URSA Sevens 2 | International LARFC Lions Sevens
OOC thread

Yeah, this fall brings double fun in Lisander!

So, let me explain. URSA Sevens returns, now established itself in the NSRB Sevens Series. And together with URSA Sevens, the major invitational sevens of Lisander is turning international too. Consider this as the Lisander signup to URSA Sevens.

The LARFC Lions Sevens is a Sevens tournament realized every summer in Linville, a city of the Greater Soria. Linville Athletic RFC is one of the founder teams of the URSA, but in the last years, were supporters of amateur rugby, what caused a grudge with LRU. In fact, they had banned professional teams from club events, but after the success of Lisander Professional Rugby Plan and general elections, the new board reconsidered the position of the club and adopted the professionalism, although with some reservations.

Their event, the Lions Sevens, gather together amateur teams, professionals, social clubs, company staff teams, and even players who form a team on the morning of the tournament, without ever having seen each other before (The Harlequins, currently in the PRO12, were born this way in the summer of three years ago).

IC Schedule:
Image

Experience:
All of you know me. I'm your NSRB acting president and one of the biggest rugby wackos of these boards. I have scorinated URSA Sevens 1 before, as well as managing Rugby Lisander and its puppets, in special, Alice Bay.

Scorination:
Xkoranate, using Rugby Sevens Formula. Depending on the date of the event, we'll have cutoffs around 21h GMT.

Format:
URSA Sevens:
  • There will be a minimum 16 nations. In Group Stage, 3 points will
be awarded for a win, 2 for a draw, 1 for a loss and 0
    for no show.
  • The groups will be formed based on the number of signups. Cup (named "Princess Cup" from this season ), Plate, and Bowl will be contested.

LARFC Lions Sevens:
  • Any even number, but the number of teams per nation will be limited to four (except, of course, Lisander). If an even number couldn't be reached, mixed-nation teams will be allowed¹.
  • National teams who failed to apply for URSA Sevens can participate in Lions Sevens, since it's an open tournament.
  • The tournament will be played in knockout rounds until the Top 16 is reached. The Top 16 will be placed in four groups to play in a round-robin. The four group winners will play knockout rounds.

Rankings / Roleplay Bonus:
For the URSA Sevens, the most recent NSRB Rugby Sevens Rankings will be used.
For LARFC Lions Sevens, I'll require at least a line of info about the team, and based on this, the teams will be ranked between "Sunday League players", "Amateurs", "Elite Teams" and other arbitrary levels based only on your own RP quality.
"Penguins RFC are the most sucessful Sevens side in Nationstonia"

"The Awesomers Rugby are seven guys (4 Albericans and 3 Egonesians) who met early in the pub and paid the tournament fee with L$ 50 in coins."

"VNRCBFF RFC, is short for Vehicle National Register Center of Bravestan, Fourth Floor Rugby Team. Apart from their name, they are between the best teams in Bravestan Amateur Leagues"

The deadline for signups (for both tournaments) is (tentatively) October 20th.

NOTES
¹ I'll excepcionally allow other nations to impersonate Lisander nationals in roleplays to complete teams in LARFC Sevens, provided they're not actual players in any of previous posted teams. Lisanderian names are usually formed by mixing Portuguese, French or English given names and surnames. Names like Pedro Armignac, Henry Velasquez, Jean Fuente or Pierre Vieira are commonly accepted.

The Darmeni National Sevens team will participate in the URSA Sevens. Darmen's three participants in the LARFC Sevens are the following professional franchises:
  • Liverpool RFU
  • Western Border Warriors
  • Northeastern Sharks
While all three franchises are fully professional and play in the National Rugby Championship, their 12 player rosters will draw heavily from the younger members of their team.

LARFC Sevens - Lisander confirmed teams, Part 1

Linville Athletic RFC - The Hosts of the tournament. A team composed of talented semi-pro player, but still not a favourite to the title, since Linville Athletic still have some way before getting into the level of the PRO12 Teams.
NTIXIS Harlequins - NTIXIS, the multi-purpose investment fund known by sponsoring Harlequins, field a team composed of the elite of Lisanderian Rugby, including Harlequins and other PRO12. Title contenders.
4th Navy Officers Club (QCA) - The 4th Navy Officers team is composed by, as the name says, Navy Officers. This team will count with an important presence. His Highness the Sovereign Prince of Lisander, former College player, as Scrum-Half. But his experience isn't enough to hold this team. They aren't a good team, being expected only to pass the first round and nothing more.

URSA sevens as Alpine Union

LARFC sevens:

Linlithgow Warriors: The Warriors are one of the top rugby 7s team in the Alpine Union
Stade aquitain Beaumont: Located in the Republic of Aquitaine-Languedoc, Stade aquitain Beaumont is also one of the top rugby 7s team in the Alpine Union

Because the top rugby 7s championship in the Alpine Union is relatively weak compared to other nations (and I don't have time to make up a lot of new players), we only send two teams.
Ranks:
Hockey: 15th | American Football: 8th | Baseball: 10th | Association Football: 65th | Rugby Union: 23rd

Champions: World Bowl XXXII
Runner Up: WCoH 36
3rd Place:
4th Place: WJHC 12, Independents Cup 4, Handball World Cup 21

For the URSA Sevens, I am of course signing up as Elejamie.

For the LARFC Sevens, I am signing up two all-star teams made up of university rugby players: The Eastern EU Elephants and the Western EU Elites. Both sides are technically amateur but, due to the massive popularity of university rugby (which is a bit like college football in the USA but instead of Bowls or massive stadiums there's an international tour during the Summer), they are both still fairly elite opponents.

In for both URSA Sevens and LARFC Sevens.

The two teams participating in LARFC Sevens are the two highest Fleftic teams in the recently concluded season of the Rugby Coalition, a league composed of teams from Abanhfleft, Pridnestrovia, Oontaz, and Copper Cuprum. The aforementioned two teams are:

San Seriffe Bad Hombres, based in the city of Veces Nuevo Romano in San Seriffe Province, and
Haranguer Death Worms, based in the city of Haranguer in Mezaladbyi Province

Both teams are newly established rugby union franchises formed especially for the Rugby Coalition but the future looks bright for these two sides. Their rugby sevens roster will be drawn from their youth squads, with some of the senior players making the trip as staff assistants.

Consider Islana in for both.

For LARFC, only 2 Lunigan orginizations were worthy enough: Moaria Gauntlet and Tillers. That's, er, that's about it...

The Goats are in for URSA.

For the LARFC sevens, we will be submitting three teams:

AVRU (Alpen Valley Rugby Union) All Stars - The best players of the Union as voted on by their fellow players. The AVRU is the top professional RFC union in the Confederacy of Neu Engollon. They pull players from the top Universities and minor club teams around the nation as well as recruiting foreign talent from equivalent unions outside of the Confederacy.
They are ready to take on the best the multiverse has to offer.

BDI 'Breu Demons' - A team of the best players collected from the Burgunden Diversified Industries rugby union. BDI is the largest industry conglomerate in Neu Engollon, and possibly all of Teremara and its divisions include casinos, tech companies, hotels, sports teams, breueries (breweries), and mineral resource concerns. The divisions of BDI each field a rugby team for the BDI sevens and union seasons.

NECA (Neu Engollian Collegiate Association) All Stars - The best players from the top University rugby programs across the Confederacy, as selected by a specially appointed NECA committee with advisory from the AVRU.

LARFC application

The Volcane Knights are one of the best teams in Arcadia. While they do not usually take part in 7s tournaments, this was granted as an exception, they are one of the few domestic teams to play internationally and have competed against teams from all across the empire. While not one of Arcadia's international team they earned the ability only a few domestic teams have to play abroad.

As traveling between realms is still an experimental affair to the masses, the Hinodejin Empire is only capable of sending their national team to the URSA, nicknamed the Revenants. It's probably not a really good team, rugby isn't quite as popular and the team has yet to play a match against another nation, after all.

Would like to submit the following teams for the LARFC Sevens:
New Sydney Waratahs U20's - A squad of selected development players from the A-league's top side.
Kilbarrack Rebels U20's - A squad of selected development players from the Kilbarrack representatives in the A-league.
Bay Brew's Ballers - A team of average guys picked to make a team as a publicity move by a Kiaser brewery.

The following teams I'd like to submit under the banner of New South Munster (previously confirmed puppet). If numbers do not suit, cut as you please, I am very unlikely to RP these teams:
Cork Crusaders - One of the 7 teams from the NSM 7's Pro-League, used to promote fluid back play in a region famous for physical forward based rugby.
Tipperary Titans - One of the 7 teams from the NSM 7's Pro-League, used to promote fluid back play in a region famous for physical forward based rugby.
Limerick Lions - One of the 7 teams from the NSM 7's Pro-League, used to promote fluid back play in a region famous for physical forward based rugby.

Frenline Delpha signs up for the URSA 7s. If I can RP, that'd be great.

Also, I have two teams for the LARFC:

Port Peak Ice Cranes: These brutes are named after the legendary Ice Crane that is rumored to live on the top of Mount Peak. This fearsome monstrosity is rumored to rip anything that invades its territory to shreds and is lethal when it sets its eyes on prey, much like this team. They like to play more defensively and run out the clock on their opponent.

Soccater DiamondBacks: Unlike the Port Peak Ice Cranes, this team doesn't live up to their namesake, being a terrible defensive team with a focus on overpowering offense. Scores run high with these guys, and most games come down to just a few point.
I don't know how long I'll be back, but I just thought I'd stop in and say hi, at least.

The co-workers were reluctant at first but then realised it was an once in a lifetime opportunity to prove their worth. They informed the organisation's leaders that they would be partaking in the competition and now they have the organisation's full support, hence the name, Qurijan Skyscraper Window Cleaners Organisation.

Al-Faqishtun R7: 14 Philistine immigrants decided to play for the tournament after stealing a leaflet from some window workers, lol.

Bvriania signing up for the URSA Sevens.

Also for the LARFC Sevens will be Brian's Burger Boys. The fast food chain is looking the spread the name internationally, and what better way than showing up at competitions? The team consists mostly of employees who've watched more of the sport than played it, but are always up for a bonus.
