- (Govila, Ferdinand, Fernão) After this grueling campaign between the left and right, a winner has emerged: Alexios Carlinha Viel has been re-elected to the Senate by nearly 18 points over his opponent, Civic Union's Leopoldo Agramonte.

The victory resonated across the Govila stadium where Viel held his victory rally. His supporters cheered, applauded, laughed and cried as the projected results saw Viel cross the 50% threshold mark, and keep climbing another 8.97%. In the speech he made following his victory, Viel said the following:

"Thank you, thank you! My friends, we did it!" The already loud crowd erupted into near deafening cheering, and Viel smiled and waved from his podium, not bothering to quiet them down. After nearly a minute and a half, Viel was able to return to his speech.

"I'd like to thank, first of all, my absolutely amazing staff. These people are some of the funniest, sharpest, most passionate people I've had the pleasure of meeting, and I would've been nothing without them." Viel's staffers smiled from their position adjacent to him, sitting in a casually-oriented semicircle of couches facing outwards towards the audience. "I'd also like to thank my parents, may they rest in peace. As a small boy growing up under Soetoro's regime, they were the ones who instilled in me the drive to continue under such insurmountable odds, and if they were alive today, I hope they would be proud of me." Viel quietly dapped a handkerchief under his eye, before continuing.

"My fellow Fernãoans, our cause lives on. I have delivered on many of my promises, but not all — my healthcare bill is still in the works, though luckily, my friend Senator Brzęczyszczykiewicz was kind enough to lend a hand. I already recognise that this bill will be larger than even the Government Revenue Act, and I want to get it right, so no one is left behind on our path for a stronger, more progressive Fernão."

"My greatest thanks of all go to you, the people of FD-4...oh sorry, I meant, Riviera!" The crowd applauded their constituency's new name, cheering and whistling at being more than a number now. "The people of Riviera were kind enough to choose me over my opponent to represent them in Fortaleza, and I can never fully thank them for that. A protest quickly forms after the Mococan Independence votes come in, revealing that the Independence movement lost. The security guards attempt to hold back the protest and call in the riot police as someone wearing a bandanna attempts to throw a Molotov cocktail at the Senate Building. However, the man doesn't seem to realize that the building materials are fire-proof. He runs away as a few police officers go chase after him. The protest grows slightly.

A number of sirens can be heard as vans from the Força de Segurança Pública of the Policia Federal arrive. The vans are almost brand new and sport dark blue paint over most of the bodies with white roofs. Mesh covers the windows, headlights and the emergency beacons. The vans stop and dozens of men clad in protective gear, armed with batons, shields and firearms quickly form lines and push the protesters back from the Senate building. In addition, armored trucks with water cannons also appear, but do not fire on the protesters. Over loudspeakers, protesters are given one order: "Dispersem imediatamente!"

BREAKING NEWS: Senator Bencoster successfully captures a nominally Communist constituency

- (New Guernsey, Fernão) In a non-traditional race where both major parties were absent, the Humanist Union has outperformed expectations and managed to capture a Communist Party seat held by Senator Veas despite earlier polling suggesting Senator Veas was going to easily see off Samuel Bencoster's campaign. In the closely fought race, Bencoster defeated Veas 53.65% to 46.35%. The constituency, formerly called NG-1 is now known as Ponderosa Pines.

It was something that defied history as the Communists had lost control of an area that they were closely aligned with since the 1990s, being the crucible for the Armed Forces of the Fernãoense Socialist Republic (AFFSR) and now the Fernãoense Peoples' Democratic Front (FPDF). The Communist Party had the support of the General Union of Workers as well as the FPDF meaning that they had a lot more manpower than the Humanist Union, which relied solely on donations, volunteers and only endorsements from the Civic Union, Union of Anabaptists and Forward Fernão, parties which weren't popular in the New Guernsey area. The Red-Green Alliance declined to give an endorsement as they "[do] not wish to alienate the leadership of the Humanist Union or the Communist Party."

In the senator's private function, there was large clapping and cheering once the results from each of the polling centres came in. After a long day's worth of campaigning, the entire Humanist Union party cheered and celebrated as the results indicated that Bencoster would narrowly win. After it became certain that he would win, instead of starting off with a speech, Senator Samuel Bencoster personally thanked each and every one of the small Humanist Union team that campaigned for him throughout the entire duration of the campaign. Also present were Senator Julie Shah and Senator Susanne Goes, as well as Secretary Goes and Secretary Ndereba.

In Senator Bencoster's victory speech, he started off by giving commiserations to his opponent, who had "fought a well-run campaign, but unfortunately fell short this time." Then, he moved on to thanking his supporters, including the interns and volunteers who helped run the bare-bones operation that the Humanist Union was running. For such a small party with a relatively small number of senators, it was a massive achievement indeed to even capture a constituency seat. He then talked about his hopes for the future, including a "freer, more inclusive and humanist society" and that, "a new dawn was about to come over New Guernsey." He ended his speech by thanking the voters for having faith in him, and that he will be a tireless worker for his constituents.

Separately, in a short speech just before Senator Bencoster's speech, Senator Julie Shah highlighted the need for the need for more Humanist local representatives throughout New Guernsey, suggesting that she may be considering a run in the future.

- (Fortaleza, Fernão) In a follow up to our original report of disunion in the Civic Union's ranks, FNN can now exclusively report that the President will address the nation from the Presidential Office later today. According to FNN sources close to the President, Priscilla Krishnan is "fed up" and held an urgent cabinet meeting earlier today. The cabinet meeting was also described by the source to be "extraordinary". Every member of the political Cabinet was present at the meeting, including the Secretaries who were nominated, but rejected by the Senate, Undersecretaries, and the Majority Leader.

Though this cannot be confirmed, it is speculated that the Cabinet meeting and presidential address, along with the President's frustrations, could be related to Krishnan's previously reported frustration with Majority Leader Indira Tamboli. Former President of the Senate Emmanuel Carvallo has been listed as the most likely candidate to replace Tamboli if the President decides to take action. Carvallo's fiancé, Patricio Magrina, the failed nominee for Health and Labour, was in attendance of the Cabinet meeting. Another possibility is that the President's frustration, and the subsequent meeting and address, could be linked to the Red-Green Alliance's opposition to the President's agenda. The Senate has recently descended into petty insults, with both sides accusing one another of "obstructionism".

At the moment, all we can do is speculate, but it is clear that President Krishnan plans to do something significant and extraordinary in the coming hours. Will it mark the end of Indira Tamboli's tumultuous tenure? Will it be an executive front against the opposition? Will President Krishnan announce that she has redone the drapes in the Presidential Residence? We cannot be sure. All we know for sure is that we heard it, through the Grapevine.

A man gets off the bus. He's late for work. Another mundane day in the life of an office employee. As he walks along the pavement, he glances at the ground and notices something shiny. A coin. Not just any coin. An American coin. The man picks it up, taking it with him to work as a conversation piece to fill the boring hours ahead.

Just above him, a pigeon flies overhead. It's a hungry pigeon. The young bird lands in a nearby park and finishes the fries that some ungrateful person left lying on the ground near a bench. The pigeon flies off, somewhere back into the rafters it calls home.

As the pigeon heads off, a vaguely Middle Eastern looking man sells kebabs from a hole in the wall of a building neighbouring the park. He could be from anywhere in this melting pot. This particular kebab vendor is a popular one, with a line stretching someway down the path. In that line is one of many of Betabart's 'elite' reporters. Henry Janssen is quite the fan of kebabs, particularly doner kebabs. The people at Betabart might disapprove of this decidedly cosmopolitan choice of meal. Nonetheless, Henry had important work to do there. Exposing the liberals was no task to be taken lightly. Indeed, he had been involved in a few important stories soon to be coming up. Politics in Fernao had reached a crisis point. The atmosphere generally was one of subdued tension. The political obstructionism and partisanship had made people dissatisfied. Rumours of militia manoeuvres in the countryside made people nervous.

Henry wandered off to the Betabart offices. He looked up, as he saw rain clouds overhead. The foreboding grey matched the mood of the nation. These were relatively normal days in Fernao, but for how long?

BREAKING NEWS: President will reportedly declare a state of emergency and seek to abolish constitution

- (Fortaleza, Fernão) According to information gained exclusively by FNN, President Priscilla Krishnan plans to declare a state of emergency in order to bypass the Senate on her judicial nominations, and will assemble a constituent convention to abolish the constitution. The President will announce her plans in an upcoming address from the Presidential Office. This shocking revelation comes at a time when the President has become increasingly frustrated and fed up, due to the Senate's failure to confirm her all of her nominees to the Cabinet and judiciary.

Although it was previously theorized that the President's upcoming announcement could pertain to her troubles with current Majority Leader Indira Tamboli, who is indeed being challenged as Parliamentary Leader of the Civic Union by Krishnan ally Emmanuel Carvallo, this report indicates that Krishnan plans to take more drastic action in light of the her failure to gain the necessary support for her nominations.

The Constitution of Fernão gives the President the power to declare a state of emergency for up to two weeks, so long as he or she has the consent of her Cabinet. Any further extensions of the state of emergency require the assent of the Senate. President Krishnan recently held an urgent meeting with her Cabinet. It's likely that the President's use of a state of emergency to further her nominees, along with her calling of a constituent convention with the goal of abolishing the constitution, will face stiff opposition from the Red-Green Alliance and allies.

The President will likely announce her plans tomorrow. More on this to come.

Before the most recent elections, Former Ambassador Allison Ricardo called our movement "anti-semitic". We hoped that this was due to misinformation provided to the former ambassador, and we requested she withdraw her statement and apologize, so petty accusations would not interrupt our focus in the election, policy.

It now appears, unfortunately, that former ambassador Ricardo's insults were not based in misinformation provided to her. The former ambassador responded to our request by repeatedly calling our movement anti-semitic, accusing us of maintaining a non-existent "blackshirt paramilitary", and insulted the core of our movement. It appears that the former ambassador's unfounded insults may have been politically motivated, as she went on to say after insulting the FPM that the city of Fortaleza must elect the RGA candidate for mayor, in the face of a farcical threat posed by our party.

The FPM Leadership Committee has received a number of complaints from party members throughout Fernão who have been unfairly treated because of the former ambassador's statements. Several party members and supporters have been fired from jobs in businesses run by Jewish Fernãoans, one woman in Fortaleza had her car graffiti'd with swastikas and insults calling her a "Jew-Hater". Thankfully no party members have reported being assaulted yet because of the former ambassador's statements, but we do worry for the safety of some members.

We feel it is important to reiterate that our party and our movement are not and have never been anti-semitic, nor do we approve of any kind of ignorant racism, sexism or other hateful ideology. When the courts of Fernão are properly manned, our party will be supporting it's members in several legal cases against the former ambassador.

BREAKING NEWS: RGA Senator Ritesh Bell Shot by Lone Gunman

- (Fortaleza, Fernao) Just moments ago, Senator Ritesh Bell of the Red-Green Alliance was shot while leaving the Senate building.

While walking down the steps of the building, he stopped to speak to reporters about the election of the President of the Senate. While walking to his car, he fell to the ground after being shot.

The gunman used a car in the parking lot as shelter while shooting at Bell. The gunman reportedly shouted, "COMMIE-ANARCHIST-RGA SCUM!" before shooting Bell. He then threw up a fascist salute and yelled, "Hail Matos! Hail victory!" Police then shot the gunman.

This is still a developing story and we will bring you the details as we can. The condition of Bell and the gunman are unknown, as is the identity of the gunman.

UPDATE: Senator Ritesh Bell has been declared dead by medical professionals. The gunman has been identified as 56-year-old Jimmie Baker, who was reportedly a known white nationalist and supporter of the Fernao Phalanx Movement. He often railed against leftists on social media. Other targets of Baker's included Iyasu Isaias Mengistu, Alexios Viel, and Reza Kassem. Police believe Baker targeted Ritesh Bell because he was not as protected as higher-up senators.

The Fernao Phalanx Movement has yet to release a statement on the assassination.

The Department of Justice and Policing issues a statement that police shot no one and that no one was taken into custody, and demands an official retraction from FNN.
