Damn, Reinard's going to have a hard time with this one.

And the others are gonna point and laugh at him trying to cope. :P

But anyways, I would like to state one little thing regarding the set of tourneys here: try not to get the fight to your OOC head. This is just the part of the RP where you pit up your characters in glorious combat with other characters RWBY-style, and they're the ones doing the fighting, not you. Yes, do your thought-up battle plans and make the most out of the situations your characters may find themselves in, but don't go all "MY CHAR IS BEST CHAR" on everyone else, okay?

As stated in the rules, you cannot metagame or powergame your characters to win the fight. That's just bad form. If there is any metagaming or powergaming on your part, especially if you're going to be going up against NPCs, you will lose. If your PCs are going to fight against other PCs, then you can say they know some of what the other team is going to do but not everything. On the other hand, if your characters are facing against NPCs (should you decide to play that fight out), they have no idea of what they're going to do or how they're going to react to your characters' decisions in battle. Your characters must learn to adapt to the situation if they wanna edge out over the NPC team.

But again, that doesn't mean they're always going to win, no matter how much you say, "Come on, Storm! They're just NPCs!". The reason why they're currently arranged the way they are is so that the Co-OPs and I can be able to utilize as many PC-vs-PC or PC-vs-NPC matches as possible and hopefully balance out. I think that's all for now bcoz I am incapable of dragging out an OOC post to walls-of-text proportions, but I'm sure you get the seriousness of why I wanted to tell y'all this now.

Just noticed a slight problem: Durmatagno, Adan's roleplayer, has CTE'd. CLL could try fighting with three members but somehow I don't think that that would go well.

*chuckles* Yes, indeed. In all seriousness, though, I've been thinking about the issue for a short while, now: I wouldn't necessarily mind taking on Adan Lazuli for myself, given that I am shortly to have a lot of free time on my hands.

You'll have to ask him for permission first. Adan is his IP, after all.

Which, of course, has now been rendered nigh-on impossible as a result of his ceasing to exist. I'll go though the Terms and Conditions of the website to check as to whether there is an exception but, assuming that you're right, we need a new teammate, quickly - and preferably one whose name begins with an 'A'.

So I'm currently toying with a more unconventional character, a student who has spent almost their entire life in the wilderness outside of major towns and settlements, but for what I'm thinking I'll need to start them off outside of the current setting of Vale and Beacon. With the whole not changing the setting rule, what guidelines should I follow in introducing this character?

Edit: Also what are the guidelines on telepathy as a semblance?

Hmmm, you mean like a foreign student? I guess you can do that. No one's ever done a character from an Academy besides Beacon yet. For reference that is Atlas, Shade (Vacuo), and Haven (Mistral). I think it would be interesting. :)

And you heard that right, future applicants. You can apply as foreign Hunters-in-training and by extension as foreign teams. It's the tournament after all!

Should you wish to introduce this character at where we are right now in the story, should you choose to do a student from the other schools, it can be one of two ways: either he/she is a foreign exchange student who has been at Beacon for a couple of weeks, or had just arrived at Beacon in order to participate in the Vytal Festival tournament. If you wanna team up with others to form a team, that's fine.

In regards to telepathy, how exactly would it work? There are many kinds of methods of telepathy as well as limitations that people consider when making an effective superpower. As OP I tend to want to look for details on how the Semblance works and how it would help the character in battle, and if the Semblance may lead to powerwanking and other bad OOC behavior.

Foreign isn't quite right, but it'll just be easier to explain in the application. I'll put it up and you can judge everything from there.

If the match with BAST has lots of surfaces, like say, urban, rocky, or forest, then Silvia can put her ricochet shots to good use. No one enjoys being engaged with a swarm of grenades bouncing off walls towards them.

CHARACTER INFORMATION
Name: Hall Grey
Age: 17
Sex: Male
Race: [ ] Human [x] Faunus
Animal Traits (Omit if human): Wolf Tail
Biography: Hall was born into a small Faunus settlement in the wilderness of the kingdom of Vale. When he was very young a young woman from a nearby settlement accused several men from his village of attacking her, and the ruling council demanded they be brought in for trial. Hall's village refused the request fearing an unfair trial and killing, enraging their neighbors who proceeded to attack them and burn the village to the ground after a heated argument between village elders and a lynching mob outside the village. During the raid Hall suffered severe injuries, especially to his throat and vocal cords, and lost the ability to make any sounds beyond guttural roars and shrieks. Hidden under some rubble and unconscious, Hall was the sole survivor of the attack and was later found by a reclusive man by the name of Lazu Clemens. Clemens lived in a small, secluded valley surrounded by mountains and made his own food and weapons to protect and provide for himself. Taking in Hall, he named and took care of the child, making his weapon and training him to defend himself and teaching him to find calm following the turmoil of his homes destruction. Hall learned much from him, and for years they lived in peace. Fen had largely subdued his hatred of humans when a group of bandits stumbled across Clemens' home and raided it for supplies. Clemens died in the attack and Hall fled into the wilderness where he survived off of the animals in the area and stealing supplies from villages he happened across for the following years.
Personality: Hall is largely quiet and reserved, and communicates largely through emotions and concepts rather than words. While he does stay silent for the most part, he also exhibits a feral rage in battle and is easily angered in the face of aggression or taunting towards him or a Faunus. He often shows many behaviors similar to that of animals, and is not well socialized. Fen has little trust for anyone, and is especially suspicious of humans.
Appearance: Dark gray hair and brown eyes. White, severe scarring on the throat and lower jaw and a long scar from his temple to his jaw. Wears dark clothes and boots and generally has a scarf pulled up to his nose in order to cover the scarring on his throat.
Reference Image(s): (Optional)

COMBAT INFORMATION
Weapon: Rending Claw
Appearance: Metal claws on fingers, and an opening on the bottom of the wrist where retractable bladed whips extend from.
Capabilities: Claws can rip through flesh and armor easily, the whip can extend to 20ft in length and slices with long slashes, straight throws to impale with the speared tip, or can wrap around opponents and their limbs to pull them in for a close up engagement.

Semblance: Telepathy. Due to his vocal cords not working, Hall primarily communicates through his semblance. By reaching out to other people's minds he can convey sensations, sounds, sights, smells, memories, and emotions. Others can also convey these things to him, though it requires him to establish contact. People can resist Hall's telepathic presence, but without preparation and practice it becomes difficult to resist him if he actively focus' on entering a person's mind by force. In combat this semblance allows him to stun his opponents with sudden waves of emotion or sound, or he can work to subtly influence a persons state of mind to create a sense of calm to make anything he may be stalking relax. Humans sense his presence in their mind more easily than animals. (Not sure how this would work on creatures of Grimm)

OOC INFORMATION
RP Activity: I'll post two or three times a week at minimum. I won't have internet for a few spots over the summer, so I'll make sure to let you know when those are coming up.

Well, the RP does follow the RWBY canon from Volume 1 to 3 except when it doesn't (which will be very very soon!), so you can say that it was mostly students at Beacon causing all kinds of shenanigans and such. Not much to create a synopsis out of yet beyond some notable events such as Aiden's fight with a teacher, a food fight (different from the one in V2), and a holiday-themed school dance since at the time of the RP it was Christmas irl.

I have no major objections to your app, but I do have a personal suggestion. In his bio, there should be a portion for how Fenris came to Vale and to Beacon, since he was born outside of the kingdom. I want to know how he eventually became a student and all, considering his background. Other than that, it's pretty much solid. Accepted. :)

You don't have to introduce him as a newcomer who has just been accepted at Beacon. He's already a student there for a while, and he has just stopped being a shadow person (background character) in the RP. Feel free to explore the setting, but I do recommend he start at the fairgrounds. There are some students and/or booths there that he might wanna interact with.

If it's not a problem I would actually prefer to introduce him as a new student. There are a few scene's I'd like to do with him adjusting to living at the school and learning to curb his emotions and aggressive behavior that don't make a ton of sense if he's already at Beacon. I plan on creating a team with some other people who plan on applying soon, so we can coordinate him coming to Vale.

Name: Tasha Eleos
Age: 17
Sex: Female
Race: [x] Human [ ] Faunus
Animal Traits (Omit if human):
Biography: Tasha was born into a family of farmers, and for many years it appeared that she would take up that mantle and follow in her families footsteps. That is, until one day her aura was awakened and she found an adeptness for combat. Once it became possible in her eyes to become one of the Huntresses that she looked up to it was the only thing she wanted to do, and after many days of begging her parents caved and signed her up for combat school. Tasha quickly excelled in her classes, showing a knack for a supportive combat role but also preforming adequately on her own. It seemed she was on track to enroll in the prestigious Beacon Academy. Sadly, hard times fell on her family back at the farm and when the time came to sign up for Beacon there was no money to spare. Forced to go back to the farm and abandon the city and school life she loved, Tasha sulked away for the remainder of the year, often wandering the forest. One spark of happiness in her life was the upcoming Vytal Festival, where the prospect of watching Huntsmen and Huntresses in training might prove to lift her spirit.
Personality: Tasha is a cheery and compassionate person that empathizes with those around her. She actively works to make sure everyone feels welcome and comfortable, but doesn't try to make herself the center of attention. Slow to anger and quick to forgive, she is the epitome of a caring team member who avoids conflict.

Semblance: Healing Presence. Tasha emits a general aura of well being, with plants perking up when she passes and peoples mental and physical states subtly improving by simply being around her. Any effect beyond curing a minor sore throats or headaches requires her to put some effort into boosting the stamina and strength of those around her. She can heal wounds and help rejuvenate part of a persons aura, but it requires focusing onto a single target and takes significantly more effort.

Are Huntsman internships still happening, or is that over at this point?
