USMC weapons companies have a platoon of dismounted .50 Brownings for direct fire support. Dunno what the Army does with its light infantry, I'd imagine it's fairly similar.

It has similar quantities of weapons but the people who control them are very different.

US Army "weapons companies" are more like "machine gun companies". They just have ~10 Mk 19s and ~10 M2HBs a piece. The Javelin missiles are more numerous and predominant. There's enough Javelins to give a CLU to every rifle squad and still have an anti-tank squad in reserve. That's why the battalion HHC has a separate anti-armor squad with 6 CLUs. Also the four 81mm mortars live in the battalion HHC. In addition to the 81mms, the battalion HHC also has four 120mm mortars for reasons.

Back in ye olde 1990s, "weapons company" was a euphemism for "20 TOW carriers" and the rest of the HMMWVs had various pintle mounted machine guns of either .50 or 40mm. There were no machine gun platoons or assault platoons (or even an actual weapons company aside from mentioned tank destroyers). Javelins were still in the rifle platoons.

I'm not sure where the TOW HMMWVs went in the modern Infantry BCT.

Should a light infantry company have motorized weapons?

Like Growler ITV-sized gun trucks or something?

That seems really weird to me TBH but I don't know where else a little gun truck would live in in a world where heavy lift tiltrotors and helicopters can move HMMWVs and HMMWV is otherwise ubiquitous.

The alternative is having light infantry battalions segregated by the means of transportation that can move them. So you'd have tiltrotor infantry battalions with heavy machine guns and such on Iltis while LOSATs are still carried by HMMWV, and then you'd have normal light infantry battalions with HMMWV weapon carriers of all stripes. That seems kind of confusing though?

I don't want to surrender to the Muhreens or Rangers and use Iltis for all gun truck purposes. Mostly because it's tiny and for some reason that seems a bad choice for what is supposed to be a gun truck and carry lots of bullets and ammo. For ex. the Canadian TOW Iltis could carry two reloads in addition to one round, while a TOW HMMWV can carry like 8 reloads.

OTOH I could just designate one as "air assault battalion" and give them Iltis and for "(non-air assault) light infantry battalion" except they have HMMWV squad carrier, Stinger HMMWV or Crossbow, and HMMWV gun trucks? The only common link being that the 105mm gun batteries and LOSAT missile carriers are both HMMWV based while everything else like mortars and heavy weapons are pulled by Iltis trucks. That seems OK I guess. It would let me frontload an assault battalion in nothing but V-22s anyway.

Because HLHs are scarce and HMMWV has a massive footprint. And I'm emotionally attached to large, cuddly, wide Objects.

IDK if Iltis could handle ASP-30 though.
