How Were YN's Borders Decided?

How did your nation get its current borders? Is it based on geography, historical borders, or agreements in a peace treaty, or something else?

Welskerland's borders were based on its tribal days, where each tribe occupied a certain amount of land, and when the country was united, all of their land was consolidated under one government and country. Welskerland also did experience a couple of border changes. The first time was before Welskerland was even a country, where one of the tribes was conquered by an invading nation, but the rest of the tribes managed to fight them off. To this day, that one tribe and its territory remain apart of that other nation. After unification, Welskerland went to war with another country and it agreed to cede some of its territory to us in exchange for peace.

What about your nation?

Valgora's national borders were decided based on the landscape.

To the north is the ocean and Valgoran controlled islands. Obviously the national land border stops at the ocean.
To the east is mountains and ocean. Obviously the border ends at the ocean.
To the west is mountains which define the border.
The south doesn't really have a border because of the forest to the south. The border more or less stops a few kilometers into to forest.

It's pretty challenging to draw borders in outer space, so for the sake of convenience, everything within 1 light-year of an Imperial colony is assumed to be Imperial space, our foes abiding by a similar convention.

In disputed regions, of course, the borders are being constantly drawn and redrawn by means of plentiful good old-fashioned bloodshed.

We're an island, so our "borders" are determined mostly by volcanoes and the ocean. There are some man-made effects, such as land reclamation and artificial islands on stilts, but they don't account for a significant amount of our land area.

The borders of Sannerby-Annestad consist of the city of Sannerby-Annestad, and surrounding plains, which were set up based on tradition.

The territory is still commonly called East Angria because Angria and Eastphalia were the first two regions to free themselves and join together.
Our borders roughly coincide with a few dialectal boundaries. Sassony contains the Jutlandic Danish, Frisian, West Low German, West Central German, and Low Franconian regional languages. It is bordered by East Low German, East Central German, Upper German, and the langues d'oïl.

The fact we're an Island

The modern borders are defined by a treaty of the 19th century, forcing Madrinet to cede large parts of its coastal territory to deny access to the sea.

The borders are from when the nations of the United States and Canada existed, and in the case of overseas territory in Russia, was decided by Agenca and Benois when Tektronix fell, and the countries of Spain and Portugal which are also under our control have their original boundaries from when they were independent nations.

The current borders have been drawn by a combination of geography and the machinations of other powers. To the south is the open seas, to the east and west (riverlands and open steppelands, respectively) are our hyper-aggressive neighbours, while the northern borders are covered by mountains and desert.

Before 2012 AD, the borders comprising all of TurtleShroom, with the exception of the area encompassing the city of Gerry, were boundaries representing the farthest extents of the turtle and mushroom Khanates that united with the human Missionary colony in 1796 AD.

Gerry was ceded to The Ctan as part of a defeat in the Dark Harvest wars.

Limited by ocean coastlines. All land within 15 nautical miles of each other is Exodian territory, and were previously unoccupied before Exodians settled there. The "Exodian Territories" are just an archipelago around the size of Cuba and the Bahamas combined.

Our national borders are based upon the landscape and mostly consists of an entire montainous region. Since humans cant really live there we established home there.

Today the borders of the Kingdom of Crookfur are determined by the sea as the Kingdom has complete control over the 3 main islands and many smaller islands that it occupies.

Previously this was not the case, particularly on Crookfur's second island, Covenant island, which was home to several different nations that were gradually incorporated into the Kingdom over time, both peacefully and by strength of arms. The Kingdom's border with these neighbouring nations were generally decided by treaty and based on geographic features such as rivers and mountains.

A planning committee of 12 highly esteemed men deliberated for six months and decided that there should be an ocean placed at certain points surrounding the country.

In seriousness though, Alizeria's border (excluding its EEZ) ends when dirt hits water, and the country is an island.

Cruciland's borders are basically wherever the Nomadic Legion goes. They used to be more rigid, with star systems colonized by Crucilandians forming the basis for deciding where our borders lie, but that drawing algorithm fell out of practice once we packed our things and started romping around the multiverse.

Since Davinhia is an chain of islands, the national border is obviously decided by the ocean.
