WGP2 Season 1 - Signup and OOC Thread
IC Thread

Welcome one and all to the inaugural edition of the World Grand Prix 2 Championship, the junior edition of the renowned World Grand Prix Championship, which recently completed its fifteenth edition, with Nimban driver Ryker Lane beating the defending champions Terho Talvela to claim motorsport’s highest accolade in an action-packed final race. WGP2 is the championship for those younger drivers who want to get their first experience of high-level international racing, both at circuits that have hosted WGPC races, and other tracks that will provide their own stories. And who knows, maybe one day one of these drivers may emulate the likes of Ryker Lane and Terho Talvela and win the WGPC.

The World Grand Prix Championship has been going since 2005 and is Nationstates' answer to RL's Formula One, albeit with the drama turned up to eleven and the thousands of rules and regulations tossed casually into an icebucket. The WGPC follows reality's example just up to the point where reality becomes a bit boring. F1 banned things like ground effect, active suspension, smoking in the pit garages and a whole host of other things. This isn't the case with the WGPC. How a team builds a car is entirely up to them, and if it ends up upside down in a hedge on fire then that's their own damned fault. Please note however, that WGP2 cars will be somewhat slower and less complex than the top-level WGPC cars - they will have approximately 85-90% of the power. Also worth noting that as part of the hosting commitments, the Eastfielder Association of Motor Racing will provide all the tires for the cars via tyre supplier Grafonil of Olastor - further detail on this is in the host bid.

The WGP2 season is divided up into two phases: the Negotiation Phase and the Racing Phase. The Negotiation Phase encompasses signups, and is the period where budding drivers and teams show off their talents (OOC: i.e. players RP their drivers and teams, hold trials, strike bargains) to create teams that will drive in the races ahead. This phase will last approximately three weeks, until the first race weekend begins - this phase will also include the first pre-season test. If you want to see how this negotiation is done, look through the first few pages of the WGPC15 IC thread, as well as in some older seasons.

But before we start driver negotiations, you need to sign your driver up. Same goes for the teams, and also the circuits we’re going to use. Look into each of the sections below to see how to go about this:

To begin with, every user can sign up a maximum of TWO drivers. These drivers can either be from one nation, or two different nations. It is recommended that first time NS Sports RP’ers only stick to the one driver to begin with, unless they feel confident and committed enough that they can handle two. Every driver starts off as a free agent, meaning they are not affiliated to any team. Drivers sign up to teams via roleplay in the RP thread, which will be created soon, though it is customary to ask around the users who control racing teams (more on them later) to let them know you're available. Please note that drivers can only sign for one team in a season (mainly for scorination purposes).

The more RPing you do with your driver, the higher your RP bonus. The higher your RP bonus, the faster your driver is likely to be on the circuit, and the more likely a team is to sign them.

To sign-up a driver, fill in the following form:

Driver Name:
Nationality (Trigram):
Gender:
Preferred Number:
Short Biography:

Aggression (Between 2 and 5):
Technique (Between 2 and 5):
Reliability (Between 2 and 5):
[Total must equal 12]

NAME is the full name of the driver. The driver may be male or female or any kind of sentient being. Want to sign up a pony? Or some kind of sentient wasp? That's fine, but do appreciate that IC regulations on driver safety, car weight, helmet measurements and general aerodynamic ability would have to be factored in. The WGP Committee reserves the right to punish sentient bees for not wearing the correct safety equipment, even if said safety equipment would make it impossible for said bee to reach the steering wheel. Also, use of real life driver names will be frowned upon.

NATIONALITY (TRIGRAM) is the driver's nationality. It should be put in the form of a trigram. A TRIGRAM is the three-letter code that tells us what your nation is called. Audioslavia's, for example, is AUD. In a change from Formula One, the driver's trigram is NOT three letters that represent a short form of the driver's name.

GENDER is your driver's gender. If this is left blank we will assume the driver is a male human. If you've decided to go for a half-ape half-cephalopod, this is where to write that.

PREFERRED NUMBER is your driver's preferred car number. This can be any number between 3 and 99. 1 is reserved for the current driver's champion. 2 is only available to the champion's team-mate should they so choose. In the event that two drivers choose the same number, first preference will be given to any driver trying to retain a number they used previously, followed by whoever signed up first. Drivers who have chosen a number that has already been taken will be given a random one at the start of the season, unless they specify another number beforehand.

SHORT BIOGRAPHY is a short biography of your driver. His/her/its age, experience, hopes and aspirations, driving style, favourite sandwich, things like that.

ABILITY is split into three sections: AGGRESSION, TECHNIQUE and RELIABILITY. Aggressive drivers are better at overtaking, while technical drivers are better at traversing the multiverse's more difficult circuits. Reliable drivers don't find themselves upside-down in a gravel-pit quite so often. Each attribute should be given a numerical number between 2 and 5 and the three ratings must add up to a maximum of twelve. You can increase your driver's A/T/R rating by RPing.
Driver Name: Cesaro Whittaker
Nationality (Trigram): EFL
Gender: Male
Preferred Number: 31
Short Biography: The 17 year old has been lighting up the domestic karting scene, getting a few wins but mainly impressing with his consistency throughout the past couple of season - of the 14 races he took part in, he finished every single one in the top 5. Noted for his safe driving style, he won’t attempt risky passes unless he has to, preferring to use strategy and cunning to win.

Aggression (Between 2 and 5): 3.5
Technique (Between 2 and 5): 3.5
Reliability (Between 2 and 5): 5
[Total must equal 12]

Team sign-ups work a little differently compared to other sports. Team sign-ups are semi-open. Anyone is allowed to register a team, but only a few will be selected. Selection is limited to users who have a significant RP history across NS Sport, although previous WGPC RP’ing experience (as a driver or team) is appreciated - the final selection of teams will be up to me, and me alone. Please also note that there will be no test-driver slots, and to begin with there will only be two drivers per team.

The onus is on teams to RP well, for enjoyments sake as well as to reap the benefits of a decent RP bonus. Running a team in the WGPC is a large responsibility that should not be taken lightly. If you are a newcomer to NS sports you probably shouldn't apply. There will be a limit of one team per user.

Users that RP well will find not only that their drivers go faster, but their teams perform better too. The combination of a well-RP'd driver racing for a well RP'd team will make for a very competitive team, though it’s worth stressing that, due to the random nature of scorinators, RPing well is not a guarantee of success, it merely improves your chances.

Also, just as teams are free to fire drivers if they feel they aren't performing (ie the user isn't RPing enough), drivers are free to quit teams they feel are not giving them the help they need (ie the user isn't RPing enough). Although it rarely happens in Formula One nowadays, there is the possibility to remove teams during the season and enter new ones, if there is little or no activity from the user. All changes are at the discretion of the WGP2 Committee.

To register a team, fill in the following form:

Team Name:
Team Nationality (Trigram):
Team Principal:
Description:
Livery (a picture is preferable, but a basic color scheme of the car is necessary):

Acceleration (Between 2 and 5):
Cornering (Between 2 and 5):
Reliability (Between 2 and 5):
[Total must equal 12]

TEAM NAME is the name of the team. For example: MSA-SinVal, Red Lion Racing, MRT - use of real life team names without justification will be frowned upon.

TEAM NATIONALITY (TRIGRAM) is the team's nationality. It should be put in the form of a trigram. A TRIGRAM is the three-letter code that tells us what your nation is called. Audioslavia's, for example, is AUD. In a change from Formula One, the team's trigram is NOT three letters that represent a short form of the team's name.

TEAM PRINCIPAL is the guy in charge of running the team’s day to day affairs. Basically, the boss.

Description is where you write a little bit about your team; where are they based, what’s their philosophy, where is the corrupt money coming from. You know, that sort of stuff.

Livery is what the car looks like. Doesn’t have to be detailed, but a basic colour scheme on an F1 car template will help greatly with car identification. If you’re stuck with car liveries, ask around and there will be people who will help.

RATING is, like the ability sections for the drivers, divided into three numbers. Acceleration is the team's ability to get the best out of the engine, while a team's Cornering ability denotes their ability to get the best performance out of their tyres, wings and the like. The Reliability rating denotes how reliable they can make the team's car, and just how reliable the pit crew are at changing the tyres on a car without accidentally setting fire to it. Like driver signups, the three values must be between 2 and 5, with the three adding up to 12. Again, you can improve your car by RP’ing.
Team Name: MSA-SinVal
Team Nationality (Trigram): EFL
Team Principal: Tadeo Durand

Description: One of the longer standing teams in the WGPC scene, the combined MSA and SinVal venture didn’t have the best start in WGPC12, as a car plagued by problems (being slow) driven by a driver also plagued with problems (being a drunk) recorded one of the worst seasons ever at that point, barely finishing off the bottom. A year off to regroup saw them return for WGPC14, and it was a year well spent. A new secondary driver, a much faster car, and a new desire saw the team go from strength to strength, challenging for podiums behind a runaway VTM team, and in the end finishing third in the overall standings. However, the following season saw a return to the original season’s woes, as MSA returned to a car that suffered many phantom engine issues, and a star driver with severe psychological issues after his father’s death. They were the last team to score points, only getting onto the board halfway through the season, but then a raft of top ten finishes ensued from the recovering star native driver Louis Krindle in his final driver, pushing the team to a respectable mid-table finish.

Livery (a picture is preferable, but a basic color scheme of the car is necessary): Image

Acceleration (Between 2 and 5): 3.8
Cornering (Between 2 and 5): 3.7
Reliability (Between 2 and 5): 4.5
[Total must equal 12]

Each user may sign up a maximum of TWO grand-prix circuits, and no more than one per nation (meaning one circuit from your main nation and one from a puppet is fine).

Signing up a circuit is not a guarantee that it will be used in the upcoming WGPC season. Currently, the plan is to have 12 races throughout the season. Good spare circuits will be used for pre-season or in-season testing. Race distance will be 200km.

It is customary to provide an image of your circuit (no larger than 900 x 900 pixels, of course). Providing an image is mandatory for your circuit to become one of the 12 that will be used for the upcoming season.

To sign up a circuit, fill in the following form:

Circuit Name:
Grand Prix Name:
Location:
Lap Record (F1/WGPC Car):
Track Lap Length (km):
Map of track (doesn't have to be a design masterclass, but a visual outline is pretty much vital):
Qualifying Type (Traditional or Two-Tiered):
Chance of being a wet race (1%-20%):
Overtaking difficulty (0.5 - 5. 0.5 is easy, 5 is difficult):
Description:

Aggressiveness (1-10):
Technical Ability (1-10):
(Both these numbers should add up to 10)

NAME OF CIRCUIT is the name of the circuit. To use a real-life example, Spa-Francorchamps is the name of the track used for the Belgian grand-prix.

NAME OF GRAND PRIX is what the grand prix will be called. For example, Grand Prix de Quebec or Audioslavian Grand Prix or Gran Premio de San Jose Guayabal.

LOCATION is the name of the place the circuit is in / nearest to. For example, Spa-Francorchamps is situated near the Belgian town of Stavelot. Please also include the COUNTRY is the nation the circuit is in, eg. Spa Francorchamps is in Belgium.

LAP RECORD is the fastest any grand prix driver has driven the track before.

LENGTH OF ONE LAP should be measured in kilometres. Tracks that are too long or too short won't be considered when it comes to selecting places for the racing season.

MAP OF TRACK is pretty self-explanatory. It doesn’t have to be a graphic masterpiece, but at the minimum, an outline of the track, where the start-finish/pit straight and pit lane are, and direction of travel. The picture of the track can include the other information requested.

QUALIFYING TYPE
A single ninety-minute free-for-all in which every driver gets ten laps in which to record the fastest lap-time possible is known as the Traditional qualifying type, and if you would like your grand prix to use this qualifying type, say so in this field.

[/i]Two-tier[/i] is similar to what is currently used in formula one. In the first, fifty-minute session the drivers record up to six flying laps. The ten fastest go on to tier two, the slower ones drop out and will line up in positions 11 to 24 on race-day. In the second session, the ten fastest drivers record up to three flying laps over a twenty-five minute period. The driver with the slowest time of this period will start 10th, the second-slowest 9th and so on.

CHANCE OF WET RACE is pretty self-explanatory. The higher this chance is, the higher the chance of each session being wet is. Fully wet races are slower than fully dry races, with changeable conditions being a mixture of wet and dry periods.

OVERTAKING DIFFICULTY is also self-explanatory. Tracks where overtaking is easy will see lots of change in race order on track. Tracks that are harder to overtake on will see less flux, and change will occur more in pit stop strategies and driver errors. This should also bear some resemblance to the Track Rating section below.

Description is a short description of the track. You can provide the track's history and/or give a description of one lap around the circuit.

TRACK RATING is, like the driver ability rating, comprised of numerical values. The first value is Aggressiveness. Aggressive circuits are wide with plenty of opportunities to overtake. The second value is Technical Difficulty. A track with a high TD rating suits more technically skilled drivers, and the circuit may be more difficult to overtake on. The numbers should add up to ten. (ie 4/6, 3/7, 5/5)

Oh, and remember the two usual rules: NO OVALS, and NO RL CIRCUITS.
Image
Grand Prix Name: Grand Prix of the Imperial Commonwealth
Lap Record (F1/WGPC Car): 1:21.954 - Louis Krindle (Qualifying, WGPC14, MSA-SinVal Racing)
Qualifying Type (Traditional or Two-Tiered): Two-tiered
Chance of being a wet race (1%-20%): 3%
Overtaking difficulty (0.5 - 5. 0.5 is easy, 5 is difficult): 2
Description: Located a few minutes from one of the biggest cities in Eastfield Lodge in both sporting and population terms, Mount Salt Raceway is a relatively new (less than 15 years old) purpose-built circuit, and became the show-piece event for every domestic motorsport calendar. The track is a blend of quite a few high speed corners and long straights - the kilometre long pit straight is one of the longest in Eastfield Lodge - but there also plenty of slow corners to test the cars and the drivers.

Starting just after the halfway point of the start-finish straight, the tight first corner is far enough away for the field to spread slightly, but needs precision to carry speed up the hill to the second corner, where the drivers will find a mirror image of the first corner. A short straight before we reach the Turn 3 hairpin, where the prevailing wind can scatter a fine layer of salt, originating from a salt plain near the mountains, over the corner.

Passing through the chicane (Turns 4 and 5), we come to the hardest section of the circuit; a long climb up the hill on a long left hander, before taking a sharp left at Turn 7. The combination of the hill and the wall close to the inside of the track results in drivers being more or less blind until the last moment before turning, making for some good action for crowd to watch. The wall on the exit of 7 is a recent addition, and yet another crowd favourite.

The track then levels out as the drivers take two right handers at Turns 8 and 9, before taking the long right hander at Turn 10 back down the hill and braking hard for turn 11. Little braking needed for Turn 12, and then it's down another hill, before reaching the Turn 13/14 chicane before the pit entry and the last corner, after which it's a 0.5 km sprint to the finish line.

Usually, the weather in the region is pretty dry and sunny, often with a stiff breeze as noted above - that WGPC13's race weekend took place nearly entirely in the wet was a bit of an anomaly.

Note: Where there isn't a gravel pit or a wall indicated, you can assume it's a tarmac run-off for the corners and grass/turf for the straights.

Aggressiveness (1-10): 5
Technical Ability (1-10): 5
(Both these numbers should add up to 10)

Driver Name: Juracai Klianiota
Nationality (Trigram): V&T
Gender: Y
Preferred Number: 7
Short Biography: Klianiota has been a development driver with Vilita & Turori Motorsports who got their start in Go-Karting before entering the Saturday Night Late Model Ranks. Klianiota was teammate to Turori's iBen Toralmintii during NSSCRA 4&5 and NSFC 1&2. During NSFC 2 Klianiota had the distinction of setting a new track record during qualifying in 9 of the 10 events on the schedule.

After NSFC 2, Klianiota was named test driver for VIlita & Turori Motorsports and input there was valuable in leading the team to the WGPC 14 Constructors Title. Now, Klianiota is hoping to prove that he has matured enough to graduate from the ranks of test driver and earn a race seat once again.

BIO: Located in the picturesque region of Vilitan right overlooking the waters of Atlantian Oceania, the Vilitan Mountain Challenge Course was carved out of the Rocks on Vilita's Rockii Coast and offers a unique challenge to all drivers. Originally more of a wide-open high intensity speed park, The Grand Prix modification of the Vilitan Mountain Challenge Course was a new addition to the facility in preparation for its inclusion in World Grand Prix Championship 11. While Acceleration and Mechanical Power will be a great equalizer on much of the course, the Grand Prix boot designed by Turorian legend iBen Toralmintii mid-way through the course gives those with the ability to make maneuvers in tight spaces a chance to shine as well.

Team Name: Novikov Racing Team

Team Nationality (Trigram): ABL

Team Principal: Axel Novikov

Description: Novikov Racing Team, founded by Axel Novikov himself, started off as a domestic team in Aboveland which entered Novikov in events ranging from hillclimb to kart races, often with great success. After Novikov's semi-successful foray into the top level of the WGPC, the team management was taken over by Frida Smeets. Near the end of Novikov's maiden WGPC season, he dismissed Smeets from team principal duties and placed himself in charge of his own team once again. Eager to try out the world of motorsport from behind the paddock screens, Novikov decided Novikov Racing Team would submit an entry for WGP2, backed by powerful Abovian sponsors Nortec, flyHej! and Absolutely Random Outfitters, along with a substantial self fund. The team hopes to battle among the top teams of the series throughout the year as it places its own power unit in a foreign chassis.

Driver Name: Rebecca Darlington
Hometown: South Vauxhall, Rosetta, Esmerel
Date of Birth: August 25, 1995 (age 21)
National Trigram (the thing you need): ESM
Driver Trigram (bonus): DAR
Identity: Human female
Preferred Racing Number: 15
Ability (Agg/Tec/Rel): 3/4/5

BIO: Rebecca Darlington is another Esmerelian-raised domestic grand touring star. Her debut in 2012 at the age of 16 made her the youngest person ever to participate in Esmerel's domestic racing league, the ESTL. After several seasons of racing with backmarker teams she managed to be snapped up by the Obey Autosport team, who gave her a great car and the ability to win races. However, she was never close enough to take the title, usually going to another driver or her teammate at the time, Jean Mercer-Daly, a name you may have heard of.

However, in the 2016-2017 season, she was presented with a serious title shot when Jean left Obey mid-season to join the WGPC. And the title she got, scoring five wins and beating second-placed Robert Ost by a mere four points.

Naturally, this title meant she wanted to move up in the world, and she hopes the WGP2's inaugural season will be her stepping stone.

Circuit Name: Bayview Dome Circuit
Grand Prix Name: Bank of Rascasse Bayview Grand Prix
Track Location: 2334 Postal Boulevard, Southway, Rosetta, Esmerel
Lap Record: 1:29.993 (Non-WGPC car, expected lap times as calculated by several mathematicians is 1:22.300)
Track Lap Length: 4.289 km (2.665 mi)
Qualifying Type: Two-Tiered
Precipitation Chance: 0% (the circuit is entirely indoors so even if it rains it will have no effect on the race... is that allowed?)
Average Overtaking Difficulty: 2
Aggression/Technical Ability: 6/4
Track Map:

BIO: The Dome was built in 2015 to facilitate another ESTL race, to avoid the overabundance of street circuits. The fans and drivers loved it, particularly because it wasn't designed by Hermann Tilke, its resemblance to Malaysia's Sepang International Circuit(except for the heat and the rain), the endless turn 6, and the fact that the track is- get this- a completely indoor racing circuit. No rain on their parade, and so all 300,000 spectators of the first and second events (once per year) rose to a standing ovation when the lights went out.

With the announcement of the new WGP2 feeder series, the track was quickly submitted through testing and regulations to obtain a WGPC grade 1 license, as it was the only non-street track in Esmerel that could host a shorter event, bar the West Circuit of Raleigh Hill, but the guys over there didn't feel like it.

The long and winding turn 6 is the track's highlight, encompassing over 1.5 kilometers towards the track's length. At slower speeds, the turn can be taken flat-out, but at higher speeds light lifting is occasionally needed and proper timing to brake for turn 7 is crucial.

Team Name: Obey Sport GP
Team Headquarters: Point Capaldi, Corda Dracon, Esmerel
Trigram: ESM
Team Principal: Marc Loewe
Power Unit: Obey B54
Chassis: OS2-01
Vehicle Stats (Acc/Cor/Rel): 3.5/3.5/5
Description:

The Obey team is a simple sporting group that has achieved great success in the ESTL, or Esmerelian Street Touring League. Having won three national teams' championships with the dynamic racing duo of Jean Mercer-Daly and Rebecca Darlington, their bank balance is very far into the green and its principal Marc Loewe wanted to be brave and enter into international sporting competition.

The deal worked out and Loewe put together a team to build a car for the newly announced WGP2 feeder league. The OS2-01 is the company's first ever single-seater machine, but it has the strength of any other vehicle. It is expected to be a competitive car, and Marc Loewe himself has stated he expects at least a podium and a top 6 in the constructors'.

Driver Name: Lera Kozel
Nationality (Trigram): RSM
Gender: Female
Preferred Number: 74
Short Biography: One of the youngest professional kart racers to compete in the Sha Mobutian national circuit, Lera Kozel began racing when she was only fourteen years old in a regional Juniors League, where she proved herself a competent driver at that level. Since then she has continued to train and push herself to improve. While she isn't known as the most fanciful or graceful driver on the track, she has come to prove herself in straight-ways and has proven reliable in keeping herself on the road and running. She was skilled enough to be the third driver in the team that took the Sha Mobutian national circuit, coming in fifth, and has put in her bid to drive on the international stage.

Description:
The Grand Prix circuit at Watersedge has been undergoing renovations following the cancellation of its WGPC race this season, with an extension to the track built at turn 15 of the regular circuit. The alternate layout runs anti-clockwise rather than clockwise, and reuses a technical section of the regular circuit from turns eight through 15, which become turns three through 10 on the new layout. A hairpin is added at the new turn 14, and a new start-finish straight and associated pitlane have been constructed. The alternate circuit is 0.4 km shorter than the WGPC one, but has a lap time only two seconds quicker due to its added technical difficulty.

Driver Name: Denholm Kingsley
Nationality (Trigram): Kingdom of Anthor (ATH)
Gender: Male
Preferred Number: 53
Short Biography:

Denholm Kingsley was born in Portsbury, Anthor on June 17 483AE, to his father who ran an auto-garage for the town and his mother, who worked in a bakery. From the age of 8, Denholm was heavily involved in his father's business, and is said to have always a hand in his father's business. He first entered the Anthoran racing scene at the age of 16, competing for the Oxhill team in the junior regional circuit at Tharsius, and performed above his skill bracket at the time. Since then, he's been climbing up the ranks and gaining much recognition nationally; despite his national recognition, he had a hard time gaining traction in the top tier of motorsporting as organized by the RAR (Royal Auto Racing, the MoS-sanctioned body for governing motorsports in the Kingdom). His childhood mentor, and a friend, managed to get him signed on with Minerva PRT, the newest team at the top tier, but they promptly forced him to cut off contact with friends, and family, and obligated him into the WGPC to try and "improve his skillset". His national team tried to get him to play more aggressive, and it failed utterly, with having some pretty bad results in the WGPC 15, and was even abducted by unknown parties at the end. When he returned home he resigned from the team and is now seeking to try and repair his image both abroad and home by higher marks at the WGP2.

Circuit Name: Skaganes Auto Circuit
Grand Prix Name: Grand Prix of Spaam
Location: Skaganes, Spaam
Lap Record (F1/WGPC Car): 1:33.456
Track Lap Length (km): 5.12 km
Qualifying Type (Traditional or Two-Tiered): Traditional
Chance of being a wet race (1%-20%): 15%
Overtaking difficulty (0.5 - 5. 0.5 is easy, 5 is difficult): 2

Description: Skaganes Auto Circuit is regarded as the best racing track in Spaam. Set near the city of Skaganes, the second largest city and situated in the south of the nation, it is known for having a number of technical components that will test drivers.
Skaganes Auto Circuit has two configurations - a short seven corner circuit for smaller races, and the longer circuit with thirteen corners.

Going down the straight, turn one is a sharp right-hand turn that will test drivers' braking abilities and nerve, followed by 90 degree left-hander that may give drivers going around the outside on the previous turn a chance to overtake. After a short straight, drivers will come up against turn three, a complete right-handed 180 in two parts, that gives an advantage to whoever is on the inside line.
After this, there is the second-longest straight, which curves to the left, that leads into turn four, a sharp-ish left hander, and turn five, which is much easier left-handed turn. Drivers on the outside on the last two turns may get an advantage here as they head into the most unique part of the track, turn six. This is an oversized, sweeping right-hand turn that goes almost 360 degrees around, which is the both the most technical component of the circuit, and the most exciting for overtaking, which can happen at any point during the turn. This ends with turn seven, a traditional left-hand turn that leads into a short straight that finishes with a chicane, counted as turn eight, which then leads into the left-handed turn nine, which is quite hard to overtake at. After another short straight, turn ten and eleven are two consecutive large 90 degree right-hand turns followed by a smaller 90 degree left-hand turn twelve, all of which offer the best chances to overtake in the second half of the track. Turn twelve, which doubles as the entry to the pits, is immediately followed by the very sharp right-hand turn thirteen which leads back onto the main straight.

Driver Name: Renzo Virzi
Nationality (Trigram): AUD
Gender: Male
Preferred Number: 61
Short Biography: Padia, the region on the eastern side of Audioslavia, is one of motor racing's hotbeds on the island, along with Hyland, Central and Herradura. The Creolisci - a nickname for Padians who speak the bizarre English/Russian/Italian creole language - are more widely known for their manufacturing and design prowess, however, rather than their actual driving ability.

23 year-old Renzo Virzi has stood out from the crowd since making his debut in the ATCC (Audioslavian Touring Car Championship) and moving swiftly onto Formula Rey, in which he finished third last season in a fairly modest car. When the league decided to sponsor a driver to enter the WGPC system, they overlooked national champion Victor Hall (a bit-part player in WGPC12) and Hygolje Motor Racing co-driver Marten Ryan in favour of the exciting and courageous Padian. Not only does Virzi have ten years on his opponents at HMR, but it's felt that the young driver has a much higher ceiling than his compatriots.

Virzi is capable of some very fast flying laps, on his day, but has thus far struggled to adapt to different styles. WGP2 may be a steep learning curve for the driver.

Team Name: Katara Racing
Team Nationality (Trigram): WET
Team Principal: Mara Katara
Description: Katara Racing is a new team founded in cooperation with WETmotors and WETtech to compete in WGP2. Nick Newman's company 'Newman Beverage Sales Inc.' is sponsoring the team, but unlike WETmotors, Newman does not own the team. Founder and Team Principal Mara Katara has proven herself bringing Urlash Racing to top in Formula WET3. She then was promoted Urlash Racing's Formula WET1 team's principal. After a dissappointing first season there, Urlash Racing could win three times last season. With support from many people and important companies, she decided to found an own team in WGP2. The team is working together with Omni Racing, actually a team from the WETEC (West-East Timorian Endurance Championship), as well.

Short Biography:
Timo Jänkirinää was born in Osin in 1997. He started karting at the age of 7, becoming second in his class of the West-East Timorian Karting Championship two consecutive years at the age of 13/14, and winning it at 15. The next year, he started in Formula WET4, becoming 6th in his first year, and winning one race. The following year, at the age of 17, he got a seat at the Kalrir Racing Team in Formula WET3, and finished the season in second place. But nevertheless, he is considered a brilliant driver, taking many risks, what was the reason why he couldn't win the Championship, and so, he signed at Urlash Racing in Formula WET1. In his first season, he becane 15th in the Championship with five points, what is a lot considering Urlash Racing was (even though they are succesfull in Formula WET3), not the strongest team, and his teammate Alkinio Thinguang couldn't score any points at all. Therefor, in his second season, he got a seat at Neumayer Racing, finishing 3rd in the Championship and winning several races. He then wanted to become a WGPC driver, but abandoned these plans, and instead decided to accept the offer to race for WET Cheese Racing in Formula WET1, and won the championship in that dominating car. As a preparation for a possible step to WGPC, he decided to try to get a seat in WGP2, possibly at Katara Racing, if they will be accepted.

When he was 15 years old, Markner won the West-East Timorian Karting Championship, and got a seat at De Laentan Racing in Formula WET4, finishing second in the championship and winning five races. He then signed at Urlash Racing in Formula WET3, and finished second in this championship as well, losing to his teammate Joshua Maynian. He drove another for Urlash Racing in Formula WET3, and finally won it. The next year he got to drive for Neumayer Racing in Formula WET1, finishing the championship in sixth, but winning several races. He is best known for delivering a fantastic battle for the win against Timo Jänkirinää in Isnalkorvburg, beating the WET Cheese driver by 0.011 seconds. His plans are to drive in WGP2 now, but it is still unknkwn if he will get to drive for a team there.

Description: The Ossani family and Ella Estrella took over Red Lion Racing, but they don't plan on stopping there. They also bought out a local lower division team in the city of Portus and transformed them into Academy Racing, a developmental team with a finiancial and technological edge because of their support. Someone with experience in winning, Grayson Chase, has been put at the helm, and some of the best Isla Motorworks engineers have been brought in to design some of the parts... The girl was always a racer, ever since she could walk, but at twenty years old, the girl from East Portus is now one of the biggest rising stars in the sport. He was raised by a nearly incapable mother, and never spent much time around his father. No, he learned racing on his own, and the Red Hill Driver Academy prospect has been the main foil to Luna Estrella in prototype racing, finishing second place when she won the series. But while this is Luna's first time in a single seater, it's not Armo's first rodeo. There's big things in store for this kid, and in the experience category, he has the definite edge... Location: Nimbus Bay, Nexus Wardship of Former Citizens of the Nimbus System

Lap Record (F1/WGPC Car): Not yet set (Ryker Lane will set one in Coalescence as part of the warm-up to the Grand Prix)

Track Lap Length (km): 4.83

Map of Track:

Image

Qualifying Type: Two-Tiered

Chance of being a wet race: 20%

Overtaking difficulty: 1.2

Description: With the success of Nexus Racing apparent from the very beginning of the WGPC 15 season after Marika Pedanovic won the first race and champion-to-be Ryker Lane achieved fourth in the second along with a clear public interest from high native viewing figures, Jacob Gibbons, Nimban Minister for Sport, saw immediately an opportunity for the Nexus Wardship of Former Citizens of the Nimbus System to carve out a place for itself in worldwide motor racing. With a site identified on the coastline between Nimbus Bay and the peninsula hosting the First City and a circuit pulled together from parts of three of their origin universe’s most famous tracks, the government have been channelling money and Imagination (which proved supremely useful in hollowing out the tunnels) into the project of constructing a race facility appropriate for the world stage.

They’re just about done, too.

The people of the Nimban origin universe have a long and proud tradition of constructing race circuits in areas of astounding natural beauty; Crossbay Circuit continues this tradition, running across, through and below the stark dolomite rock cliffs of Nimbus Bay. Significant efforts have been made to avoid ecological damage in places untouched by the racetrack itself; local cliff-nesting birds, for example, have been relocated away from the circuit, predominantly to cliffs elsewhere in the bay.

Crossbay Circuit is also run through with the latest advances in Nimban technology. Roman-style concrete has been used for its hydraulic properties and decreased environmental footprint to construct the bridges for the over-water sections of the track. In terms of Imagitech, a large Imagikinetic force field, permeable to nitrogen, oxygen and hydrogen but impermeable to all else, overtops the track and divides spectators from the cars, both keeping pollutants sealed in where they are scrubbed from the air by industrial-scale machinery underneath the track and serving as nigh-on unbreakable protection for fans from rogue car parts; more traditional belt-and-tyre barriers line the bottom of the circuit or, where they exist, its runoff areas.

A lap of the track begins in Sector 1 with a short run down the end of the start/finish straight to Turn 1, a long and smooth left-hander that is deceptively tight in the middle of the turn, as well as descending by a few metres over its course. From Turn 1 a tiny straight leads into the gentle Turn 2 before the car enters the first of the two tunnels on the course, descending rapidly into an underground stadium section featuring the moderately tight Turn 3 and the hairpin of Turn 4. This section is downhill all the while, making it quite the challenge for drivers. The track then passes under itself before shooting down and out of the cliffs into the water-crossing Sector 2.

Immediately drivers are forced to deal with the esses of Turns 5, 6 and 7. While 5 does demand something of a decrease in speed, the latter two can be taken with surprising speed; the measure of a good driver here will be how much momentum they can retain into the straight leading up to the nudge that is Turn 8 and the sweeping, ever so slightly banked Turn 9. After Turn 9 the chicane of Turns 10 and 11 provides another momentum-holding test into Turn 12, which technically begins immediately after Turn 11 but really comprises the mid-speed corner at the very end of the sector.

Sector 3 is by far the fastest of the sectors. Drivers dart into the cliff tunnel after 12 to face a long, climbing straight broken only by Turn 13, a left-hander that may as well not exist for all of the change in speed that it necessitates. Immediately after the tunnel is Turn 14, a slightly tighter but still fast right-hand turn, before a straight that leads to Turn 15, probably the sector’s slowest part. From there a short run and the small chicane of 16 and 17 brings drivers back to the far end of the start/finish straight and, through that, the finish line.

Technical Ability: 3.7

Team Name: Nexus Racing

Team Nationality (Trigram): Nimban (NIM)

Team Principal: Timothy Guard

Description: Fresh from Ryker Lane's victory and their second place in their inaugural season of the WGPC, Nexus Racing enter WGP2 jubilant and hungry for further success. They plan to use the competition in two ways: firstly to give Gertrude Thompson and her team the opportunity to test and refine planned design elements of their car for WGPC16 in a competitive environment and secondly to create a programme to attract the most promising upcoming drivers to the team and prepare them for driving for them in the highest level of racing.

The car that Nexus Racing will be fielding is essentially an underpowered, stripped-down prototype of next WGPC season's racer, the UHSGV-2, which has already been jokingly dubbed 'UHSGV-1.5' by some members of the team. Gone are a great many of the technological innovations of the UHSGV-1; in its place is a simpler car that is easier for newer drivers to get to grips with intellectually but demands a greater mastery of the basics. A brief list of features can be viewed below:

Chassis: Imagination-forged carbon fibre composite monocoque

Powertrain:
  • Paragon Warp 6.0.2' Imagikinetic/Imagielectric converter
  • 4 in-wheel electric motors
  • Waste Kinetic Energy Recycler System (WKERS)
Other features:
  • Underbody Pressure Reduction System (UPRS) - Reduces the car's underbody pressure by means of a large cross-flow fan.
  • Photonic Analysis for Automated Starting (PA-AS) - Detects the amount of red light emanating from a circuit's starting lights, automatically beginning the flow of Imagination to the convertor when they go out.
  • Imagikinetic Atmospheric Shield Generator (IASG) - Fixes the air around the car in place in the instant before a crash to protect the car from damage in all but the most destructive collisions.
  • Imagithermal Tyre Heater (ITH) - Heats the car's tyres directly.
  • Comprehensive Driver Information Visor Display System (CDIVDS) - Projects detailed information about the car and its systems and live visuals from cameras around the car onto the driver's visor, controllable using buttons next to each of the driver's fingers on the steering wheel.

Note: More features will be added to the livery for the two drivers who join the team.

We are the Nexus Wardship of Former Citizens of the Nimbus System, not just a collection of people; please shorten to the pre-title or use the full name!

Emmet: You might see a mess -
Lord Business: Exactly: a bunch of weird, dorky stuff that ruined my perfectly good stuff!
Emmet: Okay. What I see are people, inspired by each other and by you - people taking what you made and making something new out of it.

The central Nimban cultural ideal summed up in an exchange from The Lego Movie.

Crossing the river they will bend around to set themselves up for the long, slow turn 8 - another prime opportunity for overtaking. Getting through the 'Esses' will be critical to set up back across the river for the 90 degree turn 12. Sweeping through 13 to set up for the Hairpin Turn 14 and then accelerate back across the line to complete a lap. While the turns are varied a moderately skilled driver will be able to handle them. The biggest challenge for drivers will be maintaining focus as a lack of any truly 'straight' sections means that the driver will always be on the wheel, setting up for the optimum line in every section of the track.

Qualifying Type (Traditional or Two-Tiered): Traditional
Chance of being a wet race (1%-20%): 4%
Overtaking difficulty (0.5 - 5. 0.5 is easy, 5 is difficult): 0.8
Description:
Ferramendiak had had a street circuit on the domestic scene for twenty years before lack of funding halted the fixture for good twenty years ago. The city passed up multiple opportunities to re-open the circuit for WGPC racing, citing a prohibitively high initial startup cost, but the rise in popularity in racing, coupled with generous donations from local businesses, has finally lead to the city acquiesing and hiring a team to set up the necessities. The result is a slightly altered layout. Plaza de la Paz, turn three, no longer runs straight down to Zirkulu but negotiates the tricky turns of Karratura instead.

After the start-finish line the drivers funnel into Zubia Sarreran (Bridge Entrance) and coast over the bridge towards the Mazarredo hairpin, taken slowly, before forcing the car round the PdlP corner and down to Karratua. Karratua, or 'square' in the local dialect, is a rectangular section of the circuit that the cars will have to negotiate carefully before they negotiate the Plaza Txordin hairpin. Once these obstacles have been negotiated, the drivers launch into the first real overtaking opportunity on the circuit, attempting to dive up the inside at Zirkulu (or 'circle'). The end of Zirkulu opens out to the Eiger / Twelve / Apostol right/left/right turns which the drivers should be able to take faster and faster with each corner, before Santuen and then the quick Geltoka Kurba. The second bridge is then traversed before the drivers try to get through Zubia Inteera (Bridge Exit) and Gailurra Antzerki as fast as possible to get the best possible chance of overtaking down the home straight.

The river, running through the middle of the circuit, is perhaps the course's most famous landmark, as is the grand theatre at Geltoka Kurba and the converted roundabout of 'Zirkulu'.

It's a peculiar stroke of luck that races in Ferramendiak have never been wet before, and as such there have been very few big accidents or incident-heavy races in the local domestic scene. Whether that carries through to the WGP2 season remains to be seen.

Eiger, Zirkulu and the two Zubia corners all have run-off areas where it's possible to turn to get back onto the track. Most other parts of the circuit simply have track-side walls, meaning mistakes can prove costly.

And I mine so that my livery is the right way around. Interesting fact: the two alphabets of the Nimban language, Universal (which is essentially identical to English), the Higher Script and Common Script (the Latin alphabet), are both laterally reversible. Actually - never mind, that doesn't make sense. I've fixed the logo on the sidepod instead.

No he's not, he's a Real Life NASCAR Driver. You aren't even just using the name. You've used his exact life story down to the races he won and the races he got injured in.

Again, you aren't going to be penalized for not trying to be creative ... but its kind of the whole point of being here. We are here making things up about fictional characters in fictional nations ... not to claim ownership of a real life person and repeat their wikipedia page in bit part

You've also entered the same driver in the concurrent e-GP competition....

Preferred Number: 19
Short Biography: Dom Falepeau (20 years old) is Togonistanian race car driver. He started racing at the age of 15, when he participated in Togonistan Rallycross Junior League. A year later he was picked up by Kaylan Motors Racing team and signed a contract with them. He was going to participate in Togonistan Track Racing League, considered to be the most prestigious domestic racing league in Togonistan. However, due to his young age and lack of experience, he didn't get a spot in their representative team. Instead, he was given on loan to Domerton Motorsports. For seasons 2012 and 2013, he participated in Togonistan Track Racing League representing Domerton Motorsports. He showed some promising results, ranked at the end of season 12th and 9th respectively. In 2014, he was a reserve driver for Kaylan Motors Racing, until 2015, when he became driver #2 for the team. He ended up 6th in 2015 season and 2nd in 2016 season. At the end of 2016, his contract with Kaylan Motors Racing ended and, encouraged by his old team manager, Falepeau decided to try it out at the international stage.

Gender: male
Preferred Number: 4
Short Biography: Manny Epula is 18 years old racecar driver from Togonistan. He started racing at the age of 16, inspired by his big brother who is one of the most famous racers in Togonistan. He started off as a underground streetracer, and as he gained fame and respect in local underground community, rumors about his skills got into the ears of a local racing team manager who picked him up. Manny was asked to have a test drive with the team's racing car, during which he showed some quite decent lap times. Due to his impressive speed (and partially his allready famous family name because of his older brother), a contract was signed immediately. He participated in Togonistan Track Racing League during 2016 season and ended up 11th. Due to his older brother participating in same league, he earned himself a nickname ''Lil E''.

Description: Hwoarang Racing Circuit, located at the outskirts of the city of Hwoarang, is a race track built in 2002 at the area of old abandoned military airfield. Since it's creation, it mainly served as a public racing track until 2004, when it started hosting Togonistan Rallycross League races. In 2008, Togonistan Track Racing League was founded and Hwoarang Racing Circuit became one of it's most prestigious races.

Due to it's long straight parts (including an old runway), Hwoarang Circuit is considered to be a rather fast racing track. Still, there are few sharp, tricky turns (specifically turn 7 and turn 11).

Description: Circuit Centra is one of NSH's most notable courses for national and international races, including series names such as Alderakt Underground, Triple T Diamond Series, and most recently announced, the Qailpyme F1 Series. Located just about 20 km north of Alderakt, CC is composed of a large, twisted track, sprawling from the concrete vistas of the grand stands, to the man-made gravel hills (Dubbed the "Twin Peaks of Centra"), and even slowing down to the peaceful plains. Racers are initially greeted with turns 1 and 2, followed by a semi-perilous ascent up the first hill, Mt.Cen. Atop Cen, the racers endure railed cliffs and a deadly chicane (Turn 6). Following the descent, competitors are then greeted by a smaller grand stand before ascending the second gravel hill, Mt.Tra. While not nearly as heart pounding as Mt.Cen, racers should still expect a lot of drifting while atop Tra, before finally coming back down to meet with the peaceful Dormenn Meadows. Once turns 18 and 19 have been completed, it's a race back to the finish line.

I just thought I'd mention that currently there's not enough drivers to fill every team currently submitted.

I can see that, yes. Not many users signing up two drivers, unfortunately.
As for updating the OP, I have an exam tomorrow, so I'm kind of busy for that. I'll update afterwards, so around 30 hours from now.

I am torn: I deliberately decided not to field any drivers in this competition because I wanted to focus on exploring the characters of the personnel within Nexus Racing, yet now, if there are too few drivers, I feel duty-bound to do so... I need to think about this.
