History
Image
Northern Airways started out with just one leased Airbus A320 in 2000 and one route from the recently finished Dreamliner International Airport to Periapsis International Airport, running four flights every week and shuttle service with six secondhand 737-200 aircraft, to the various cities within the country, establishing the airline as a firm company. (Today, Northern owns the leased A320, saved from the aircraft boneyard, due for scrapping, and it is put outside the headquarters as a symbol of the roots of the carrier, repainted in the original livery. The 737-200 aircraft, retired from passenger service, are in aviation museums and one is outside the Northern Airways Maintenance Hangars.) Since then we have expanded both our services and our fleet and flying new routes into new airports all over the world. We took on the bulk of our fleet from Perapsis International Charter after it went bust and have acquired more since then. We plan to expand further with new routes into more destinations. Our hub is Dreamliner International airport in St. Joseph, with our secondary hub being Paradise Gate International Airport serving the capital of Lexian. Recently, we decided to branch out our routes and seek new destinations. We have begun code share agreements with several airlines, companies, and airports as well. We have established several subsidiaries to help Northern Airways branch out into the various portions of the aviation and tourism markets. We are proud to be a member of Star Alliance and the flag carrier for The Democratic States of The Dreamliners as well as the nation's largest carrier. Northern Airways is government owned and perhaps operates one of the largest fleet of aircraft in the world all owned by the airline, rivaling some of the largest airlines in the skies today.

FROM: Joseph Bugaj, President and CEO, Northern Airways
SUBJECT: Letter from the President

Good day, and thank you for looking into Northern Airways, the flag carrier and home airline of The Dreamliners. I am Joseph Bugaj, president and CEO of this fine airline. I started this airline on a dream of providing luxury, low cost air travel to the masses, and the belief that every aircraft, no matter how old, broken, or beat up it is, it wants to fly again, and that it has a soul of some kind. That was several years ago, and I am both pleased and very proud at how far the airline has come since its conception. We have four divisions of the company, International travel, shuttle service, maintenance and training divisions. The airline is a major success in the country and very popular, with unorthodox but proven methods and items and services that no other airline has, such as our barber shop available in our lounges. We have established ourselves as a people’s airline, providing the best service in the skies, rivaling the great airlines in the skies today. This airline is ever-expanding further, growing more and more and we hope to stay in business for years to come. Thank you for choosing Northern Airways.

Sincerely,
Joseph Bugaj
President and CEO of Northern Airways

Fleet
Image
Our fleet has expanded since 2005. We now run a variety of aircraft on both our regional and international routes. Most of the aircraft came secondhand from different airlines, mainly our partners Arthropol Airlines, Air Atlantique and Air Inter. Northern Airways is employing the technique of utilizing older aircraft on the fleet routes, running older planes across the whole fleet with new ones purchased coming in to keep up with the progress of air travel. Our aircraft are configured for complete comfort, not crammed like sardines. All aircraft are undergoing potential modification to be fitted with low pressure tires for rough landing strips and certain enhanced avionics as well as modifications for fuel efficiency and conversion to biofuel. All modifications are under development by our maintenance and modification subsidiary, Northern Engineering (a.k.a. Jetliner Standard Engineering). The modifications are only in development stages and have not been used on any aircraft. Our current passenger fleet including undelivered orders is 467 planes in total, though most of our fleet are on order or being repainted in Northern Airways colors at Trudeau Logistics Airport by our main maintenance facility in The Dreamliners. Planes put on standby or stored are kept in operational conditions for deployment at a moments notice. The current active fleet is 208 planes of 18 types and it consists of:

This reliable aircraft is one of our long haul workhorses in the fleet, running 16 currently, from the original 2 777-200ER aircraft acquired from the Periapsis International Charters fleet. Originally, we were going to sell these aircraft to other airlines, until we changed our minds and deployed one of them on our international routes. Our pilots and crews grew quite fond of the planes, and so did the passengers. They were impressed at the fact that the plane was able to be so light and nimble, and absorb turbulence quite well. At the urging from passengers, crews and pilots, we placed orders for more of the aircraft, specifically in the 777-200ER and LR variants, all running GE-90 engines. We believed that the 777-200ER and LR variants best fit our needs for the long range twinjet routes, to work with our 767-300ER aircraft. Over the course of several years, the 777 fleet grew from 2 to 16, all in the 200 variants, proving to be reliable on the routes. The final 2 planes were very recent additions of the 777-300ER variant, to be used on the longest routes. They came from a requirement for an aircraft to fulfill a need for four spares, to be used on long routes, and the 777-300ER’s range fit the bill for the requirement, so the order was placed. So far these aircraft have proven to be reliable, efficient, machines in our fleet with pilots and crews alike wanting to fly them. These aircraft are really popular for the long range routes, and are highly praised by passengers for the comforts, even in economy, and it is popular with aviation enthusiasts because of its size, and power, using some of the most powerful turbofan engines constructed today.
Image
From a logical standpoint, these aircraft work well, being efficient on fuel and giving us a reasonable cost per seat on the plane. The fly-by-wire systems and glass cockpits onboard make the workload on our pilots much easier on the flights. Our planes are configured to seat 269 comfortably, with WiFi, personal reading lamps at each seat, regardless of class, and plenty of legroom unlike most airlines that have cramped seats. Inflight movies are also offered on our flights, thanks to the latest technology in in-flight entertainment, and bedding amenities such as blankets, pillows and slippers are available for the overnight flights upon request. Our inflight entertainment systems allow passengers to view a vast collection of movies and TV shows spanning the years, such as the cult classics Airplane and Spaceballs, to well known films like Star Wars, and Star Trek. Passengers can be assured of the best possible service across the whole fleet, and the amenities on each aircraft lessen the burden of long distance travelling. For the aviation enthusiast, there is a new feature available where passengers can be able to see the takeoff from several cameras on the aircraft, offering different views, from the nose gear to the tip of the tail. The views are the nosegear, right and left wing views (Before the wing, seeing the engine spinner), wingtips, underbelly, tailcone, and tip of the vertical stabilizer. These views allow for passengers to observe the takeoff, certain aspects of the flight, and landing, from various angles outside the plane. It has proven to be a beautiful, popular and reliable machine in service, and we look forward to running the plane for many years to come.
Each 777 aircraft has the following features available: Fly-by-wire, LCD flight displays, WiFi, reading lamps, In-flight Entertainment, in-seat power ports, USB ports, fine cuisine, and other features.

Boeing 777-200LR
This aircraft is a popular addition to the Northern Airways fleet, allowing virtually global reach to Northern Airways and allowing the airline to reach destinations anywhere in the world. Dubbed the Worldliner by Boeing, the 777-200LR is a capable plane in service with the airline running 7 planes in total, with none on order. The 777-200LR has been a mainstay in the fleet since their introduction several years ago. The planes have been utilized on ULR routes in the route network and will work alongside the A350-900ULR and quadjets in service. The plane originally was acquired alongside the 777-200ER planes ordered for long range twinjet routes and pilots and crews grew quite fond of the planes, and so did the passengers as well as the 777 planes operated in service. These aircraft are really popular for the long range routes, and are highly praised by passengers for the comforts, even in economy, and it is popular with aviation enthusiasts because of its size, and power, using some of the most powerful turbofan engines constructed today. The planes have been updated to modern standards with Fly-By-Wire systems and digital displays to make the workloads on the crews much easier. Passenger configuration is currently F8C40Y221 for a passenger count of 269, but that may change soon with the introduction of more 777-200 planes entering service in standard and ER variants, to allow for commonality of the 777-200 fleet across all variants. The passenger interiors have been configured to seat passengers in absolute comfort, regardless of class with WiFi, personal reading lamps, and plenty of legroom. IFE is also available in the 777-200LR, as well as the 777 fleet and it allows passengers to view a vast collection of movies and TV shows spanning the years, such as the cult classics Airplane and Spaceballs, to well known films like Star Wars, and Star Trek. Passengers can be assured of the best possible service across the whole fleet, and the amenities on each aircraft lessen the burden of long distance travelling. Boeing 767-300ER
Image
This reliable aircraft is our mainline workhorse, and is our most plentiful plane in our fleet, running 62 planes in total and sister aircraft to the 787-8. We looked for a long haul passenger transport that worked on our long range routes (5 hours plus), to assist the 777 and 747 fleet that we purchased from the remnants of Periapsis International Charters. We started looking towards twin-jets, for their simplicity, and a suggestion from a few pilots flying the 777. Eventually we decided to try the 767 from Boeing. We borrowed a second hand aircraft from United Airlines for a few months time and the aircraft received rave reviews from both flight crews and passengers lucky enough to fly this sole 767. When we returned the aircraft to United Airlines, we immediately placed firm orders for 14 aircraft in the 300ER variant. That was our first new aircraft acquisition. They were delivered in a suitable time frame and were placed into immediate passenger service, with full Northern Airways interiors installed relatively quickly. The 767 has proven to be a sturdy aircraft, garnering rave reviews from passengers, crews, and pilots in its years of service since introduction, and we look forward to running this plane for a very, very long time. This plane has been flying the routes since its acquisition, and thanks to our maintenance services, they have also maintained an excellent safety record. For pilot training, we acquired a 767-200 airliner for that purpose.
Image
The interior has been configured to seat 261 comfortably with plenty of legroom and free WiFi on-board, in-flight movies and other features, including our takeoff views, matching the interior to the 777. Bedding amenities such as blankets, pillows and slippers are available for the overnight flights upon request. Our inflight entertainment systems allow passengers to view a vast collection of movies and TV shows spanning the years. This aircraft has proven to be a very reliable workhorse in our fleet, and we are proud to run it. Recently, Boeing committed to freighter versions of the 767 line, which we have on order for our cargo division. A suitable match is the 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, which we have already introduced into the fleet just recently. We were sad to hear that Boeing would no longer make passenger versions of our trusty workhorse, but that doesn’t mean that the 767 is on the way out. We plan to run this aircraft for plenty of years in the future, gracing the skies on our route network.

Boeing 787-8
Image
This aircraft is the newest addition to our fleet, with 6 currently in service and 24 more on order. When Boeing shifted production of the 767, our prime workhorse, to freighter production, we needed to find an alternative to complete the missing orders for the 767. The 787-8 Dreamliner fit the bill, coming close to the 767-300ER, and we saw it as an updated version to our favorite aircraft, so we converted the orders to the 787. 6 aircraft were initially delivered and gradually introduced into service. The planes were introduced with the newest version of the Northern Airways Interior, and passengers liked the aircraft, and it is much quieter, with new engines. The aircraft are fitted with General Electric GEnx engines, the successor to the reliable General Electric CF-6 engine used on most of our fleet. Each aircraft is fitted with the latest in aircraft technology and passenger comforts. The flight deck is outfitted with the latest fly by wire hardware which greatly reduces the workload on pilots, along with a vast majority of new systems and technology to lessen the overall workload of the plane. The plane has several advanced features paired with its composite construction, new technology, new engines, and new features. Configured to seat 219 comfortably, passenger interiors underwent a major overhaul for the new 787, utilizing the latest in integrated in-flight entertainment technology, and version 2.0 with our takeoff views.
Image
A new feature that is being tested is our inter-class bar, located It also incorporated LED technology for passenger lighting, with multicolor mood lighting also installed on the plane. Another feature is the lower cabin pressure; reducing jetlag on long trips by pumping in air at a lower altitude pressure. The plane has garnered favoritism from passengers who fly on it, the crews who man it, and the pilots who fly it. From a logical standpoint, this plane is the 767, version 2.0, with the new technology, and greater fuel efficiency, thanks to its revolutionary construction and new engines. This plane will be able to bring Northern Airways to the 21st century. It has proven to be a beautiful, popular and reliable machine in service since its recent introduction, and we look forward to running the plane for many years to come, and perhaps procuring more of the aircraft in the future.
Each 787 aircraft has the following features available: Fly-by-wire, LCD flight displays, WiFi, reading lamps, In-flight Entertainment, in-seat power ports, USB ports, fine cuisine, and other features, above the advanced technology.

Boeing 787-9
This aircraft type is a new addition to our fleet. It is longer than the 787-8 which is in service and these aircraft were acquired secondhand from Arthropol Airlines. Arthropol Airlines retired them from service in the process of converting into an all Airbus fleet. Northern Airways took on the 10 787-9 planes they had in their fleet and they were introduced into Northern Airways service in the month of December. These planes were retrofitted with window shades over the electronic tinting while in Arthropol Airlines service, and the planes retain this added feature. Being relatively new, these planes will remain in Northern Airways service long into the future. With the new technology available in airline use, these planes are advanced and modern. New interiors are fitted as well as new fuel efficient engines. The 787-9 does not run the GEnx, as Arthropol Airlines ran Trent 1000 engines. This allows us to try both engines in Northern Airways service as we do not just rely on one engine manufacturer with the many aircraft types operated. The flight deck is outfitted with the latest fly by wire hardware which greatly reduces the workload on pilots, along with a vast majority of new systems and technology to lessen the overall workload of the plane. Due to it being the larger version of the 787, the cockpit is the same, allowing for flight crews that fly the 787-8 to fly the 787-9 with little retraining on the new plane. The plane has several advanced features paired with its composite construction, new technology, new engines, and new features like its sister aircraft, the 787-8. Configured to seat 216 passengers comfortably in F8,C42,Y166 configuration, the passenger interiors are fitted with the latest technology available in IFE, with version 2.0 in takeoff views. Other features are the inter-class bar, located between first and business class. It also incorporates LED technology for passenger lighting, with multicolor mood lighting also installed on the plane. Another feature is the lower cabin pressure; reducing jetlag on long trips by pumping in air at a lower altitude pressure. The plane has garnered favoritism from passengers who fly on it, the crews who man it, and the pilots who fly it alongside the 787-8. Each 787 aircraft has the following features available: Fly-by-wire, LCD flight displays, WiFi, reading lamps, In-flight Entertainment, takeoff views 2.0, in-seat power ports, USB ports, fine cuisine, and other features, above the advanced technology. We thank Arthropol Airlines for selling the planes to us and we look forward to running these planes long into the future and perhaps getting more from Boeing.

Airbus A330-200 & -300
Image
This aircraft was only supposed to be a temporary acquisition for the summer travel season. A suitable aircraft was sought to supplement the 767 fleet during the time of the summer travel season. The A330 fit the bill. Four were leased from GE Aircraft Leasing and all aircraft received favorable reviews from the passengers that flew on them. Due to the favorable reviews and expansion of the route network, 8 aircraft were ordered directly from the manufacturer, with the engines being supplied by all three major engine manufacturers. Pratt & Whitney, with their PW4000, General Electric with their CF6, and Rolls Royce with their Trent 700. We currently have a fleet of 21 aircraft in use, with 7 aircraft each running the engines. Recently, new planes of the A330-200 line were acquired and have been gradually entered service, with more on the way, either acquired new or second hand. It has been a reliable and worthy aircraft in our fleet alongside the 767, 777, and 787 aircraft.\This plane has been flying the routes since its acquisition, and thanks to our maintenance services, they have also maintained an excellent safety record without a single crash, major accident, or major incident to date. The Airbus A330-200 can seat 253 in a three class layout and the A330-300 can seat 278 in the same three class layout. All aircraft have WiFi as standard, and amenities for the travelling passenger are offered.

Aircraft also have the takeoff views installed, same as our 777, and other aircraft in the mainline fleet. All aircraft are fitted with comfortable space, seating, and legroom. Modifications are under development for possible experimental conversion to newer engines, as well as strengthened engine pylons, stronger landing gear, low pressure tires, and enhanced avionics, along with newer aircraft computers. The modifications and enhancements will allow for the aircraft to fly further and faster on less fuel and landing on unprepared or less prepared airstrips based on terrain, bringing the aircraft to NEO standards while we are also contemplating on procuring the A330-200 & -300NEO airliners of our own.

Image
This plane is one of the newest types in our fleet, and is sure to be a surefire success in the airline. This plane runs the latest technology in construction, powerplant, avionics, and interior comfort. The Northern Airways fleet currently has several planes in the -900ULR variant, leased on a 6 month trial period from Arthropol Airlines, the same airline which we have purchased several of their aircraft for our fleet, until the deliveries of the aircraft ordered arrive. Recently, Northern Airways took delivery of their first new A350-900 ordered. The plane, registered A9-267, has been named “Pride Of Progress”, a name aptly fitting a plane so technologically advanced and is the latest in commercial airline technology, being designed by Airbus from the ground up. The planes run the newest in engine technology, thanks to their new Rolls Royce Trent XWB engines developed from the RB-211 used on our aircraft.

Boeing 747-400
Image
This aircraft is a proud addition to our fleet. We currently have 6 in service, with plans to acquire more. The downturn of the 747 was well known, yet in our fleet, they are thriving. They may be inefficient to operate, expensive, and dirty to maintain in service, but we aren’t quitting on this reliable aircraft even though other airlines might. The need for this aircraft came from a backlog of travelers on a few of our routes, proving to be a bit too much for our 767 and 777 aircraft. Most of the flights were leaving at full capacity, if not over capacity. A larger capacity aircraft needed to be found, and the Boeing 747 fit the bill perfectly. The current fleet of 6 aircraft were all acquired secondhand from various airlines that were seeking to retire them from their service. Upon entrance into our fleet, they fit in perfectly on the high capacity routes which allowed us to charge lower fares on those routes. These are powerful workhorses in our fleet, and will maintain their pride long into the future. Our pilots love them, saying it is like an expensive German sports car and a Cadillac Fleetwood rolled into one, both in the sense of comfort and maneuverability. Comforts on this aircraft are plentiful and you rarely feel turbulence in the plane. When it came to engineering, those were hard to combine but Boeing succeeded and the 747 was the end result. “It feels like flying a large fighter”. We plan to keep all of them in service long into the future. The 747 may be on the way out, but in our fleet, these aircraft plan to stay. They have been completely redone with beautiful first class interiors inside with lie flat seats, private spaces amongst the features in the Northern Airways 747s. Configured to seat 416 in a three class layout, all aircraft have WiFi as standard for complete communication with the ground for buisnessmen on the plane, or just for entertainment on laptops, or cellular devices. Amenities for the travelling passenger are offered. Blankets and pillows are provided on the overnight flights, or at passenger request. The fly-by-wire systems and glass cockpits onboard make the workload on our pilots much easier on the flights. There are personal reading lamps at each seat, regardless of class, and plenty of legroom unlike most airlines that have cramped seats. In-flight movies are also offered on our flights, thanks to the latest technology in in-flight entertainment. Our inflight entertainment systems allow passengers to view a vast collection of movies and TV shows spanning the years. Passengers can be assured of the best possible service across the whole fleet, and the amenities on each aircraft lessen the burden of long distance travelling. Aircraft also have the takeoff views installed and are fitted with comfortable space, seating, and legroom. We plan to keep all 747s in service because of both their favoritism with passengers and crews alike and their iconic history of this legendary “Jumbo Jet” in our service, as well as their service around the world. Recently, we purchased several planes from Fyodorian Airlines and Arthropol Airlines, (running Rolls Royce engines instead of the GE engines) and they will be put into service upon delivery. We have also introduced the successor and newest version, the 747-8i into the fleet to run alongside the 747-400.

Boeing 747-8I
Image
This aircraft is another proud addition to our fleet. We currently have 2 in service, with 14 on the order books. Due to a boom in air travel, and wanting to keep up with airlines in progress and aviation technology, the newest version of the 747 was ordered, with an original order of 10 planes and 10 options. We also procured the 747-8 to supplement the 747-400 we have in active fleet service and we have had immense success with the 747 lineup overall, starting with the 747-200B and the 747-300. Both types are currently in fleet storage. With the immense success we have had with the 747 lineup, it seemed fitting to get the -8 variant at the time. And we are proud to finally have the 747-8i in active fleet service amongst its predecessor. This is the newest and largest variant of the 747 plane making it the 3rd generation and the newest version to an aircraft line that has been iconic in passenger, military and film service. It has been redesigned, with a lengthened fuselage, redesigned wing, new and larger engines, giving it a leg up in efficiency and range to its predecessor, the 747-400. They have been completely outfitted with the newest generation of beautiful first class interiors inside with lie flat seats, and private spaces amongst the features in the Northern Airways 747 fleet. Configured to seat 410 in a three class layout, all aircraft have WiFi as standard for complete communication with the ground for buisnessmen on the plane, or just for entertainment on laptops, or cellular devices. Amenities for the travelling passenger are offered. Blankets and pillows are provided on the overnight flights, or at passenger request.
Image
The fly-by-wire systems and glass cockpits onboard make the workload on our pilots much easier on the flights, and due to commonality between the 747-8 and the 747-400, minimal pilot retraining is needed.

The 747-8i also has the newest version of takeoff views installed and the planes are fitted with comfortable space, seating, and legroom within the redesigned cabin interior compared to the -400. We plan to keep all 747s in service because of both their favoritism with passengers and crews alike and their iconic history of this legendary “Jumbo Jet” in our service, as well as their service around the world. These iconic planes will never go to the scrap yard for disassembly. That we will be sure of. Recently, we had placed orders for more at the Dubai Airshow and two were also delivered and are in service. We look forward to getting more of the famed 747-8i and the freighter variant, the -8F for Northern Cargo, our freight subsidiary.

Boeing 757-200
Image
These aircraft were purchased secondhand from various operators to supplement our narrow body aircraft before they went to Northern Shuttle. We needed an aircraft that could fly to destinations that were beyond the range of the 737 and weren’t economical to fly a 767 in. After consulting with airlines, the 757-200 fit the bill. We procured several older 757 aircraft with Rolls Royce RB211 engines and decided to put two to the test. Although originally designed for short to medium haul routes, the 757-200 series aircraft have been put to use on a variety of routes, from shuttle services to transatlantic routes, tasks that the plane wasn’t originally designed for. The aircraft performed flawlessly and our flight crews loved it, Even our president and CEO, Joseph Bugaj loved the plane and immediately ordered more aircraft from Boeing. But since Boeing shut down their production line, the aircraft needed to be procured secondhand. We procured 20 for the airline out of scrap yards and from secondhand airlines. Our goal was to try to procure at least 100 planes but that would be a challenge. We are currently waiting to procure more of our favorite medium to long range narrow body aircraft. Even the president of the airline bought one, citing the impressive statistics of the aircraft. The 757 is a popular favorite among our flight crews, citing relative ease with the controls and the plane flying more like a giant bird than an airliner, as well as commonality with the 767 which allows our crews to get a common type rating on both aircraft.
Image
Controls were flawless in banks and turns. Cabin crews reported relative ease in both service and transition from other narrow body aircraft in the fleet. Capable of seating a maximum of 224 passengers, the aircraft have been configured to seat 200 in a two class layout. All aircraft have WiFi as standard for complete communication with the ground for buisnessmen on the plane, or just for entertainment on laptops, or cellular devices. Amenities for the travelling passenger are offered. Blankets and pillows are provided on the overnight flights, or at passenger request. Aircraft also have the takeoff views installed and are fitted with comfortable space, seating, and legroom. Recently, we have acquired another 35 more from Arthropol Airlines, which withdrew them from their fleet in the process of converting to an all Airbus fleet. We look forward to procuring more of these aircraft when they become available.

Tupolev TU-204/214
Image
This aircraft is the Russian equivalent to the 757-200. It provides us with good service to our passengers and works well for us for our services. It runs alongside our 757-200 on similar routes and works beautifully. We currently have 5. We procured the aircraft type on an aircraft search for new planes. We had gone to the Tupolev Design Bureau at their Aviastar facility, where the TU-204 was being produced. The plane caught our interest and saw a finished prototype. Once we saw the specifications, we were interested in the twinjet. The 6 abreast seating gave some commonality with our 757 airliner, allowing for minimal crew training between the airliners. Configured to seat 172 in a two class setup, it isn’t our highest capacity workhorse compared to the 757, but it does the job, and quite well too. We had ordered the 5 that we have, plus options for 7 more at a later date. Three were fitted with the Rolls Royce RB211 engines, and the other two fitted with the Aviadvigatel PS-90 engines, to test both powerplants on the airframe. Ultimately, we decided to refit our 5 aircraft with the Aviadvigatel PS-90, due to the increase in range and the Rolls Royce engines went to the 757. The plane is fitted with our two class interior consisting of our Business Class and Traveler class, and our passengers like it for its roomy interior. Its mainly used for our stopover flights on a few of our routes. The plane has uprated avionics and is fitted with rough terrain capability as standard. It’s a good, reliable plane, with a good safety record overall among the type. And thanks to our maintenance procedures, it has been kept to the highest standards of safety along with the rest of our fleet. All aircraft have WiFi as standard for complete communication with the ground for businessmen on the plane, or just for entertainment on laptops, or cellular devices. Amenities for the travelling passenger are offered. Blankets and pillows are provided at passenger request. The fly-by-wire systems and glass cockpits onboard make the workload on our pilots much easier on the flights. There are personal reading lamps at each seat, regardless of class, and plenty of legroom unlike most airlines that have cramped seats. Ilyushin IL-62
Image
Northern Airways is proud to take on this classic airliner into our fleet. Originally looked at when we heard of several aircraft going up for bids, we originally opted to take on the Tupolev TU-154, but those sparked a bidding war with several airlines, including Northern Airways. We saw that no airline was looking into the IL-62, so we pounced on the 14 aircraft, procuring them all. We placed orders for 2 more from Sparrow Aviation, and took on a further 2 from Interflug, bringing the total fleet to 18. The aircraft are used in an As-needed basis, most are in our storage yard. 4 aircraft are currently in active service on our rough terrain destinations. They can be chartered out for air shows and military use. We look forward to long service with these aircraft and having all put into service in the near future. Configured to seat 186 in a single class layout in our Traveler Class, these aircraft have proven to be favorites amongst die hard aviation enthusiasts. Amenities are somewhat scarce on this aircraft, due to it being older, but it still has a few features. WiFi as standard, and takeoff views installed, projected on LCD screens overhead. These aircraft have been configured with ample legroom as well. The cockpit is modified, with a few modern assists to the pilots, but it retains most of the traditional analogue flight instruments. By modern standards, this plane may be behind the times, but to aviation enthusiasts, this aircraft is a perfect addition into our fleet. Along with the traveler class interior, there are personal reading lamps at each seat and plenty of legroom unlike most airlines that have cramped seats. In-flight movies are also offered on our flights, thanks to the latest technology in in-flight entertainment. Passengers can be assured of the best possible service across the whole fleet, and the amenities on each aircraft lessen the burden of long distance travelling. Aircraft are fitted with comfortable space, seating, and legroom.

Hubs
Image
Northern Airways conducts most, if not all of its flight operations out of two airports in The Dreamliners. They are the two gateways for the airline to reach the far reaches of the globe with both passengers and freight. They also serve as gateways for the Northern Airways subsidiaries, mainly Northern Cargo, Northern Shuttle and Northern Cityline, which run services into the nation as well out of both airports. Both hubs are bustling places of activity for the airline with daily flight operations and both are listed below. There are also two focus cities Northern Airways flies to, also listed below. The two hubs are:

Paradise Gate International Airport (PGI) (HUB)
Image
Paradise Gate International Airport serves the capital of the Dreamliners, Lexian. As one of the hubs for Northern Airways and Northern Cargo, the airport is quite large with 5 runways and 3 terminals, 2 large cargo areas and a tarmac ramp for domestic flights, the airport is quite the hub for activity. Gates are assigned on priority, so it’s first come, first serve. Most gates are for Northern Airways planes, with a few gates reserved for international and codeshared flights of other airlines. Several maintenance hangars are also on the airport grounds for Northern Airways planes and are run by Northern Engineering. Aircraft repainting can also be done at these maintenance facilities. Northern Airways runs operations around the clock, mostly daylight operations and the occasional redeye flight. All runways have ILS capability, with runways O5 and 06L have CAT III ILS capability. The remainder have CAT I ILS capability but are due to be upgraded to CAT III standard. The airport can handle any commercial plane up to the A380 superjumbo jet. The airport has 117 gates, plus 20 tarmac stands, bringing gate capacity to 137. Overflow capacity flights that can’t land at PGI are diverted to GIA (Gateway International Airport) and then are given priority landing when they return to PGI as their final destination. Cargo flights for Northern Airways run both cargo areas at the airport.
Image
(Passengers walking through the 'Arch')
It is quite a large and busy airport and Northern Airways Gateway to the International market. It also is the main hub and base of Operations for Northern Flight, which operates the Government fleet. Ground transport is offered at the airport, by means of Rail to downtown, Taxi service, bus lines to the city from the airport, and shuttle service from the airport to the parking garages, to metro rail service as needed. Car rental is offered at the parking garages on level 1 adjacent to the terminals.

Dreamliner International Airport (DLI) (HUB)
Image
Dreamliner International Airport serves St. Joseph, the second largest city in The Dreamliners. It is also the second hub for Northern Airways and Northern Cargo. With three runways, it’s not as large as Paradise Gate International Airport. It has 80 gates in 2 terminals compared to the 137 at PGI, but there are several tarmac stands that make up for the capacity used for domestic flights. There are 6 stands by Terminal 2 and the remainder are at the south end of the field, at the Domestics terminal which has another 10 stands for 737 aircraft. There are talks to expand further with terminal expansions and perhaps another runway in due time. Gates are on a first come, first serve basis, similar to PGI, but DLI handles strictly Northern Airways flights with 4 gates available for codeshared flights with other airlines.
Image
(One of Northern Airways new A340-200 Airliners on delivery)
The runways all have ILS capability and can handle the A380 superjumbo. The longest runway has ILS CAT IIIa available and the remainder are due to be upgraded to CAT IIIa as standard. There are cargo facilities used by Northern Cargo and 2 hangars for Northern Engineering that can also handle aircraft painting. Ground transport is offered at the airport, by means of airport shuttle linking the two main terminals and the train station for rail service to downtown. Taxi service is also available, as are bus lines to the city from the airport, and shuttle service from the airport to the parking garages as needed. Car rental is offered at the airport by means of an off-site facility that can be accessed by bus from the airport, and is the first stop on the bus route.

Arthropol City International Airport (ARM) (FOCUS CITY)
Image
Arthropol City International Airport is the main airport serving Arthropol City, the biggest and capital city of Arthropol and a Focus City for Northern Airways as well as a hub for Arthropol Airlines, a close partner of Northern Airways. It is situated on an island, off the coast of Arthropol City, and is the main airport serving the region of Province Capitale. The airport itself is quite large, with 5 terminals and 4 runways. Constructed in 2005 to replace the old airport serving Arthropol City, the current airport handles the passenger numbers the old one could not. Northern Airways flies here as a focus city, and is one of the most popular routes Northern flies, hailed as the "Gateway to Europe". Northern also flies domestic destinations to and from Arthropol City International Airport on codeshared flights with Arthropol Airlines. All runways at Arthropol City International Airport have ILS CAT IIIb capability and can handle aircraft up to the A380 superjumbo. Ground transport is offered, and due to its location, it is easily accessible to Arthropol City via car, bus or metro.

Gateway International Airport (GWI) (AUXILIARY HUB)
Image
(Gateway at night)
Gateway International Airport is a large international airport a short distance away from the capital of Lexian. It is the newest airport in the nation and is a primary international gateway for foreign airlines flying into the nation. It also serves as a secondary hub for Northern Airways, and a scheduled stop for Northern Shuttle. It has 3 terminals with 132 gates and 6 runways to handle any aircraft up to the Antonov AN-225 heavy freighter. It can handle planes on regular passenger service, such as the 747 and A380 and the airport itself handles a variety of international carriers and is expected to grow in passenger travel over the coming years. Thanks to its size, it can do so with minimal difficulty and the runways make it easy to do so, due to them being uniform in length and width. Any variety of plane can be handled here, from the A318, to the AN-225 and all of them in between. Due to it being a gateway for foreign airlines (hence the name), Northern Airways has a small footprint here, but does operate services, mainly diversion flights from PGI and scheduled Northern Shuttle service. Northern Airways uses Gateway as a secondary hub to allow for flights to divert from Paradise Gate International Airport at peak times. Gates are assigned to airlines who schedule services to Gateway, so it is orderly for foreign carriers.
Image
All runways have ILS CAT III capability and runway 34L/16R is the longest in the nation, allowing for fully laden planes to take off with relative ease. And due to where the airport is placed, it can be expanded in the future, should the situation demand it. Airlines from across the globe operate services out of Gateway, bringing with them a variety of planes in their respected liveries for the airlines they operate for. A complete list of airlines operating out of Gateway can be found here: www.GatewayInternational.com

Freighter Fleet
Image
Our freighter fleet, flying as Northern Cargo, is a major contribution to our success and has the highest satisfaction among our clients. They can transport anything that needs to go from one place to another by air, and we have the hardware to do so with relative ease. The freighter fleet consists of 4 types of freighters with several more on order, and two of a new type have just been introduced into service in time for the holiday freight season. When the full freighter fleet is introduced, it would bring us to various freighters of 13 types. The aircraft are of various ages, but all run in peak condition thanks to Northern Engineering. Without the freighter fleet we wouldn't be where we are today as a major international passenger and freight airline. The freighters run cargo to many destinations, if not all of them on our international route network. The planes themselves can be chartered out to any client to any destination, or to any airline wanting to start freight operations on a tight budget. If you have cargo to be shipped, Northern Cargo is your way to ship it there. The fleet as it currently is consists of:
(Includes undelivered aircraft and orders)
2x Airbus Airbus A300B4-608ST (2 in service, 0 due)
17x Airbus A300B4-603 (0 in service, 17 due)

Boeing 727-200(A)(F) Freighter
Image
Northern Airways runs 8 of these reliable workhorse aircraft on our domestic freighter routes, running domestic freight and postage. The 727-200 freighter is what got Northern Cargo off the ground, running routes in the current domestic market and some charters, both civilian and military. The planes were acquired from several airlines secondhand and were converted to freight transport. They may be seriously getting up there in age all above 30 years old, but with an extensive MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) program in place, the planes are kept in excellent mechanical condition overall, regardless of the age. Cargo is loaded into 12 88” x 125” cargo containers and loaded onto the plane. They can handle a variety of cargo on the domestic network, both in cargo containers or on specialized flat pallets for cargo that won’t fit into the standard cargo containers. Livestock and animal transport is one of the missions these planes perform and can be pressurized to atmospheric pressure similar to a typical passenger airliner. The engines themselves may be old by today’s standards but they have been modified to current emissions and noise standards, running Stage Three hushkits to comply with set regulations. When the noise control standards change again, and no suitable modification can be found, the planes will be given a dignified retirement to either flight schools or aircraft museums. Over the course of their time in service thus far, the planes were modified for rough field capability with low pressure tires for rough and unprepared airstrips in the northern regions of the nation and with these modifications, they are a vital backbone to flying cargo to those regions, where freight transport by road is extremely difficult. The 727-200 freighters are valuable and prized additions to our fleet and meet strict noise regulations, ensuring we keep these freighters in cargo hauling service long into the coming future.

Boeing 767-300ER Freighter
Image
This plane is our primary freighter for our long range routes that stretch beyond the 727-200’s fuel range and it is our primary freighter in the Northern Cargo fleet. Running 22 planes, it allows us to expand our freight operations from simple domestic and mail courier service, which the 727s operate to this day, to international service with a variety of long haul routes, transporting freight anywhere in the globe. Originally acquired to support our 727-200 freighters, we saw the added range and immediately started freight operations to international destinations, proving to be quite a success. Running similar range to the passenger 767-300ER that Northern Airways currently runs, we know how far the plane can go, and with refueling stops, can reach anywhere in the globe. With the exact same flight deck as the passenger 767, crews can be certified on both freight and passenger operations, giving us greater flexibility with our flight crews on an as needed basis.
Image
It hauls anything that can fit in the cargo hold from boxes of roses, shrimp, seafood or anything small that can be loaded into 88” x 125” cargo containers, to large items loaded on the main deck on specialized flat pallets such as turboprop engines, propellers, furniture, automotive components and sub assemblies. Fragile items are loaded into the underfloor cargo holds in LD2 Unit Load Devices or specially padded 88” x 125” cargo containers to be loaded on the main deck. The cargo deck is pressurized to atmospheric pressure as on a passenger airliner and it can be configured to carry animals such as dogs, cats, birds and housepets to large animals like cows, horses and other animals and livestock that need to go from Point A to Point B by air transport. Standard loading for full cargo transport is 24 88” x 125” cargo containers on the main deck and 30 LD2 Unit Load Devices in the underfloor cargo hold. This is our primary long range workhorse on our cargo routes and we plan to run the planes in cargo service for a long time in the future. The freight market will not be disappearing any time soon. One currently serves as the testbed for the EAAP (Enhanced Aircraft and Avionics Package) system under development by Northern Engineering.

Boeing 747 LCF
Image
The Boeing 747 LCF Dreamlifter (Large Cargo Freighter) is a first for Northern Airways and is our freighter crown jewel. Designed off of the 747-400 to carry outsized cargo, the plane has the largest cargo hold of any aircraft in service at 65,000 cubic feet of cargo space, even more cargo space than the Antonov AN-124 and the Antonov AN-225 and can hold three times more cargo than a 747-400 Freighter, at the cost of reduced range. Boeing originally designed the plane to specifically haul prefabricated components for their 787 Dreamliner (which we run in our mainline fleet), but we knew the plane had greater use than hauling aircraft parts so we attempted to place orders for the planes ourselves, without much success. After hours of negotiations, we managed to procure 2 planes initially, and we have received another 4 since then, bringing the fleet of LCF Dreamlifters to 6 planes total. The planes were converted from standard 747-400 aircraft and were delivered within a suitable timeframe.
Image
The LCF has proven itself in partnership services with Avalon Launch Services, hauling rocketry components for the company, and we had ordered 4 more conversions afterwards. We have put it to use with large cargo since its acquisition, from housing sections, wing components, turbofan engines, urgent supplies in emergencies, large equipment, and anything large that can fit into the plane’s monstrous hold that wouldn’t fit in a standard freighter and would take too long to ship by land and marine methods. Only our best 747 crews fly the plane and are trained to handle the plane with the upmost care and professionalism as it is larger than a standard 747 aircraft. Our crews have stated that even though the plane is larger than a standard jet, it is still relatively easy to fly and responds well to control input from the pilots. It is a beautiful plane and a truly miraculous feat of engineering. When the planes won’t be flying outsized cargo, we offer tours on the LCF to let people experience the size of the cargo hold firsthand. We plan to keep these planes in the Northern fleet for as long as we possibly can which we hope is 60 years plus and we never plan to sell or retire the planes. For as long as there is outsized cargo, this plane will be the one to do the job. We are perhaps the only airline in Nationstates that runs the Boeing 747 LCF Dreamlifter.

Airbus A300-600ST "Beluga"
Image
The A300-600ST Beluga is one of the many additions to our freighter fleet. We procured it as an addition to our heavylift services alongside our Dreamlifter freighters. These aircraft were from a request for new freighters and from freight services run by Pacifican Airways. Designed originally to carry outsized cargo and to replace the ‘Super Guppies’; Boeing Stratocruisers from the 1940s that had been converted with custom fuselages and the adoption of turbine engines to carry large volume loads for NASA's space program in the 1960s of which one currently remains in service today. They were designed off the basic A300-600 airframe and could handle items such as wing and fuselage components for Airbus Industries in their manufacturing process of new planes. We saw new potential for the ‘Beluga’ freighters as they are known by.
Image
We ordered 2 of them from Airbus directly and as soon as they were delivered, we placed them into service and they have performed flawlessly in Northern Cargo service since their acquisition. They have a monstrous hold, not as large as the 747 LCF but large nonetheless and cargo is loaded through the forward door so there is no swing tail, unlike the Super Guppy or 747 LCF. Due to its smaller size, the plane relies on 2 engines instead of 4 but that also means that weight hauling is limited also range is reduced when loaded as the plane has to burn more fuel to get airborne. It is manned by a 2 man flight crew, same as our other planes in the fleet, excluding the 727-200 freighters. We use it to transport outsized cargo alongside our Dreamlifter freighters and it has proven to be very adept to even hauling oddly shaped cargo like big air conditioning units for office complexes or hospitals, large air tanks, medical tools and supplies, excavating and construction tools and supplies, whatever needs hauling that a standard freighter cannot haul, the Dreamlifter and Beluga are your two choices at Northern Cargo.

(The first MD-11ER(F) fresh from conversion for Northern Cargo)
Northern Cargo procured this aircraft type from Arthropol Airlines, who was retiring them from passenger service. We in turn decided to pick up the 15 planes and convert them into freighters. Conversions of this aircraft type had been performed before with other airlines around the world, and the aircraft had proven itself adept to freight hauling. After securing the planes, they went to Northern Engineering for repainting and conversion, in which all are now in active service with Northern Cargo. These planes are equipped with 3 GE CF6-80C2D1F turbofan engines and capable of a range of 7,240 nmi (13,410 km) with a max payload in the ER variant, which is what is currently operated.
Image
The plane can carry 26 standard 88” x 125” cargo containers on the main deck, or flat pallets for bulky cargo. It can also carry 32 LD3 cargo containers in the lower hold. The main deck can be converted to carry livestock and the hold can be pressurized as such to permit such operations. This aircraft type, same as with the other aircraft in the Northern Cargo fleet, have advanced fire suppression and depressurization systems, capable of thoroughly suppressing a cargo fire before any serious damage can be done. Recently, Northern Cargo tried procuring more of the MD-11 aircraft type, 35 to be exact, from airline partner Air Atlantique, but their airframes were in disrepair and they decided to keep 2 as freighters themselves. The remaining 33 airframes were disassembled, but we took on all the removable parts that were possible to take off, cockpit consoles, engines, flaps, landing gear, spoilers, slats, etc. We took every component possible off the MD-11s that Air Atlantique disassembled, essentially picking them clean. Thanks to that, we have enough spare parts and components to keep our fleet of 15 MD-11ER(F) aircraft in service for a long time ahead. Parts replaced would be refurbished and rebuilt, for future use on the MD-11 fleet, thanks to Northern Engineering. This plane, once all 15 planes are introduced and integrated, will remain in service for years to come.

Stored Fleet
Northern Airways ran several aircraft types before mainstreaming the fleet, and most of the aircraft removed from service are in storage, still in Northern Airways liveries and colors, with passenger interiors still in place. The stored aircraft are never going for disassembley or scrapping, but are kept in a storage condition until the time when the aircraft are needed or chartered out for use. Some are even used as trainers for pilots and flight crews. The aircraft are also available for wet lease, dry lease or AMCI services. Our stored fleet consists of the following aircraft types:
Airbus A320
McDonnell Douglas MD-80
McDonnell Douglas MD-90 (Possible Reintroduction to Northern Shuttle)
Boeing 747-200
Boeing 747-300
Boeing 737-300 (Possible Reintroduction to Northern Shuttle)
Tupolev TU-154
Ilyushin IL-62 (12 currently)

Maintenance
Image
Maintenance for our planes and various fleets from other airlines are handled by our Maintenance subsidiary Northern Engineering at its facilities at Dreamliner International Airport, Paradise Gate International Airport, and various other maintenance facilities across the nation. They can handle anything from basic inspection, to a full aircraft rebuild, on any aircraft that graces the skies today. These services can be performed on any aircraft in any operation, including private aviation, corporate jets, experimental planes, freighters, passenger airliners, old retired airliners, museum planes, WWII fighters and bombers, the list goes on. If it flies in the skies, Northern Engineering can keep it in the air. Our maintenance procedures are quite extensive with every plane being put under strict maintenance regulations to ensure the highest standards of safety to both our passengers and clients. Services also include engine rebuilding and overhaul, engine changes, aircraft reconfiguration, repainting, and conversions. Examples of services performed by Northern Engineering are listed below.
An A Check is the simplest of aircraft inspection and maintenance that Northern Engineering performs. The maintenance checks itself usually occur at 400-600 flight hour intervals or 200-300 flight cycles, depending on aircraft type and date of manufacture. The time frame for one of these checks is approximately 50-70 man hours, 10 of which involve the plane in a hangar. A Check maintenance schedules are determined by several factors, including aircraft type, cycle count, hours flown since last check, and general age since manufacture. A Check maintenance can be delayed if certain parameters are met that necessitate a delay, such as aircraft replacement on a flight, flight schedule, or location of the particular plane. All checks are logged for each plane from entry into service, to exit of service, either Northern Airways and its subsidiaries to other fleets in airline service.

A B Check is more extensive than an A Check, generally requiring the plane to be taken out of service for 1-3 days, sometimes 5 days to perform the B Check in its entirety. This type of check takes approximately 160-180 man hours to complete, sometimes longer, based on aircraft type. B Check schedules usually follow the same time frame as the A Check schedule, and are based off the same parameters including aircraft type, cycle count, hours flown since last check, and general age since manufacture. Delays in B Check schedules are only permitted under extenuating circumstances, but in most cases, B Checks are performed as scheduled. However, B Checks can be incorporated into successive A Checks. For example, A-1 through A-10 Checks cover all B Check items, and technically count as A B Check on the maintenance logs.

A C Check is more thorough than both an A Check and B Check combined. Usually requiring 1-2 weeks, and upwards of 6,000 man hours, it is one of the more extensive checks. The C Check requires a majority of the aircraft’s external and internal components to be inspected thoroughly and in some cases rebuilt as well. This check puts the aircraft out of service and the plane cannot leave the maintenance site until the check is completed. It requires more space than an A or B check and a C Check is generally performed at a maintenance facility. The check itself is performed every 20-24 months or a specific amount of flight hours as determined by the manufacturer. C Check schedules are determined by certain parameters including aircraft type, cycle count since last check, and general age since manufacture, but are governed by specific flight hours determined by the manufacturer. C Check schedules vary by aircraft type and category of service the plane is in.

A D Check is the most demanding, thorough, and comprehensive maintenance visit a plane can receive. This check occurs approximately every six years, depending on hours flown, cycles completed, and age since manufacture. It is otherwise known as a Heavy Maintenance Visit or Aircraft Rebuild. The Check itself usually requires the whole aircraft to be disassembled for inspection, repair and overhaul, essentially rebuilding the plane from the ground up. It is the longest of maintenance checks due to the extent of inspection and overhaul and usually requires the plane to be removed from service for up to 2 months, and such a check can take up to 50,000 man hours depending on the aircraft and number of maintenance technicians involved for such a task. Because of the time needed, and the costs associated, D Checks are usually scheduled years in advance and most airlines usually store or scrap their planes by the time the next D Check comes, or when costs to maintain outweigh the aircraft’s value. Given the requirements of the D Check, airlines use this time to either overhaul their interiors, make cabin modifications, or reconfigure the aircraft seating as they see fit. It makes more sense to reconfigure the plane during a D Check than reconfiguring the plane while not under inspection. Northern Cargo’s fleet of 727-200 freighters have gone through 6-7 D Checks since manufacture.

Northern Engineering does handle aircraft engine changes and technicians are thoroughly experienced in all three major engine manufacturers, Pratt & Whitney, General Electric, and Rolls Royce, as well as CFM International, IAE, Engine Alliance, and others. Engine changes can be performed at airline request or at every 3,000-5,000 flight hours, known as Time Between Overhaul.
Image
(Examples of engines in operation on an A330 from all three major manufacturers)
It is a time 'recommended' by the manufacturer and, depending upon what rules the aircraft operates under, overhauling the engine at the overhaul time is not necessarily mandatory but is recommended. Engine changes vary by aircraft type and service used, and changing the engines typically is a 6 hour job on a 777 for example, but it is sometimes longer, depending on what problems or issues may arise. Most engine changes usually take 7 hours to complete, including inspection, preparing the old engine to ship, paper work involved, etc but it usually takes 6 hours and sometimes more for the actual engine change itself. Standard ballpark times go for the aircraft intended. When the aircraft engine is replaced, the old engine is sent to the engine shop for complete tear-down and rebuild, in which the engine is completely disassembled and inspected. Parts and components are refurbished before reinstalled on the engine it was removed off of. The engines, while disassembled in the engine shop are inspected thoroughly and meticulously and every detail is scrutinized. Once the engine passes inspections and thoroughly overhauled, the engine is placed on a test rig and run to make sure it meets operating parameters set by the manufacturer before being shipped back to the maintenance hangar to be placed on another plane for operational service. (Example of 777-200 Engine Change)

When D Checks are finished, or an aircraft is changing airlines, aircraft repainting is usually done before the plane enters or returns to service. Northern Engineering handles the aircraft repainting, in liveries specified by the customers for either leases, aircraft being sold from one airline to another, or reapplication of a livery. Repainting can be done in any form the customer requires, even detailed liveries, like landscapes on the fuselage of a plane. A few of the Special Liveries done for Northern Airways are just examples of what Northern Engineering can do for aircraft repainting. The only factor to be considered in repainting a plane is time, size, and complexity of the livery, but it can be done. Northern Engineering is currently repainting several planes destined for Northern Airways at its various maintenance and painting facilities throughout the nation. To repaint a 757-200 for example, takes approximately a week, but we have shortened the process with more manpower at our repainting facilities and the ability to crank out 2 planes at once. Depending on the size of the plane, sometimes more than 2 can be painted at once. An example of a 777 undergoing repainting

Northern Engineering also handles aircraft conversions, taking any plane and converting either the interior or exterior to what the customer requires. (For example: A Boeing 767-300ER into a 767-300F(ER) freighter) Interior conversions can be done, as well as hull conversions, but it depends on what the customer requires. Passenger conversions can be done, as well as freighter conversions and on occasion, engine conversions as well. For example, an airline wants a 767 that was acquired, reconfigured to their standard configuration. It can be done, but it all depends on time and how extensive the conversion is. Passenger to freighter conversions are simpler by means of hull conversions, as it only requires strengthening the floor, blanking the windows and installing a side freight door. Other conversions include passenger to combi conversions, passenger to QC (Quick Change) conversions, and others, depending on customer request.

There are those situations where an aircraft is damaged, either by maintenance, faulty components, or just plain bad luck. In those instances, the aircraft does end up damaged, either minor, or severely. Northern Engineering can make the best attempt at repairing the plane to airworthy status, regardless of the damage sustained. One example is Project Phoenix, a 787-8 acquired from Air Atlantique that was severely damaged by fire in an unfortunate maintenance incident.
Image
(An example of aircraft repair on a 777-200ER)
The plane was withdrawn from service due to the subsequent fire sustained. After overlooking the damage, the plane was deemed structurally sound and the damage could be repaired and the engineers and maintenance techs began working. Once repaired and tested, the plane will enter service as the “Phoenix”, a name aptly fitting for a plane that suffered damage like this. Another example is an A330-301 from Air Inter that was in service when it suffered an uncontained engine failure. The engine failure damaged the engine casing and wing leading edge, making the aircraft be withdrawn from service until it was either sold, broken up, or repaired. That was before Northern Airways took it on and Northern Engineering got to work. The damage was isolated, and it will be repaired before that plane enters service. Aircraft of varying damage severity have been repaired before and Northern Engineering can repair hull breaches, fire damage, electrical damage, wing damage, tail empenage damage (Rudder, elevators, etc.), engine damage (Pylon, wing root, etc), hydraulic system damage, landing gear damage, the list goes on. Northern Engineering can repair damage, even going so far as a complete aircraft rebuild, should the situation require it. We will do our best to make the plane airworthy again, regardless of the damage sustained or time taken to repair it.

Services
Northern Airways has the services to take care of its customers. From earning miles to lounges, Northern Airways is truly a cut above. Our rewards and miles program and our lounge service at the airport is what customers like, because our lounge services were based on customer input. Input is how we at Northern Airways can be sure we offer the best service to our passengers, whether be in the air, or on the ground.
Northern Airways does have a frequent flyer program for its customers, known as NorthernMiles. Customers can get miles from either purchases, if they opt for the credit card option, or airline flights obtaining miles from their airline credit card, or the miles rewards program. The credit card program is set into 4 different levels, bronze, silver, gold and platinum. Currently the credit card program is being overhauled, thanks to Bank of the Atlantic based in Argentinstan. More details will follow along at a later time.

At most of our destinations and our home base of Dreamliner International Airport, there is the NorthernClub lounge.
Image
The lounge is for the NorthernMiles customers, but paying customers, airline passengers or otherwise can use the lounge as well, for a small fee if they so choose. What makes the NorthernClub lounge different is the amenities available. Standard amenities are a full service bar and snack area, along with private meeting rooms, telephones, wireless internet access, a small library and other amenities.
Image
One such extra amenity is our barber shop, for passengers or customers who are in a rush to get to the airport. Customers can get haircuts and clean, hot towel shaves. Another extra amenity is our massage parlor for passengers who are stressed out or are stuck on a layover and want to relax. For long range international arrivals, the lounge has an arrivals area where passengers can freshen up, relax, or catch a few hours rest before continuing onward with their day.

Subsidiaries
Northern Airways, being the largest airline in The Dreamliners, does have subsidiaries to expand into the industry. They are:

Northern Shuttle
IATA: NS
ICAO: NTS
Callsign: Shuttle
Northern Shuttle is the domestic, non international branch of Northern Airways. It offers routine shuttle service to various airports and airfields throughout The Dreamliners, utilizing Boeing 737-700 aircraft on those routes, and is starting to integrate Boeing 757-200 airliners into the Shuttle routes within the Dreamliners. Flights originate out of both our hubs and head throughout the country on shuttle flights, usually lasting anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour or more in the air, landing at the airports to pick up passengers and bring them to the hubs to hop connecting flights to their destinations and such. Northern Shuttle has one of the lowest delay counts than most other domestic and shuttle airlines, with flights departing with a 98% on time rating, with most departing on time, or a few minutes behind their departure time. If an aircraft cannot depart, the passengers are placed on another aircraft and depart for their destinations as scheduled, albeit delayed. The fleet consists of Boeing 737-700 airliners configured to seat 140 in an all economy setup, and it works well for our domestic flights in the network. Northern Shuttle is also procuring Boeing 737-400 planes and reintroducing Boeing 737-300 planes for Shuttle service in an all economy layout with open seating. Recently the Boeing 757-200 entered domestic service, using older aircraft withdrawn from mainline international service and that weren’t converted to freighters for domestic service. The cabins are converted to the Tourist Class arrangement, which is all economy in the 737-700 and a 2 Class arrangement in the 757-200 in case the planes are requested for mainline service again. Recently, Northern Airways has purchased 15 737-700s for Northern Shuttle and 35 757-200 airliners for both domestic and mainline service in the airline. Also Airbus A320 planes are also being introduced as well as well as a possible reintroduction of the McDonnell Douglas MD-90 planes.

Callsign: Northern Cargo
Northern Cargo is the freight division of Northern Airways, and they run the Northern Airways freighter fleet of Boeing 727-200 freighters, 767-300ER freighters, Boeing 757-200 freighters, Boeing 747 LCF planes, Airbus A300-600ST Beluga freighters and Genesis GA72 Mystic II freighters. They have provided the backbone of Dreamlinersian freight logistics with postage, manufacturing and various other freight services, both within the nation and on the international market. The freighters are designed to take on any freight task, from boxes of delicate roses, to rocket components worth millions of dollars and any object in between that needs to go from point A to point B by air. The planes are manned by crews that are trained to the same standards as the crews operating the passenger planes. The freighters can also be chartered out by airlines or clients for any duration of time.

Northern Flight
IATA: -
ICAO: DGT
Callsign: Dreamliner
Northern Airways runs a small subsidiary for the Dreamlinersian Government and heads of state, operating their planes as Northern Flight. The fleet consists of two 747-400 aircraft, two Ilyushin IL-62 planes, one Boeing 737-700, one McDonnell Douglas MD-83, two A340-500 series planes (On Order) and two more planes. The best and most experienced crews fly these planes on behalf of the government and the fleet are maintained to the highest standards of safety and reliability. As to prevent confusion between the Government planes and the rest of the Northern fleet, they are assigned a different ICAO code (DGT) and a different callsign (Dreamliner). The first 747, registered A9-001, is the oldest in the government fleet and has been kept in service in the government for the past 7 years as the main presidential plane and is still sporting the original Government colors from when it began government service. The plane is outfitted with a full VIP interior, rivaling some of the finest luxury private jets in the skies today. Not bad for a 747 that began as a passenger jet and is larger than a football field.

Regardless of damage, Northern Engineering will do their best to make the plane flyable again.

Northern Legacy
IATA: NL
ICAO: NTL
Callsign: Legacy
Northern Legacy is a subsidiary of Northern Airways, but specializing in older aircraft retired from other fleets. A few examples of Northern Legacy aircraft are the Boeing 747-200 and Boeing 747-300 planes retired from Mainline service. Northern Legacy offers services both for the mainline, charter, freighter, and shuttle service. Planes in legacy service can be chartered out for any event or lease duration. Northern Legacy was started as a way to bring back the old days of air travel, before modern technology came into play, and as a way to integrate old and new technology. Aircraft in Northern Legacy are from other fleets, and are much older, some even approaching the end of their service life in other airlines but thanks to Northern Engineering, these planes will have a new lease on life. Northern Legacy maintains the same IATA code, but ICAO code is NTL and the callsign is Legacy. Any aircraft can be sold to Northern Legacy on this storefront: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=428761

Northern Cityline
IATA: NH
ICAO: NTH
Callsign: Hopper

It allows for Northern flights into small airports that can handle small planes where the 737 series won’t exactly fit. Northern Cityline mainly operates connection services to airports where Northern Airways or Northern Shuttle operates. Out of the major hubs of Lexian and St. Joseph, Northern Cityline operates connection services to several smaller cities and towns. One example of a Northern Cityline route is Lexian to Evergreen Ridge, a trip that would usually take 3 hours and 30 minutes by road, is cut down to a little under an hour by air via Northern Cityline. It services many of the small routes where Northern Shuttle does not operate, or where it cannot operate due to either size restraints or length of available runway. Aircraft registered to Northern Cityline are marked as A9-H, and the fleet roster shows 40 active planes in the fleet. It maintains the same IATA code, but ICAO code is NTH and the callsign is Hopper.

Northern Executive
IATA: -
ICAO: NTE

Think you have a jet to sell us, just notify us with general specifications. Application for Northern Executive is below. (Application currently being made)

Northern Cruises
IATA: -
ICAO: -
Callsign: -
Northern Cruises is the luxury Air Cruise division of Northern Airways. This is a new and experimental division that uses a secondhand Silver Surfer Airship from Dynamic Motors, PPC Private Public Consortium. The airship has retained the name "Silver Maiden" and the airship is quite large. The airship will be used for luxury cruises between North America and Europe, as well as transpacific trips. Need a relaxing cruise in the air, Northern Cruises is the way to go.

Air Vamenlac
IATA: AV
ICAO: AVC
Callsign: Vamenlac
Not long ago, Northern Airways bought out Air Vamenlac, the largest airline and flag carrier of Vamenlac. Originally, the plan was to repaint all the airline's planes in Northern Airways colors and integrate them into our fleet, but we didn't want to ruin Vamenlac's tourism and aviation industry. To remedy that issue, we decided to make Air Vamenlac a subsidiary, and keep it in the nation. The whole fleet is being overhauled and modernized to meet current aviation standards. The airline will continue operating, as a wholly owned subsidiary of Northern Airways. (Storefront Underway)

Crews
Image
Our crews that man our planes are some of the best in the industry, and they maintain our standard of passenger comfort and passenger safety as well and can handle any emergency that may arise in flight or on the ground. Due to this rigorous training for both cabin and flight crews, they allow Northern Airways to maintain a perfect safety record, with no accidents or fatalities to date, across the international fleet and all subsidiaries that Northern Airways operates in the skies today. It is this perfect safety record, as well as our compassion and professionalism that makes Northern Airways one of the best airlines in the sky. This compassion and professionalism is what makes Northern Airways a cut above the rest. Think you got what it takes to fly for Northern Airways as either a part of our flight crew or cabin crew?

Our planes are piloted by the best flight crews the industry has to offer. They are trained to handle any emergency that may arise. Some examples being: fuel starvation, water landing, fire on board, one engine missing, loss of hydraulics, unruly passenger, and even some unheard of emergencies, including flying blind with no instruments, volcanic ash, blind landing, etc. Training is performed quite extensively, to cover any scenario that may arise from normal flight operation. New pilots either fresh out of flight school or the air force with hours under their belt can apply. Once accepted, their training begins with regional services with Northern Cityline under the guidance of senior flight crew, both in the actual planes and the simulators, to get acclimated to commercial flying which takes anywhere from 6 months to a year. After getting acclimated, they can choose which subsidiary in Northern Airways to fly for. Once their choice is made and depending on which subsidiary, which aircraft type as well, they are then trained on simulators and actual planes of that subsidiary and aircraft type they have selected, under the guidance of senior flight crew of that subsidiary and type, which takes three months. Then there is an assessment by a senior captain and then a first officer commission with that subsidiary and aircraft type. From there, they build hours until promotion to captain. Flight crews are trained extensively, and thanks to that training, they can handle any situation that may arise in flight, both in the air and on the ground.

Our cabin crews are trained to provide passenger comfort as well as passenger safety. Upon application for cabin crew, new hires are trained on the crew training A300B4-601 aircraft at either DIA or PGI. For these crew simulations, regular people play as passengers on a fictional Northern Airways flight for 2 hours duration. Anyone can take part in these fictional flights. During these flights, cabin crews will be trained in the various emergencies that may arise in flight, from extremely rough turbulence, a medical emergency, fire on board, water landing, and other aircraft emergencies that may arise. Cabin crews are trained to evacuate a completely full jet airliner in 90 seconds. To keep up with modern safety standards, cabin crews will undergo assessment every 2 years to make sure they are able to handle emergencies on the plane. Cabin crews also under go our Emergency Landing course. The emergency landing course is where the flight attendants can successfully land the plane at the nearest airport if the pilots become incapacitated or disabled for any reason whatsoever. Our cabin crews are trained to the highest standards of passenger comfort and safety, whether in an emergency or not. Due to these strict standards, we have not suffered a single accident yet, and it has allowed us to maintain a perfect safety record.

Incidents
Northern Airways has a perfect safety record, not having a single fatality on any plane in the Northern Airways fleet, as well as its subsidiaries, however incidents are not uncommon to airlines, sometimes caused by a variety of causes. In the years since Northern Airways began service, these are the incidents that have occured.

Image
(The aircraft after the overrun)
On 12/18/17, a Northern Airways Boeing 747-400, registered A9-258, and performing flight NA-476 from Lexian to Arthropol City with 368 passengers aboard, had touched down on Arthropol City International Airport Runway 29L when the plane overran the runway and stopped just before the runway edge leading into the water with all gear on soft ground. The plane struck runway approach lights, leading to damage to the 747. Arthropol City International Airport closed the runway as a precaution. Passengers were safely evacuated with no injuries reported. Investigators from Northern Airways, the BEA and NTSB have been dispatched to the site and the occurrence has been rated an incident and an investigation has been opened. Details known so far are that weather and maintenance may have played an effect in this incident and the engines (RR RB211-524H-T) are currently being checked for any defects that may have caused the overrun. The flight crew is not to blame in this incident. While the investigation takes place, a 777-200ER will be dispatched on the route to handle flights from Lexian to Arthropol City. The cause has since been found for the Northern Airways Flight 476 overrun. The overrun was caused by a component failure in the throttle console. The electrical relays to the reversers shorted out, popping the fuses without crew knowledge. Upon discovery, the other 747s in the Northern airways fleet were inspected thoroughly and checked out with flying colors. This component failure appears to be isolated, and the faulty component has been replaced. With the new component installed, all 4 thrust reversers performed normally. The plane is undergoing repairs and will re-enter service in the near future.

On 12/19/17, a Northern Cargo Boeing 767-300F(ER) registered A9-??? performing flight NC-209 from Occhenfjord to Lexian suffered a ground collision with an Air New Doltania Britten Norman Islander that was arriving, as well as a fuel truck tending to the 767. The plane, with no freight aboard, suffered serious damage in the collision and 4 injuries were reported as well as one fatality which was the fueler. No Northern Airways employees or crew were injured in the incident. The Occhenfjord police, NTSB and Northern Airways have opened up an investigation into the incident and it had found that the driver of the fuel truck was at fault. He has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving (Vehicular homicide), operating on an airfield without due care and attention and driving without due care and attention. Northern Airways maintains its safety record as the fatality was not aboard the plane. After the investigation, the 767 freighter was repaired and subsequently returned to service.

On 5/10/18 A Northern Shuttle Boeing 737-700, registered A9-30029, performing domestic flight NS-2290 from Zenith Valley Airport to Dreamliner International Airport (The Dreamliners), was on approach to Dreamliner International Airport and had begun initial descent when there was a loud bang in the right (#2 CFM-56) engine, followed by loss of engine power. The crew declared emergency, advising tower of the engine failure, and shut the engine down as well as discharging the fire bottles as a precaution. The aircraft performed an emergency landing on runway 26L with emergency services on standby. Upon landing, the aircraft became disabled on the runway. Passengers were evacuated and bussed to the terminal and the aircraft was towed to the apron for thorough inspection. Possible cause of this engine failure is metal fatigue on the main fan, but a thorough investigation will be carried out regardless.

Investigators from the NTSB, Northern Airways, Boeing, and CFM have been dispatched to the plane to perform the investigation. The crew was not at fault for this accident and at the conclusion of the investigation, the plane will be repaired and returned to service.

Due to the recent accident aboard a similar 737-700 series plane, and a majority of the Northern Shuttle fleet running CFM-56 series engines, all engines on the fleet will be thoroughly inspected to ensure safety on the fleet. All CFM engines will be inspected within 30 days as a precaution and voluntary compliance with the FAA emergency airworthiness directive for similar aircraft and engines.

After through inspection of all engines in the Northern Shuttle fleet, this has appeared to be a isolated incident and no other engines show metal fatigue on any components and thus have been given the all clear by the DAA (Dreamlinersian Aviation Authority). Due to the nature of the incident however, maintenance practices and time-frames were changed to implement more Maintenance windows for engine inspection and overhaul. As an added precaution, Airbus A340-200 and -300 series aircraft in Northern Airways, also operating CFM engines have been inspected as well and have also been given the all clear by the DAA for service and they will maintain their current maintenance intervals for service.

On 5/26/18, a Northern Airways A330-200, registered A9-10286 performing flight NA-1030 from Los Angeles International Airport (USA) to Paradise Gate International Airport (The Dreamliners), was on takeoff from Los Angeles International Airport and had begun initial takeoff roll when there was a loud bang in the right (#2 Trent 772) engine, followed by loss of engine power. The plane was below V1 speed and safely stopped on the runway. The crew asked for a tow back to the gate and the runway was briefly closed for inspection of debris, which none was found. The runway was subsequently reopened.

A replacement A330-200, registered A9-10110 was dispatched to Los Angeles to take the passengers to Paradise Gate International Airport with a delay of 8 hours.

Investigators deemed this an incident and opened an investigation along with Northern Airways Investigators. The engine will be removed for inspection after a replacement is flown in on a Northern Cargo flight and the plane will be flown to Paradise Gate International Airport for re-entry into service. Compressor stall, Foreign Object Ingestion, or birdstrike are the probable causes of the malfunction. Further details will be released at the conclusion of investigation and inspection of the engine.

Destinations
Our route network is rather extensive, and growing. We fly both passengers and freight to a variety of airports on our routes. Our route map is a hub and spoke system until we can interlink the routes into the point to point system. With our variety of aircraft, both passenger and freight. It gives us a rather open doorway into the aviation market. The freighter fleet can be chartered by any client to any destination.

Dear Mr Joseph Bugaj,

After the delivery of the first A332, more of the aircraft you ordered from us have been painted in our paint shop at Toulouse-Blagnac Airport. The aircraft with that are painted include 5 A332's and 1 77W. However these aircraft are still painted with their original Arthropolian registration, and will require to be registered in your country, which will have to be painted on after. These aircraft can be delivered straight to your airport, or we can have a delivery ceremony at the airport. Please inform me if you need the use of our facilities to change the registration, and how you would like us to deliver the aircraft.
