Though according to the government the deal with the DUP makes a power sharing agreement more likely... they don't say how though.

Making SF quit the assembly entirely, probably.

Sinn Fein have made non-attendance an art form. I wouldn't be surprised if their dead during the Troubles managed to miss their own funerals.

If only the Eurosceptics had actually followed their example rather than wasting our money and making us a joke.

Sinn Fein think it might pacify the DUP into doing more of what SF wants. http://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-britai ... KKBN19H212

Technically they've got until noon on Thursday to sort out a deal, but the discussions are only scheduled to take place today. Since NI has been without a deal all year it seems unlikely that they can sort things out in under 24 hours.

The DUP don't strike me as flexible, ever, so SF with high hopes of gaining something, makes a deal seem less likely to me.

I don't think Sinn Fein are particularly better, flexibility-wise. The two of them are like geriatrics trying to copulate.

Is this another thing that we have no magic money tree for?

I realise 65p per person doesn't seem like much, but ask the OTHER public servants (nurses, doctors, police, firefighters etc) who DO NOT get an 8% pay rise this year, or ANY FUCKING YEAR, whether they would like to get such a raise worth even 5p per person in this country, then see what 65p per person is worth.

The stupid fucking lot of them (the Monarchy, not the rest of the public servants) should be deposed and made to do real fucking jobs. Or given a state pension and put out to pasture.

But giving them a £6m pay rise when they are cutting the pay of everyone else is just a fucking insult, and whoever decided to do this should be ashamed of themselves.

Pretty sure it reflects an increase in the amount of cash the Crown Estates pay into the treasury.

So? The first time she does something useful in her post military life and we give her a fucking raise? Why don't we take the money and do something GOOD with it? Like pay our nurses, doctors, police etc with it? Instead of giving it to a bunch of medieval soothsayers in Northern Ireland.

We aren't paying the salary. We're managing the Crown estates, owned by the Royal Family, and because the Crown Estates are making more money both the government and the Royal Family are receiving more money from the Crown Estates.

The Queen's cut of the profits has also been increased to 25%, so it is not just that the Crown Estates are making more money.

The Sovereign Grant, which pays for the salaries of her household, official travel and upkeep of palaces, is to increase by more than £6m in 2018/19.

The Sovereign Grant comes out of public, tax-payer funded money. If you can explain to me how that means WE (the British tax payers) are not paying for this dotty old witch of a woman to live a life style of luxury and decadence while we literally have people starving on the streets and burning to death in substandard housing, go ahead.

It should also be noted we gave this feckless wench £370m to do up her houses last year as well. No wonder the government can't afford to raise the public sector pay!!

Two words can describe the fallout after this Tory deal with the DUP: Anthony Eden!
