Hamish Dyson sat in on the Hutalu leader's conference, and once it ended he walked up to the two Hutali official looking people he saw and introduced himself.

Jocuan Quenti entered the building, eager to discuss and seek out countries with which Mirigli could work for. He nervously straightened the ceremonial uniform his assistant had insisted he wear. "Hello, fellow representatives. I am blessed to be among you today to discuss the future of our countries."

Welcome esteemed representative! My name is Hamish Dyson, and I am a representative from the Unified Electorates of Ainslie, a nation in southwestern Gael. I look forward to discussing our two nations' relationship further.

Suite 129, The International, 5 star hotel, International District
7:30 AM

Morning. Young Ingrid Sonders, 27, awoke in the luxurious suite of The International, one of the International District's best hotels. She suddenly leapt out of her bed and started touching every single piece of furniture she could find, whilst pinching herself. After a few minutes of this strange waking up, she was satisfied to discover she was not dreaming.
Three days earlier, the junior clerk she was didn't even dream of such an occasion. She knew how elitist the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was, everyone had warned her, and knew she had no chance of ever going on a mission until at least age 40. 15 more years of boring paperwork and answering calls were waiting for her. And then, one afternoon, the Minister just strolled into her office three days ago and announced her she would represent Nordrik in the International District. When she heard this, her heart had missed a beat. The Minister was busy promoting an amendment to the Diplomatic Immunity Act, and he wanted a new face for Nordrik' representation, but no matter how zealous an employee was, such a rapid promotion from the lowest of the clerks to the honour of going to the ID was unheard of, making her agitated rise this morning understandable.
Full of excitement, Ingrid prepared herself and by 9:30 was out of the lobby. She grabbed a bike, which was the most popular method of transportation in Nordrik's cities, before seeing the executive looking sedan that was waiting for her. " I have to get used to being an ambassador", she thought.

There was more traffic than ever, and by the time the sedan had managed to get out of them she was already late for Hutalu's conference. She would probably see them all exiting the conference room. When the car parked in front of the international building she stared at it in awe. It was not the most beautiful building, and many structures in Nordrik were as majestuous, but this building she had seen on television so many times before was now before her for real. She could have gazed at it all day if the chauffeur hadn't noted, in a polite voice, that they had arrived. Hopping off the car, the young ambassador walked towards the entrance of the building, clogged up by journalists. She figured that her parents, her friends, her boyfriend would all be watching television now or tonight. She thought of the millions o that would be seeing her face as she entered the building, and no matter how calm and serein she tried to look she could feel by the heat of her cheeks that she was blushing. She then thought of the Minister, who would be watching the report as well, and who knows, the Chancellor and the Queen too, and at this thought she straightened herself and marched determinedly towards the lobby. She had to show the Minister that he had made a correct choice in choosing her, a diplomat with a degree in International Relations, not an emo barely adult excited girl.
Once she was in the lobby, far from the peering cameras and indiscrete microphone, she thought she could relax, but the amount of important people in the room kept her adrenaline level high, and she nearly gasped several times when seeing that famous Minister of Head of State. She decided she'd better walk towards the bar, next to which a small group of people were speaking. One of them had some sort of ceremonial uniform in which he didn't look too comfortable. Two others looked slightly more familiar, and, attempting to remember the sheets she had scrutinised during her flight, she believed they were the Hutalis that animated the conference she should have attended to if it weren't for the damn traffic. The other looked like some Gaelic, "Ostehaar, or maybe Ainslie", she thought. This reminded her about how unknown she was, and she quickly produced out of her pocket a badge with the flag and name of Nordrik, her own name, and her title. The sight of her name and the words "Ambassador to the International District" filled her with pride. She pinned the badge on her dress, and walked towards the others.

Jocuan thanked the representative from Ainslie. Shaking their hand, Jocuan noted the Ainslie was an influential nation with which Mirigli could greatly benefit. Seeing a new representative walk up to the bar, he squinted to read her title. Inclining his head slightly to show respect to the Nordrik ambassador, he greeted her. "Welcome, Ambassador Sonders."

Two identical limousines and a leading motorcycle pulled up onto the plaza. Two men in black suit and tie walked out of each limousine. Out of the first limousine walked out a man of lean figures, light brown hair, and big green eyes. He wore a blue and gold coat lined with silk, white breeches and stockings, a bicorn hat, white gloves bearing the cross potent, and a gold-and-pearl-mounted sword and a staff laced with silver: the uniform of an ambassador. On his left breast laid the lesser coat of arms of the Realm lined with gold and surrounded by the words: Mea Regina ♦ Mea Veritas ♦ Meum Imperium , the motto of the Royal Diplomatic Corps. In the second car, an entourage of aids in simple suit-and-tie uniform.

Having arrived, the ambassador walked into the building flanked by his guards and aids.

"Good day. On behalf of His Royal Majesty, Adriana II, Queen of the Realm and Her Territories, I, Henry de Corona, Commissioner-Prefect, present you my sword." Henry pulled out his sword and dropped it on the ground.

"As it is our custom, we present our swords as a sign of friendship and goodwill. Our new Queen seeks to form new alliances with the nations. I hope that, in the future, we may form stronger bonds." Henry tipped his head and smiled.

Ingrid's mind was now speeding at 100 mph, as she realised someone was now talking to her. In a millisecond she realised the ambassador probably came from that country where they have Tui Charrat. She remembered last time she saw it with her family on television, the colours are just marvellous...what the hell was the name of this country? Mir...Miri-something. These questions were racing in her head, but she realised that if she didn't react it would start looking awkward, so she stuck her arm out for a handshake and declared "Thank you very much, honourable ambassador. It is a pleasure to have the occasion to meet you."

"As is with I." Goddamn, his foreign use of English was doubtlessly showing through. The phrasing was far too... archaic. "Mirigli is grateful for the opportunity to connect with all future allies."

Ingrid thought of how bad the English was before realising that she spoke like that when she was learning English as well, and started cursing herself for her intolerance. Who was she to expect everyone to perfectly speak the languages she spoke? Why not ask everyone to speak Nordish while she was at it?
However Ingrid was grateful to hear the name of that country from the Ambassador's mouth, without even needing to ask. Obviously it was Mirigli, how the hell could she forget that name? Anyway, now it was noted Ingrid remembered the notes about the nation's strategic location in the Mesder sea and asked:
" It is when we come here that we realize how little we all know about each other. Do you have a deep water port in your nation?"
Ingrid hoped this was a subtle enough way to come down to the Nordrikker shipping industry's need for new hub and destinations.

How the hell did that guy know what she thought? CAN THIS GUY READ IN HER MIND???. Ingrid soon realised that he was certainly some kind of experienced diplomat while she was nothing but a drop in the bucket, just with a degree but no actual experience. Obviously he could read through what she thought. The body language, the tone, everything was wrong.
Ingrid took a deep breath and said
"That would be most interesting. I've heard the Ministry has projects on establishing embassies, this will catalyse our good relations. We should definitely start thinking of possible treaty clauses, such as free passage and bettered tariffs for some industries".

(OOC: A touch of Retcon, forgive me.)
President Maxwell Doneit IV's Speech to the International District

"Ladies and gentlemen of the International Community. I am President of the Congress of Hutalu, Maxwell Doneit. I am here today to seek recognition of Hutalu as a sovereign and independent country, ready to engage in diplomacy for the betterment of its people and the region at large. My people have fought a long battle against Rocky Fella Incorporated, and are ready to try and build the society that we have been dreaming of. Unfortunately, as anyone who looks at history knows, revolutions are messy, and especially post-colonial ones, and Hutalu is no exception. There are a dew major crisis that our society face that we ask the region to help us with.

First, our infrastructure was primarily built to only serve as a means of extracting, processing, and shipping petroleum and petroleum related products. In some areas, the only infrastructure is labor camps used to oppress the Tribalists and early dissidents. Without a functioning infrastructure system, we fear our economy will not be able to function.

Second, food security and medical supplies are running low. For most of our history, we have had to import food from Rocky Fella to feed ourselves, but now that that line of supply has been cut, we face a serious threat of as many as 3 million going malnourished, 1 million of which will be soon starving. And while their are currently no signs of an outbreak, the lack of medical supplies and doctors is worrying to say the least.

Third, on our islands, there are two main ethnic groups, the native Tribalists and the immigrant Unionists. On the main, larger island, while not perfect, these groups have mostly come to co-exist, but the smaller island is in a much more sorry state. That island has the center of Tribal resistance, and therefore, the location of some of Rocky Fella's most horrific crimes. Not to mention the infrastructure there is very underdeveloped, and food supplies are in a even worse state. There are now reports of violent groups on both sides that claim that the island can be only theirs. While these are not anywhere nearly the majority, a possible civil war would be devastating to this new country. We lack both the security forces to keep the peace in the short term and the supplies to ease tensions over the long term.

Lastly, we currently fear that our military is not enough to stop a counter-revolution by Rocky Fella. Whether as a coup, a group of mercenaries, or a corrupted state actor, we believe that Rocky Fella is planning to take back what was once one of their most valuable islands. Without a proper defense force and a guarantee of independence, we cannot be certain of our future.

At this moment, we are trying to build a new society that can provide wellbeing, freedom, and justice to all of our people, but these hurdles stand in our way. Where if it is for ideological, political, commercial, or simply humanitarian reasons, please help Hutalu, the dream that my people fought and died for.

Thank you. I will now take any follow-up questions."

Hamish looked up from his phone and looked back down. He stated, "It is essential for you, or a representative to take this to the league and observe their response to this. I will forward your sentiment to my superiors back home, and we'll see what we can do." He then quickly made for the door, with his phone now against his ear."

Free passage...lifted tariffs on oil... that was more Ingrid could ever hope for. She sent a discrete glance to a notebook opened at Mirigli's page. On there laid a checklist of what she could do. Negotiate mutual trade benefits. Check.
"Great!", she thought. Not only had she managed to approach another nation but now the premises of a trade deal and years of friendship were starting to take form. Besides, lifting trade barriers on textiles would mean those awesome collections would be cheaper, and a wave of enthusiasm flooded her at the idea those Imperatriz dresses would be cheap enough for her means. Damn, she'd be declared a national hero by all her friends for this!
"It appear such a deal would be mutually beneficial for both our industries. It would now be more than time to elaborate a treaty and mark on paper what we convened by speech. I'll be contacting my superiors." She then looked towards the bar "May I offer you a drink, to celebrate our purposeful discussion?"

César Camargo, born in the province of Aldeota, was sent to represent Dragão do Mar in the International District. He got a flight from the International Airport Santos Dumont in Fortaleza. Camargo was a bit apprehensive as he knew that his country should have sent a representative much earlier than this, but expected to represent very well the interests of Dragão do Mar and to earn more experience. He arrived in the I.D., entered in the I.B., and entered in the meeting room.

Ingrid turned away from her coffee and looked behind to see what was causing the noise she had just heard. Now she saw Camargo as well as her Gaelic ambassador she had spotted earlier on. Both of them had embassies in Nordrik, and both nations were extremely interesting for the United Kingdom, especially Camargo's, who was the nation with which Nordrik shared its largest border.
Though she was a bit afraid, she finished her coffee and tried to look as calm as possible walking towards them, though every step would increase her heart rate. At last, she arrived at a proximity that allowed no escape, like light in a black hole's event horizon, and in an effort to make her voice as confident as possible, she started to phrase her first word.
Saying it in Portuguese, a language she had slight notions in because of her Southern grandmother, would have probably made a great impression, but failing to decide weather Olà or Bom dia or saudações was more adapted, she turned towards English and, nodding to the Ahnslen ambassador like they were good friends despite having never met and her seeing that gaelic only a couple of hours ago, whilst looking towards Camargo, she said:

"Hello, esteemed ambassadors. A pleasure to see both of you"

"G'day"? Now there was no doubt that Gaelic was from Ainslie. They are pretty much the only ones to speak this wy, and Ingrid could remember those hilarious caricatures from the not so respectable tribune where Ainslie was represented by a man holding a puzzle entitled "The Electorates Puzzle" and saying G'day every three words. She bore great smile and replied

"I've seen better coffee, but I definitely saw worse". Dammit. That answer was strictly useless. In an attempt to start a conversation of some sort with both diplomats, she tentatively asked
"I've seen you for some time here, definitely more than Mr. Camargo here. Since when are you in the building?"

Hamish looked at Ingrid, knowing that she was from Nordrik. "I'm not really a fan of coffee, and my experiences of the coffee here don't do any good to that. Yeah, I've been here for at least a few weeks. Ainslie's a fan of diplomacy and negotiations, so more relations is always a helpful thing for us."
