After the disaster of a first game for Dan Bundison, you'd have thought he'd have a moment of humble pie or a shift in luck. There was a slight shift in luck. He had been seen in national news and papers leading the Vannish team onto a gridiron field. Of course analysts pointed out more likely prospects for a true leader. It was well known that Bundison was a weak spot.

Still, the guy had a persona. In a side story, Vangazi on the street were interviewed with their thoughts on the QB. Of course, many comments talked about Bundison as 'a joke', 'unfit to QB', 'a good backup' or other similar ways. There were still some who believed, in a way that almost seemed shocking.

"Bundison's a good guy", said Jonas Brontk, a 47 year old bus driver in Emeros, Vangaziland. "He'll take them into the playoffs. Maybe not this year, but he might. I can't say he can't."

"Of course Bundison can take the National Team to the finals. Isn't he the best?" A 24 year old school teacher seemed too trusting of Bundison, saying, "He says he's the best. I once saw him throw four touchdowns in one game!" She started to blush, noted the interviewer/writer.

The story was written in the nation's capital, but Bundison played professionally in a rival city to the North. Seeing Emeros residents supporting the controversial QB said good things for the Vannish footballer's rep nationally.

It wasn't only Tom & Jane on the street that had caught Bundison Fever.

A new footwear company was coming up in Vangaziland. It would be based around gear for the national teams, especially when cleats were required. They planned to get into basketball shoes as well, just because that was the most profitable market in Vannish sports. Field sports would be their niche.

They needed a star. A name. They talked to Iskar Bundison, former Coach at Blue Coast University and long since retired. He'd been looking to invest and had turned down several other pitches. The footwear company approached Iskar with the chance to invest in a product that would reach national athletes. Graphs showed Vangaziland was set to enter teams in sports from the World Bowl to fielding it's first baseball and World Cup teams. The cleat market was set to grow 'a dozen fold'.

Iskar wanted his nephew Dan to headline. He was a pro QB, at least, of sorts. He was known for giving pre-game hangover ratings to the interns sent to cover Vannish Pro football. If he gave a rating under 5, he had higher chances of victory.

The company had concerns. Dan would have to clean up his act. He'd also have to make the national team. The company decided if Iskar could donate over a certain percentage and Dan could start on the World Bowl team, they'd name the company after his family. If anything, Dan Bundison was a rebel. It was that image the company wanted to promote. Most Vangazi athletes were PR artists, giving guarded responses and trying not to stir up too many rivalries.

Bundison was loud, brash and... ridiculous. If there was one thing Bundison could do, he could sell shoes.

Bundi's Ten was the company's headline product. It was available in red, 'gridiron purple' seen on the uniform, 'Vannish Purple' as seen on the flag, black and white. Lower material around the sole is metallic under a glossy iridescence.

The shoe would make it's first appearance against Qasden, a team ranked 48th. It would be Vangaziland's first chance to take a win as an underdog. After losing to an unranked peer, the need for an underdog victory was magnified. This would be Dan's best chance to stand up.

Matchday 2 would be chalked up to several factors for the Vangazi's behalf. Penalties hurt the team on both sides of the field. How could they focus? What would make the team work together better as a unit? Could the O-line knuckle down and not give up space off finesse moves?

There was still the issue of the slow CBs. Run blocking seemed to go well, pass blocking had been terrible. The TE's have not been targeted for a pass once. That leads to the elephant in the room. The man blessed with a multi-million dollar cleat deal was not just blind, but stubborn and predictable in his offense.

The coach also didn't seem inclined to make a change at QB. Back when the national team roster was being put together, Iskar Bundison made a contribution of over 1 million NSD to a community league building organization ran by Coach Tillford. The information only came to light because of one journalist's research.

It looks like bribery, but one interview would almost bail the two out. When the first word went out that Tillford was chosen to be the coach, months before the donation or any contact with Iskar, Tillford said he would pick Bundison for the QB role over any other Vannish quarterback. The donation was still controversial, as talk then rose about favoritism or maybe being a reason why the coach seemed to 'take it easy' on Bundison.

"I'm not into the drama", said Skog the HB. "That stuff is all just Dan. He doesn't represent the team or anything. He's just our crazy Q.B.. We stick by him. That D-line was pretty aggressive, last game. Let's see what he'll do if he can get a bit more comfortable in the pocket."

"Don't count Bundison out, that's all I'm saying", said Coach Tillford. "He gives us the best chance to win. Our team still has to develop in a few areas. While we are, Dan is at the helm, taking control.... Developing the players. It's about the intangibles too. So he's perfect for this team."

After that particular interview, the Coach drove away in a 2017 Vannish Motors Roland luxury sedan. The same factfinder article found out he bought the $58,000 NSD car days after the million dollar donation was made.

The coach said it was a coincidence, that he had been saving, but the donation meant his company was doing better and that now he could spend on that new car. The company runs leagues for all ages in towns across Vangaziland. It's still in a start up phase. One million will go a long way when the main expenses are permits and 800 dollar orders for 8 team's uniforms, each season, each league.

Now Tillford could go into smaller towns. Still, that little boost could be seen as bribery as well. Especially when a better QB seemed to sit on the bench.

The Vangazi would prep for Qasden with mixed expectations.

Sports - World Bowl XXXIII Coverage[/u]

[b]Regulars come out flat, fall to Cosumar, 27-16
Team loses Braanur to undisclosed injury in Matchday 1 loss

Unfortunately, the return of Baeryk Vaalburger did not shake off all the rust that had set in after the team's 39-0 blanking against Abahnfleft at World Bowl XXXII. Or perhaps it wasn't rust. Perhaps simply getting demolished and shut out in the round of sixteen had damaged the Regulars' psyche in a way that could not be repaired right away. Whatever the cause, the Regulars that the country saw last night opening World Bowl XXXIII against the Dragons of Cosumar was not the one fans are accustomed to seeing. To say the team looked flat in the first half was an understatement.

The problems started with the first drive, when a defense that looked half-asleep let the Dragons march 71 yards down the field, yielding an uncharacteristic up-the-gut rushing touchdown to Neptune Trevorrow, blocked for by Major Ackerman. After the PAT, the Dragons had a lead they would never relinquish.

It would not get any better from there. On the Regulars' third play from scrimmage, tight-end Godwyn Braanur came down awkwardly hauling in a 12-yard catch from Graagur Wyrth. Although he completed the reception and converted a first down, Braanur was helped off of the field, favoring his left leg, apparently unable to put weight on his right. The loss of Braanur as a safety valve in the passing game and as a strong-side blocker quickly made itself known, as the Dragons loaded the box against the Regulars' inside attack, stuffing Tormundsunn and Traewyk again and again for short gains.

After the Regulars' first drive stalled around midfield, a punt put the ball back at the Cosumarite 24. From there, Brandon Reigner was able to direct an efficient drive down the field, although this time the defense was able to tighten up on the interior, forcing Reigner to toss the culminating touchdown himself, lobbing a 12-yarder to Justus Bod, who bulled his way over Lyna Donalsunn into the endzone as the first quarter wound down to extend the Dragons' lead to 14-0. Around this time, tailback Bryndyn Traewyk was also helped off the field with an as-yet undisclosed injury.

The rest of the Regulars' first-half drives went no better; at their closest point, they managed to get to the Cosumarite 38 before having Kaarl Hunt's field-goal attempt blocked. Meanwhile, the Dragons followed up their second scoring drive with a third, taking advantage of a short field off of the blocked kick to drive in a touchdown on an end-around run by Nic Perrantes to widen their lead to 21.

Mercifully, by this point, the defense tightened up a bit more, and at the very least, the team was able to turn the remainder of the first half into a battle of punts, until the Dragons were able to break through one more time, on a deep pass from Reigner to Thomen Hanfstaengl, who hauled in a 41-yard pass for a touchdown. This time, however, Ardryk Jaarlsunn was able to break through on the PAT attempt and swat the ball down, halting Cosumar's scoring at 27.

The offense continued to sputter through most of the third quarter, with the swarming Cosumarite defense halting several promising drives. At multiple points, drives that seemed destined for the endzone were limited to Kaarl Hunt field goals of 38, 41, and 24 yards, allowing the Regulars to close the gap somewhat to 27-9 by the end of the third quarter.

The only time the Regulars would manage to find the endzone would be off of a Graagur Wyrth deep pass to Ole Haensley in the early fourth quarter, hitting the wideout with a 34-yard pass for a gap-closing score. Still, even after the PAT, the Regulars were still only at a 16-27 deficit, and there the score would stay for the remainder of the game.

The loss puts the Regulars in an uncomfortable hole in a Group that may prove unexpectedly strong alongside teams like Vangaziland, and the Kiaser Colonies, who notably beat the Regulars in World Bowl XXXII's group stage. Head Coach Vaalburger will be expected to right the ship before the losses pile up, or else his second tenure as the team's head coach may come to a quick end.

Lisander National Gridiron Team

State of lisanderian gridiron football
Lisander doesn't have a national gridiron football league. The principal league of the sport is the Liga Académica Nacional, with 4 universities. AGFA, the Association of Gridiron Football Athletes of Lisander, the first association of the country, currently have plans to a Arena League. Arena Gridiron is the main variant of Gridiron in Lisander, and this team is currently the Champion of Arena Bowl. In WB32, this team was third on its pool.

Other previous participation in International Gridiron includes a 15th place in NSCF9 for University of Saint Michael Archangel. The same team also played Amateur American Football League, and earned a place in Wildcard, before the league fold. Lisander also placed a university students team to World Bowl XXII but failed to qualify.

The Team
20 players, chosen between the alumni of the LAN, will participate in the WB33, and after it, will be drafted to the teams of the new Arena league (that still don't have a date to start).

Our team don't have a nickname. Should we call them the Butterhands?
Erick Morian, for TopSports

Image

The image of Lucas Bizier after another incomplete pass is the perfect representation of this team. In the first game, they only entered the match in last quarter. Today, against Pridnestrovia, the great problem was the passing. The touchdowns of the team were scored in running plays. The pass accuracy was ridiculous today. 39%. Only 39% of the passes reached the desired destiny. And it's hard to win when you face a strong side like Pridnestrovian one. They recently started their own league, and it's a Full-contact one. Yefrem Yakovlev ruled the game today. 27-14 was a clear demonstration of the quality of the other side, and the problems of lisanderian defense.

We have problems in defense. let's face it, our defense is a sieve. We have problems in attack. Our attack has butter on our hands. Why can not we get some flour and some milk and we offer pancakes to our opponents? They are going to devour us anyway.

Hail Mary

Buddharia's Most Trusted Football Source Since Acceptance Into The World Bowl

Still Undefeated!

With a 26-6 victory over New Jarwel we have officially landed in the top spot for group C. We're 2-0 baby and this train just started rolling. Dare I say this is the best start any unranked team has had to the World Bowl? I may not be a World Bowl historian but I'm sure that's a fact. We have the most points scored in the entire group at 60, and the fewest points against at 29 (save for Cosumar, but they have one fewer game played), which gives us a whopping 31 point differential, 16 points higher than The Kiaser Colonies. Those numbers might not seem like much to you, maybe you only care about the W, but trust me that translates to one of the most solid starts on the road to a championship that I have ever seen.

Okay, enough with the numbers, let's get down to business. As expected, our defense held extremely well yet again. We should all send our good man Julio thank you letters for yet another crushing performance. He managed to nab three more interceptions this week nearly running one all the way back for a touchdown but was stopped just short at the 8 yard line. Our D-line held much better against the run this game allowing only 45 rushing yards. This was capped off when early in the fourth as New Jarwel attempted to mount a comeback, they held with their backs to the wall. In a goal line stand on third down, Paul Webb rushed through the offensive line and sacked the QB forcing New Jarwel to kick a field goal. This was pretty much the nail in the coffin for our fellow unranked opponents as they failed to convert one touchdown all game.

You know I've been waiting to talk about it, drum roll please, Cedric Turner! He actually made our offense look alive this game! He converted 17-24 passes for a whopping 214 yards and three touchdowns. Two of those touchdowns came from the hands of Quinn Wallace, our newly appointed starting tight end. Quinn managed to grab eight receptions for 76 yards. It looks like the veteran is stepping up to take us all the way to the championship. It seems Max Townsend has decided to take a different approach at our run game this go around, giving Ramsey and Brown just about equal touches. Together they combined for a decent 68 yards.

With two games behind us our future in the World Bowl is looking awfully bright. Our next opponent will be the true test of our team's capabilities though. We will be up against seventh ranked Allamunnic States who is currently sporting a 1-1 record. Since we hold the number one position in our group, we have the chance to write our own destiny here. Good luck out there boys and show the world what Buddharia has to offer!

Powell's Bruised Knee

The official injury report for linebacker Franklin Powell lists him with a bruised knee. Defensive coordinator Duane Sharp has made it clear this won't stop Powell from playing any games but he will have severely reduced playing time. It doesn't appear to be any cause for concern even if he were taken out though as backup Rolando McGee managed to put the first points on the board for us last game by recording a safety against an unsuspecting New Jarwel running back.

Game 1 Result: United States of Devonta 13, Hampton Island 7

In their first game, the Golden Bears were competitive against the 11th-ranked team in the world. The great play of the defense only allowed their opponent to kick a single a field goal in each of the first two quarters. Connor Steers intercepted the opposing quarterback, who's name is known to us, twice in the first quarter. Early in the second quarter, Peter Regan made a big stop when Devonta went for a fourth and goal situation from the three yard line. Unfortunately, the offense was unable to move the ball. The play that will go down as the first ever run from scrimmage by the Golden Bears was a simple two yard run by Brad Deane.

In the second half, Hampton Island got the neutral fans excited that they may be about to witness an upset when Alex Phillips connected with Zack Jaffe for a 28-yard touchdown reception. It would be the first ever score for the Golden Bears, and gave Hampton Island a 7-6 lead with 8:11 remaining in the third quarter. Unfortunately, early in the fourth, a costly fumble by Deane set up United States of Devonta with great field position, and they would score the winning TD.

The game generated a 4.3 rating score, which was considerably lower then the 8.0 that the HINOS was hoping for.

Game 2 Result- Hampton Island 13, Equestrian States 3

The Golden Bears struck back with a victory in the second with the defense again carrying the load. Connor Steers picked up two more interceptions in the game to bring his total up to four early on, and Peter Regan sacked the opposing QB with an unknown two times, the second of which caused the Equestrian States QB to hobble off the field, but he would return just a couple minutes later. Unlike the last game where Hampton Island trailed 6-0 at halftime on a field goal in each quarter, this time they led 6-0 thanks to that. Phil Belcher connected from 33 yards in the first quarter, and from 40 in the second.

The Equestrian States would have their best drive early in the third quarter, but could only muster a field goal to cut the lead in half. The score remained 6-3 for a long time until late in the fourth quarter, when Quinton Towne crushed an opposing receiver at midfield forcing them to fumble. The fumble was recovered alertly by Daiwan Loomis, who took it 48 yards for the touchdown. It becomes the first defensive score in Golden Bears history, and gave the team a 13-3 lead, and they would not relinquish it.

The rating score for the game saw only a minor uptick to 4.6. The HINOS will be hoping that the win leads to better ratings for upcoming games.

Gabbing on Gridiron
with Dara Keane

Abanhfleft 10 10 3 16 39
Barunia 10 10 10 7 37

Boy, was that a cracking game of gridiron or what? I can still feel my anus clenching itself. Yeah, that's probably going to take some time (okay, a lot) before it will fully and totally unclench, and it'll probably be just in time for it to clench again in the next game.

But enough about this topic that's about to steer straight into toilet humor territory. Let's get to the game itself. Welcome back to World Bowl action, boys and girls! Our first opponent is none other than Barunia, who now have the distinction of being the only national team that also plays as a franchise in another country's league, namely the Pridnestrovian Gridiron Super League. Oh, boy, do the Pridnestrovians have an intense guerrilla marketing campaign up and about for their Gridiron Super League, probably to entice lots of players to take a stab at the damn thing and find fame in a country where the gridiron heroes are still yet to be made. But you know what that means for the Barunians? They've had lots more time playing together as a team than our own team even though we have a bigger league. And that actually makes for a better game for everyone else even though some of us secretly desire to watch shutouts and scores getting run up, but once again that's another story for another time.

Once again, Harrison Aumann was the star of the show, throwing passes left and right and even scoring a touchdown or two for himself. He certainly scored the first touchdown of the game when he couldn't find any open receivers to pass to but did find himself in some space beyond the pocket. But the Barunians had some space for their wide receiver as well deeper into the first quarter and they were able to level the scores almost immediately. We scored a field goal from 34 yards; they scored a field goal from 25 yards. In some deep primordial level of my brain, this was exactly the kind of game that I wanted to watch: end-to-end stuff in which one team almost always has a ready reply for whatever play their opponents had just made. However, in the conscious and pre-conscious part of my brain, I'm at the point of biting my fingernails off as this is exactly the kind of game that Abanhfleft was destined. We would match the opponents score for score until we don't, and then our offense falters and our defense seemingly can't make a stop. And that's indeed what happens later on, but there's a further twist after that so stay tuned to my narrative.

The second quarter was pretty much the same story, although we scored a touchdown first (courtesy of the somewhat unfortunately named Saddam Hussain) and Barunia's reply was a field goal and then they scored a touchdown and we replied to that with a field goal. Like I said before, in a deep part of my brain I was enjoying the fact that this was a very close game and that I was getting to watch all this action, but closer to the surface I'm already very much a nervous wreck as I see these scores not bothering to even be different from one another. Little did I know that I was about to get my wish, but not in the way that I expected it.

In came the third quarter and Barunia came hot right out of the gates and put our beloved Armored Revolutionaries under some impressive pressure. That impressive pressure eventually ended in a free kick for the Reds, and here I was, thinking, Okay, they scored a field goal. No big deal. We'll just score one of our own or maybe even a touchdown. This is still a good game and fun to watch at that. But lo and behold, on 3rd and 1, Harrison Aumann throws a pick! A pick! Barunia get possession right back after we'd just gotten it! It was inconceivable! It was improbable! It was a lot more im-something-ables! But most of all, it meant that Barunia was leading us and had the opportunity to extend their lead! This was when the part of me that liked watching these close games closed up shop and went home while my more surfaced parts of my mind continued chewing on my imaginary fingernails, although at that point I admit that I was also quite close to physically biting my nails off as well. Barunia scored another touchdown, and we struggled with moving the chains until we finally managed to convert a field goal to make sure that we didn't get shutout of the third quarter boxscore.

Now this is probably the point where everyone in Abanhfleft was thinking, It's another typical Abanhfleft performance once again. We're trailing by seven points to an opponent who had a good and well-drilled defense who had already gone through a whole campaign of Gridiron Super League, where word has it that offense is rewarded much more than defense (even though a quick interwebz search reveals that the PGSL also instituted a "Steel Helmet" award for the best defense in the league). Our odds are not looking so good anymore. And it's just typical for us to lose to a team ranked lower than us. Hey, it's been the story of our last few games in the World Bowl so why should it change now? Oh, and just to rub salt into our wounds, Barunia opened the fourth quarter with a touchdown as well. Just so you know.

But, as it turned out, that touchdown seemingly flipped a switch in both our offense and defense. Harrison Aumann was no longer making any mistakes when throwing the ball. We were moving the chains. We also weren't willing to surrender possession so easily to the Barunians. If we could score a field goal from our position then we would do it. And that's how we managed to chip away at the Barunians' lead. Three field goals saw us go from 37-23 down to just 37-32 down. However, time wasn't on our side and we needed a miracle from our defense to get us back possession when Barunia was content to let the clock run down and hold on to their victory. That's when guys like Edmundo Smead and Talib Wahhad shone and did their defensive duties so well that they were able to force first an incomplete pass and then an interception. Harrison Aumann was given the honor of deciding if we were going to win this game or not with a single pass instead of our usual closer Danny Villavicencio, mostly because Harry is our most experienced guy in these kinds of pressure situations. Harry managed to move the chains pretty well considering the situation and then he handed off the ball to Von Colone when they were finally at the end zone, and since the Barunians weren't expecting that, Von got through and landed the TD. Credit to our offense too for going with the simpler PAT instead of the two-pointer. And that's the story of why my sphincter is still very much closed.

Mostly Idiots 3 7 10 7 27
Abanhfleft 10 10 10 10 40

Now this is a way simpler story to tell and my sphincter opened up halfway through this particular game even though there was a point in the third quarter where it threatened to close up tight once again because our opponents got a little bit close to our score, but it opened up and relaxed once again in the fourth quarter.

Well, I won't spend too much time on our opponents' name as it would only lead us nowhere except multiple diversive avenues and trains of thought, but that's to be expected a little bit when your opponents' name is something like Mostly Idiots. I mean, who thought up of their name when they finally got their independence? At least put some thought into it or maybe translate it into your mother tongue or another language just so it doesn't look so, well, stupid.

As for the game itself, it was more along the lines of a training game, the way our offense split open their defense and our defense stopped their offense right in their tracks. Our scores followed a pattern of touchdown-field goal, touchdown-field goal, field goal-touchdown, and then touchdown-field goal to close it off. As always, Harrison Aumann did a good job getting our offensive machine going, and Danny Villavicencio also deserves a shout-out for landing that fourth-quarter touchdown by himself. The opponents got themselves on the board as well so no shutout but that's not really our concern, since we won. Now we're about to go up against Tenburg, a nation which has so far managed to hold their own in this competition. Only time will tell if we will have the same success with them as we had with Barunia and, ahem, Mostly Idiots. Till the next game, then.

Приднестровская Суперлига Гридирон
PRIDNESTROVIAN GRIDIRON SUPER LEAGUE

SEASON I RECAP

Hello once again, comrades and fellow fans in gridiron! Now that Pridnestrovia's campaign in World Bowl XXXIII is off to a winning start and a dominant victory over Lisander, and now that we're all acquainted with the ten teams contesting the Pridnestrovian Gridiron Super League, let's get off to recapping that inaugural season! Who's ready for this wild ride, eh, comrades? Eh?

MATCHDAY ONE
Admiral Novorossiysk 6 3 14 0 23
Yeralenko Torpedoes 0 0 0 7 7

Barunia-Karl Marx Reds 0 14 7 0 21
Sheriff Tiraspol 3 6 0 0 9

Bratsk Dolphins 7 6 7 3 23
Rheinburg Spartans 7 14 7 3 31

CSKA Tiraspol 21 10 9 6 46
Novonikolaysk Sharks 3 3 7 3 16

Dinamo Bender 0 0 3 10 13
Macaresti Gladiators 7 3 0 0 10

Well, so far so good for those who believe in the power of prior results, even though technically there is no prior results from which we can judge the performances of our teams. It's also the day of the favorites, with every side favorited in the matchups winning their first ever games in the first ever season of the PGSL.

Arguably the match of matchday one is the game against CSKA and Novonikolaysk. The Medvedev brothers, quarterback Andrey Nikitich Medvedev and tailback Demyan Nikitich Medvedev were instrumental to the Army Club's triumph over the Sharks; the two of them being completely responsible for CSKA's three-touchdown opener for the first quarter of that particular game. Andrey Nikitich also managed to find Fleftic wide receiver Olav Henderson for a touchdown in the second quarter although beyond that point, the Army Club seemed to be satisfied with holding their lead by way of field goals. Cortez Amoroso, noted graduated of the Ceneisis Naval Academy and second-string quarterback of the Fleftic national gridiron football team (yes, the Fleftic national gridiron football team) scored a touchdown for the Sharks in the third quarter but it was too little too late; CSKA had already gotten the win long before his touchdown was even in the picture.

Other notable matches include the victory of the foreigners from Barunia, the Reds, triumphing over Sheriff Tiraspol (which will surely leave a sour taste in the mouths of Sheriff fans seeing as they lost to a bunch of foreigners while their rivals CSKA blew out their competition on this particular matchday) and the brave but ultimately futile fight of the Bratsk Dolphins, led by Kelly Profit of Thereisnogodistan Community College (and the first ever female player in the PGSL) against the Rheinburg Spartans. Bratsk fans, you can blame Hieronymus Saller for your defeat. He was responsible for five sacks against the Dolphins, three of them on poor Kelly Profit herself. And now that we have had our fill of matchday one action, let's turn our attention to matchday two.

MATCHDAY TWO
Yeralenko Torpedoes 3 0 0 3 6
Macaresti Gladiators 3 0 3 6 12

Novonikolaysk Sharks 0 0 0 7 7
Dinamo Bender 10 20 0 3 33

Rheinburg Spartans 7 7 3 10 27
CSKA Tiraspol 10 13 10 10 43

Sheriff Tiraspol 7 7 0 7 21
Bratsk Dolphins 0 0 0 3 3

Admiral Novorossiysk 3 0 14 6 23
Barunia-Karl Marx Reds 7 13 3 6 29

Matchday two is notable for being the day of the away team, with the away team of four out of the five matchups winning their games. Once again, the spotlight is on CSKA Tiraspol and the Medvedev brothers as they ran roughshod over the Rheinburg Spartans. Hieronymus Saller, who made five sacks in the previous matchday, was rendered mute by the likes of Vilyam Hendricks while the Medvedev brothers got on with the job of winning the game and the day for CSKA. Grzegorz Kimmich and the Spartans' offensive unit did their best to keep up with the Medvedevs but in the end, the Army Club proved too much of a handful for the Spartans.

Another match of note is the one between Admiral Novorossiysk and Barunia-Karl Marx Reds, as Stan Serban mounted a near comeback for his team against the foreigners. However, Serban's heroics would ultimately be wasted simply because he didn't think of doing so in the second quarter, which was when the Reds blanked out the Seamen and went on to build a 20-3 lead, a lead to which they eventually held on despite two touchdowns from Admiral in the third quarter and two field goals in the fourth. Reds offensive captain Anton Dulwich masterminded the Barunian triumph over the Seamen and Keno D'Cunha played his part as well with a 90% pass completion rate and two touchdown assists (if that's even a thing; what I mean is that he made the pass to the receivers who actually scored the touchdowns).

PGSL Table After Matchday Two
Pld W L PF PA PD
1 CSKA Tiraspol 2 2 0 89 43 +46
2 Dinamo Bender 2 2 0 46 17 +29
3 Barunia-Karl Marx Reds 2 2 0 50 32 +18
4 Admiral Novorossiysk 2 1 1 46 36 +10
5 Sheriff Tiraspol 2 1 1 30 24 +6
6 Macaresti Gladiators 2 1 1 22 19 +3
7 Rheinburg Spartans 2 1 1 58 66 −8
8 Yeralenko Torpedoes 2 0 2 13 35 −22
9 Bratsk Dolphins 2 0 2 26 52 −26
10 Novonikolaysk Sharks 2 0 2 23 79 −56

So, looking at the table, it looks as if those you would expect to be at the top are at the top; CSKA, Dinamo and Barunia being the prime examples. Unfortunately, those teams whom you expect to be at the bottom are also at the bottom, like Yeralenko, Bratsk, and Novonikolaysk. But the season is still young; there's still a lot of room for changes and even surprises to happen. And that's it for now. Next time, we'll take a look at matchdays three and four. До свидания.

Not a good start for the Alpine Union

South Fallsburg, Bongo Johnson - (NAP) The Alpine Union didn't start off the World Bowl on a good foot and lost 13-3 against Chromatika. The Golden Bowl now belongs to them. Crockett Burkhead made a 45 yards field goal in the 2nd quarter and it was the only points we made during this game.

Yesterday in South Fallsburg, the Bisons faced Velstrania, an unranked team, and barely won 13-10. The Alpine Union started off with the ball in the 1st quarter and made a 28 yards field goal on their dirst drive, a 5:18 long drive. Velstrania tied the game before the end of the 1st quarter on a 38 yards field goal. The Reprezentacja Alpejski made another field goal in the 2nd quarter and were leading 6-3 at the halftime. With 4:19 remaining in the 3rd quarter, Clifford Jenkins' pass intended to Jarius Floyd was intercepted by Right Cornerback who returned it to the endzone for a pick six and Velstrania were leading 10-6.

5:22 remaining in the 4th quarter, the Alpine Union have the ball at their own 24 yards line. Coconut Riddick ran for 4 yards. Clifford Jenkins passed to John McRae for 7 yards. Coconut Riddick ran for 3 yards. Coconut Riddick ran for 3 yards. Clifford Jenkins passed to Barkevious Hawkins for 15 yards. Clifford Jenkins passed to Demarcus Woods for 12 yards. 2:55 remaining and the ball is now at the 32 yards line in Velstrania territory. Clifford Jenkins pass intended to Jarius Floyd is incomplete. Coconut Riddick ran for 6 yards. Clifford Jenkins passed to John McRae for 5 yards. Clifford Jenkins passed to Jennifer Killebrew for 16 yards. Two minutes warning and the ball is now at the 5 yard line. Coconut Riddick ran for 3 yards. Clifford Jenkins passed to Garrett Van Noy for a 2 yards touchdown. The extra point is good and the Alpine Union is now leading 13-10 with 1:23 remaining and this is the final score.

The Alpine Union has now 1 win and 1 loss and is tied in 3rd place with Velstrania and Space with 3 points. The Alpines' next game is against Rhineland Sued, another unranked team which has 2 losses in 2 games so far. Coconut Riddick is probable with a nose injury and Lavonta Thomas is questionnable with a foot injury.

THE ROCKET REPORT

ROCKETS UNBEATEN AFTER TWO

by Brianne Henry,

The commitment to defense for the World Bowl has paid a couple of early dividends. At least, that’s what people will tell you who are in favor of the controversial coaching staff overhaul and many roster changes. Those who are against those changes and feel that the Empire have made a mistake are part of the “It’s too early to tell, it’s only been two games” crowd. So, depending on your opinion of the move before things kicked off in Bongo Johnson, the drumbeat that you are playing about the first two games is a product of it.

Let’s take the first game, against Gregoryisgodistan. They came into this tournament as the fourth ranked team in the world, and are likely grateful that their ranking has held up in this tournament the way that it has not in the World Baseball Classic. We don’t know anything about their roster, but more then likely it is full of Slaves, Police Officers, and Pervert Chasers, all of whom are sure to worship their false idol as often as they possibly can. And before you make fun of that, remember that there are some people in Tundra Falls who do the same thing about the Spirits of Proving Grounds. So perhaps, Gregory really is a God, as are the Spirits, and they all got together and decided, “Let’s call this one even. Make it a draw.”

Fine, so that’s a bunch of nonsense, but the end result was the Rockets and the, let’s call them the Grid Slaves on a hunch, finishing in a 17-17 tie. The game was as evenly played as the score suggests, but how much of that can be a credit to the new focus on defense. After all, the Grid Slaves historically have been a defensive team themselves, so its not as if the sky blue were playing an offensive juggernaut, unless there is something new that I do not know about. Newmanistan did force three turnovers, which was impressive, including a key fumble by the Gregoryisgodistan halfback as they were in a 1st and goal from the 3 situation. We’re not sure what Lord Gregory has done about this indiscretion, but the fumble was a result of crushing hit by Pedro Cardenas. That came in the second quarter, when Newmanistan led 7-0. That score was thanks to the kind of drive that would make coach Marvin Dineen proud, ending in a four yard run by Cameron Hall.

The teams went into halftime all square at 7, and exchanged field goals on their first possessions of the second half to make it 10-10. The Rocket defense could not stop the Grid Slaves from scoring again to make it 17-10 with 4:03 left in the third, but from there on, they were simply unstoppable. Fortunately, the Rockets had another drive in them in the fourth and tied the game up at 17 with 6:17 to play on a second TD run by Hall, this from eight yards. At that point, neither defense would bend, and overtime could not determine a winner.

With the draw in hand, one that probably will be more good then bad for the Rockets given the opponent it was against, the sky blue took to the field against New Danican. Would the Rockets take this opponent for granted? Not exactly. Offensive captain Ricky Longhurst told us before the game that he, “Taped up the boxscore of New Danican beating the great Schiltzberg in MD1 of World Baseball Classic 40, and then again later in the classic a second time as a motivational tool to not take that team lightly.” The message was delivered, and the Rockets were dominant, allowing the opponents to score only a field goal, and to only cross midfield three times for the entire game. Meanwhile, offensively, Ryan Larkin threw two touchdown passes, completing a 17-for-27 day overall for 238 yards, one to Kevin Ambroziak and the other to Jovan Carter in the victory. Michael Krizman connected on field goals of 32, 38, and 43 yards for the Rockets, who also had a pick-six from young Brian Headley to account for the 30 points. This was a much better defensive performance, and will serve as early evidence that the changes made were for the best. Critics will still say it is too early.

Up next for Newmanistan is HUElavia. Yes, you need to capitalize those first three letters. Why? I am not exactly sure, but just do it. They are unranked so Newmanistan will be the favorite.

Chapter 3: Inner Workings

There are several factors that can make or break any team. There are, as previously mentioned, the physical condition of the team, the set of players, their skill levels, knowledge of the game, the competency of the coaching staff, the list goes on. All these things can be fixed, replaced and rebuilt relatively easily. For fitness, you exercise. For player numbers, you train some up or invite them to the camp. If the coaches aren't getting the desired results, you find one capable of doing so. But one piece which is not so easily mended, is the top two inches; the mental state of the team.

Of course, confidence is an issue. Whether you're a top tier side that wins World Bowls, or a minnow of the sport, confidence can grow and decline. A championship side losing an opening game, a derby match or a play-off game can instantly knock them down a peg or two. A lesser side like the Kiaser Colonies without the high expectation can often get away with these singular upsets. What can get them however, is the continual run of losses. Finding yourself amongst bigger and better sides, you can quickly become the whipping boys. The defeats start racking up, the points differential sinks further and further into the red, fans start to lose interest. At this point, it can take a few consecutive wins against similar opposition or a big upset or two to turn things around. Such was they way the Kiaser Colonies had to work to the World Bowl for the second time running. After a few tough early defeats at the start of the process, Leonard James managed to rile up the charges. As the number of games counted down, the Kiasers began picking up the much needed W's in some very important must win games to pull themselves over the line in the qualification process.

As well as confidence and a winning mentality, teams and players need to have concentration, focus and nerves of steel for a big occasion. Most players have their own way of achieving this and trying to stay calm on game day. Some keep to themselves, listening to motivational playlists and only tune in when necessary briefings and team talks. Other players like to psych themselves up by mixing in with other like minded individuals, chatting and joking away trying to treat it as any other moment to stave off pressure. Some captains or playmakers like to keep looking over and discussing playbooks so they are as tuned in to what they are doing as possible. Lucas La-Bier even liked to write haikus to get in the zone. However, there are also coaches who like to have a well regimented routine to get the whole team on the same wave-length for the game. This method can indeed be quite effective when executed right, but the Kiaser Colonies coaching staff were unanimously in agreement that the best thing for the team they had was to let the players do their own thing to prepare mentally for the game.

"My client has no further comment. We already told you the facts and this continued questioning is, frankly, very unethical," Griffin's lawyer, Max Carr, said to a South Tip sheriff.

The sheriff surveyed the look on Carr's face for a moment and replied, "I'm just trying to get the facts straight. I have two injured people and witnesses that say your client attacked them."

"Ha, Mr. Griffin is the real victim here. He was trying to enjoy some entertainment in a public venue and was assaulted by drunk racists."

The sheriff let out a sigh and said, "As far as I can tell Mr. Griffin drunkenly assaulted-"

"How many times do I have to tell you, he wasn't drunk! He didn't have a sip of alcohol all night but you refused to test his BAC and just claimed he was drunk!"

"Sir, don't interrupt me again. He assaulted two citizens in a foreign country he is a guest in. That doesn't bode well for him."

"Let me correct you, he was the one assaulted and by other citizens of Buddharia. This matter shouldn't even be settled here. It should be settled by Buddharian courts!"

"I don't care where they were from, an assault was committed here in the glorious Incorporated States and that makes the matter by business."

"This is ridiculous, we are done talking. Are we free to go while you finish this so called investigation?"

"I don't know how things are done where you come from, but being a rich sports star doesn't mean you can walk free if you're a dangerous criminal around here. We're holding Mr. Griffin until this matter is cleared up."

"Outrageous! I will sue you all to-"

"And Mr. Carr if you don't shut up I'll hold you here overnight as well." The sheriff walked around to the other side of the table, cuffed Griffin, and started leading him out the door. He paused for a second by the door and turned his head to Carr, "I'm sure you can see yourself out."

PLAYLIST

01/Series Theme: Papercut, Linkin Park
02: The Mole, Hans Zimmer
03: Supermarine, Hans Zimmer

Part Three.

The Black Gold was on high alert, as the Blasistas held the superyacht and navigated it towards their destination, an agreed upon meeting place in Rushmore that hadn’t been disclosed to anyone but the people at the top of the operation. While some of their support had come from Balandin, they were delivering the prisoners to the people who had put Balandin up to the task of hiring them, in the first place. The foreigners.

The Gallian Union had been rivals with Bojikstan since the nations had met, and their battles had been mostly on the naval front. The Gallians believed that Rushmori Bojikstan should be part of their Union, or at least an independent country, and the Bojikstani trading companies had long been involved with those islands and had long committed what the Gallians considered human rights abuses, during their occupation. With the Federal Council being dominated by environmentalists, and the general attitude of the country being that it was their duty to protect the world from itself and act against corporate greed and the destruction of the environment, it was natural that there would be conflict between the Union and the oil companies.

Not many expected that conflict to turn into the Gallians going to their allies in Bojikstan, however, and inquiring about action against some of the figures within Zhirov Oil that could give them leverage. Those inquiries turned into more and more secret talks that resulted in the Balandin Corporation going through the Blasista Front to capture Petro and Ana Kozlov, who would be valuable hostages. At worst, the Gallian and Balandin funded Blasista movement would receive big money from their ransom. At best, it could be something to force Zhirov Oil out of Golden Atoll.

“Our sponsors haven’t told you? We’re docking outside of Lismere, in the south of Gallia. At our current pace, we’ll be there inside of the next twenty four hours. The Gallian special forces have arranged to pick up the prisoners, and they want to spend some time interrogating them and getting any useful info before they turn them over to us to ransom off,” said the leader of the operation, Subcommander Fernando Del Real. “Their involvement, however, will still be from the shadows.”

Lieutenant Eduardo Baglien raised an eyebrow. “Nobody is going to notice the missing superyacht showing up in Gallian waters and being met by Gallian special forces? I would rather get the ransom over with, as soon as possible. The longer we wait, the bigger the chances are that the authorities from Bojikstan show up, with the big guns.”

“The port is going to be closed, and all of the roads in the village are going to be blocked off. We aren’t going to Lismere, we’re going to a smaller village that’s near it. The waters are also going to be patrolled, and the Gallian Navy is going to turn anyone back that comes too close to us. We’re well taken care of on this operation.”

“Alright,” says Baglien, before looking towards the door and standing up and reaching for the holstered pistol at his side. “Wait a minute, did you hear something? Sounds like suppressed gunfire. The hell is going on up there?”

“The upper decks?”

“Yes, and now I hear shouting.”

Del Real stands up from the table and rushes out of the room, picking up the shotgun that had been lying in front of him while he’d been talking before. “Hopefully, it’s just a misunderstanding between a few guards who were a bit too paranoid and trigger happy,” he says, following Baglien towards the stairwell to head to the upper deck. “But I don’t have the feeling that it’s that simple or easy to deal with.”

***

“Fuck, I can hear backup coming,” Raquel says, leading her group of Drustvo as they backtrack down the hallway they had just entered, where they had immediately bumped into a three man patrol that must have come to investigate the noise above deck. Now, there’s more boots approaching them, and Raquel can pick out at least three more voices. “Costa, gimme one of your grenades. Smoke. Everyone, start running.”

“What are you going to do-”

“Now!”

Costa hands Raquel one smoke grenade, and then obeys her order to start running. The hallway forks, and Bojovic and Costa take one route, while Leon takes another. Their enemies are about to run around the corner, but when they arrive, they’ll only find Raquel. If they can even see her. She throws the smoke grenade down, filling the hallway up with smoke, and as soon as the Blasista soldiers step around the corner, they realize that they can’t see a thing.

Raquel holds her fire, waiting for just the right moment, a moment when they’re all in her range and she can mow them down before they can return much fire. She counts down to three, to two, and to one, and then squeezes the trigger of the AK-74 and sprays through the field of smoke, catching the Blasistas by surprise and apparently gunning down the patrol. And before the backup can show up, she takes off running, turning left and taking the same path that Costa and Bojovic had. “That patrol is down, but we should keep moving. The ship is going to be on alert after that,” she tells them. “I don’t think our prisoners are on this deck, either. There were no guards, and nothing to show that someone is being held here.”

“We’ll head to the storage deck, but they probably already know that we’re headed down there,” says Bojovic, looking over his shoulder. “The maps said that there’s another stairway, if we keep moving in this direction-” he starts, before stopping his sentence when the lights come on. “Fuck. They know we’re here, alright. Someone must have heard the noise, or survived and phoned for help, and now they have the lights on to look for us-”

“Just a minor change of plans. No plan survives contact, you know.”

“That’s a cliche-”

“But it’s one for good reason,” says Raquel, picking up the pace. “Costa, keep your eyes on our backs. No turning back right now, we might as well keep going and hope these guys move slowly. And let’s hope Leon doesn’t have a run in with them, off by himself.”

Another unconvincing win for the Alpine Union

Las Englesas, Bongo Johnson - (NAP) The Alpine Union won 16-14 against Rhineland Sued which is another unconvincing win against an unranked team. Rhineland Sued started off with the ball in the 1st quarter and scored a touchdown on their first drive. The Alpine Union followed with a 33 yards field goal in the 1st quarter and a 4 yards rushing touchdown by Coconut Riddick in the 2nd quarter and the Bisons were leading 10-7 at the halftime.

Crockett Burkhead made a 40 yards field goal in the 3rd quarter and the Reprezentacja Alpejski were leading 13-7. With 2:38 remaining in the 4th quarter, Rhineland Sued scored a touchdown to take a 14-13 lead. The Alpine Union have the ball at their own 26 yards line with 2:34 remaining. Clifford Jenkins passed to Demarcus Woods for 18 yards. Clifford Jenkins' pass intended to Jarius Floyd is imcomplete. Clifford Jenkins passed to Jennifer Killebrew for 25 yards. Two minutes warning, the ball is now at the 31 yard line in Rhineland Sued territory. Coconut Riddick runs for 7 yards. Clifford Jenkins passed to John McRae for 4 yards. 1:25 remaining, the ball is at the 20 yards line. Coconut Riddick runs for 4 yards. Coconut Riddick runs for 2 yards. Barkevious Hawkins runs for 3 yards. 4th and one at the 11 yard line with 5 seconds remaining, Crockett Burkhead attempts a 28 yards field goal and the kick is good, the Alpine Union won 16-14!

Once again, the Alpine Union barely won against an unranked team and is now in 3rd place in group F with 6 points. The Bisons' next game is against North Dajao, another unranked team but they look slightly better than Rhineland Sued or Velstrania. Lavonta Thomas is probable with a foot injury and Kris Hunter is probable with a hand injury.

Vannish Gridiron sat through a BYE week on matchday 3. Even without playing a game, the week didn't go quite well for the Vangazi. Things weren't decidedly 'bad' at this point. A few close games would make Vangaziland's battle even tighter.

Buddharia lost to Allamunnic States by less than 7. The latter team is ranked in the top 10. Buddharia has made an early impression as a defensive team. Their strategy is aggressive in play-calling and the line is skilled enough to handle it. Vangaziland would have a tough time emulating such a close score against a top team.

Vangaziland had other defensive strategies, with strong prospects at linebacker and safety. The team was still developing corners. The D-line was oriented more towards jamming up runs than quick blitzing. These sorts of top teams had clear advantages over the Vangazi. Every game would be a battle.

The Vangazi could probably put up two TDs against AS. They might allow five though. This is why some Vannish analysts considered matchday 3 a positive for Buddharia.

Vangaziland pulled off it's first underdog win in the World Bowl on Matchday 2. They faced Qasden, ranked 48th.

"They weren't one of the top ranked teams", said Coach Tillford. "We still had to game plan and play well to get this win."

Plays called by the head coach, offensive coordinator and Dan Bundison himself were spread well between air and the ground. Filip Skog picked up another 2 TDs, running up the middle in the red zone. The O-line and even the TEs and FB did well blocking for the stout HB.

This time, Bundison found space, with less aggression from the opposing D-line.

He favored Erik Bergum, operating from the slot. Bergum picked up 100 yards with 2 TD receptions. Parker Vaangard at 1st option picked up 63 yards, but in fairness, was covered pretty well. Dan didn't feel like testing Qasden's top CB too often.

Fred Loxingsen also picked up a TD along with 2 other non-scoring receptions. He mostly ran short yardage routes, but did have a chance to head out for potential 1st downs. These could be routes to the corner, streaks or other cuts. He just wasn't the fastest. When other receivers drew defenders' attention with their routes, his impact was magnified.

Loxingsen and Stance were also both decent blockers, at least challenging the big defensive players. Without a power back, the need for blocking was magnified.

Bundison went 14 for 20 for 211 yards. It includes a 35 yard pass to Vaangard and a 26 yard pass to the speedy Matty Julius, both of which are responsible for inflating the 'yards per reception' average. Many of his passes were around 8 yards. A few were a little higher, but not as dramatic as the top two.

Vangaziland tried to pass on a few short yardage plays, but failed to convert. Bundison was sacked twice and threw one interception.

After the game, a journalist approached Bundison looking for a serious interview. "Must be the shoes", was Bundison's only reply, sarcastically referring to a commercial. He then took the University Gridiron MVP pose, as seen on that trophy's figurine and on statues. He raised one foot, clad in his signature cleat, and imitated a stiff arm on the journalist, before jogging away from the camera and crew.

Phoenix off to strong start in World Bowl 33

Image
Veteran receiver Manny Hayes makes a catch and run in Sunday's game against Hampton Island. Hayes had 112 receiving yards and a touchdown in a 38-7 victory.

The Kaboomlandia Phoenix are on a quest this tournament. They've been a group-stage juggernaut in the World Bowl, having won twenty-seven straight preliminary matches dating back to the third game of World Bowl 30, hosted in Ethane. But the magic ends there, as the team has infamously bombed out of the playoffs in the first or second rounds in World Bowls 26, 27, 29, 30, 31, and 32. "I'm sick of it, we all are. This year is our best shot ever to finally break through and we're doing it together," said longtime receiver James Malone after a 38-7 crushing of Hampton Island on Sunday.

The team is certainly looking like they're on form in this tournament, cruising to easy 34-7 and 38-7 victories over Newlands and Hampton Island, respectively. Travis Reuben has started both games and has been strong already, throwing for almost 750 yards and six touchdowns in the two wins. "Travis is our leader every game, he can just go out there and always seem to find open guys to throw to," praised receiver Brett Schremp, who has had 158 yards and two touchdowns in two games.

The real powerhouse behind the vaunted Phoenix offense when in the red zone is Andrew Michaels. The veteran power back, in his eighth season with the national team, has used his size to absolutely bull through lines when in short range. While he's only had 163 rushing yards in two games, 73 of those have been inside the redzone and he's scored three touchdowns. "Andrew's a real competitor, he knows his size is his best weapon and he's always one of the hardest-working guys in the room to train," said head coach Ryan MacLeod.

The Phoenix will next play one of their toughest games on the schedule, against group-leader Free Republics.

Game 3 Result- Kaboomlandia 38, Hampton Island 7

The Phoenix of Kaboomlandia, the #2-ranked team in the world provided a reality check for the Golden Bears last night. After Hampton Island was very competitive in a 13-7 loss to United States of Devonta, ranked 11th, and then a win over Equestrian States, you had to say that the Golden Bears were looking good. Last night, Kaboomlandia showed our team that we still have a lot of work to do. Kaboomlandia found the end zone on their first three possessions, with quarterback Travis Reuben completing the first eleven passes he attempted overall. In quick 21-0 hole, Hampton Island players seemed frustrated, but tried to show some fight in them. The Phoenix would kick a field goal late in the second quarter to lead 24-0 at halftime. The second half was not as bad, though Kaboomlandia may have backed it down a bit themselves. The opponents scored one TD in the third quarter to make it 31-0, which led to the only brief moment of Golden Bears excitement when Shazan Williams took the ensuing kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown. In the end, Kaboomlandia wins 38-7.

HINOS reports that the game received a 6.5 rating share, which represents a nice improvement, though still behind the 8.0 goal. President Stafford is hopeful that the magnitude of this loss will not turn people away.

North Dajao 1-1 in Worldbowl!

After a disastrous game against Taeshan, one riddled with interceptions and missed field goals, the North Dajao National Team finally managed to pick up a win against Space.

In a game that ended 19-30 we saw Tight End Pete Janowski prove himself to the team by catching two touchdown passes and six first down passes. Janowski, who took the place of starting Tight End Henry Baliffson, is only supposed to play for the group matches but Offensive Coordinator, Pete Yousk, says differently.

"Look I'm not promising anything yet but if Janowski keeps working hard, Baliffson may not have a place on our team, come the must-win matches," said Yousk to an NDSN reporter today.

North Dajao Sports Network wishes the best of luck to the national football team in this years World Bowl

Tennish International Sports Network Presents
THE WEEKEND ROUNDUP

Gridiron football's Tenburg Volunteers have gotten off to a respectable start in their World Bowl debut, now sitting at 2-1 after a 31-17 loss to Abahnhfleft. Damien MacGregor has thrown for just over 1,000 yards and three touchdowns to one interception. Donald Black has four sacks already... thank the gods for the Greystone Pirates.

WGP2 driver Jack Kelly was released from hospital over the weekend after his scary crash at the Grand Prix of Spaam. He's expected to miss the next two rounds of racing. This will certainly hurt his championship hopes, as he had been second in driver standings before the crash.

In Premier League news, striker Killian MacDonald of Bartram City FC has broken the league record for fastest to 50 goals, taking just two matches into his second season to do so, including an impressive hat trick against longtime rival Port Pierce FC. Thanks in part to his efforts, Bartram is second in league standings, as opposed to last, where they were before his signing. Many in the association football world believe MacDonald to be a transcendent, once-in-a-generation talent.

It seems that the giant influx of money into the National Baseball League following Tenburg's successes in their first World Baseball Classic may end up having some cap casualties, as the new cap limit, though triple the old one, won't take effect for another two seasons. This leaves the champion Tallow RiverSharks in a particularly bad position after the signing of ace Leo Kaiser, as it may see them lose Rory Quinlan, Michael McGuire, or even right-fielder Jack Lynch, to another NBL team or even a club elsewhere in the world. Rumor has it that Lynch in particular has been subject to recruiting efforts by Newmanistanian pitcher Courtney Duvall, to come play in that nation's domestic league, known to be one of the most competitive in the world.

And that's your Weekend Roundup, sponsored by Izava: The True Driver's Car
