BACKSTORY
So what is this?
This here, is my first attempt at creating an RP on NationStates, something I have to say I'm quite excited in doing. After doing some browsing, I noticed the lack of a WW2 themed RP, so decided to make one myself. Needless to say, I'm rather satisfied with the given results, and hope that anyone who participates in RED DAWN: The Next World War will find it enjoyable. I for one, do not require that you have any prior RP experience: as long as you can write decently, you're in (the quality of your application will be important in determining this). Indeed, if things turn out well, the world of RED DAWN: The Next World War could possibly be built upon, up through the cold war and into the modern day. It all depends on the players, and which means both you and me.
Within the RP, you can apply as either an organization or/and a nation, and you will be taking charge of your nation / organization as the world advances into World War 2 from the starting year of 1938. Be aware that the current power blocs are those around the western capitalist states and the UESR / communist internationale. The outcome of the war is solely dependent on your choices and actions, which will come to shape the world as the RP progresses.
Rules, Regulations, and some Basic Information
- Follow the given rules. I am willing to take criticism and make certain exceptions in some cases, but don't count on it.
- OP's word is final. If OP is not available, defer to CO-OPs.
- No god-modding / meta-gaming. Be realistic in what you do, and no, Switzerland is not making atomic weapons.
- As state above, be realistic in your actions. A nation such as Scandinavia won't be able to field a multi-million man army, because it lacks the population to do so. Don't do things like that, or you will be warned.
- 3 strikes and you're out. I won't tolerate flaming or trolling of any kind here. Each time you're accused of doing so, you'll get one strike and a warning to stop.
- A minimum requirement of 3 paragraph posts for anyone. Major powers (UESR, USA, most Western European nations) are expected to post at least 5 paragraphs per post. Determining who is considered a "major power" is up to the OP and CO-OPs. Larger posts are perfectly welcome, and encouraged.
- NO atomic weapons until 1945, although early weapons testing can begin in late 44'. When atomic weapons have been created, their use will be heavily monitored and scrutinized. Do note that the atomic bomb isn't a war winning weapon if you don't know how to use it. Following this up, no atomic V-2 type rockets till 46' at a minimum.
- Tech as a whole is a few years ahead of RL. This means that early war Tiger tanks are plausible, with jet aircraft being a possible mid-war occurrence. Be sure to brief the OP and CO-OPs on any ideas you have.
