Host Bid:

Rhineland Sued World Bowl XXXIII

Yes, that's a new person speaking. But hey, I'm just as experienced with Football as you are. This is my first championship, and I semi-watch the game. But I do indeed have a scorinator for American Football. So here is how it goes:

We will aim for an even number of teams. Any number that ends with 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8 will do. We will split the teams in half, each a conference. The winners of the conferences face off. 10v10, 9v9, 8v8, so on. We look for a number 16-24, but if we come to 32, we will have 4 conferences.

In each conference, you face a team once. 3 points for a win, 1 draw, 0 loss. Simple. Then, you face out-of-conference, even if you come last.

The tournament will last a different # of days depending on the team amount.

16: 10 days
18: 11 days
20: 12 days
22: 13 days
24: 14 days
32: 9 days

And finally, I will tell you my scorinator: NSFS 3.

Football Simulator, eh? Why not xscorinate? That is way too complex, especially with player rankings instead of team rankings.

Thank you, and good night!

Since we now have a host bid, the deadline for bids will now be 10 PM Eastern Time (US/Canada) on Saturday August 19th. This is 2 weeks and 6 minutes after Rhineland Sued's host bid was posted.

I will be updating the signup list through Space momentarily.

Rhineland:

-- What is your hosting experience?
-- You have said nothing about playoff format. What is it?
-- "In each conference, you face a team once. 3 points for a win, 1 draw, 0 loss. Simple." -- This isn't soccer. I wouldn't vote for the bid on this basis alone even if everything else was great.
-- How are you going to evaluate RP's for a game you do not really understand, as evidenced by the above?
-- Out of conference format? You're getting a little complex for a not as experienced host.

I hate to come out and say this, but I sense you plan on making up scores and then formatting tables to make it look like you aren't. Please show me a tournament you hosted, and not the Ringball thing (as this was not a tournament, and seemed to be more of a "friendly" style of scorination, so it is not really relevant), to where I can have this concern go away.

Actually, that's not how xkoranate works for team sports. In xkoranate, "Participant" refers to the team name, "Team" is for trigrams (primarily useful if you're hosting the Olympics), "skill" is for the rankings (and also where you add RP bonus to, as the RP bonus section exists to make it easier to scorinate the Olympics at the expense of being less precise and not as easy to understand as adding bonus directly to "skill") and "style" is for style mods. Granted, this isn't exactly relevant to your bid since you're using NSFS instead of xkoranate but I figured it'd be helpful for you in the future since you'll probably end up using xkoranate at some point if you keep hosting long enough.

We already have 33 teams, and with two weeks left in signups there's likely to be more. Additionally, most recent World Bowls have been with 40-48 teams.

1. I have made a bid in soccer torunaments only
2. Just a regular match
3. Never said it was soccer. I said that 3 win, 1 draw, 0 loss. They do it in other sports, too.
4. I know about the game, just not the value of the positions
5. Just face the team of the same number.

I'll create one... and I won't "make up scores". I will actually use NSFS. If I must, I'll give a screenshot every matchday.

Rhineland, I don't want to discourage your enthusiasm, but maybe you can hook up with an experienced person out there and be their co-host. You still didn't answer the playoff format question in a way that makes sense. Yes, other sports used 3/win, 1/draw, but football does not. Draws are considered 50% of a win in this sport. (Though at the same time, what OT format are you using?) You can benefit from being with an established host, and I suggest you re-consider going that route.

Taeshan World Bowl 33 Bid

About the host Nation

Taeshan has long been a big part of the World Bowl community winning the first edition, finishing 2nd in the 7th and has had multiple top 4 finishes, and has likely made the playoffs in over half of the tournaments the team has taken part in and likely in over half of the World Bowls. Taeshan is also one of the most notable nations of the international sports scene for almost a 100 NS years.

The user behind Taeshan has massive experience hosting smaller events, and some large scale events. Most notably Copa Rushmori 14, and the 55th Cup of Harmony. He has since taken a more hands off approach to the NS world, while continuing to participate many of the more ingrained sporting events. The user also has massive experience running multiple leagues including the Taeshani Football, Basketball, Hockey, and Rugby leagues.

Scorination
While generally the NSFS scorinator is favored by the host, he also has experience using Xkorinate and as such has chosen to use the more actively used scorination system around the NS verse. The SQIS formula will be used with IFAF overtime rules.

Tiebreakers
Points
Head 2 Head
Point Differential
Play In

Cumulative RP Bonus will be used as is tradition. Other usual RP practices and grading criteria will be used. IF Taeshan makes it to the playoffs a third party will be used to scorinate games involving them.

Groups
The Groups will be used with a home and away style in the Group Round. All playoff games will take place in Taeshan. Hence Home field advantage will be used in the group stage. With each team getting to play each other team home and away.

Group Possibilites
36 - 9 Groups of 4
40 - 10 Groups of 4
42 - 7 Groups of 6
44- 11 Groups of 4
48 - 12 Groups of 4

In all cases the top 2 will automatically qualify with play in games used with lowest seeds when necessary. In the 42 team case the top 2 third place teams will also qualify. Groups will be randomly drawn based on most up to date rankings. Cut off times for games will be determined upon announcement of dates of the tournament.
Champions - Copa Rushmori 22, Cup of Harmony 35, Di Bradini Cup 19, World Baseball Classic 13, Gridiron World Championships (World Bowl 0), World Bowl 34, World Lacrosse Championship 2

World Cup Qualifications-41, 44, 46, 59, 61(RoS), 62(Quarterfinals), 63 (RoS), 64 (Quarterfinals), 83, 84 (RoS), 85, 87

Hosts-Cup of Harmony 55, Copa Rushmori 14, Sporting World Cup 10,

Bid for the World Bowl XXXIII: Bongo Johnson

Image

The rhythm rises once more.......will you answer its call?

About Bongo Johnson
The Incorporated States of Bongo Johnson is a thriving coastal nation located in the southern region of Esportiva, and previously hosted the last iteration of the World Bowl. It is a haven for sports, with hundreds of teams in multiple professional sports teams calling the Incorporated States their home. Its left-leaning democratic government is renowned for its universal access to healthcare and progressive yet reasonable social rights. Bongo Johnson is clean, virtually free of crime, and sports one of the regions highest performing public education systems. Its capital, Murbley, is a bustling hub of commerce, nightlife, and tight knit community neighborhoods.

American football is the national pastime for every Bongonian. Bongo Johnson's domestic league has three tiers of promotion and relegation, and even the smallest boroughs command a team with a dedicated and passionate following. The de facto international team, the Murbley Mighty Kittens, are the only team in the now defunct Global American Football Association to complete an undefeated season. They have also commanded significant results in tournaments such as previous World Bowls, as well as the Gridiron Champions League.

Although the Incorporated States has never won a World Bowl, it was honored to be trusted with hosting duties for World Bowl XXXII and hopes to once again unite all walks of life in one of the world's premier sporting tournaments.

Venues
Bongo Johnson has stadiums of varying sizes scattered across its sprawling lands. The biggest, the Murbley Coliseum, is located in the capital.

Image
Built: 2003
Capacity: 81,435

Additionally, group stage matches will be played at the following stadiums:

StrattonBank Stadium
Stratton, Halien
Capacity: 60,565

The Dannydome
South Tip, Leckar
Capacity: 55,325

Brinkley Memorial Gardens
Entent, Robejo
Capacity: 39,600

More stadiums are under the careful eye of the Incorporated Sporting Administration as potential sites for World Bowl games. These locations will be announced as necessary.

Scorination and the nitty gritty

Xkoranate will be used, with the "Post World Bowl XXXI" SQIS-IFAF overtime ruleset. All matches will be played within Bongo Johnson in true "World Cup" style. There are no home field advantages for teams selected as the "home" team.

Knowing that the World Bowl often reaches around 48, the following tournament style will be retained from World Bowl XXXII. This system can be scaled up with the number of sign-ups, so long as there remains an even number of teams:

Thirty-two signups = Eight groups of four, double round robin, top two advance to the playoffs.
Thirty-six signups = Six groups of six, double round robin, top two teams advance plus top four third placed teams advance to the playoffs.
Forty signups = Eight groups of five, double round robin, top two advance to the playoffs.
Forty-two signups = Six groups of seven, double round robin, top two plus top four third placed teams advance to the playoffs.
Forty-eight signups = eight groups of six, double round robin, top two teams advance to the playoffs.

TIEBREAKERS:
1) Points
2) Head-to-head points
3) Overall point differential (calculated as points for minus points against)
4) Play-in match

Playoffs will be single matches. RP bonus shall be cumulative. To encourage the spirit of RP, the bonus scale will not be revealed, but points will be given for creativity, effort, etc. as fairly and objectively as possible. In the event that Bongo Johnson makes it through the group stage, third-party scorination will be requested. If anyone has any suggestions on certain aspects of this bid, please feel free to share them. This is the World Bowl - input from all nations is welcomed and appreciated!
