The Presidents Office releases a statement stating that all emails are forgeries, all the email addresses aren't even correct and that the Presidents Office isn't in Yew Street. The statement further points out that the government doesn't have any money because of the inertia in the Senate brought on by RGA obstructionism.

Offical Statement from Senator Stephan Dannon

"By now, many have heard of the apparent leak of civic union emails reported by news outlet FNN. Whoever faked these emails unfortunately is very misinformed or just stupid. Not only are they fabrications but they managed to misspell my name on the supposed emails. My name is Stephan not Stephen. The email address that is supposedly mine however says Stephen, go check if you would like. It is a poor fabrication that did not even get names right to even look authentic. Spelling matters people."

BREAKING NEWS: Kassem goes on the offensive against Ferreira
Wake Snapper, Fernão News Network | June 14 2017

Image
Reza Kassem (pictured) at a rally in Khan, Sarkar

- (Miliband, Fernão) As his whistle-stop tour with gubernatorial candidate David Bloom continues into its second day, Reza Kassem has taken to criticizing his opponent, Michael Ferreira of the Coalition of Workers and Farmers. After an attendee asked about a recent press release from Vice President Buddha Gonorrhea that claimed Ferreira was not a career politician, Kassem had this to say:

“That's quite a claim by the Vice President. Well, let's take a look at he facts. Last month, Michael Ferreira was nowhere near Sarkar's second district, the very seat he is attempting to earn the right to represent now. In fact, he was nowhere near Sarkar. Last month Michael Ferreira was running for the Senate in Ferdinand. Ferdinand's second district, to be specific. Now there's nothing necessarily wrong with that. After all, Michael Ferreira lived in Ferdinand; he still does, in fact. As far as I know, he's never lived in Sarkar, much less the very district he now seeks to represent. In fact, I'd be willing to bet that the first time he set foot in this district was when he filed to run!

“But if Michael Ferreira loved Ferdinand so much, why has he suddenly packed up and came to Sarkar? To answer that, we need only look at how Michael Ferreira did in his race to represent Ferdinand's second. Not well. Not well at all. The people of Ferdinand rejected him, by eighteen points no less. Seeing that Ferdinand did not want him, Michael Ferreira has come to Sarkar. Well, let me say that everyday, when I go out to meet and talk with the people of Sarkar's second, my constituents, I get the idea that Sarkar does not want Michael Ferreira either! Michael Ferreira: a career politician from Ferdinand. If Sarkar wanted that, we'd just elect Priscilla Krishnan!

“Michael Ferreira may think that he can pull a fast one on the people of Sarkar, but I know better. The people of Sarkar want to hear about how we plan to create jobs, like I did as Mayor of Miliband — Miliband is in Sarkar by the way, in case Mr. Ferreira didn't know. The people of Sarkar want to hear about how we're going to improve living standards and tackle inequality and poverty, not about privatizing public services, like Michael Ferreira voted to do in the Senate. That's why I'm asking the people of Sarkar to vote for me. I promise to always work for the betterment of you, the people, whether you voted for me or not. And if it makes a difference, I actually live in Sarkar!”

Priscilla Krishnan releases a statement reminding Senator Kassem that she was born and raised in the Port William area of Sakar and that she was first elected Senator at the age of 62 - hardly the start a career politician aims for.

Seo-Yeon attends a local party event

- (Miliband, Fernão)

In the last few days it was indicated that Senator Shim Seo-Yeon would be taking a far more active role in the current political campaign, and it appears that those sources were correct. After talking to a large gathering of her current constituents alongside longtime friend and ally David Lyons (RGA), the former Secretary of Public Works and the current Chief Minority Whip (respectively) immediately hopped onto an RGA coach and started to get to work on the wider national campaign trail.

Over the course of the following hours both clocked up some impressive mileage as they together visited the relatively marginal constituencies of Sarkar 1st, contested by Aminah Hadi, Sarkar 2nd, being contested by Reza Kassem and Ferdinand 2nd currently being contested by John Smith. In all of these seats, Shim Seo-Yeon and David Lyons took part in phone banking and fundraising efforts, delivered leaflets and posters and also helped introduce the candidates during rallies and campaign speeches.

Taking tips from Senator Lyons, whose impressive campaign schedule left many awed during the last election cycle, the Former Secretary made a remarkable display of stamina, maintaining an energetic pace throughout the day. Observers noted that she took the time to talk with local campaign staff and civilians and allowed virtually everyone to take a ludicrous amount of selfies, including with friend and confidant Reza Kassem, the former Mayor of Miliband running for Sarkar 2nd.

It is believed that Senator Seo-Yeon will host another event in her constituency before once again heading out into the national campaign to assist more RGA figures attempting to win their own elections.

Fernão TODAY

Opinion: The Civic Union's Disdain for Democracy

According to reporting from FNN, the Civic Union has abused federal funds to prop up their own electoral interests. This isn't a mistake of any kind. According to Wake Snapper's reporting, the Civic Union has been "ordering clandestine attacks on their opponents throughout the nation, with orders coming directly from No. 7 Yew Street and the Office of the President." Sadly, this fits in all too well with a pattern of behaviour from the Civic Union- one that puts power above all principles.

If Priscilla Krishnan really is ordering federally funded attacks on CU opponents, then it would only be one in a string of disturbing incidents. According to Golf Blitzen's reporting, Krishnan's government is actively persecuting Senator Viel for a crime he didn't commit. An ad by Viel alleged that Leopoldo Agramonte had supported the CIA-backed coup, and played an active role in facilitating oppression. He had admitted this much previously, prompting backlash. Considering this, it's hard to see the supposed libel investigation as anything other than the CU using the government to sabotage their political opponents.

The Civic Union's "anything goes" mentality isn't new- from the very foundation of our democracy, Priscilla Krishnan almost won the first ever election via massive voter fraud. Before, the idea this was a fluke seemed somewhat plausible. Now, it's just one of many examples of the shadiness of the Civic Union.

And the shadiness goes still further back. Many prominent Civic Union politicians were in direct support of an imperialist coup that devastated our country, particularly Senatorial candidates Dannon and Agramonte. Even ignoring those particularly objectionable cases, finding CivicUnion politicians who actively opposed the dictatorship rather than staying silent are few and far between. The truth is, the Civic Union as a party has failed to properly distance themselves from dictatorship and oppression. This would explain their aversion to free and fair elections.

What the Civic Union needs now more than ever is a wake up call- some time out of government, and pressure for leadership change. The Civic Union could perhaps be a commendable party if only they minded the democratic institutions that make this country great, rather than fabricating investigations, using public funds for political gain, and honouring imperialism and dictatorship.

Viel Attends Local Community Project, Chief of Staff Addresses Recent Leaks
Nuñes Fox, Fernão News Network | June 14, 2017

Image
Viel's Chief of Staff, Melissa Zhang, addressed reporters in a darkened room in Viel's headquarters.

- (Govila, Ferdinand, Fernão) Recently, Alexios Viel was spotted working with volunteers and supporters alike to plant trees at a local park. From our sources here in FNN, no reporters were made aware of Senator Viel's participation in the project, and was only seen after some of his supporters posting pictures of him with a shovel, digging a small hole in the ground to plant a tree sapling, online. Luckily, before the project ended, one of our FNN reporters was able to catch up to him. Viel was visibly sweating, and his gloves were grimy with dirt from all the shovelling and accommodating the saplings in their new home. Here's what he had to say.

"Whenever a politician has the time, they should always give back to their constituents in more ways than just legislation. My wonderful staff was able to handle some of my paperwork, so I was able to come here without too much hassle."

When asked why he chose the specific project, he stated, "People sometimes don't realise just how amazing and enriching it is to come down here and just sit in these parks, with the fountain pleasantly gurgling and the wind going through the trees. Some on the right may call me tree-hugging, but this is an experience that I enjoy, and I want to make sure that future generations will be able to enjoy it too. I'm just pitching in here in this small project, but the Red-Green Alliance is focused on much larger things, like the National Park system, of which a bill was introduced by a fellow RGA Senator of mine. Obviously I can't go to a national park today, so I make do with what I can do here."

After that, he left, not commenting on his opponent's recent interview. Although Viel took this day off, his schedule has been near breakneck, with back-to-back appearances at a local farmer's hall and union meeting. He's also been actively involved in the fundraising efforts, personally phonebanking and going door-to-door in lower-class neighborhoods, seeing as they might not have access to a television or mailing service to hear his message. Viel's also been spotted taking pictures with his supporters in all sorts of environments: urban cities, farms, schools and even at a sewage treatment plant, his supporter laughing at Viel's scrunched face over the smell. However, Viel was soon laughing afterwards, and a few photos later show he left the plant smiling, nostrils hopefully still intact.

In other news, Viel's Chief of Staff, Melissa Zhang, had tough words for the Civic Union after it was revealed in an FNN report that Civic Union operatives had deliberatively cyber-attacked and attempted to sabotage their operations.

"These allegations of cyberattacks are incredibly serious, and I have been in contact with cybersecurity experts to assess our current situation and to better secure our operations. This is dirty politics at its worst, and it only goes to show how desperate our opponents are to silence our message to the people of Fernão — the message of a better, cleaner and more prosperous nation. As well, we have been in contact with private security firms, and have increased the security presence at our headquarters, subsidiary offices and volunteering centres. We will never stop fighting for the people of this great country, no matter how many obstacles those who wish to silence us may throw at us."

Asked if whether she believes Agramonte, Viel's opponent, had a role in this situation, Zhang said, "I do not personally believe that Mr. Agramonte's campaign had anything to do with these alleged physical and cyberattacks, but we hope that he'll be sufficiently strong as to condemn the alleged attacks made against us. After all, he is clearly benefiting from these attacks, whether aware or unaware — now that he is aware, we await his condemnation of the alleged attacks made against us."

EDIT: It was recently stated by the Department of Justice and Policing that the leaks were of false nature, and that a criminal investigation has been launched. Chief of Staff Zhang has stated that "for precautions sake, we will continue our fortifications of our internet assets, though we have cancelled the increased physical security. I won't feel safe about this until this election is over — Mr. Agramonte does not need to condemn these discredited attacks, and our campaigns will be in contact soon over increased cybersecurity for both operations."

FPM keeps marching on
Leonardo Águas, Fernão Zenith | June 15th, 2017

Cristovao Matos at campaign event, FD-3

- The Fernão Phalanx Movement's dark horse campaign continues in earnest today, after both of it's major candidates in the electoral cycle have gained in the polls, if not by much. The FPM, which got much attention for it's surprising online presence in the Ferdinand gubernatorial election, has again set up campaign websites for the Matos candidacy in FD-3, and the Seabra candidacy in Fortaleza. The websites include recordings of speeches and rallies, explanations of policies, registries to sign up as volunteers and donation boxes.

While a string of parties have come out with official endorsements for electoral races, the FPM is notably yet to do so. Anonymous members of the FPM leadership said that it was the party's opinion that "We only want candidates who can give Fernão the service it needs, and we're not going to endorse any candidate that doesn't fulfill some pretty strict criteria. Most candidates this cycle do not tick many boxes for us."

In Mococa, where the independence referendum has brought surprisingly little attention, the FPM has continued it's Remain campaign, handing out fliers and canvassing with posters that advertise why the tiny island could not survive as an independent nation. The FPM is one of the only political organizations to be expending resources on the Mococan referendum, going to show how seriously they take national unity.

In FD-3, Cristovao Matos held a rally in [biggest city], which was available as a livestream online. The stream was played in multiple different campaign events organized by Vanguard volunteers throughout the electorate. In the rally, Matos said that "the establishment is scared of our movement. And they should be. Every party who's endorsed a candidate in FD-3 has endorsed my opponent, but we're the ones rising in the polls. The big two parties, and their carry-ons, hope they can squash our movement because it poses a real threat to them. They are scared because people in this electorate are listening to policy, not politics."

Matos went on to say that the major parties relied on misinformation and petty politics to hold on to their power. He said that his RGA opponent in FD-3 was much more likely to spend the next month trying to take petty shots at the equally bad Civic Union than focus on policy. Advertisements have also ran throughout the electorate saying "The RGA likes to talk. The FPM likes to listen."

In Fortaleza, former sewage worker Ulisses Seabra continues his campaign for Mayor, with a rally in a poor suburb of the city. Seabra invited reporters to the event and directed their attention to the refuse in the streets, the dilapidated buildings, and hole-pocked roads. Seabra said that this was the kind of living environment that established politics creates. He said, to some laughter, "I'm sure the residents of these run-down complexes will be very grateful if my competitor, Nick Haverkamp is elected. After all, the priority for these people is making sure they have the legal deed to continue living in these circumstances."

Seabra ended his rally by promising to do better for the worse off in Fortaleza. Later on in the day, phone-banking campaigns began which focused on Seabra's common sense policies for making Fortaleza a better place to live, rather than Haverkamp or Nagarkar's promises to make Fortaleza a better place to invest. The campaign said that Seabra cared about lives, not money. Seabra was seen in the afternoon helping volunteers clean up refuse, reporters had not been invited.

Agramonte's visit to Ferdinand church interrupted by protesters
As many as 200 show up to express their anger against the CU altogether

In an unexpected turn of events, Leopoldo Agramonte's latest stop in his campaign was nearly halted completely by a relatively small group of protesters. He was attending the Ferdinand Church of Christ when demonstrators blocked the main entryway. Some chanted "No aggression, no Agramonte!" or "Leopoldo has got to go!" and carried signs that portrayed the candidate wearing the infamous Soetoro uniform, comparing him to the ruthles dictator. Rather than use a security dispatch to remove the protestors, Leopoldo took the extra time available to sign a $3,000 check as a donation (a majority of his campaign allowance). The church is well-known across the country for its charitable endeavors. He followed up with a brief prayer and words of solidarity for everyone in attendance. Eyewitnesses noticed a distinct lack of political discussion while inside the church.

"This, my friends," he started. "Is what freedom entails. God has been kind to this land. I pray that we can enjoy peace and democracy as He intended. Amen."

As he finished speaking, the demonstrators opened the front doors and swarmed in. Many accused Mr. Agramonte of being involved in the recent cyberattack scandal plaguing the CU. Others still focused their criticism on his military career, a topic which has bogged down his campaign since the beginning, yet the candidate patiently waited ten minutes before responding. His personal secretary left the scene out of fear of potential violence. Nevertheless, Leopoldo responded as thus: "I had been hoping that we could not bring our external troubles into this house of the Lord. However, it has become apparent that these rumors of sabotage are very serious. As loyal citizens, we all expect fairness and clarity in our government. It personally hurts me to hear about these accusations. We need to stand together and demand that this matter is investigated thoroughly."

He continued. "If this story is true, I am appalled. The people deserve better. If this story is false, I am determined to get to the bottom of this and find the troublemaker responsible. I have never taken part in any illegal activity throughout my life, and so I am obligated to seek the truth before our precious liberties are withered away."

Department of Justice and Policing
Briefing Room A, Barr E. O'Bammer Federal Building

A petite woman in a traditional Indian robe walked into the briefing room, a stack of manila folders under her left arm and a BlackBerry in hand. It was Sonia Swaraj, the Department of Justice's press secretary.

"Good morning," she said with an accent that hinted at her Bengali heritage.

"Welcome to the O'Bammer Building's BRA. I am Sonia Swaraj and I am the spokesperson for Dr. Al-Ghamdi and the Justice Department. Thank you for attending this briefing."

"I would first like to start by expressing Dr. Al-Ghamdi's disappointment at the lack of progress in the Senate on filling the judicial vacancies that have paralysed our justice system. Without the judges in place, we cannot bring justice to victims or even arrest suspects, as we would have to release them under habeas corpus without judges available to remand them into custody."

"The Justice Department calls upon both party leaders to immediately fill the benches of our nation's courts. You cannot play politics with people's lives. Every minute that passes is another minute of lawless anarchy."

"I would also like to address the recent release of files attributed to President Krishnan and her advisors. The Justice Department is yet to find any evidence corroborating its authenticity; indeed, we have found a body of evidence to the contrary. In other words, we believe these files to be a concerted and malicious attempt to spread false and slanderous information in order to have a material effect on the midterm elections."

She paused for dramatic effect.

"Make no mistake. If you create and spread malicious lies, you will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Traducement is a crime, and those who partake in this illegal activity will be arrested, charged and imprisoned. We ask all people with information about these files to contact the Justice Department's Fraud Unit without delay."

"Lastly, we have no knowledge of any investigation by the Department of Public Prosecutions against Senator Viel, but we cannot speak for the Federal Police or local police departments."

"Are there any questions?"

Hello Cordogena! Now it's midterms and running for reelection as the Senator for Eastern Fortaleza. As the Government Whip, I have seen the Red-Green Alliance stop what you voted for last election in its tracks. Because of the Red-Green Alliance, President Krishnan doesn't have a cabinet yet. The Red-Green Alliance is full of salt.

Vote for the Civic Union to tell the Red-Green Alliance no. Tell the Red-Green Alliance that we cannot have salt in our nation's legislative chamber. It hurts Fernao. Vote for me as your Senator and I will ensure that the Civic Union will make your life better. We need to establish a government framework that the Red-Green Alliance is not letting us do. What is even more shocking is that we had to push hard to pass the Criminal Code of Fernao. The Red-Green Alliance calls me partisan, but the fact is that the Red-Green Alliance are the partisan hacks. A vote for me is a vote to stop them in their tracks and to start putting Fernao in the right direction.

Merci.

Chetan Nagarkar was spotted on the campaign trail again this morning, after assisting local volunteers to coordinate the start of an official phone banking campaign the RGA-backed candidate joined energetic locals to distribute leaflets across several housing estates and slums in the city, with the RGA-backed candidate spotted speaking to several residents of the city and expressing his wishes to improve living conditions in the city by constructing new affordable housing and improving the city's dilapidated infrastructure.

After completing the leaflet-drop campaign and having lunch with the local volunteers and staffers Chetan Nagarkar gave a speech to a local community centre, one that was also livestreamed on facebook, pericope, youtube and the campaign website (Nagarkar.fn)

"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen,

I am extremely proud that I grew up in this city, and when I have spoken to fellow locals during this campaign they've also expressed a similar sentiment but they've also talked about the appalling condition of the local housing, the crumbling state of the local infrastructure, the poor state of the local economy and the rising cost of living. Yesterday I signed a commitment to fighting against homelessness and removing the scourge of slums and unlivable housing by constructing affordable housing for purchase and rent, and expressed my support for small and local businesses and talked to them about my ambition to repair and modernise our infrastructure and strengthen our public services.

I've also heard that one of my rivals Nick Haverkamp gave a speech to the local branch of the Chamber of Commerce recently, and while I agree that we need to make Fortaleza an attractive place for local and international investment I also find myself in sharp disagreement with another portion of his speech, that being the use of the private sector in the redevelopment of our cities infrastructure.

We need to invest in affordable housing, strong public services and modern and efficient infrastructure but we also need to ensure that we get the best deal for the Fortalezan taxpayers, and we've seen countless examples from cities across the world of private corporations profiteering from government contracts. In order to negate that risk, we need to ensure that our local government maintains open bidding procedures for these types of contracts and respects the principles of transparent governance.

As for Ulisses Seabra? I have heard some of his campaign speeches and I have to say they don't ring true with me. You know I have lived in this city my entire life. It is one of the reasons I am fighting to ensure that everyone in this city has the opportunity to purchase or rent a place they can call home, that we have strong public services, modern and efficient infrastructure and well-paying jobs to offset the cost of living and while I have mentioned that I wish to attract international investment I did so because I want our economy to grow so that we can afford to improve the living conditions for everyone. It should also be said that the Fernão Phalanx Movement which Ulisses Seabra belongs to wishes to end the current system of democracy in this country by banning all other political parties.

At the end of the day, you have a clear choice ahead of you. You can support Nick Haverkamp, a candidate supported by the wealthy elite and one that won't really address the complaints of the working and middle class, Ulisses Seabra, a candidate that claims to stand up for the working and middle class while working for an extreme political party that wishes to end the multi-party system of democracy we fought for, or you can support me, a candidate that is truly invested in improving the living conditions of everyone in this city by improving local infrastructure and public services, building affordable properties and helping small and medium businesses create thousands of new well-paying jobs."

Sen. Viel Begins Town Hall-style Panels
Nuñes Fox, Fernão News Network | June 15, 2017

Senator Viel and his aides sit on a panel before a group of everyday Fernãoans.

- (Govila, Ferdinand, Fernão) Senator Alexios Viel's (RGA) campaign recently reported in a statement that due to the success of its recent fundraising efforts, Mr. Viel will be able to attend town hall panels, like the one he did rather recently. Speaking before a diverse crowd at a school, Viel stressed the importance of good-paying jobs being made available to all Fernãoans.

"Every person in this room today should be able to get a good-paying, satisfying job through skill and merit alone. Now, how do you achieve this? My right-wing colleagues may say that we need to slash corporate taxes and eliminate environmental regulations, but we know this helps no one besides the giant corporations who want nothing but to line their pockets at the expense of the many. These companies would love nothing more than to bulldoze a national park to put up a strip mall, and under my watch, I will fight to ensure such a thing can never happen in our country."

"What we need is the following: making serious, bold investments into our crumbling infrastructure, as I have set forth in my Federal Infrastructure Act — promotion of small businesses through tax relief and decreasing domestic trade barriers, as I have set the foundation for in my Government Revenue Act — increasing our involvement in renewable energy to open up entire sectors of the economy, which can be done by the United Nations Environmental Cooperation Act, a bill I strongly support and co-sponsored — and we will support scientific research and innovation in our country by establishing a grant programme for youth and adult researchers who discover new ways to deal with the many issues we face today, from the economy to the environment."

"My opponent doesn't really have a job growth plan outside of what is essentially bringing back coal and putting giant corporations on the government teat, which we already know doesn't work. Not only that, but he has not introduced or even co-sponsored any meaningful legislation to get you a job, as I have."

"Friends, the path is clear: the Civic Union hasn't even tried to put these important bills on their second readings, sticking to just complaining about my party being 'obstructionist' while they themselves claim to be in the 'majority.' They haven't even released a party platform yet! Myself and the Red-Green Alliance are projecting a clear path forward through real legislation and Senatorial debate, rather than just talk. Vote for me, so we can get back to work to building a better country for all of us. Thank you."

Mr. Viel has continued to participate in these panels, with one even hosted inside the barn of a supportive farmer. The farmer reportedly refused payment, only accepting Viel's staff to clean up afterwards and to stay to try the farmer's wife's "famous lemon squares." Viel's secretary did say in a short call-in to a local radio station that the squares were "delicious."

Television ads begin to air across Mococa. They are aired on thousands of TVs and almost all Mococans see them.

Will Mococa be better off by itself? If we leave Fernao, Mococa will be nothing but a tiny, poor, crime-ridden anarchy.
Image

Barry Chiroto lied to you. Mococa cannot be better off by itself.
Image

Let's stay with Fernao, where the citizens of Mococa will be protected.
Image

Where there is a booming economy and unprecedented business opportunity and innovation.
Image

Mococa is stronger and more prosperous in Fernao. Let's stand together to keep Mococa in and keep Mococa strong. Vote Remain.

Politicians from around New Guernsey travel to Mococa to campaign for Remain. They goes door to door, handing out pamphlets, shaking hands and explaining to residents why they should vote Remain. A small event is held (as big as it gets in Mococa :p), campaigning for Mococa to stay in Fernao. When one of the campaigners was asked by a reporter why he traveled out of his way to a small community to campaign against their independence, he said, "Two things. Firstly, I care about all Fernaoans, including Mococans, and I think Mococans are better off in Fernao. Secondly, I care about my country, and I want to keep Fernao together."

[OOC: Bell is NOT behind the TV ads.]
[EDIT: RItesh Bell wasn't campaigning. It was just people.]

Civic Square
Downtown Fortaleza

Despite the overcast skies and isolated precipitation that have confined all but the hardiest Fortalezans indoors, hundreds had turned up to Nick Haverkmap's campaign event in the downtown core. Wearing a suit, despite the humidity and imminent threat of rain, he addressed a crowd where many were wielding umbrellas or covered in plastic ponchoes.

"Good afternoon Fortaleza!"

"For too long, Fortaleza has been ignored by Fernão's political establishment. The Senate is yet to budget a single penny for our city's development because of its dysfunctional gridlock; meanwhile in their vanity, senators have kept a blatantly illegal law on the books allowing them to overturn our local laws, in violation of the basic principles of federalism in our constitution. Our city deserves better. We must forge our own path forward, in conjunction with the federal government but not in subjugation."

"What our campaign is about is simple: returning political power in Fortaleza to the people. This means reasserting the legislative primacy of the local government in local affairs, rejecting crony politics and ensuring popular consultation in all key decisions."

"I will govern our city fairly and consult the city council on a decisions, even when not legally necessary. We must avoid the gridlock partisan politics we see on the federal stage by building consensus-driven politics in Fortaleza. Furthermore, I will ensure that we do not pass down the burdens of debt and financial insolvency to our posterity -- the city must run balanced budgets and deficit spending in normal circumstances must be heavily curtailed, if not banned."

"Furthermore, I will position Fortaleza as a global city ready for the 21st century. This means creating stable, accessible economic and political institutions to attract foreign investment and encourage local business to flourish. Institutions like simple, straightforward incorporation processes for creating businesses in the city and an investment Bank to help Fortalezan entrepreneurs. We have seen across the world, in places as diverse as Jakarta, Mumbai and Shanghai, when we empower citizens' entrepreneurial skills, everyone benefits."

"I will also fight on behalf of the city's have-nots. The city government must step in and fill the gap that the Senate's lack of meaningful legislative action has created and provide a safety net for our most vulnerable citizens. This means, guaranteeing the property rights of people previously viewed as squatters so that greedy developers cannot displace them without fair compensation, establishing public housing options for low-income residents, creating shelters for victims of rape and domestic abuse, and subsidising public transportation so that bus access is affordable, reliable and universal."

"I will also fight for better infrastructure. In my previous job with Alstom, I have witnessed first-hand the positive effects of transit-oriented development on a city, and I will push for federal funding to build a light rail system and commuter train system to interconnect and unify Metro Fortaleza in a green, socially responsible manner. I will also push for a modernisation of Fortaleza International Airport, as to allow the main international gateway to the nation to languish in neglect is a travesty, and for an expansion of the Port of Fortaleza, as a modern seaport is a key driver of growth in any coastal city. In doing so, I will not hesitate to work with members of other parties to get things done: our city cannot be defined by the party registration of the man in the mayor's chair."

"I won't lie to you: this won't be easy. Those opposed to progress in Fortaleza are putting up roadblocks at every step of the way of our campaign, afraid of what would happen if our movement was to assume the mayoralty and bring real change. You see this in the criminal fake news spread by certain partisan groups trying to vilify my friend and ally, President Krishnan, and in the rise of the far-right Phalanx Movement that caters to the hateful lowest common denominator and would take our nation back down the path towards dictatorship."

"We will fight and we will win, because our optimism for the future of Fortaleza is undying. Together, there is nothing that we can't achieve, there is no obstacle too great. Nothing will stop us from re-empowering Fortalezans to achieve their potential in the world."

"For a diverse, inclusive city that is open to the world, vote Haverkamp in the mayoral race! Together, we will move our city forward! Thank you for coming and be safe on your way back."

$30,000 worth of advertising based on rally soundbites are subsequently booked on local media by the campaign in the hopes of blanketing the media market.

SOME NEWS WEBSITE

In a statement provided in writing to several news outlets that requested comment, Justice Department press secretary Sonia Swaraj expressed 'concern' at the purported independence referendum in Mococa. However, deferring to President Krishnan's previous comments on the topic, she ruled out federal intervention to prevent the vote.

"The Department (of Justice and Policing) views this vote as consultative and devoid of any legal or constitutional mandate under federal and New Guernsey law," Ms. Swaraj wrote in the statement. "As this vote will have no actual effect on the political status of the city of Mococa, which as a creation of the New Guernsey legislature has no innate legal authority, let alone the power to alter its constitutional status, we see no cause for intervention."

When asked about whether the federal government would entertain secession of Mococa under any circumstance, she declined to comment, adding that this was a political question and referring journalists to the offices of President Krishnan and the Majority and Minority Leaders.

She explicitly rejected the characterisation of the Leave campaign as 'seditious', a charge advanced by certain far-right figures. "Anyone with such a belief should read the law in question before making unsubstantiated accusations."

Official General Union of Workers Press Release

The General Union of Workers voted today to endorse Aminah Hadi in SA-1, Reza Kassem in SA-2, John Smith in FD-2, José Luis Echeverría in FD-3, Alexios Viel in FD-4, Luen Veas in NG-1, Iyasu Isaias Mengistu in NG-3, Shim Seo-yeon in Maabara At-Large, and Chetan Nagarkar for Fortalezan Mayor. We do so because of these Senators' consistent support of workers' rights, but also because of the rising far-right threat in Fernão. The General Union of Workers stands for all working men and women, no matter their color or creed. We also announce our support for the Leave campaign in Mococa.

The endorsed Senators should expect the full support of the General Union of Workers in terms of canvassing and getting out the vote. Teams of union staffers will assist the candidates' in their efforts, and the UGT will conduct a GOTV campaign to ensure that these exemplary men and women win their elections. Additionally, these candidates will receive the full backing of the UGT financially. We will stop at nothing to prevent the rise of fascism in Fernão.
