What's your favorite US State?

Postby Eisen Wolf Reich » Wed Oct 11, 2017 1:12 pm

Pretty simple. What's your favorite US state?

Mine is Ohio, Ohio is the best state. Why?

First man on the moon, from Ohio

The Wright brothers, from my home town Dayton Ohio.

Seven US presidents are from Ohio

Some well-known personalities were born in Ohio. Among them Steven Spielberg, Paul Newman, Annie Oakley, Arsenio Hall and Clark Gable.

Ohio was the first state to protect working women

Ohio created the hot dog

Cleveland Ohio was the first city to be electrically lit.

Again, Ohio has a lot of accomplishments, Ohio also was a big help during the civil war, Its location was logistically important during the war, and it gave more soldiers per capita than any other union state. Also, the lead union general was from Ohio.

The West won the world not by the superiority of its ideas or values or religion … but rather by its superiority in applying organized violence. Westerners often forget this fact; non-Westerners never do.

The most fundamental problem of politics is not the control of wickedness but the limitation of righteousness.

Florida is the only place where I've seen trailer parks, nursing homes, McMansions, golf courses, alligators, and title loan stores all in the same block.

I don't like one particular state. I do like certain things about certain states. I adore spending time in Eureka Springs, AR. Love San Diego weather, CA. Enjoy Maine food, sea food rules! Pizza from NYC, NY. Beignettes from the Cafe Du Monde and the Garden District, in New Orleans, LA. Homemade ice cream from Lawrence, KS...

Oregon is pretty nice. Portland is a little overrated, overall, though. Vermont was beautiful, I had the pleasure of driving from Boston to Montreal and I spent a night in Vermont. Absolutely gorgeous during the summer.

Yea you're right,

It's a satellite state, it hasn't fully been integrated yet.

I imagine autumn is when Vermont is really beautiful! All those reds, oranges, golds and greens!

We're seeing that where I am. I've lived in PHX most of my life so I never saw much autumn. Here in Flagstaff, though, the autumn foliage is stunning.

Nature is probably the biggest reason.
The others include guns, and that it's where I live.

There are pros and cons to Arkansas.

AR has some breathtaking sights. Great areas for fishing and water sports in North Central AR. Art and shopping in Bentonville. Haunted tours and cultural places in Eureka Springs. Diamond hunting... The Natural State has its perks.

I've only been to the Ozarks in North Arkansas. It was nice, although there were a disturbing amount of men missing teeth. :p

Indeed. I forgot to mention the Arch in St. Louis, MO. Loved the place.

The Ozarks... I live in the Ozarks and can attest to your sightings, unfortunately. BBQ is awesome here too. And I have fallen in love with desserts like Vinegar pie and Possum pie. Check those out if you ever can. :p
