Hail freedom! Thanks for paving the way, but yeah, I got a broke-ass company that was using the last M16A2's still at Jackson.

My BCT SGM wouldn't stop bothering me at the heavy weapons range after I kept getting hits with the practice AT4. It was amusing at first, then it got annoying, cus he kept calling me up to do it. Again. And again. And again.

Idk to what degree you are allowed things on your M4s, if there's like an official list or smthng, but I had stuck a GP-25 pad on my AK-74M for the extra LoP, which helped a bit. I know theres plenty of aftermarket butt pad spacers for longman like you and I.

What notch do you keep yours at? I usually keep mine at 4/5 depending on what I wear. 3 if I'm wearing gear.

In my extensive experience of "indoor marksmanship training" and "10 days on PTAD" I keep it at the one before full extension. Presumably I will do the same if/when I am issued an M4 for real. I did find the M16A4 rather front-heavy though.

I just fully extend it and learned how to deal with that, cus I was with an armored cav unit, stuck in the back of a 1068, so if you had to hold your weapon with you, you'd most likely have it fully collapsed, until you go out, and then it's just a matter of pulling it til it stops.

Purpelia does not reflect my actual world views. In fact, the vast majority of Purpelian cannon is meant to shock and thus deliberately insane. I just like playing with the idea of a country of madmen utterly convinced that everyone else are the barbarians. So play along or not but don't ever think it's for real.

I usually add a foregrip (or forepenis if you are a true ammosexual) on front-heavy rifles like the A4 or piston-operated ARs. It really does help fool your mind into thinking it feels lighter.

Lambast me for bringing up airsoft in a military realism thread, but most of the time I keep the stock on my M4 replica at about the third or fourth adjustment slot. I'm about 6'1-6'2, and this feels pretty comfortable for me with the way I usually stand and engage players. Typically I put my torso as perpendicular to the opposite team as is feasible, my reasoning that if and when I enlist* and start wearing real body armor with real SAPI plates, I'd want as much of that plate facing the enemy as I can get, to maximize coverage--a front plate isn't going to help me if I get shot standing sideways.

That being said, my experience with "firefights" is purely limited to the airsoft field, where players usually don't have motorized transport or air support, and our guns and gear are much lighter than the real-world equivalents; while the replicas are 1:1 size-wise, my fake!M4 only weighs 5-and-a-halfish pounds bare (which goes up to about 7 lbs with a rail-mounted M203 replica), and my vest has never weighed more than 20 pounds. Quite a far cry from the 60+ pounds of a real combat load.

*I have some serious weight to lose before that happens though; I've got about a hundred extra pounds that shouldn't be there

Disregard most NS stats, I don't play by those rules.

No lambasting, you're correct in the way you train to shoot. Your DS will tell you to do the same if they have Infantry training and are any good. Your suspicions are also correct, it's a lot harder to put the M4 on target if you're a big person and that's actually probably because of the lack of weight. I'm used to firing a longer barreled, heavier weapon, the M16. I'm also used to being able to keep my face somewhere near the very end of the buttstock. I keep my sight picture as small as possible to increase accuracy of the shots I take. There's a problem there though: M16 is long, but M4 is not. It's shorter in the stock and it's shorter in the handrails, so I can't get a good hold on it. It just feels too small in my hands and I end up having to reset myself more often than not. It also jumps like a sunnuva bitch too compared to the heavier M16, recoil adapter or not.
