Name: Roselin "Rose" Murphy
Age: 14
Sex: Female
Appearance: Rose stands at about 5' 3'' inches and looks rather thin and lanky for someone her height, with her weight around 90 pounds. Her face is soft and pale like the rest of her and has an androgynous shape to it, with a number of faint, golden freckles dotting both her thin cheeks and her small nose. Her lips are almost indiscernible from the rest of her face, being nearly as pale. Only a pair of dimples, forming whenever she smiles - seldom as that is - show she even has her lips. Her eyes are bright, wide, and hazel in color. Her hair, shoulder length and curly, is a dark reddish-brown. She commonly wears poor, dirtied, tattered excuses for clothing that may as well have been glorified rags (not necessarily because of her economic status, but because of her usual misadventures from home), and her skin and face often matches her wardrobe.
Personality: Rose is, for lack of better words, an oddball. Shy, harsh, and reclusive around strangers and those she perceives as more popular, she's all the same outgoing and kind to those she happens to see as like her: a social outcast, estranged from those she, if she followed traditional values, would be closest to. She's tomboyish and acts rugged and rebellious, three traits she gained from her parents and her older, off-to-college brother.
Bio: Born in a poorer part of Bedfield, Kansas, Rose was the second of two children to be born to Tom and Mary Murphy, a pair of poor pop-and-mom shop owners who barely brought in enough to keep them in their home. The poor living conditions, as they naturally tend to do, led to and continue to lead a brutal home life for the teenager. By extent of this, Rose, like her brother, Blake, both struggled through the pains of rampant abuse, neglect, and often hunger. Things weren't much better when she could escape from this horrid living condition at school; she was frequently ostracized by most of her peers, bar a few she could actually call "friend". She could hardly find it in her heart to trust any that tried to actually reach out to her, and she clung closely to those few that did.

Her problems only became exacerbated into middle school, when by the end of 7th grade, her brother graduated and was able to leave to a small community college. She fell into a deeper spiral of depression and isolation, her only saving grace being her few friends and her continual escapes into the day and night thanks to her parents' increasing neglect. She seemed to get a bit more popular with some kids in the 8th grade; due to pity or actual friendliness, she didn't know. It took time, but she managed to accept them. Even with the pains of her parents and the severe abandonment she was ever terrified of, Rose pushed on into the 9th grade, finishing off the school year strong enough for someone in her predicament.

Eh, on the one hand you've got mental and physical abuse (like screaming or hitting) and on the other you've got the kid being improperly cared for (I.E. not fed often enough, improperly clothed, etc.). Hopefully that helps!

Okay, I get it now.

My mental image of neglect is basically 'welp, here you go, children, go off and fend for yourselves', like, complete and total neglect. It's not an area I know that much about; something I should look into at some point, really... I know plenty about most of the other types of abuse, but I always sort of... well, I suppose I neglected researching neglect, you could say.

Appearance:

Paul is a well dressed boy, often sporting some form of jumper, or a blazer atop a shirt. A blonde mop sat atop his head, and although he did try and get a nice haircut it never lasted. He was relatively tall and thin.

Personality: Paul was not an incredibly happy person. From years of bullying, he found himself to be a sarcastic cynic who hardly trusted anybody. Any attempt at interaction with him is usually met with distrust and cynicism, leading to him having very little friends - only those who really tried would be able to crack him, at which point he would likely be a lot friendlier.
Bio: Born in southern England, 1976, Paul had a wonderful family. His early childhood was some of his best years, with his father and his mother together in happiness. All was well.

When he was six years old, his father left Great Britain and fought in the Falklands war. When he came back, he was a changed man. Far from the fun-loving father he used to be, his father became was plagued with post-traumatic stress. And that did not do many favours for his family.

He grew dis-attached with his father as he grew up, and his father became further and further reclused. To top it all off, nobody exactly liked him as he entered secondary school, and they made sure he knew. Of course, Paul wasn't one to take things lying down, but eventually it became hard to keep trying.

Instead, he just became sarcastic. A coping method, if you will - it got him a few laughs from some, a few fists from others - but it helped him keep sane, per se. But those that laughed with him, he learnt the hard way, were never his friends.

Soon enough, his mother landed a job in the United States - Wichita, to be specific. Apathetic to such a move, Paul didn't resist it. And soon enough, they arrived in a small town in Kansas - Bedfield. (This is WIP, I'm defo gonna expand on it a bit more when I have time.)
Strengths:
- Sarcastic. As weird of a strength it might be, it's often a good coping method for him.
- Intelligent. He knows his stuff.
- Cynical. He'll try and spot what most are missing, and question things he thinks should be questioned.
Weaknesses:
- Cynical. It's a double edged sword - he has a firm belief in reality, and anything supernatural just simply isn't real.
- The tall fall hard. If his belief in reality is broken, he will be broken. Sarcasm can't deal with everything.
- Not a fighter. If, for whatever reason, he needs to fight - you can't count on him.
Quirks: Paul likes to 'believe' in fringe political beliefs just to screw with people. Hate communists? He'll pretend to be a communist. Hate racists? He'll pretend to be a racist. He says it's a devils advocate thing to make people look at all sides, but in reality he likes to watch people spew their politics.
Worst Fears: Solitude. Not just being locked in his room, but simply nobody else being around. Across the globe. He couldn't deal with that. At the same time, he's terribly scared of drowning - especially considering he cannot swim.

Since none of the usual characters are going to work here, I'll take a little while to come up with something that hopefully isn't too much of a stock horror character
