Land Claims: Daaqii
Type of Government: Parliamentary theodemocracy. Theodemocracy essentially refers to a regular democracy that believes that it derives power from the will of God himself, via two forms: the will of the clergy, and the will of the people. It is believed that in the Holy Kingdom, the divine spirit of God possesses the population in order to let them select the appropriate, Godly, choice. At the same time, God recognizes that individuals are fallible, and thus speaks through the clergy directly. Kigomba thus seeks to govern by expressing both of these avenues of God's will.

The Council of Five Hundred (Kisaya: Ibhunga la mahlanu) is a democratically elected legislature, charged with developing and passing the laws of the land. Members of the Council are known as 'Councilors' (Kisaya: Mlandeli) and are elected on a 5 year basis, with a fifth of the Council being elected every year. Each province of the Holy Kingdom elects 50 Councilors. Thus, in any given year, two out of ten provinces are electing their representatives. Councilors can be cast out of the Council of Five Hundred by a vote of 85%, or a vote of 66% + the Exarch. If a Councilor is cast out, the local governor appoints a special representative until the next election.

The Exarch (Kisaya: Ikhefu) is the Head of Government of the Holy Kingdom, and is elected by the leading bishops of the Didymaic Kwitzambean Church - two from each province. The Exarch is selected from any eligible man or woman, and the requirements for eligibility are very loose. They must be an adult, and not have committed any violent crime, treason, or grand larceny. No religious or ethnic requirements are mandated by the Charter of Kigomba. Traditionally, the bishops have elected a Didymaist as Exarch, but the last two elections have seen Moteyist and Mumin candidates come close to receiving a majority of the vote. Candidates for the vote must record the signatures of at least 1% of the population, with no overlap between supporters, in order to have their candidacy reviewed by the Conclave.

Leader Name(s): Exarch Oluwasegun Afolabi

Short History of your Nation: Ancestral homeland of humanity; place where modern homo sapiens first emerged. Very little happens for most of prehistory. Split and separated tribes, pagan, ancestral worship, and so on. Little development beyond small, minor cities. Initial warlords develop, cities get slightly more relevant around the time of Solarian and Farsi Empires. Sotiranity emerges in Badawiya, and one of the Apostles, St. Didymus, makes his way through Bahia, converting as he goes. He arrives at the far end of the coast, bordering the Banfuran Sea, and settles down on the slopes of a mountain, giving sermons and preaching to the local population. Early converts are noted for their overly pious adherence to St. Didymus, and become 'drunk on God' or Kwitzambe. St. Didymus' teachings spread through several local tribes and most major and minor cities in the territory. Eventually, St. Didymus dies, and is buried in the catacombs on the mountain where he taught for several decades.

After this, the early Sotiran communities of Kigomba maintain contact with the Pope and rest of the Christian world until the rise of Salam (or the spread of the sectarian Mazdaic groups), which made communiques with the rest of the Sotiran world more difficult. Rising tensions internally, as well as the growing threat of schisms within the loosely grouped Sotiran tribes, led to the formation of the first Sotiran League, an attempt by Kwitzambe to unify in the face of pagan and Mazdaic tribes and clans. Sotiran League fought external foes and spread Sotiranity before falling to internal political schisms around 800 CE. From 800-~1100 CE, Kwitzambe tribes faced more alarming reversals of fortune as Mazdaism spread, and continued lack of communication with the outside Sotiran world threatened the faith of the surviving Sotiran communities. With the beginning of the Crusades, Kigomba was 'rediscovered' by the Church (albeit with spotty communications), and became known as the Kingdom of Prester John.

Already, Kigomba had drifted away from mainstream Sotiran thought, and was distinctly heretical to the Church. Despite the efforts of several councils, efforts to reconcile Kigomba with Tibernum failed, and Kigomban religious leaders began deferring to their own hierarchy openly, rather than continuing to pay lip-service to the Sotiran Catholic Church. Increasingly concerned about the warlike nature of Gaullica and other Sotiran Catholic nations, the Didymaic Church began supporting centralized efforts at power under a single monarchy, eliminating the confederal nature of the repeatedly-developed 'Sotiran Leagues'. At around this time, the Didymaic Church suffered an internal schism itself, over the role of the saints and their iconography within the larger structure of the church, as well as the role of the Church in Kwitzambe society. Moteyic Sotiranity believed that Church should take a passive role, only intervening when divinely inspired or forced, while Didymaic leaders believed in active guidance of pagans and believers alike, for their own good. This is, of course, a simplification of larger schisms within their goal.

A series of wars between 1500-1600s over Mazdaism and Atudaites in Kigomba. Gaullica appears in the late 1600s and early 1700s and forces grotesquely unfair treaties on Kigomba, often capturing local chiefs or even the royal family to enforce their power and prominence in the region. Local Gaullican trading posts are set up throughout the Kwitzambe coast. In the 1700s, Gaullican influence continues, until Gaullica finally formally makes Kigomba a protectorate in the 1770s. From 1770-1850, Gaullica expanded influence and power in Bahia, before formally annexing Kigomba as a vassal state in the 1850s. Becoming part of the Gaullican Bahia territory, Kigomba was administered by a series of governor-generals and a well-run, if brutal, colonial administration. Efforts at peaceful resistance develop in the late 1910s, culminating in a civil disobedience movement - Prayers for Peace - in the 1920s. As the Great War developed, Kwitzambe leaders routinely spoke out against supporting Gaullica, and used mass-protests to paralyze Gaullican movements throughout Kigomba. Perhaps a massacre or two as a result. Post-war, Kigomba became a CoN mandate, although Gaullican ex-pats attempt a coup in order to establish an Apartheid through Kigomba.

After the defeat of the coup, Kigomba is given a one year deadline to develop a constitution and a government, or else it remains a CoN mandate for the next while. Drawing on unique influences of Didymaic Sotiranity and common history, Kwitzambe leaders develop the system of governance known as theodemocracy. Despite being a 'Kingdom', Kigomba is a parliamentary republic. The throne remains vacant until the Second Coming, where it is believed that Kigomba shall be the site of the new Jerusalem.

Short Overview of your Nation: Planned cities, heavy involvement by the Church, member of the International due to Bahian exploitation. GDP per capita of around 3.2k, very rural population, little prior investment in infrastructure and education beyond maintaining the legacy systems established by Gaullica. Corruption is prominent, even among church officials, and rising discontent by the population on social issues (Mazdaism) and economic (corruption) have led to scandals that grip the Exarchate. Mostly agricultural exports, perhaps some uranium or other semi-valuable natural resource, but not enough to provide substantial boosts to the economy.

Not sure what else should be covered here.

General Questions:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Criminalized and banned. Not only are same-sex marriages forbidden under law, which defines marriage as being between one man and one woman, but homosexual acts are also banned. People convicted of same-sex relations usually receive several years in jail, with the length of sentence scaling depending on prior warnings, age of people in question, their status in the community, and the judge's mood. Additionally, pro-LGBT groups are banned in the country as well - labeled as 'cultural terrorists' that attempt to undermine the native cultures. Homosexuality in general is viewed as a degenerate cultural 'fashion' exported by the League and other Eucleans.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Officially, the Holy Kingdom is a Sotiran state, and a plurality of citizens follow Didymaic Sotiranity. Additionally, the government is heavily influenced by leaders of the Didymaic Kwitzambean Church, and the Exarchs - the head of government - is elected by Didymaics, and tends to be Didymaic. That being said, relations between Didymaic and Moteyic sects are reasonably well established and cordial, if not friendly. Solarian Sotiranity is a recent introduction to the Holy Kingdom, brought by Gaullican colonists, and is viewed as a heresy by the Didymaics and Moteyics - both of which are, in turn, viewed as heresies by the Solarian Church.

That being said, the Constitution of Kigomba enshrines the right of religious freedom to all Kwitzambeans, and requires that they not be discriminated against within the government, or by any government legislation. De jure is not de facto, however, and the groups of Mumins in the western section of Kigomba are often socially discriminated against, especially when it comes to aid and infrastructure investment. The Mumins in the west tend to also be more conservative economically, and are of a different ethnic group than many Didymaic groupings in the east. For this reason, Sotirans in the government tend to view Mumins as an obstacle - something to be circumvented or removed - in order to progress as a nation. Naturally, they're wrong, but it contributes to ethnic divides and tensions within the nation.
  • General population's view on atheism: Allowed legally; frowned upon socially. Most people attend their church, synagogue, or mosque regularly. Not attending your place of worship is viewed as refusing to integrate with the community. This is noted in the media and in background checks, and often used as a way to discriminate against atheists, although certainly not on a systematic, wide-spread scale.
  • General population's view on abortion: Forbidden, absolutely. Life begins at conception, and aborting a fetus is considered murder. A doctor that offers abortion is stripped of their medical license and fined heavily; a doctor that actually performs one is imprisoned. A woman that looks for an abortion can be jailed until the end of her pregnancy, for the safety of the fetus. Underground/back-alley abortions are performed, but are unsafe, costly, and can often risk in the death of the woman in question. Despite this, abortion remains banned.
  • Status of religion in politics: Theodemocracy. Religion is major, major influence in politics, to the point of dictating it at times.
  • View on immigration into country: Fine, although why would anyone want to come here beyond tourism is mind-boggling to Kwitzambeans.
  • View on emigration out of country: Steady brain drain as Kwitzambe students flee to Althira to get higher education and more opportunities there. Some return to Kigomba to teach or lead, but most stay in Althira or go to other Euclean states where they have better rights and chances.
  • Women's Rights: Eh. Legally they are equal, but culturally they're relatively inferior, although exact nature of inferiority varies from area to area, family to family, culture to culture.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: All drugs banned except for alcohol and tobacco. Tobacco is acceptable, and cigar-smoking considered refined.
Alcohol use is acceptable in church rites and in moderation, although bars are considered dens of sin, and alcohol abuse is shameful.

National information
Official Name: The Democratic Republic of Lusanda
Shortened Name: Lusanda, Lusandan Republic
Requested Location: Here
RP Population: 87,000,000
Culture and Ethnicity: Primarily Swahili with a Yoruba minority, greatly influenced by colonial powers as well.
Government Type: Unitary presidential republic
Head of State: President Musa Jakande
Head of Government: Chancellor Baraka Ohakim
National Overview:

Lusandan history spans back as far as 10,000 years ago with the first hunter gatherer societies speaking a proto-Lusandi language of the Bantu family. These societies culminated in the rise of early settlements throughout the Ihwa river valley in modern northern Lusanda. Lusandi culture saw great development under the rule of the Kichoni civilization in the 13th century BCE, a coastal civilization which later expanded to cover much of the modern day state of Lusanda. The Kichoni ruled up until 900 BCE, dissolving and later being replaced by the Lusandi Empire which would span until 500 AD.

With the fall of the Lusandi in 500 AD Lusanda saw itself divided into a series of kingdoms and the odd republic. Surrounding powers exerted power over the fractured lands causing the country to be overtaken and influenced by various powers. In 1200 AD the country was properly unified under the Katuka Kingdom by King Haoniyao I. Haoniyao successfully unified the various tribes and kingdoms of Lusanda and maintained an independent Lusandi state up until the 19th century.

In the 19th century Lusanda came under the influence of various colonial power seeking to secure the natural resources of the country. A foreign policy of staunch isolationism throughout the 1600s-1700s had set the country back significantly thus leading to several military defeats at the hands of the Euclean powers. Lusanda became a colonial protectorate of (some Euclean power who is interested) up until 1949. The colonial period saw various internal conflicts between the colonizing force and indigenous resistance. Lusanda gained its independence in the late 1940s through an arduous political campaign headed President Koman Okar, the nation's founding statesman. Okar formed the National Development Party with the goal of modernizing the nation and healing the wounds left by colonization. After Okar's death in 1965 the National Development Party was divided into several other parties, the major ones being the Popular Movement (A social liberal grassroots based party) and the Democratic Liberal Party (A Lusandi nationalist party with center-right leanings). The Lusandi Socialist Party (A socialist party with advocated for a special form of 'Lusandi Socialism') was formed later in the 1960s and had a great deal in influencing the nation's early economic policy.

The Popular Movement maintained a stranglehold on (commonly referred to by the colloquial abbreviation "Harakafu") the majority of the nation's politics up until the late 1980s. Under the Popular Movement the country saw modernization along with progressive legislation which allowed for economic, political, and social progress at a steady rate. Unfortunately, the nation was plagued by various internal structural issues which eventually culminated in an armed conflict in the 1970s between a radical right-wing Christian heterodox faction of traditionalist nationalists. The conflict was resolved in 1977 with the capture of the faction's leadership and pacification of the Ngumbo region, the faction's headquarters and base of operations.

Today Lusanda is a developing nation with a plethora of economic opportunity. With a stable government that encourages freedom of expression and enterprise the country has seen historic growth. It isn't without its issues, however. Poverty is still rampant outside of the republic's growing urban centers and the nation suffers from considerable income inequality.

Other:
Factbook: Not yet but will get on it
RP Preferences: Character and diplomatic -- kind of hoping Lusanda evolves to be some sort of 'local' mediator.
RP Samples: Here
Primary/Other NS Nations: Navales, Mingdai, Sorgan
Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.):
Anything else?: I'm Navales but I decided to have Lusanda replace Navales since I wasn't really doing anything

National information
Official Name: The Noble Republic of Naitons (Comargosku: Noblu Rėspóbliko de Naⴽeө)
Shortened Name: The Hetmanate, Commonwealth, The Sich, or the Host. All work.
Requested Location: http://i.imgur.com/KCkLymu.png w
RP Population: 56,500,000
Culture and Ethnicity: Pretty much the same as Waz, however, there is a much stronger Ukrainian/Byelorusian, or "Cossack" influence in culture. Certain aspects are also changed due to the addition of Bógumilojisk.
Ethnicity is also essentially the same, with the largest parts being the Lotaliki (Balts like Lithuanians, Old Prussians, Latvians), the Northern Marolevs (West Slavs like Poles, Kaszubians, Silesians), Southwestern Marolevs (Ukrainians, Byelorusians), and the rest consisting of a small minority of Tatars and Germanics.
Government Type: Noble Republic. Every citizen is technically a "noble" due to laws implemented in the last century or so, so in actuality it functions more like a parliamentary multi-party democracy.
Head of State: Hetman Ciprijonas Kiskunas-Drzal.
Head of Government: Jan Utzówski
National Overview:

The history of the Commonwealth begins around 6,000 BCE, when the first Hyndo-Euclean tribes invaded the territory, which until then was inhabited by peoples probably related to the Tenics (Celts) and the Althi. They were eventually absorbed or died out.

Tribal civilizations and minor kingdoms appeared and fell for the next few thousand years, until the fall of Solaria sent merchants and peoples running off to the borderlands. Around 900 CE, the first Kingdom to be recorded in actual history, the Kingdom of Slesia, came into contact with Gaullican missionaries. From there, other Kingdoms, most notably Wazóvia and Lothuye, sprung up and also established contact with the known world. Wazóvia and Slesia united under personal union in 966, and 100 years later, in 1066, the same happened for Wazóvia and the much larger Lothuye, which owned a large chunk of the modern state. The two became united in 1313, forming a Commonwealth under the Dębno dynasty.

During this time, a few crusades were launched against it, due to the amount of "heresy and paganism" in the nation. They all failed, mainly due to guerrilla attacks and local "counter-Crusades" against invading armies.

Partially out of ethic, but mostly out of spite for the Papacy, the nation allowed religious freedom of any kind. Atudites from all around came to the Commonwealth, and remain to this day.

The Dębnos ruled until 1599, until they reached an interregnum. After a brief civil conflict, mainly in Lothuye, the Aligirski dynasty took power, under the new Król Iwan. Iwan proved to be a terrible leader, and after a drought in 1611, a civil war happening that lasted until 1615. A religious zealot turned military leader, Zanete Cers, led rebelling forces to victory at the Battle of Przembrzych, 30 km away from Ustowanię. Zanete established a Noble Republic, along with a large amount of social reforms, such as abolishing serfdom as much as possible.

Though controversial, her reforms eventually worked.

Zanete's Noble Republic eventually ran into a large amount of trouble during the 1880s, when the liberal Bógumilojisk clergy, slowly falling under the reach of socialism and communism, began pushing for heavy reforms based on beliefs that would later shape a communist state for the Commonwealth.

In 1920, the Social Host was formed, which became one of the first Communist/Syndicalist states in Euclea.

During the Great War, the Host was invaded in 1928 by Gaullican forces. The government fled along with a good chunk of the army and some civilians to nearby Althir in a Dunkirk-esque evacuation.
A state similar to Vichy France was set up during this time, with some troops being sent to other fronts.
For the next few years, partisan attacks, the occasional uprising, and Commando Raid would happen. The Commonwealth was invaded by allied in a D-Day styled invasion. One week after the invasion, said "Vichy State" declared war on Gaullica. The homeland was eventually retaken by 1933. They later helped participate in the invasion of Gaullica.

During the phoney war, the Host attempted to work with both Althir and Asteria, usually futile in their efforts. Some gains were made, though, and the Host eventually reverted back to a "Noble Republic" in 1980. It was essentially DemSoc, but open to the free market.

It rode out the 80s, 90s, and 00s in a period of large economic growth, although that has since stopped. It is also attempting to maintain cordial relations with both the PF, EC, and DITO.

Today, the Commonwealth stands out as a safe nation, full of kind people, but is still viewed as "odd" or "other" by most nations due to the influence of Bógumilojisk being the main religion. Its regarded as surprisingly accepting compared to its neighbors.

Although mainly considered a regional power, the Commonwealth is certainly not afraid to brandish itself when it needs to, and has been taking a much more active role in regional and world politics since 2000.

The government itself functions somewhat like Asteria's, where every major ethnic group in the Commonwealth gets its own voivodeship, or "state." They dictate their own laws to an extent, but still answer to the national government for the final say in major issues.

GenQues:
General population's view on gay rights/gay people: No problem.
General population's view on religions other than the primary one: The nation has historically been very accepting of other religions, and was one of the first nations in Medieval Euclea to pass a complete freedom of religion act in the 1400s.
View on Athiesm: No real persecution aside from being misunderstood. Priests and politicians will sometimes say unsavory things about atheists, however.
General population's view on abortion: Most of the population are pro-life, and abortion is illegal in some states. Abortion for social or economic reasons is banned, although this doesn't stop people from crossing state lines to go to other places and say that the baby was the result of rape.
View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): There isn't really a defined "primary ethnic group" in the Commonwealth. The government prefers to see it as a "union of peoples."
Status of religion in politics: Bógumilojisk plays a large role in politics as of today, although the state is supposed to be secular. Its along the lines of religion with the American GOP.
View on immigration into country: Generally in favour, except from Gaullica. Gaullicans get out.
View on emigration out of country: No opinion
Women's Rights: Pretty advanced throughout history due to the influence of Bógumilojisk. Nowadays, its on-par/a little ahead of most Euclean/AstSup nations.
Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: All drugs were legalized in 2002.

National information
Official Name: The Grand Khanate of Khatagh
Shortened Name: Khatagh, The Khanate, The Khaganate (Archaic)
Requested Location: Khatagh
RP Population: ~12,200,000
Culture and Ethnicity: Mongol-Altaic peoples. Some Turkic. Generally, when people in our world think "Asian Siberian people," people in Kylaris think "Khatagh." Also Ainu.
Government Type: Absolute Monarchy/Absolute Khanate. More along the lines of "Enlightened Despotism."
Head of State: Khan Menkakush Toyaa.
Head of Government: Khan Menkakush Toyaa.
National Overview: (A brief summary of your nation's general political ideology and society.)
It is essentially the Khatagh of old, although with a few new changes due to the heat death of QTO and changes I've wanted to make.
I'll give a quick rundown of its history:
- First inhabited by :notMongoTungusYeniseianTurkicAltaicAinutribes: in the few thousand years BCE.
- Almost nothing happened until around 200-300 BCE, when the first main Khaganate was established, the Myaasaanaa Khaganate.
- Myaasaanaa spends up until 100 CE harassing Song. Then it promptly collapses.
- Large migration #1 from surrounding area goes north due to climate changes. Later becomes :notHuns:/:notFinno-Urgics:
- Smaller Khanates and tribes are established, rise, and fall. Until around 1000/1200 (I'd prefer it moved up to around 1200), nothing major happens.
- Sanjar, the Great Khagan, unifies the tribes around 1200. Promptly spends the rest of his time conquering territories and whatnot. Migrations #2 and #3 happen, #2 semi-assimilates into the local populace, becoming :notmoderndayTurks:, and #3 becomes the Tatarics after establishing their own small state in Euclea. Later absorbed by Waz and surrounding nations.
- The Khaganate lasts until around 1300-1350, after which it splinters and becomes pretty much irrelevant unless you live next to Khatagh.
- Attempts to invade neighbors a few more times, mainly Song.
- Occupied by Song from around 1550-1700.
- Satyists cause a brief civil war in 1720.
- Occupied again by Song in 1746.
- Liberated during the Great War. Split up into various tribal states and confederations.
- Late 1930s and early 40s see reformation of nation under new Khan.
- Second civil war during the late 1940s over ethnic boundaries. :NotYeniseian: peoples subject of genocide similar to Bosnian one.
- Re-united in 1953.
- Remains independent to today.

Khatagh is along the lines of a growing regional power, and, despite its seemingly weaker position, it never really got rid of its "We are the heirs to the Great Khaganate" attitude. Because of this, diplomatic incidents are somewhat common with the nation and its neighbors, and in the recent past it has attempted (semi-successfully, some fail, some succeed) to pull off Crimea-esque invasions of neighboring territories. A common joke among diplomats in the CN is to take a shot whenever a Khataghi diplomat or ambassador tells the CN to fuck off.

The government, as said earlier, functions as an Absolute Monarchy similar to enlightened despotism. It attempts to maintain cordial relations with its neighbors. It's recently been taking more extreme actions against its meth problem, and has also spent the past 30 years establishing diplomatic interests abroad.

General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Mostly the "I don't care as long as they don't shove it in my face" stuff. Homosexuals are still somewhat looked down upon as unmanly if male.
General population's view on religions other than the primary one: The nation has historically been very accepting of other religions due to the Grand Khaganate. However, many people generally view Mazdaics, Mumins, and Christians with skepticism and, in some cases, disrespect.
View on Athiesm: Most people could honestly care less.
General population's view on abortion: Abortion is banned sans special cases.
View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Like in the Commonwealth, there isn't really a defined "primary ethnic group" in the Khanate. There are overarching groups, however, and tribal disputes between them sometimes come to a head.
Status of religion in politics: Tulgriism and Satyism play a surprisingly small role in politics outside of rituals.
View on immigration into country: Generally in favour.
View on emigration out of country: Make sure you get tribute, alright?
Women's Rights: Average for most Coian nations. Women are still seen generally as homemakers and housewives, although women have been taking a very large stand in politics and have been getting better standings since the recent Khan took power.
Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Marijuana and alcohol are legal. Tobacco is too. Khatagh is currently facing a problem regarding meth, and action is being taken.

Requested Location: temperate version of northern end of Coius
RP Population: 117.6 million
Culture and Ethnicity: I don't know how much of this belongs where so see National Overview
Government Type: constitutionally single party republic; democratic centralism and elections within party determine power structure
Head of State: Arhkhuvanatar Varaanida (Rjarhvene of Rhakhataabara [Rjarhvenedo Rhakhataabara], term rjarhvene is culture specific and unique like Caesar or Taoiseach, and has come to technically mean the leader of a unitary state but just generally refers to heads of state/gov or to Rhakhataabara's)
Head of Government: ditto, what's a separation of power
National Overview:
culture - importance but not dominance of virtue ethics like stuff, neither a native concept of secularism nor conception of organised religion, pragmatic, accepted suppression and restriction on public sphere, materialist, colder culture, shame-fear culture, strong aural/musical/literary tradition, disapproving of public emotion, moderate ideation of personal autonomy (perhaps linguistically preserved through whimperatives or maintained in frozen register paralinguistics) though people have kind of given up on that with this state, government stays out of marriage so same sex marriage isn't an issue. some minorities from immigration and natives who have not a great amount of influence.

economy - gdppc nominal of 27.8k, government interventionism and nationalisation of some industries (especially energy and arms), large megacorporations controlled by established interests who cooperate with government, some restrictions on foreign companies and other foreign investment, government program of seizing (with compensation) patents of particular usefulness, strong planning measures using particularly advanced software, living welfare only to those who can't work or can prove they are looking for it, major industries include arms, heavy industry, chemicals, medicines, vehicles, some agriculture, some mining (coal, iron, bauxite, copper, zinc, tin, uranium, oil, natural gas, sand [not final]), some light industry, perhaps some tourism. large scale migration of labour, with rights fairly curtailed but citizenship can be worked up to. wealth inequality actually not that large. architecture today tends to be utilitarian, characterised by emphasis on form in ornamentation with stone a favourite material

politics - openly one party state, republic, party has democratic centralism and sort of grassroots membership to help legitimise itself, motto will probably be (For the People's Good [lit: good for people]), formerly revolutionary (perhaps back to GW era, or some time before or after), corruption a chronic but not devastating issue, laws somewhat draconian; of course lower level stuff is fines and other reprimands, perhaps joining an army labour unit, but murder may get you executed. fairly large military, transitioning to small highly teched up model but for now perhaps a bit infantry dependent, well rounded also in naval and air, probably known nuclear power. public gatherings disallowed, free speech probably given lip service but not really there (but not harshly enforced either; it is cracked down on for how dangerous it seems), artistic expression tends to be freer but institutions like universities are controlled to keep them on straight and narrow, secret police is a thing

geography - probably highly urbanised, partially a tool to uproot regional communities (it's harder to maintain an identity in an integrated suburb than a country province), perhaps some mountains to separate from rest of dirty coius, temperate; grasslands and rolling hills, ranging from mediterranean beaches to slightly chilly inland highlands, probably generally fertile in terms of soil type, will have some interesting features here and there though

history - i was hoping i could perhaps have like a kind of cradle of civilisation thing going on; earliest place of invention of agriculture, mesopotamia city states etc. (an Assyrian Empire or two even) that end in a collapse similar to irl Indus River Valley civ but if not that's ok
period of archaeological obscurity, fierce debate over whether people migrated from the south, to the south, how many, what level of admixture resulted, level of economic development, and so forth until some time before Kannian(?) Empire, when the whole place has a relatively rapid development of cities and other urbanities and signs of economic development - conquered but quickly lost similar to northern India by Alexander

petty kingdoms beat each other around, federate and fall to bits variously, in this period proto-Arhfatal (Old Arhfatal? Archaic Arhfatal?) spreads, some important arts and philosophies are developed

Solaria arrives, either does not manage to quite conquer the place (or at least never for very long), or does so in a way similar to Greece or Egypt and administers it from afar with autonomy, causing cultural contact and development but not managing to assimilate it as Roman Gaul or anything

whenever they collapse local despots just kind of take over the joint again along with some societal collapse; however after a while Okhatulja conquers and unites the region mostly and establishes a united thing. it falls after a few generations into regionalism but the idea is sown and another few generations Bororatule unites the country under a dynasty. similar to china, a few united dynasties pass, in this period rjarhvene as a term develops and Arhfatal becomes quite properly completely dominant

the last dynasty has collapsed for a short while when Euclean imperialism really gets going in the region; eastern ideologies gain foothold (esp. democracy liberalism)

eventually revolutionaries manage to provoke and lead a revolution that unites the petty states (variously monarchist, republican mostly) and they instate their own ideology which is like for lack of a less tactless oxymoron democratic fascism (analogous to democratic socialism)
of course that doesn't work out and a limited counterrevolution, semi-peaceful, perhaps during the GW, replaces it with a more stable regime that is efficient but quiet and thus continues to the present day in its bureaucratic churning

also probably greenish; some environmental protections where it's self serving, believing in climate change but committed to it in a cynical realist realpolitik view

National information
Official Name: Althirian Union (Althiric: Eylrafed Wϊltyrwl)
Shortened Name: Althira (Althiric: Wϊltyr)
Requested Location: m'island
RP Population: 145,000,000
Culture: As an ancient nation and ethnic group with a long history, Althiran culture is - despite being looked down upon by Gaullican scholars - a rich tradition. Before the collapse of Old Althira, the island was a centre of cultural development alongside Solaris and Susa. After the introduction of Sotirianism, it made a huge impact on Althirian culture; conversely, after the victory of Cooperativism in the country, Althirian culture began to shift, promoting proletarian internationalism and other such ideals. Despite this, like most countries Althira has a noticeable rural-urban split. Rural areas tend to be more traditional in outlook, while urban areas are more progressive. Althira is considered a front-runner in terms of social issues; homosexuality was legalised after the revolution along with same-sex marriage, marking it the second country in the world to allow for couples of the same sex to marry. Gender equality is also a key part of Cooperativist ideology.
  • Ethnicity: By far, the largest ethnic group in Althira is Althirian. There are a few ethnic minorities, mostly due to immigration, and are differences between the regional variations of both the Althiric language and Althirian ethnicity.
  • Religion: Ever since the Second Great Schism, Althira has been dominated by the Lotherist faith, centred on it's holiest northern mountain. Nominally Sotirian, it is widely considered a heresy. Other forms of Sotirianity are also present - mostly Solarian Catholicism - along with immigrant religions such as Salam, Hyndism etc. Irreligion is also a common phenomenon. Freedom of religion across the country has been assured since the revolution.
  • Languages: The most widely spoken and sole official language is Althiric, which is both believed to be a language isolate and to have been one of the previous languages of Euclea before the arrival of the Hyndo-Eucleans.
Government Type: Cooperativist confederation of worker cooperatives
Head of State: Tïlylr Llyrpuld Lylith, Premier of Althira
Head of Government: Eylgylr Diyrhotryer Iywe, Chairperson of Althira
Major Power Status: Considered one of the worlds Great Powers, Althira is potentially the world's largest naval power, and has significant military, economic, political and cultural influence globally.
  • Predominant Ideology of the Power: Scientific Cooperativism is the official ideology of Althira. It is mostly indistinguishable from orthodox Cooperativism, however Technophillia is inserted, due to the compromise dating to the revolutionary period between the intelligentsia and the working class revolutionaries. Essentially, it advocates working class empowerment through education, and proletarian dominance through advanced technology.
  • “Bloc Name”: As the most powerful member, Althira effectively leads the International Congress, which is a loose union of Cooperativist leagues, internationalist left-leaning nations and Bahian states.
  • Foreign Policy Ambitions of the Power: Spread the immortal science of Scientific Cooperativism, protect and expand the Congress, oversee the final victory of Cooperativism within the century.
  • GDP Per Capita: $50,200 GDP per capita (nominal), putting the overall nominal GDP at $7.2 trillion.
  • Percentage of GDP spent on Military: 3.5% of GDP. The navy is the most funded branch of the armed forces, with the army, air force and missile troops also still being prized of course. As a nuclear state, a vast amount of funding also goes into preserving and maintaining nuclear weapons.
  • Capability to Project Power: The Union finds it easy to exert power and influence across the world in most fields. With a strong military centred on it's prestigious navy, Althira is capable of projecting military force in most regions of the world. It's soft power is also nothing to be scoffed at; through the International Development Bank and International Education Program, the Union spreads it's cultural and economic influence wide. This is compounded by the already-strong Althirian economy and culture. It has trade relations to some degree with most modern states, and in the case of fellow International members it has especially close relations and trade boons. Additionally, it's nuclear weapons and position within the Community of Nations give it considerable clout in the international community.
History Post the Great War and a Summary of Previous Events: Following the culmination of the Great War - in which Althira was indisputably victorious - Althira experienced a second modern golden age (the first having occurred in the immediate aftermath of the Revolution). The economy grew drastically, and Althira was essentially the largest and most powerful power in Euclea. Additionally, the culmination of many military projects had given Althira an edge in most fields; not least in the completion of an unused nuclear weapon - the first of it's kind. Althira was a founder of the Community of Nations, and soon established the International Congress to unite and protect other Cooperativist states, perceived oppressed peoples and, as time went on, key geopolitical allies. As the modern age dragged on, Althira found itself losing ground in many places. In Euclea, Gaullica was rising once more and the creation of the EC had only exacerbated the power of that state. In Coius, Songguo, Negara and Hyndana - all former allies in the Great War - also grew to challenge Althira. And the Federation, perhaps Althira's antithesis on most grounds, saw itself grow also. This led to a shift in Althiric doctrine. The Iron Curtain - the nation's "impregnable" navy was expanded, the International Development Bank was established to spread economic influence and the International University was established to strengthen ties to Althira's allies. In the modern age, Althira sees itself as the last defender of the downtrodden across Kylaris. Asteria and Gaullica drone on about their "liberty", but their liberty is only for the wealthy. Althira knows otherwise! Althira knows that it's hard fought liberty is for all! Ülywlä Wϊltyr!

  • 1600 BCE - The "Frozen River Valley" civilisation flourishes and promptly collapses after a climate shift.
  • 750 BCE - The Six Tribes Pact; after a great war, the five major tribes are united under the "newcomers" known as Tïlylr. The leader of each tribe rule in unison, beginning the period known as the Rule of Six.
  • 485 BCE - After a brief but brutal civil war, the Rule of Six is brought to an end and the now-fully-united Althiric Ascendancy, known to many as Old Althira, begins forging an empire under the Diarchs.
  • 440 BCE - First Althiric colonies on the north Euclean coast are established.
  • 370 BCE - Internal struggles become more profound, and the Diarchs begin appointing two Consuls; one for each Diarch.
  • 190 BCE - The Diarch system continues to hold, but the Consuls accrue more power and every succession the next pair of Diarchs seem to despise one another more than the last.
  • 10 CE - One of the two Diarchs at the time, Yrüyl, murders the other and their Consuls and proclaims the foundation of the Althiric Despotate. His dynasty would rule until the Despotate's collapse.
  • 300 CE - Generally considered the peak of Old Althira.
  • 334 CE - The Dawning War breaks out between Old Althira and the Solarian Empire. It is the bloodiest war up until that date. The outcome of the war severely destabilizes the Despotate.
  • 358 CE - The First Popular Revolt; Under the charismatic leadership of populist peasant leader Ïrdtydylr Olytrwr Lyral, large portions of the lower classes of the country rise up against the Despot, following an ideology now described as proto-Cooperativism. After a prolonged civil war, they manage to bring down the Despotate; but only after the death of Lyral and the demise of many of the other peasant leaders. Their proto-Cooperativist society was not achieved, and instead the various colonies declared independence and the homeland itself was split between feuding lords in what becomes known as the Red Time.
  • 390 CE - Sotirianity is introduced and gradually becomes the largest faith on the island.
  • 450 CE - In the Second Great Schism, Althiric heretics under the monk Lother leave the Catholic Church and establish their own, centred in the Althiric mountains.
  • 1000 CE - Althira is united under King Lycias. The Red Time comes to an end.
  • 1000s-1500s CE - Althira partakes in Euclean politics, and despite their heresy maintains an influence in the continent's affairs. It likely fights many wars in this time frame.
  • 1500s CE - First Althirian colonies in the new world, particularly in eastern Senouillac.
  • 1500s-1700s CE - Althira fights wars with rival Eucleans, colonises this that and the other.
  • 1700s CE - The line of Althiric Kings grow weak; the Council of Six - their "advisory" body essentially takes control of the country from this point on.
  • 1800s CE - Imperialism II: Steampunk Boogaloo.
  • 1898 CE - Economic downturn combined with recent military defeats, the decadence of the King, the incompetence of the ruling Council of Six and the rise of revolutionary ideologies leads to the Althirian Revolution; also known as the Second Popular Revolt. The King and Council are defeated, and the Cooperativist revolutionaries - allied with the technophillic intelligentsia and distributionist clergy - take control, establishing the Althirian Union and instituting "Scientific Cooperatavism".
  • 1930s CE - Althira joins the Great War and kicks Gaullica's lil butt.

Social views:
  • General population's view on homosexuality: Since the revolution in particular, rights for homosexuals have been assured, and the general population - while having taken close to half a century to do it - is now generally supportive of LGBT+ rights.
  • General population's view on other religions: The Althirian people are fairly tolerant of other religions. This is founded both in the traditional tolerance of Lotherism, and in the secular position taken by the government since the triumph of Cooperativism. Despite a troubled history within Althira, Solarian Catholicism is also tolerated within the country, and is one of it's largest Sotirian sects. Despite this, Lotherist philosophy and ideals has a great deal of influence on the culture, and this can permeate into xenophobic views in regards to "foreign" religions, in particular Solarian Catholicism suffered this in the past.
  • General population's view on irreligion: Since the revolution all those years ago, irreligion has been tolerated within the country; and the numbers of irreligious citizens in the Union has increased drastically since it's foundation. While many religious organisations might view irreligion with discontentment, the overwhelming majority of citizens - living in a secular society - take a view of tolerance, however there is a somewhat vocal minority who wish to return to the "good old days".
  • General population's view on abortion: Views on abortion in the country are very liberal. While critics decry "on-demand" abortions, the country in general is very supportive of the "ease of access" to abortion that exists. The taboo surrounding abortion that exists in Gaullica, for example, does not exist in any significant form in Althira for the most part.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups: On the whole, the Althirian population - holding very internationalist views - do not hold many racial stereotypes, or at least do not think lowly of "other" races. This has been tested since the revolution with the large-scale immigration of other ethnic groups - such as Bahians - to the Union. While most Althirians have maintained their internationalist views, others again yearn to return to the "good old [white] days".
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: There has been a historical resentment towards Solaris, and ergo Solarians, which has to some extent been superimposed onto Gaullicans as their main successors. Since the revolution this has largely disappeared or at least died down; indeed, most Althirians view Gaullicans highly after the Great War, believing they have "repented" in a way. Solarian Catholicism has a similar story. The rich of other countries are also often viewed with mistrust.
  • View on immigration into country: Most Althirians still hold internationalist views dating back to the revolution, and are generally ambivalent towards immigration. Others are far more socially conservative and only wish for "white" immigration (or no immigration at all), however these views are generally in the minority.
  • Women's rights: An outlier to perhaps most of the world excluding Glytter, Althira is generally considered to have reached gender equality. The political sphere is, especially when compared to other countries, fairly evenly split between the two genders, and most people do not hold typically sexist views or prejudices. This draws from both Lotherism which has been traditionally gender equal, and the revolution.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: A general libertarian view. Tobacco, most drugs and alcohol are all legal provided a certain age (differing by substance) is reached. Most people themselves hold mixed views towards them. Some are unconcerned with what others consume, others wish to impose their own views.

National information
Official Name: Union Satucinais / Union of Satucin
Shortened Name: Satucin
Requested Location: In Ast. Inf. as discussed with LC
RP Population: Undecided. I'd assume it'd fall somewhere between 100 and 180 million, but I'll leave it for later to be discussed.
Culture and Ethnicity: Rough racial chart
The culture of Satucin is a blend of Gaullican and the various indigenous cultures, though there does exist a conflict between what is seen as a dilution of proper Gaullican culture by the native by some. As for languages, the official national language, and the one of politics, media, academicia, etc., will be Modern Standard Gaullican (as defined by Gaullica), while Geuche, a Gaullican dialect influenced heavily by Ngu, and Ngu, a native language of some of the indigenous peoples on the coast made into a regional lingua franca for natives and subsequently colonists ala Swahili, are both recognised national languages. There are a multitude of other languages spoken, but other than local native languages none are recognised at any official level.

I will be basing it off Brazil, and more widely American countries, but as you know from my work on Werania I often deviate greatly from the base.
Government Type: Democratic federal republic
Head of State: President Elodie Pueyrredón
Head of Government: Prime Minister Martin Allaire
National Overview: Rough political chart
A country which has been largely politically stable since Gaullica united the separate colonies in 18xx, until the outbreak of the Great War. During the Great War it remained loyal to Gaullica, and fought alongside it. At the wars end it declared independence from the new Gaullican Republic, which was recognised soon after, and after a plebiscite by [some of the islands north of it] peacefully annexed those former Gaullican territories, and re-organised itself into a federal republic. Political stability both pre and post Great War has allowed it to develop significantly.

The population remains largely concentrated in the north, and along the coasts, and is largely urban. Federally it is comprised of 8 republics, three territories, and two union cities. The majority religion is Solarian Catholic, while Amendist, Pelagian, Salam, and other religions form a minority.

General population's view on gay rights/gay people: LGBT rights exist in the nation, and the population largely support them. Civil unions for same-sex couples were legalised in the 2000s, while same-sex marriage has been a bitter battle between those who want it, those who don't, and those who dislike government defining marriage, with the population split on the issue as well.
General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Most religions are accepted, depending on how extremist they are, and the nation is secular.
General population's view on atheism: The right to be an atheist, or agnostic, is protected by law, and most of the general population have no ill views on those who are.
General population's view on abortion: Abortion is viewed somewhat negatively, though legally it is available in cases of rape or danger to mother's health. Attempts to relax abortion laws have so far failed.
View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): There exists discrimination against natives, Coians, and new immigrant groups, but it is relatively tame, and efforts have been made to stamp it out, especially discrimination against natives.
Status of religion in politics: The nation is secular, and religion plays no official role in politics.
Any big prejudices in your nation (widespread discrimination against a particular group, linguistic conflict, etc): There is some conflict between those considered white, and those considered métissé, as whites have traditionally dominated Satucin since its inception. In recent years steps to include more métissé in politics and media has somewhat lessened this conflict.
View on immigration into country: There is no official government policy on choice of immigration, though in reality it encourages Euclean (especially Gaullican) and Asterian immigrants over Bahian or Coian. The government tends to keep net immigration down to the ten's of thousands
Women's Rights: Full equality under the law, though in practice men still dominate politics and academia, and there is a notable difference in career choices by men and women.
Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Most drugs are illegal, and carry harsh sentences for those dealing/supplying them, while usage is also criminalised, though sentences tend to be lighter depending on whether it is a first offence, or reoffence. There have been some legislation combating tobacco, such as disallowing it inside public or private areas, but the fight is still ongoing. The age to buy alcohol is 18, nd the government tries to encourage safe drinking through subsidising and regulating pubs, clubs, etc.

Corrupt Dictatorship

Postby Senkaku » Wed Jul 05, 2017 5:09 pm

Official Name: Song Empire/宋華帝國/Sònghuá Dìguó
Shortened Name: Songguo
Requested Location: Here in Southern Coius, bordering Cheonhae, Phula, Khatagh, Negara, and Namkwon.
RP Population:
- 2017 Estimate: 706,505,924
Culture:
  • Ethnicity: Predominantly Song, with Peng, Chau, Rygyali, Phuli, Namkwonese, Khataghi, Cheonhaen, Bahian, and other minority groups.
  • Religion: Traditional ancestor worship/animism, civic religion/imperial cult, and Satyism are dominant, followed more distantly by Sotirianity. Songguo also has tiny Mumin, Atudite, and Mazdaic minorities.
  • Languages: Standard Song, regional Song dialects, Chau, and Rygyali account for the vast majority of speakers, with smaller groups speaking other languages comprising a much smaller segment of the population. Gaullican is also recognized as an official language in Baishadao.
Government Type: Centralized Coian Constitutionalist State (authoritarian single-party constitutional monarchy)
Head of State: Emperor Hongxi of Zhen
Head of Government: Chairman of the State Council and First Minister Hao Jinkai
Major Power Status: One of the world's foremost military, economic, and cultural powers.
  • Predominant Ideology of the Power: Songguo operates within a system known to political theorists as "Coian Constitutionalism", referring to southern Coius's two great monarchies- Songguo and Hyndana- and their idiosyncratic legal structures intended to place checks on the power of the monarch. The country maintains what could be considered leftist economic policies, a situation forged in the crash industrialization programs of the 1940s and onwards, but lacks the radical ideological vision that some nations- Asteria with its democracy, Althira with Cooperativism, Gaullica and Negara with their radical republicanism- export abroad to bolster their power and legitimacy.
  • “Bloc Name”: Songguo leads the Pan-Coian Co-Prosperity Sphere, an alliance consisting of its regional allies and satellite states. The Co-Prosperity Sphere encompasses a military alliance, economic and trade agreements, and programs to enhance cultural and scientific exchange and understanding.
  • Foreign Policy Ambitions of the Power: Secure Song geopolitical dominance in Southern Coius, especially by targeting and undermining the strength of Nematsu and Negara, grow the economy by continuing prosperous trade with Euclea and continue a smooth and ongoing transition towards a service economy.
  • GDP Per Capita: $12,507 (nominal)
  • Percentage of GDP spent on Military: 3.0% ($265,088,087,744)
  • Capability to Project Power: Songguo maintains significant hard power in the form of a fearsome military, though its ability to project this power outside of the region of Southern Coius is largely limited to naval expeditionary forces or long-range aircraft and missiles, or forces stationed at a small number of bases the country maintains, scattered around the globe. In addition to Songguo's significant military power, its leaders have increasingly espoused the use of financial incentives and direct investment to project soft power, especially in the developing world, and student exchange programs and other cultural ties, along with burgeoning and well-established trade ties, have increasingly helped it project soft power to Euclea and the northern hemisphere's wealthy nations as well. The Co-Prosperity Sphere also significantly magnifies the country's hard and soft power in the Southern Coius region, lending it additional military, economic, and cultural clout.
  • History Post the Great War and a Summary of Previous Events:

Prior to the Great War, Songguo had been ruled by a series of imperial dynasties for nearly 4,000 years. The country drew its name- literally "country of the Song" from one of these dynasties, the mighty Song, who forged one of the mightiest empires in Antiquity and ruled it for nearly a thousand years, helping to create modern Songguo's cultural identity. The Song, who succeeded the An, were followed by a period of anarchy known as the First Interregnum, out of which emerged the even more formidable Li Dynasty. The Li would rule for nearly as long as the Song before in turn succumbing to the inevitable shift of the Mandate of Heaven, ushering in the Second Interregnum. Out of this chaotic period rose the Hong dynasty, arguably Songguo's mightiest dynasty, which pushed the frontiers of the empire far beyond what previous dynasties had managed and began kicking off an industrial revolution. However, the Hong eventually succumbed to internal strife and the invasion of foreign barbarians as the Khataghi hordes poured off the Coian steppe in the late middle ages. Khatagh's rule over Songguo was brief and marked by terrible misfortune, quickly ushering in the Third Interregnum, and soon the Zhen dynasty rose from the ashes of the Hong to reunify and rebuild Songguo. However, despite their prosperity and power, the Zhen dynasty proved slow to adapt as Euclea rapidly industrialized in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Gaullica, and then a host of other powers, forced Song markets open at gunpoint beginning in the early/mid-1800s, seizing concession ports and favorable trade terms, and forcing the dynasty to adopt drastic self-strengthening measures to attempt to weather the onslaught. However, these measures failed to prevent a crushing and humiliating defeat in the 1890s at the hands of Nematsu, Songguo's long-lost province. Reform measures continued, but simmering political discontent began to spill over, with new and exciting political ideas from Euclea bubbling under the surface and threatening the existence of the Phoenix Throne itself.

The 1930s saw large regions of the country devastated by a second Nematsese invasion, but Song forces, once mobilized, resisted pitilessly and ground the invaders down. Following the successful expulsion of the last Nematsese forces from the mainland and the peace treaty that concluded the second war between the two countries, the disparate political groups that had grudgingly fought together during the war despite having been at one another's throats prior to it were able to find common ground at the Dongjing Convention, guided by Tanluan. A former Satyist monk who had risen to prominence as a militia leader against the Nematsese and had proven able to unify various groups fighting the invaders, Tanluan would earn the epithet "Great Helmsman" in the subsequent years for his adept handling of the Convention and its various competing interests, and successfully saw the completion of the Song Constitution. This triumph ushered in a new government, which immediately began bold reforms and the famous crash industrialization programs. Tanluan also guided the creation of the Pan-Coian Co-Prosperity Sphere, forming an instrument of control for Songguo throughout the region. Throughout the 40s and into the 50s, Songguo's economy exploded. At the same time, however, tensions remained high with its neighbors, as Nematsu still occupied the island of Kaizhou and other islands off of the Song coast, and friction arose with Negara in the Sainam region. The government chose to successfully pursue a nuclear program at the time, recognizing its necessity in the face of nuclear-armed rivals. Songguo also acquired a number of military bases overseas as the decades wore on, eventually including large naval and air bases in Kigomba and Rhakhataabala, and smaller bases in Fars and the Celestial Isles.

Tanluan died in the early 50s, paving the way for new leaders to move towards a more bellicose foreign policy. This first became apparent as Song armies moved to back revolutionaries engaged in toppling Namkwon's corrupt, colonially-sponsored monarchy, and then to crush Negaran-supported Siamati separatists, sparking the Namkwon Emergency. Following the collapse of the Nguyen dynasty and the Negaran-backed Siamati Revolution, Namkwon joined the Co-Prosperity Sphere. Several years later, Songguo's renewed belligerence later manifested in an even more terrifying conflict- the third war between Songguo and Nematsu, which began when a Song submarine fired a nuclear torpedo with no warning at the Nematsese battle fleet while it conducted exercises, swarms of Song warplanes targeted Nematsu itself, and Song troops began swarming onto the beaches of Kaizhou. The brutal conflict would see both sides employ nuclear weapons against one another, though thankfully almost entirely directed at military targets, and in the end the CN intervened to moderate a peace deal. While they may have prevented the war from escalating further, the peace deal was humiliating for Nematsu- Songguo forced it to cede the last of the territory it had stolen in the first war between the two countries back in the 1890s and to pay a vast indemnity. Despite this triumph, nearly three-quarters of a century in the making, the war was a body blow to the Song military- which suffered huge casualties- and to the economy, which saw major setbacks and a slowing in its rapid growth. Song leadership backed away some from the fever pitch of aggression that was reached during this time, but friction still erupted in Southern Coius, such as the 1971 Southwest Frontier War, when Negara and Songguo confronted one another among the mountains of Rygyal over Songguo's efforts to gain permanent committee seats in the CN. The formation of the SCDI, meanwhile, has led Song people to coin a shorthand phrase to describe the two hostile powers on their sides- "西鲨, 东狼", or "Western Shark and Eastern Wolf."

By the beginning of the 80s, the Song economy was feeling the impacts of several decades of breakneck growth- which had been rudely interrupted on occasion by wars or foreign responses to the regime's belligerence. The failure of the 1983 monsoon and the unrest it sparked in Namkwon and rural areas of Songguo, along with the beginnings of an economic downturn and internal political problems, precipitated the dangerous 6-6 Crisis in 1984, in which Songguo saw anarchy, bloodletting, and near-civil war conditions unleashed across the country before a new government was able to restore order and calm in early 1985. Only the ever-present threat of a thermonuclear holocaust prevented the surrounding powers from attempting to prey on the country during this dark period, with many wondering if Song commanders might simply push the button without any orders or provocation at all.

The world breathed a sigh of relief with the restoration of calm and order to Songguo, and the new government began a more open and friendly period of interaction with the world. Economic growth once again picked up, paving the way for smoother, if still frosty relations with some surrounding powers, but political machinations within the Song state continued. The gradual ascendance of Grand Secretary Zhao Bolin began leading to an increasing shift back towards some of the belligerent measures the Song regime had once widely implemented, culminating in another war in Sainam with the 2016 Siamati conflict, where Songguo brazenly denied the involvement of thousands of its troops in a full-scale invasion of Siamat. This has proven too much for the country's entrenched establishment, which has grown reliant over the last 32 years on foreign trade and better diplomatic relations, and the Grand Secretary was overthrown in a violent coup d'etat later that year.

    (more to be added later)

General population's view on gay rights/gay people: While Songguo has no deep cultural biases against LGBT people, Song culture is deeply centered around families having children. This frequently leads to Song LGBT people entering into heterosexual marriages for the purpose of having children, while keeping lovers outside of the marriage. In particular, Songguo has seen something of a phenomenon of gay men and lesbian women pairing off along these lines, a trend accelerated by the rise of dating apps and digital services as well as artificial insemination. The government has legalized same-sex marriage and adoption, but the cultural pressure to have children, and deep-seated biases against children of unmarried parents (often called "broken families") leads many LGBT Song people to submit to living in these sham marriages for the purpose of having children. The messiness of such marriages, where one or both partners may have lovers outside of the marriage has become something of a trope in Song literature and film. However, the younger generations, especially in major cities, have proven more progressive on this matter. Like many "social questions", the cultural issues surrounding gay marriage are often considered uncomfortable or taboo to discuss openly.
General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Songguo is generally apathetic at best towards religion. The government is only concerned insofar as any particular religious threat might pose political or security risks, and organized religion has never been particularly strong in the country. Most people are non-practicing or offer token homage to the traditional mixture of ancestor worship and civic religion.
General population's view on atheism: See above- Songguo could give less of a shit about religion, basically.
General population's view on abortion: Songguo is generally fairly liberal on abortion, especially for unmarried women, women with health risks, rape victims, or pregnancies where the fetus may be born with serious health problems. However, the situation is murkier when it comes to married couples, and many believe even if a couple cannot provide for their baby or the child is conceived by an affair or the couple simply doesn't want more children, they should at least deliver it and put it up for adoption. Abortion is considered distasteful or taboo for most people to discuss.
View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Song people or people who speak dialects of Songhua (such as the Peng) form the significant majority of Songguo's population, and look down even on Song citizens of Chau and Rygyali descent, as well as foreigners, as barbarian outsiders. Song people tend to be more tolerant towards Namkwonese and Cheonhaen people, but Song culture is permeated with virulent anti-Nematsese racism (and to a lesser degree, anti-Negaran racism). In general, non-Song peoples are seen with deeply racist attitudes by most of the population.
Any big prejudices in your nation: Toxic and virulent anti-Nematsu sentiment, strong dislike of Negara and Siamatis, strong disapproval towards unmarried couples having children (and to a lesser degree towards divorce, though some say this sentiment has been imported over the centuries from Gaullica), general racist views towards non-ethnic Song people, sexist attitudes about working women, and regional prejudices- urban versus rural, inland versus coast, east versus west, capital versus "provincials", et cetera
View on immigration into country: Most immigrants coming to Songguo are from the neighboring Co-Prosperity Sphere countries and do not intend to stay for long, but rather join an ever-sloshing sea of migrant laborers to make their fortunes and return to their homelands. As such, many poor, rural people who may also be migrant laborers view them with suspicion and distrust, but the middle and upper classes are simply ambivalent towards them, recognizing their important role in the economy and preferring to keep them- along with native migrant laborers- quiet and out of sight.
Women's Rights: Women are, officially, equal, but long-held sexist attitudes about a woman's proper role in society have long held Song women back from achieving true equality with men, and men still dominate most professional fields.
Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Songguo has legalized the production, distribution, and use of practically all recreational drugs, which are viewed simply as substances to be experimented with and enjoyed. Song society is very open about recreational drugs, and Songguo is one of the largest consumers of nearly every class of narcotics in the world, as well as one of the world's largest drug producers.

Official Name: The Gaullican Republic/République Gaulloise
Shortened Name: Gaullica
Requested Location: We are all aware as to where Gaullica is, I believe.
RP Population: Roughly 94,000,000 individuals.
Culture: Gaullica exists in a field of contrasting cultural ideas. Forces of conservatism and liberalism are fighting a battle within the state, reflected in those who still believe in a "glorious past" and those who look to a "future for the taking." Gaullican culture is heavily based on Solarian Catholicism, it has its lifeblood in the state. Clergy is reflected, religious holidays are made state holidays, weekends are respected, the populace wear their faith - for the most part - on their chest with pride. This exemplary notion of faith is perhaps something that defines Gaullican culture on moral issues. Topics such as homosexuality, abortion and divorce have all been legalised under progressive socialist governments, but their status in society - particularly for the latter two - are viewed as taboo. Gaullican culture places a great value on community and "being a good person" due to its ties with religion, but this is entirely subjective to each individual. Yet, at the same time as this, Gaullica is experiencing trends from its "Radical Republicanism" - the notion of the past must be shed for the mistakes it made. Film, literature, fashion and styles are all incredibly liberalised, the urban has become against the rural (though this is a gross oversimplification) and for that the culture of Gaullica is perhaps not something that can be so neatly summarised.
  • Ethnicity: Predominantly Gaullican, with Amañeihiz and Gordes minorities. Coians, Bahians and Badawiyans are present in the state through migrations after the end of the colonial empires of the world. Euclean migration has also resulted in minorities of other Eucleans, virtually all of them, in Gaullica.
  • Religion: Solarian Catholicism, Atudaism, Salam, various other forms of Sotirianity and Agnosticism/Atheism.
  • Languages: The only official language is 'Gaullican', recognised regional language are Amañeihiz and Gordes. A vast host of languages find themselves present in Gaullica, but in the fields of education only Estmerish seems to have been picked up by the populace as a secondary language for some.
Government Type: Presidential Federal Republic
Head of State: President Jean Vallette (SD)
Head of Government: Prime Minister Monique Degar-Abdulrashid (SD)
Major Power Status: One of the leading forces in the world, culturally, economically and potentially militarily.
  • Predominant Ideology of the Power: Gaullica fluctuates from Sotirian Distributism and Maternalism to modified forms of Floweritism. Overall, this operates under a larger ideological position of "Radical Republicanism" in that Gaullica has tried, due to its connotations to the horror of the Great War, to shed its monarchist past.
  • “Bloc Name”: Gaullica is the de-facto leader of the Euclean Community due to its "leader" status within it.
  • Foreign Policy Ambitions of the Power: Secure the economic dominance of the Euclean Community in Euclea, continue operations of "Continentalisation" the Community and continue to maintain positive relationships with as many of her former colonies as she can; particularly those in the Asterias who are ethnically Gaullican.
  • GDP Per Capita: I'm fine with anywhere from the 45k - 49k range, if that is permissible. With my population accounted for, I believe this sets me on a GDP of 4.3 trillion or thereabouts.
  • Percentage of GDP spent on Military: 2% of the aforementioned 4.3 trillion.
  • Capability to Project Power: As a major player, Gaullica is capable of projecting both hard and soft power around most vestiges of the world. "La Gaullophonie" (in theory) allows her to push forth cultural, linguistic and other such ideas to her former territories and build upon them with those who have a shared history with Gaullica. The Euclean Community allows Gaullica's economic power to be presented across the Euclean Continent, as the Community - at best - works together to solidify their economic strength. Both these institutions allow Gaullica to project various forms of power into different fields. Yet, they pose a problem for Gaullica: to expand one will most likely come at the behest of the others; Conservative minded individuals are fine with the Community how it is now by the Gaullophonie must be strengthened, whilst more Liberal individuals favour the opposite. Beside this all, Gaullica maintains military bases across her remaining islands; including Nouveau Anglet, which allows a strategic place to station her fleets and airforces to allow her access to the southern hemisphere. Both the Community and the Gaullophonie also allow power to be projected in the notion of economic aid and programmes that promote the education and sciences.
  • History Post the Great War and a Summary of Previous Events: Following the end of the Great War, Gaullica was declared a republic in the September of 1936 following a provisional government during 1935-1936. Her first president, to the behest of many outside onlookers was Albert III - a former monarch. This was a dark sign for those who wished for democracy to prevail, but it came to fruition when he abided by the limitations of the constitution and stepped down. During his tenure Gaullica joined the Community of Nations and he oversaw the plebiscites of various Arucian island colonies that were not stripped from Gaullica during the war, many joining with Satucin. In 1940 Gaullica and other Euclean Countries were bound economically to one another by Asteria in attempts to contain war on the magnitude of the Great War. This eventually led to the ratification of the 'x' treaty in which the Euclean Economic Cooperative was established in 1948. Two years prior, Albert III had also founded "La Gaullophonie" with other Gaullican-speaking countries. Constrained by the limitations of the Treaty of Sartoux, Gaullica spent the 1950s lobbying to the powers that bested her to increase her military capacity from what the treaty permitted to "better fight the Phoney War", in addition to promoting a nuclear programme that focused on it as a power source rather than a weapon under the supervision of Community of Nation inspectors. Following a good 32 years in control of the presidency, in 1966 the Catholic Labour Union lost the presidency to the Social Democrats - under which homosexuality was decriminalised, abortion was legalised and divorce became much more acceptable and easier. Furthermore labour relations were repaired much more substantially than expected, causing workers unions to have too much power and bringing the country to a standstill economically. This was reversed under the Gaullican Conservatives in the the 70s and early 80s, only to be brought to its modern Sotirian Distributist mentality under the Socialists again in the 1980s. In 1989 Gaullica signed the treaty that ratified the Euclean Community and same-sex civil marriage became legal. In recent times, Gaullica has been at the forefront at the clashes between Althira and Asteria over ideological influences and has seen herself as a "third power" in the Northern Hemisphere, representing the idea of a Euclea independent of the vested interests of "foreign islands with little understanding as to how the continent works." She aims to mediate between the two whenever possible, for perhaps the fate of the world is at stake.

60 BC: Gaullica conquered by Solaris.
426 AD: Solarian Empire declared to continue in Verlois, later becomes "Verliquoian Empire" as a historical reference.
1407 AD: "Verliquoian Empire" dissolves and the "Kingdom of Gaullica" is officially reinstated as its successor, run by the same royal family.
1500s - 1800s: Gaullica fights wars with rival Eucleans, colonises this that and the other.
1800s: Drafts first constitution, creating a legislature independent of the king in that it is voted.
1900s: Massive economic shitstorm results in !Fascists being elected, Great War, aforementioned business, etc, etc.

General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Homosexuals, in the view of the Gaullican people, are perfectly normal as the rest of "us." They should be permitted to have civil marriages, but not religious ones, an have the rights to adopt. Homosexuality is not as taboo as one might think, but the views of divorce that are held so vehemently by the population as taboo have been placed onto homosexual couples as well.
General population's view on religions other than the primary one: The constitution promises secularism, but Solarian Catholicism always has a place in the state - even if it is behind the scenes or much less apparent now. Belief in other religions is fine, its accepted, primarily Atudaism. Other forms of sotirianity are viewed with interest but with suspicion, but there is no inherent hatred for those of different faiths.
General population's view on atheism: See above.
General population's view on abortion: It is legal but not "on-demand." People view abortion as taboo, but accept it in the case of extreme circumstances such as rape or the life of the mother being in danger.
View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): There is no issue, the Gaullican populace is wary to hold such views given their recent history and prejudice against the Marolevs.
Any big prejudices in your nation: Somewhat against the Amañeihiz, the Gordes less so; but this is becoming negligible (as both die out lmao).
View on immigration into country: Immigration solely depends as from where. The government is keen to attract low-skilled labour to continue to serve the interests of the economy due to the specialisation of the Gaullican workforce. Not openly said, but the views of the people seem to hail that migration from Gaullican "White Asteria" and other Euclean nations is much more preferable to migrants from Gaullican "Black Asteria" and the former Coian colonies.
Women's Rights: Granted the same rights as men by law and constitution. Same rights in every regard, but in the sense of "true equality" it has not yet been achieved in the political sphere - still dominated by men.
Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Tobacco is continuously being viewed as negative by the general populace, whilst marijuana is being seen more and more in the light (the government has legalised it and has placed its distribution, taxation etc, under state control.) You cannot get a Gaullican to view alcohol negatively.

National information
Official Name: Federal Republic of Valentir/République Fédérale de Valentir/Repupirita Hanga o Valentir
Shortened Name: Valentir
Requested Location: Heh
RP Population:
- 2017 Estimate: 53,432,576
- 2015 Census: 51,690,103
Culture: What we know today as Valentiri culture is the product of centuries of intermingling between Estmerish, Gaullican, Arateran, and immigrant influences. The diversity found in the country has fostered a strong belief in multiculturalism, a belief that is held with the utmost pride as the people celebrate the melting pot of cultures that is Valentir. While in the past the nation was indeed divided by culture and race, these cultures have come together to form a unique culture, a Valentiri culture, that has bound them to the Valentiri national identity. As a result the population is, overall, socially progressive, with even the most conservative members of society defending the rights of their fellow citizens. While abortion and gay marriage may be controversial topics around the world, they are near universally accepted as basic human rights in Valentir. Valentiri music, cuisine, literature, cinema, and sport are heavily influenced by the country's Euclean origins, but have slowly become more susceptible to influences from Coius and Asteria Inferior. The national attitude is, according to foreigners, "dark and cynical, with an unsettling amount of self-deprecation and kangaroo worship."
  • Ethnicity: The largest ethnicities are Gaullican (42.2%) and Estmerish (33.1%), followed by Arateran (8.2%), Coian (6.6%), Other Eucleans (4.0%), and Melanesian (3.0%).
  • Religion: Pelagianism, Solarian Catholicism, Protestantism, Te Haahi Ratana, Pai Marire
  • Languages: There is no official language at either the Federal or State level, but Gaullican and Estmerish are mandatory in school. The majority of the populace is bilingual. Other languages include Arateran and Melanesian, native languages spoken mainly by the various natives in Valentir. While it isn't mandatory Arateran and Melanesian are available to students nationwide.
Government Type: Federal semi-presidential republic
Head of State: President William Ashton III (NLP)
Head of Government: Prime Minister Ian Fairfax V (NLP)
National Overview: Valentir was founded in 1631 by a charter given to Valentin de Valema, a Gaullican explorer who discovered the island a year earlier. For almost 101 years Gaullica ruled the island, establishing friend relations with the natives and sending many immigrants. Gaullican rule did not least, however, and Valentir was annexed by Estmere in 1732. Under Estmerish rule the island became a semi-self governing commonwealth. Major influxes of immigrants from Euclea rapidly increased the population. Estmerish rule would last until 1819 when the Commonwealth Assembly negotiated independence with the Estmerish parliament. Since its independence Valentir has remained isolationist for most of its early history. This isolationist period was ended by the country's participation in the Great War on the side of the Entente under Jules Dufour. Eventually the country would change allegiances to the Democratic Alliance after Harold A. Cecil was elected in 1931. Since then Valentir has been an active member internationally and has become a strong regional power. The turmoil of the past has heavily influenced the current political climate of Valentir, which has become a four way tug of war between conservatives, labour, the national liberals, and the centre democrats.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Homosexuals are accepted members of society, no different from anyone else. Their sexual orientation has no effect on their rights, privileges, or opportunities. Same-sex marriage has been legal in Valentir since 1999, and same-sex couples have been able to adopt since 2001. Homosexuality has been almost universally accepted in Valentir, with even the most socially conservative members of society vowing to protect the rights of their fellow citizens.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: The population of Valentir is largely tolerant of other religious views. As stated in the constitution: "The right of any individual to worship whom they choose, or not worship at all, shall not be infringed," and indeed this is the general attitude found throughout the country.
  • General population's view on atheism: The right of an individual to not worship at all is their right and the tolerance for other religions extends to atheism as well.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is legal and protected under the laws of the republic. The general consensus among the population is that abortion is a protected individual right.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): The clashes between Melanesians and Euclean immigrants have been left in the past. One's ethnicity shouldn't be a barrier in life, and racial discrimination is rare.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation There are no major prejudices held in Valentir.
  • View on immigration into country: Immigration is seen in a positive light and there is no discrimination regarding where immigrants come from.
  • Women's Rights: Women are completely equal members of society under the Valentiri Constitution. Women are given the same rights, privileges, and opportunities in Valentiri society. Over the past few decades women have become major players in a number of different fields including politics, engineering, chemistry, law, economics, and the military.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:
Drug usage is broken down into two categories, Class A and Class B. Class A drugs are entirely legal, taxed, and regulated by the Federal government. Class A drugs include cannabis, LSD, and MDMA. Class B drugs are illegal and harsh punishments befall those who use them, including heavy fines and prison sentences. Class B drugs include amphetamines, cocaine, and opioids. Tobacco, like Class A drugs, is legal, taxed, and regulated, but is discouraged by the Federal government due to the negative effects on one's health. Tobacco companies must use generic labeling and are required by law to put the dangerous effects of their product in clear, bold font. Again, like Class A drugs, alcohol is legal, taxed, and regulated.

Other:
  • Factbook: http://iiwiki.com/wiki/Valentir
  • RP Preferences: Yes
  • RP Samples: This isn't necessary
  • Primary/Other NS Nations: Valentir
  • Any troubles with moderation? (If so, a link, please.): Of course not
  • Anything else?:

In the field of culinary, Negara hosts a huge variety of several different dishes, with fish and curry being prevalent along the coasts, rice dishes being prevalent in the inland provinces and goat and sheep being a staple in the mountains of the North and South.

  • Predominant Ideology of the Power: Negaran Republicanism
  • “Bloc Name”: Southern Coian Defense Initiative or SCDI which Negara has taken a lead role in
  • Foreign Policy Ambitions of the Power: The current policy for Negara is to contain Song at all costs, they are the number one enemy in the eyes of Negara and must be halted at all costs. Hynd and Fars are seen rather as another power present in the region though the growing power of the two has resulted in a recent alliance with Anhurvey that seeks to contain Fars and Hynd from expanding any further.
  • GDP Per Capita: (Nominal): $18,486 | (Nominal): $9.243 Trillion
  • Percentage of GDP spent on Military: 2.5%
  • Capability to Project Power: Various bases present on foreign soil, notably at Roun Island, in Anhurvey, and potentially in Nematsu. A large force of strategic nuclear warheads and the presence of a small nuclear submarine fleet combined with a few strategic bombers capable of carrying nukes. and the larger surface fleet.
  • History Post the Great War and a Summary of Previous Events:

    Pre-GW
4000 BC - 500 CE Rise of Ceram City States and Serongi Kingdoms
500 - Formation of the Serongi Empire
500 - 1200 - Serongi comes to dominate the Southern half of Modern day Negara
    1200 - Collapse of Serongi
1600 - Formation of the Berseri Empire
1890s - Negara Revolution and the beginning of the Berseri-Negaran War
1918 - Ceasefire called between the two powers
    GW
Total shitfest atm so I'm unsure what is happening in Couis during it
    Post-GW
Ree Song, Namkwon Emergency, Frontier War, and the Namkwon invasion of Siamat
As a result of the Southwest Frontier War the Negaran government was pushed towards reform. With the assistance of Asterian, and Valentiri economic advisors, Negara encouraged a greater degree of free trade in order to exploit its abundant labour: as a result of these free-market reforms, Negara entered a recovery period by the 1980s. The state remains heavily invested in "strategic" industries such as transport, energy production, education, and healthcare, but industry, agriculture, and services have largely been left to private enterprise.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: "What's a gay"
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Negarans are for the most apart are fine with other religions seeing as how they have a very diverse religious nation and though some extremists may clash, overall there is a live and let live mentality when it comes to the choice of religion of a person.
  • General population's view on atheism: Atheism isn't really prevalent in any sense of the word in Negara and its treated with more of a political aspect as many socialist parties within Negara encourage atheism among its members but even then many still follow their old beliefs regardless.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortions aren't technically outlawed nor are they condoned or conducted on a large scale, with it being seen as a taboo in the countryside many women in the major cities, or at least those who can afford one, get them if they feel they cannot carry the child to term.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): While Negarans generally aren't referred to by their race or ethnicity various nationalistic groups do, however any form of racism is highly frowned upon as a whole but still minor prejudices still exist across the nation and many Eucleans and Asterians who come to Negara may get a few odd stares.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation There is a large prejudice against those from Song regardless if they are a defector or not, this is mostly due to government propaganda and news outlets releasing misinformation about them, and now especially following the illegal occupation of parts of Siamat by Song and Namkwon
  • View on immigration into country: Immigration isn't really a big thing in Negara with most people rather leaving the nation, instead most immigration comes in the form of temporary refugees or defectors from Song or any other enemy of the State
  • Women's Rights: Women's rights are a large issue plaguing Negara currently, with many traditionalists attempting to maintain the role of women as a servant to men as was the case during the Berseri Empire, however many of the so called 'Northern Thinkers' believe that women should have the same rights as men. Though while women do have the same rights by law, many don't have the ability to act upon them and various government officials have maintained the traditionalists stance or have not interfered at all in the situation
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: All soft drugs are legal, as well as tobacco and alcohol are legal however any drugs that can be classified as hard with the exception of tobacco and alcohol are illegal. Population doesn't feel bothered though the casualties suffered on the civilian side as well as those police officers who have died trying to stop the flow of hard drugs has become a growing concern as well as the power various officials have been able to snag following the harder restrictions on drugs.

Official Name: Federation of Asteria
Shortened Name: The Federation, Asteria, FOA
Requested Location: Already figured out
RP Population: 215 million approx.
Culture: The Federation is a "melting pot" and of cultures, primarily those of Eastern Euclea. A multilingual country, with much of the population speaking any or all of the Three Majors (Estmerish, Gaullican, Vredlandian), the Federation is also dominated by said cultures - this being expressed through food, customs, architecture, among others.
  • Ethnicity: Estmerish remains the primary ethnic group within the Federation - closely followed by Gaullican, and then Vredlandian.
  • Religion: Protestantism is the most widely-practice religion in the Federation, with Catholicism behind it, and small amounts of Salam and the rising popularity of the Church of Valentir. However, Atheism has seen itself become more and more accepted across the country over the last two decades.
  • Languages: Due to the multilingual nature of the Federation, there is no Official Language - merely the Three Majors, which are as follows: Estmerish, Gaullican, and Vredlandian.
Government Type: Federal Constitutional Representative Republic
Head of State: President Benjamin Avery
Head of Government: President Benjamin Avery

Major Power Status:
  • Predominant Ideology of the Power: Democracy, I guess? Capitalism?
  • “Bloc Name”: The Joint Defense Force (JDF) and another, soon to be named, body that deals in economic issues.
  • Foreign Policy Ambitions of the Power: National Security of itself and allies, protection of foreign interests, protection and long-term success of Democracy.
  • GDP Per Capita: $49,640
  • Percentage of GDP spent on Military: 2.9%
  • Capability to Project Power: Not only does the Federation maintain one of the most advanced armed forces on the planet, they maintain bases in all JDF countries and *possibly* in foreign allies as well.

History:

The region now primarily consisting of the State "Eaglen" was originally settled by Gaylic settlers as early as 1620, during an age where Asteria Superior was dominated by Gaullica. Estmerish colonies would be established throughout the rest of the century, spanning from the state of New Estmere to Dixon - both bordering Gaullican colonies. Throughout this time, the region now referred to as the "Asterian Colonies" saw a massive influx of new settlers - primarily Vredlandians - as the Guilded Wars engulfed Euclea. Long before the idea of independence had touched the hearts of Asterian settlers, the Colonies were a "melting pot" of Euclean cultures. However, the long-standing tensions with the Gaullican colonies of Senouillac and Roeselle, which were predominantly Catholic, were a constant threat to the mainly-Protestant Asterian settlers, and the powder keg in Euclea only added to the ominous belief that war would erupt. It did, as it had before, with the Third Guilded War seeing Gaullican Armies sweep through the Asterian Colonies in 1704, forcing the capitulation of Estmerish and Glytteronian colonial leaders and their armies in the Battle of New Haven. Both Glytter and Estmere lost all claims over the Asterian colonies, and they would fall under the leadership of the Gaullican crown.

The settlers did not take this change of leadership lightly. Harsh taxes designed to rebuild the cities Gaullican armies destroyed drained the colonies of every cent they had to offer, and Gaullican Catholics shoved down the Protestant majority every chance they could - violating the promise of religious freedom that so many had come to the Asterian Colonies to pursue. As the 1720s arrived, the settlers began retaliating - creating underground networks of agents and informants, and often times, attacking Gaullicans directly. In 1727, a popular uprising in Brock overthrew the Gaullican garrison located in the city - publicly executing the Gaullican-appointed Mayor. This group referred to themselves as "Asterian Patriots", the first time that colonists referred to themselves as "Asterian" - for these men and women, Asteria was their homeland - not Gaullica, not Glytter, no Estmere, nor Vredlandia. The name stuck, and from then on, those opposing the Gaullican crown referred to themselves as "Asterian" - an action that infuriated their rulers, who viewed it as an insult. The Asterian Patriots maintained control of Brock for a week before the Gaullican Army encircled and besieged the city for two grueling months, until the mass starvation pushed the Patriots to surrender - it's leadership facing execution. However, Brock set a precedent for Patriots across the Colonies - fight, and never stop. The Patriot Movement, as it was called, became increasingly organized throughout the 1730s and 40s despite Gaullican efforts to suppress it.

By the early 1760s, the situation in the Gaullican-controlled Asterian colonies had developed into a powder keg - Patriots organizing themselves into bands of milita that stockpiled illegal firearms that were acquired by ambushing Gaullican soldiers transporting supplies. Gaullican laws like the Royal Courting Act, which required Asterians to provide housing, food, and basic necessities at their expense for Gaullican soldiers - and the general brutality of Gaullica's forces towards the local population, further drove a wedge between the Government in Euclea and the "troubled colonies", as the King called them. These factors all added up to what is today regarded as the "Shout heard 'round the World" in 1764. On July 21st, Gaullican soldiers under the command of General Albert Cormier marched on a compound located in the slums of Brock, where it was suspected that Patriots had been stockpiling weapons & stolen military intelligence. During their approach, they were confronted by four armed men who demanded they turn around. General Cormier himself had approached to speak with the man in charge, an Asterian Patriot named Karl Reiner, demanding their surrender. Reiner then yelled a shout known as the "Patriot Yell" before stabbing the Gaullican general in the stomach - later leading to his death. Patriots and Gaullican Regulars engaged, but the Asterians' use of houses and alleys as ambush points led to massive casualties on the Gaullican side, and they would retreat to Fort Sardou - today Fort Sardon. This was the start of the Asterian War of Independence.

Led by General Perseus Liber, the "Patriot Army" would fight a long a grueling war against Gaullica. The signing of the Independence Decree on April 11th of 1766 drove the Patriots to fight ever onward, with thousands answering the call. The Gaullican Army was successful initially, but as the Patriot Army adapted guerrilla tactics based on the teaches of Song military leaders, the most powerful Army in the world was brought to it's knees. The Battle of Kingston between June 10th and 15th in 1771 led to the surrender of the last standing Gaullican army in the Asterian Colonies, and the "Treaty of Verlois" saw the Federation be officially recognized as an independent country by Gaullica. The Constitution of the Federation of Asteria was created and signed in 1775, with Gaullica handing over large chunks of inland territories as part of the Treaty in 1776.

Over the next century, the Federation would grow and change - evolving from an infant nation to a trade and industrial power. Accepting millions upon millions of immigrants from across the world, including tens of thousands of Natives fleeing Senouillac. The Roessan-Asterian War (1840 - 1847) was Asteria's first great test of survival, with the Federation achieving a hard-fought victory. The Federation would go on to abolish slavery in 1869, as the Industrial Revolution became ever more prominent, and as the 20th Century arrived, Asteria was one of the most powerful industrial nations of the world. That is, until the Civil War. Many factors led to the brutal Civil War that led to the deaths of over 2.1 million Asterians - most of which were soldiers killed in the brutal trench warfare that divided the country like a massive scar. It ended in Federal victory - preserving the Federation - but contributed to the biggest economic disaster in Human history: the Great Depression. At it's height, 1 in 4 were jobless, hundreds of thousands were homeless - it was a global disaster that would fuel the rise of Fascism. As a result, the Great War would break out in 1926, with the Federation remaining neutral - not ready for such a fight. However, they were slowly pulled towards the destructive conflict as Estmere asked the Federation to replace them as the occupational force of Glytter - an unpopular move back home, and in Glytter. Federal occupation of Glytter would lead to the Quasi-War (1928 - 1935), as well as lead to Gaullica's attack on Asterian forces at Saint Mary's Harbor, in Caipitilbonn. The Federation entered the Great War. The Federation had, with the support of the Democratic Alliance, forced the Entente from Badawiya, invaded and defeated Caesena, and brought about the surrender of Fascist Gaullica. Borders were redrawn, the Federation rebuild Gaullica into a Democracy, and would provide relief to war-torn Euclea. With the Great War having turned the Federation into the single largest industrial power on the planet, the Federation spent many years ensuring peace was maintained in Euclea, before fully retracting their military presence in 1961 - no longer wishing to intervene in Euclean affairs, and adapting a more isolationist foreign policy.

The Federation maintained it's ties with Gaullica and other Euclean nations, but focused on it's on sphere: the Asteria's. The Joint Defense Force (JDF) would see to the defense of the Asterias, while the Mutual Economic Council (MEC) helping to speed up the process of industrialization for the Federation's allies. As the 21st Century arrived, the Federation remained a major power in the world, though it found it's once-mighty industry slowly fading. The new century brought a new wave of problems to the Asterian people, mainly the War on Drugs, which led the Federation to intervene with full military force in Marirana, a JDF member-state fighting against a brutal insurgency that is credited with the manufacture and sale of opioids and cocaine. It's a conflict the Federation is still involved in, but it has not deterred the Asterian Spirit - only strengthened it. Asteria remains a major cultural and economic influence in Kylaris, especially as it's richest nation, and is even today regarded as a "Land of Opportunity."

"Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: "Keep it to yourself" attitude - Asterians commonly believe that anyone can retain any sexual preference they choose, but tend not to like when people try to force these preferences onto others, and find that "Gay Pride" is a rather silly idea, in the same fashion that they find racial pride to be silly. The Federation has no Laws regarding Transgender use of bathrooms, as the Government Trans Rights as legitimate Civil Rights, nor are "multiple genders or sexualities" accepted as legitimate by the Government or general populace.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Asterians are very accepting of those who do not follow the same religion as themselves, but since the majority of the population is either Protestant or Catholic, there is rarely a clash in regards to faith itself, but rather the expression of the same faith.
  • General population's view on atheism: A small number of Asterians are openly Atheist - most prominently members of the science community - and while some religious Asterians denounce Atheism, many others see no issue in the beliefs of another citizen.
  • General population's view on abortion: Being a very Conservative people, Asterians most-usually agree that abortion is wrong, in most cases. Federal Law makes having an abortion extremely difficult unless it either was a result of rape, incest, or threatens a woman's life. The Government instead promotes the use of contraceptives to prevent pregnancy from ever happening in the first place, unless desired by the woman in question.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): The Federation is a predominantly-white country, with historical clashes with the black population (especially during the age of slavery), but Asterians often see the title of "Asterian" to be more important than race, religion, or creed.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation Many Asterians are "wary" of Salamic and Badawiyan folk. Also, while not a modern issue, Asterians are infamous for the genocide carried out against Native Asterians in which 95% of the population of Natives within present-day Asterian borders were killed.
  • View on immigration into country: The Federation welcomes immigrants from all across the world, so long as it is done legally in accordance to the Federation's laws. Those who are caught entering the country illegally, or are found to have been living in the country illegally, are most often deported.
  • Women's Rights: Men and Women are completely equal in the eyes of the Federal Government.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:
  • Tobacco - While once very huge in the Federation, the tobacco industry has been dying since the 1990s. Anti-tobacco advertisements and intense Government taxation of the sale of tobacco, and the type that can be sold, has made it more and more unpopular. That, added with the creation of vapor devices and E-Cigarettes, contributes to the falling-out of the once-massive industry.
  • Alcohol - A very widely-used substance among Asterians, both in religious and recreational events. Children as young as 7 are allowed to consume very limited amounts of alcohol during religious services, but the Federation has strict laws on recreational use. Asterians must be 16 to consume beer, and 18 to consume wine and liquor.
  • Marijuana - Legal for recreational use in all 12 states since 2015.
  • Cocaine, Methamphetamine, Heroin, etc. - Under Federal Law, the manufacture and sale of any of these (and similar) substances is illegal. Opium, the primary agent in Heroin, is used for medical use as painkillers by prescription only.

National information
Official Name: Qarazqalqiiq Degagnopivuq Taxiilaraaq
Shortened Name: Qaalaqiiq
Requested Location: Near Waz
RP Population: 50 mil?
Culture: The culture of Qaalaqiiq stems from Paleoeuclean traditions. They have well adapted to their cold climate filled with wetlands and many barrier islands. Despite modernization, a significant amount of the population remains rural, and traditional art and crafts represent a very important aspect of culture. One such example is the art of boneworking. Bone tools, used into the Middle Ages until iron was adopted in steady supply from neighbors and traders, are considered a great art and culturally unique practice. Recorded history indicates that these tools were, in times past, heavily decorated with engravings, paint, and physical decorations such as feathers, different styles and shapes, and color. Although the iron age had come and gone, these decorated bone tools are considered a sacred art and continue use in ceremony, as well as in practical situations in rural regions. Look, I could go on all day about this sort of stuff, but it's better to show, not tell.
  • Ethnicity: The primary ethnicity would the the indigenous people, however within the cities a presence of Marolevs is also present.
  • Religion: The dominant religion in traditional belief, though syncretism and Sotirian sects have both bled into the country over the centuries.
  • Languages: The dominant language is, of course, the indigenous one. There are a few dialects that some consider distinct languages, however these are intelligible. For certain purposes, Marolev languages play a role as well, especially in immigrant communities and in Sotirian services.
Government Type: Monarchy with tribal democratic overtones- there are present democratically elected leaders in both urban and rural areas, but the advent of hereditary leadership when tribal communities grew to a large enough size has retained its distinct societal role as well.
Head of State: the monarch whose name I shall finalize later
Head of Government: ditto
National Overview: Qaalaqiiq is a land filled with tradition- ones that are unknown to the histories of much of Euclea. A strange little pocket at the edge of the continent, they have a uniqueness in their own right. It is this uniqueness that they seek to preserve in the face of appropriation and assimilation elsewhere on the continent. A primarily urban people, the natives have adapted their ways to the modern world. However, a significant rural populace remains between small villages and protected reservations, and the ways of the past are strong among them. Killings over blood feuds and honor are reported from the hinterlands of the country, and the government, while officially denouncing such practices, seems to take little action to stop them. Somewhat tribalistic, they are wary of most outsiders, however they understand the necessity of the modern world- thus, their tactic is to "proceed with caution". A strange ideology mixes here, between individualism and collectivism, traditionalist yet progressive, this is the perplexing situation faced by those within. In this society, each individual is noted as such, with their own prestige, their own actions, their own responsibilities, and their own glory. However, they are also recognized as part of a greater community- in a sense a type of tribalism in that people see their community strongly without necessarily seeing it as a unity. Their traditional views, being based in pagan legends of yore and culture unlike that of much of Euclea, breeds a different meaning to the word "traditional", one with a mixed bag of what truly constitutes tradition.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Homosexuality, or non-conforming individuals, are seen without great disgrace by the Qaalaqiiq communities. In traditional belief, several things could be used to mark a shaman, notably deformities but also certain personality traits that indicate non-normative behavior. Homosexuality, while not among these traits, was nonetheless accepted in old society, and the people of Qaalaqiiq hold more libertine views on sexual behavior- though they still note that a commoner should hold but a single lover.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: The general population is wary of foreign beliefs in their lands. In the past, a great revolt was held against Marolev overlords attempting to root Sotirian belief in the populace. Although the revolt was an ultimate failure, it would forever change the dynamic between the natives and their neighbors. Sotirian practice has a following in modern Qaalaqiiq, however the numbers they experience in the modern day are a phenomenon originating from Marolev migrants to the region and the small followings they would gather. Although they claim kinship with the greater churches of Euclea, they are not properly in communion and each assembly tends to preach its own, sometimes syncretic, messages.
  • General population's view on atheism: Atheism is not widespread among the populace. It exists, but rather than spite, it is most often met with a baffled response of confusion. Traditional animistic and shamanistic beliefs make the denial of the natural world quite difficult, and traditional faith often bleeds into popular ethno-national philosophy.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is a very mixed affair in the country. While legal, it is typically reserved for rare occasions. The people do not see it as a form of murder, however, they do note the "lost possibility" when such a thing becomes- that is to say, what the child could've been and become, and for this they mourn despite no official 'death' occurring.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): The natives are generally wary of other peoples, and it is difficult for others to blend in. The natives hold a distinct appearance typically unmatched by other Eucleans, though some Coians and certain Asterians might be able to blend better. Whereas xenophobia in the sense of fear rather than hate is somewhat common, there's also a morbid fascination with outsiders. In practice, though, the Lotaliki and certain Marolev groups, still known by their ancient tribal names to the natives, have earned their respect over the centuries of close proximity.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation Generally against "outsiders" other than certain groups from the Hetmanate, as well as against evangelicals. The Sotirian communities within Qaalaqiiq are primarily self-contained and do not actively seek to spread for this reason.
  • View on immigration into country: Immigration is generally seen negatively, with a tribalistic viewpoint. While immigrant communities do exist, much of these communities originated from a time when Qaalaqiiq was under the rule of another lord, and so immigrants into the country generally fall into these communities from where they will be seen, in a cultural context, as more acceptable by the wider native community.
  • Women's Rights: Women have always been given a somewhat egalitarian position in society. As the traditional homemakers, they are given significant respect. Ancient legends of women hosting great hunts, assaulting rival tribes, and leading valiant defenses are well known throughout the land. Also generally seen as the bearers of family, it was said by medieval writers that the women of the villages had to be consulted for every action taken. Several female chieftains are listed throughout history.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Drugs are given an odd stance. Certain drugs and toxins native to the area are considered national heritage and, for special occasions, are used in ritual. 'Soft' drugs are given legality but have a stigma attached to them, equivalent to that of smoking experienced by more well-known countries. 'Hard' drugs experience a similar divide- newer ones created from a lab or from far away lands are generally banned, whereas select warriors in the past were known to use certain drugs to bolster their own strength and ability on the field of battle.

National information
Official Name: Union of Senoul, Monbec, and Illaca|Union de Senoul, Monbec et Illaca
Shortened Name: Senouillac, Senouillacan Union|L'Union Senouillac,
Requested Location: N/A
RP Population: - 2017 Estimate: 77,528,724 -->.95% to 1.13% growth rate
Culture: Quebec provides some inspiration
  • Ethnicity: Gaullican is the dominant ethnic group, composing a little under 90% of the nation. Monbequois, Illacan, and Althiran form the next largest groups, at a little over 2% each. Nukati and Hoopei are the largest surviving native asterian groups. Sveltic, Wazovian, and Gordesian have several communities present.
  • Religion: The Solarian Catholic Church is the largest and dominant religion in the country. It is recognized as the State Religion. All citizens pay a Moral Society Tax that goes to the church's coffers. There's are several small minority sotiran branches.
  • Languages: Gaullican is the official language. Monbequois is a spoken widely in Monbec, but has no special status.
Government Type: Unitary Semi-Presidential Constitutional Republic
Head of State: President(Interim) Charles de Gael(CLP)
Head of Government: Prime Minister Prime Minister Vivienne Saint-Simmons(SSDC)
National Overview: Senouillac is a very religious inspired society. The Church plays a big part in the days of everyday citizens and the largest political party is the church affiliated Catholic Labor Party. Martellian Distributism is the ideology of the state and most citizens. As a whole, Senouillac is semi-protectionist and pro-small and medium businesses. It is intolerant of trusts and mega-corporations. Senouillacans view Gaullican culture as the pinnacle of civilization and as such look down on other groups. There are media laws that mandate 83.5% of all broadcasted content must be in Gaullican. Economically, Senouillac believes that every citizen is entitled to an equal share of the means of production in order to provide for themselves and their progeny. More to be added later.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people:Gay people are entitled to Civil Unions recognized and performed by the State. They are not entitled to Religious Marriages. Civil Unions bear all the same privileges as marriage except for child-birth incentives.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Sotiran branches are accepted, if at times considered odd. Most people view religions like the Monbequois Sacramental Church or Hoopei Associated Congregations as different, somewhat off paths to Heaven. Non-Sotiran yet Adamite religions are seen as misguided but also largely accepted. There is no widespread anti-Salam sentimentality, rather it's general anti-nonSotiran. Pagan religions are usually not seen as actual religions and generally not given recognition by the state. The Moral Society Tax is not levied on non-Catholics, instead an equivalent tax that is paid to COMO is levied.
  • General population's view on atheism: Atheism is not recognized by the state.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is only allowed when the child is a product of incest or rape, or when considered a medical necessity.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Coians are seen as industrious if lacking in creativity while Bahians and Native Asterians are seen as more crude than Eucleans. Urban areas are more accepting of other races. Native Asterian groups are divided into two groups, Frères de la société and Indésirables. These are natives that embraced Gaullican culture and those that did not respectively. Indésirables are scorned by society.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation
  • View on immigration into country: Immigration is prioritized from Gaullican-speaking Sotiran communities. Althiran and Wazovia immigration is also common and accepted, despite theological differences. Immigration from Bahia and Coius is limited to the Sotirans and creme-de-le-creme of their young, educated populations. Senouillac does operate a massive refugee program and path to citizenship program, Coeurs Ouverts, Maisons Ouvertes(COMO)(Open Hearts, Open Homes) that resettles refugees from other nations in Senouillac. It has been criticized for the work-camp nature of some of the requirements for citizenship and for its indoctrination-like courses, but also lauded for the sheer number of refugees it takes in.
  • Women's Rights: Equal Citizens in the Union, Equal Children under God
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:
Tobacco: Use has diminished due to health concerns, legal 17 and over
Alcohol: Legal 14 and over for purchase, society views its consumption as normal but also heavily discourages excessive drinking. Wine and Vodka are the main drinks, followed by Ciders
Marijuana: Legal 17 and over for limited recreational use, Legal 4 and over for medical use
Opiates: Heavily Regulated
Shrooms: Banned in all forms

Hyndana Application

Official Name: The Imperial Confederacy of Hyndana
Shortened Name: Hyndana
Requested Location: Former Hyndanan lands
RP Population: 654,782,194
Culture: Hyndanan culture is family oriented with a focus on seniority. This is because of Hyndana's farming communities of the past that extended throughout the whole country. As integration took place in the territory family-nucleus was an important unifying factor. Religion has also played an important role in shaping the culture of the country. Some cuisine and family traditions were imported from religious traditions. As time went on and religion became less and less prominent in society, these cuisine/family traditions remained in place.
Ethnicity: Hyndana is an ethnically-diverse country having approximately 10 different ethnic groups.
Religion: The government has no official religion. It is a secular form of government.
Languages: Hyndi, Estmerish, others
Government Type: Although a confederacy in name, it is a federation in practice. Each state is headed by a prince, princess or a Jagir who either holds absolute power, shares power with an assembly or is simply a figure-head. At the national level, an emperor shares power with a parliament and a court system. The supreme court is composed of 15 justices: 5 for the civil court, 5 for criminal court and 5 for a constitutional court. The parliament is a bicameral: A Chamber of Deputies (elected by the higher classes through popular vote) and a Senate.
Head of State: Emperor of the Confederacy
Head of Government: Emperor of the Confederacy
Major Power Status: Great Power/Superpower
Predominant Ideology of the Power: Decentralized Imperial Constitutionalism
“Bloc Name”: Coian League
Foreign Policy Ambitions of the Power: To contain Negeran power and to gain more influence in the continent. In the long-term, the country aims at becoming the hegemonic power of the continent. Moreover, the country aims at becoming the financial and economic center of the continent as well as the cultural and diplomatic door to the rest of the world.
GDP Per Capita: $7,500 (USD$$4,910.866,455,000)
Percentage of GDP spent on Military: 2% of GDP
Capability to Project Power: Aside from the Coian League, the country has aircraft carriers, overseas bases, nuclear armament, one of the largest economies and populations in the world. Also, it has one of the largest armed forces in the continent.
History Post the Great War and a Summary of Previous Events: The beginning of Hyndana was a collection of dozens of warring states aiming to control as much land as possible. The idea of a unified Hyndana did not exist at that moment. The most compelling reasons for expansion were the acquisition of more personal wealth, the spread of their own religions and/or the acquisition of new resources not available to them. This meant that at the end, no state grew much beyond its borders before collapsing to a wave of predators looking to hunt the big fish. This rudimentary and chaotic environment continued up until the 1100s. In that century, the brilliant general and Jagir of the Warring State of Jalandhar, Prakash Rajiv Raisina, began an almost unstoppable campaign. A genius in power politics, he played alliances and natural disasters to his advantage. Eventually he successfully conquered most of Hyndana before dying of pneumonia in a military campaign. His successors continued his campaigns eventually expanding the empire to current-day countries such as Phula and Fars. Most importantly, the charismatic personally of Raisina and his administration planted the seeds for the idea of Hyndana as a unified state. The empire constructed many of the palaces, gardens and fortresses found today in Hyndana and which have become a cultural treasure to the country. A renaissance in the sciences and arts was also seen during this period. For the first time in the territory's history, there was a unified road network, complex irrigation systems, city planning and specialization of regions. Additionally, the empire started a policy of economic expansion both at home and abroad. Hyndanan diplomats traveled to other countries near and far seeking treaty ports, preferable trade rights and new markets to sell Hyndanan products.

However, as the empire enjoyed wealth and success corruption began to take root within its growing bureaucracy. Eventually, with insurgencies, corruption, inefficiency, and expensive conquest campaigns to the south and west, the First Hyndanan Empire collapsed in the early 16th century. The collapse did not lead to the same chaotic setting from before the 12th century. Instead, new states were formed based roughly on administrative regions created by the fallen empire. Through the centuries of imperial control, these administrative regions reinforced certain political customs, religious beliefs and culture favored by the governors of those regions. The empire's collapse opened a window of opportunity for the incoming wave of colonialism and exploration from Euclean countries. These new princely states began to fall to Eucleans spheres of influence. The ideas of a modern bureaucracy and other political ideas from the Modern Age began to entered the political debate of the individual states. Clashes between these princely states were constant and just like before alliances, disasters and now Euclean allies played a major role in Hyndanan politics.

From the new political ideas from Euclean states came the conception of the modern Nation-State that, along with the lasting impact of General Raisina, made the Hyndanans realize the need for further cooperation and diplomatic talk in a permanent forum. After a century and half of Euclean meddling, the Hyndanan states created a confederacy. Although the official treaty signed in 1650 created the confederacy that would eventually evolved to the current Hyndanan government, at the time it was still loose organization often frozen by interstate tensions and Euclean meddling. Since its inception the confederacy elected an emperor. The first emperor was Shujat I and was merely a figurehead to represent the confederacy. After Shujat I's death, a new emperor would be elected from among the princes and Jagirs of the union. Usually, the richest and most influential states would be able to pull enough political capital to gain the sufficient votes. Shujat I, for instance,
was the Jagir of Lalpur, a princely city-state that was under the influence of Inuk. The city developed and grew rich over the decades becoming one of the most influential in the confederacy. Initially, the capital of this confederacy would move to the capital of the princely state's leader that was elected. Eventually this created a rift among the least influential states who could not compete to gain the imperial city. As a result a compromise came about, Jalandhar was declared permanent capital of the union honoring General Raisina's successful unification a few centuries back.

The creation of a permanent capital cemented a new step towards unification. Funds from all princely states, but specially from the 5 most influential and richest,
were collected to build an imperial palace and other administrative buildings. Even then, the emperor was severely limited and dependent on the will of the princely states. But the new imperial city, not tied to the will of a single prince or a Jagir, created an artificial isolation between the respective princely states and the emperor. No longer was the Confederate Emperor running a princely state and merely holding some honorary title simultaneously. Instead, the emperor concerned himself with the obstacles that prevented him from governing as an actual emperor, the states were from the top of the hill (his perspective) below the prestige of the imperial seat. Without any major control or authority over the confederation, the need to acquire more power became the personal goal of the emperors of the time.

The need to resolve interstate tensions more efficiently and the cultural tendency towards further unification along with foreign military pressures and declining Euclean influence, led to the further centralization of power. The interest of the Hyndanan emperors of the time to increase their power only compounded this process. Ultimately, the system originally designed by the princely states had a flaw that eventually, after needed reforms, controversies, and compromises, led to the birth of the current nation.

The move towards a more centralized state was not smooth, however. As more responsibilities and power began to fall on the Imperial Seat, tensions grew among princely states. These tensions would continue to buildup until some major event eventually exploded it into a crisis that required compromises and the addition of newer articles to the existing charter (created by the Treaty of 1650). An example of this cycle, which led to the solidification of the Imperial Family, occurred in 1759 when the Emperor decreed that the Imperial Crown could only be inherited and not elected. This, predictably created a crisis in the confederation. The different princes and Jagirs accused the emperor of wanting to monopolize power and create an absolute monarchy. The confederacy almost breaks apart with the facing off of armies pro and against the emperor. Among the 5 most powerful princely states, Ambedkar (the state whose previous ruler was the current emperor) and its ally faced against the other 3 states in a brief quasi civil war. After 3 and a half years of fighting, the troops in favor of the emperor were close to victory. However, in the decisive Battle of Jalpur, their armies were decimated by an ingenious defense of the city-state. The apparent stalemate forced the emperor's armies to negotiate peace. The treaty that came afterwards created the upper house of parliament in which each princely state would be represented and have legislative powers, and a long-term agreement in which the royal family would be allowed to have a hereditary crown as long as it married into a different princely family each generation.

The lower house of parliament was created almost two centuries later when the Enlightenment ideals from Euclea were exported to the country. This lower house has a proportional representation system in which the upper classes are the only ones allowed to vote. At the turn of the 20th century, the country began to see the first industrial centers. These mostly centered around satisfying the demand of the richer classes. During the Great War, Hyndana remained neutral and never joined the fight. However, the fighting in the continent prompted the government to invest in a nation-wide rail network. This network served as a basis for the industrialization of the country that started in the 1970s. This also coincided with Hyndana's first nuclear arms programs which would, a few decades later, make the country a nuclear power. In the 1980s, the industrialization rate really took off and the country experienced high levels of growth that have mostly remained up until today. The aging rail network, however, was an obstacle which brought a short pause to the industrialization in the late 1990s. To offset this, the government began a new era of rail modernization.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Although the LGTB community is not persecuted or same-sex sexual acts are not criminalized, the union between two individuals of the same-sex is not recognized by the confederacy.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Due to Hyndana's diverse religious composition, there's no conflict where the larger religious group persecutes the smaller.
  • General population's view on atheism: Atheism is not recognized by the state.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is only allowed in cases of rape. All other reasons for abortion are still not yer legal.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Considering Hyndana is ethnically diverse, there is no government policy against one specific race/ethnicity.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation
  • View on immigration into country: The more developed and/or the coastal states tend to be more open towards immigration. Poorer states tend to be less welcoming of immigrants. As a result of princely state individual policy, the country sees more immigration in certain regions than in others.
  • Women's Rights: Legally speaking there is no difference between a man and a woman. Both can vote, run for office, participate in politics, work, drive, etc. Culturally speaking, in the country-side regions, women are still seen through the traditional domestic lenses.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Marijuana is legal on a medical basis, country-wide. Full legalization has been left to the states where some have fully legalized it and others have kept the minimum legal bar set forth by the confederacy.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Despite the wide variety of differing religions and ethnicity the general consensus in Ostrožská is that homosexuals deserve the same rights and freedoms as any other individual. Fringe conservative elements believe that while they deserve the same human dignity as heterosexuals, same-sex marriage threatens the sanctity of religious marriages. Despite this same-sex marriage has been legal since 2005.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: The wide array of faiths in Ostrozska has led to a practice of secularism and tolerance of other faiths and viewpoints.
  • General population's view on atheism: While there has been some tension between religious figures and atheists, the population at large is generally tolerant of atheism.
  • General population's view on abortion: Abortion is legal and available on demand at any government clinic. This has caused some controversy with the more conservative side of the population. Attempts to alter abortion laws are common from the Sotirian Democratic Union Party. Generally however it is tolerated at large, but is considered a private matter and therefore rarely spoken about.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): As with religion, tolerance of different ethnicities is the common practice in Ostrozska. It is socially and legally unacceptable to practice discrimination of any kind.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: Ostrozskans are known for having a mild dislike of the people of the Asterias, which is a result of the differing viewpoints and actions of various Asterian countries. Likewise Ostrozskans are wary of people hailing from countries under the boot of authoritarianism.
  • View on immigration into country: Ostrozska is, for the most, very welcoming of immigrants and does not bare entry based into the country based on where immigrants hail from, though it is preferred that immigrants come from countries where the culture is more adaptable to ease the process of assimilation.
  • Women's Rights: Free and equal members of society who have just as much to offer as men.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:
Tobacco usage has hit record lows in Ostrozska as health concerns turn the younger generation away from smoking. Alcohol is consumed in copious amounts and is available from the age of 14. Soft drugs such as marijuana are legal, taxed, and regulated by the government. Heroin and similar drugs are illegal and jail sentences vary on a case by case basis.

National information
Official Name: The Federation of Fars (spoiler alert: its not really a federation)
Shortened Name: Fars
Requested Location: here
RP Population: 68.5 million people
Culture: The culture is mainly based off of Iran with influences of Afghanistan and Yemen (I plan on using Sana'a old town) but the major differences from Iran being that it is still Zoroastrian, or Mazdaic. This means that while it has a similar architectural style, art, food etc to Iran, there are so major differences. Homosexual sex and affairs are common and socially acceptable, in fact there has been no prohibition against gay sex in Farsi history for as long as Mazdaism has been the dominant religious and cultural force. However marriage is still often seen as between a man and a woman for the purpose of procreation, although gay marriage was legalised in 2016. Respect for the past also plays a large part in Farsi culture, being one of the oldest civilisations on the planet and at many times being one of the planet's most powerful countries many people look back to Farsi history as a golden time of civilisation and stability. To a lesser extent Farsi culture has been influenced by Cooperativism following the 1968 August Revolution although much of this influence has been squeezed out following the subsequent Bonapartist coup. Another notable tenant of Farsi culture is a severe dislike of Anhurvey and Anhurvish influence following almost 600 years of on-and-off warfare between the two states.
  • Ethnicity:
    • Farsi: 85% [58.2 million]
    • Darshi: 7% [4.79 million]
    • Hyndic: 5% [3.4 million]
    • Other: 2% [1.37 million]
  • Religion:
    • Mazdaic: 91.75% [62.8 million]
    • Other/None: 8.25% [5.7 million]
  • Languages: Farsi is the dominant language in Fars and has been pushed by the Farsi government as a unifying tool since the Gurham Dynasty started a process of modernisation in the early 20th century. However recently under pressure from the CoN to preserve unique cultures some dialects of the Farsi language such as Darrehian Farsi and Qurgham Farsi have been preserved. However Farsi remains the only nationally recognised language however it is thought up to 10% of people speak another language, generally Darshi, at home.
Government Type: Officially a Federation, founded on the Theoretical Izadic belief the closer power is to the people the more representative it is, but de-facto after 47 years of Pragmatic Izadism the state functions as a Unitary Parliamentary Republic (using the Westminster system). Note: The roles of HoS and HoG are combined in the Premier who is the leader of the largest party, imagine the UK if the PM was also HoS. Fars is officially a federal republic with a unicameral legislature running off the Westminster system in which the Premier is the leader of the largest party in the National Assembly. The Premier is the head of the executive and legislative branches of government and takes their mandate from elections held every 5 years. While this seems democratic, in reality Fars is far from a pure democracy. Only 3 parties are legally allowed in Parliament as per the 5th Ammendment, although since 2012 independent representatives have been allowed to take seats. As well as this the military, and especially the Pasdaran has a large amount of power and will often intervene to counter measures which could decrease their power. Officially the Pasdaran is the only armed force allowed in to Susa.
Head of State: Premier Pasha Alavi
Head of Government: Premier Pasha Alavi
National Overview: the state's ideology is Pragmatic Izadism, a belief system developed over the 45 years or so since the Silent Coup of 1970 in which the Pasdaran (Revolutionary Guard) took power from the revolutionary government which in turn had come to power following the 1968 August Revolution. Pragmatic Izadism is officially a re-working of Theoretical Izadism (an ideology based off Cooperativism ), designed to make a functional system to govern by and to protect Fars. However really Pragmatic Izadism was developed over time in order to keep the military elite in power. Most Farsi of the older generation do not take an active role in politics and follow an age old system of "protect us and give us a comfortable life and we will ignore you", and many who remember either the days of the Shah, the post-revolution or the initial years of Pragmatic Izadism believe that Fars has reached a peaceful and prosperous place. However many in the younger generation who have increased access to Eastern media have been taking a more active role in politics, as seen by the rise of Premier Charles Hammond in the early 2010s.

Social views:
    • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: The vast majority of people have no problem with same sex sex and it has long been a part of Farsi culture for men and women to take lovers of the same gender. However marrying someone of the same sex is a newer idea and less accepted, especially by the rural population many of whom support "traditional" values.
    • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Fars is incredibly religiously homogeneous and while an increasing number of young people and urbanites are not devout Mazdaic's, they still adhere to Mazdaic customs. Thus religious minorities, especially Tristinic Mazdaics are looked down upon by a large swathe of the population and are often stereotyped as untrustworthy and sneaky (think early 20th century depiction of Jews in central/eastern Europe). Persecution of Tristinic Mazdaics is not official but is common
    • General population's view on atheism: Generally ignored by most people and face no real persecution aside from being misunderstood, however it is slowly growing and is not faced with the same persecution as Tristinic Mazdaism
    • General population's view on abortion: Most of the population (read: Mazdaics) would be considered pro-life, however abortion is no illegal. Abortion for social or economic reasons would be looked down upon, however most people would see it as a necessary evil if the mother's life was in danger of if the pregnancy was a result of rape
    • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): On the whole, most other races and religions are greeted with a kind of befuddlement. Farsi culture is very welcoming so they would rarely question a foreigner on their beliefs or ethnic background but would probably be internally curious and perhaps weary at first. However the general population is very suspicious of Tristinic Mazdaism and Ahnurvish peoples having been in conflict with these groups almost continuously since the 700s.
    • Status of religion in politics: Officially, according to the 1968 Constitution brought in after a socialist revolution, religion is separate from the state. However in politics, as in most things, Mazdaism dominates.
    • Any big prejudices in your nation (widespread discrimination against a particular group, linguistic conflict, etc): Welcoming, if confused about everyone except Ahnurvish peoples and Tristinic Mazdaics. These groups are seen as suspicious and often discriminated against
    • View on immigration into country: Generally in favour, except from Ahnurvey or Tristinic areas of Darshistan
    • View on emigration out of country: No opinion
    • Women's Rights: Probably pretty advanced for a Badawiyan country, with some women playing major roles in politics like Farah Diba the Director of VEVAK and Esmael Zaiwala a former minister and CN secretary-general (the first female SG). However less advanced than most Euclean countries, especially in southern and rural areas
    • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs:
Soft drugs of all kinds are legalised, regulated and common, especially alcohol. Tobacco and opiates have become less common in urban areas but are still used heavily in rural areas.

National information
Official Name: Consular Republic of Ellísos/Proxenikí Dimokratía tis Ellísou/Προξενική Δημοκρατία της Ελλήςου
Shortened Name: Ellísos/Ellísou/ Ελλήςου
Requested Location: Here. Possibily with the islands north of me, I don't really mind either way.
RP Population: 66 million
Culture: Ellísos is firmly rooted in the past; rather than looking to carve a new future, much of the population wants nothing more than to go back to the 'good old days'; back when they had an empire, when they were a great power. The deep history of Ellísos further compounds this fact; every town and city has some historical significance, and many have been around for far longer than many modern nations. Despite this longing for a return to the days of national glory, otherwise Ellísos is a moderately progressive nation socially.
  • Ethnicity: The majority of the population is Ellísosian (:notGreeks:), although minorities such as the Korski (:notSardinians:), Dyeai (:notCorsicans:) and Kyreneai (:notSicilians:) inhabit the border regions of the country.
  • Religion: The vast majority of the population follow Solarian Catholicism, although with services having been traditionally in Ellísosian rather than Solarian and although much of the populace would consider themselves followers of the faith, regular Church attendance has lapsed. Athiests make up the next largest group, and are spread fairly evenly across the country. Small minorities of most other religions exist.
  • Languages:Ellísosian (:notGreek:) is the majority language, with Korski (:notSardinian:), Dyeai (:notCorsican:) and Kyreneai (:notSicilian:) having regional language status within their respective regions.
Government Type: Unitary Semi-Presidential Republic with 3 Autonomous Regions.
Head of State: Prótos Próxenos (First Consul) Demetrios Elias
Head of Government: Défteros Próxenos (Second Consul) Eudoxía Nakopolous
National Overview: Ellísos is an old nation, filled with monuments to past glories, towns and cities that have been around longer than many countries and ancient traditions; age commands respect, and respect creates power. And despite being descended from The Solarian Republic and the city of Ilyos (:notAthens:), the birthplace of democracy, the political situation has always been slightly tenuous. Even almost a century after the monarchy's forced abdication and exile following the Great War, there remains a substantial monarchist movement within Ellísos that wishes to restore the King and proclaim a constitutional monarchy, although the royal family has ruled out restoration 'unless the nation desperately requires it', although the royal family have some diplomatic roles within the government and command respect domestically and to a lesser extend abroad. In addition, there are several far-right groups, some former militant, some peaceful who command a decent amount of popular support and have attempted with mixed degrees of success to undermine the current state of affairs. The vast majority of groups and members have adopted a non-militant strategy since the mid 1980s after the military put down an attempted coup with many hardline militants being arrested and executed for treason during the aftermath. Although some have used this to indicate the military supports the current state of affairs, the military simply does whatever will preserve civil order. A reluctant founding member of the EEC, and later the EC, Ellísos views the EC as a necessary vehicle to remain relevant globally, but is wary of any single nation other than itself becoming too dominant within the organisation.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Mildly uncomfortable. The vast majority of the population has no real opinion on gay rights. Gay marriage is technically legal, but it requires a willing licensed religious figure to conduct the marriage which many refuse to do so.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Tolerated, for the most part. Religion is considered to be a private matter, and a good amount of the population believe that overt public expression of religion or the spreading of religion through Jehovah's Witness-esque evangelization constitutes a minor form of public disturbance.
  • General population's view on atheism: Tolerated. As mentioned above, religion is considered a private matter. As long as atheists do not attempt to force their religion on others or hold aggressive pro-atheism rallies and the like, they are tolerated.
  • General population's view on abortion: Legal. Whether or not to have an abortion is considered a personal matter, and the only limit on when one may be carried out is that it may not be carried out after 28 weeks of pregnancy.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): The Korski, Dyeai and Kyreneai are regarded as 'Ellísosians by another name' and have all been granted autonomy within their own regions. All other nationalities within the nation are expected to intergrate into one of the four primary groups.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation Against their former non-Euclean territories and the Federation, due to Great War-era prejudices and general bitterness.
  • View on immigration into country: Disliked, but allowed. The Ellísosian people strongly dislike non-Euclean migrants, viewing them as foreigners with no knowledge of the culture or history of the place they are moving to, which Ellísosia places a heavy importance upon knowing. Those migrants allowed in, due to their valuable skills, are expected to integrate into Ellísosian society as quickly and seamlessly as possible.
  • Women's Rights: Women are fully equal under the law with men.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Tobacco and Alcohol are both legal, although taxed. Marijuana is also legal, although all producers require a government license and can only sell to a government-run business which has a state-sanctioned monopoly on the sale of it. All other drugs are illegal, with possession, sale/distribution and consumption of illegal drugs and unlicensed distribution of legal drugs, tobacco and alcohol all being separate crimes carrying their own sentences.

Other:
  • Factbook: Not yet.
  • RP Preferences: Just about anything.
  • RP Samples: Pfffft.
  • Primary/Other NS Nations: Nope.
  • Any troubles with moderation?: Not for years.
  • Anything else?:Nope.

Shortened Name: Amathia/Ⰰⰿⰰⱅⱍⰹⰰ, sometimes also the outdated term of Amatia/Ⰰⰿⰰⱅⰹⰰ. The abbreviation of its official name is also sometimes used, either as the Amathian R.D.A./Ⱃ.Ⰴ.Ⰰ. or the English A.D.R./Ⰰ.Ⰴ.Ⱃ.
Requested Location: Exactly where it is, in southwestern Euclea.
RP Population: Somewhere around 50 million, I believe.
Culture: The culture of Amathia is basically Romanian, but I have added my own twist to it. Like the Southern Slavs from Yugoslavia, it can be said that the people of Amathia have the same culture, but regional differences in language and religion have created some distinct regional cultural groups. Odrisian is by all means, Romanian, Preidan is a Romanianized Dacian, Sorian is a more Solarian/Latin Romanian, Tirian is inspired by Aromanian, Tribarian is inspired by Istro-Romanian, and Pocurian is inspired by Megleno-Romanian.
It is believed that the Amathians were formed after the conquest of the Ancient Amathian Kingdom by the Solarian Empire, the combination of the Ancient Amathian natives and of the Solarian colonists forming the core of the Amathian culture. During the late Antiquity and the Middle Ages, major influences came from the Marolevs who settled in the territory of today's Amathia, and from the contact that the region of Amathia had with the nations of western Euclea. The region of Amathia has been a melting pot of cultures and religions, which created the regional groups of the Odrisians, the Preidans, the Sorians, the Tirians, the Tribarians and the Pocurians. Inside of the world of Kylaris, Amathian culture has never been extremely advanced, but it is an unique culture, the result of its geography and its distinct evolution. Amathia's culture is known for its many rebounds, as periods of decadence were followed by epochs when the Amathians proved their impressive resourcefulness in making up for their periods of decline, being able to rejoin the mainstream of Euclean culture again and again.
  • Ethnicity: The Amathians form the majority of Amathia's people, and they are normally divided into regional groups, known as the Odrisians/Ⱁⰴⱃⰹⱄⰹⰵⱀⰹⰹ/Odrisienii, the Preidans/Ⱂⱃⰵⰹⰴⰰⱀⰹⰹ/Preidanii, the Sorians/Ⱄⱁⱃⰹⰵⱀⰹⰹ/Sorienii, the Tirians/Ⱅⰹⱃⰹⰵⱀⰹⰹ/Tirienii, the Tribarians/Ⱅⱃⰹⰱⰰⱃⰹⰵⱀⰹⰹ/Tribarienii and the Pocurians/Ⱂⱁⱌⱆⱃⰹⰵⱀⰹⰹ/Pocurienii. Minorities from the countries surrounding Amathia are also present inside of Amathia's borders.
  • Religion: The Amathians are extremely fragmented from the point of view of religion. The Odrisans and the Pocurians are overwhelmingly Orthodox, while the Sorians and the Tirians are overwhelmingly Catholic. At the same time, the Preidans and the Tribarians are still following a pagan religion. Extremely small minorities from other religions, caused by immigration, are also present.
  • Languages: The entirety of the population of Amathia is able to speak Odrisian, which due to the considerable influence that the Republic of Odrisia has in the history of the Amathians, has become the Standard Amathian language, comparable to the real life Standard German in terms of its role. Regional dialects however also exist, Odrisian/Ⱁⰴⱃⰹⱄⰹⰰⱀⱓ/Odrisiană, Preidan/Ⱂⱃⰵⰹⰴⰰⱀⱅ/Preidant, Sorian/Ⱄⱁⱃⰹⰰⱀⰰ/Soriana, Tirian/Ⱅⰹⱃⰹⱀⰵⱄⱅⰵ/Tirinește, Tribarian/Ⱅⱃⰵⰻⰱⰰⱃⰹⰰⱀ/Trejbariană and Pocurian/Ⱂⱁⱌⱆⱃⰻⱏⰹⰰⱀⱓ/Pocurjyană. Also, all the Republics and Dialects of Amathia are using the Amathian Alphabet, even if the Solarian/Latin Alphabet has become more and more used over the last century.
Government Type: The Amathian Democratic Republic is a Federal Parliamentary Republic, based on representative democracy, formed by six constituent republics.
  • The Republic of Odrisia/Ⱃⰵⱂⱆⰱⰾⰹⱌⰰ Ⱁⰴⱃⰹⱄⰹⰵⰹ/Republica Odrisiei
  • The Republic of Preida/Ⱅⰰⱆⱅⱁⰱⰰⰾⰰ Ⱂⱃⰵⰹⰴⰵⰹ/Tautobala Preidei
  • The Republic of Soria/Ⱃⰵⱄⱂⱆⰱⰾⰹⱌⰰ Ⱄⱁⱃⰹⰰ/ Respublica Soria

  • The Republic of Tribaria/Ⱃⰵⰻⱂⱆⰱⰾⰹⱌⰰ Ⱅⱃⰹⰱⰰⱃⰹⰰ/Rejpublica Tribaria
  • The Republic of Pocuria/Ⱃⰵⱄⱂⱆⰱⰾⰹⱌⰰ Ⱂⱁⱌⱆⱃⰹⰰⰹ/Respublica Pocuriai

Head of State: Augustin Valeria, the President of the Amathian Democratic Republic/Ⱂⱃⰵⱄⰵⰴⰹⱀⱅⰵⰾⰵ Ⱃⰵⱂⱆⰱⰾⰹⱌⰹⰹ Ⰴⰵⰿⱁⱌⱃⰰⱅⰵ Ⰰⰿⰰⱅⱍⰹⰵⱀⰵ/Președintele Republicii Democrate Amathiene. The President is the Head of the Amathian State, and he is mainly invested with representative responsibilities and powers. He is directly elected by the people of Amathia once every five years.
Head of Government: Michael Cantacuzino, First Logothete of the Amathian Democratic Republic/Ⱂⱃⰹⰿⱆⰾ Ⰾⱁⰳⱁⱅⰵⱅ ⰰⰾ Ⱃⰵⱂⱆⰱⰾⰹⱌⰹⰹ Ⰴⰵⰿⱁⱌⱃⰰⱅⰵ Ⰰⰿⰰⱅⱍⰹⰵⱀⰵ/Marele Logotet al Republicii Democrate Amathiene. The First Logothete, also known as the Great Logothete or the Chief Logothete, is the head of the Amathian Government, and he exercises executive power, in the same way as the Prime Minister of other republics. Federal legislative power is given to the First Logothete by the Chamber of Nations and the Chamber of Peoples, which together form the legislative body of Amathia, the Amathian Senate.
National Overview: Amathia is a land of contractions. It is an old and proud nation that is however very fragmented. It is progressive, with a liberal, left-leaning constitution and a membership status in the Euclean Community, but it is also deeply religious and conservative, especially in its rural areas. From a political point of view, Amathia has been very unstable over the past decades, with no party being able to gain a majority in the Senate on its own. Coalitions have fallen and risen, and the Amathian politics are still deeply divided. The main two parties are the left wing and progressive Social Democratic Party, and the right wing and conservative National Liberal Party, with the first being often supported by the center-left National Peasant's Party and with the second being often supported by the center-right Alliance of Liberals and Democrats. Other parties like the extremist right wing Legion of the Dawn, the National Monarchist Party, the People's Party and the Green Party also exist, and all these parties are stuck in an endless succession of coalitions. Right now, the ruling coalition is made up by the Social-Democrats, the National Peasant's Party and the Green Party. In terms of its economy, Amathia has managed to create a social market economy, that supports a welfare state. Amathia's economy has however suffered over the last few years due to the political instability. Amathia is not a member of the Eucleozone, as it is using its own currency, the Libra, but it is a member of the EC single market. The Amathian society is deeply fragmented and divided, from cultural and religious points of view, despite the continuous attempts of the various governments that have led the country to fix that. However, a common Amathian identity has existed and it seems to be persevering, despite the existence of regional cultural and sub-ethnic groups.

Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: The general population's view on homosexuality is incredibly fragmented, and it has continuously been the cause of massive debates. The Amathian Democratic Republic ensures of the right of the homosexual people in Amathia, and it recognizes gay marriage. However, the main two religions of Amathia, !Orthodoxy and !Catholicism are extremely against the very idea of homosexuality, and a significant part of the population supports their view, despite the attempts of the various governments to fight against homophobia. !Paganism however accepts the idea of homosexuality, and it recognizes the rights of the gay people, and it even organizes gay marriages, which has led to an increase in the number of gay person which follow that religion. Homosexual couples have not yet been allowed to adopt children, but the current ruling coalition has a law project which would allow it.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Amathia itself is very fragmented from the point of view of religion, and as such, religious tolerance has a long history here, but a certain level of rivalry exists between Amathia's main religions. Also, !Orthodoxy and !Catholicism dislike !Pagan liberalism on issues like gay marriage.
  • General population's view on atheism: The Amathian Democratic Republics recognizes the rights of its citizens to be atheistic or agnostic, but the majority of the population is still religious, and atheism is somewhat frowned upon.
  • General population's view on abortion: The Amathian Democratic Republic recognizes the right of women to abortion, mostly in cases of rape or when the mother's life is in danger, but abortions "on demand" are also allowed. A certain taboo however exists about the idea of abortion, and a significant part of the population continues to be against it.
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s):Due to the existences of so many cultural/sub-ethnic groups in Amathia, the Amathians have grown to be pretty tolerant when it comes to other ethnic groups. The Amathians themselves generally tend not to think lowly of other races, but the lack of many racial minorities means that the views of the Amathians have not yet been tested in real life too much.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation There are variably strong resentments between the various regional groups of Amathians, and certain prejudices also exist about Amathia's neighbors and even about the other countries of the Euclean Community.
  • View on immigration into country: It's rather mixed. Most Amathians do not object against immigration, but various issues have stopped Amathia from being a very popular target for emigrants. As such, there simply aren't enough immigrants in the country create strong views against immigration. What is certain however is that the Amathians are extremely protective and conservative when it comes to their own culture(s).
  • Women's Rights: Once again, rather mixed. The Amathian Democratic Republic's laws are supposed to ensure the equality between men and women, but sexist views and prejudices still exist, especially in rural areas, and !Orthodoxy and !Catholic have indirectly supported those views. !Paganism however, considers that women are equal to men, and in the areas where !Paganism has the majority, like Preida, it can be said that gender equality has been reached.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Tobacco is generally frowned upon by the majority of the population, but it is legal for adults after the age of 18. Alcohol is extremely popular in Amathia, and the legal drinking age is 16, although people who abuse alcohol can be prohibited from buying it again. In terms of drugs, Marijuana has been legalized a few years ago and it is becoming more and more popular. It is regulated and sold by the state itself. Dangerous drugs like cocaine and heroin are forbidden, but people are pushing for the legalization of some other, soft recreational drugs.

National information
Official Name: Mariranan Free State
Shortened Name: Marirana
Requested Location: Where it is on the map now
RP Population: Somewhere around 55-90 million? I know it's a massive increase (bring asked for thanks to the increased size of Marirana on the map and that its neighbours all have high populations) but I’m flexible on the overall number
Culture: Marirana has an indigenous culture based around the native Iamcaxan people (think !notAztecs) and a colonial culture brought by !notItalians. Cultural mixing means these cultures are intertwined in many ways, with the country as a whole being deeply influenced by both native and !notChristian cultural practices.
  • Ethnicity: A plurality of the country is Iamcaxan (40.6%) followed by mixed white-Iamcaxans (38.9%). Whites (10.7%) are seen as an economic and political ruling class but this is unofficial and has shifted. Other groups make up the remaining 9.8%
  • Religion: Marirana is overwhelming (90%+) a !notCatholic country. However a minority follow indigenous beliefs which is based around worship to a sun god.
  • Languages: !notItalian is the main language and officially recognised by the government. Iamacaxian (!notNahuatl) is recognised as the main native language for indigenous peoples
Government Type: Constitutional democratic semi presidential republic with devolution to provinces
Head of State: President Giorgio Macciocchi from the Christian Democratic Party.
MHead of Government: Prime Minister Rosa Michelozzi from the Christian Democratic Party. Michelozzi leads a centrist government of the Christian Democrats and Social Democrats.
National Overview:Mariranas history has been defined by political instability and polarisation. During the 20th century it suffered several coups and right wing reactionary military regimes which promoted Catholicism, anti-leftism, authoritarianism and corporatism (later promoting free market neoliberalism). The last dictatorship which fell in 1990 promoted the free market but also saw opposition from left wing groups who started as a result an armed insurgency to overthrow the state.

Since the fall of the dictatorship politics have been dominated by the centrist Christian and Social democrats, who are de facto indistinguishable supporting a social market economy and Christian social policies. This has led to extremes on the right in the form of the United National Party and the left in the form of the Popular Socialist Alliance.

The left wing insurgency has over time developed into a drug war as the rebels use drug sales to sustain themselves. The cooperative nature of the rebels and their quasi communes in the areas they control make them popular with peasants especially those who hate the “imperialist” Federation/Roeselle.

Marirana is a member of the JDF. It's GDP per capita is ~$18k (willing to lower the higher the population)
Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Marirana is fairly conservative leading to homophobia amongst a wide section of the population. However some in urban centres are more liberal, leading to homosexuality to be decriminalised in 2007
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: Most of the population mistrust other religions, especially !notProtesantism
  • General population's view on atheism: Most of the population mistrust or are hostile to atheism
  • General population's view on abortion: Marirana only allows abortions if the life of the mother is in danger. Around half the population want to liberalise abortion law and the other half either support the law as it stands or want an outright ban
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Generally other ethnic groups are accepted, although intermarrying is seen as odd especially between newer immigrant communities
  • Any big prejudices in your nation
  • View on immigration into country: Immigration is generally seen positively as long as immigrants assimilate in certain ways - mainly conversion to Christianity. Otherwise immigrants and their communities are accepted
  • Women's Rights: Women are legally equal to men. However sexism is still potent in many parts of society and there is no equal wage law or maternity leave, whilst abortion laws are very restrictive
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Marirana does not have a drinking culture but most of the population support easy access to alcohol. Most people smoke tobacco heavily. All other drugs are banned and their use is frowned upon although some peasant communities commonly chew coca leaves and there is an illicit drug culture

National information
Official Name: La République de Sanslumière
Shortened Name: Sanslumière
Requested Location: The Two Westmost Islands of the Arucian and the three small islands nearest to the larger one
RP Population: 10,342,850
Culture and ethnicity: The people of Sanslumière generally fall into two groups: les Gaullois (30%) and les Bahiaux (70%). The upper and middle classes are generally made up of Gaullois while the lower class is generally Bahiaux. The only official language is Gaullois, whilst many Bahiaux speak “Nègrais” colloquially. The Gaullois are primarily white, with an extremely small minority of Coians, while the Bahiaux are ethnically Bahian. (It is basically an Apartheid Haiti).
  • Religion: Solarian Catholicism is the official and by far the most prominent religion in Sanslumière (approx. 97%), with the small remainder being shared between atheism, agnosticism and faiths brought by migrants.
  • Languages: The only official language is Gaullican, which remains almost identical to that of gaullica (it has not become a regional dialect). Some Bahiaux also speak regional variations of slang derived from Gaullican with hints of Bahian languages, but none of these are officially recognised.
Government Type: “Democratic” Republic (de facto Apartheid state- there are regular elections via FPTP, but parts of the country that are predominantly white receive a disproportionate amount of constituencies, so whereas one may be populated by 5,000 Gaullois, another may contain 50,000 Bahiaux, thus creating a disproportionate representation of the Gaullois population in parliament. The President is the leader of the largest party in parliament following an election.)
Head of State: President Arnaud Noirenègre
Head of Government: President Arnaud Noirenègre
National Overview: Sanslumière was the first island of the New World discovered by Gaullican explorers, and thus became the first of many Gaullican colonies in the Asterias, acting as a staging ground for expeditions into both mainlands. As the slave trade grew throughout colonial powers, Sanslumière became an international trade hub and renowned slave market due to its strategic position as the ‘Gateway to Asteria Inferior’. This, coupled with the island’s bountiful pineapple, banana, tobacco and sugar harvests, caused the colony to prosper and grow rapidly, resulting in the nearby islands of Falaise, Saint Julien, Citadelle and La Roche falling under the jurisdiction of Sanslumière’s colonial governor. Sanslumière continued to rely on slave labour until the abolishment of slavery throughout the Gaullican Empire, which resulted in a new two-tiered citizenship system that allowed former slaves only the most basic of rights.
During the Third Gilded War (or whatever war will replace it), Sanslumière was the main base of operations for the Gaullican Navy in the Asterias, and was blockaded by the Federation upon its entering into the Great War, but was never actually invaded. Following the end of the Great War, Sanslumière was granted independence from Gaullica, retaining control of its peripheral islands (the independence was actually forced, as the colonial governor wished to remain Gaullican). The new République de Sanslumière would experience a civil war between the Bahiaux workers, who fought for the establishment of a Communist state, and the Gaullois aristocracy, who fought to maintain the status quo.
This led to an intervention by Senouillac in 1940, as it feared the Federation would intervene itself and install a friendly regime. As a result, an agreement was reached between the Gaullois and Senouillac, whereby Senouillac would help fight the Bahiaux rebels so long as Sanslumière would become a Democratic Republic but maintain the dominance of the white Gaullicans.
To this day, the République de Sanslumière has not changed much in terms of political structure, apart from the elevation of its peripheral islands to equal status as that of Sanslumière. The island republic has maintained strong ties to Gaullica and its other former colonies, becoming a founding member of the Asterian Development Council and staunchly supporting Gaullica and its international policy. Sanslumière desires to join the Gaullophonie, but is refused entry due to its apartheid system of government that would alienate the Gaullophonie’s Bahian members, and so Sanlumière’s membership comes in the form of Sanslumièrais representatives in Gaullica’s delegations.
Social views:
  • General population's view on gay rights/gay people: Gay couples are allowed civil marriages in court, but churches have no obligation to marry gay couples. These civil marriages afford gay couples the same rights as heterosexual ones. The pro-LGBT movements have no prominence in Sanslumière, but there are no major anti-LGBT movements either.
  • General population's view on religions other than the primary one: The massive dominance of Solarian Catholicism means that the small percentage of non-followers is left to its own business (they are mainly in the capital and are not seen as a major issue).
  • General population's view on atheism: Atheism is not a major issue as a sizable number of Catholics are non-practising or not particularly pious.
  • General population's view on abortion: The older generation generally supports the banning of abortion under any circumstance, as contraception is widely available in the country. The majority of the adult population, however, supports abortion before 20 weeks of pregnancy, after which it can only be done in certain circumstances (threat to mother, etc.).
  • View on other races/ethnic groups other than the primary one(s): Other than the Bahians, who are 2nd-Class citizens, other ethnic groups are treated well due to the official policy of ‘supporting minorities’, which is used to justify the great benefits enjoyed by the Gaullois population.
  • Any big prejudices in your nation: BAHIANS
  • View on immigration into country: Immigrants are welcomed by the general populace, especially from Gaullica and other ADC countries.
  • Women's Rights: While some older women may prefer the traditional maternal role, younger women are increasingly entering the workforce in both sectors of Sanslumière’s society.
  • Views on tobacco/alcohol/pot/other drugs: Tobacco is a significant part of Sanslumière’s history, being one of its major crops throughout its colonial period. This industry has maintained prominence in Sanslumière, with the majority of the population smoking tobacco and a cigar culture maintained in the Gaullois upper class. Alcohol has a similar popularity due to the island’s traditional rum industry, which represents the vast majority of the country’s alcohol production and consumption. There is also a much smaller beer industry which, despite being outmatched by the rum industry, has proved very successful internationally. Pot and other drugs are illegal in Sanslumière, although marijuana and coca plants are grown illegally in some rural parts of the country, creating a fairly sized drug culture in the Bahiaux and young Gaullois communities.
