WELCOME TO QASDEN!

Image

The Principality of Qasden is a small but loud landlocked nation located on the Azeurian landmass of Atlantian Oceania, bordering Geisenfried to the southwest and the tip of Milchama, also in the southwest. Home to approximate 20 million Qads, the country is a haven when it comes to sports enthusiasts. With 97% of the 'pality's population being perpetually involved in some kind of contest, the nation ranks as possibly one of the most sport-loving and competitive countries in southwestern Atlantian Oceania, most likely behind Valanora and Farfadillis. Soccer, basketball, and tennis come in as the 3 most popular sports in Qasden, followed quickly behind by handball, table tennis, and ice hockey.

The People

As noted above, the citizens of Qasden are highly competitive and highly obsessed with sporting events and contests. Despite these initial personalities (most commonly found in shamrock pubs and stadiums), the Qad people are truly kind, always willing to help foreigners cope the fact that they're stuck with a bunch of crazy cat people for the next few weeks. 85% of Qasdonians (or Qad, for short) live within the urban/suburban vicinities of Qasden's largest cities by the river that makes up the country's "coastline". With that being said, 91% have at least 1 cat in their household at anytime, so beware to those with feline allergies!

The Touristy Stuff

Visitors of Qasden will be welcomed from the moment they touch down in T.V. City International Airport to the moment they leave, wallets emptied and hands full with Qad clutter they will surely trash within the next week. Walking around Turkish Van City, the nation's capital, tourists can expect to see sights such as the Royal Qasdonian Palace, residence of Prince FP, the infamous Royal T.V. Stadium, the Astrix Market/Bazaar, and cats as far as the eye can see. Each of Qasden's 7 host cities each have their own collectibles, ranging from the fine china in the pristine capital to the rusty cat tail-shaped fish hooks of Port Harston. Heck, you can even get a generic shirt if you want! The Qad currency can be converted as $1 = $1.33 NSD.

The Cuisine and Weather

Qasden's dining experience, like it's collectibles, vary from city to city. In T.V. City, fine dining is the way to go in the expensive and elegant "Southern Quarters" neighborhood (or "haven", as neighborhoods are referred as in Qasden). However, on the city's outskirts, such as the Adamant Borough haven, you can expect to find delicious pig-out buffets and the best dang bar-food this side of AO. Most notable, however, are Pritzy's Reed Sticks in Port Harston, made with cat tails and all that good plant stuff. Weatherwise, the nation suffers from a very bipolar system, with some days being dismal and sunny and others being happy and stormy. Snow can only be found in the mountainous border regions of the southwest, but has reportedly fell as far north as Taxson and Elder before.

The Vistas

As shown in the map above, 7 cities across the country have been selected to host portions of the tournament within their stadia. To ease travel expenses for competitions and fans alike, the 6 group stage cities have been divided into west and east, with the western cities (marked in light blue) hosting Group Γ and the eastern cities (marked in red) hosting Group β. T.V. City, (marked with a swirl) will hold only 3 games, being the Delta Round and Alpha Cup.

During the group stage, venues and pairings will be aligned by latitude from west to east. For example, MD1's 1v6 match of Group Gamma will take place in Destiny, while Group Beta's 3v4 match will take place in Chevlin.

Reserved for Qasden Roster.

You may now start RPing and no further reservations beyond this post.

Ice-Cat Things drawn into Group β

A Look at Vilita & Turori's opponents for the Upcoming AOHC VI competition:
Image

#3 :: Royal Kingdom of Quebec
The Royal Kingdom of Quebec made a splash in a not so positive way during the recently concluded 54th AOCAF championships in Association Footsport, fielding a rag-tag team of convicts with documented offenses ranging from petty theft to premeditated murder. In fact, many of Royal Quebec's players were death row inmates - some may have already been terminated at this time. Will the Royal Kingdom of Quebec be using fear tactics once again in AOHC VI or will they turn to their natural talents borne out of the chilly north and contest a fair game on the ice? If they do, they will be a threat.

#4 :: Cosumar
While many Vilita & Turori fans were glad to see the Ice-Cat Things avoid being paired with rival nation Valanora in the group stage, being paired instead with Cosumar is perhaps an even worse fate for Vilita & Turori as the Ice Dragons are coming into the tournament with all the momentum. As the reigning World Cup of Hockey champions, Sport Cosumar has also just lifted the AOCAF LIVe title. Now that Cosumar has broken through they will be looking to keep the title train running in Qasden.

#6 :: Komarov-Thomiya
Komarov-Thomiya are one of the biggest unknowns in the field as scouting reports are all over the map. There are some who believe the hyphenated nation will not only finish in the top four and thereby advance to the Quarter Finals, but also that Komarov-Thomiya are strong enough to challenge the top 3 in the group standings. Only time will tell.

Unranked :: Iskandervale
Iskandervale are not typically known as an Ice Hockey powerhouse but they have dabbled in the sport before so are favored to at least finish second-bottom of the table and not prop up the group. it is unclear how many experienced players will return to the Iskandervale roster or if they will be starting fresh with an entirely new roster.

Unranked :: Oontaz
The Sultanate of Oontaz has gone through some political change but as far as sports go, is a nation on the rise. The Green Goons not only qualified for the AOCAF LIVe Knockout Rounds, they were able to win their Round of 16 matchup and advance to the Quarter Finals before ultimately being eliminated by eventual runner-up Eshan. The Oontaz squad is expected to be one of the crowds favorite underdog nations in Qasden and Vilita & Turori will have to be carefully to not allow the Ootanz match to be a banana peel on the road to the Knockout Rounds

There are two ways for the Komariques to score. One method is to push offensively when the opponents defence is broken or hopeless and play defensively in times of risk of being conceded or holding to an important crucial score line in the final minutes of the game. Another way is to find a chance when an opponent makes a turnover in the wrong place and time so they can get the puck.

They also love to bring up a good brawl against other players, so in other words a donnybrook. What is different is that unlike normal enforcers who fight like they would do, the Magical Warriors used other body parts to bring their opponent down, such as knees, elbows, shins and even their heads. With an exception of using their elbows and their heads, this can be proven difficult especially when they are on the ice wearing skates, which would be liable to slip and fall down if balance isn't achieved.

Their method of winning is 'strong spirit' style, meaning they won't give up very easily for long periods of time. This works from the end of first or second period to the last few minutes of the third period. Their ability can be activited when the team is left disadvantaged or their star player isn't able to play due to an injury so the Komariques take the opportunity to score and eventually win. However, apart from its expiry duration, it can be broken down if the powerplay is given to the other team. To reactivate it, they must get the team into a powerplay and, if possible, score a goal.

Name: La République Nordique de Kebec
Quick Intro: La République Nordique de Kebec (The Nordic Republic of Kebec) is a small, breathtaking country situated in northwestern Atlantian Oceania, a smaller country of sorts, however, an ethnic mixing pots, 13 major ethnicities refer to Kebec as their delightful (and frigid) home, despite their ethnic difference, the nation is able to father around their love for the nation that is Kebec and work thru all strife to recognize the beauty and sanctity of this oasis. Grounded in our roots of the ancient Norse peoples who once populated and roamed our lands freely, we return to our olden roots and believe in the work and testament to the Gods while being accepting to all world cultures, Kebec is renowned for its Asgardian-styled architecture and the blessings bestowed upon itself by the Gods of Asgard.
Region: Atlantian Oceania
Nicknames: Les Yetis Bleus (The Blue Yetis), The Icers (historical)
Colors: Kebecois Bleu, Blue, Silver, Gold, White
Stadium: Sario National Hall (capacity 15 000)
(View Here)
Sario National Hall is an older stadium - its' been the home of Kebec's national senior and junior ice hockey teams since 2036 (14 years ago), however, it is a beloved sight by fans of hockey and visitors alike with its pinnacled columns adorned with memobailia from its fourteen years of life, talks to tear it down and build a new hockey center were discussed but never really took off as people simply loved this stadium and none would want to lose it. There is no club team attached to this venue as KHL-1 and HL2 teams playing in Sario play in newer stadiums - in fact, its due to be torn down at the ending of the thirteenth edition of the World Junior Hockey Championships, held in Kebec, plans to replace it with a new stadium are already underway.
At current, Sario National Hall can hold up to 15,000 people in its full seating-capacity, its situated in the "Riverside Disctrict" of Kebec - a place filled with ancient history and other lovely stuff that has nothing to do with the AOHC and whatnot. Flowing fountains are abundant in this area, situated alongside the Rivière d’Odin, one of the longest rivers located in Kebec and one of the three "Golden Rivers", the trio of them making the largest rivers in Kebec. Sario National Hall was actually built atop a swamp which was drained back in 1983, seven years before the Kebecois Winter War (1990-2006) broke out - as of now, the hall is forty years ago, built in 2000 originally as a displacement center during the civil war, now, its' a worn down hockey rink that needs to be replaced.

Hockey Association: Hockey Kebec (HK), headquartered in Sario, Odin Country.
    HA Chairman: Felton Parstinson

Team History
Kebec made its debut in international hockey with the World Cup of Hockey 30, contested in Norrehavn - then known as Kep, the national failed miserably, falling flat on its' face in its first try, losing each game (four) by an average of 3.7 points-per-game, this is usually considered a dark-mark in Kebecois hockey history and lead to the dissolution of the old Kespian Hockey Association and the Kep Island Hockey League. Fast-forward to 2036, under ex-coach Quentin Vaugrenard, Kebec qualified for World Cup of Hockey 33 and promptly fell flat on its face with a disappointing play. Now, with the years gone by, the AO Hockey Championships have arrived giving Kebec a chance to revive itself on the hockey scene.

Expanded History: Kebec's been trying at hockey since its founding, however, Kebecois hockey has only come to prominence recently in the past 5-10 years, the global launching and positioning of the Kebec Hockey League-1 and the Kebecois hockey pyramid system which has slowly grown to become one of the more well-known hockey leagues in the multiverse, when one thinks of Kebec, they now associate themselves with the KHL-1 if not Hockey Kebec. Kebec's first foray into international hockey was World Cup of Hockey 30, which as previously mentioned little data was collected on (i.e. I didn't roleplay) - resulting in some obscure info on the tournament, however, we do know Kebec's previous incarnation - Kep imploded, being completely destroyed on their march to a failure, this is usually referred to as the "Dark Age" of Kebecois or pre-Kebecois if you will, hockey, many have tried to downplay this in Kebec's hockey history, but it is common knowledge of their failures. Fast-forward almost twenty years to the 33rd edition of the WCoH, this time, under homegrown coach Quentin Vaugrenard. Vaugrenard had been considered a savior for Kebec heading into the competition - guiding the Big Bay Hawks all the way to the then-IHNL (now KHL-1) finals before losing in five games to the Albert-Cross Angels. Now, rightfully awarded the coaching duties, he was unable to right the ship as Kebec stumbled thru the WCoH 33 with blood gushing from its many cuts and wounds, it wound up going 1-1-8, a measly record that saw much shame brought upon the national team, leaving it with little chance of redemption. However, with a newfound push from the Kebecois hockey organization - Hockey Kebec, a push to guide Kebec into the top 15 in the world in three World Cup of Hockey-cycles, Kebec has re-concentrated its efforts on hockey, going as far as hiring Cosumarite former assistant coach and world champion, Alan Foye as the new Kebecois coach in hopes of guiding us to a miraculous championship in the AO Hockey Championships.

Formation: 1-1-4 (utilizing extra forward)
Introducing a new manager is never easy, especially a new one in successive cycles, the Kebecois hockey federation - Hockey Kebec, has opted to name for Cosumar assistant coach and world champion Alan Foye as the Kebecois national team head coach for the next two years, signing a large ᛊ9.75-million (N$6-million) contract, ensuring that he heads the senior hockey team for two consecutive tenures, included, he signed a one-cycle opt-out that would shell out N$4-million if he chose to quit. A large expense that the Hockey Kebec organization was willing to gurantee however, one that will later come to assist the Kebecois side if this move pans out correctly as planned. The debut of the new coaching style of Alan Foye is a major increase from the relative defensive positioning seen previously under the likes of Vaugrenard. Foye introduces some new-styled tactics, the Kebecois formations will only utilize one defender and opt for four forwards with the edition of the utilitarian goalie charged with keeping the net clean of any pucks. Foye's formation will allow for flexibility on both sides of the ice, the fourth forward will be able to play a two-way system, its likely Foye will recruit a defensive-styled right-wing to play the extra position most likely.

Kit

Info: The Kebecois national team introduced a new kit this cup, attempting to play on the flag of Kebec, Hockey Kebec denied an opportunity to renew their license with IceVille Kits - instead opting for a transfer to Oceanus Kits in an attempt to fine better-suited colors for the Kebecois national team. Pioneered mightily by Hockey Kebec's chairman, the new kits are a drastice improvement over IceVille's kit, these proudly display te national colors of the Kebecois nation and have been applauded mightily by many.

Fabien De Saint-Pierre (third from right) celebrates his lone goal
In their match versus Lisander (in green)KWS photo

FYRE (KWS) — Ah - what a day it has been for Kebecois hockey, travelling from Kebec and the thirteenth edition of the World Junior Hockey Championships to here in Fyre, Qasden where we compete in the cat-loving nation for a chance to hoist the Atlantian Oceania Hockey Championship - that is the sixth incarnation of it. Today, we saw a convicting but quiet win for the Kebecois senior team, filled with many new faces and managed by a new tactician in Cosumarite Alan Foye, the second game under Foye faired well as we were able to get done some important things that straightened out many kinks left undone from the opening game Kebec played in. We're proud to report that Kebec was able to get 'er done and on top of that, Coach Foye proved a good manager for the national team, able to get along well with national-team captain Fabien De Saint-Pierre and he seems like he'll be able to guide the national team for a long time to come, at sixty-one, he's one with relative youth.

The clash between Lisander - a nation known for its rugby-loving people and seat of the current president of NSRB - and Kebec, a hockey-loving nation that had suffered many defeats on the international stage was an interesting one. While not as much watched as a World Cup of Hockey-match would've registered, it still pulled 470,000 households to tune into the KWS Channel and watch the game, more than the opening match which only pulled in 160,000 - the Kebecois team entered with Fabien De Saint-Pierre announcing his plans to retire from international hockey after the AOHC ended. This was a stunner for many teams and certainly raised the drama surrounding this cup in which Hockey Kebec has made it clear an exit in the group-stage would prove to be unacceptable and has devoted massive amounts of time to training the team.

The offense was largely absent from much of this game - whether it was for coaching reasons or a failure to ignite the fire, it worked well as it seemed to deter the Lisander nation from finding a weaker defense, Kebec maintained an iron-clad defense that was utterly unbreakable much thru the game, allowing for the offensive starters to rest much of the game. Most of the game saw play by the second and third lines, Mineto, a much-hyped first-year player of the KHL-1 and star last year in Kebec's second-tier league, the HL2 did surprisingly well, registering five shots on goal and keeping the Lisander defense on their toes much of the game, particularly during the second period where "those clad in green" (Kebec's reference to Lisander) were brutally attacked by onslaught after onslaught brought on by Mineto himself. The goal came late in the fourth period on a routine pass from Danny Jauffret to Estiene Bescond. Bescond who had no where to go dished it off to Fabien De Saint-Pierre who sent a puck speeding towards the net - hitting the right notch of the Lisander goalie helmet and richoeting thru the crossbar into the net, giving Kebec their lone goal and three points to continue to tourney.

A good win by the Kebecois side pits them in a bitter match-up coming up in their third-game against tournament hosts, the Cat-Loving Principality of Qasden - one of their AO allies and one of the most-beloved nations in Kebec other than... well Kebec of course. This is supposed to be one of the most-watched games for KWS as "The Friendly Rivalry" as it is called when Qasden and Kebec have met each other in general sports will be revived and receive a new chapter when the two nations go at it during a large clash between themselves in either Destiny or Taxson. There's a lot on the line for Kebec who's aiming to move into the top-two spots of the group - while the top four in each group will qualify, there's an added anxiousness to play well against the number-five ranked nation in Atlantian Oceania. Especially coming off tying with Valanora - the number-2 in AO and Lisander - the number eight squad.

Alas, that wasn't the only game that was on display today, in other games, we saw Valanora utterly dominate the Chromatik team to a scoreline of 6-nil, possibly the biggest-recorded scoreline in the AOHC's rather short history. The tournament hosts themselves managed a good campaign against the double f's of Farfadillis, a 1-nil game allowed for them to progress into the number one spot in Group Alpha - they're one of the final undefeated teams left standing. In Group Beta, defending champions Vilita & Turori laid waste to Komarov-Thomiya 10-1, a staggering defeat that probably saw three players record a hat-trick - hell, the goalie probably even scored. The Royal Kingdom of Quebec outlasted Oontaz to escape with a 1-nil win, meanwhile in the real surprise, newcomers Iskandervale drew with defending-WCoH champions Cosumar 1-a-piece, a stunner that's sure to leave Cosumarites upset.

KWS out.

Fabien De Saint-Pierre playing for CASK ThosborgKWS photo

FYRE (KWS) — It is without a doubt that Fabien De Saint-Pierre is the face of Kebecois hockey throughout the world, single-handedly perhaps the greatest Kebecois player to ever play the game and the most controversial. However, during the last complete season of the Savojarn Hockey Serien (Savojarna's top-tier hockey league), there were rumors floating around that he was planning to retire from international hockey at the completion og the SHS's third season, however new man-in-charge, Coach Alan Foye convinced De Saint-Pierre to hang on one more tourney to guide a new generation of Kebecois players in the revival of the Atlantian Oceania Hockey Cup, one of the most prestigious regional competitions for hockey in the multiverse, Hockey Kebec had set its eyes on winning it and Fabien De Saint-Pierre was their key piece to the missing puzzle, tried and tested before, he was to be the gap for the transition from the old to the new.

Lamenting about Kebec's extreme shortcomings in the 33rd World Cup of Hockey, he spoke on the subject, "It was a demoralizing chance which we never took full advantage of, even three years later, I'm still kicking myself, we left so much out there."

At twenty-eight years-of-age, genetics says he's in the prime of his athletic life, however, he has made it clear he no longer wishes to pursue hockey on the international level, saying, "[ ... ] I firmly maintain that this will be my last foray into international hockey as a player, it was a long and hard decision but it was in the best interests of myself, the team and Hockey Kebec [ ... ]", Saint-Pierre however has proven more dominant than ever-before, De Saint-Pierre has racked up thirty-two points in the Savojarn domestic league - twelve goals and eight assists, however, De Saint-Pierre has grown more and more weary, seemingly mentally absent from his games in the SHS - not fully attached as the match goes on, prompting speculation about mental stability of him. There are rumors which were confirmed by his mother than De Saint-Pierre usually sees a physiatrist thrice a month to help with his ongoing depression problems, while he has never spoken before on the issue, it is well-known he suffers from the likes of depression his everyday life. When asked about his more-recent life, he responded:

"In the recent past, I've been faced with a number of issues", he would scratch his chin as weariness set over his face, "Times are changing and I feel almost as if - well - you know, I feel like-", he would abruptly stop and look down.

Maybe he waited to retire so he could go out with his fellow national team player and close friend, Stéphane Auger, one of the best Kebecois goalies in the game and former KHL-1 season champion. Auger himself is 35 years-old and also said he plans on retiring soon, however, we're feasting our eyes on De Saint-Pierre because he's the real star of this Kebecois squad, all the players have admitted that much. When asked how he wanted to be remembered - a fan-created question by KWS-Online user @DaFutureSaintPierre, the online-handle of Porthos De Triene, a young star on the Kebecois junior squad, Saint-Pierre answered this way.

"I want to be remembered as the person who lead the Kebecois nation to a triumph in the sixth edition of the Atlantian Oceania Hockey Championship, I want to be the guy that was able to assist in the smooth transition from the previous administration to that under Coach Alan Foye - I want to be the guy who is remembered for pioneering new techniques and the face of hockey in Kebec. I mean, its just something that I owe to the fans out there, y'all understand?"

So if you do well in this tourney, do you see yourself coming back for the World Cup of Hockey?
"No, this is it, this is my final curtain, I do not wish to return to international hockey, I for one have had enough and I wish to continue playing professional hockey at a top-tier level, international hockey just isn't for me anymore."

Speaking of the AOHC - what is your idea of the way things will shape out?
"Group Alpha's going to be a tough and windy road, we're facing off against some of the best in the region - this is the best of Atlantia Oceania, hell best in the multiverse, Valanora's a force, they're number two in the region, not to mention the hosts in Qasden are number five. I expect that if we can manage ourselves well that we can maybe get out with a solid second-or-third-place finish in our group, I really think that we have a chance to compete with the best for a chance to win the top prize.

Let's talk quickly about your group, what's your thoughts post-Valanora?
"Valanora is no doubt the biggest fish in small water in this tournament, that's if anything quite obvious, so, of course, that’s who we were really worried about when we started this baby off, however, we’re pleased with our result, I’d say that a draw is a good line any day against the number-two team in the region, especially when you’re unranked, no?

What about Qasden and Chromatika?
Wooh boy, those are both going to be helluva matches, Qasden’s our next opponent and we intend on dispatching of them in good fashion, we’ve watched a lot of film since our victory over Lisander and I think its fair to say we’re prepared to take them head on, it’ll mean a lot to defeat them in their own country. Chromatika – a ranked team just got blown out 6-1, so, its safe to say being ranked really doesn’t determine your final placement, I’m willing to bet we can scrap a nice win off them too, I’d like to think we’re going to walk away with a win-win situation if you will.

What about the others?
There’s not much left to talk about with them – Lisander was a good team until we beat them one-to-nil, a good win for our side. Farfadillis is unranked like us and we don’t know too much about them either, out of the possible wins for us, we’re going to back all of them, I think we can even got 4-0 against the remaining teams….

On a more personal note, how’s your depression-management been going?
Ah it’s a dark thing in my life I really don’t like to talk about – but well, its something I’ve just got to face head-on. I’m thankful for the guidance I’ve received so far, I think its improving slowly and slowly, but, playing in Savojarna is really a life-draining thing… I’d really like to move to Mercedini to play hockey.

And there you have it in typical fashion, a calm and composed Fabien De Saint-Pierre just says what’s on his mind with absolutely no regrets, a genius in his own right and no doubt the envy o’ many in Kebec – of course we envy him. De Saint-Pierre is chasing something he’s never gotten ever in his time of playing hockey – a championship so, we wish him the best of luck and say go get that shiny orb Saint-Pierre. Gods’-speed!

After an opening 4-1 victory in the competition over Oontaz, the Ice Cat things decided to put their sword in front of their shield on matchday 2 taking the game on ice to a new level against the AOHC newcomers team from Komariov thuraya.

By the end of the game the thorayav team could at least hold some pride In knowing that they were at least able to score a goal against the team that is now clearly favored to take home the tournament title.

Unfortunately for Komarov-thuraya the Ice Cat things scored not one, not two, not three, four, five or any single-digit number of goals... but 10; ten goals in an hour of play. Averaging a goal every 6 minutes, two different Ice Cat things players recorded hat tricks on the night- the first ever double hat trick performance for the Ice Cat Things in regional competition.

However, while the ice Cat things are certain to progress through to the 8-team knockout rounds, they will be well aware that as the competition progresses , not only the quality; but also the desire and motivation... and confidence of their opposition would increase. FOR a nation whom have never failed to make an AOHC final appearance, the Ice Cats seem well placed to make a return appearance to the final but there will be plenty of other nations who feel it is their turn to shine and will be setting their sights on the Ice Cat things including the reigning World cup of Hockey champions looking to make a clean sweep of the regional tournament cycle as well as the Worlds #1 ranked nation internstionstatally.

Fabien De Saint-Pierre delivers the win for Kebec
with his goal in the second periodKWS photo

TAXSON (KWS) — Kebec continues to inch closer and closer to a bid at the cup with a stunning victory over highly-ranked hosts, Qasden, the number five team suffered yet to most recent loss to the Kebecois side as Kebec moves forward in its quest to become the first-ever first-time competitors to hoist the championship and steal it from Vilita & Turori, the current defending champions. We saw a lot of action in this bad boy, and we're here to say that Kebec's performance is certainly no fluke and Fabien De Saint-Pierre refuses to go out sad this tourney, he will not be silenced as he moves to three goals in as many games with 1-a-piece, he's certainly a freak-of-nature and his loss will sit badly for Kebec in the next World Cup of Hockey. Alas, we need to savor the taste of him while we still can and he seemed intent on delivering that to the nation as Kebec took home another win for their side and people hack home celebrated a well-deserved win in the city of Destiny.

This was supposed to be the match that would truly separate the ranked teams from the rising Cinderella team, Qasden the hosts entered ranked a feasibly good fifth-ranked in the world, there was not expected to be many issues from their side - known for its resilience and speed they were expected to give the Kebecois team a run for its money and be the true determining factor being what would send Kebec home packing and what would keep it grounded. Meanwhile, on the other side of the ice stood the newly put-together Kebecois squad, coached by a newly-minted Cosumarite who had yet to lose a game at the helm of the Blue Yetis, Alan Foye had been preaching moves to make his offense more explosive, an offensive-minded coach, he brought with him from Cosumar new tactics that he and his head honcho, Coach Casper Burres had used to bring the Word Cup of Hockey championship to Cosumar and hoist it, now, Foye came to Kebec to guide the nation thru the AOHC and help it hoist something it had never hosted. A regional trophy. Of course, Foye is one of the most well-regarded assistant coaches in the multiverse, but he's been tasked with proving he's better than Samuel Philidor who many had expected to be promoted to coach of the national team after an inspiring performance in the 12th edition of the WJHC three years prior. However, Hockey Kebec heavily sought after Foye, and he seems intent on rewarding them for their hard persistence.

However, yet-again, the Cosumarite while an amazing coach in his own right was unable to jump-start a weak offence, unable to create a true juggernaut and master Qasden into submission, however, their defense was par excellence, easily holding the Qasden side to only 7 shots on goal the entire game as Kebec rose to the challenge of competing with a low score. Many had expected a nil-nil scoreline as the third period of play began, however, Fabien De Saint-Pierre was intent on that not happening, playing with superb strength and using his full dexterity, getting sandwiched by two body-checks, he somehow escaped from their clutches to a one-v-one situation with the Qasdonian goalie in the 49th minute of play, facing no choice, he simply went all out, three consecutive shots bounced off the goalie pads before De Saint-Pierre finally hit home and the red goal light started up along with whatever crazy goal horn the Qasden organizers of the AOHC chose to use. For Qasden it was a painful loss that clearly established Kebec as a rising power in the realm of hockey - for Kebec, it was a move to challenge the supremacy of Valanora for this group, forcing many to reconsider Valanora as the top-pick to when the Alpha Group in AOHC 6.

After a much-watched win over the cat-lovers of Qasden, the Kebecois side moves on from the hosts to face the fourth squad left in their undeniable sweep of the group stage, the Kebecois side has entirely shuttered the any chance for the group to move up, Valanora now is forced to watch its back as Kebec slowly prowls towards it. Kebec now serves as the huntress, equipped with the arrows of Artemis, Valanora now has a target on its back as Kebec prepares to take on Farfadillis in what many say will determine who finishes first in their group. If Kebec can handle their business smoothly and cleanly, they'll be sending a message not to just Valanora but to also defending champions Vilita & Turori and also to Cosumar to let them know that Kebec was coming and was aiming to destroy their dreams and the like. It would only be some time until it was their turn. So, now, Farfadillis is by no means a good squad, they registered their first win against lowly-ranked Chromatika which should come as a surprise seeing Chromatika is a ranked nation but that's besides the point. We expect a comfortable win - perhaps De Saint-Pierre can do the impossible and record a hat-trick?

However, for our more international readers, Kebec wasn't the only nation in action today at the AO Hockey Championships, of course as mentioned earlier, Farfadillis squared off against the 7th-ranked Chormatik squad and somehow walked away with a 1-nil victory in hand, there's sure to be a lot of champagne going off in the Farf locker-room after a stunning win in front of a largely neutral crowd. Valanora and Lisander, the other two remaining ranked teams locked heads and despite the fact Lisadner is ranked, they were shown to be outclassed as Valanora walked away with a comfortable 3-nil victory over the 8-ranked Lisander squad. Meanwhile, from the other side of Qasden, Komarov-Thomiya (yet that's right, the same idiots who lost 10-1 to V&T) were able to escape late in the third period with a victory over new-comers Iskandervale (despite the fact Komarov-Thomiya is a ranked team - odd, right?). Cosumar, the defending multiverse-champions lived up to that label and utterly laid waste to the Abahnfleft ally of Oontaz, a 6-nil victory probably saw three players record braces, hell, the entire first line including the goalie probably pitched in with goals of their own. Finally, defending champions, two-time AOHC champions, two-time runner-ups and current bandwagon-assigned team Vilita & Turori marched quietly to a 1-a-piece draw with the Royal Kingdom of Quebec - not much of a surprise here. There seems to e a drop off from the top three in the Atlantian Oceania Hockey Federation teams to the remainder of the ranked teams as they've outclassed the latter five lower-ranked teams.

KWS out.

Mineto on the puck, netting the final goal
as the last seconds died in the matchKWS photo

FYE (KWS) — Kebec officially clinched their spot in the knockout rounds of the sixth edition of the AO Hockey Championships as they nearly stifled Farfadillis's chances for qualification with a stunning 4-1 blow to the double-f side. Mainly relying on the brilliance of Fabien De Saint-Pierre, Kebec clearly outclassed the Farfadillis side, running - or rather skating circles around a clearly un-advanced side as Kebec was able to easily tame them by the mid-part of the second period. Stunning play by De Saint-Pierre moved him into the upper echelon of Atlantian Oceania players, possibly putting him up there as the most-dominant player so far in the relatively short time that the AOHC has ran its sixth competition, certainly, he's stood out among his Kebecois peers, except for perhaps Stéphane Auger who has given up the second-least amount of goals, with only two goals against. However, tis tournament is undeniably the tourney of De Saint-Pierre, this entire tourney is devoted to his going-out year, he's received the blessings of Hockey Kebec to make it all about him and its shone on the ice - he is the law for the team, the sheriff, the President and the justice rolled into one. Even his close friend, Mathieu Gribelin folds into him when he speaketh thy words.

The game wasn't supposed to pose much of a challenge for the Kebecois squad - we even predicted a hat-trick would be recorded by De Saint-Pierre, Farfadillis was and still is quite a weak team in hockey. They'd been thoroughly out-classed each time in their first cycle, a draw with lowly-ranked Lisander wasn't a building-block but actually a disguised setback, Qasden had beaten them quietly 1-nil during their second match, their lone win was against Chromatika and while a win is a win - well a win against lowly-ranked, unknown Chromatika doesn't really count for much, does it? So of course, entering this, we thoroughly expected Kebec to thrash the Farf squad into pulp, the game was essentially expected to be over before even started. Meanwhile, Kebec was a talented squad on the rise, rebuilt by Coach Foye, we were expecting heavy pressing from the Kebecois lines, it was going to be a blood-bath from the start, we knew that.

Yet again, our predictions yielded itself fruits - Coach Foye was able to direct the Kebecois squad to utilize itself correctly, Kebec set the tempo early in only the fourth minute of play, a direct slap-shot from Fabien De Saint-Pierre found the back of the right corner of the net, screaming past the Farf goalie at a gajilli-million kilometers per hour as a impromptu celebration from the Kebecois side began. It would be only right before the first-half intermission when De Saint-Pierre struck again, this time dekeing out a defender before dangling it before the Farf goalie, when the goalie was unable to capitalize, it just required a quick wrist-shot from De Saint-Pierre to put the Kebecois side up 2-nil at the end of the first period of play. The second period was a rather quiet affair for Kebec, however, the Farf side was able to use a power-play 5-on-4 to score against the numbers-weakened Kebecois side when Divine E'lestrage went to the box for slashing. The third period was a revival of sorts for the Kebecois side, De Saint-Pierre contributed his third goal of the game and sixth of the tourney for Kebec on a backhanded shot that somehow found its way thru the pads of the Farf defender to allow for another goal to slip bye. Setting up what would the finale firework from Kebec, Martin Rascales hit Mineto racing along the boards, Mineto was promptly able to avoid two Farf defenders, pump-faking one and simply out-brawling the other before putting on a rapid-fire slapshot at the Farf goalie who stood no chance as it klunked it for the final goal of the game in the dying seconds.

After sustaining their drive with another convincing win in the books, Kebec now turns their heads to their final group-stage match, a show-down with Chromatika is all that is left - with Kebec essentially promised promotion to the knockout phase, Coach Foye has announced the first-line will not be playing in the next game, Stéphane Auger alongside will be sitting this game out and will return when the knockout-phase starts. In his place is young net-minder and goalie of the future Nathan Delacroix, already a top prospect, he spent last season as the back-up for Auger for the Keldax Tridents, he signed a three-season deal with the Merdecini Super League team, the premier squad, the Zoloroni City Icers to be their starting goalie and he seems to be living up to that. Chromatika is the final team Kebec will face the Alpha Group group-stage round in their quest for a AOHC regional championship, there are many who stand in their way, however, it seems Kebec is certainly ready for the undertaking.

Meanwhile, other games were just as exciting, Chromatika man-handled fellow-ranked team, Lisander to a fine scoreline of 3-nil, seemingly bounced back from their loss to Farfadillis a couple days ago, however, they will no doubt suffer a loss at the hands of the Kebecois squad. Qasden quietly stunned second-ranked Valanora 1-nil, a stunner that will leave fans in a state of cationic shock as they realize that Qasden has just bounced back from the L they took at the hands of Kebec. In the Beta Group, we saw Komarov-Thomiya and Iskandervale battle it out a 1-a-piece draw, however, the true story of the Beta Group and what many now consider to be the de facto regional championship was perennial regional-champion Vilita & Turori's dismantling of the World Cup of Hockey multiverse champion juggernaut, Cosumar to a fine tune of 5-nil, that's a goal per period and change, an utter feel-good feeling of euphoria must have ejected thru the nation. Vilita & Turori have scored a whopping twenty - yes, you've read right, twenty, goals thus far in the tournament, so, we're no doubt stunned in their ability to out-class anyone and everyone.

KWS out.

Mineto (in center) battles for his second
goal of the game, finishing with 3KWS photo

DESTINY (KWS) — Kebec walked away comfortably from the group-stages with a 6-1 whopping of Chromatika before a sell-out crowd in Destiny earlier today, the Kebecois side clearly out-classed the Chromatik side which essentially played in a defensive cocoon thru the entire patch due to constant pressuring from the Kebecois side which shone thru much of the match. Coach Alan Foye's side seemed to have finally clicked on offense, a whopping six goals resulted from only six minutes of paly, that's one goal per every ten minutes, this serves as an emotional boost as they prepare tomorrow to take on relative unknowns Komarov-Thomiya in the first match of the knockout-rounds, we expect many to tune in to that match - its supposed to be one of the most-watched matches in Kebecois history. Coach Foye reacted after the game, "[...] our team has had a steady rise, traveling at a steady pace for much of the game, I'm proud to see what we've done in such a short period of time and I certainly am excited for whatever the future holds for us", this was remarked thru a French translator to the Kebecois media at the press-session following the game. Included, Mineto had a real breakout game during this, racking up three goals and making the team quiet hyped, overall a great performance from the rising star.

The final game of the group-stage was really not supposed to be much of a challenge for the Kebecois side - that was obviously anointed the truth after Kebecois coach, Alan Foye chose not to start the first lines and handed over the goal-keeping responsibilities to second goalie Nathan Delacroix, opting to five Auger a breather from the tournament and that was seen by the multiverse as a move of braggadocio however, Kebec used this as a chance to rest their laurels from intense play. Of course, Fabien De Saint-Pierre received his much-needed rest, he didn't register any ice-time despite running regular pre-game practices today, in stead, Divine E'lestrange and Jean-Noël Garreau alternated in-and-out at right-wing, a move that really tested the back-up sides and their depths against the Chromatik team. meanwhile, the Chromatik side had little to no player going for them - we don't even know their roster, the terrible team had only managed to score three goals the entire tourney headed into facing Kebec.

Not much of a surprise here as Kebec utterly throttled and defaced the Chromatik squad - a 6-1 scoreline ensured no one could any longer call the Kebecois side a fluke, wonderful playing from the likes of Mineto and Abélard Duclos ensured Kebec stayed in the match comfortably - despite utilizing their second-and-third lines, in fact, mainly third-lines for the majority of play, the Kebecois side was able to bust out a record-setting six goals while only conceding eleven shots and only one goal - an astounding number and perhaps a testament to the Kebecois spirit and Alan Foye's obviously superb coaching abilities. While this is not a World Cup of Hockey, if Kebec does indeed hoist a Atlantian Oceania Hockey Championship cup will be a good way to start off the Foye-era in Kebecois hockey and will certainly improve Kebec's spot in regional hockey and improve their billing in the world. Mineto had a great performance himself, recording three goals in the 16th, 23rd and 46th minutes respectively, his last perhaps one of the most memorable of the cup - a double-deke of two defenders followed by a pump-fake at the Chromatik goalie, finishing it off with a quick wrist-shot that banked into the net, setting up a hilariously comedic celebration from the Kebecois side. Abélard Duclos - a respected veteran of the KHL-1 and the first-ever MVP of the KHL-1's first-ever league champions, the Albert-Cross Angels also put together a decent campaign for his side, adding two goals from himself - a nice brace that was well-rewarded, scoring in the 26th and 49th minutes. Finally, the most-hilarious goal ever in AOHC history happened in the 58th minute on an empty-net goal from Nathan Delacroix - Kebec's second-string goalie scored from his end of the floor, officially obliterating any chance that Chromatika had to stage a rather quick comeback and thus end the group-stage on a good note.

Despite a relatively peaceful and easy group-stage, Kebec - one of the first first-year teams to finish first in their group now turns their heads towards a more ominious opponent in the form of sixth-ranked Komarov-Thomiya - one of the eight regionally-ranked teams competing in the tournament - Kebec enters the knockout-stages as the number-one ranked team, meanwhile, Kebec enters coming off finishing with a superb undefeated record of 4-1-0. Komarov-Thomiya was able to scrape by Group Beta - just squeaking by in the fourth-spot, using Oontaz as a stepping-stool to catapult themselves into qualification for the final spot, so Kebec will be looking to draw fresh meat from the relatively weak squad. Komarov-Thomiya overall is very weakly put-together, lacking any actual depth, they are not a team deserving of qualication to the knockouts, remember this is the same team who hilariously lost 10-1 to Vilitia and & Tuori - in fact there's a meme in Kebec, those who are losing badly are commonly referred to as "doing a KomaThom." Of course, that game was just the nail-in-the-coffin for the Kom-Thom side, their opening game they dropped to multiverse-champions Cosumar in a stunning 8-3 fashion so, Kebec should walk away with a 7-0 victory at minimum. Hell - perhaps its 10-0?

There were a lot of other games in action today - Valanora completed their groups games with a 2-nil dropping of Farfadillis, doing it quietly too, many are stunned as in shocking news, thy finished second to Kebec in qualifying for the next round of play, that's got to leave a poisonous feel left in the mouths of many Valanorans who were expecting to run away with this group. Lisander and the hosts, Qasden drew nil-nil in Fyre earlier today, Lisander was officially eliminated from knockout-round contention following their bitter draw at the hands of the Qasden side. Meanwhile, in the rather superior Beta side, Komarov-Thomiya had a consolation-victory as they walked over - perhaps skated over? - the side of Oontaz to a tune of 4-1, defending regional-champions, Vilitia & Tuori stunningly dropped one to Iskandervale at a score of 1-nil, leaving many Vilitians and Tuorian people scratching their heads - its a mystery how they lost, however, many suspect foul play. Finally, the Royal Kingdom of Quebec and Cosumar clashed, the defending world champions were unable to get it done as they lost 2-1 against the other Quebecois team.

KWS out.

I know it's late and that I'm already eliminated but I'm just posting my roster for posterity and future AOHCs.

This is Oontaz's first time participating in the Atlantian Oceania Hockey Championship. It was a debut to forget as the White Tigers won none of their six games, drew one (against Iskandervale), and lost the other five. Group β Shines Brightest in AOHC

Image

Despite having scoring the most goals during the Group Stage of the competition, the Vilita & Turori Ice Cat Things backed their way into the knockout rounds after a draw to the Royal Kingdom of Quebec and a stunning upset defeat at the hands of Iskandervale.

Nevermind the fact that Vilita & Turori were resting players for the knockout phase as they had already secured their place in the final 8 heading into the last group stage matchup, the Ice-Cat things were still very much favored to defeat the Iskandervaleans.

It wasn't to be on the night as the 2nd and third string forwards couldn't break through the wall that might have been experienced Iskandabad Wanderers netminder Elshan Abbas wearing the non-traditional goalkeepers number 13. Lucky for Iskandervale and unlucky for the Ice-Cat Things.

The defeat allowed The Royal Kingdom of Quebec to leapfrog Vilita & Turori and take top honors in a stacked and balanced Group Beta with AOCAF Champion Cosumar in third and the newcomers, Komarov-Thomiya, placed fourth.

The format of the knockout round would pit the top team in Group Gamma against the 4th placed team in Group Alpha, and so on down the list. For Vilita & Turori, it was a particularly difficult match against the tournament's hosts, Qasden. Fortunately for the Ice-Cat Things, when their starting players were back on the Ice that had not missed a step and squeezed through to a 3-2 victory over the hosts in Port Harston.

The entire Quarter Final round was filled with intrigue and the most fascinating match on paper was certainly Valanora v. Cosumar fixture - appropriately played in Destiny. The two Giants of international hockey squared off in a tense match that saw Cosumar through 1-0. The real shock of the round, however, came as Komarov-Thomiya put together a convincing display to oust Kebec who entered the Knockout Round as the unbeaten top seed from Group Gamma and the team amongst all competitors that had earned the most points in the Group phase.

While it was known that Group Gamma was slightly weaker on paper than Group Beta, the extent of which was only beginning to be evident when comparing the fate of Group Gamma's top team, Kebec, losing to the 4th place side in Group Beta, Komarov-Thomiya; while at the same time Group Beta's top team, the Royal Kingdom of Quebec, thrashed Group Gamma's 4th placed team Fardaillis by a 6-0 scoreline.

Then, Group Beta's dominance became apparent as all four of Group Beta's knockout round representatives were victorious, completely eliminating all of Group Gamma from contention and setting up a Semi-Final round that would effectively serve to settle scores amongst Group Beta rivals held over from a very hotly contested Group Stage of the competition.

The team will now converge on T.V. City to finish off the competition with Vilita & Turori's Ice-Cat Things squaring off against Komarov Thomiya with a chance to defend their AOHC title on the line while the other Semi-Final fixtures is another heavyweight bout with Cosumar facing the Royal Kingdom of Quebec, the Ice Dragons looking to complete a back-to-back Regional Competition triumph.
