Also again, you would rather have no guaranteed right of free speech, right of religion, and assembly, allow soldiers to take your house for military purposes during peacetime, and let police search and seized anytime they want. What if a republican supporters wished to rally and they had a permit to rally, the state would instantly be able to arrest them all just for showing up. Sounds undemocratic, against the rights of the people, and only for your idea of a tyranny by majority for your "liberal state".

As for the question is the USA developed, It is, it's much better than many other countries and crime and violence shouldn't affect how a country is deemed developed or not.

I think the United States like all societies is in motion, what logic governs the movement of society? It is followed most easily by time, time measured in the sense of investment and involvement, proportion of available energy and work engaged, where is it distributed and where is it coming from? In the United States we are very free, almost totally free to control how we allocate our time, and as for where it is distributed? We don't realize in the US, perhaps it would scare many anxious conservatives, the unity of our cultural sphere is actually very strong, the area is well-defined and has the usership of most of the population: Twitter, Facebook, the mainstream internet are very widely used by all sectors of the population and everybody goes there looking to spend their time; the question is, how do people feel about it and what is their interest in the first place? It seems to me like there is a lot of latent aggression involved, people go to this cultural sphere of the internet hoping they will find the resolution to conflicts and unresolved decisions and looking for updates, on the internet people are trying to find information which they use to evaluate themselves as a person, the state of their life as it relates to being a socially-defined creature. And how is this all working out? This situation is one of very fluid social mobility, many people are following along believing that everything, anything can change, but this fluid situation is also aggravating, it is inherently unstable and it lends itself to more of the checking, keeping track, and especially to perceiving dangers in the potential fluidity of the system.

I think it is debatable, this can either be the next frontier challenge of a developed society where industrialization has truly usurped many of the original pain/pleasure systems of human nature, or it is a social crisis obstacle to modernity, an unexpected backlash of fluctuating technology that needs to be overcome if we will be able to achieve more advanced levels of biological health and sophistication.

We have one of the strongest, if not the strongest military in the world, we have one of the highest rates of education and literacy in the world, our infrastructure is some of the best in the world, and despite all of its problems, our healthcare is some of the best in the world. If you think the U.S. is not a developed country, the proof is on you to show where the United States is underdeveloped. Does she have her problems? Poverty? Illiteracy among some? Yes. But the stats still stand.

It's in our Constitution

“The 13th Amendment states that "neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for a crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction." From the article. Furthermore, specific states have stopped running penal labor, with Alabama being the last to stop it in the mid-1920s. Read the articles you post.

To call penal labour "slavery" is a stretch too far.

The right to own a gun in the United States is protected by the Second Amendment of the Constitution which allows the right to keep and bear arms. It's literally been a part of the United States history

Even with the cuts we’re still the best in the world.

We’re 7th in the world, actually.

And #3 in Infrastructure overall.

Do some research instead of just throwing down poorly-thought and poorly-edited responses that show no actual effort.

if I were to create a fictional developed country in a work of fiction and then said "in the country there is very high gun crime rates" you'd probably (and correctly) respond by saying...

"Wait a minute, how can a country be developed and still have high gun crime rates?"

See the issue?

I don't think any one person would say that. At least I certainly wouldn't.

Still very much unlike North Korea. Do we have a hereditary dictator? A legally-enforced cult of personality? A police force that will torture you to death for petty theft? Are we a hermit kingdom with little travel in or out? Are we posturing against a global superpower with nuclear weapons? Were we formerly supported by a now-defunct state?

Not to mention that the former isn't even true

See, here's what worries me about this - what is sexist?

I consider sexist to be preferential or detrimental treatment based on one's sex or gender. Egalitarian approaches to gender are the opposite of sexism. I endorse such egalitarian approaches.

Except, mine is a minority view. A very interesting study which used scripted action to ensure benevolent sexism, hostile sexism, and egalitarian approaches found that people who fail to be sexist against men and in favor of women are viewed as sexist. That's right - an egalitarian approach IS viewed as sexist in our society.

And you want to criminalize people who are viewed by society as sexist. That's a problem - given the only way not to be viewed as sexist is to be sexist.

This sounds very interesting. Do you have a link to the study, by any chance?

Happy to help.

Two studies demonstrated that lay people misperceive the relationship between hostile sexism
(HS) and benevolent sexism (BS) in men, but not in women. While men's endorsement of BS is viewed as
a sign of a univalently positive attitude towards women, their rejection of BS is perceived as a sign of
univalent sexist antipathy. Low BS men were judged as more hostile towards women than high BS men,
suggesting that perceivers inferred that low BS men were indeed misogynists. Negative evaluations were
reduced when men's rejection of BS was attributed to egalitarian values, supporting the hypothesis that
ambiguity about the motivations for low BS in men was partially responsible for the attribution of hostile
sexist attitudes to low BS men.

Failing to show adequate levels of benevolent sexism towards women is viewed as hostility. Makes you wonder where the sexism truly points, when failure to give sexist preference to women is generally viewed as sexism. Kind of reminds me how peasants were considered when they failed to give the what was considered due deference to the royalty - it was because they were horrible peasants.

I'm not saying the scenario is exactly the same - just that it reminds me of such.

The Parkus Empire: Being serious on NSG is like wearing a suit to a nude beach.
New Kereptica: Since power is changed energy over time, an increase in power would mean, in this case, an increase in energy. As energy is equivalent to mass and the density of the government is static, the volume of the government must increase.
