Don Brady (Democratic-Republican Party) was leading with 36.36% of the votes after the 1st turn. Arijana Ibrahimovic (Social Democratic Union) was 2nd with 25.91%. These two were facing each other again in the 2nd turn while the other candidates were eliminated. The results were really close in the 2nd turn and Arijana Ibrahimovic won the elections with 51.09% of the votes while Don Brady only recieved 48.91%. Arijana Ibrahimovic (Social Democratic Union) is the 1st chancellor of the Union of Socialist Alpine Republics! Arijana Ibrahimovic didn't said who will be her president but the rumor says Keith Fletcher, a politician from Caledonia, will be her president [The chancellor is elected every 4 or 5 years while the president is appointed by the chancellor. While sailing back home after an 84-day maritime patrol operation in the Mozambique Channel, the two Zhouranese vessels were unexpectedly intercepted by a foreign frigate. The commander of the Laobukepo-class destroyer tried negotiating with the commander of the foreign frigate, however negotiations failed when the frigate commander gave a provocative statement regarding Zhouranese imperialism and sovereign defense against Zhouranese expansionism. As a result, a tense standoff was brewing. After three hours of provocative maneuvering and aggressive saber-rattling, the foreign frigate began firing its autocannons at the destroyer. Luckily, the Laobukepo-class destroyer only suffered minor scratches. Meanwhile, the Natakou-class submarine quickly retaliated by launching a Type 05 supersonic anti-ship cruise missile while remaining underwater. The missile successfully struck the frigate, and in approximately ten-to-fifteen minutes the foreign warship sunk to the bottom of the sea. The Minister of Defense has stated in a conference this afternoon that the ZPA Navy will deploy more combat naval groups to the Southeast Asian region in order to secure Zhouranese interests and escort any Zhouranese-owned ships that sail through the region. Moments In Vannish History



The 2014 Mirevian Crisis brought the nations of Carloso, Estenia and Hayabusa against Carsodonia and Vangaziland in a minor territorial dispute. A proposed garrison of Carsodonian soldiers based in Mirevia during the ongoing Hayabusan-Cydonian border clashes ruffled feathers. The move was part of the marriage of Empress Akira Wolfe of Mirevia to Emperor Heaften Von Stauffenberg of Carsodonia. Von Stauffenberg wanted to strengthen Mirevia's borders in times of intense regional conflict.

Carloso deployed CN Toro Carrier Strike Group to set up a blockade in international waters near Mirevia. Mirevia's ally, Vangaziland, immediately confronted the idea through aggressive diplomacy. Prime Minister Elysios Gudden sent large amounts of soldiers to the Carlossian-Vannish border. This in turn resulted in the mobilization en-masse of Carlossian military units. Vangaziland's border force was smaller, as Carloso spun up their entire military and sent them to the border.

In response, Vangaziland moved more aircraft into the area. They were preparing to carpet bomb any offensive that started to move across the border. Vangaziland kept the larger force at bay through aggressive nuclear posturing. Gudden made it clear that any border crossing could result in attacks on Carlossian cities. He would not rule out a nuclear response.

Prime Minister Elysios Gudden stood by his claim that the blockade was illegal. He responded by flying bombers towards Carlossian cities and sending them back to base just before the border. This drew the attention of Bratislav, who sent "advisors" into Carloso. The Vannish Navy began surfacing submarines and opening the missile bay doors, threatening to launch at Carlossian cities.

Carloso threatened to shoot down any aircraft approaching their border. Gudden called this illegal once again, as Carloso stood ready to shoot aircraft over Vannish skies. Gudden responded by hosting a special forces exercise on the border. Helicopters were involved and flew near the border. Gudden also had bombers fly patrols parallel to the border, not targeting cities.

Vannish submarines also continued mock and live test launches.

The dispute was the start of Vangaziland's nuclear first strike option. Gudden was acting to keep Vangaziland and her ally, Mirevia, from being swept into the region-wide conflict that was brewing. Gudden's stunts drew international attention. Other nations began to stand up against the illegal blockade. The naval convoy made it's way to Mirevia as talk became the only option.

Not long after the crisis, the Vannish Empire soon granted autonomy to their territory bordering Carloso, cutting ties with the region. Mainland Vangaziland did not want to support the logistics needed to bring a larger force here with these new tensions. It would pull too many assets away from other areas. The new nation had a plan in place and took off as an independent nation. The Vannish military has not since returned.

A Vannish B-1B gets cleared of preflight maintenance at Whisperwatcher Airbase. Late night flights were scheduled in an attempt to interfere with the opposing air force's schedule.

Gun camera footage from one tier-one border exercise was recently released. This was the first exercise scheduled in response to the threat to Vannish aircraft. At night it became harder to track these teams.

Submarines launched test missiles on several occasions. This was the first major test for Vangaziland's nuclear policy. Vannish media pundits called the event Gudden's Last Stand because it took place during the last month of his Ministry. Hank Goodsen took over two weeks later. He has maintained the aggressive nuclear attitude.

Vandario is currently undergoing what is called by The State the "Majestic Return Project" a project to completely revitalize the empire. Zhouran Central News Agency 07/4/XX All Aboard the Simulator University students create flight simulator for advanced spatial disorientation training Top: A parked Jian-24-0-2 fighter jet with the flight data recorder at the back of the cockpit Bottom: The flight simulator pod at Tatagun University Today a group of university students from Tatagun University in Anjing has unveiled a real-time flight simulator called "Hawk Ride 3317", as part of the group's project called "Project Hawk Rider". Consisting of a highly-sophisticated flight simulator pod placed on a multi-axis Stewart Platform and an advanced real-time flight data recorder placed inside a fighter jet, the purpose of the simulator is to artificially re-create fighter aircraft flight and the environment in which it flies, for the sole purpose of disorientation training. Featuring full freedom in yaw, the flight simulator pod uses a gimballed cockpit mounted on a framework which adds vertical motion. The framework is mounted on rails attached to a rotating platform. The rails allow the simulator cab to be positioned at different radii from the centre of rotation and this gives a sustained G capability up to about 3.5. Meanwhile, the flight data recorder was designed to provide real-time recording of the carrier aircraft's flight pattern and transmit that back to the flight simulator pod, which would then recreate the flight pattern of the carrier aircraft in real-time. As part of the project, the Zhouranese People's Army Air Force had placed the flight data recorder inside the rear seat of a Jian-24-0-2 multirole air superiority fighter aircraft, an aircraft known for its thrust vectoring engines and supermaneuverable capability. According to the student group, Hawk Ride 3317 was created for spatial disorientation training in order to "allow an individual to get used to the motions of a flying aircraft, whether that be a subsonic airliner or a supersonic fighter jet". They have also expressed strong interest in exporting the simulator to the flight simulator market and sell it to various foreign organizations including universities, flight schools, air forces, airline companies, and space agencies. Just moments ago, His Majesty King Attorio Maldive III has signed into law the Astrolinian Assembly Act, initially passed as a resolution of the People's Assembly last week 217-196. With the passage of this law, the People's Assembly, which has often been accused of being overcrowded, stagnant, and unmanageable, begins the process of transitioning away from its previous role as a directly democratic body open to all citizens. While the Assembly retains its purely advisory role -- all resolutions shall still be subject to review and approval or rejection by the King -- it will be reorganized into a twelve-person body, not unlike individual town councils found in larger nations. In accordance with this change, the Town of Astrolinium has been organized into four wards: the Farm District, the Old Town, South Ward, and North Ward. Each ward will be electing three Councillors to represent its residents in the People's Assembly, with the first election having been set by the King for 1 September. The Office of Domestic Affairs assures the Herald-Internationale that a new Office of Elections will be open and running by the end of July, with further guidelines for candidate filing to be established by then.

We reached out to the Office of the King for comment and received this reply from the desk of His Majesty: "I support the People's Assembly fully in making this move. When I initially created this body, I hoped it would prove an excellent way for my people to directly hold my ear, and it has -- I am particularly proud of the input the Assembly has had on working with me to create Astrolinium's first public transit system. In recent months, however, I have to agree that it has grown a tad chaotic. I eagerly await the results of the election in September and hope that this smaller group will be more efficient -- and, if not, that's the beauty of Monarchy, that I can pick up a pen and put it back to the way it was in the blink of an eye if need be. In the meantime, the People's Assembly will continue to function as it has for the past several years until the September meetings, at which the transition will officially take place. "We do not need 9 million personnel" Presient Petrosyan to massively cut down on military size

During the last leader's reign, Bastian Heinrich, the military size was increased by around 500%, with 9.4 million in active service and 8 million in reserves, making a total of around 17.5 million. Bastian Heinrich did this due to wanting to invade the Russian Federation as easy as possible and also easily threaten nations to get demands. However, Petrosyan has said during the election that we do not need this much personnel and he will cut down on the size. He will be putting this into effect soon, and the surplus equipment will either be sold to other nations or just kept for reserves. Petrosyan says that he will cut down the size from 17.5 million to around 3.5 million. "We are not at war, and we are not a superpower. Our military size is around the size of Nazi Germany at the end of ww2. We are not at a state of national emergency, we are at peace." Says Petrosyan. This cut down will make 14 million people unemployed, however, this will not be done instantly. He has said that this cut down will be over a time period of around 8-12 months, laying off around 1 million every month. Petrosyan has not yet said anything about job opportunities for veterans.

HGRRNA: Kaiser Michael, why have you decided to release the Holy Slavic Empire as a puppet and in a personal union?

Kaiser: Well Reporter, you should know that there were always tensions between our folks. But since they were on New Earth, they began to like us and we did the same too, of course that happend at the time in the HGRR. But they were always nationalist and wanted to be united only as slavs. so i made their Dream become true but only under these two conditions: Puppeting them and Forcing them into a Personal union. But it seems that they were still happy about that.

HGRRNA: Ok, but why did you wanted them into a personal Union?

Kaiser: One of my main priorities is keeping the unity on new earth. Ever since these alien attacks, we wanted to be united forever, that´s what i still want to achieve, because if we let all folks do their own thing, they would all kill themselves. With Unity, this can´t happen. But therefor they can still do their own thing.

As the four aircraft entered Zhouranese airspace, they were tracked by ground-based radars while two Jian-23-1-1 fighter jets, both of which were conducting routine air patrols, were alerted and began turning towards the intruding planes. When the Cessna 337s began approaching the city of Liao in Piaoliang Province while flying at an altitude of 1,400 m, the two fighter jets descended to 650 m and began approaching the four aircraft head-on with weapons ready. According to one of the fighter pilots' radio transmissions, the Filipino pilots of the Cessna 337s stated they belonged to a local Filipino charity group that was "flying towards Liao to receive medical equipment that would be used for those affected by the Battle of Marawi", however the two fighter pilots were told by ground-based radar operators that the four planes were identified as belonging to a Filipino crime syndicate. Despite constant warnings from the two fighter pilots, the four Cessna 337s refused to turn around and leave Zhouranese airspace. Not only that, the four planes even turned off their communications radio. The lead fighter pilot said that "Filipino bogeys are refusing to heed my warnings for the fifteenth time. Bastards are on my nose now, inside of 23 km", followed shortly by "weapons armed". At a range of 16 km, the lead fighter pilot fired his beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile and successfully destroyed the first plane. The wingman fired her BVR air-to-air missile a few seconds after the lead pilot and successfully destroyed the second plane. With two of the four Cessna 337s destroyed, the remaining two turned around and began fleeing. At 8 km the two fighter pilots circled to get a tail angle on the fleeing planes. The wingman fired her short-range air-to-air missile from 6.4 km and downed one of the escaping plane while the lead fighter pilot by now had gained the rear quadrant on the final plane. After closing to 1.2 km, the lead fighter pilot fired his short-range air-to-air missile, which hit its target. The two fighter pilots proceeded northeast to return to base. With the downing of each aircraft, the two fighter pilots celebrated over the radio. Their radio transmissions included statements such as "I've got his ass, this son of a bitch is down!" from the lead pilot and "This bastard will no longer give us any more fucking trouble!" from the wingman. Finally, the wingman also said "Second-last one is destroyed, the son of a bitch is down", followed by the lead pilot exclaiming "Honor or death, you bastard! Your ass is mine also!" after shooting down the last plane. According to a spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Administration, investigation on the incident still continues. The spokesperson also stated that "the fighter pilots did an honorable job by warning the four planes and shooting them down when the Filipino pilots failed to follow simple instructions." Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs has stated that the incident will not affect the bilateral relations between Zhouran and the Philippines. The goal of Thousands Shield 17 is to support the training, evaluation and eventual certification of Springmont’s quick reaction and cavalry element's. The exercise affords participating nations an opportunity to train in a multinational environment while enhancing cooperation and interoperability. Leaders at all levels get the chance to exercise staffs in mission planning, command and control, movement and maneuver, and the execution of complex joint and combined operations. The Hundredstar force will consist of the Exercise Task Force (XTaF) from 1st Armoured Regiment and 2nd Armoured Regiment, 274th Armoured Brigade, 1st DIVISION, from Xavier I Camp, Lewden, and the C battery, 5 Artillery Regiment, from Ingnacios Barrack, Lewden lead by Colonel Susan G. José Díaz-Balart: Mr President, does the democratic republic of La Habana Cuba have a constitution?

President Elián González: After the economic sanctions, secret help and encouragement of the President of the USA of America, Donald J Trump, and my successful military coup d etat, with which none of this could have been possible, without the help and support of President Trump, certain parts of the democratic 1940 Cuban constitution are being respected by my democratic government, until a new constitution is created.

José Díaz-Balart: Who is going to create this new constitution?

President Elián González: After the national multi political party elections to be held, the Parliament members will propose, debate and discuss the constitutional laws to be passed by them, approved and signed into law by me.

My administration will propose the democratic 1940 Cuban constitution to parliament for its consideration, certain parts or all parts of the 1940 democratic constitution might be approved.

José Díaz-Balart: How democratic is the 1940 Cuban constitution?

President Elián González: Very democratic, it was created by a constitutional assembly with 9 different political parties participating, from the right, left and center, including the communist party of the time.

José Díaz-Balart: Under what government was this democratic 1940 constitution constituted?

President Elián González: The constitutional convention was presided by Carlos Márquez Sterling, during President Federico Laredo Brú s' administration. The constitution was approved and constituted during the then democratically elected President Fulgencio Batista from oct 10 1940 to 0ct 10 1944.

and from oct 10 1944 to oct 10 1948 under President Ramón Grau San Martín. (whose family's descendants the o.p once personally met in Miami, it was a great personal honour).

and from oct 10 1948 to march 10 1952 under President Carlos Prío Socarrás, both of whom signed the 1940 constitution.

José Díaz-Balart: What happened to the democratic 1940 Cuban constitution?

In 1952 former President Fulgencio Batista overthrew the Government of President Carlos Prío Socarrás, and suspended certain parts of the 1940 Cuban constitution, via a constitutional act, but kept multi political party elections to the house of representatives and the senate, along with free enterprise,
freedoms of the press and religions.

During the government of President Fulgencio Batista, two 2 communists leaders served as Ministers in the government of Batista, Carlos Rafael Rodríguez and Juan Marinello who later served Fidel.

The leader of the Cuban communist party of the time, Blas Roca signed the 1940 Cuban constitution, and once supported Batista and served as Fidel's President of the Cuban National Assembly CNAP.

Then Fidel and the revoltution for life, suspended all parts of the democratic 1940 Cuban constitution, after promising to restore the democrtatic 1940 Cuban constitution if he came to power.

José Díaz-Balart: Where did you learn all this history?

President Elián González: It wasn't easy.

Zhouran Central News Agency 08/30/XX Increasing Our International Responsibility and Military Obligations Senior Marshal Kang Yingyong calls for increase in Zhouran's role to safeguard world peace through stength Today, Senior Marshal Kang Yingyong and Senior Marshal Su Rongyu presided over a large-scale military exercise conducted by the Ground Force and Air Force of the Zhouranese People's Army in Nanxun District, Yanhai Province. The exercise, which involved numerous infantry, mechanized and armored units from the ZPAGF, along with 200,000 active ZPAGF personnel, around 600,000 reserve ZPAGF personnel, and various fighter jets, ground-attack aircraft and supersonic bombers from the Zhouranese People's Army Air Force, commenced a few days ago on August 23 and had just conducted its last day on August 30, by which both Senior Marshal Kang Yingyong and Senior Marshal Su Rongyu had attended. After the end of the exercise, a congratulatory ceremony was held. In his speech, Kang Yingyong congratulated the service men and women for their "bravery, courage and willpower to defend the Motherland" from enemies he described as "Big-Bank Corporate War-Mongers and Internationalist Genocidal Murderers in Suits". He also dubbed the Zhouranese People's Army "the finest warriors ever seen on the modern-day battlefield" and stated "every terrorists and opponents will think twice before coming home in Zhouranese-made body bags". While congratulating the ZPA for their efforts in the exercise, Kang Yingyong also stressed the importance of "World Peace Through Strength", calling for increased Zhouranese military role in safeguarding the stability of world peace from threats such as global terrorism. "As a global power in the world stage, it is our international responsibility and military obligation to bring stability and peace to nations torn by conflict and instability" he stated. Su Rongyu also congratulated the soldiers in his speech, calling them "the most highly-trained, well-equipped warfighters of the 21st Century" and stating that "other militaries could learn from their Zhouranese role-models". He also added "our vast array of highly-advanced equipment and weapons will give us an edge over any internal or external threats". Responding to Kang Yingyong's call for increase role in international peace, Su Rongyu stated that the "People's Army is the Ayanjiamujuela Sword of the Motherland" and that "the People's Army plays a crucial role in protecting national interests". In regards to the ZPA's significant force projection capabilities, he stated "the Ayanjiamujuela Sword of Unyielding Justice and Retribution can reach all corners of the globe" and that "no murderers can hide from their fate".
