For our 750th Annual Witches’ Ball!

This is a sandbox RP, it’ll go at a moderate pace. I’m mainly putting it up because everything I’m in right now is pretty much at a snail’s pace. This is a dance and a gathering…with a twist. The name I got from my awesome friend Flarbinia.


So the Black Hat Society is inviting fellow witches and wizards from all over the world to attend the annual Witches’ Ball, a secret gathering of witches and wizards every full moon of October. Covens from all over the world come to recruit, trade magic secrets, form their own covens, and perhaps other relationships. This year, it’s taking place on Skull Island at the Orpheus mansion, home of Head Wizard Andreas Child. The Child family is a line of powerful wizards and witches tracing their ancestry back to Scotland, magic has been in their line for over five hundred years and they are partial founders of the Black Hat society, one of the leading covens in the world. Skull Island has been their ancestral home for three generations, an island off the cost of Eastern Scotland, invisible to non magical people.

Head Witch Esmerelda Polkiss, another member of the Black Hats will be there as well. It’s a week long revel that concludes with the Samhain celebrations that Sunday night. However, unknown to the magical revelers there is something strange about that house, and an old forgotten evil long thought sealed away will rise again, testing the partygoers and their friendships as well as their magic. This gathering is going to take a rather sinister and dark turn. Can anybody even be trusted anymore? Can you trust yourself? Is there some spell at work? Nobody knows, but it’s up to you to figure it out.


Right, now in this RP, it’s pretty much like Surivor/Whodunnit. It starts off with a death at the end of the party, and nobody knows who did it. Also…the guests realize that they cannot leave the island, something invisible, most likely magic is keeping them trapped there. The game is pretty sandbox, but ultimately the goal is to find the killer and NOT get killed yourself, keep in mind your character can die. Defeat them, and find a way off this island. Can you survive until Samhain?

Personality: She's very free spirited and treasures tradition but loves to put her own spin on things, she's like a rebel punk witch who likes to dabble in the wild side of life. Kind, boisterous and friendly she turns into a much more serious animal in times of crisis and when her family is in danger.
Bio: Glenda is the eldest of three children born into the Goethe family, a prominent witching family with their base in New Orleans, the magic capital of the world. She is the older sister of Gladys and Gideon Goethe, born on Beltane. Her parents, Gideon Sr. and Taryn (nee Ortiz) raised them Wiccan, known to witches and wizards as the Old Religion, because it's the very first and some consider it the purest magical religion. They were taught how to control and use their powers when they manifested and to hide them from Normals (non magical people). Glenda was manifestly a very powerful witch, and as she grew so did her powers. Her parents and her friends even thought that she may be Head Witch one day, after Polkiss. Her childhood, besides magic was actually pretty uneventful for the most part, she got a job at the Arcane Academy magic school teaching younger witches and wizards, a job she genuinely enjoyed, almost as much as she enjoyed flying. However, the surprise came when she met and married a Normal, Edward Dalca. Of course her parents were shocked, some of her peers of course didn't approve because she most likely would be left alone if he ever found out what she was. To her surprise, he actually accepted her for who she was and they had a happy life together. Eventually they had a daughter, Sapphire Dalca who is a witch like her mother, her birth was quite a big deal since half bloods are quite a rare occurrence.

However, she and her husband divorced when their daughter was five. It was an amicable split because they had simply grown apart, and they still remain friends and co-parent, but it was quite a painful separation. It has been a year and she hasn't dated again, instead working on the strengthening of her magic and maybe even be Head Witch one day.
Powers/Abilities: Spellcasting, flight, teleportation, potion brewing, shapeshifting, divination (but she can't predict the future)
Strengths: Offensive magic such as combat spells and showy magic.
Weaknesses: Her shapeshifting abilities are limited for so far, and she has a limit to the distance she can teleport. She's also not very good at subtle magic either.
Goals:
Equipment: Book of Shadows (spellbook, every witching family has a family spellbook), broomstick, among other magical items.

This family, its roots having traced back to World War II when it's ancestors served the Third Reich, had gone into hiding to escape the wrath of fellow magical beings that wished to destroy the family due to their ties to the Reich. Lucia was born to Dietrich and Helga Hauptmann, to powerful magical beings that were both already part of the magical family. When Lucia was five, they sent her to live with her grandfather in Munich to learn the powers of the wind. Lucia learned quick and it was realized that she was the most powerful magical being the family had ever hosted. At ten, Lucia returned to her family's house in Dresden to continue brief magical training. Her training was just finishing up at twelve when disaster struck.

Four other magical beings attacked the Hauptmann household, killing all remaining members of the family besides Lucia. Lucia, having survived by hiding, went off on her own after the death of her entire family, her hate and anger just brewing. While wondering, Lucia came across a German policeman rushing to the scene of the crime. Lucia watched and followed him, waiting for him to turn into a dark street. When he did, Lucia blasted him in the back with a gust of wind and he fell to the ground. Lucia ran over and sat on him, her hands around his neck choking him. After a brief struggle, the policeman twitched one last time and did not rise again. Lucia liberated him of his beretta pistol and continued upon her way. Lucia continued traveling throughout Europe, continuing her killing spree, her powers still growing to their greatest potential. Her latest victim, a magical being, told her about the Witches ball when interrogated. Lucia, deciding this to be a prime opportunity to help herself achieve power, decided to travel to its location and attend it.

She won't. The victim was relatively unknown so not many know her appearance. And it's not like Lucia is super well known. Just by German police and anti- Hauptmann magical beings.

Would've joined earlier, probably, but I was busy with deadlines. Just submitted the last essay around 22 minutes ago, too (cutting it rather close to the deadline, as I seem to end up doing quite a bit lately).
