Basrani Civil War: Escalation [IC]

Postby Basran » Tue Jul 18, 2017 2:21 am

DO NOT POST IF YOU HAVE NOT APPLIED HERE AND BEEN APPROVED BY THE OP!!!

Background

In early 2010 the world was shaken by the Spring Uprisings: A massive revolutionary wave of both violent and non-violent demonstrations, protests, riots, coups and civil wars which spread its way through authoritarian and totalitarian countries like a wildfire, campaigning against sectarianism, inflation, kleptocracy, human rights violations, unemployment and authoritarianism. Many of these countries soon buckled under the weight, fell to their knee's, and descended into chaos as Western neoliberal agenda succeeded in achieving its geopolitical goals, but a select few nations were able to hold out amidst the chaos, one of these nations was the Basran Socialist Republic. As the world was plunged into chaos, Basran continued to hold out as the socialist regime of President Rashaad al-Syed resorted to using the military and police to harshly suppress protesters into submission, as well as its secret intelligence agency to make sure ringleaders "went quiet." It seemed as if peace would hold as the protesters were finally defeated in mid 2010 and temporary stability returned to the country.

However a year of resistance, Basran finally began to crack in early 2011 when violent protests grew in numbers far surpassing anything the government could prepare for and in the space of a month, violent mobs de-facto took over parts of the country, ejecting local authorities and placing the areas under their control. Many prisoners were freed from military prisons that had been seized and weapons were captured from looted garrisons near these prisons. The protests sprang up due to the Nationalist Party of Basran (NPB) winning presidential elections by a slim margin, but President Rashaad al-Syed refused to stand down, and instead used the military, police and secret intelligence to try and mop up resistance however they were soon overwhelmed in some regions of the country by the amount of popular support against them and were forced to cease operations in those areas, allowing dissidence to grow.

The black market exploded in Basran as a result of this, creating a massive influx of weapons into the hands of the mobs, and soon enough, the Basrani Civil War began on the 29th of July, 2011, when defectors from the People's National Army (PNA) defected to the violent mobs and formed the Front for the National Restoration of Basran (FNRB), a nationalist guerrilla faction, which allowed the FNRB to gain large swathes of conventional military materiel such as tanks, armoured vehicles, combat helicopters, light attack aircraft and gunboats. With this boost of manpower and military materiel, the FNRB launched large scale attacks against PNA positions all across the country, capturing large amounts of territory. Taken by surprise and despite their best efforts to put up heavy resistance, by late 2012 the FNRB had captured most of Central Basran and Eastern Basran, isolating the PNA in Western Basran and forcing the remaining PNA forces in to put up their last stand in the Khoydah Desert as the FNRB drove towards the capital of Basran, Khoydah. Many thought that at this point, the days of the socialist regime were surely numbered. In the Khoydah Desert however, the FNRB faced much heavier resistance as the PNA organized themselves effectively and every advance they made resulted in heavy casualties and equipment losses, but the damage inflicted on them was inflicted in double the force on the PNA and the FNRB captured the Khoydah Mountains in late 2013, and had Jarrasrakh and Habanah encircled, the last strongholds required to fall to the FNRB before they could advance. Habanah fell, but Jarrasrakh did not.

After this, the PNA thought fiercely and despite taking heavy casualties, only lost 1 kilometer of ground to the FNRB within the space of a month on all fronts. In the mean time, the PNA in Western Besran began to prepare for a large defensive war, fortifying the islands coasts and constructing rigid defensive networks in the mountains and cities. Fearing going from one authoritarian government to another, in 2013 a faction within the FNRB broke off and declared themselves the Basrani Democratic Forces, vowing to return Basran to a full democracy and began attacking FNRB forces in Eastern Basran. Due to the sudden assault from within, the FNRB offensive in Central Basran slowly collapsed and PNA forces were able to slowly push the FNRB back, breaking out of the encirclement and slowly pushed the FNRB back across the mountains and retook Habanah in a surprise offensive, before ceasing offensive operations due to manpower and equipment losses, whilst the BDF overwhelmed FNRB forces in Eastern Basran and a year of slow and heavy fighting, the FNRB conducted a mass withdrawal of its units from Eastern Basran to Central Basran. The war began to stalemate throughout 2014, with neither sides able to make any big pushes against the others, and instead were forced to adapt battalion sized assaults and hit-and-run raids in order to try and gradually push the front lines and by 2015, there were only 123 instances of clashes along the front lines, less than 1 engagement every 2 days and in 2016, the FNRB, PNA and BDF signed a universal ceasefire, supposedly ending the war in a stalemate. Despite some minor clashes continuing, there were no major engagements along the front lines.

For a year, each side was able to build up their military forces, with the NPA increasing its number of infantrymen drastically, and deploying coastal missiles capable of striking targets deep within FNRB territory. The NPA also continued build up its defensive positions in the mountains and along the coast, preparing for the eventual invasion. The FNRB declared the formation of the Basran Democratic Republic within its territory, and laid claim to the entirety of Basran, sparking fresh new disputes along the front lines. FNRB forces had built up their stockpile of tanks, armoured vehicles, aviation and artillery and had transformed into a part-insurgent part-conventional fighting force. The BDF used the stockpiles it had captured from when the FNRB had retreated to build up its militia forces with some modern weaponry such as ATGM's, MANPAD's and post-Soviet era rocket systems and mortars. By early 2017, a new proxy war erupted in Basran. Islamists supportive of the FNRB known as Jahbat al-Islam sprung up, as well as a Basrani offshoot off Hezbollah, and managed to infiltrate areas held by the NPA and BDF, seizing them in an attempt to give the FNRB the advantage. The BDF responded by funding Jewish and Christian militias within the FNRB territory, which now threaten to cut off several major roads as they continue to gradually advance.

With all sides ready to refresh the conflict... escalation ensued.

Front for the National Restoration of Basran/Basran Democratic Republic

East of Khaqban, Central Basran
Basran Democratic Republic

"FIRE! ALLAHU AKBAR!"

On the command, twelve 2A36 Giatsint-B 152 mm field guns opened up against their designated targets with a deafening bang. It was only early in the morning, and any civilians in the immediate area would be shaken awake by the thunder of guns. Capable of firing 6 rounds per minute, equivalent to one round every 10 second, a barrage of artillery fire ensues as the guns were reloaded and fired again and again. The crews were jovial as they brought death to their enemies, as not even god himself could survive such an intense barrage of guns. Their targets were mostly infrastructural, such as buildings, and garrisons set up by the National Peoples Army, which meant they would be annihilated by just one round, with the goal of significantly weakening the positions of the NPA before the FNRB troops could advance on Habanah once again. NPA defences in Habanah were fierce and the city was a strategic requirement before the FNRB could think about trying to advance on the capital city, and this time they refused a repeat of last time, in which the NPA were able to break out and push them onto the mountains. Six 2A65 Msta-B 152 mm howitzers and three 2S7 Pion 210 mm self propelled guns joined in on the bombardment as it intensified, firing in unison as they sent shells hurtling into the sky before they would dive down and slam into their unsuspecting targets, destroying them and weakening the NPA defensive positions in the city.

The barrage continued for hours before the command was finally given to cease fire and take a break as the ground assault was prepared. A total of 70,000 troops had been gathered in the desert outposts near Khaqban in preparation for the new offensive, including 300 BMP-2M's, 120 T-64BV's and 37 T-72B2's - a large armoured force was required due to intelligence showing the NPA having their own armoured force held up in and around the city. The battle for Habanah would be bloody and it would involve a decent chunk of the force attempting to seize control over the mountains overlooking the city, which were known to be fortresses of the NPA defensive lines, and would also involve house to house fighting in an attempt to clear out the city, but nether the less, morale was at an all time high. As part of the offensive, 10,000 of the troops taking part were from the professional section of the FNRB and would spearhead the assault, as they had superior training, battlefield experience and weaponry, and would form a key part of the offensive. If Habanah fell in the hands of the FNRB, they would have a clear shot on taking Khoydah once the mountains and roads leading up to the city were secured, and with that, the last NPA pocket in Central Basran would be crushed and the FNRB would be able to link up with their allies to the east. And so as the order was given, the faithful soldiers of the FNRB began their advance towards the front lines of the NPA. With this... escalation had just begun.

Kyzylorda Airport
Arab Republic of Bahtar

Located in the desert plains of Bahtar, Kyzylorda Airport was bustling with activity. The base was chosen due to its strategic location, close to Basran in the Arabian Sea. For a week or two, a squadron of twelve F-15SE Silent Eagle multirole aircraft, as well as a Mechanized Infantry Battalion, had been stationed at the base as part of the Laeutchian Federations attempt to bring stability back to Basran and aid the Basran Democratic Republic against its enemies, although they had originally been there since the North Colishi conflict. The F-15SE's had been armed to the teeth with two AGM-88E AARGM missiles and two AGM-65E2 missiles as well as AIM-9X missiles for any potential air combat and one Joint Direct Attack Munition under its fuselage. The planes had been regularly maintained and fuelled, thus they only needed minimal rearming and refuelling. All twelve aircraft waited in their positions until they were given the go-ahead by high command, and at that moment they taxied along the taxiway and one by one, eventually turned onto the long runway of Kyzylorda Airport. The mission was to initiate a first strike against the Basran Democratic Forces and National Peoples Army clear a safe-zone for OSAN forces to advance into the country, which would mostly be compromised of Laeutchian troops - and to also limit the BDF's and NPA's capability to respond to such strike, or any future strikes. The elegant and slick aircraft activated their afterburners and ascended into the sky, flying south west whilst some others flied south east, to begin their mission.

Skies over Al Nazah

"Base command to Dagger lead, return to the rest of your squadron and finish the ground strike, over."

"All munitions deployed, not seeing much movement on the ground."

"All callsigns, form up on me, we're going home."

Skies over Khabid
BDR Territory, Basran

"Holy shit, the AA fire is intense lead."

"Those sand bastards dont know what they're doing Viper 3-1, they cant hit us with bullets at this altitude, they are free kills to us from up here."

"How long until fire mission begins?"

"30 seconds."

"Let's give em hell boys."

"Lot's of helicopters on the ground, nice, easy kills."

"All in rows too... this is easy... too easy."

"Less chit chat, lets get this over and done with."

"Agreed lead."

"Viper lead to all callsigns, you are free to engage!"

"Bombs away, missiles away!"

"Fox one! Fox two!"

"Going in low for a strafe run."

"That entire column of aircraft just went up in flames, looked like Hip's or some shit to me."

"Holy shit 4-1 abort that run, AA fire is intense!"

"Acknowledged, pulling out."

"Got a JDAM falling on that main AA battery now."

"Boom."

"Hitting the main terminal of the airport now."

"Troops with MANPAD's in the hotel south of the airport, engaging now."

"Holy shit, did Viper lead just hit the railway and road bridge over the river?"

"Affirmative 2-1, I did, not part of our mission directive, but its an essential target. Cuts off their only rapid re-enforcement supply to the airport."

"All callsigns, break and form up on my six, return to base."

Kyzylorda Airport
Arab Republic of Bahtar

One by one, the twelve F-15SE's landed back at the airbase and returned to their allocated positions. Ground crews rushed to the aircraft in order to perform repairs, refuelling and rearming. A medical team was dispatched to treat the pilot of Dagger 2-2, she had been hit in the leg by stray Anti Aircraft fire during their attack on the NPA positions in Western Basran. Meanwhile, Viper flight was virtually unaffected. Dagger flight had scored a total of 24 aircraft kills (17 of which were on the ground), 184 ground kills and estimated about 300 to 500 wounded combatants as a result of their airstrikes against the NPA. Viper flight had destroyed 4 Main Battle Tanks, 7 Armoured Personnel Carriers, 12 Infantry Fighting Vehicles, 18 helicopters on the ground and roughly 20 Infantry Mobility Vehicles, the perfect ambush, which resulted in roughly 249 ground kills and estimated 500 to 600 wounded against the BDF. Collectively between the two flight, four whole battalions and an entire aviation squadron had been immobilized.

A perfect first strike.

Press Conference Room
Federal Government Building
Averia, Laeutchian Federation

The Press Secretary of the President of the Laeutchian Federation, a rather short, blue haired, blond eyed woman took to the podium and ushered for silence before reading out a pre-written statement handed to her by the President herself - she simply did not have time to give a speech for himself, as he was busy making 'loose ends meet' behind closed doors. She already knew what he meant exactly, the President was probably coordinating all Laeutchian military actions personally alongside her top commanders from the Department of Defence.

The statement read:
"Four hours ago, I can confirm that elements of the Laeutchian Air Defence Force embarked on a mission to engage and destroy hostile elements within Basran. The civil war is intense at the moment and the Laeutchian Federation is intervening to defend the interests of OSAN and its allies. We can confirm that more such strikes will continue until all parties in the conflict agree to a permenant ceasefire under the guidance of the Basran Demoratic Republic and we will begin intensified dialogue and cooperation with our Basrani counterparts to achieve such measures. As we speak, a combined force of the Lautchian Maritime Defence Force, Laeutchian Air Force and Laeutchian Army are preparing to enter territory of the Basran Democratic Republic to assist our allies with combat support, training, armaments and advisory actions. We want to make it very clear that we will initiate combined self defence measures if Laeutchian or Laeutchian-partnered forces are threatened by any faction or their supporters. That is all."

Southern Islands
Arab Republic of Bahtar

A small fleet of various civilian ships has docked in the local harbour and people begun to unload equipment. Old fishing was quickly full of "soldiers" wearing an interesting mix of camo patterns. Their uniforms were probably purchased from some army shop and some of them were equipped with purely hunting bolt-action rifles. Their faces were full of relief as they were able to sneak through hostile fleets patrolling the sea. After few minutes, soldiers proceeded to move further into the inland and each Legion has built their own camp. Meanwhile, the commander of Legions, Chayim Kopecky, was invited by the local JSDU leader to visit him in his command tent.

When Kopecky entered the tent, he immediately saluted, after all, he is a former member of the Radimostanian army. But the JSDU local leader, sitting behind his desk, just waved his hand and then he pointed at the chair in front of him. "Mr Kopecky, I guess. I have prayed for your safe arrival, in our current situation we need as much freedom-fighters as possible." said the JSDU leader in English. "Yes, I hope that my men will be beneficial to our goal. But, can I ask you what is your name?" Said the commander Kopecky as he sat in the chair. "Oh, I am sorry for my bad manners. My name is Amit Zingel and as you can see I am in charge of this island." answered the JDSU leader and then he pulled a map from the drawer a put it on the desk. "Situation could be better, but we still hold. Right now our operations were mainly defensive, but with your men and ships, we could proceed to attack."

Near the Jaradan Island
Midnight

One JSDU gunboat is approaching the island from the south and on board are elements from the 1st Legion, the most "elite" Jewish Legion of Radimostan. Many of the Legion members were former soldiers of the Radimostanian military and some of them were deployed during the Radimostanian intervention in Uzbekistan. Their objective is to scout the area, most importantly to determine the strength of the local FNRB garrison. To achieve their objective, they are equipped with silenced weapons and night vision. In case they will be detected, they will try to retreat while the gunboat will provide them with a fire support.

Hezbollah Brigades/Kata'ib Hezbollah/Brigades of the Party of God

Unknown Location
Somewhere in Basran

The camera flicked on and a masked man, flanked by armed guards on each side began to speak:

"To Basran we say, long live Basran Al Qadir! We think Basran Al Qadir! Basran Hamad Al Qadir! Basran Riyal Al Qadir! To the Basran that is proud and steadfast! To the Basrani Arab Army that is resistant! To Basran we say, you are in our souls, our hearts, our minds. In the present, past, and future. If the battle with these Takfiri terrorists required that myself and all of Hezbollah enter Basran, then we we shall go to Basran! If we have 100 fighters inside of Basran, they will become 200! If we have 1,000 fighters inside of Basran, they will become 2,000! If we have 5,000 fighters inside of Basran, they will become 10,000! If we are forced to enter this battle with full force then I am telling all Basrani's, all Bahtari's, and the entire worldthat we will win in our battle against the destructive Takfiri terrorists! We will eradicate the Zionist plague from our lands and we wage eternal jihad against the nations that support the plague! Inshallah! Allahu Akbar!"

The live feed cut out and soon the video was being spread all around the world.

Jaradan Island
Afternoon
Image
A small team of five camouflaged recons was hiding in the bushes. For entire day they were keeping eye on local Nationalist forces, most importantly on the local airbase. The JSDU did not own any aircraft at all and hostile air strikes were a huge threat to Jewish forces, thus possible destruction or even at least minor damage to this air base would be a great leap towards the goal of the JSDU. Recon Team was sure that they explored every aspect of the base, thus team leader Cermak decided to contact the Legions HQ. "Vančura!" he said to a radioman "Contact the HQ, immediately." The radioman has tuned the radio and handed the handset to Cermak. "HQ, this is the Tasmanian devil, do you hear me?" Radio was silent, Cermak was afraid that Nationalists are jamming the communication. But then suddenly "This is HQ, we had some technical problems, do you hear me, Tasmanian Devil?" Cermak sighed. "Yes we hear you HQ, we report that the island is garrisoned by at least two battalions. Also, it seems that there are circa three fast attack crafts." said the Cermak to the radio.
"Roger that, What about the air base?"
"It seems that there are mostly helicopters, but we could not get close enough to determine the quantity."
"Ok then. Are you able to stay on the island few more nights?"
"Yes, we have found some spots where we can hide."

Midnight
Image
Five ships have approached the island from the south, they were able to sneak through the Nationalist patrols and now are taking the positions in order to be in range to attack the air base. Two fast attack crafts took defensive positions, while three gunboats prepared to unleash their rockets. After few minutes of manoeuvring were all ships on position and gunboat crews were calculating the trajectory of missiles. "Fire!" The silence of picturesque island was suddenly overdone by series of explosions as rockets hit the ground. A decent number of them hit the base and damaged the buildings and runway but only a few of them were lucky enough to destroy some aircraft. Immediately after the attack, all ships began to retreat and on their route home were able to lightly damage one enemy vessel that tried to chase them.

Furby City, Furby Island
House of Parliament

7/19/2017, morning

More news has come about the situation on Basran. As the situation is escalating, more and more people want to get Furby Island involved. Just before the Parliament meeting began, Deputy Prime Minister Oh-Bah began reading through possible discussion topics. He then overheard 2 MP's talking about the situation in Basran. He realized that it wasn't on the list, and it needed to be addressed immediately. He quickly added it to the list and dragged it to the top, something which he probably will get fired for, but he hoped the PM didn't mind.

Parliament gathered in the room and were ready to begin. The list was pulled up before Parliament. The PM did not care that the Basrani Civil War somehow appeared on the top of the list.

Prime Minister Big-Noo: We shall begin with our first topic, which is the current situation in Basran.

Conservative MP(1): Basran is a country that overthrew its government and is now facing a bloody civil war. We must intervene.

Conservative MP(2): There are 3 sides. They are the PNA, which is the old government, and the FNRB, which want a new government. There's also the BDR, which broke off from the FNRB thinking that they want an authoritarian regime. The BDR want a democracy. Also we can remain neutral or go with the imperialist approach and invading them.

Deputy Prime Minister Oh-Bah: Please tell me you're kidding on the last one.

Conservative MP(2): I am.

Liberal MP: Also there are other foreign nations intervening. Some nations are supporting the BDR , and OSAN is supporting FNRB.

Libertarian MP: Well I guess this is going to be another proxy-war.

Big-Noo: Hold on. The DEUN has stated what we should do. This has been written, in the following paper. *the paper was shown to Parliament* This will be a diplomatic only mission. Also, the last page is classified, and is should've been handed over to you.

*after 2 hours of debates*

Prime Minister Big-Noo: Yes, it is time to vote. To be clear, you're voting on the whole thing, including the classified last page.

*everyone votes on the document*

Prime Minister Big-Noo: Well it is passed. All plans will be forwarded to the military.

Democratic Socialist: I believe we must condemn Laeutchia for their actions. They are attacking BDF targets only because they want to protect some corporate interests, and they completely do not care about the fact that they will cause many people to suffer. To them, money is worth more than a human life. In reality, it is the other way around.

Capitalist MP: I can't believe I'm saying this but I agree with that statement. But how should we possibly punish them?

[REDACTED], Furby Island
FIMCC

7/19/2017, noon

General Boo-Loo: We have been ordered to send troops to Djibouti, which will be deployed in Basran if the negotiations fail.

General Boo-Kye: How many troops will be sent there to be exact?

General Boo-Loo: A division. Either paratroopers or marines will be sent.

Admiral Loo-Lye: Send marines. This is a group of islands, and landing by beach will be more easier than sending paratroopers.

General Tay-Koo: I am sending the 10th marines division, which is under that command of Major General Doh-Tee.

General Boo-Loo: It's probably best if some ships and planes get sent there too. Ah-Nee, send a wing to Djibouti. Loo-Lye, I want 5 amphibious assault ships and 1 mine warfare ship from Indian Fleet Alpha over there.

General Ah-Nee and Admiral Loo-Lye: Yessir

General Boo-Loo: Major General Doh-Tee will be in charge of operations in Basran. All of you are dismissed.

2nd Naval Assault Group
LFS Mount Royal, Iroquois Class Destroyer
Off the Coast of Al Jayna

"Is everything ready, Combrig?"

"Aye, Comrade Secretary." In a dimly lit room, men and women bustled about looking at maps and charts, outlining the southern coast of Basran. "The Brigade is ready to deploy within the hour, and once we've secured airfields in Al Jayne, we'll be able to support the advance on Habanah." A man in his mid thirties spoke into a screen in the far corner of the room, his blonde hair and beard neatly trimmed, and the Lamerikan Citizen Army cap squarely on his head.

"Excellent, Combrig. Link up with FNRB forces as soon as you can... I'll expect to hear from you soon." The man on the screen replied coolly, before switching it off on his end, leaving the Brigade Commander, or Combrig alone with his thoughts for a few seconds. His name was Thomas Falco, and he was a Veteran of wars like this one. Rising from where he had been seated, he marched across the room, straightening his uniform, "Get the troops ready to land. I want choppers scouting Al Jayna, and make sure FNRB forces in Khaqban know we're coming. Let's get this done."

15 Minutes Later

As troops loaded onto landing craft, 2 Hind Attack Choppers and 5 Mi-17s raced over the waters and towards Al Jayna, a coastal City just south of Habanah. The five squads on board would be tasked with securing a Landing Zone for troops landing in Basran. As they aproached the Coastline, radio operators on with the Naval Task Force attempted to make contact with Rebels near Khaqban, with the hope of coordinating an attack on Habanah.

The Helicopters made it to the shore, the Mi-17s touching down on the beach and deploying their squads of five men each, while the Hind Attack Choppers fanned out over the surrounding area, scanning for any potential threats.

OFF THE COAST OF YATAT

Officer Tyrion anxiously peered over the rails at the Basrani coastline as the fleet of 10 Amphibious Assault Ships edged closer to its shores. The entire situation, at least for the Vymarian government, was a mess. The reasoning towards this intervention was to remove the religious extremists who plagued the Basrani borders. However, with their Furbish allies on the other side of the war, and the FNRA's and BDF's failure to cooperate with Vymarian attempts to intervene, it made the entire situation that much worse. As it would force Vymar to help the NPA, if they were to intervene. Now, the intervention seemed to be desperate to avoid firing upon Furbish allies, which mind you, were being supported in their own conflict, by the Vymarians.

The mist hit Tyrion's face, almost snapping him out of his train of thought. He looked at his watch, then back at the shore. He decided now was probably the time to get everyone out of their beds and into their assigned positions, so when they hit the beach, they would be able to at least look professional. He walked back up to the command center and let out the alarm siren, signaling the crew and other ships to begin getting ready to hit the beaches. Now, all they had to look forward to was where the NPA wanted them.

Hello,
There has been a change of plans. We will no longer get directly involved in Basran. The reasons do not matter. We need to reduce direct involvement as much as possible while still helping the BDF.

I have a few questions:
What the hell has happened?
Why will we not get directly involved?
How will we get indirectly involved?
Are you sure the BDF can win without us sending troops?
And why are OSAN supporting the FNRB even though they say the support freedom and democracy?

What caused this to happen was a combination of threats from OSAN and a few things with the DEUN. Getting directly involved puts Furbish soldiers at risk, and we'd all agree that losing several hundred million dollars worth of equipment is better than losing Furbish troops. You know the answer the the next 2 questions. And I do not know the answer to your last question. No one does. Also how much did you just drink?

Boo-Kye: So looks like new plans have to be made.

Boo-Loo: Huh? Why are we here?

Ah-Nee: So tell me again how did this guy become the leader of the Furbish military?

Boo-Kye: He probably got promoted before he knew Irish pubs existed.

*everyone in the room except Boo-Loo laugh*

Boo-Loo: Guys can we nuke Basran now?

Tay-Koo: How about we sent another amphibious assault ship, with helicopters and special forces.

Loo-Lye: No. We need an FS-D15 class guided missile destroyer. One that can fight off missiles.

Boo-Kye: And what about the "military exercise"?

Boo-Loo: Although it does seem a little suspicious, it would be even more suspicious if we suddenly end it. Let it go on.

Boo-Kye: Now the most important part is figuring out an evacuation route for the troops. We have agreed on how to airdrop supplies, send special forces, and maybe do drone strikes. But if something goes wrong, we need to evacuate the troops.

Tay-Koo: They have helicopters, correct?

Ah-Nee: Yes. But we need a way to safely send them to Furby Island if needed. Or to a base on Afghanistan or Djibouti.

Loo-Lye: This is why we are sending a ship. Or maybe several. We need a mine warfare craft to protect against sea mines, a guided missile destroyer to protect against missiles, and ships to carry helicopters. No need for amphibious assault ships since we're not doing a large scale landing operation.

Djibouti
Djibouti Naval and Aerial Base

Special forces have arrived to the base. A total of 15 platoons are at the base, and 6 will immediately be sent to Basran to help BDF, CRA, and JSDU forces. The rest of the platoons will stay at the base and be deployed if needed. Furby Island will indirectly help the BDF, by sending supplies, and by training guerillas. Furby Island's goal is to wreak havoc in the FNRB, and eventually PNA forces, causing them to lose morale and either stop fighting or by defeated by highly trained and well equipped BDF fighters. The BDF will also be supported by Furbish drone strikes.

A small amount of Furbish ships were also at the base. Some will be near Basran to patrol the area. The ships are:
  • FIS Sparrow, a FS-MC7 class mine countermeasures ship, and the third newest ship of its type in the Furbish fleet
  • FIS Estonia, a FS-HC9 class helicopter carrier, which will carry the helicopters that will transport the troops to Basran
  • FIS Belgium, another FS-HC9 class helicopter carrier
  • FIS Slovakia, another FS-HC9 class helicopter carrier
  • FIS Zebra, a FS-MD8 class missile guided destroyer, which can protect against missiles and submarines

The ships will travel south of the Arabian Sea, and for south of Basran. When they reach about the longitude of India, they will turn north and go straight to Basran. They will stay in the southeastern corner in case they need to evacuate.

If extra troops are needed, they will be flown by helicopter to the fleet. In the middle of the flight, the helicopter will get refueled. The helicopter will be refueled again when it reaches the fleet, and from there it lands in the desired location in Basran.

If troops need to evacuate from a certain location, they will get on the helicopter that they used to get to Basran and it will fly back to the fleet. If the troops will be deployed somewhere else, they will stay a little while in the ship. Otherwise, they will fly back to Djibouti and get refueled midway in the flight. They will stay in the base in case there is an emergency and they are needed.

If all of the Furbish forces need to be evacuated, all helicopters will fly back to the fleet. The fleet will not leave until every helicopter lands on the ships, or is missing. The ships will then go straight to Furby Island. All troops in Djibouti will be flown back to Furby Island.

The troops prepared to go to Basran. They were given some time to get used to the climate. The next day, the fleet and 6 platoons will depart.

From: The Empire of Rhinocera

Mr. President, the Empire of Rhinocera recognizes that your nation is currently embroiled in a great internal struggle. We have taken note of a handful of illegitimate factions, including the Front for the National Restoration of Basran and the Basrani Democratic Forces, that have caused your proud nation to fragment into pieces. Rhinocera recognizes the Peoples National Army as the true enforcers of your nation's rightful government, and wishes to see the nation's rightful government, which is your own, back in power over a unified Basran Socialist Republic. How we work together to accomplish this goal, however, is the question of the hour. The Empire of Rhinocera is currently prepared to offer support to the People's National Army through the provision of armaments.

The Empire of Rhinocera maintains a sizeable reserve stockpile of weaponry, vehicles, and munitions that have either been phased out of service by the Rhinoceran Imperial Military due to age, obsolescence, and/or simply being unneeded by our own forces. Our intelligence reports suggest that your nation primarily utilizes Soviet style arms, so we wish to offer our support through the provision of Soviet style arms. If you accept our assistance, stockpiles of modernized T-64 tanks, AM-99 assault rifles, Mi-24V Hinds, and other weapons/vehicles will be made available for but a fraction of the standard cost. The charge being a simply a means to deny direct Rhinoceran involvement, allowing us to chalk it up to a simple arms sale through our state owned arms manufacturer, Red Star Heavy Industries. Even naval vessels may be made available at a later date, though we are not committed to their provision at the moment. And, if the need were to arise, perhaps Rhinocera would be amenable to providing direct intervention on your behalf, though we have no plan to do so, nor do we have the intent, as of now.

Obviously, however, our assistance comes with requirements. First and foremost, if we are to cooperate to ensure the restoration of a unified Basran under your own authority, we must reach an understanding. Rhinocera would require that we be allowed to construct a sizeable military base on one of your islands, capable of housing naval, aerial, and land assets. We would be willing to "lease" the land from you, but it would have to be understood that Rhinoceran control of the base would be indefinite and likely permanent. We also would require that Basran provide Rhinocera with the initial opportunity to purchase valuable resources that Basran is looking to trade/sell off in the future. Obviously, these requests need not be met until Basran once again is a unified nation under PNA control.

President Rashaad al-Syed, the Empire of Rhinocera awaits your response. Let us work together in efforts to restore Basran to what it is meant to be. A nation with one government, your government.

Obock Military Supporting Facility
Republic of Djibouti
Horn of Africa

Djibouti. To the public, just another poor African nation. To the Imperial Shaochunese Navy, a vital, strategic location for power projection in the Indian Ocean. The Obock Military Supporting Facility, or 'OMSF', is a moderately sized naval base near the town of Obock, Djibouti, owned and built by the Celestial Empire of Shaochun and staffed by around a thousand troops. This was where the Celestial Empire would attempt to support the FNRB and their allies.

The Celestial Empire was a member of OSAN. Not just a regular member, but a member of the OSAN Security Council. In such a high position, Shaochun would not let the rest of the alliance down. Like the rest, they would be intervening and support the FNRB.

Unlike other intervening OSAN members, Shaochun would not be taking as much of a 'hands on' approach. Instead, the small, elite special forces team would be deployed into Basran, training FNRB, Hezbollah and Jahbat al-Islam against the Basrani government. Shaochun itself was at war with Islamist militants in Xinjang, but that would not stop it assisting them in Basran to achieve their goals. After all, the Islamists were simply allies of pure coincidence.

The otherwise quiet naval/air base was shaken to life today when a massive An-225 'Mirya' began to circle the Obock Military Supporting Facility before landing one by one. The massive transport aircraft were only transporting 80 men, but the four ZBD-09 'Snow Leopard' Armored Personel Carriers and eight YJ2080 Sentinels took up a rather large amount of space.

As the An-225 landed and taxied off the runway, the doors opened and the 80-special forces operatives disembarked while the rest of the vehicles and equipment were being unloaded. Captain Xiang, commander of the Special Forces Unit 'Lions of Nanyang' boarded a Dongfeng EQ2050 and drove towards the main hangars where Zhang Zhumin, wing commander of the detachment from the base's 942nd Transport Squadron was waiting.

As the Captain arrived in the hanger, he saw the five helicopters, four Harbin Z-20s and a CAIC Z-10 attack helicopter waiting.

"Ah, Captain Xiang. It is a pleasure to be serving with you," said Zhumin as he observed his pilots. "Over here we have five helicopters as you can see. These will be used for light air support and to get your men into Basran. Here in Djibouti, we're waiting for the transfer of two squadrons of Shenyang J-31s and a squadron of Xian H-6K bombers. They will be used to support your men and provide extensive air support and bombing campaigns." Zhimin added.

The captain nodded. "Very well then. I want my men deployed within the next few days after receiving orders from High Command to sort things out with OSAN. Until then, keep your helicopters ready for deployment at any moment."

"Very well then." replied Zhimin as the two began planning the first insertion into Basran.

Djibouti
Djibouti Naval and Aerial Base

7/25/2017, morning

Due to a few factors, the special force left the base a day late than expected. The 5 ships left the harbor and moved to Basran. The ships will arrive to Basran in a few days, and the helicopters will be fly to the locations of the BDF, CRA, and JSDU.

The PM has told the Furbish position in Basran in a press conference.
Furby Island's position in the Basrani Civil War is the same as the US's position in the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. Furby Island will be funding BDF forces so they can fight against the invading OSAN and FNRB troops. Now this will be expensive. But Furby Island is not in this to get money. We won't gain much, if anything at all from this, nor are we trying to. We are trying to ensure freedom and democracy, throughout the world, and we will sacrifice a lot for these goals and ask nothing in return. We will send economic support. Also, there will be ships that will patrol the area. No Furbish forces will directly attack anybody. If they do get attacked, we will retaliate.

WESTERN SLAVIC KINGDOM

Overview: 1. Units landing in Al-Mahafar.
2. Fortification of the island.
3. Patrols on the only small portion of land held by the CRA on mainland Basran.

Al-Mahafar, one of the northern- and western-most islands in the country of Basran, was part of the territory controlled by the CRA, the Christian Resistance Army, which was just one among the incredibly high number of factions fighting in the Basrani Civil War.
The island was named after the main city it hosted, whose name was, in fact, Al-Mahafar, and was a fairly modern city with generally good infrastructure, good services, and eventually even a nice skyline (at least, by Middle Eastern Standards); but what actually mattered was that Al-Mahafar, among all of these services and infrastructure etcetera, had an airport.

The Al-Mahafar Airport, with its medium dimensions and kind of desolated sight, really was nothing incredible. But it was something incredibly useful to the Western Slavic Royal Army: after all, it was one brigade and two regiments that were being sent to Basran to help the CRA, and, with all that amount of men and equipment, an airport was needed, in order to properly carry out risk-less landing operations from the An-124's that the Military employed as its only transport aircraft.
The airport, now, was bustling with activity: there were around five An-124's on the ground, carrying the last cargo of men and equipment to the airport.

Those men were just the last to arrive to Al-Mahafar, as other had arrived hours, days, or even weeks before. They would have soon joined their fellow servicemen in building fortifications along the coast line, under the shield provided by the anti-air defences of the CRA and, more importantly, by the Army's own air-defence systems. However, not all of the men that had arrived over those weeks and days to Al-Mahafar were working to fortify the island: the 2nd Independent Tank Regiment "Vlajka", in fact, had already landed on the mainland to carry out "reconoissaince operations", supported by the 1st Separate Assault Helicopter Squadron and the 1st Separate Fighter Squadron of the 1st Basrani Air Task Force.

Here will come description of a skirmish, give me a day or two

International Waters
1,900km away from five Furbish ships

"Targets are in sight, sir." said the weapons officer. Colonel Shao Yang nodded as he sat in the co-pilot seat of the Xian H-6K. Colonel Yang,
crown prince of the Shaochunese Royal Family, led the three squadrons. After refueling at Djibouti, forty Shenyang J-31 fighters along with fifteen Xian H-6K bombers headed straight towards Basran, accompanied by five Xian HY-6DU which helped refuel the fighters. Their target was not Basran, but instead five Furbish ships en-route to Basran. Due to reach Basran in a few days, the five ships was easy target for the Shaochunese air armada.

With only one missile guided destroyer, the battle would hardly be fair. The Furbish forces said they would 'retaliate' if Furbish troops were attacked in Basran.
OSAN's job in Basran would be much easier if five Furbish ships were at the bottom of the ocean, which was what they were going to do. The fifty-five aircraft were still 1,900km away from the Furbish ships, an extremely far distance. With the YJ-12 antiship missiles, striking the Furbish would be much easier.

The YJ-12 missiles were deadly, and the chances of the Furbish even stopping them was low. Once the wave of sea-skimming missiles appeared over the horizon and was detected by the Furbish guided missile destroyer, they would only have some 45 seconds to engage before impact. The 15 bombers carried six YJ-12 missiles each,
meaning they carried around 90 supersonic missiles.

With this massive hurl of missiles, the Furbish had barely any chance. This was only the bombers however. The J-31s had eight supersonic air-to-ground missiles, eight 500 kg deep-penetration bombs and thirty smaller bombs. The majority of the antiship missiles would be aimed at the Furbish guided missile destroyer, the FIS Zebra and the second-priority target would be the FIS Estonia. The other planes and the remaining missiles would wreck havoc on the rest of the fleet.

As the planes got closer at 400km, Colonel Yang gave the order. "Bombers, fire at will at targets. Fighters, stay in formation until impact, over." Ordered the Colonel over the radio. "May the Emperor live a thousand years!" Shouted the pilots in unison. The 90 YJ-12 supersonic anti-ship missiles were fired from the bombers,
heading straight for the Furbish ships! At Mach 3.5, the Furbish ships would be lucky to even see them coming.

Furbish fleet, near Basran
FIS Estonia

All 6 helicopters took off from the ship. Two of them will fly to CRA controlled territory around Al-Mahajar, one will fly in JSDU territory near Jaradan, and the other three will fly to BDF territory.

The helicopters that were sent to CRA land flew to Basran from the northwest and landed in Al-Mahajar. The helicopter sent to JSDU land flew to Basran from the south and landed in the island near Jaradan that is controlled by the JSDU. The helicopters sent to BDF land flew from the east and landed in Al Olamran, Khabid, and Dhamar.

Meanwhile, the captains and senior officers of all 5 ships decided to have a meeting on the FIS Slovakia, and little did they know what was about to happen...

The officers quickly assessed the damages. The FIS Slovakia was afloat, otherwise they'd be on lifeboats, in the water trying to stay afloat, or dead. But the ships was heavily damaged from several missile strikes. One helicopter carrier remained afloat, while the other was missing. That ship was hit a few times. The FIS Sparrow was still afloat, but also heavily damaged. The FIS Zebra sank. From a distance, there was a large explosion. A flagpole with the Furbish and Estonian flag flew out of the debris. The other officers knew that the other helicopter carrier was the FIS Belgium. Helicopters from the FIS Slovakia and FIS Belgium quickly flew to rescue anyone they found in the ocean.

After that, the ships moved at top speed to Mumbai. There, they will be repaired until they can be used again. The ships sent a signal to the base and to the military command about it. Also, the sinking of the FIS Estonia was a perfect reason to rename the FIS San Regada. That ship was named back when San Regada was in theDEUN, and therefore a Furbish ally. The ship will soon be renamed to FIS Estonia by the navy.

The staff in the Djibouti base were appalled at the actions of Shaochun. They decided to prepare lots of SAM's that will be launched at the planes when they return. The base also jammed Shaochun's communications, which should make it hard for the planes to find the other ships.

In Furby Island, people were very shocked. After all, it was an unprovoked attack on a few patrol vessels. Parliament was forced to pass a bill that put diplomatic and economic sanctions on all OSAN members that supported the FNRB. The following sanctions were put on Shaochun, Laeutchia, and San Regada:
  • A full economic embargo, meaning no trade is allowed between Furby Island and the above mentioned nations, and trade through a third nation also isn't allowed; and all Furbish companies must close their locations in these nations, and all companies from those nations can't operate in Furby Island
  • All diplomatic staff from Furby Island must leave the nations, although they already left immediately after the attacks
  • Embassies from those nations will be blockaded by the FIEG
  • Flags of the nations must always be and half mast and upside down, and flying a flag at half mast and upside down is considered very rude in Furby Island

COAST OF YATAT

Tyrion walked off the assault ship as Armored Division Bravo hit the coatline. 30 IBT-63 tanks, 20 XM-3 tanks and 3,000 troops landed on the beach without a hitch, and were welcomed by the NPA units on the beach. Tyrion walked up to one that looked like an officer.

" Officer Tyrion of the Armored Bravo Division, how may I be of service?"

Near the remnants of the Furbish fleet
Indian Ocean

The three remaining Furbish helicopter carriers were escaping full speed towards Mumbai from where they were attacked, where they were hopefully going to get repaired. Instead of leaving immediately, the J-31 fighters were refueled by the aerial refueling tankers. The tankers and bombers headed back to base, while the 40 Shenyang J-31 fighters sped onwards in hot pursuit of the three Furbish helicopter carriers. While the helicopter carriers had a head start by an hour or so, the fact that they could only go up to a speed of 40km/h while the Shenyang J-31s could go up to 2,300km/h made it rather hard for the Furbish helicopter carriers to get anywhere.

In fact, Furbish helicopters and the small, heavily damaged fleet could be seen just several kilometers away, desperately trying to get to Mumbai.

The Shaochunese High Command would rather that the entire fleet be taken down, and orders like that could not be disobeyed. In a matter of minutes, the refueled jets caught up to the three Furbish ships and once again all hell would break loose.

The 40 J-31s flew in formation and circled around the three damaged ships, before swooping in and firing their armaments at the surviving Furbish ships. With each aircraft carrying eight air-to-ground missiles, the two squadrons had three hundred and twenty smaller supersonic missiles at their disposal.

With the primary targets being the FIS Slovakia and FIS Belgium, the jets dived and fired their barrage of missiles in the direction of the two helicopter carriers. Explosions rocked the seas as twenty J-31s focused on the FIS Slovakia and the rest on the FIS Belgium, totaling to 160 supersonic missiles per ship.

The jets relentlessly launched barrages of missiles on the deck and bridges of the two helicopter carriers, before finally exhausting the missiles.

The J-31s, now out of missiles, flew up into the sky and rejoined formation. It was not over, however.

The jets swooped down again, now dropping one-hundred and sixty 500kg deep penetration bombs per ship, before once again returning to the skies. Once again, they swooped back down, before this time turning their attention on the FIS Sparrow. With thirty small bombs each, totaling to a whopping number of one thousand and three hundred small bombs, the forty J-31s pounded the FIS Sparrow with everything they had before bombing the remaining ships to hopefully finish off the survivors.

For the final time, the J-31s took to the air and flew back to the Djibouti base.

For the final time, the J-31s took to the air and flew back to the Djibouti base.

The fleet was warned about a possible air attack by the Djibouti base. The fleet had several defenses against the planes, including 7 VTOL's, SAM's, and MANPADS's. The ships had radar that can detect planes from 500 km away.

Soon, the radar detected the planes, which will reach the ships in 13 minutes at their current speed. The 7 VTOL's took off immediately. They flew within 100 km from the enemy planes, launched their AAM missiles, and flew back to the helicopter carriers. The enemy planes had no chace of dealing with thise missiles, besides outmaneuvering them, which was almost impossible. The planes landed back in the ships.

The surviving planes soon flew near the fleet. When they reached 10 km from the ships, the ships fired several volleys of SAM's. MANPADS's also fired at the planes.

In Djibouti, the base prepared SAM's. They tracked the enemy bombers flying back to the base. Imterceptors were sent after the bombers. Only a flight(8 planes) was sent, but it was enough to take out several defenseless bombers, which were too far away from the base to get any help from their base.

After everything that happened, the PM said that Furby Island will not attack anyone in Basran, but they will fight anyone else that attacks Furbish forces.
