is bordering on genocidal. Their use of sarin gas as a weapon of war is unconscionable and must end immediately.

We call on all sides to agree to a ceasefire to allow for aid workers to get into the areas most deeply scarred by this war. Allow these brave volunteers to look after the civilian populations of these areas and give safe passage to those who would seek to leave these war zones. These innocent families have gone through enough trauma for the last almost 5 years and deserve a respite and a chance to find safe refuge.

We also call on all sides to end the use of child soldiers. The children of Aeia cannot be allowed to become warriors during their youth. These kids deserve the chance to grow up in a healthy and safe environment. It is shameful and heartbreaking that these children are taken from their families or often times orphaned and sent to the front lines of a battle of ideologies they know nothing about"

The Consulate of Torroso
Consulibus e Torra

To the faithful Gelormo Muscat,

I have been observing this conflict for some time and approached that coward Cornett about when the conflict arose. Originally, when I took power, I could not answer the call to assist you as I would need you to take initiative to request for my help. If I were to immediately jump in, our country would be ostracized by the community. I thank you for taking initiative.

However, in order for my assistance, I need your word that you will not betray the hand that fed you when this war is over. We have a future to write, and we do not need the Asurans writing it for us. We write our own destiny, and with this we deny the Asurans from entering our continent like they did throughout our history. At the moment, Torroso is able to establish a secure supply line from the Allessi oil reserves to the capital. The only problem that stands in our way directly is Aquidneck. I am sure they will either take a direct course of action or they will back a 'new' rebel group, if you know what I jest.

Your admission into the Coalition of Sovereign States is currently being discussed between member states. The problem with my intervention is that Torroso has a large backing, and so does the other side. I do not want to turn this into a cold war. Because of this, I will be supplying 'humanitarian units' your way. You will also need to notify your air forces that I will be using observation aircraft. Later on in the war, I will also be designating 'kill boxes', but this should be discussed between our military staff.

To note, your chemical weapons are not needed. Dispose of them immediately unless you want our cause to be crucified by the Asurans.

Signed,

The Nation of Irsad
12 November 2017 - (8 years, 7 months, 3 weeks and 4 days since the start of the civil war)
The Current Conflict

Introduction
The Abjad Mountains has always been Irsadic, at least since the Caliphate that is.
The land itself is harsh with steep cliffs and little in the way of arable land. Goat farmers are common in the area however almond, raisin and pomegranates are also grown, mostly on a subsistence level.
The fact that the region is home to an ethnic and religious minority has always made it difficult for the government in Sannat to control. Many times throughout history, the people of the Abjad Mountains rose up against their Christian overlords, most famously in 1512 when the 'White warrior' Razeen al-Salek drove back the Crusaders, dealing a decisive blow against the Alydians and paving the way for the Shushuntu and Torrosans to defeat what was known as the Aramasian Empire. Nevertheless, the Abjadians came under Aramasian rule once more, before being subjugated by the Aquidish who treated them no better.
Upon Aramasian independence the Abjadians once again sought their independence and after a brief armed struggle were granted considerable autonomy by President Benjamin Gabaretta. This peace would last until the military dictatorship took power, dissolving the Abjadian autonomous Republic, leading once again to war. The conflict was brutal, with the Aramasian military carrying out regular massacres at villages, killing all Abjadians in sight. Property was seized and handed to Alydian settlers, crops were burned and oil wells constructed on the land to line the pockets of elites.
Eventually this diabolical approach took its toll on the Aramasians. Sanctions and economic woes at home saw autonomy reinstated, for the time being.
The removal of Puli from power saw some efforts by Muscat to restrict the Abjad peoples, through the deployment of troops and the drilling of oil much further inland. Whilst a few skirmishes took place between the government and more radical Irsadic groups, the peace was generally maintained.
Back in 2009 with the government under pressure, facing political strife at home it was time to strike once more, and the people of the mountains once again took up arms to free their land. Yet whilst many fight under the banner of our region, its customs and people; others follow a more extreme path. Those under the influence of the so-called 'Sultan' Abdur Rasheed el-Suleiman speak of Jihad and war against the infidels in Sannat and beyond, an ideology which has found much popularity among the Abjadian youth. It helps little that this line of thinking is pushed by foreign backers in Saraibia, Sudin and Sacemes.
Yet, whilst the Free Republic maintains its retreat, the Abjad people stand strong and firm in their mountains, strewn with the blood of Muscat's forces at their base.

No one dares storm our fortress.

Dusk
The sun had settled down for the night, passing beyond the distant lands.
The rapture of gunfire had settled for now. The only lights visible were those off in the far distance and the night patrols who sought to keep watch on the mountain pass.
"Another quiet night," spoke Ahmed, taking a sip of his water. "Doesn't look like Muscat will be marching up here any time soon."
"After last time, i'm sure its the last thing he will want to do," replied Jafar, looking out into the night sky. "Still wonder if they have any drones up there, spying on us."
"Relax, government probably can't even afford drones they way it is now. Probably couldn't even afford a Great War bomber at this rate. You keeping watch out here tonight?"
"Yeah, Muhammad is giving another one of his speeches tonight, can't stand them myself."
"Tell me about it, it's all eternal jihad this, infidels at the gate that; when you and me, all we want is our damn land back."
"Yeah... guess it helps them get the money though, those religious nutters in Saraibia aren't exactly going to be interested in arming some backward militia in the middle of nowhere, unless it's for some apparent 'greater cause'."
At that moment a white robed man came walking up the pass, followed by a goat drawn cart. The two men stood to question the man.
"Salaam."
"Salaam," replied the robed man. "Would this be the camp of Mohammad el-Awan by any chance?"
"It might be," replied Ahmed. "That all depends what exactly you mean to trade."
"Oh nothing much, just some fruit to keep our men in the fight."
At this point Jafar slung his rifle over his shoulder, walking over to inspect the cart.
"Seems a little heavy for some simple fruit, what exactly did you say you had?"
"Pomegranates, yes that's it pomegranates!" said the robed man, looking increasingly sweaty.
"I'd check just to be sure," replied Ahmed. "There's something you're not telling us."
At this point Jafar took off the tarp covering the cart. Sure there were pomegranates, but some strange metal containers too.
"What exactly is this?" cried out Jafar.
"Shhh, shhh keep it down," replied the robed man, running over to the cart. "Look I wanted to keep this between me and Mohammed, he told me to keep this a secret."
"What exactly is this you're bringing in here," whispered Ahmed.
"A gift from our friends in Saraibia," replied the robed man.
"Sarin gas."

The Kingdom of Hipasia
ממלכת־חפּסיה
External Security Service
Report to HM Isaac II Hipasi and the Ministry of Defence : CONFIDENTIAL : 20XX/XX/XX

If you do not have Level 4 (Restricted) Access, stop reading immediately and return this document to a superior with Level 4 Access. Do not disclose the contents of this document to any individual without Level 4 Access.

This report concerns the involvement of Saraibia and Torroso in the Aramasian Civil War. It briefly outlines strategies which the Kingdom of Hipasia might take to minimise the effectiveness of these parties in providing support to parties whose interests are contrary to those of Hipasia, though further information will be provided in the document to be circulated over the coming days.

Saraibia: a supporter of Irsadic terrorism in Aramas and elsewhere

Our intelligence demonstrates that notable Saraibians with sympathies for radical Irsad have been providing financial and military aid to terrorist forces across the world, with a particular focus on the Nation of Irsad within the Abjad Mountains of Aramas. We know that Saraibian shipments primarily travel across the Deromi Desert, but in spite of suspicions we have not encountered any shipments moving through the Hipasian Southern Region. Reports show that the shipments are often moved by individual rather than groups, with the transporter disguised as a herder of goats.

We shall continue to monitor traffic in the Deromi Desert, but we do not favour the possibility of coordinating with Tarasanovia on this issue. In addition, overt deployment of soldiers outside the border would likely be a major concern for both Tarasanovia and Torroso. The deployment of deniable intelligence operatives, however, offers an opportunity to intercept these shipments. Not only would this deny the terrorists access to materials, it would also allow us to gain a better understanding of what capabilities these terrorists possess.

It is common knowledge that the Saraibian government sponsors terrorism, yet the international community remains passive. We suggest a more forceful push internationally towards action on the Saraibia issue, with the possibility of a military intervention should diplomatic options fail. Onza specifically, and the CDN generally, could prove useful on this front as an ad hoc ally. We must, of course, be sure to not alarm our friends in Veleaz.

We do not necessarily advocate military involvement in Aramas to combat the Nation of Irsad, on account of the Torrosoan involvement there which we will now discuss.

Torroso: a supporter of tyrannical government and genocide in Aramas

The Air Force has reported multiple military planes moving from Torrosoan air fields towards Aramas. We must conclude from this that the Torrosoan Air Force has begun mobilisation in Aramas. As of yet, we do not have any confirmed reports that they have been engaged in bombing missions there, but this possibility cannot be ruled out.

We have unconfirmed reports that Torroso has been supplying the government of Aramas with materials, but for now this remains unconfirmed. We shall endeavour to gather more information on this and update as soon as possible. Attempting to move the navy into a reconnaissance position could be viewed as an act of aggression, so we will instead pursue foreign intelligence leads, mainly in Aquidneck.

Torroso poses a stumbling block to any effort to combat radical Irsadism. They continue to view Hipasians as Asuran invader-colonials, and any attempt to use our military risks escalation of already sour relations. In addition, their support for the Muscat government is at odds with Hipasian interests, which would favour the opposition (NB: Veleaz presumably supports the socialist factions in the opposition, but there has been little input from the Veleazians as yet). Lastly, their quarrels with Aquidneck make the Strait tactically problematic for the present time.

Direct confrontation with Torroso or their allies must be avoided at all costs, but where we are able to use our strength to undermine Torrosoan interests without risking escalation, we would be wise to do so. Deniable operations and diplomatic coercion are the most prominent options in this regard.

Top Secret

The situation in Aramas is shaping up to be a war of attrition. The three sides appear to be at a stalemate with no one seeming to advance very far in any direction. The Free Aramas opposition has taken control of the northern part of the country that borders around Troping and the South East part bordering the north of Kavo. the Nation of Iras continues to hold on to the Abjad mountain region in the South West. The Muscat regime is in control of the rest of the country.

The use of sarin gas by the Muscat regime has slowed done some, probably due to international pressure. Muscat does not want the civil war to be intruded on by anyone at this stage, though he is getting some help from his southern neighbors Kavo and Nzotare. No other nation has publicly announced support for any of the three other factions, though 3S continue to support NOI financially and materially. Abdur Rasheed el-Suleiman has emerged as the leader of the NOI, though we are unable to get an exact location on where exactly in Abjad he is.

Regarding the opposition our agents have been able to get a read on them in regards to the Kingdom. Indrija Darmenia and her more left wing socialist and communist followers are a no go. They are opposed to anyone not matching their ideology especially Asurans, who they view as imperialists. The Gabarettists, are more inclined to democracy and like all everyone in Aramas they view Troping as part of Aramas, they would be more open to down playing that and be focused on the other more pressing issues facing Aramas. The UIM is working on establishing some links with the Gabarettists in case the government should wish to support them in the future.

We continue to work with our Asuran allies on the issues in Aramas. We will also reach out to the Onzians and try to get their support in this matter.

Humanitarian crisis grows as civil war in Aramas drags on

By: Aristo Scelfo
15 March, 2015

Troping, Aquidneck - The Civil War in Aramas has been raging on for six years as of yesterday and it is showing no signs of ending any time soon. The three factions appear to be in a stalemate situation. While the three sides go back and forth there is little movement in terms of control. Instead what is happening is that civilians are being caught up in the fighting. Thousands of Aramasians are fleeing the country, however there isn't very many places to go.

IF they attempt to go South the just end up being caught in the Fourth Bush War that is raging in Kavo, which is just as brutal as the Civil War in Aramas. Many who attempt this option try to get to the coastal cities and take a boat across the strait in a desperate attempt to get into Sudin. Those who try to flee to the West are met with oppressive desert and Torrosian border guards who more often than not, turn them back into Aramas. Other flee North into the Asur is an attempt to get into Asura. The navy and royal police are overwhelmed with refugee boats carries dozens of people attempting to make it across the Asur and into mainland Aquidneck. The city of Perino, located across the strait from Troping, has taken in hundreds of refugees but the President of the Rosina County Council has been quoted saying that they can no longer afford to help these refugees with out more money from the national government.

The Senate is working on getting more money for the counties hit hardest by the refugee crisis, but it is slow moving. Many senators in the conservative Royalist Party are calling on other nations such as Delfina and Midrasia to take some of the refugees in. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs told us that they are working with their counterparts from across Asura to get help in settling refugees.

Though it is uncertain what will happen to the refugees in Aquidneck, at least they are alive. Many of their families and friends have perished in the dangerous trip across the Asur, and others have died in the crossfire of the civil war. The Aeian Public Health Organization estimates that thousands of civilians are dead at the hands of the three factions.

Kingdom of Aquidneck

Ministry of Foreign Affairs

25 May 2017

The Kingdom of Aquidneck after repeated bilateral and multilateral diplomatic attempts to avoid doing so, has officially sanctioned the Emirate of Sacemes for its governments willful ignorance of certain sectors of the Sacemite government and civil societies support for the Irsadic terrorist group, the Nation of Irsad. The NOI has been responsible for many horrific and brutal attacks during the Aramas Civil War. The war, which has gone on for over eight years now, has been prolonged needlessly by the financial and material support that the Emirate has provided to this terrorist faction.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has joined over a dozen other nations in categorizing the Nation of Irsad as a terrorist organization. They have links to other terrorist organizations across Majula, Asura, Vestrim, and Arabekh. They are also thought to be directly responsible for several attacks in Asura and are known to be responsible for the deaths of hundreds of civilians in Aramas. The Emirate is joined in its support of NOI by Saraibia. Sanctions against Saraibia are ongoing and will continue until such time as a legitimate government is formed there.

The Ufficio dell'Intelligence Militare has provided significant intelligence to the cabinet and the senate showing the clear links between parts of the Sacemite government and the Nation of Irsad. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been working diplomatically in Sacemes City to stop the flow of support and get Sacemes to do the right thing. These attempts have lead to very little being changed in Sacemes and so we have no choice but to enforce sanctions. Prime Minister Ruperto Petrillo is in agreement with Foreign Minister Remo Mattei that Sacemes will be subject to sanctions on military equipment, agricultural products, financial services, and many other goods and services. In accordance with the Sanctions and Embargoes Act of 1998, the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister have signed off on the necessary paperwork to approve the sanctions that are set to begin immediately. In accordance with the act, the Senate will have a chance to review and remove the sanctions in six months, but we are confident that they will agree with the ministry's assessment of the situation. The Kingdom of Aquidneck is joined by the Rohst, Navack, and others in imposing and enforcing these sanctions.

29/03/13 - Sacemite Government revealed to be funding Irsadist rebels in Aramas

While it has been known by many in the West that the government of Sacemes, frequently criticised for its human rights abuses, particularly concerning its labour laws and strict religious law codes, may be funding Irsadist terrorism worldwide, evidence has come in the form of a document leakage over the past 24 hours.

Anonymous hackers, whose IP was traced to an internet café in Costapunente, Isolaprugna, have posted up a repository of information from the Sacemite government's computers. While most of it concerned the daily runnings of the Majulan city-state, one of the documents that leaked which sparked the interest of many around the world was an invoice of 250 million Sacemite Dinars towards the Nation of Irsad, a group fighting in the Aramasian civil war which is condemned by many governments, including Crylante's, as a terrorist group.

Many have expressed outrage at this act. The Sacemite People's Party, an organisation formed as a political party campaigning for liberal democracy in Sacemes in 2007 and banned in 2011, having moved to Nebligen, Crylante, has made criticisms online, declaring its frustration at the government's use of money.

Top Secret

17 November 2017

Sarin Gas Investigation
Sources working within the Terncan financial system have confirmed to our agents the existence of payments from the Muscat regime to the Newreyan government in 2005 for the sarin gas that the regime has been using in the Aramas Civil War. We have confirmed that the Newreyan government knowingly sold the chemical to the Muscat regime fully aware of the regimes hostility towards Aquidneck and its people. The Newreyen government through its intelligence agency, has deliberately sought out a leading role in the sarin gas investigation in order to deceive us and our allies and obfuscate the agents investigating the source of the gas. The highest levels of the Newreyan government were involved in this campaign, and we believe that the Prime Minister of Newrey, Sir Raymond Holt, was regularly updated about the attempts to hide the investigation.

We can confirm that the Newrey government sold 11 tons of Sarin Gas to for over 120 million shillings to the Muscat government. In addition to the gas, we can also confirm that the Newreyan government sold guns to the Muscat military. The Newreyan government ceased these sales once the Civil War started, however they carried them out for at least a decade, propably longer, knowing that the Muscat regime was hostile to Aquidneck and claimed the overseas region of Troping as their own.

Director of UIM resigns

By: Aristo Scelfo
18 November, 2017

Torden, Aquidneck - The longtime Director of the Ufficio dell'Intelligence Militare (UIM), Bonito Silvano, resigned late last night. Prime Minister Ruperto Petrillo is said to have accepted the resignation in person and has yet to issue a formal statement on the matter. Silvano has been the Director of UIM for the last decade, he is seen by many within the intelligence community to be an upstanding director who has lead the agency well. Silvano has lead the agency through several different administrations and has been praised for managing to keep the agency out of politics. A spokesperson for the UIM said that the former director had stepped down to be with his family and thanked Silvano for is decades of public service.

Senators from across the political spectrum are shocked by the sudden departure of Silvano. Senator Sicuro Catto of the Liberal Party said, "It is odd that no prior indication was given about this resignation. Nevertheless I wish him the best and I thank him for all he has done for this country." Senator Elio Monti of the Royalist Party wanted answers, saying, "What happened? Clearly something happened that sparked this. People don't just resign out of the blue like that. I think the cabinet needs to let us know."

The Prime Minister's Office said it would ask the King to convene a meeting of the Private Committee of the Accession Council today to inform its members, which includes the leaders of the parties in the senate, the cabinet, military leaders, and others, of what happened.

The Free Republic of Aramas
18 November 2017 - (8 years, 8 months and 4 days since the start of the civil war)
The Current Conflict

Sandstorm
A bunker somewhere in northern Aramas...

"Sir the situation is looking increasingly bleak. They have our forces on the run in multiple locations in the west."
"I know, we just have to hold out a little longer though. I have a few friends who will be returning favours shortly." The man speaking was Indrija Darmenia. A stern faced man, barrel chested, built like a bull.
The man commanded a strange sense of authority wherever he went, his troops looking up to him in that strange way that you can't quite pin down whether it is fear or respect that keeps them in line.
"What friends?" Asked the second man, rifle in hand, mouth covered with a scarf, uniform covered with dust from the raging storm outside.
"Let's just say my contacts pulled through. I have people I know, in Ovandera, Faldarun, Veleaz. Hopefully they can break some supplies through."
"They better get here soon, some of those places are half way across the world. And I'm sure the Gabarettists won't be too happy you're dealing with that lot."
"Screw the Gabarettists, what do they know, clinging to some bygone age. We are the future of Aramas."
The storm began to intensify outside, the rattle of fence could now be heard throughout much of the bunker.
"Damn this storm is getting bad," said the second man. "It better clear in time for our operation tonight."
"If it doesn't we'll still have to carry it out, there is no way I am letting my forces stand in this position whilst Torrosan volunteers descend on us like jackals."
Shouting could now be heard from outside, the patrol guards on the move.
"What's got them all riled up?" Asked the second man.
"Go check it out now!" Demanded Darmenia. "They better not have found our position already."
The second man left, cocking his rifle as he left the bunker.
Darmenia then set about gathering his things, if it was the government or Torrosans he had to be prepared, he gathered his backpack, placing his maps and documents within.

Then the gunfire started.
Explosions outside.
They had found them.
One landed close to the bunker, shattering the window.
"We're on the move, looks like Mike Golf has found our position, over," said Darmenia radioing ahead to the Gabarettists camped fifty miles west.
As he went to leave however he felt something....something...strange.
His nose began to run.
His chest constricted.
He could barely breath.
Darmenia began to choke, his muscles in spasm.
He barely made it outside, the sandstorm beating against his eyes.
His men lay dead around him.
They had came, Muscat's troops, armed to the teeth with new weaponry. The troops walked over the site surveying the dead.
Their gas masks covering any humanity they had left beneath.

Westward
It was midnight when they heard the news of the attack.
A devastating blow.
In one fell swoop the Muscat government had put its friendships abroad to good use and decapitated the Free Republic's leadership.
Darmenia lay dead, and so the leadership passed to Ċensu Gabaretta, nephew to the almost god-like Benjamin Gabaretta.
Gabaretta's Aramas had long since departed this world however.

"Sir, how do we wish to proceed?" asked the assistant.
"I feel it is time we make some friends of our own."
"Are you sure sir? They Communist Party will be none too pleased."
"Let them bark, they had their chance, and yet they did nothing," spoke Gabaretta.

"Now its my turn."

To the most esteemed leaders of the Commonwealth of Democratic Nations

I am writing to you in this difficult time about the situation in my homeland. For eight years our people have suffered untold misery.
War, famine and destruction are all that the children of Aramas grow up knowing today. I am asking for your assistance.
Whatever you can spare, be it food, supplies, weapons or troops. We are desperate.
I know our peoples have not been on the best of terms throughout our respective histories, but today I ask that we put these issues aside and focus on what really matters.
Gelormo Muscat is a vile human being. A murderer and a war criminal. Every day he retains the presidency of Aramas is another day the people suffer.
Not only that, but he plans on marching the troops of Torroso and Volgaria up to the gates of Asura.
I am sure that is something none of us want.
And so I ask you one final time to aid us in this crisis. The sons and daughters of Aramas will not forget how you helped us in our time of need.

Yours Faithfully,
Ċensu Gabaretta
Provisional President of Free Aramas.

Meeting room
Sahabet, Saraibia

Tareef Khalili, the government appointed head Imam of Saraibia, stood by the window whilst President Ismael paced around the room. His white beard would gently bob whenever he spoke to the de facto leader of Saraibia.
"The... situation in Aramas is escalating more quickly than what the Generalissimo expected. While the infidel fritter amongst themselves in civil conflict, support for the jihadis in the Abjad region has grown threefold following our imams' good work."
"And the international community will point fingers at us, no doubt, for causing 'further unrest.'"
"Surely, but it is Allah's will that they do not move against us."
"They plot it, however. The Generalissimo told me that the Torrosans have moved against the Democratic forces, and that many of our fighters have relocated to Abjad to assist the locals in their conquest. He also suggested that our 'gifts' made it to their planned destinations, yes?"
"They did. Allah wills it."
"Allah wills it. We shall see if you plan comes to fruitition, good Imam."

---

Sannat, Capital of Aramas

Young Rajeed knew his holy mission and he knew it well. The passed month praying, fasting, and speaking with the preachers from his homeland, the ones that had so often visited Mohammed's camp. It was imam Abdul that suggested this quest for him, and he knew in his bones he had to accept. It is not every day the lord gives one a divine quest, after all.

He entered the Parliament building just as imam Abdul had instructed him to do. He studied the layout well, zipping through doors and hallways before anyone could stop him. Some just assumed him to be an intern, based on his age how swiftly he moved through the building. When he arrived at the large doors leading to the council chambers, he took a large breath and pushed them open.

Many mid-ranking government officials were present at the time, and cameras were present, recording their discussion and debate over response to recent gains made both in the Abjad mountains and in the south against rebel forces. A soldier, armed to the teeth, approached the lad who had just entered the room. Seeing the main approach caused Rajeed to sprint to the centre of the room, spin around, and look directly at the cameras broadcasting his soon-to-be martyrdom. He ripped off his jacket, revealing the sarin canister strapped to his chest. The guard stopped, seemingly in shock. All in the room watched the fourteen year old boy standing before them.

Finally, he yelled.

"ALLAHU ACKBAR! ALLAHU ACKBAR!"

He activated the detonator held in his clenched fist. The canister on his chest began to squeal and hiss, then with a loud pop, colourless gas filled the room and lungs of all those present. Aloysius Muscat, cousin to the "beloved" dictator of the land, was present. He was the third to collapse to the floor, frothing at the mouth and grasping at his throat. Everyone in the room died that day, as did most of the workers present throughout the parliament building. The worst part about the attack, was that the cameras were all left untouched and undamaged; there was a crystal clear recording of the events that happened today for all of the world to see.

The Kingdom of Volgaria
Das Königreich von Volgaria

To the most honorable Gelormo Muscat,

I have seen for a long 8 years the damage this conflict has laid down upon your nation and people. With the recent conflict in Rhuritania and the rising tension between the Asurans and the Coalition of Sovereign States, I have overlooked your dire situation. But today, I am ecstatic to announce to you that Volgaria pledges it's support for your cause.

We will be happy to send assistance in any form. Be it airstrikes or military personnel. Immediate shipments of firearms, ammunition, vehicles and food will begin at the moment of your request and will be on standby until then. Luftwaffe strategic bombers stationed in Torroso will also be available to eradicate Irsadist and Communist positions at your command. With the Asurans at your doorstep however, sending this aid might become difficult if they choose to fund the communist terrorists.

Regarding your admittance into the Coalition of Sovereign States, myself and the other members have come to the conclusion that we would be glad to accept Aramas into the alliance and look forward to your future integration.

Sincerely,

The Kingdom of Hipasia
ממלכת־חפּסיה
External Security Service
Report to HM Isaac II Hipasi and select officials : CONFIDENTIAL : 20XX/XX/XX

This report is not to be removed from the ESS Senior Command Briefing Room. Its contents are not to be discussed beyond this room.

This report contains supplementary materials A01 through B02 which are relevant to the discussion today concerning the covert deployment of deniable military personnel to Aramas.

A01: The decision to intervene

With recent reports indicating that Newrey has been involved in the sale of sarin gas to the government of Aramas in contravention of its responsibilities not only as a CDN member, but as the current commander of the Drago Entente, we can no longer count on the Commonwealth of Democratic Nations to involve themselves militarily in Aramas. That left unchecked, we would be presented with a situation in which the Muscat government receives open aid from Torroso and Volgaria, the Nation of Irsad receives unspoken aid from Saraibia and Sacemes, but the opposition forces receive no aid. As a result of this it behoves some nation to provide aid to that opposition.

Additionally, we have evidence which has surfaced in the last twenty-four hours that the far-left factions in the opposition have suffered a major defeat at the hand of the military. We shall continue to dig up information on what this actually entailed. Regardless, this poses an interesting situation for Hipasia - we no longer risk upsetting our allies in Veleaz by sidelining those far-left factions, since they are now far less relevant. Supporting the more moderate Gabarettist elements of the Free Republic is therefore possible without this problem to overcome.

A preceding document with which you should all be familiar with mentioned the possibility of using deniable military personnel to aid the opposition. Following a clandestine meeting between His Majesty the King, the Prime Minister, the Minster of Defence and the Director of the ESS yesterday, it was decided that this represents the best course of action for Hipasia to take in this conflict.

A02: The region of deployment

As we are well aware of Torrosoan support for the Muscat regime and since we expect similar support from Volgaria soon, we have chosen to focus our efforts on combating the threat posed by the Nation of Irsad (NoI) to the Free Republic (FRA) forces in order to minimise the risk of conflict with Torrosoan and Volgarian forces. The NoI operates primarily out of the Abjad Mountains, which do not border any areas securely held by the FRA. Nonetheless, they attack the FSA with no less viciousness than the Army, mainly in the south of Aramas.

As a result, out forces shall travel covertly though Asura, travel south from Aquidneck across the Asur, pass through Sheeran territory and meet with military representatives of the FRA in southeastern Aramas. From there, they shall travel to the western edge of FRA territory in the south of the country and join with FRA fighters there. They shall be used in FRA operations targeting the NoI but shall not, for the foreseeable future, engage in combat against Army forces.

B01: Deniability

Of the hundred and twelve military personnel we are deploying to aid the FRA, every one has been selected based on testimony from their commanding officers that they can be considered trustworthy. They have all signed disclaimers to the effect that should they suggest that the Hipasian government is involved in Aramas, they will be liable to military trial and conviction for treason. The Hipasian government may therefore deny all knowledge of these soldiers' actions.

We can confirm that none of the soldiers will be leaving Hipasia with any identifiable items on their persons. All military identification is securely stored, and they have been supplied with false identities and passports. While in Aramas, they are not to speak Mashahith or Mzincu in public, instead communicating in Midrasian.

In the event that any soldier is captured, we will treat their repatriation as low-priority. Throughout the process of negotiation, the shall be treated as civilians whose decision to fight in Aramas was not government-sanctioned. Throughout the process, their captors shall be told that they will be tried as possible terrorists in Hipasia.

B02: The possibility of further deployment

We have not yet made any decisions with regards to the deployment of deniable ESS operatives in the Deromi Desert outside of Hipasia. We shall not reiterate what has been said of this issue previously. However, there are considerations to be made in light of our intervention in Aramas.

If we truly aim to damage the Nation of Irsad, it makes sense to target their supply lines. If we can coordinate with the Aramasian government and its allies to hunt for weapons shipments south of Hipasia, then that would benefit us as we would not have to worry about deniability (of course, we must not reveal the true extent of our involvement in Aramas). Failing that, however, we may use more deniable agents. Any contact with local civilians will have to be formed new, as we lack informants in the Deromi outside Hipasia.

If terrorists of the Nation of Irsad were to discover the identities of our troops in Aramas, we must expect that they would become involved in terror attacks in Hipasia. As a result, intercepting supplies will deprive the NoI not only of weapons which they might use in Aramas, but with which they might also attack Hipasian civilians. Any changes we must make to border security as a result of this will be discussed in a future meeting.

House of Assembly, Üden: 2017 November 20
Esen Üreg was by no means a tall man, nor was he imposing. His white hair was parted and well groomed, his eyes still holding the twinkle of a man much younger, prominent Yidao features and eyes obvious on his face. Yet despite his small stature, and the appearance of a good natured grandfather, his demeanour demanded attention. It was the confidence with which he carried himself, with a voice a soothing baritone that could both dominate and calm a room. The First Minister of Volghar had gotten to his position through backroom politics and sheer charisma, and he was determined to hold it.

“It’s ludicrous to involve ourselves in a war that is occurring halfway across the globe in some forsaken desert,” Peter Khaaçi-William, a Liberty MA, adressed the house, “it doesn’t concern us nor will it. If Torosso wants to send help to a neighbour, by all means let them, but being a part of this Coalition that the government has had us join does not mean helping them in all their foolhardy ventures.”

There was a chorus of agreement from many of the assembled politicians, it seemed that the man had gathered a fair bit of support from the Liberty and Socialist factions. Non-involvement in the war was of course a major platform for the two left-wing parties.

Üreg arose from his seat and approached the centre of the room, to which the speaker announced “The First Minister has the floor.”

Once he was comfortably standing before the podium, the older man made contact with the Liberty delegate, “Thank you for your passion, Mr. Khaaçi-William, I am emboldened to know that the cause for peace holds true in your heart. And it is a noble goal, please do not be mistaken by my words, I am not here to argue with you nor to shout ideas to this chamber about the glory of our allies or our own. I know that peace is a plentiful quantity, and for that I am thankful, as I am sure you are back home in Ghayu.

I, like so very few of you gathered here today, remember the Republic. I grew up under the Terncan boot in that failed state. Whilst it is all well and good to pretend that those days are behind us, it was not too long ago that our nation was carved into two. One held by the Newreyans, and another held by the Socialist Union. And whilst they had their own reasons for it, if it weren’t for the Newreyans, the whole nation may have fallen to the Union. Today, we may just be another province of Ternca, or a failed state like Veleaz. If we were lucky perhaps, we may have ended up like Malban, prosperous but scarred.

What I wish to ask the house, is where the international community was when the Terncans pushed over the northern border? Where were they when Laaçenci was pillaged and burnt? Where were they when decades of communist rule nearly destroyed the north and famine plagued us?

Aramas stands on a knife’s edge, we can pretend that Gabaretta wasn’t a lackey and lieutenant to a man who wanted nothing more than to turn Aramas into another version of the Republic that starved our people in the north. We can pretend that the so called “Free Army” aren’t communists who wish to induce famine upon their nation. We can pretend that the Nation of Irsad are not using child soldiers to bomb civilians with bioweapons. We can turn a blind eye and enjoy our hard earnt and well-deserved peace. And truthfully, it does not concern us what happens in Aramas. But it does concern human decency.

If the international community had not stayed silent on our night of terror, who knows what untold pain could’ve been saved. We cannot allow Volghar to remain silent on this night of terror, we cannot allow terrorists and dogs beholden to failed ideals to unleash further destruction upon the world. Volghar turned to the world and asked for help, and none came. It is time for us to be that help now that we are able.”

Volgaryn Gegeersen Khaant Uls

To the venerable Gelormo Muscat,

I hope that this letter finds both you and your people in good faith and health. It is with a heavy heart that the news of the conflict within your nation has reached me. As such, the Enlightened Khanate has decided to pledge our support to your cause, as per our agreements with the other nations within the Coalition of Sovereign States.

We are prepared to ship military advisers and shipments of humanitarian aid and resources upon your request, however Volghari military personnel and equipment shall not be deployed to Arabekh unless you specifically request as such.

We are also willing to grant you economic aid in the form of either short or long term loans with reduced interest rates given the dire circumstances that these terrorists have plunged Aramas into. Volghar stands united with you in the fight against insurgency and communism.

A thousand blessings,
Altanjin Veçuyev, Sixth Khan of the Enlightened Khanate of Volghar

Megastar Collab: #GunsOutForAramas

Earlier today, musicians Nakamo Sandu and Mato Watakpe announced their intention to perform charity concerts in support of the Free Republic of Aramas. Sandu and Watakpe have stated that their concerts will forego the usual admission fee in lieu of a material or financial donation. According to a new website linked by the musicians on Chirper (GunsOutForAramas.com), donated items can include firearms, canned goods, bottled water, medical supplies, and clothing. Sandu, who has been openly critical of Aramasian leader Gelormo Muscat on Chirper, had this to say about his efforts:
Image
Nakamo Sandu

"We're just over it. It's been 8 years and all the Aramasian people have gotten is lip service from politicians who are too busy scratching each others' backs to actually do anything. And they can't say they're doing anything when the death toll is so high. There's just a point, you know? There's a line where it's not business as usual. With so many dead bodies and broken families, it's blood on their hands, and we're done with it. If they won't do it, we will."

Watakpe, who is currently on tour for his most recent album, agreed with Sandu's comments:
Image
Mato Watakpe

"It's just time for someone to do something. People are asking for the right to vote, and they get gassed like bugs? It's a dictator killing his own people in the name of oppression. Where are the policians who got elected for saying they'd fight for freedom? So if the CDN won't do it, we will. You can say a lot of things about TKae, but you can't say we bitch out when freedom is being attacked. We jump in the way of every bullet to save it. We put our hearts and souls into raising it up and carrying it forward. It's about time we put our weight behind a people who have shed enough blood to earn it."

Congressional Delegate Kaya Lungu made the following comments about the announcement:

"I think it's great what they're doing. Let this show the world that TKaeans are much more concerned and involved than many people give us credit for. It also shows that governments don't get things done: people do. Individuals who see a problem and take the initiative using the resources at hand. Look at how many governments and politicians are standing by with excuses. This is a great opportunity to show that freedom begets freedom when people have the liberty to see their ideals realized. So I, along with many other delegates I've spoken with today, planning on making a personal contribution to the cause as private citizens."

When asked about his plans for the donations, Sandu admitted that the idea is a work in progress:

"Sure, there are some logistic issues. We have no intention of supporting Muscat, and that closes some doors with people who could help us on the ground. They're still holding onto the pipedream of a ceasefire, yet neither side can agree on whether Muscat should stay or go. I don't know anybody in TKae who would give anything other than a bullet in the head to someone who gasses his people just because they want to be free. So when people don't want to openly commit to getting rid of Muscat, that limits us a bit. But we're figuring it out. There are viable paths forward that we've identified, and we're in the process of making them real. So things are happening. There's a clear plan for this."

At the time of this article's posting (Nov 21 2017, 7:43 p.m.) the hashtag #GunsOutForAramas has been retweeted over one million times, making it one of the most retweeted hashtags of the year in TKae. A second hashtag, #IDonated, has begun trending as of 3:23 p.m., with over 500,000 Chirpers claiming to have donated to the website.

UPDATE:

Since the posting of this article, Nakamo Sandu Chirped the following:

The Socialist Republic of Dreyvisevich

External Matters of State Importance

To: Ċensu Gabaretta

Firstly, a congratulations on your new position. Now that formalities are out of the way, Dreyvisevich would like to extend a hand of trust in these troubled times. We have a proposal for you, Provisional President of Free Aramas. Of course, your men are weary and the enemy only grows in number. But we are willing to send aid to your forces without delay. No, this is not just a political play: Many do not see your system as the true government of Aramas and would see us in a bad light for assisting you against their treacherous plays. We risk reputation for you comrade, but do not worry, as long as Free Aramas is successful, not only will socialism worldwide have a new stronghold, Aramas will be freed from the furnace of war, whose fires burn the crops, the civilians and the economy. I believe this proposal to be of utmost importance and you must decide as soon as possible if those who dare call upon the likes of imperialists shall forever stamp out the peoples' revolution, or if a burden will be lifted from your heads to allow your men to push back, strengthened and refreshed.

Our country has undergone a similar period in the past, where we, too, have been embroiled in a bloody conflict, one after another, never-ending, unforgiving, unnecessary bloodshed. To fight for independence, for an idea; for the people to be free... Is it not the same with Aramas? So we fight. Against those that have crushed democracy under their heels; against those that only seek glory in death and destruction... Is it not the same with Aramas? For eight years you have fought valiantly. Over eight years, countless lives have been lost. To lose now is to have fought in vain; to have died in vain. Surely, the ideas will not be crushed -for ideas are undying- but the passion and the power will lie wasted, like a barren field of dead flowers.

For Aramas, there is hope: You are not as alone as we were. We see an opportunity to help where none has done so. We see an ally in our cause for a better world built upon the freedom of the people. Freedom through justice. Justice through equality.

We ask you this, Mr. Gabaretta – Should you take the first step towards an alliance between our two nations and accept our aid, or turn down aid and prove yourself and your ideology alone in the unforgiving fires of war?

We eagerly await your reply.

Dear allies,

As reports continue to circulate implicating the Muscat regime in gross infractions of human rights and standing treaties and war protocols that the UDE is committed to upholding, the Emirates has decided to involve itself directly in the conflict in Aramas.

In the interest of brevity, our national interests shall be condensed into a single goal that we hope you will find cohesive to your own: the immediate removal of Gelormo Muscat from power in the region.

Militarily, we hope you understand that our nation is only large enough to lend aid and support rather than lead any sort of charge. With this in mind, the proposals encapsulated in this letter are merely the beginning of our intended involvement in the region. In recognizance of the efforts that are already underway in the nation, we shall seek your approval before proceeding with any operations that may result in conflict escalation.

The first of these plans is listed below:

  • First and foremost, we wish to dispatch Rear Admiral Mahomet Khalifa and a portion of the Arabekhi Anti-Piracy Task Force that is under his command to congregate in the waters off of Aramas at a safe, but visible distance. It will be the goal of this portion of ships -- a total of 15 out of the 43 available ships -- to work as a satellite medical station for injured civilians within the country. A few of these ships are equipped to operate a single helicopter, which will be painted with emergency medical livery and will be used to airlift critical patients (particularly those in Troping) to the ships as needed to assist with hospital overflow. This will be the public explanation for the presence of these ships and they will indeed be used for this purpose. Furthermore, they will serve as docking points for a few inflatable boats to enable marine special operations if necessary.
  • Several units of medical supplies, MREs, construction materials, and gasoline are being donated directly to the Aquidish people in Troping for distribution as they see fit. The cost for these donations is covered by a portion of the national budget that sets aside funds for scenarios such as this one.
  • Finally, the Emirates is officially on call for any additional assistance that it may be able to provide. While we cannot commit to every given request, we are making ourselves available as an active ally that is willing to help.

We would also like to open an intelligence exchange on the Nation of Irsad. While insofar we have no relevant intelligence to supply, we will send any over as soon as it is gathered.

Kingdom of Aquidneck

Ministry of Public Safety

22 November 2017

The Honorable Senator Martino Nini,

The Ministry of Public Safety through the Bureau of Border Security and Customs, BBSC, does patrol and maintain the border between Troping and Aramas. Since 2008 the border agents have been assisted in their duties by the marines stationed in Troping Garrison under the command of Cav. Arturo Silvano. These marines are acting under the orders of the border agents when they are patrolling the border. The border is a large fence with a road running the length of it on this inside, on the Aramas side of the fence it is largely flatland. The road is patrolled day and night by a variety of means both human and technological. There is only one approved entrance/exit through the border fence. This passage through the fence is known as the Robles Gate, the gate can accommodate vehicle traffic and people on foot. Traffic through the gate since the beginning of the Civil War has seen a sharp decline in both directions, however the gate is not closed to anyone with the proper papers and authorization.

Since the start of the war there have been a few notable attempts by Aramasians to get into Troping illegally. Most of these people are refugees and after making certain they are safe, they are transferred over to the Refugee Claims Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which maintains an office in Troping. There have been a few attacks on the fence, most notably in 2010 when the gate was attacked by what we believe to be radicalized Nation of Irsad members and resulted in the death of one of the border agents guarding the gate. However for the most part the border has been quiet, the Ufficio dell'Intelligence Militare has stated that both the Muscat regime and the FRA are reluctant to operate too close to the border for fear that something could go wrong and draw Aquidneck into the war.

As of the writing of this letter it is not illegal for Aquidish citizens to pass through the gate nor is it illegal for Aramasians to pass through the gate so long as they have the proper paperwork, (passports, visas, etc.). Citizens of foreign countries are also permitted to pass through the gate provided they have the proper paperwork. Any item or good that passes through Aquidneck at any other border entry are also permitted to enter and exit through Troping.

After consulting with my honorable colleagues the Attorney General and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, we have come to the conclusion that the proposed actions of Nakamo Sandu and Mato Watakpe of TKae are not illegal and may be carried out as soon as their secure their visas and declare the items they are moving through the Kingdom. The Royal Aquidish Police have reached out and offered assistance in moving from Perino International Airport, onto the ferries going across the Asur and through Troping. They will be allowed to pass through Robles Gate and will be allowed to come back through the gate provided everything is still in order upon their return.

As always the Minister of Public Safety is happy and willing to answer any and all questions posed to it by members of the Senate exercising their oversight role given to them by the constitution. If you have any more questions for us please send a letter to my office and we will get back to you as quickly as we can.

Senator Deok Jang
Minister of Public Safety

Palazzo Orneta, Orneta District, Torden, Aquidneck
"This could not have come at a better time." the Prime Minister said as he placed the briefing down on the table before him. He looked at the assembled people before him, senior cabinet ministers, a couple of military attaches, and the Royal Police Commissioner before sitting back in his chair and speaking once more. "As always the TKaeans are quick to emotionally respond to events happening thousands of kilometers away. How are our donations coming along?" The PM looks to his deputy when asking the question.

The Deputy Prime Minister is a functionally useless title, there are no responsibilities that come with it and the leader of the Liberal Party, Senator Renata Panzera, knew this when she accepted the job, however as the third largest party in a hung senate she was allowed to make demands when negotiating with the Progressives who were trying to form a government. Thus in addition to being Deputy Prime Minister she was also the Defense Minister and despite a rocky start the Prime Minister and she now work together flawlessly. Panzera smiled at Petrillo and replied, "Everything has been gathered in Troping. Some of our Commonwealth allies also pitched in to gather some supplies, this was done quietly though. You know that most of them cannot face their people if it got out that they might intervene in any way in Aramas." Remo Mattei, the Foreign Affairs Minister, snorts derisively when she finishes her thought. "Anyways, the supplies have been gathered and are ready to be donated to the TKaeans upon their arrival in Troping. They will then take it along with whatever they have gathered and bring it to Gabaretta and his followers. The donate will be through a third party group of private citizens."

Petrillo nods appreciatively at his Deputy, "good... good. The CSS is moving more aggressively to support Muscat and the CDN is paralyzed with the attempts to remove the Newreyans from the Supreme Commander position. Hopwfully that will resolve itself soon enough. We will meet tomorrow to discuss Nation of Irsad and the effect of the sanctions in Sacemes. Thank you everyone for your work." With that the various officials disperced back to their offices scattered throughout the Palazzo Orenta and the district outside.

The taskforce was located in an averge drab apartment building, in Aramas's capital. It was sending reports from Muscat to Mumvar, however just watching as the civil war flared up. The sounds of typing filled up the rather quiet building, a woman sitting in the lobby. The leader of the group, strong and proud walked into the building, holding with him many papers.

"So Kelash, how was the mission today? More worthless papers sigh, what are we even going to do with, observe the damn war, just sit here typing up these correspondences?"

"Listen, Asha, shut your damn mouth, the emperor will decide, not some young secretary, who is only here because of her parents, you don't know anything about intelligence and keep complaining. I wish they'd appiont decent people if it weren't for all the corruption"

"I'm inexpereinced? Maybe you could actually give me something to do, instead of sitting here passing around tea like a servant? All you and your little
Jhalla crew ever do is give some reports to Mumvar and pretend you are some glorious agents. Probably a state of our nation and "honorable" officials like you. We don't even get real news either, the Rohstians and Volgarians can do that for us. All we ever do is sit here in this building sending reports they just ignore anyway."

Kelash's face begin to burn red, his temper flared up.

"You think this is funny! You little princeling! I am a proud officer of the Bihanhian Intelligence Forces that WORKED my way up, and you sit here complaining. If you hate it so much, GET THE HELL OUT OF MY AGENCY. LEAVE AND STOP COMPLAINING! All I ever do is do my job and you just complain like some village illiterate, SCAN THESE PAPERS AND DO SOMETHING USEFUL"

She snarkily nodded and scanned the papers, another agent ran downstairs hearing his shouting.

"Another argument, what the hell, every day it's an argument after another, can you two just work together. It makes work impossible!"

Asha attempted to speak up walking towards the agent but Kelash put his hand on her mouth. He looked at him very intimidatingly and slapped him.

"Get the hell back to work you lazy idiot. These matters aren't something you should be involved in!"

He ran off, cowardly and timidly up the stairs. Asha looked at Kelash with glaring eyes.

"We sit here doing nothing and you just shout to others! When will anything actually happen, when!"
She stormed away and scanned the intelligence report in her office.

Assessment- Aramas
This report has been delivered per a local task force in Aramas based upon the intelligence of Bihanhian intelligence groups operating out of Aramas and the relation to Bihanhian interests. This message is highly classified and uses specialized encryption technologies. Reveling this message will mean a breakage of Section C2655 of the Law of Classification, and in this case of this message will mean life in prison. This message is only accessible to the Emperor and his family, Star 7 Tier 1 Generals in the Armed Forces, and members of the High Clergy Council.
1. Foreign Involvement
The National Intelligence Agency has suspicions more foreign nations, mainly those that are against local Bihanhian influence and for further imperialism. Rumors have circulated of Newrey giving Sarin gas over to rebels, however, we have been unable to confirm these. While no official commitment by the CDN has been reached it is imperative we stay vigilant over the situation. Bihanhi must be able to play a role at the negotiating table once the conflict is over.
2. Growing Irsadi Threat
Within the nation of Aramas itself the Irsadis are rapidly growing, threatening the stability of the current state or Aramas for a potentially anti-Bihanhian, radical regime aligning itself with Sarabia. The Irsadis have always been a major security threat in terms of attacks and the potential of a new safe haven and source of funds for said rebels is a possibility we must not accept. The Irsadis present a major challenge to our interests and must be removed and defeated.
3. Pro-Western Rebels
The rebels of Aramas are ones that accept Western ideas such as "individualism" "democracy" and some are even socialists! These groups if they come out victorious would be signs to rebels and dissenters in Bihanhi that they too can circumvent authority and lead to a possible revolution. They would serve only to increase Western imperialism and domination in the region, a clear threat against us. Just like is Irsadis these Western rebels must be defeated.

The Heavenly Palace of Bihanhi, Royal District, Mumvar, Bihanhi

The Palace was fairly silent, ministers doing to their average work inside, with the expected routine. In a small walled off room within the massive eccentric palace, secretaries were working, typing telegrams and correspondences for the Emperor. One secretary got the telegram. He hurried to give it to the emperor

“Dear Emperor, a new intelligence report has come from a local branch. I understand you are busy but Aramas is very really important as a way to further our influence.

The old emperor was sitting at his desk silently, reading. He had the marks of old age, wrinkled skin, weakness, and a silent voice. He looked up at the secretary and in a creaky old voice responded.

“Don't worry, I will take a look soon. For now leave it here”

The Secretary kept it down and went back to his work. Later on, he opened the letter and began to read it, nodding. He called for it to be sent to the Prince, with his health was further ailing with the Emperor unable to speak up of his decisions.

Dear allies,

You are all likely aware that our dispatch of aid ships has arrived off the coast of Aramas. These ships are as much yours as they are ours. Please make use of them as needed.

Rear Admiral Mahomet Khalifa is the commanding officer of this dispatch. Please confirm any utilization of the fleet with him when appropriate and needed.

The primary objective of these ships is to provide additional facilities for a variety of purposes ranging from medical to holding of POWs and individuals of interest. Special utilization should be discussed with Admiral Khalifa first, of course.

Also, the supplies that we sent to Troping should be arriving today. It is our hope that this dispatch of aid is useful to the people there and to the people of Aramas.

South Calderon, San Feliz

“I have a new place that we’re going to head to,” said the Caldeorn Cartel smuggler, unlocking the fence and stepping into the inner yard of the large property in the South Calderon countryside. The ranch was a mostly unassuming place that was made up of farmlands, like many of the rural areas of the country were. The main building was only a couple of floors, and there was a barn and an airstrip in the area that was sort of the backyard. But saying that this was a normal ranch with a backyard and farmlands was oversimplifying things. There was more than meets the eye with this place, and really, it was the key to one of the smuggling operations of the Calderon Cartel.

“Oh yeah? Where’s that?” replied the man that walked around from the side of the house, Cornelio Marques. The man who had approached him was his brother, Paulo. Cornelio handled more of the technical aspects of the operation and Paulo was the one who specialized in making contracts and seeing who needed their smuggling services nationally and internationally, but they worked together to form a good team that the Cartel trusted more than all of the others. The barn was where the goods were stored, and the family cargo plane was parked at the airstrip, ready to go when they had a job to handle.

“We’re headed east, to Aramas and the area around it. I managed to find a buyer for the crates in the front of the barn. We might be able to get ourselves a long term deal out of this, but for now, we can move the three crates of AKMs, the one crate of RPGs, those machine guns, and the ammunition for it all. If I can negotiate when we’re on the ground, we might get a contract for the Cartel to send over more stuff,” said Paulo. “The buyer is the Nation of Israd, they’re digging in for a fight and they could use more weapons than what they have at the moment. I don’t know how they’re paying, they must have oil money or something, but I was able to talk to them because you know, everyone knows San Feliz for arms.”

Cornelio nodded. He started towards the house, to tell the associated inside that they would be loading up the plane soon and working on restocking the barn after the smugglers headed to Aramas with their goods. “I’ll get ready and we can be in the air as soon as the arrangements are made. I’m assuming you talked to someone already about getting in and how we’re going to make the flight…?”

“We’ll fly out from here and I know an airstrip where we can land without problem, assuming we can fly over the border without getting shot down. Easier said than done, but when you see the details of the money, you’ll be fine with the risk,” Paulo replied, and he followed his brother into the house. Soon, they would be departing on the dangerous journey towards Aramas, where the Nation of Israd would become their latest client.

Home of ESS Executive Diego Ofeh, Rekhov Aviv, Yam-Yaroq

Diego Ofeh was reading a newspaper. He often did this when he got home. He would proceed into his living room, sit beneath the tall lamp by the hearth, kick off his slippers and read in silence. He was surprised, then, when the silence of this night was interrupted by the ringing of his telephone. He rested the paper on his lap as he reached over to pick up the receiver.

A brief series of clicks prompted him to utter a pass phrase ─ a practice reserved for particularly confidential communications. This would be interesting.

"The sun-born phoenix lifts its visage upon the new dawn."

The voice which replied on the other end of the line was the slightly rough accent of a middle-aged Mzincu man. Not many of those in government, the executive thought to himself. His reply was another code, a sort that Ofeh himself had developed for sensitive ESS communications.

"The Grim Merchant steers his caravan into hostile lands. He presses too hard through the heat and must stop at a spring. The Cunning Thief sets upon him and, Grim Merchant detained, finds the Samekh Rune amongst his wares. Does the phoenix see from above?"

Ofeh shivered as he heard these words. "It sees and takes to flight," he muttered. With that he placed the receiver back into its place, cast his newspaper aside and hurried for his coat. Clearly his day had only just begun.

The Kingdom of Hipasia
ממלכת־חפּסיה

To the Defence Minister of the Kingdom of Aquidneck,
Renata Panzera,

I write you on behalf of the Kingdom of Hipasia with news of a particular urgency. Before I pass on this news, however, and in the interest of clarity and cooperation between our nations, I must recount to you certain actions undertaken by Hipasia this past month. It goes without saying that this information is confidential and passed with our trust.

Beginning about a fortnight ago from my writing, one hundred and twelve (112) members of the Hipasian armed forces, stripped of identifying effects and given false identities, passed through the Kingdom of Aquidneck, ostensibly as tourists. These soldiers were in fact sent to aid the Free Republic of Aramas in their fight against the Nation of Irsad and the Muscat government.

I must stress that the sole reason why your government was not informed about this movement beforehand is a need for us Hipasians to maintain our own security. We did not want to risk a member of your government leaking information which could put Hipasia or its people at risk, particularly lest this should anger those nations which find themselves aiding the government of Muscat. We apologise in advance for any offence this may cause.

I write you now, however, not only to reveal this to you, but also to reveal distressing information which came to light earlier this day. You might consider this a gesture of goodwill.

An agent of the Hipasian External Security Service stationed in the Deromi Desert of Hipasia received information of a Saraibian male transporting suspicious cargo through the village of Avakefa. Following through on these reports with the support of the police our agent detained this male and searched his cargo, which was being transported in the back of a covered truck. Amongst various dud supplies ranging from food to electronic devices, firearms and ammunition were discovered. A large sealed container was also discovered.

Testing has revealed that this container, which under interrogation we discovered was headed towards members of the Nation of Irsad in southwestern Aramas, contained a lethal concentration of sarin gas. Further interrogation of the detained Saraibian has led us to believe that this is not the first such shipment to have been sent towards Aramas. It is highly likely that the Nation of Irsad has used sarin against its enemies already, and would be prepared to do the same in future.

I shall be meeting with key members of the Hipasian government tonight to discuss this in greater detail. I have reason to suspect that our nation will consider this to be an act of war by Saraibia to which our country must respond in kind. I can only hope that the people of Aquidneck, and its allies in the Commonwealth of Democratic Nations, will not stand idly by and ignore this transgression by Saraibia as it has with certain parties involved in the civil war in Aramas. I would remind the Defence Minister that Saraibia does indeed share a border with the CDN, lest that be overlooked.

Sincerely, on behalf of the Kingdom of Hipasia,
Diego b. Ishmael Ofeh,
Executive of the Hipasian External Security Service

#GunsOutForAramas: Ships To Troping, Guns to Gabaretta

Reports from Troping indicate that the first #GunsOutForAramas cargo ship has arrived in the region and has successfully cleared Aquidish customs. According to sources, the supplies have been transported across the Aramasian border along seven routes, and are currently being distributed to Gabarettist forces. As reported by GunsOutForAramas.com, over $100 million in donations have been amassed, along with physical donations of canned goods, bottled water, clothing, shoes, hygiene supplies, medical supplies, and weapons.
Image
Guns donated at a #GunsOutForAramas concert

A picture provided by Nakamo Sandu shows weapons donated by concertgoers of a #GunsOutForAramas concert, which have attracted guest performances by bands including Snuff Nut, Crina Kushala, The Withered Hookers, and Alina Andra. Volunteers involved with inventory-taking have confirmed that donations included assault rifles, hunting rifles, shotguns, semi-automatic pistols, revolvers, and crates of grenades. According to one volunteer, "I tagged over 100 rifles by myself. Easily over 100."

After a whirlwind schedule of concert performances, Nakamo Sandu sat down for an interview about the effort:

First of all, six concerts in seven days. How are you feeling?

"Hah. Yeah. I'm exhausted. As long as I don't stop moving for too long, it doesn't really bother me. But I feel it every night, and they have to fight to get me out of bed in the morning."

Is this something you saw yourself doing as an artist?

"No. I mean, everybody hopes they do something meaningful, you know? That they can reach out and touch someone and make a difference somehow. But it's not like I ever saw this being the way I did that. I thought it would be songs and performances that got people caught up in them. I've been lucky with that in my career. But this is a completely other level."

Was it as successful as you hoped?

"It's beyond what I ever hoped, and I just want to thank everyone who's gotten it this far and made it so successful. The people who donated, especially. I mean, I was mad one night and thought we'd maybe get a few thousand dollars and a few guns. It was just us lashing out because I was pissed nobody was doing anything. I never, ever thought it would be this big. Maybe Mato did. He's like that, you know?"

Image
Mato Watakpe in Troping
You mean his ability to organize.

"Yeah. He's the one who took this from an idea to a success. I mean, yeah, he's one of the best musicians in the world as far as I'm concerned. But watching him organize things and make them happen? Most musicians don't have that. Most businessmen I've met aren't on his level with that. Before we did this, I always just thought he was supernatural. The collaborations he's put together and the scale of his performances, you know? I've always looked up to that, wondering what makes him a head above the rest of us. Watching him work showed me the clockwork behind the curtain. It's scary in an overwhelming, awe-inspiring kind of way. It's just raw, undiluted will to force."

Is that how you'd define his success as an artist?

"Hell no. I'd define his vision as what makes him successful. Watching him made me think of a qoute I always loved: 'All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity, but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their dreams with open eyes, to make them possible.'"

"Being an organizer isn't what makes him great. Being able to accurately and effectively create his vision through organization on a grand scale is what makes him great. It all comes down to the artistic vision. That's all any of us want. To hear it and see it in our heads, and share it with everyone else. To make it happen like we feel it. He does that where the rest of us struggle. And he did that with this. Every obstacle we had, from the transportation issues to the volunteers we needed, even down to the border and diplomacy issues, he was involved with it. Where the rest of us saw mountains to climb, he saw mountains to bulldoze."

And how successful has it been? What's the end result?

"Very. We're staying in touch with the people involved on the ground. The shipments are through with a lot of help from some very influential people. I can't say who, I don't want to start an international incident. But there was some help in high places. So at the end of it all, there's a pipeline that's getting the guns and supplies to the right people. We're hoping it makes a tangible difference sooner rather than later. Strategically, we're hoping that it at least balances the odds and forces an actual ceasefire. Without something to knock Muscat on the back foot, nothing is really pressing him to stop what he's doing. But obviously our best case scenario is that it turns the odds in favor of the Gabarettists."

Some people are saying that you've poured gas on a fire rather than water. How do you respond to that?

"I'd say those are people in one of two camps. Either they're in the camp of people who thought this was going to end with a diplomatic resolution between the Gabarettists and the Muscat government, or they're people who wanted a total victory for the Muscat government. In the first case, that was a harmful delusion. Muscat had no reason to come to the table when he could gas his own people. I mean, why would he? He could win that way, and nobody was stopping him. So waiting on that was pointless, and the body count was climbing in the meantime. It just blows my mind that people can justify waiting while people are dying. Then in the second case, a victory for Muscat is a loss for freedom all over the world. Obviously some people who support him are against freedom in general. So I've got a very specific finger for how much I care about their opinions. But the ones who say they want freedom, then say to keep Muscat in power? Fuck them. If you say freedom is worth fighting for, you put your money where your mouth is. Bitching out because it's difficult makes you as bad as the people who actively suppress the rights of others. Maybe worse, because you know better and are just a coward."

Those are the kinds of statements that people have been inspired by.

"I mean, I hope so. I'm not a good speaker or anything. I'm not trying to be a politician. This is just how I feel, and I say what I feel. I'm sure it isn't the most tactful way of doing this, but there's a reason I'm not a diplomat. And honestly, I don't think I'm persuading people or convincing people of anything. From the response we've had, I think I'm just saying what people are thinking. And I think we're visible enough for people to see it being said out loud where other people can hear. It was Mato and a lot of volunteers and donors who made this actually happen."

Well, ending on the note of saying what you feel, how do you feel about everything that's happened?

"I'm proud. I mean, not that it was me who did it. I don't like to think I'm speaking for Mato, but I'm pretty sure he feels the same about that. I'm just proud that people cared. I'm proud that we're a country who acts on what we believe in and can come together in a way that federal governments around the world weren't able to. We get a lot of shit about the way we do things, but we made something happen that defied a lot of the people who talk that shit. I'm proud that it happened, and I'm proud of the scale that it happened at. I hope people around the world remember this. And I really hope that it makes a real, material difference on the ground. I'd love to see this be what turns things around and gives the Aramasians the freedom that they want."

Military Briefing
This report is restricted to those with Level V security clearance. This document is not to be removed from the Ministry of Defence.

To the most esteemed President,
Our intelligence reports have gathered together the most up to date reports in regards to the ongoing conflict. You will find our geopolitical survey displayed below:

Initial findings would suggest that opposition forces hold slightly more land than initially believed, with their holdings around Lija being far less vulnerable than anticipated. A significant rebel holdout has been located near the capital of Sannat. It is recommended that this be destroyed as quickly as possible so as to minimise dissent within the capital, especially in light of the recent terrorist attack which claimed the life of your cousin.
Furthermore, military deployments within this area are at risk of being surrounded. Recommend immediate withdrawal or significant reinforcements.
Irsadic presence remains contained around the Abjad region, however reports suggest that the Nation of Irsad continues to hold possession of several oil wells. It is of paramount importance that we are able to retake these areas and ensure that such facilities are returned to operational levels.

Torrosan military intelligence has been invaluable to our recent successes against rebel forces, particularly in locating and neutralising rebel leader Indrija Darmenia. Reports however suggest that Ċensu Gabaretta has taken control of rebel forces. It has been confirmed that Muscat has been in contact with members of the Commonwealth of Democratic Nations.
Fortunately, reports indicate that CDN forces are unwilling to engage in military operations, for fear of escalation. Instead such nations have committed themselves to supplying humanitarian aid.
Perhaps a more friendly attitude toward these missions would de-escalate conflict for the post war situation?
It is further recommended that your forces do not continue to deploy sarin gas. Such operations undermine our nations credibility on the international stage.

Despite the CDN's refusal to become involved militarily, we do have confirmation that Dreyvisevich is supplying rebel forces through backchannels. We will look into disrupting this.
Our agents within the Abjad mountains continue to make limited progress. Intel from Abuqiya is limited. We have instructed our agents to make contact with the camel traders we believe to be supplying the NoI from Saraibia.

More information will be sent as and when it become available.
