The IC

The date was August 10 in the year 2010 of the Imperial Calendar. The Holy Britannian Empire had just declared war upon Japan. The Far East island nation had held fast to its neutrality, and now Britannia looms as the world's only superpower. Rights to Japan's underground resources became a hotly disputed issue straining the already deep-rooted diplomatic tensions between the two sides. In the deciding battle for the mainland, Britannian forces introduced into combat the humanoid autonomous armoured knight known as the Knightmare Frame. The enemy's forces were far greater than anticipated, and the Knightmares obliterated the Japanese line of defence on the mainland with little effort. Japan became a dominion of the Empire. The country was stripped of its freedom, its rights, and its name. Area 11. The defeated and once proud nation of Japan was rechristened with a mere number...

The Premise and Setting

This RP will take place in the aftermath of Britannia's invasion and subsequent conquest of the Japanese islands, roughly a year after. While we may follow some events, the placing of events here allows us to have a bit of freedom in the canon and to explore some alternate history. Such a Role Play requires knowledge of the world of Code Geass but of course anyone is welcome to join and play along with us.

The setting for the most part will be Japan. Some events may take place in the Holy Britannian Empire's homeland and elsewhere, but Japan will be our primary setting. As such, it follows that most of our characters will either be Britannians or Japanese. That isn't to say other characters would not be allowed, but Chinese or European characters would need a good reason to be in Japan.

As mentioned, the RP will take place a year after Japan's fall. For background:

  • The Japanese Resistance is still strong and make frequent attacks on Britannian military and civilians
  • The Tokyo Settlement is still under construction, but the colonisation is underway
  • The Ashford Academy has opened and students attend, should anyone wish to be a student
  • Tensions with other world powers are high.

Rules

  • I, as OP, am God. My word is final, but I am open to suggestions.
  • Treat any Co-OP as you would treat me
  • For now, no canon characters. This may change in the future.
  • Please try to stay active. I understand we all have busy lives, but at least make an attempt at being active
  • Try to make quality posts of at least a full paragraph. I hate one liners.
  • Avoid Godmodding and metagaming. Code Geass has potential for serious abuse, but keep it grounded in some reality
  • Have fun!

Nation Name: Brit
Character Name: Maximilian York, the Duke of New York
Appearance:
Nationality Britannian
Citizen Status: Britannian Citizen (Pureblood)
Age: 38
Gender/Sex: Male
Occupation and/or Rank: Commander of the Imperial I Corps, Lt. General
Biography: Maximilian, 9th Grand Duke of New York, is the son of Augustus York, 8th Duke of New York and Victoria x Britannia--the younger sister of Charles zi Britannia's father. This make Maximilian a first cousin to the Emperor, although far from being close in the line of succession. Maximilian was born in 1972, a.t.b, several years after the so-called Emblem of Blood incident which scarred the Imperial Family. During the crisis, Maximilian's family fell on tough times and he would spend much of his schoolchild in abject poverty. In order to make his way in life, Maximilian decided a career in the military was the only way forward. In the academies, Maximilian demonstrated his talent and later put them to use when assisting Charles and Marianne in overthrowing the previous Emperor and later serving in several campaigns in South America and New Zealand. When the sakuradite crisis began, Maximilian realised that war with Japan was inevitable and used his clout to fight in the coming campaign, personally fighting on the front lines with his Glasgow. With the conquest complete, Maximilian has remained in Area 11 as part of the occupying forces and serving as an adviser to Prince Clovis
Personality: Maximilian can therefore be described as exceptionally brutal, even by Britannian standards. He regards non-Britannians as subhuman, fit only for slave labour, and regards non-purebloods as non-Britannians. Despite his serious and brutal nature, Maximilian does have an extravagant side, having built a large palace in Area 11 modelled on his Home Estate, and has a dry, albeit sadistic, sense of humour. That said, he does admire the Elevens for their resistance and sees their warrior culture as the next closest to Britannain. Still, he sees the final subjugation of Area 11 as the first step towards true Britannian domination of the globe, and desires to see Area 11 as a launch pad for a future invasion of the Chinese Federation. Secretly, he desires to become the Viceroy of Area 11, and his loyalty to the Emperor is absolute. Maximilian believes strongly that a people's literature reveals much about their personality and culture, and uses his knowledge of literature when making plans against his opponents.
Powers and Abilities: A skilled Knightmare pilot, Maximilain can hold his own well. However, his greatest ability is his mind and dominating will.

Well, I've got my draft for the character I never finished at hand, so I'll be using that.
The main difference now being that I've got a lot more pics, and I'll probably have to give the appearance section its own post so NS doesn't time out when I try to submit the post. :p

Nation Name: Val
Character Name: Edward Augustus Hanover
Apperance:
Image

Nationality Britannian
Citizen Status: Noble
Age: 18
Gender/Sex: Male
Occupation and/or Rank: Knight of Two, Knight of the Round, Military Officer
Biography:
Born in the district of Delaware, Edward Augustus can trace his lineage back to Elizabeth III's bastard sister who married a noble from House Hanover who established a fine mansion in Wessex and in Delaware. The House of Hanover of Wessex would follow the British nobles after the fall of Great Britain and the retreat of the Royal Family to the Americas. This Hanover branch while close to the new Britannian Royal Family was never considered royalty by the nobles due to Elizabeth naming her lover as her heir. Thus the Hanovers only remained powerful figures in Delaware.

George Hanover, father to Edward Augustus was a very close friend to Charles zi Britannia and his brother Victor as children however was forced to return to Delaware due to his own father's death and George had to take up the head of the House. George continued to keep in contact with Charles however, and was a key economic supporter during the invasion of Japan and Indochina.

George would have a son, Edward Augustus Hanover in 1992 a.t.b just a few months following the birth of Clovis la Britannia. Edward was sent to Pendragon at the age of four to be raised with the royal family. Here Edward received an education fitting that of the Royal Family, he also became a very close friend with Clovis and Euphemia while becoming acquaintances with Lelouch and Odysseus. Edward would eventually become a Knight, and serve under his best friend Clovis. Edward having seen Marianne and the Knights of the Round like Bismarck become some of the first to pilot Knightmares would soon develop the ambition to reach their level. Edward would serve as a Military Officer under Clovis during the Invasion of Japan. Edward and Clovis played a key part in taking Kyushu. Edward was assigned a Glasgow frame along with his squad which allowed Clovis' army to easily take the island.

Following the invasion of Japan, for his valiant effort and due to influence from Clovis. Edward was inducted into the Knights of the Round at the age of 18, becoming the Knight of Two. Once inducted into the Knights of the Round, Edward became a major figure head for the east coast Britannians. Later in the year, he was given a mission of assassinating the King of Arabia to help the Britannians with their war against the Middle Eastern Federation. However, when Edward cornered the old, decaying king his granddaughter stepped in front of the king and took the bullet that Edward fired. Demoralized after killing the child, Edward was unable to kill the king, thus Bismarck had to finish the job. Edward was taken by Bismarck to be punished by Charles for being unable to complete his mission. Charles had originally planned to kill Edward but due to a request from Clovis and seeing how much of a figurehead Edward had become, decided to rewrite Edward's memories using his Geass and send him to Area 11 to protect Clovis.

With Edward's memories rewritten he remembers the assassination as Charles wanted. Instead of failing the assassination his new memories had him killing the King successfully and was sent to Japan to assist Clovis with the construction of the Tokyo Settlement. Edward hopes that being close to Clovis he can help ease the transfer of power. As a reward for the assassination Edward was given the Prose Lancelot, a Lancelot Knightmare Frame that is the prototype to the Lancelot that is currently under construction, it has a smaller amount of Sakuraidite compared to the Lancelot thus it can barely match the Lancelot's performance.

Personality:
Edward is a kind soul and seeks to find the better in people. When ever Edward hears rumors of Clovis' true nature he denies them still believing that Clovis is a great friend. Edward is also one of the few Britannians who does not believe in Social Darwinism and is greatly against the subjugation and segregation that the Numbers are placed under. Edward while kind is also ambitious and hopes to one day become the Knight of One so that he can help ease the burden of the Japanese and become Viceroy of area 22, once known as Russia.

Powers and Abilities: Fantastic Piloting Skills matched only by his fellow Knights of the Round and outmatched by Bismarck, Excellent Duelist with his Knightmare, and a decent shot with his pistol.
Misc. Info Currently under the command of Charles's Geass, thus requires someone with a Code to overwrite it.

Nation Name: Virshia
Character Name: Lady Lynette Hereford
Apperance: Lynette Hereford
Nationality Britannian
Citizen Status: Pureblood, Nobility
Age: 26
Gender/Sex: Female
Occupation and/or Rank: Captain, Noble
Biography: Born to Duke Andrew and Lady Klara Hereford, Lynette spent her childood being raised in a sheltered, pampered lifestyle. After a while though, she got a mite too spoiled. After an incident regarding spilled bleach, an inattentive Lynette, and an unwary maid carrying crystal chalices, Lynette found herself being sent away from home to do something of worth: Military training. And she was pretty good at it. She was one of the Glasgow units sent into Japan during the invasion, where she earned the distinction of taking a Japanese Sakuradite Ship by simply firing warning shots at it. She later admitted that she got praised so much for something that didn't merit so much praise, showing a hint of modesty. She later went on to face off against LT. Colonel Tohdoh at Itsukushima, where she found herself with a huge pile of respect for the valiant Officer.

After the war, Lynette remained in Japan, as a resident of the Tokyo Settlement. Due to An officer in York's section retiring after a nasty Weapons Development incident and her almost Folk-Hero like legend, the bemused Lynette was offered to replace him. After a few months, she was surprised to learn that she wasn't a pureblood Britannian. Her 'mother' was actually her Adoptive mother. Her real mother was Japanese (A fact hidden by the entire Hereford Family for fear of ridicule) and her uncle was General Katase of the JLF. To say Lynette was surprised at this piece of news was an understatement.

Personality: A Knight who doesn't really takes her job seriously. She's not really a bad person like the Purebloods. In fact, for a time Duke Hereford thought his daughter was a complete slacker who sponged off his wealth for a private shut-in lifestyle. Although Lynette has an acid tongue when she gets annoyed, she's a good person at heart who dislikes Britannia's oppression of the Numbers. She's also a complete pessimist, and dislikes Edward's optimism. She also feels uneasy about fighting her uncle (Who doesn't know she exists).
Powers and Abilities: Pilots a Glasgow
Misc. Info She hasn't told about her heritage to anyone, because of fears that she'll be treated no better than the Elevens.

In the original RP I planned on having Edward switch sides once the Geass on him has been broken. However, since the JLF isn't really that big of a threat I don't know who he could join. I should also have my secondary character app up today as well.

Hmm, perhaps we could have a non-canon faction that is similar to the Black knights. Also I take it C.C and V.V are the only two characters with Codes currently?

I think. I'm not too sure on the whole expanded universe. Immortals are C.C and V.V. The Contracted are Marianne, Charlie, Bismarck, Anya by proxy, and Edward, AFAIK.

Perhaps Lynette and Edward could join up and aid the JLF?

If you're going to switch sides, do so in a way that keeps some balance. If all the officers jump ship and join the JLF, things will get boring :P

Edward isn't contracted, he's under the effect of Charles's Geass (the whole making new memories Thing). He didn't kill the King like he was suppose to, so Charles rewrote his memories to think he did, thus allowing Edward to remain an important figure head.

Also Brit, don't worry, Its going to be pretty hard for my character to jump ship considering there's only two people with Code that could override Charles's Geass.

Would be a bit weird if the only immortals were V.V. and C.C..

As far as we know, they are the only immortals, yes

Well, there was another one in a spinoff (I think it was Renya of Darkness) called U.U., but yeah. Still, would make sense if there were more immortals over the past few thousand years.
