In the Evac zone? So long as they had some form of permit or receipt.

So would they require a permit for weapons that require permits by NY law? Or the laws of the state they came from?

*Edit* Nevermind just looked it up, NY law does not require permit to carry rifles. Would they still ask for some kind of ID though?

In order to keep the weapon you need proof that the rifle is yours, as well as proof that you can use it. A weapon permit is what lets you keep it as you walk into the evac zone. If the state doesn't give a permit, than you're out of luck.

Well, looks like James will be losing his rifle soon. He wouldn't have the foresight to snag a bill of sale when he got it from his parent's place. Still, he's smart, he'll find a replacement.

Biography:

Kat was born outside of Yekaterinburg in a small dacha, owned by her father who worked for the KGB, then FSB; her mother worked in a clothing factory before taking up work as a secretary when Kat was 4 years old. The family then moved to Volgograd for a time, her father participating in the First and Second Chechen Wars. This time period was much a blur to Kat now, only vague recollections of harsh winters at the family Dacha in the Urals, and spending summers at the beaches of the Black Sea. But when you get to about age 9 in Kat's mind the memories become much more vivid. Her father always stern, having wanted a boy, and accordingly treating her as such. So she developed the musculature of a woman who did labor and hard work. Much to the chagrin of her mother who advocated her to pursue a tertiary education.

At the age of 17 she was conscripted into the Russian Armed Forces. Serving with the Russian Ground Forces she proved apt. Her father having nurtured a sense of independence, adventure, and belief in the cause of the Motherland. Her father's influence also helped her along. She graduated from Frunze with a commission in the Ground Forces after being involved with actions in the 2008 Russian-Georgian War. Her later military career was of the more shady kind. Her mother was often kept in the dark deliberately. If anything her father was the only one who knew that his daughter may have been involved with Vympel. At any rate she doesn't talk about it much. The death of her father, under unclear circumstances in 2014 led to her rapid departure from the military. At which point she enrolled in the Saint Petersburg State Medical University. Having credentials already attained via the Kirov Medical Military Academy during her years of service. There she studied rigorously for three years, earning a doctorate in general medical practice and surgery. At which point she moved to the United States just before the outbreak of the East Nile Virus.

missing an eyebrow.

Name: Francis E. Quinn, Esquire
Gender: Male
Age: 45
Description: 190 CM tall, 78 KG, medium build, wearing an old dress shirt and ripped up suit pants, seems to have scars and bruises from various fights on his arms.
Occupation: [/b Former lawyer and police officer, S.W.A.T. sniper.
[b]Carry Weight:
30 KG
Strengths: Intelligence, aiming, knowledge chemistry and medicine, stamina, endurance, flexibility, agility.
Weaknesses: Paranoia.
Personal Belongings:PSG1 Sniper Rifle[10 KG], Canned Ham [0.50 KG], KA-BAR Combat Knife [0.32 KG], Bread [0.40 KG], Backpack [0.3 KG (wild guess)], Tactical Baton [1 KG], 1 Litre of Bottled Water [1 KG], Blank notebook (A4 format) [0.21 KG], Gas Mask [0.40 KG] Detachable "SNIPER AT WORK" sign previously used by the Provisional Irish Republican Army [2 KG]
Biography:

It was 10 PM in Hampstead, New York. Echoes of a screaming woman could be heard from the hospital nearby. It was a mother giving birth to a child.
He was an Irish boy, pretty big for his age. They named him Francis Quinn. Francis was a quiet kid in school. He despised the other children, feeling as they're not on his intellectual level.
He was, at first, a bully, but later stopped it after realizing how bad it was. While he was in Elementary school, he developed a significant enthusiasm about the law.

Fast forward to when he was in his 20's, and he just finished college with a doctors degree in law. Keep in mind though, this was in the 1990's, and the Provies were still fighting it out
with the British security forces. He took a plane to Northern Ireland and took up arms to fight for the unification of Ireland as a sniper. Making his rank up to Sergeant, he left the militia in 1995 and took the flight back to New York City, keeping one of the signs he used.

There, he took the LSAT (Law School Administration Test) and joined up with the NY School of Law. He graduated and took on a career as a lawyer.
He was impeached however two years later under a charge of fraud, which was falsified by the judges after he started an investigation into the district attorney. So, instead, he joined the police force.
After five years as a regular cop, he had enough of boring patrols and decided to move on into the Special Weapons and Tactics team. He left it after a couple months, and retired happily.

He got married, had a wife, but never had children. He lived a semi-normal life over the next decade, until the infection broke out. His wife and he were evacuated, and he decided to take up arms once again with the local S.W.A.T. teams which were helping the military and FEMA. After a while, Homeland Security has decided to give him the position of Scout Sniper for the NY Evac Zone, seeing his experience in Ireland. He and a couple of his friends there were placed under the control of Homeland Security and FEMA, being their personal anti-infection soldiers.

What kind of zombies are the infected in the RP based off anyways? Are they like Walkers from The Walking Dead, the Solanum zombies from WWZ, or something else entirely? Just for a point of reference.

28 Days Later.

Also, there's no store near the airport that hasn't been looted to the rafters, and the PX isn't selling firecrackers. Fix your post.

So, IRA (Now labaled a terror group) then NY Lawyer who got fraud charges slapped on him, then NYPD, then SWAT despite being a former member of a terror group and a felon, before being picked by FEMA as a scout-sniper... FEMA doesn't use scout-snipers, they use the US Military, which is still very much around.

Denied. Don't waste your time revising it.

Orange characters are NPCs. For supplies, if the weights are green, then that means you're less encumbered, while orange/red weights mean you're close to or already are overencumbered.
I don't know what I'm s'posed to do.

Rule 1. Basic RPing etiquette applies here, no metagaming, no godmodding, generally nothing that isn't acceptable on site.

By controlling another character's reaction that's godmodding. Fix it.

Also, the funniest thing about the revolver scenario is that JROTC get firearms training in most cases.

He would've been able to keep the gun.

Carry Weight: 16 kg
Strengths:
High intelligence
Has experienced survival situations before in Syria
Weaknesses:
Below average English skills
Physically weak
Has some symptoms of PTSD
Personal Belongings:
Samsung Galaxy A5
Phone charger
Earbuds
Water bottle, empty
Travel mug, empty
Plastic knife
3x instant coffee packets
1x bag of nacho cheese Doritos
1x bag of beef jerky
1x box of Froot Loops
Notebook
Black pen
40 Canadian dollars
Biography: Nisreen was born in Syria. There was nothing particularly noteworthy about her family. Her father was a moderately successful businessman, owning an electronics store, and her mother stayed at home to raise the kids and look after the house. Nisreen and her family never struggled, never failed to have their basic needs met. She was a good student all through school and had plans to go to university. That is, until civil war struck Syria.

Initially, there seemed to be no change. Nisreen's older brother joined the Syrian Arab Army but otherwise, the war seemed far away. But every day, the sounds of gunfire came closer and closer until the city where Nisreen's family lived was eventually taken over by war. For the first time in their lives, Nisreen and her family would struggle to have their basic needs met. Her father's business was destroyed by a mortar shell. As the rebels took over the city, Nisreen and her family ended up leaving, following troops from the Syrian Army. They had no home anymore.

The next few months were spent in refugee camps in Lebanon. The camps were dirty, the food was poor, but at least it was safe. Her father reassured them that everything was ok, he had enough money that they could go to Europe or Canada. They wouldn't be in the camp for long. He was able to keep his promise of not having to stay in the camp for long as he could afford a small apartment in Beiruit. However, it was still not a good situation. They were still struggling to get by. At this rate, they'd likely never be able to make it to a decent country. They went to embassies of various countries hoping to apply for refugee status, but we constantly turned down. By now, her father had found work at a computer repair shop. Nisreen found work at a coffee shop near their apartment. She still wanted to go to university and hoped that one day she would, but for now it was impossible. The family continued to try to save money to move to a western country, but they also began to look for private sponsors.

In 2015, their luck changed. They had found an organization that was willing to sponsor them to come to Canada. They would find a job for Nisreen's father, help pay for Nisreen to go to university, and even help them pay rent on an apartment for the first few months. Naturally, they took the offer and by the end of November, the family had moved to Mississauga, Ontario. Her father found a job almost immediately at a cellphone repair shop, and Nisreen started attending the University of Toronto in January.

Things seemed to be going good and everything seemed to be almost back to normal. But then, the infection hit. Nisreen was attending classes at university when she was ordered to evacuate, effectively cutting her off from the rest of her family. She has not seen them since. While she has experienced hardship before, living through the Syrian Civil War, living through this new world where there's no escape and no support from her family, will be an even greater test of just how much she can handle.

Name: Thomas Barrett
Gender: Male
Age: 22
Description: Weighing in at around 162 pounds and standing around 5'10.5", Thomas also has short, cropped light brown hair and hazel eyes.
Occupation: Janitor/Minor League Baseball Player
Carry Weight: 42 pounds
Strengths: Due to his time on the street, Thomas is an effective scavenger, and through his time playing baseball has honed his skills in running and general athleticism, being also to throw decently far and handle a bat effectively.
Weaknesses: The trauma of experiencing the death of his parents and the five years he spent homeless have inflicted Thomas with severe depression, that he had almost overcome before the outbreak, but the horror of witnessing the terror of the outbreak and not knowing whether any of his friends back in Colewood were alive or dead has brought back the depression in force.
Personal Belongings:
  • Polypropylene Baseball Bat
  • Baseball duffel bag
    • Dried venison jerky (x4)
    • 33 fl. oz. canteen
    • Photograph of deceased family
    • Colewood Bisons jersey, #14
    • Colewood Bisons pants
    • Black baseball cleats
    • Baseball (2x)
  • Graphic cotton t-shirt
  • Laslow Inc. sweatshirt
  • Blue jeans
  • Colewood Bisons baseball cap

Biography: Thomas began his life as the son of an accountant and a stay-at-home mom, and lived a rather uneventful life until he was 15, when his parents died in a house fire, and Thomas was forced into the foster-care system. He stayed in his first home with an abusive foster father and drunkard for a foster mother for three months, before running away. His family cared so little that they never filed a missing person's report, so Thomas was left to fend for himself on the streets.

He lived homeless for five years, until he gained a real job as a custodian, and joined a local Class A baseball team, the Colewood Bisons, moved into a small apartment, and lived like that for another two years. However right as his life was turning for the better, that's when the outbreak hit. He was in Rochester for an away game at the time, and was getting ready to head back home when it was announced that all flights coming and going in ROC airport were cancelled. Luckily, the airport was made into an evacuation center in short order, and Thomas has stayed put in the hope of possibly being sent home.

Biography:
Born in November 21st 1954 in the Portland, Oregon, Colt’s father was a former Sergeant who served in the Bulge, the sort of man whose presence was just there. When he was born, his father had taken the manufacturing job his mother had to give-up at the end of the war; they’d gotten, admittedly, into the baby-making business late, but Colt was the fourth child in a line. His early life was rather nice, as they were making good money, though a year into his time the Vietnam War began.

Colt’s eldest brother, Nathaniel, was drafted off to the Far East, off to fight the Communists, protect democracy, all the rest of it. They’d get letters from him, write back in droves, and never really know if they would get there. Those would be strange memories for Colt, reading letters about the dinner table with such eagerness. One day the letters stopped, though, and for two months no word came. Then they did get that little word, the folded flag, a uniform at the door. His mother was overcome with grief, falling into a deep place that no-one could really help her out of. They tried everything, and oh God would Colt still swear that they did, but nothing would work. She talked little, never loud, and barely left her room. She just replayed the events, over and over, thinking it was in some way her fault. Colt’s father took it another way, deciding that his son had been good, that his son was in Heaven, and that it was a fact of war. He was a hard man.

Colt only somewhat understood at the time. He just knew that his brother had gone and wouldn’t come back. He didn’t really understand when his father took mom away,
said she was leaving to go and get betting in a hospital. That, of course, meant a mental
asylum, but Colt didn’t understand that, either. His father was hard-faced about all of it.
They were happy when his two other brothers each in turn went to college; it meant the
draft couldn’t touch them. Isaac went, after that, to the National Guard in Oregon.

Then, in 1972, right as Colt turned eighteen, a little bit of paper came in the mail. Of course he would answer the call, going away to join the Army. Boot camp was boot camp, a thing that just was, and medical training was just that, and as a medic he’d go-off to Vietnam. It’s not something he likes to dwell on. When the war ended in 1975, Colt was still alive and a lot of the men he’d tried to save weren’t. After the war, he would go-off to college in Portland, getting a medical degree while never talking about his time overseas. They’d always say things, at the start yelling at the guys in uniform as they’d cross the streets. Those in the colleges didn’t appreciate what had happened, didn’t understand, and Colt grew quiet because of it. They’d never understand, he told himself, never would know what it was like. Getting his medical degree, Colt would practice at Eastmoreland Hospital in Portland, a local Osteopathy clinic.

It was there that he would meet his wife, Lisa. She was a nurse at the hospital. She was from New York and, over a bit of time, the two grew on one-another. They would be married in the eighties in a small ceremony, having several kids over the years and with Colt taking-in a small job as a volunteer firefighter in the area. When 1993 came about, Colt would move to New York, along with his wife, to go and retire in near proximity to two of their three kids, the third being in South America.

Life would be quiet until 9/11, when New York was rocked by disaster. It would hit the Isometsä clan hard, with both children dying in the destruction of the World Trade Center; one already worked there, in communications, while the other was going in for a job interview. They took it poorly, for some obvious reasons, with both Colt and Lisa going to a counselor several times for depression. They would stay about, though, simply because there was less reason than before to move away.

In 2005, Lisa would pass-away due to a heart attack at the store and Colt would be left alone. He’d still stay about, retired and rather lonely save for writing and learning some things online, including ASL, out of sheer boredom. When the greater violence of the infection began, he bought foodstuffs en-masse, a bit more ammunition for his pistol and rifle, and went-off to the airport.
