Seventy: A Cup of Harmony Bid

Big Guns, Big Goals
An ESHAN/ DRAWKLAND Production
A 70th Cup of Harmony Bid

Football has been woven into the Echani DNA as long as anyone can remember or records have recorded. Nearly all Echani watch the nation's top league, the Seria-A, or playing in leagues of their own, all while cheering on the national team, currently ranked 42nd in the world and hopefully not competing in this tournament please Margaret. When it comes to international rivalries, Eshan’s fiercest rivals are Ethane, Erathore, Drawkland, Ceni, and Semarland and every clash between these nations and Eshan is sure to bring out the best in both the players and the fans.

Eshan is a rich, yet young nation rich in cultural diversity; while the nation is majority Echani, there are countless who come from abroad to make Eshan their home. With the 50th Presidential Elections on the horizon, the nation is satisfying their two biggest needs; football and politics. Being a group of islands, the nation is no stranger to the endless tourists, who like to frequent the beach or vastly differing environment on each of Eshan's islands. Many of the host cities have excellent shopping districts, and phenomenal public transportation systems to easily move visitors from the residential areas to the various match sites, shopping malls, heritage sites, and good old fashioned tourist traps and back again. The weather can and will be erratic at times, switching from bright and sunny to wet and windy in the matter of minutes along the coastal towns. Visiting fans need not fear; the Echani military is one of the largest and strongest in Atlantian Oceania and domestic police and counter-terror units will be increased and further deployed in and around event venues. More information on the specific islands and hosting locations will be provided as the vote concludes and the tournament nears kick-off.

Drawkland is mostly famous for being a massive nation, one that's the powerhouse of its planet/region, Sonnel. Economically, militarily, culturally, Drawkland is the hub (or as they prefer to call it, the nub) of it all. Encompassing an entire continent, the nation has almost every sort of environmental biome you can think of - and people who love living there. But what the people love more than the natural side of Drawkland? The sports side. Sports of all kind are contested among Drawkians, and it's one of the highlights of day-to-day life. You can see this by how the national teams excel, like the World Bowl Champion Grid Corps or the First Time Qualifying Kick Corps or the Perrenial Round of 16er Net Corps or the ... Base Corps, Which Exists We Guess.

Of course, you can't forget about Drawkland's rich history, either. The immortal 5 leaders of Drawkland, the main one being Iarocav, and the legends of old and reasonably recent are things every Drawkian is proud of. Outside of sporting, one of the biggest activities of Drawkland's citizenry is music - whether it be with a group or band, playing as an amateur among friends, producing electronically, busking on street corners or outside of stadiums, or simply just listening, the society is geared around a beat. The continent, as a whole, has a whole slew of weather conditions available, due in part to the varied environments, but for most areas, a warm, partly cloudy, occasionally windy climate is what you'll see on a day to day basis. The hosts cities are massive and have pretty much unlimited ways to spend your time outside of the matches - serviced by the various awesome transport options, but we'll talk more about those after voting and the tournament comes closer. And of course, Drawkland's military is another prideful point of the nation. Being a powerhouse of Sonnel doesn't come easy, and the rich history of military goes back all the way before its inception. No violence or terrorism will see the light of day at this Cup of Harmony, as far as the Drawkian Armed Forces and the nation's gun ownership laws are concerned.

Experience:

Drawkland has already put together an impressive hosting resumé despite the nation's relative new arrival to the scene. They've co-hosted a World Bowl and an IBC, solo hosted a HWC and 1.5 IC7s, hosted several conferences several times in the NSCF and NSCAA, and co-hosted Baptism of Fire 65, with Spaam.

Eshan has broad hosting experience over two nations and has previously hosted tournaments including the 42nd Baptism of Fire and editions of the Weaker Sex World Cup, International Football Tournament, and the World Next Generation Tournament.

Scorination:

We intend to employ the use of NSFS 3, which employs the use of style modifiers between -5 and +5. The more negative your mod, the more defensive you play, while the more positive equals the more offensive. We will have IC threads open on Wednesday the 12th and Matchday 1 will kick off on Friday the 14th. Time of scorination will happen routinely around 10PM EST for both Eshan and Drawkland.

Criteria of inclusion:

Potential invitees will be selected based on if they have a minimum of 3 solid RPs. If there are not enough 3-post entrants to meet the minimum of 32 teams, the criteria will be lowered to 2-posts (Amended). Those not meeting the standard or the required number will not be invited.

Format:

As hosts, we are prepared to work with a minimum of 32 teams and up to 40 ideally.
The formats will incorporate a single round robin style of play, with 8 groups holding 4 teams each.
Playoffs will take the winners of one group facing the runners-up of the following group (ie. Group A #1 vs. Group B #2, Group A #2 vs. Group B #1), and will continue down the bracket until a winner is crowned.

Tie-breakers:

Amended: points, goal differential, H2H matches, H2H goal differential, goals scored, and, finally, wins.

RP Bonus:

The KPB system will be employed in this competition. The RP Bonus will be evaluated on a day-to-day basis. We will award up to 2 points stacked daily, depending on how the RP is written with respect to opponents' permissions. This includes grammar, spelling, quality and effort put into the RP. There will be a one time RP bonus applied for posting a roster, worth anywhere from 0-3 points depending on quality.

If these turn out to be mutually exclusive - i.e. more than 40 teams hit the RP criteria or, more likely, less than 32 have 3 solid RPs and are available - will you work with a smaller field (or larger), or will you change the quality criteria?

On mobile so I apologize for any errors.
Ceni wrote:Why goals for over head to head?

GD over H2H as the goal differential incentivizes people to RP more completely; if H2H was used, a user would be less inclined to RP after losing to a group mate as that automatically means they're shuffled underneath them. GD motivates people to keep RPing regardless of H2H results as they can still pass by these teams if level on points and with a higher GD.

While 32 nations would be ideal, my co-host and I are more than capable of working with anyone number to entrants provided they meet our criterion.

I think Ceni's talking about Goals Scored ahead of H2H.

Sorry Eshan no offence intended, I don't think I worded my question clearly - certainly no doubts about your hosting ability! What I meant was what happens if you don't get enough available participants who reach the minimum 3-post criteria for your stated minimum 32 entrants... I wondered if the criteria would be lowered or the number of entrants. I think you've answered it anyway now, so thank you.

Whew that's an original posting oversight on my part!
The order should be and is amended as: points, goal differential, H2H matches, H2H goal differential, goals scored, and, last but not least, wins.

Sorry if that was brief Bonesea! I didn't think you meant any offence but my point was that we can work with any number of entrants regardless of if there are too few 3-post entrants but 32 is the minimum. If there proves to be a dearth of 3-post entrants, we would lower it to a minimum of two posts and work with those numbers! Hope that's answered it for you!

I like everything (bar the logo cause guns :P).

I think Eshan and Drawk are worthy hosts of the Cup of Harmony, and I will endorse this bid. Sadly I cannot vote as I will be away.
Esportivan and Proud.
