Twinbridge International Airport is the oldest continuously operating commercial airport in the United People's Federation of Charellia, and the second largest in the country. Located in the ancient city of Twinbridge, this airport is a hub for the northern provinces, and provides connections for major cities, remote communities, and international destinations. Twinbridge is located at a confluence of air, water, and railways, making it almost inevitable that regular travellers to Charellia will end up here eventually. Twinbridge serves as a hub for TransAir and Federation Air, and a focus city for Othica Airways. These airlines offer daily, and sometimes hourly service to popular tourist cities and major economic centers, including Union City, Colburg and Piraea, Agea, Tiran, and Norida City.

Twinbridge International Airport has been in continuous operation since 1967, but continues to live up to the high standards expected of a modern international airport. Construction has recently finished on a brand new terminal while our two existing terminals have undergone regular refurbishment since their construction. Duty free shopping is available in both our international terminals and a number of retail outlets operate at all three. Being located within the Twinbridge city limits, this airport offers easy access to public transit, hotels, and other services.

Terminal A is the original terminal, constructed in 1967. It is for domestic flights only and is used primarily by TransAir and Federation Air. International travellers must clear customs prior to transiting to this terminal.

Customs and Immigration
Customs and immigration are handled by the Federation Border Service. While they take their job very seriously, they also make every effort to make the process as simple and efficient as possible, so clearing customs is a fairly easy process. The Charellian government recognizes the value of allowing the movement of people throughout the world, and strives to place as few restrictions on travellers as possible.

Visitors to Charellia must be prepared to present a passport valid for three months, a valid visa (if required), a completed customs declaration card, and a travel itinerary. Travellers who are transiting through Charellia to another nation are not required to apply for a visa or clear customs unless they intend to leave the secure area of the airport, but must present their passport and boarding pass to immigration officials. Transiters wishing to exit the airport may apply for a 72 hour temporary visa on arrival. Visa-free travel is permitted for citizens of nations that have entered into an agreement with the Department of Foreign Affairs. Automated passport control and customs declarations are available for returning citizens of Charellia and Silila, but all other nationalities must have a face-to-face interview with immigration officials.

Getting Around
Twinbridge International Airport exists at a nexus of different transportation routes. In addition to serving as Charellia's second busiest airport, Twinbridge also features an underground train station and bus terminal. The airport is accessible by bus, rail, metro, and car. It is located on the west side of the Heledane River, only thirty minutes from the city center in good traffic. Bus service is available to most areas of the city and its suburbs. Airport buses are clearly denoted by a sign on the front. Buses cost 4.50 U per trip. Taxicab service is available from the arrivals area. Prices may vary.

Twinbridge International Airport is a regular stop on the Trans Charellian Railroad. Twinbridge Airport Station is accessible directly from the arrivals/departures area. Direct tickets to Twinbridge Central and Twinbridge West may be purchased for the reasonable price of 10 U. Other stops on the Trans Charellian line include Union City, Solara, and Norida City, making the train an excellent options for tourists on a budget, or who just want to see the country. This station is also a point of access for the Twinbridge Metro, which provides quick service to all areas of the city for a fixed price of 6 U.

Travellers intending to stay in the city for any length of time may wish to invest in a Holiday Transit Pass (22 U per day), which provides unlimited use of bus and metro services.

Explore Twinbridge
For many the city of Twinbridge is nothing more than a brief stop on the way to their final destination. However, this historic city should not be underestimated. Twinbridge has been a center of trade since time immemorial. The current city and its namesake twin bridges were constructed in the late seventeenth century, but archaeologists believe that the site has been settled on and off for at least a thousand years.

The old city features well preserved architecture from the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, many of them still in operation as government and commercial premises. Hospitality abounds with a world class selection of bars and restaurants in this eclectic district that combines a historic appearance with a distinctly modern feel. Travellers interested in learning more about this ancient city or Charellia in general will find no shortage of museums in this district. Easily accessible via train or metro, this district is perfect for travellers on a layover.

Or head south into the modern downtown. This vibrant district features all the hallmarks of a modern city, including numerous shopping, eating, and entertainment options. Downtown Twinbridge is a cultural hub, showcasing all the diversity Charellia has to offer. Shoppers will find everything from traditional street markets (a fixture of the city since its inception) to sleek modern shopping centers. Entertainment options include the Orcil Theatre Company and Twinbridge Symphony Orchestra, as well as numerous popular music venues. It is not uncommon to hear several languages spoken in the street, even by residents, and foreign travellers should not feel out of place. Downtown is accessible by bus or metro, and many hotels in the area offer airport shuttle service.

If you have a longer layover, you may want to consider taking a train to Twinbridge West and then catching a bus up to Lac Luna. This region, although technically within the Twinbridge city limits, has a distinctly rural feel, particularly during the off season. Several waterfront parks and beaches are available for public use, and there is a peaceful, relaxed atmosphere, sure to soothe any harried traveller. Hotels in this district tend to be cheaper than other areas of the city, but getting there by public transit can be time consuming.
