Summary

The Century of Blood is coming to an end. Westeros remains divided and split among the various Kings all competing for power. The King of the North, The Rock, The Vale, The Stormlands, The Reach, Dorne, The Iron Islands and Riverlands. This will soon change, as the Targaryens the last of the dragons of Valyria consult their power on Dragonstone an island in Blackwater Bay. The current Dragonlord, Aegon Targaryen remains conflicted between unifying the chaotic realm of Essos and creating a New Valyrian Empire or perhaps a greater prize in the West.

Hold your sword close to you, for the game of thrones will begin. Will you beat back the foreign invader and remain King? Or will you fall to Fire and Blood?

Introduction

This is a Song of Ice & Fire RP set at the verge of Aegon's Conquest. Many paths lay open, from the many Kings of Westeros to the Free Cities and Stepstones.

1. The OP and Co-ops are Gods, their word is law.
2. This is a fantasy RP but try and be realistic. Travel time, combat, and politicking are all important, don't go too crazy
3. No god modding, metagaming etc.
4. This is going to be a freeform RP, time will vary between posts.
5. This will be an RP based on character development and progression, do not expect storylines to develop for you, make your own and involve other players. If you are stuck with nothing to do, OP/CO-OP will give your a task or an idea.
6. Keep the Lore restricted to A Song of Ice and Fire material only
7. Please keep characters in the Free Cities, Westeros and the Stepstones. If character is all the way over in let's say Yi Ti they wouldn't get much interaction.

You may make your own house, however, they will be subject to stringent review, and canon houses are preferred. A new house may invent a new castle, but will not be able to take over lands or titles from a canon house. Your application will not be accepted until all fields are filled out. Custom Houses may only be low lords and are not allowed to have vassals. Custom Houses are not allowed Valyrian Steel Swords.

Biography (At least a well written Paragraph please): Aegon was from the island of Dragonstone, the westernmost outpost of the Valyrian Freehold, which his family had settled over a century before the Doom of Valyria. According to Targaryen tradition, Aegon married within the family; however, instead of just one sister, he married both of them: his elder sister, Visenya, and his younger sister, Rhaenys. All three were dragonriders before they were wed.

Personality: Aenar is faithfully loyal to his older brothers and sisters. He was not scorned when his brother chose to wed both Visyena and Rhaenys which locked him out of marrying one of his siblings. He had a childhood crush on Rhaenys and she teased him many times while they grew up on Dragonstone. Aenar has a great respect for those that earn it, such as when his brother Aegon tamed the mighty dragon, Balerion. Aenar is a quick thinker and likes to predict what others do, though his predictions can be wrong.
Skills: Skilled fighter - While not better than his brother Aegon or his sister Visyena he can hold his own against his half-brother Orys and a majority of the soldiers on Dragonstone.
Military Genius - Aenar has perfected the study of military combat. He knows how to lead, organize and inspire his armies to a near perfection.
Dragon Dreams - Aenar experiences Dragon Dreams which can sometimes show him events in the future, however they are cryptic.

Biography (At least a well written Paragraph please): Aenar was the last son born to Aerion Targaryen. Aenar looked up his older siblings as they had become mighty dragon riders, thus to prove his worth began studying combat and the sword hoping he could be on the same level. Growing up, Aenar was very close to Rhaenys and Orys, Aenar having developed a crush on Rhaenys was often teased by her. While he trained with Orys and eventually respected him as Aegon does. However, as time went on and Aerion died Aegon married both his sisters, which at first upset Aenar but after spending several nights talking with Orys learned that he could be used for a potential marriage alliance. Aenar hopes that he will able to serve his house dutifully.

Biography (At least a well written Paragraph please): Rhaenys, was born two years after Aegon. She is said to have always been more slender and graceful than her older Sister Visenya. At a young age, she tamed and mounted the second largest of the Targaryen Dragons, Meraxes, for above all else, she wished that she could fly. She spent more time in the air with Meraxes than she did on the ground with her family. Because of this, her mother often claimed that she had lost her head in the clouds. She was fond of poetry and would ask for court poets to be kept at Dragonstone and for new works of art to be created for her.

When her father, Aerion died and Aegon ascended to the throne. It was customary for Targaryen sons to wed the older daughter. Aegon did so, however, he also married Rhaenys, whom, by this time, was extremely attractive. The court whispered about the sleeping arrangement claiming that for every night he spent with Visenya he spent ten with Rhaenys. Rhaenys keeps a personal attache of young attractive men and women around her. Poets, warriors, artists and ladies in waiting all attend to her while at court. However, they all know that her true love is Meraxes and flying. She knows that she will have to give up flying to fulfill duties to her Husband, but does not foresee any reason she can't continue flying until that time. Besides, he has another wife, their older sister.

Biography (At least a well written Paragraph please): Born after Rhaenys and Aenar, Naerys is the third daughter, and fifth born child of Aerion Targaryen. This proved advantageous to him as he could try to find a political match to further the alliances of House Targaryen. However, the temperament of Naerys prevented this quickly and soon she began training to be a warrior instead. Her entire life was devoted to becoming a better warrior than Visenya and winning the affections of Aegon. However, when Aerion died and Aegon chose whom he would marry. He chose Visenya out of Duty. Naerys was disappointed and went to work becoming a better warrior still. She knew that if she wasn't going to marry Aegon, then she could at least serve her family on the battlefields. It was later that night that she learned Aegon took Rhaenys as a second wife. Infuriated that Aegon had chosen the both of them over her she was determined to be the best Targaryen warrior to ever live.

She began collecting a small following of other warriors and eventually a Knight from Duskendale joined her. He was amazed at the skill which she brought to a fight, but said to her many times "Fighting in the yard and fighting a foe are two different feelings. Until you have faced a man in true battle and won, I will not knight you." She then made it her goal to be the first Targaryen Knight and usher her family into a new era of great warriors.

Biography: Daemon Velaryon is the brother of Valaena Targaryen, who married Aerion Targaryen and was mother to Aegon, Visenya and Rhaenys. Daemon was raised to be Lord of Driftmark and a competent admiral, well versed in fleet tactics. His father, Aethon, was a proud man who taught his son to be proud of his High Valyrian heritage. Daemon has three sons and two daughters from his marriage to Alyssa Celtigar, the sister of Lord Crispian Celtigar. He also has another bastard son and daughter from a sailor's daughter. His wife died in childbed with his third true born son, Daemon.

Daemon's third son, Corlys, is one of, if not, the greatest swordsmen alive, though he is not the most competent of commanders. His heir, Aethon, is a skilled administrator and commander, but he is only decent at his swordplay. Daemon still needs to find a suitable bride for Aethon. His youngest son, also named Daemon, has recently reached the age of six, and Daemon the Elder plans to send his son to his nephew on Dragonstone, in order to serve as a page. Daenys and Elaena, his twin daughters have yet to be married. While he has a decent relationship with his bastard children, he is not particularly close to them. Following the war against Volantis, and its attempt to forge a New Valyria, he granted his three eldest sons (Aurion, Aethon and Corlys) captaincy of their own ships. Dubbed Sunrise, Tide Flyer, and Sea Blade, respectively.

Daemon, like his ancestors, gains his wealth from a monopoly over sea trade across the narrow sea. Driftmark's location before the Gullet, gives it a prime position for trade, the majority of which occurs in the town of Spicetown, while the town of Hull serves primarily as a shipyard. Daemon maintains a good relationship with his relatives, the Targaryens. As of late Daemon has plans for his youngest son to become a page in Lord Aegon's court, and has plans to soon depart for Dragonstone.

Biography: Aurion was born alongside his twin sister, Jaenara, to a sailor's daughter that his father became enamoured with prior to his marriage. He has He was raised partly to become a soldier/captain, and partly as a trader/fisherman, working for his maternal-grandfather, Aeryn. His mother named him after the fabled Dragon Emperor, Aurion, and named his sister after the famous dragon rider, Jaenara Belaerys. Stories of Emperor Aurion's attempt to reconquer Valyria following the Doom became Aurion's favourite stories as a child, and he dreamed of one day being a great Emperor like his childhood hero. However, as he grew older he realized this would be impossible, and decided to focus on being the closest thing to his dream that he could, a captain in service to his father. As an adult he and his sister followed the Valyrian tradition for bastards, and created a new surname for themselves, Varezys. Eventually he was able to become a captain of one of his father's vessels, and now serves him.

Aurion and his sister are on pleasant terms with their cousins, but due to their bastard status they are not given much chance to interact with them at feasts or gatherings. Aurion, is friendly with his second cousin, Orys, and has a sense of comraderie with him, due to their shared bastard status. He also harbours jealousy towards Orys, as Aurion feels Orys is treated almost as an equal by his siblings, while Jaenara and Aurion are generally ignored by their own.

Loren I is a proud king. His father died in an accident when Loren was only 14. He would squire under a number of knights in an effort to gain favor with multiple families, he would be knighted at age 17 and was considered a good, though no great fighter. He immersed himself in books of strategy and tactics, reading accounts of battles long past and bringing more maesters to his court than any other Lord. He believed in being prepared for war but striving for peace, indeed more often than not he would peacefully defuse situations that other rulers would have tried to turn bloody, but rarely lost face in an exchange. The battles and skirmishes he did fight were mostly against ironborn raiders, who were almost always repulsed.

However his true passion lied in math and science, he would seek to turn The Rock into a bastion of learning and one day hoped it would eclipse Oldtown, though he knew that dream was a long way off.

At age 22 he would would marry Cynda Kenning, sealing an important alliance. His reign would focus inward, as he cared little for the affairs beyond the borders of the Rock, relying on the mountains to insulate and protect them. He would only care about foreign events that threatened his trade routes.

Loren spent most of his reign promoting industry and infrastructure in his borders. With the plentiful presence of silver and gold, Loren reasoned iron and copper were also plentiful and he was right. While gold and silver were more prized, the domestic goods made with iron and copper had a much larger market. This would greatly increase the wealth of house Lannister. Additionally he sent for steelsmiths from Qohor, Artificers from Myr and experts from all over Essos. They would begin tutoring the people of the Westerlands in how to create high quality goods.

Now in his 50s Loren looks to his first passion, learning. He wishes to create a guild not for a craft, but of science. A group sponsored by the King of the Rock who would push the boundaries of learning, though his eldest son pushed for the creation of a golden bank, and his younger for an expansion of the Lannisport fleet ten-fold. However events to the east may finally lure the Lion out of his cave….

True, Andal/Westerosi customs are probably still less known to Blackwater Bay Valyrians. And since I doubt many Valyrian priests survived, which might explain why Aegon was so ready to accept a "foreign" religion when taking the throne, gonna be a bit of a disappointment to her though

Both are right. She is going to be disappointed when Ser Steffon finally tells her that she can't actually be knighted in the Faith of the Seven. Won't stop her from trying to enter tournaments and beating the pants off of other Knights anyway.

Biography: (At least two well written paragraphs please): Steffon Darke was raised in Duskendale by the cadet branch of House Darklyn. House Darke, they were called and were not well liked by many of the Darklyns. They saw them as potential usurpers for the longest time. Now however, they are a truly unique treasure to the family. A second bloodline, of loyal and strong knights since the days of the River Kings. Since then they have served Storm Kings and now suffer through the rule of the Iron Kings. Steffon was raised as a great knight, knighted at age 20 when he passed the rigorous tests that House Darke had set up for its sons. He was a second son, of the head of House Darke. Which means he inherited nothing. His older brother would get the small estate and command over the city watch when his father felt it was time to pass the mantle. Steffon however, fell into the hands of Lord Darklyn's plans to establish some kind of relation with the Dragons in Blackwater Bay. For whatever purpose, Steffon was sent to the island to listen and advise the Targaryens as best as they would listen to him.

Instead he fell into service with the youngest of them, a martial girl named Naerys. She was already half as good a fighter as he was and she was only 15 at the time. Three years later and she was nearly his equal with a sword and was advancing quickly with a lance and a bow. Originally he thought of just teaching her defense, but she proved she was a warrior born and decided that she would need to be trained properly. The three years he had spent with her would just be the beginning. Once she was ready, he would return to Duskendale with her and have both of them enter a tourney. She as a mystery knight and he as himself. It would be interesting to see how far she could go.

Of becoming a Westerosi Knight. Also, if she were to somehow obtain her brother's backing or somehow acquired one of her sibling's dragons... saying no to knighting her becomes much harder for a septon or a knight.
