The Maiden's Record

Since the earliest days of Terran history, Terrans have looked up and wondered what was beyond their little sphere of isolation in the galaxy. For thousands of years, all they could do was wonder what was out there and imagine walking the stars. Humanity would make their first big step many thousands of years after first looking up. In the midst of the Cold War, on October 4, 1957, this first step would come in the form as the Sputnik I, the first Terran made satellite in space, and the start of the space race. A few years later, on April 12, 1961, the next big step was taken when the Soviets successfully launched Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin into space. Four years later, cosmonaut Alexey Leonov would make the first spacewalk on March 18, 1965. On December 24, 1968, Apollo 8 would be the first Terran space faring vessel to make it to the Moon and back. The next year would mark the biggest step for humanity in space travel. July 20, 1969, a date that would forever go down in history as Neil Armstrong would step foot on the Moon. After that, a few more milestones in space travel; the first space station Salyut 1 on April 19, 1971; the first reusable space shuttles on April 12, 1981; November 2, 2000 saw the first crew members on the International Space Station; and then the rise of commercial space travel.

The final major stepping point for humanity's journey to the stars, was the development of the first FTL Drive. It was created by one Dr. Marius Sydow, who would go on to found one of the five megacorps that would dominate Terran society in the future. The drive was developed in 2149, and the first flight of a ship with the FTL Drive was on October 4, 2157. The date was chosen symbolically, to show that humanity had entered a new age of space travel, unfortunately, what Dr. Sydow thought was the beginning of a beautiful new age, would end up being a time of war. War erupted across the Earth, with states falling as fast as new ones rose. As wars raged across states though, the mega corporations rose, offering people safety and started to look beyond Earth for new worlds. Worlds for colonization and more importantly resources.

The mega corporations would make first contact around 2182 with many alien races. A few conflicts would begin, everything from simple disagreements to full out wars as Terrans began to expand. This would stop however around 2265, when news from Earth made it to the top levels of the mega corporations, and the mega corporations looked back home. A new war began as the mega corporations sought to claim their home. This war would end with many former colonies of the mega corporations seeking independence, and the rise of the Terran Authority. After that war, which would be known as the Corporate War, not much would happen. Terran territories started to see a rise in crime rates, and the era of chaotic space piracy. By 2324, a new faction started to rise in the galaxy, the Court of Five, and brought a sort of order to the era of space piracy.

But the galaxy would face a new sort of chaos years later, with rumours of a new Terran organization, Whisper. At first the whispers about Whispers were just that whispers, but come 2400, these whispers became screams. Attacks began across the galaxy, and the mysterious organization Whisper stepped into the light. While its agenda remained unknown, the fear associated with it became well known. A new war was raged across the galaxy, and by 2418, Whisper was believed to have been destroyed. However, their are rumours that they are still around, recovering and waiting for their next chance.

The current date, according to the Terran Gregorian calendar, is May 13, 2543 CE. The crew of the Celestial Maiden is about to find themself in the centre of a series of galaxy changing events, with the opportunity to change the course of history.

Welcome to The Maiden’s Record, a science fantasy adventure. Yes, I said science fantasy, and yes, that is a legitimate genre. Basically, science fantasy is just science fiction with fantasy elements such as magic, knights, wizards, and so on. Probably some of the most well known examples are Star Wars, Warhammer 40k, Doctor Who, and pretty much anything that mixes science fiction and fantasy.

Anyways, The Maiden’s Record follows the crew of the Celestial Maiden. But what sort of vessel is the Celestial Maiden? Without knowing this, you won’t know who her crew is. The Celestial Maiden is a unique ship, and I really mean it. No other ship in the galaxy looks like it. It is Elyzian made, built for speed with a fair amount of firepower that allows it to go against larger ships. Inside the ship is a high end medical bay complete with a quarantine bay (three solid walls and an energy barrier as the door/fourth wall). The ship also has an armory, and training room. It also has a bunch of stuff you’d expect, a mess hall, crew quarters, a bridge, engine room and so on. It’s cargo bay is a fair size, but it also has a vault on board. The vault isn’t just small, it’s about a quarter the size of the cargo bay.

Now, why would the Celestial Maiden need these sort of rooms? Well, the answer to that is what her crew’s line of work is. Her crew are smugglers, and mercenaries that will do almost anything for money. Her crew is small due to the line of work, and most of them do have bounties on their heads from different factions. Despite this, they do not have trouble finding work, as they are some of the best in the business.

Those who apply will be taking on a role on the Celestial Maiden, that role could be pretty much anything as long as it makes sense. And in this galaxy of multiple races, almost every race is open for use, and if you feel creative feel free to create your own race. However, if you want to do that, I ask you run the race by me first.

7. If you want to add something to the lore, then ask and run it by me before doing so.
8. Inform everyone if you are to be absent for an extended period of time through the OOC
9. Keep any magic limited to one or two things, just for balance sake. Also for balance sake, magic requires time to cast and a medium to cast with.

LORE STUFF - RACES

Humans, enough said. While Terrans aren’t necessary skilled in magic, they are well known for their grasp of the other side of the coin, science. They have space faring vessels, shield tech but still use kinetic based weaponry and missiles. They originate from the Terrestrial planet known as Earth (or Terra).

The Saef’ are a race of humanoids with features that are reminiscent of elves, with pointed ears and sharp features. They measure on average six to seven feet tall and can live for up to five hundred years, but are able to extend their natural life through magic to live almost indefinitely. Their skin is as pale as the white snow of their home world of Mereth. Due to their lifespan, the Saef’ have low birth rates and a relatively small population. They are among the most advanced races in technology and magic, interweaving the two more often than not as magitech. They make use of space faring ships, energy and magic based weaponry that is both elegant and deadly. While their ships do not pack the most fire power, they are among the most agile.

Saef’ culture puts a focus on learning, knowledge, and individual expression. Which is ironic considering that the Saef’ are all telepathically connected to each other in the largest telepathic web in the known galaxy, this web is referred to as the Saef’ Grand Consciousness. This web isn’t completely natural however. While naturally the Saef’ are telepathic, the Saef’ Grand Consciousness was created through Saef’ magitech. The Saef’ Grand Consciousness is a large magitech device in the Saef’ capital which every member of the Saef’ is connected to once they come to age. If a Saef’ is imprisoned, their connection to the Saef’ Grand Consciousness is severed.

Saef’ society is one of the best you will find. Crime rates are low, as almost every Saef’ lives a life without the fear of going without, and live with more luxury than you’d expect. How can this be you may be asking? Well, it's all thanks to two things, their magitech, and slavery. Yes, the Saef’ allow slavery, but it is not as bad as one would expect. There are many laws in Saef’ society that prevent slaves from being abused in any way. In fact, most slaves owned by the Saef’ never go hungry, and actually live in better conditions than normal citizens of other factions. That said, this is only the majority and there are instances of horrible slave owners, but due to Saef’ laws if they are discovered, they rarely go unpunished. Slaves of the Saef’ also have quite a lot of freedom, and escaping slavery for Saef’ slaves is relatively easy. The magitech comes in as the majority of manual labour done for the Saef’ is done through magic constructs. These constructs out populate the slaves, simply because they are tools unlike slaves which are still living things.

The home world of the Saef’, Mereth, is an ice planet, with massive cave systems and caverns teeming with life. The icy cities of the Saef’ are located mainly under the surface, but their crystal spires pierce through the surface and into the sky. They are capable of colonizing other planets other than ice planets, but they prefer cold climates. They do their best to be friendly with other races, but do have a sense of superiority that can cause problems. These problems also cause issues for them as the majority of Saef’ prefer peace over conflict.

he Praux are a divergent group from the Saef’, who came into being after a group of Saef’ were banished from Mereth, and through magic and science changed themselves. They have an elven appearance like the Saef’, but unlike the Saef’ their skin is dark blue to a grey, and are the same height as the Saef’. They are just as magically gifted as the Saef’ and can extend their life much like the Saef’. They however do not have the same speed of reproduction as the Saef’, in fact they have high birth rates and have a large population. Comparing their tech to the Saef’, they are at the same level, however unlike the Saef’ ships, Praux ships could be called brutal, efficient and deadly. They focus less on agility, and use more brute force.

Praux society and culture is pretty much the opposite of the Saef’. Where the Saef’ put an emphasis on individual expression, the Praux put emphasis on conformity. The Saef’ have the Grand Consciousness, and the Praux do not. Crime rates among Praux worlds are high, and many Praux have to fight to survive. In order to keep people from rebelling, the Praux provide their people with many forms of entertainment, often at the expense of slaves, and they also shift the blame for their hardships on the Saef’. Speaking about slavery, it is one of the things that is shared between the Saef’ and the Praux. However, the Praux are not as kind as the Saef’. The Praux are cruel slavers, and slave owners. There are no laws to protect slaves. While still speaking about slaves, the Praux are the galaxies greatest slavers, and slavers are often the pride of the Praux.

The home world of the Praux is an interesting planet, Pertinax (though, technically the home world of the Praux is also Mereth). Pertinax is a planet that seems to be in a permanent volcanic winter due to the many massive volcanoes that almost constantly spewing ash out. The planet, while covered in ash still has natural life. What look like dead forests can be found, as well as dark fungal forests. Massive cave systems can also be found, filled with glowing fungi. The cities of the Praux are black as the night with a purple glow.

The Yst are a race of tall horned humanoids. They measure on average eight to nine feet tall, with tails and horns. Each individual Yst has their own unique horns and their tail also differs slightly between individuals. Their skin ranges between different shades of red. They are not as technologically advanced as others, but they make up for this gap with their physical aspects, skill in magic and magicraft. They are also gifted with the knowledge of the creation of a certain alloy that they use to make their weapons, armour and other things.

They lack space faring vessels, but that does not stop them from travelling the stars. Making use of their magic, they can locate and open gateways to other worlds. They also lack any form of firearm, preferring to make use of ranged magic or other weapons to engage at a range. Through their magic they are able to communicate with the ships of other races.

This lack of technology does not come from them having a lower base intelligence than other races, if comes from the fact that they have always focused on their traditions and that they have never had a need to change said traditions. The Yst are a warrior culture that place honour, loyalty and tradition above all else. As such, they follow their own warrior code, which happens to encourage the holding of grudges. But it also prevents them from usually being the aggressor.

That said, all they need is a reason to go to war, and if given a reason they will attack. In war they are relentless, they slaughter all they go against, be them civilian or military, child or adult. However, they never draw out the killing, the code instructs them to kill their opponents as painlessly as possible. Because of their code, they are feared by other races, and as such most everyone knows that it's best to just let them be. But yet, they remain ever ready for war as conflicts between Yst clans is a fact of life for them.

Due to this constant warring, one would expect the Yst to be low in numbers. That is sort of true. The Yst are functionally immortal. Through years of war unending, and magic research, the Yst will almost always rise again. After being born, a ceremony is performed, linking the individual to their clan Spawning Pit. The Spawning Pits are deep pits of purple magma found deep under the surface of Yst worlds (off their home world, Spawning Pits are artificially crafted). If a Yst is killed in combat, they will rise again after a day or so. The only way to permanently kill a Yst is to destroy their Spawning Pit.

Now, to talk about the Yst home world and Yst colonization. The Yst home world is known as Ystrulix, or as many Terrans insist on calling it, Hell. Ystrulix is a primal wasteland of a world. Most of the planet is covered in black ashen deserts, seas of lava, volcanoes and volcanic rock cave systems. The sky is usually blocked by black ash clouds, and erie red glows. Powerful lightning storms bombard the planet's surface. The only indication of life on the surface are the black and crimson towers of the Yst. Life can be found under the planet's surface however, in the volcanic caverns that often host the cities of the Yst and deep winding cave systems. When the Yst colonize another planet, they use magic to alter the planet to look more like their home world to the point where almost every planet that is home to the Yst looks the same from space.

The Heas’i are an insectoid race known for their skill in genetic manipulation, cloning, medicine and biological warfare. They have manipulated their own genetic information to the point where they are no longer like what they had originally been. They have reached what they consider to be genetic perfection. The Heas’i are gender-less and most are sterile, with the only ones capable of reproducing being the Heas’i Sovereigns. The Sovereigns reproduce through parthenogenesis, allowing for both non-Sovereign offspring and Sovereign offspring. The normal Heas’i live for only about fifty years, with the Sovereigns living up to two hundred. Due to this short life span, the normal Heas’i have a high birth rate as well, leading to a massive population, while Sovereigns are only hatched every hundred years or so. If the newborn Sovereign is unneeded to take over the role of the parent, they are sent to form a new hive. Normal Heas’i are about as tall as a Terran, while the Sovereigns are giant ranging anywhere from 20 feet to 30 feet tall, and have what appears to be a crown like structure rising from the top of its head.

The Heas’i society and culture may not be what you expect from their appearance. They are a hive mind, with each hive being connected to only that hive. Their history is full of rapid expansion and corruption of entire planets. Despite this, and their predatory appearance, they are actually one of the kindest and most peaceful race in the known galaxy. They avoid spreading to planets with intelligent life, as they know that their hives spread a corruption over the world. And so they spread to worlds with primitive life, or even no life. That said, they never interfere with evolution, and act as passive observers to said evolving species. They are able to survive in all conditions, including in the vacuum of space. They are not only kind and peaceful, but they are open to other races much more than one would expect. They trade with others, and do what they can to build friendly relations with others. In fact, they do shared their knowledge on medicine, genetic manipulation and cloning with other factions.

They do not however share their dark secrets, their knowledge of things they do not ever like using. Biological weapons. When war comes, they will make use of such things if they are forced to, but due to the devastating effects of their biological weapons they are a last resort. As such, they will never divulge the secrets of said weapons, especially since they do not trust many of the other races.

The Heas’i home world, Ealia, was once a desert world, but over time it has been covered completely by the Heas’i corruption which appears as a grey mass of biological material that covers the entire world. The Hives of the Heas’i are mainly subterranean, making finding them very difficult.

*Note: Enchis are the creation of Charlia
The Enchis are small, blue creatures with prehensile tendrils on their heads and relatively featureless bodies save for a set of gills on the sides of their bodies, allowing them to live underwater as well as on land. A fully-grown Enchis is about as tall as the average human head. They rarely use technology, preferring to use their magical abilities to solve their problems. Preferring not to engage in war due to their small stature, they will use alliances with other species to their advantage in the case of conflict. Such a species is the Oorjawashindi. Their reproduction is something that no one has yet figured out--they have no concept of gender or sex, and new Enchis seem to appear without explanation. The most popular theory among other species is that they manage to reproduce asexually, closely followed by a theory that they are all, in fact, clones of each other. Due to the fact that they all look exactly the same, this theory does have its merits. Another important question that no one has yet answered is how they tell each other apart, as cases of mistaken identity never happen.

Their home planet is Enchi. This planet has five major land masses, most of which are centered around the north pole and between the equator and north pole. It has an average surface temperature of about 54 degrees Fahrenheit. Its average temperature has been falling over the last several millennia, and it experiences high levels of geological activity in a few hotspots. Easily-mined metals are abundant over most of the the land. The Enchis are the only sentient species on this planet, though there are many aquatic species and several other land-dwelling species living there. Warmer climes will often make Enchis very lazy and sleepy.

Their culture has a focus on art and expression, and without a doubt, the most famous of the species are their artists. Freedom of expression is extremely important to them, although many works are centered around their religious beliefs.

When it comes to their society, it's better than human society at the very least. Their magic makes life much easier, and due to importance being placed on generosity, few of them live in anything but comfort. Luxury is uncommon, but often times Enchis have everything they need, and a little bit more besides.

The main thing that Enchis eat are the plants that withstand their planet's temperature, with various small animals as a dietary supplement. Sugar is highly prized among the species, and something as simple as a piece of candy is enough to give them an almost drug-like euphoria.

The Oorjawashindi are a unique race of beings, as they are an energy based life form. Their natural form is a floating orb of what could best be described as blue liquid energy. This is not their only form however, as they can manipulate non organic and organic material to create many different forms made out of an extremely strong exoskeleton, and a dormant form that resembles a small blue marble. In this dormant form is when the Oorjawashindi is at its weakest. There exists a much larger dormant form of the Oorjawashindi known as the Core. The Oorjawashindi have no concept of the individual, mainly due to the fact that the Oorjawashindi are a combined intelligence. A single mind for billions of “bodies”. They have no concept of technology or magic as the rest of the galaxy does.

This is not where the strangeness of the Oorjawashindi ends though, this is only the tip of proverbial iceberg. Their evolutionary journey is also strange. The Oorjawashindi remembers everything that happens to it, but yet they can not recall where they came from. They do know that they have been around since the early days of the universe, drifting through space in a single, large semi-dormant form, more commonly referred to as the Core. After a few billion years they found themselves heading straight towards a planet known as Enchi, which was already home to a primitive species that was struggling for survival, the Enchis.

The a group of ancient Enchis awoke the Oorjawashindi by accident, and the Oorjawashindi established communication with them. A deal was struck to benefit both species, and the Oorjawashindi would take the position as the protector of the Enchis, while the Enchis would protect the dormant Oorjawashindi. Over time this relationship became more solidified and the benefits became obvious. The Core was hid away, and connected itself to the planet. In times of trouble, the Enchis would wake the Oorjawashindi, and the Oorjawashindi would rise from the depths of the planet to protect the Enchis.

The Elyzians are an ancient, powerful and proud race. They are the most develop peoples in the galaxy, with mastery over magic and science. They are nearly indistinguishable from Terrans, with the only a few ways of telling them apart. One way is to examine their DNA, but without equipment or time it's useless. Another way, is to sense their magic power, however this can only be done by the magically gifted. The final way to tell an Elyzian from a Terran is to look at their eyes. Elyzian eyes have a ever so faint glow to them. Of course, you could also injure them, as Elyzians have the most powerful healing factor in the known galaxy. While they can’t heal severed limbs, most other injuries heal quite fast. The only ways to kill an Elyzian is severing their head, or damaging their heart beyond repair.

It should be mentioned as well that the Elyzians are immortal. Now, I had stated that they can be killed, and now I say they are immortal, that may not make sense to most people. But that confusion comes from a dangerous assumption with the definition of immortal. Being immortal means not being mortal, and not being mortal means not being able to die through natural means. It does not mean they are immune to death. As such, once the Elyzians grow to maturity, they stop aging and as such can not die through old age. Nor could they die to disease and poisons. The only exception being a poison created from a very specific and rare plant grown on their home world.

This immortality pays a massive role in their culture, traditions, and religion. They hold death sacred. In fact, their most sacred rite is known as the Gift of Yvdohr, a sort of ritualistic suicide. The Gift of Yvdohr is only given to Elyzians that have lived a life full of service to the greater good of to the state, the people, and so on. Those who are given it are decided on by a special council of religious leaders, and are summoned to the Temple of Yvdohr. There they are celebrated from dawn till dusk, and then they are given time to say their final goodbyes before midnight. At midnight they are given a drink, poisoned with the only poison that can kill them, and are told to drink. Of course, this isn’t the only way they die, they also can die in combat, but every Elyzian would say that they prefer death through the Gift of Yvdohr.

Now, we should probably talk politics. The Elyzian government operates through many layers, of elected, chosen, and inherited positions. The highest level of the Elyzian government sits two ancient positions, the Emperor/Empress and the Rahzahkrii. Both are positions of equal weight, with the Rahzahkrii being the head of the military and religion, and the Emperor/Empress being the head of everything else. Now, what stops the Rahzahkrii from just taking over, well, a magic ritual that binds the Emperor/Empress and the Rahzahkrii so that neither can betray each other. There is much more to the government of the Elyzians, but since it's deeply intertwined with the Tri Star Imperium, the rest can wait.

There is one final thing to be discussed, the homeworld of the Elyzians, Elyzia. Elyzia is a large Gaia planet. The planet has two artificial rings around it in geosynchronous orbit, one running along the planet's equator, and the other running from pole to pole. One would expect the rings to cast a shadow on the world, but they do not because of light redirection magitech. The rings serve as additional space for housing, conservation and agriculture, while limiting the amount of destructive development on the homeworld. They have historically colonized many worlds, and had a mighty empire that was said to have consisted of over half the systems of the universe. However, all empires fall. A massive war was fought against an enemy that the Elyzians refuse to talk about. The war resulted in the destruction of most planets with life, as well as a much smaller Elyzian Empire.

Life would bounce back however, and soon the Elyzians found themselves on the path to conflict with their neighbours once again as their neighbours expanded. And after a war that almost cause their complete destruction, you could probably understand why they didn’t want to fight even though they were superior. So they met with the neighbours, the Myrian Queendom and the Holy Clyh’ Forests, together the three races discussed a possible solution to avoid war. And so, a new nation was born. The Elyzian Empire, along with the Myrian Queendom, and the Holy Clyh’ Forests, had been brought together under one banner, the banner of the Tri Star Imperium. Ever since then, the three races have been inseparable, trading and moving freely between each other, defending each other with a combined fleet.

The Myrians are a humanoid race of warriors, hunters and beast tamers. Their skin is brown in colour and as hard as rock. Small horns protrude from their forehead. They have slightly pointed ears and long black hair. They are well built for their lifestyle as hunters on their home world, faster than any other race on foot, and physically one of the strongest. They are also among the tallest, standing around ten feet tall on average. This strength comes with a price, that price being the ability to use magic other than passively through the Myrian Beast Tongue. Myrians live for the about the same amount of time as the Terrans, often slightly longer.

Myrian society heavily focused on the hunt. Their culture and society comes as a product of their home world. Myra, is a planet much like Earth, and yet much different. The oceans of Myra have a dull glow at night with pink and purple algae. The land is the same brown as the skin of the Myrians, and covered by thick fungal forests that glow vibrant purples, blues, greens and pinks. There are also many large glowing crystals dotted all over the planet's surface, along with countless islands floating in the sky. Where the fungal forests end; the dusty badlands begin. Myra is both a beautiful world, and a deadly one. Many dangerous beasts roam the world. For this reason, the Myrians have always needed to be hunters, as it is eat or be eaten. Also, due to the high temperatures of Myra, the Myrians traditionally wear very little clothing as it only slows them down and doesn’t help them remain cool.

Much of their culture and traditions surround the hunt. The Myrians measure their worth through the hunt, in fact their coming of age rite involves hunting a certain beast known as a Fluvari, which under the Myrians are the top predator on Myra. Only those who make it back alive, with the head of a Fluvari, are accepted into Myrian society with open arms. But those who fail are shunned, disowned, and often chased away from their homes. Other things of interest with Myrian culture and tradition include Beast taming. Beast tamers are just as revered as the great hunters of the Myrians. While the Myrians are great hunters, they respect all that they hunt, some Myrians take this to the next level. These Myrians are born with the ability to speak the Beast Tongue, which allows them to understand and communicate with all manners of beasts, and with many, tame them.

The final important aspect of Myrian society and culture is that they are a matriarchal society. While the men are physically stronger, the females still lead. This mainly is due to traditional and religious beliefs. It should be mentioned that some Myrians still live nomadic lifestyles, while others have settled down. But no matter the lifestyle, the Myrians are divided into different clans. Each tribe is lead by a clan mother, who leads them in all aspects. Because of this, the Myrians do not actually elect their members for their city councils, instead, they just have the clan mothers fill the roles, and from the clan mothers they elect the planetary council and their representatives. Will still talking about the Myrian matriarchy, it should also be mentioned that the Myrian women do often take multiple husbands, which is especially the case with clan mothers.

Myrian leadership does not end at the clan mothers however. There is one more person above any clans clan mother in authority, the mother of all clan mothers, the Queen of Myra. The Queen is often a capable beast tamer, and hunter.

The Clyh’ are a very unique species, they are humanoid, but unlike other races, they are plants. They are highly diverse, with many different appearances between individuals. They are small in stature, standing on average anywhere from three feet to four feet tall. They are masters at magic revolving around nature and life, and are fairly advanced in technology. Their ships are some of the strangest, as they are grown and are actually giant plants that can survive in space.

Clyh’ society, culture and tradition is centred around nature, and the forest. They live in hollowed out trees, enhanced with magic and technology, which makes their cities really something to see. Anyone who does any harm to nature, instantly finds themselves on the bad side of the Clyh’. It should also be mentioned that the Clyh’ can communicate with any and all plant life in the galaxy, making them some of the best trackers in the galaxy. Their home planet, Y'ffre, is completely covered in a thick forest, but lacks any sort of naturally occurring animal life. Instead, there are plant based creatures that roam the forests filling the niches normally held by animal life. At the head of their society is the Groveking/ Grovequeen.

The Iloinu are a race that are rarely heard from in most Terran broadcasts, rather similar to how one rarely hears of the Chukchi. This can be attributed to rather similar circumstances, as both the Iloinu and Chukchi inhabit places that are both inhospitable and of relatively little value to those who rule them. The homeworld of the Iloinu, Iloinuvit, is a relatively large moon in rotation around a gas giant in Saef’ space. The gas giant it rotates around, as well as a different moon, are both inhabited and exploited by Saef’ as any other territory. Iloinuvit, thanks to the fact that the planet is both warm from volcanic activity, and has a dense atmosphere not unlike the Saturnian moon of Titan, though perhaps with a bit more chlorine gas.

The Iloinu as a species, despite being rather flimsy and composed of much more air than the typical sapient being, are surprisingly resilient, with their tough and conductive skin allowing them to make full use of their heavily charged bodies. Mentally, they aren’t challenged, but their brain, as are most of their other organs, are smaller than they would be for most equivalently proportioned species.

The reason for this difference is that Iloinu contain within them a large number of ‘bladders’ that can be filled and emptied through pores in the skin, which are, in settings other than their homeworld, are used almost exclusively to maintain their shape. In the suits mandated on most ships, however, these glands cannot be easily filled or emptied. Another biological quirk of the Iloinu would be that none of their sensory organs are regularly exposed directly to air, as their translucent skin usually covers them much as a third eyelid covers the eyes of some aquatic animals.

Finally, Iloinu have within them an electrical organ not unlike that of an electric eel, but with two notable differences. First, it is, of course, equivalently scaled. Second, it has evolved over time, and with some guidance, to be generally more useful for non-predatory purposes, as the electrical gland can, in current generations of the species, also be used as a battery, though this is not without its flaws, as it remains a biological and comparatively unstable deliverance of current.

The Lasallinet are a bizarre species marked by their insectoid anatomy and metallic shells. Rather like snails, the shells are not part of the Lasallinet, but are instead generated around them, though in Lasallinet, the shells only develop once the Lasallin in question has reached its full size. Overall, the species itself has few biological quirks, with the sole exception of it being quite capable of functioning in an anaerobic environment for extended, surviving in even indefinite, periods of time, thanks to a combination of its cells possessing both mitochondriae and hydrogenosomes and its ability to enter a hibernation-like state similar to the Terran creature referred to as the tardigrade.

As an intelligent species, they are immensely fascinating to some niches of astrobiologists as they lack an identified homeworld, and existed in numerous systems even before they were elevated beyond simple rocket-based propulsion. Numerous theories have been proposed to the community at large, but none have gained widespread acceptance. This can be attributed both to the relative rarity of the species itself and their seeming apathy or obliviousness to such matters.

*If you have an idea for a race that you want to use, make it and let me know. I will decide if I will add it or not.*

LORE STUFF - FACTIONS

*Note - Large factions are ones with their own designated space, lay claim to multiple planets or systems. Small factions are ones that do not officially own their own space, may control one planet often control less*

Large Factions

The smallest Terran faction, but despite its size, it remains the most powerful. From its centre of power, Earth, it is supposed to act as a moderating force between the five mega corporations ever since its founding after the first Corporate War. The Terran Authority is supposed to keep the mega corporations in line with rules and regulations created to curb the power of the mega corporations, maintain a level of moral decency and keep them from engaging in full on war. However, through the years mega corporation influence has crept into its command structure, leading to deep rooted corruption. They are lead by Chief Commissioner Scottev Brigarc.

One of the five Terran mega corporations, Kuramoto Technologies is the leader of the Terran mega corporations in weapon technologies of all kinds. Due to their focus on weapon tech, Kuramoto Technologies is in an interesting position. Though being able to pay off officials of the Terran Authority, they still have to remain very careful with their research and actions. If they mess up even once, the other mega corporations can use it as a chance to force the Terran Authority to action against them or even as a reason to start another war. That said, they do still manage to get some illegal research and development done, mainly through their allies at White Dwarf Systems. Their current CEO is Taikan Kuramoto.

One of the five Terran mega corporations, Sydow Industries is the leader of the Terran mega corporations in ship construction and parts. Sydow Industries is the richest of the mega corporations, due to the fact they have all but a monopoly on ship sales among Terran groups. Unlike Kuramoto Technologies, their greatest rival, Sydow Industries doesn’t only create machines of death, and as such, they sell many types of ships to many different types of customers. Through strategic bribery, and such, Sydow also sells their ships on the black market. Often using piracy as the cover for their sales. Their currently CEO is Zan Sydow.

One of the five Terran mega corporations, the Paragon Collective is the leader of the Terran mega corporations in pharmaceuticals, and medical research. The Paragon Collective enjoys quite a bit of freedom from Terran Authority over sight, not due to bribing though, but to “good” bookkeeping and a good reputation. That said, like the other mega corporations, they do pursue less than legal research but with their “good” bookkeeping they are able to hide it with ease from the other corporations. They only sell however to those that they are legally allowed to sell to, and do all they can to keep their product off the black market as they fear that it would ruin their reputation and turn more attention to them from the Terran Authority. Their current CEO is Dr Alixandr Paragon.

One of the five Terran mega corporations, the Mika Combine is the leader of the Terran mega corporations in power generation and raw good manufacturing and extracting. Due to their more general specializations, the Mika Combine is the largest of the mega corporations, and has the biggest influence on the other mega corporations through trade as the others do purchase large quantities of materials from them. They often try and remain neutral with the other mega corporations as not to harm their business. Their current CEO is Zarinah Mika.

One of the five Terran mega corporations, White Dwarf Systems is the leader of the Terran mega corporations in robotics, AI, nanotech and cybernetics. Being the smallest of the five mega corporations. This combined with well placed bribes has lead to White Dwarf Systems being able to pursue almost any research they desire, and sell both on the open market and black market. They often work closely with Kuramoto Technologies, and will likely always side with them in conflicts. Their current CEO is Dr. Mirah Ender Muir, the granddaughter of the legendary Dr. Meyer Holmes Muir.

The ISA is a multi-racial alliance system, as such it technically isn’t as solid as other factions. Members are composed of single planet states, and former colonies of the larger factions. They keep their own planetary government, but are required to follow a simple set of rules which are fundamental to the alliance. Each member is ready and willing to go to war to defend other members from external threats. They also trade freely with each other and have laxed border control. It is from their unity were their strength is found, as such members are encouraged to pursue deeper understanding of each other, and if conflict does rise from within, a peaceful resolution is always sought out. The ISA technically has no single leader, as each planet leads themselves.

The Grand Saef’ Empire (the GSE) is one of the most powerful factions in the known galaxy. They operate under a feudal hierarchy, with the highest level being the Emperor or Empress. Under the Emperor or Empress are the individual leaders of each planet under the GSE, which are referred to as a Duke or Duchess. Under them are the Count and Countess of individual regions of a planet. Under them are the Viscounts or Viscountess’ of individual cities. Finally, with respect to governance under the Viscount or the Viscountess are the Lords and Ladies of each city district. There army and navy are something to be wary of if they are ever pushed to war. But they are not warlike, as such they do what they can to foster friendly relations and trade with other factions, which in turn makes them one of the richest. They are currently lead by Empress Gwendenyse Yrezras.

The Tri Star Imperium is the strongest faction in the known galaxy simply due to one of its founding members, the Elyzians. The Imperium was formed as a way to avoid conflict between the Elyzians, Myrians and the Clyh’, but over the years has come to accept other peoples under its banner. As such it is the oldest of the factions, and most advanced. If the Legion of the Yst can be compared to a sleeping giant, the Tri Star Imperium is a sleeping god. They have a lot of patience, but if pushed too far, they will strike fast and hard. They rarely trade technology and knowledge, simply because the Elyzians don’t want their tech falling into what they see as immature hands. But this doesn’t mean the Tri Star Imperium dislikes other factions and species, in fact, they keep friendly relations with every other faction, trading resources and such. You could probably assume that it is the Tri Star Imperium’s economy that dictates the standard currency used by the other factions, and that is Tri Star Gold, or more commonly known as Solars.

It should also be mentioned that the Tri Star Imperium has a rather complex government, filled with elected officials and officials who inherited their positions. They are run like the Elyzian Empire of old, with government at the city level run by a city's own elected council, government on the planetary level run by an elected council. Beyond the planetary level is when it starts getting busy. There are three governing bodies past the planetary level, the Parliament, the Senate, and the Council of. The Parliament is composed of elected officials from each planet, that are elected by each planet’s planetary council. The Senate is composed of the nobility and aristocrats of each planet. Finally, the Council of the Crown, they are composed of traditionally high ranking officials from planets with such officials, such as the Queen of Myra, the Emperor of Elyzia, the Rahzahkrii of Elyzia, and the Groveking of the Clyh’. Each of these three bodies are responsible for the passing of interplanetary laws, with the Parliament drafting them, the Senate approving or denying them before sending them either to the Council of the Crown or back to the Parliament. However, if the Senate appears to be stopping a law for personal gain, the Parliament has the right to skip sending the law to the Senate, and instead send it to the Council of the Crown for approval or denial. Also, in rating of power between members of the Tri Star Imperium, the Elyzians hold the majority of the power, with the Rahzahkrii of Elyzia acting as the military leader for the entire Imperium. The current leaders of the Tri Star Imperium are; the current Queen of Myra, Sei Nirdu'ul; the current Groveking of Y’ffre, Gloimir Duskblossom; the current Empress of Elyzia, Anahita Glynwarin; and the current Rahzahkrii of Elyzia, Elyon Virven. However, Elyon Virven disappeared a few years ago, and despite the Council of the Crown’s attempts to keep it secret, the word has gotten out as rumours.

The United Heas’i Hives is an alliance of Heas’i Hives from all across the galaxy. Don’t let the name fool you however, they are not as unified as you think since they are only a collection of individual hives that decided it would be in their best interest to share military resources. Each hive has their own ideals and such, leading to plenty of petty conflicts between them. As such, the United Heas’i Hives are almost always on the brink of civil war, with the only thing stopping them being the fact that no hive wants to draw first blood. That and they all know a civil war would weaken them to external threats, especially from the Praux Brotherhood. Much like the ISA, the United Heas’i Hives have no single leader.

The Legion of the Yst is the only Yst faction in existence. Due to the nature of the culture and tradition of the Yst, the Legion is one power that you do not want to anger. A true sleeping giant. While internal conflict is almost constant, they do still remain united as they believe that through conflict they become stronger. Changes of leaders are just as constant as their internal conflicts for the same reason. They keep this strength even without a navy due to their gateway magic, allowing them to strike at the heart of any who dare to anger them. The Legion rarely interacts with other factions in times of peace, as they are known xenophobes and are rarely ever seen working with other factions or races except for in times of war. They are currently lead by High General Rocus.

The Praux Brotherhood is the leading faction of the Praux. They are well known throughout the galaxy. The Brotherhood operates under an oligarchy, where the most influential and powerful members of Praux society are the only ones with any say. As such, corruption is rampant, and due to Praux greed, backstabbing both literally and figuratively is quite common. Despite this unstable political environment, the Brotherhood remains strongly united thanks to their hatred for the Saef’. Most trade done with the Praux Brotherhood is in slaves, as such the Praux Brotherhood makes use of private ships contracted for the specific purpose of raiding other factions, and capturing people for slavery. Of course, they make sure that if the contracted slavers get caught, they can’t be traced back to the Brotherhood. Their connection with the criminal underworld of the galaxy is probably there deadliest aspect, as they have the means of raising allies all over the galaxy if war comes. They are currently lead by the King-Elect Taulaukhuth Gathdayn.

Small Factions

Whisper is a secret society that originated many years ago on Earth. Not much is known about them to the public. In fact, the only thing known to the public across the galaxy are rumours, rumours about an organization that seeks the perfect weapon, to do what, not even the rumours say. Whisper is in fact looking to develop the perfect weapon, and then reproduce it so that they can protect the galaxy from itself, which is to say rule over it in a way where all races lack control. And if that means commit genocide, they will. Basically, a bunch of really smart, supremacist, power hungry control freaks, all of which are Terran.

Whisper does not have any planet under their control, but they do have bases hidden throughout terran space, and members in high ranking positions of each of the Terran factions. They also have some bases outside of Terran space, hidden, and agents in the hearts of other factions. They will do anything to achieve their goals, which makes them very dangerous. Whisper is lead by the CEO of White Dwarf Systems, Dr. Mirah Ender Muir, whose real name is actually Dr. Alessandra Peirce Grimm.

The Republic of Enchis (RE) is a small, single planet parliamentary republic. That single planet is Enchis, home to the Enchi and Oorjawashindi. The faction may be small, and despite not having a standing military, should not be underestimated. While the majority of the people of the RE are the Enchis, the military is composed of the dormant Oorjawashindi. Also, due to its position near the Tri Star Imperium, it is also guaranteed its independence by the Imperium. They are currently lead by Prime Minister Ayana.

The Court of Five is an alliance, and an agreement struck many years ago by the five greatest pirates in the galaxy. Each of the five, now called Pirate Kings/Queens, have their own personal fleet, and with their combined might they each secured a place to call home, though none of them have tried taking over a planet, they have settled for a moon, hollowed out asteroid, just stuff like that. Each ship that flies under one of the five swears an oath to their Pirate King/Queen, and follows the Code. The Code dictates what they can and cannot do. A big part of the Code is that they do not deal in slavery, and do not seek harm upon other pirates who follow the Code. Pirates that do not follow the Code end up hunted down often by the Court if they cause trouble for the Court. The five pirate kings/queens are as follows; Elizabeth Faelock, the Elyzian Siren; Aihi Klovah, the Savage Myrian; Wallace Bartholomew, the Terran Gambler; Yrthur Binnaris, the Saef’ Prince; and finally, Neamiroth, the Trickster Yst.

The Elyzian Knights are an ancient collection of knightly order hailing from Elyzia. Every branch of the Elyzian Knights are catch all term for the different knightly orders of Elyzia dedicated to a different deity of the Elyzian faith, and serve as protectors for their patron’s holy sites, and commanders in the military. Elyzian Knights are well known to be the most skilled bladed weapons in the galaxy and are respected throughout the galaxy. Elyzian Knights are not only known for their skill with blades, but also are known for their use of magic and psionics. However, an Elyzian Knight will not use magic and psionics, instead each one will chose one to study, and follow that path. The only exception being the Rahzahkrii of Elyzia, who is born with the talent for magic and psionics. Being knights, they all follow a strict code that dictates almost everything they do, when they wake up, when they eat, when they train, and so on. Elyzian knights are also expected to act with honour, kindness and mercy. Breaking their code has many different punishments, from loss of rank all the way to expulsion and exile. Speaking about ranks, the Elyzian Knights system of ranking is quite simple, as long as you remember that there are more than one order of knights within the Elyzian Knights.

The lowest rank in the Elyzian Knights is that of Initiate. Initiates are what they sound like, people who seek to join the Elyzian Knights. Initiates undergo intense training, and study. If they do not display a certain level of skill and knowledge (they need good marks) then they are sent home, though they can try again after a few years. If they do display the level of skill and knowledge that is required, then they are over halfway to becoming a squire. After a year of being an Initiate (post study), they are added to a list of Initiates that can become Squires. To achieve the rank of Squire however, they must be chosen by someone of the Knight rank, Grand Knight rank or even of the Paladin rank to serve as their Squire. As a Squire they are expected to follow their master into battle, and their master is expected to train them even more, and educate them further. Only when both their master and the Masters of the Order believe they are ready to become a Knight do they rise to the rank of Knight.

At the rank of Knight, one is expected to continue their training, and to take at least one Squire. Many Knights take multiple Squires over the years, while others prefer to focus their efforts and just take one. Only when one Squire under their charge becomes a Knight does the Knight that trained said Squire take their first step to rising to the rank of Grand Knight. Other requirements include five years of service, a significant amount of service to the people of Elyzia, and so on. The rank of Grand Knight is the highest that most members of the Elyzian Knights reach, as rising to the next rank of Paladin requires more intense training, many more years of service, an act of pure heroism and the approval of the Grandmaster/Grandmistress of the Order as well as the approval of the Rahzahkrii of Elyzia. There is also a restriction on how many Paladins can be present in an Order at a time, and that number is seven. Due to these requirements and restrictions, many who aim for the rank of paladin never make it.

Above the rank of Paladin is the rank of Seneschal. The Seneschal are comparable to Squires. While Squires are chosen from Initiates by Knights, Grand Knights and Paladins; Seneschals are chosen from Paladins by the Masters/Mistresses of the Order. While Squires are trained to become Knights, the Seneschals have little left to learn, and as such act more like advisors to an Order’s Masters/Mistresses. A Seneschal is also the heir of their respective Master/Mistress, so if their respective Master/Mistress dies or rises to the final rank of Grandmaster/Mistress, then the Seneschal will become the new Master/Mistress. The final rank that can be reached in the Elyzian Knights is that of Grandmaster/Grandmistress. Only one of these exists per order, and they are the oldest, and among the strongest members generally in the Elyzian Knights, with only one person being stronger. They are chosen by divine intervention by their orders patron from among the Masters/Mistresses. Usually this is through the Rahzahkrii of Elyzia. Finally, there is one more rank in the Elyzian Knights, but this is not a rank that one can reach through years of training, this is a rank that one is born into. At the head of the Elyzian Knights, is the Rahzahkrii of Elyzia, an Elyzian that is chosen by the goddess Elyzia (for whom the Elyzians get their name, and the name of their planet, she’s kinda the head of their pantheon, the goddess of balance, order, chaos, destruction and creation) to act as her sword, and the representative of the gods to the Elyzians. The Rahzahkrii of Elyzia serves as the Grandmaster/Grandmistress of the Order of Elyzia.
Each of the individual orders within the Elyzian Knights does have its own headquarters, and their own chapter houses. However, the headquarters of the Elyzian Knights as a whole would be the Grand Temple of Elyzia, which is found on the same grounds of the Imperial Palace.

*If you have an idea for a faction that you want to add, make it and let me know. I will decide if I will add it or not. Just remember, you're character can not be a current member of it*

OP Characters

Character App
Name: Ryker Arion
Age: 26
Race: Terran
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Pansexual
Bio: Born on the ISA world, Piyria, found in the outer limits of the known galaxy. Piyria has a rebutation among Terran colonies as being a hub for criminal activity. Smugglers, theives, pirates, black market dealers, and so on could all be found on Piyria. So, as you could probably figure out, Ryker had to be careful growing up. It didn't help that his mother happens to be one of the most influential and powerful black market dealer, who happened to specialize in weapons and the occasional space craft, on Piyria. Due to her fortune and position she was a target for her competators, and thus, Ryker was also often targetted. His mother taught him everything he knows, from haggling to marksmanship.

Oh, the reason he didn't grow up with his father was, well, he wasn't around. You see, Ryker's father had a one night fling with his mother and Ryker was the result. That said, Ryker knows exactly who his father is, but doesn't care really for trying to establish a relationship with him. Since, well, his father happens to be the Terran Pirate King, Wallace Bartholomew.

Eventually he came in contact with a certain Elyzian noble, who hired him for a job. After the job, he was rewarded the ship that would assist him in crafting his legend as a mercenary/pirate, and that ship is known as the Celestial Maiden and has been with him ever since. Character App
Name:Lorcan Virrieth
Age: Unknown
Race: Elyzian
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Bio: Unknown. The only person who knows his full story is himself and Ryker. Though what is known is that he claims to be a former Paladin of the Elyzian Knights who went down the path of psionics, specifically a Paladin of Anja (goddess of truth), and he does have the skills to prove it.
Appearance:
Image
He stands about 6' even

Weapon(s): A single Elyzian crafted sword
Abilities:
Note, Lorcan is stronger than your average Elyzian due to plot reasons.
Psionic Shield - Lorcan has through what he inists was constant practice and training, developed the ability to shield his mind from any unwelcomed thing of psionic nature.
Psionic Feedback - Another technique that Lorcan has developed. Psionic feedback only works on telepaths when they are communicating. He can listen in and hijack the telepathic connection, when hijacked he can then send a pulse of psionic energy strong enough to knock many telepaths unconcious and cause intense pain for others.
Retrocognition - Unlike most Elyzians who presue the path of psionics, including most amoung the Knights, Lorcan can see the past tied to certain items, locations and people. However, to do so requires him to enter a meditative state which puts him at risk.
Precognition - Like with Retrocognition, Lorcan is capable of doing something that the majority of Elyzians who presue the path of psionics can only imaging. Lorcan can see into the future. They are however only ever fragmented images and much like Retrocognition only come during a meditative state. Unlike Retrocognition though, they also sometimes come in the form of dreams.
Psionic Connection - Lorcan is capable of connecting to others telepathically. But unlike most telepaths who just can speak through their minds, Lorcan can also share images, symbols, sounds, and scents. Basically he can show others what he is preceiving at any time. But that is not where this stops. When he creates a connection, they may be temperoary for the purposes of reading and probing their mind.
Psionic Blade - Lorcan's most physically dangerous ability is his ability to focus psionic power around his sword, making it all the more deadly. With this psionic blade he can attack not only at close range but at range with psionic slashes that travel through the air to its target.
"Former" Elyzian Knight - Lorcan is apparently a former Elyzian Knight, and has the skills and knowledge to back up his claims. He is skilled with all sorts of bladed or blunt weapons, and like most Elyzian Knights refuses to pick up firearms. He is also skilled in hand to hand combat, making him a threat even without a blade or blunt object. He also has a vast knowledge about galactic history and the modern political climate. Also, like other Elyzian Knights, his reaction speed is far beyond normal, allowing him to dodge gun fire.
Crew Position: Just a regular hired gun

Optional Stuff:

Personality: To be seen.
Likes: Unknown
Dislikes: Unknown

Alignment: Appears to be Chaotic Good
Theme Song:TBA

A video game character just expressed my life. By saying 'I'm having trouble staying...' and then immediately sleeping like the dead. A video game character who fell off a bridge and hit her head on multiple rocks. That should sum things up in terms of how things are right now. In short, I'm still kind of out of it. There'll almost certainly be more later, but the easy one comes first.

Character App
Name: Charlotte Noble, and you knew it would happen. *winks*
Age: She stopped bothering to remember about two decades in.
Race: Human
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: She'd think about it if she thought anyone actually cared.
Bio: People who ask intrusive questions will find themselves gently steered to another topic of conversation. She's certainly not a hardened mercenary, but she's running from something. That much is obvious.
Appearance:
Image

Weapon(s): Weapons? Weapons are for everyone else. She's a doctor.
Abilities: Well, she's a doctor, as in an actual one who's freaking earned that title, thank you very much, and don't you forget it. (Not that she'd ever say that.) This requires medical skills and knowledge. If you don't believe that, feel free to ask for proof. Other than that, she has an excellent memory and is physically fit, with a remarkably high pain tolerance.
Crew Position: Doctor.

RP Sample: ...ha...
Did you read the Rules? What do you think?

Optional Stuff:

Personality: Mmm, trying to work out the intricacies of any given incarnation's personality is never something I like to do. Luckily it's in the 'optional' section.
Likes: I hate these...
Dislikes: ...so I won't do them.

Alignment: Alignment. Mm. Somewhere on the 'good' side. We'll default to 'neutral'.
Theme Song: Past

Ok, cool. Would I also be able to make a large-ish utility robot character, who has served as a constant companion to my character since childhood?

I sure hope the blurring in my head hasn't affected the quality of this app... too badly.

Character App
Name: Hania Seren, prefers to be called simply Seren
Age: It hardly matters.
Race: Elyzian
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: She's what I like to call a 'raging asexual'. More on that later.
Bio: If you can't figure it out yourself, it's not worth telling you--or is it? A little bit of research would reveal a bit of family history--her mother is alive, though her father received the Gift of Yvdohr. Two siblings do exist, though their whereabouts are fuzzy, and Seren is currently being... looked for. As to why? That's personal. Figure it out yourself, if you're so desperate to know--if you're even capable of simple deduction.
Appearance:
Image

Weapon(s): She has a rather large arsenal, fitting of her station. A proper list would take too long, but let's just say that if it exists, she probably has it somewhere.
Abilities: Very intelligent, to the point of Holmesian deductive skills, and an excellent shot with any ranged weapon. Far beyond humans in physical capacity--strength, speed, agility--and will use that to her advantage without a second thought. She considers magic to be a waste of time, taking too long to cast, and thus has directed her more unnatural abilities into the area of psionics. Psionic abilities are as follows:
Danger Intuition--usually only right before the threat would make itself known, giving her the chance to react a split-second sooner than others.
Enhanced Awareness--exactly what it says on the tin. Hypersensitivity, to the point of insanity.
Omnilingualism--like I need to explain.
Panmnesia--she remembers everything. Everything. Even things she'd rather forget...
Crew Position: Security

RP Sample: :p
Did you read the Rules? Figure it out, goldfish. :p

Optional Stuff:

Personality: She's a lovely person with the personality of sandpaper. Those of you who don't yet know will find out very soon. XD
Likes: *stares*
Dislikes: *stares*

Alignment: *stares*

Alright, here are the apps for Jeremy and Dagda. I made Jeremy's bio a spoiler because it looked a bit too long on my phone, but yeah, tell me if I need to change anything. Also, if the bit about the Warrior seems a bit out of nowhere, its because I thought of it about 10 hours after originally posting the app, and edited it in. I really hope its fine, because I enjoyed the idea.

Character App

Name: Jeremy Lindall

Age: 22

Race: Terran

Sex: Male

Sexual Orientation: Straight

Bio:
Jeremy was born on Earth in the year 2521 to a pair of talented engineers. For the first seven years of his life, he lived a pretty decent, if slightly impoverished life, with his family firmly planted in the lower-middle class, and quickly became just as interested in engineering as his parents.

However, things changed when his parents, seeing a chance to make a better life, signed up for a new colonisation project, offering their engineering talents. The colony was on a remote planet called S27439, or Veidal. Veidal was far from all other settled planets at the time, and it was understood that communication may be quite difficult due to the system being practically surrounded by various nebulae.

Despite all this, the first three years saw the settlement grow quite well, with multiple small cities springing up across the face of the planet. Things looked like they would only continue to improve.

And then the virus hit.

Suddenly, people were dying left and right, the skin, flesh and even bones turning into a terrifying, crystalline substance that continued to grow out of the body for about three metres. Most doctors died before they could even isolate the nature of the virus, and by the time the deaths stopped, only an estimated 300 people were still alive on the planet, all of whom had a natural immunity.

This led to a hard eight years for Jeremy, who had lived in a small farming community at the time of the infection. His only companion was a large robot created by his mother to help with the communities building and farming named Dagda, who became a major contributor to his survival, assisting him in fighting off hostile wildlife and maddened, desperate survivors. In the meantime, Jeremy would make his way to nearby cities and scavenge for materials to build up his own little base.

However, the native wildlife, aggressive survivors and even lack of resources paled in comparison to one threat, a figure who still haunts his memories to this day.

The Warrior.

A humanoid figure even taller than Dagda, covered head to toe in the same crystals that littered the fallen cities, and always wielding some form of crystalline melee weapon. It would appear randomly, often merely watching Jeremy and Dagda from the horizon, or from somewhere in the city. Occasionally though, it would move in and attack the pair, almost always resulting in complete and utter defeat for them. Despite the brutality with which it fought, however, it never seemed to stop them from escaping.

Finally, after eight years of stealing, killing, and desperately defending himself from the Warrior, a scavenger ship landed in a city near Jeremy's base. Nearly overwhelmed with emotion, he made his way to the curious crew, who had heard rumours about a colony that had apparently failed horribly on the planet, and warned them about the virus and the Warrior. After making sure that they were back aboard the ship, Jeremy made a deal with them. He would help them with the scavenging operation, particularly by leading them to some of the better hauls he had found during his explorations, and in return they would let him stay on their ship until their scavenging was finished and give him passage to a safe planet once it was over. The Warrior showed up far more frequently during the scavenging operation. However, for reasons no one could figure out, it never attacked them.

Finally, after a year of scavenging, they left the planet. For Jeremy though, it was more than that. He was leaving behind nine years of horror, guilt, and pain. He was leaving behind an apocalypse.

Over the next three and a half years, Jeremy and Dagda traveled from planet to planet, offering his services as a freelance engineer in return for passage. Not even he knows what the plan is, but maybe if he wanders enough, he'll find out.

The current ship, however, seemed a little more interesting. Maybe it was the unique nature of the ship itself, or maybe it was the... colourful... array of personalities within the crew.

Whatever the reason turned out to be in the end, though, maybe when the Celestial Maiden completes its current trip, Jeremy might just consider staying aboard for the next one.

Appearance:
Image

Weapon(s):
An old semi-automatic rifle he looted from a dead soldier on Veidal
A makeshift shock-spear which he has been continuously tinkering on since the fall of Veidal

Abilities:
Mechanical Expertise
He is very knowledgable about mechanical engineering, especially in making and programming robots and other similar designs.

Marksmanship
He is a decent shot with a rifle, having relied largely on his ability to hit a target to survive while on Veidal. He can't really use any other type of gun to save his life, but he's had enough practice with his rifle to know how to use it.

Survival Skills
His general survival skills have grown a lot over his nine years on the planet, leaving him with excessive knowledge and a talent for making his way around difficult terrain quickly.

Spearman
He is absurdly skilled with his shock-spear, having used it even more than his rifle while on Veidal. While he doesn't know any specific martial arts, he is more than capable of fighting off even some experts if he has his shock-spear with him. If he is wielding any polearm-like object other than his shock-spear, he will still have some talent. However, it will be nowhere near as good as with his shock-spear, of which he understands each and every minuscule detail, and has spent years tinkering on it to try and make it absolutely perfect.

Crew Position:
Engineer

RP Sample: I'm allowed to pass on this, right?

Did you read the Rules? Yep.

Optional Stuff:

Personality:
Jeremy is someone whose personality tends to... fluctuate... depending on how he feels about the people around him. For example, around most people, he tends to be fairly withdrawn and passive, rarely saying much and navigating conversation with as few words as possible. If he decides he enjoys a persons company, he will become a little louder, and a little less emotionless, even smiling a bit.

He is at his happiest when he is doing the things he loves, such as working on whatever mechanical project he's come up with now, or watching classic media from back when people were still speculating on what paths technology would take. During these times, he will become fairly loud and excitable, laughing and smiling like he did when he was a child. Unfortunately, he also becomes a bit of a smartass, leading many people to believe its not worth the trade.

However, everyone now and then his mind will go back to Veidal, back to the awful things he did, and his guilt will overwhelm him. The sight of crystals especially seems to send him into this state, bringing him back to the cities of Veidal, still covered in small crystalline spires, and watched over by the tall, crystalline being that still haunts his deepest nightmares.

Likes: Robots, mechanical engineering, old media of just about any kind.

Dislikes:
Crystals, plagues, people who are extremely rich.

Alignment: I guess we'll probably be figuring that out together...

Theme Song:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7I3V6YKJyOo

Character App

Name: DAGDA

Age: 14

Race: Robot

Sex: None, although its voice sounds somewhat male, and Jeremy calls it a 'he'.

Sexual Orientation: None.

Bio:
Dagda was a large robot created by Jeremy's mother to assist their small farming town in any way it can, whether by providing knowledge from its sizeable data banks, manual labour from its size and strength, or repelling Veidal's dangerous wildlife before it could harm the population of the town.

When the virus began to wipe out the colonists, Jeremy's mother altered Dagda's programming to make following Jeremy's commands his primary task. Over the years, it protected Jeremy and helped him build their own small base of operations, saving Jeremy's life more than a few times. In return, Jeremy did his own work on Dagda, slowly allowing it more and more independence from its initial programming, to the point that when they finally got off the planet, neither of them were quite sure it was even controlled by them anymore.

Nowadays, while not truly believing itself to be self aware, Dagda is able to talk and act like a normal human, seems to have some form of emotions, and is even more friendly and sociable to new people than Jeremy himself!

Appearance:
Image

Dagda is about 2.5 metres tall.

Weapon(s): None, although it is technically capable of using them if they are of a suitable size for him. It generally tends to fight with his own body, if he has to. It used to have a large sword when it and Jeremy were on Veidal. However, the sword was destroyed in one of their last fights against the Warrior.

Abilities:
Hydraulic Joints
Dagda is very strong, being made with the original intent of performing heavy labour and combating aggressive native wildlife.

Information Database
It has an extensive database on agriculture, survival tactics, and engineering, although it now has the ability to add new information to the database through its experiences. Unfortunately, due to not being the most advanced machine, Dagda will sometimes take a little while to locate or organise the information within the database.

Crew Position: Heavy labour.

RP Sample: nah.

Did you read the Rules? yeah.

Optional Stuff:

Personality: While a relatively recent addition to its programming, Dagda has begun the formation of an interesting personality for itself. It has particularly come to enjoy playful teasing, along with teaching people information. It's actually gotten to the point where its even more friendly than Jeremy much of the time.

Likes: Teaching, teasing, learning, putting its knowledge to use.

Dislikes: People who spread false information, people who do not see the value in knowledge.

Character App
Name: Berkton Kaz'arakh Tusia (Alias is "Kaz")
Age: 68
Race: Praux
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Bio: Kas has been born a slave in the home planet of the Praux, Pertinax. He was subjected to heavy labour during his early years. Being used to carry cargo throughout the snowy, volcanic climate of his planet. Although everything changed when he managed to get his hands on a book about cartographical mathematics in Terran. And being the little curious Prauxian that he is, he spent his free time looking at maps of Earth, studying various solar systems and mastering the different terrains of other inter-planetary systems. His knowledge began to evolve from a mindset of a slave and into that of an expert navigator. He began to salvage other Terran books of knowledge to feed his never-ending hunger for navigation.

He eventually had to put his skills to the test when his owners found out that he has been illegally storing cargo in his little slave den. And with this, he made his escape from his old home.

It would be decades later when he would be found in a desert planet far away in the edges of Praux control. It was in this desert planet that he started to grow up and expand his basket of knowledge again. Not only did he started studying advanced cartography but he studied early Terran history and space navigation too. He made his living off by selling his abilities as a guide and ship helmsman for various factions and such, utilizing his knowledge to profit him. This is also the time when he started getting his hands on dirty politics, where he learned that killing can go side-by-side with formal business ordeals. And thus, Kas' current self is born.

Though we may never actually know what his backstory is, since the one I just told you is from a local tavern's drunkard's perspective. One thing is for sure though, he saw potential when he manage to catch news of the recruitment programme for the Celestial Maiden.
