World Map: Updated | IC Thread

The year is 2938 B.C. - 62 years ago, the next 5,000 years of human history was for ever changed with the arrival of men and women from the far future: The Authors. The Authors were average men and women from the year 2016 swept up by unknown and supernatural forces to be sent back 5,000 years, and granted timelessness ( they would never age ). With knowledge of the distant future, the more apt and adaptable Authors used their ability and their wits to craft for themselves a new life in this time long forgotten. As the decades have progressed, the primitive villages which they once inhabited have now become civilizations in their own right! These civilizations were the product not of the organic and natural flow of time, but by the intervention of the Authors - New civilizations! This is not human history as we know it, this is the new history - formed by immortal, yet very human men. The story has been changed, in 5,000 years time, what will the history books say - who shall be it's Authors?

Hello and Welcome to the third iteration of New Civilizations! If you didn't understand the premise of the OP, unless you are bringing in your character from the previous RP, you shall be playing as you ( yes, actual IRL you ) swept through time and space back to the year 2938 B.C., somewhere in the world. You shall be playing as yourself, or someone very similar to yourself. Your Author cannot know things that you do not know in IRL prior to your being transported back in time. Your Author is immortal, in that they are timeless; however, wounds and physical damage can still kill you ( you will be immune to disease, but not to bacterial infection ). Your Author, mind you, is most likely going to look quite different than most people from this time. The average height of a European man at this time was between 5 "5" and 5 "7". Average height of a European woman was about 5 "2" to 5 "4". The average height of an east Asian man was about 5 "1" to 5"3". The average height of an east Asian woman was about 4 "11" to 5 "2". In addition to this, most people during this time had some form of disease or permanent physical ailments. Despite their smaller stature and physical ailments, pound for pound these primitive people are more than likely going to be stronger and faster than you. In addition to being immortal, your Author is also capable of speaking any and every language in existence instinctually, changing automatically depending on whom it is you are talking to. Now keep in mind, that depending on where you land, you may land somewhere with a history very different from the one you may be familiar with. You could land in say Eastern Germany and find yourself surrounded by soldiers totting cross bows and wearing chainmail - or you could land in southern Russia and find yourself in a silkroadesque trading city. Certain parts of the world are under the control of Author Civilizations from the Previous games. Most of the world is still in the late Neolithic era and unaware of Author Civilizations, and if you intend to create your own civilization I would suggest you land there. NEW GAME FUNCTION: Once the year reaches 2900, the tribes living around Author Civilizations will reach the status of nation-state, and will have adopted some of the technologies and governing styles of the Civ that they border.

In regards to game play, you will have essentially total control over your story arc ( until you meet another Author Civ that is ). You will be permitted to simulate the reactions of those living in or around your community ( with human realism kept in mind ), and you will be free to start what ever ( realistic ) trends you wish in your new found home. In regards to contact between other civ's though, you will only be permitted to simulate the reactions of members from your own Civilization. Until inter-civilization battles become a thing, I shall leave that part to be finished later. Time will pass 6 months every page.

*** A good way to see if your posts are realistic, ask yourself, " If I were one of these primitives and I saw such and such happen, what would my honest reaction be? " ***

Rules:
1. General NS rules
2. Author parameter's are as stated above - unchanging unless further noticed
3. Time skips can be postponed for reasons such as dialogue or important meetings.
4. Posts must be no less than 4 paragraphs in length - dialogue being the exception.
5. Realism people! They were ignorant, not stupid! They are not just going to make you a king or declare you a god simply because you crafted a wheelbarrow.
6. Questions regarding the role play should be directed towards myself or one of the appointed Co-ops, whom shall be appointed at a later date.
7. Immortality - it can be shared once by each Author to one other person, but only one, and it cannot be revoked or altered.

Full name: Bruno B. Davids
Age: 21
Appearance:
The one on the left (or the right, I keep forgetting)
Image

Height and weight: 1.79 m, 78 Kg
Religion: Agnostic atheist
Field of Expertise: Law, international law
Skills and strengths: Bruno is knowledgeable about history, but not even close to an academic level. He has tried to keep his knowledge about various subjects up to par, like physics and economy, but those skills are not even near basic academic levels. His best skills are of a legal nature, which he studied in university, and story-telling and explanation. Those last two go hand in hand, he has a knack for explaining things to people. The other skills and strengths are all minor when compared to those two.
Weaknesses: He is very prone to getting home sick. He misses his home, his family, and fears he may never see them again. He has contemplated whether he is getting to them the long way around, but he also knows about the problems of time travel. Perhaps, he has already changed history enough so that his family will never be born. Will he himself ever be born? Will he just take his own place when he reaches the ‘present day?’ He is very prone to getting emotional. Besides, he is an ardent pacifist, and will shun away from violence, even in a world where violence is the only way to survive.

Besides, he is an introvert. Meeting new people can be quite a burden on him, as well as being present in large groups of people. This goes hand in hand with an unhealthy drive to prove himself, which leads him to do unhealthy amounts of work. Contrary to popular belief, perfectionism doesn’t turn you into a hard worker. It turns you into someone who can’t appreciate his own work, and who will never feel satisfied with what he does. So, there’s that.
Where in the world are you landing?: The Netherlands
Would you like to be Co-op?: Nah

“And, sir, what if a walking, talking tree attacks our platoon?” the German lieutenant asked. Other officers around him looked at each other and nodded, before looking at the suited man in front of the classroom. He rested his behind comfortably on the desk behind him, which normally acted as a working station. However, it was also a comfortable way to sit down. Most of the classroom had been sponsored by Ikea, and the company wizards had put it together in a matter of hours. Boudewijn already enjoyed the ergonomics of his desk seat. He clacked his tongue at the question, then let his eyes roll around the room. The lieutenants stared intently at their teacher.

“Well…” he began, a slight Dutch accent hidden behind his otherwise proper English pronunciation.

“If anything attacks your position, that thing has become a part of the combat. You can attack anything that attacks you. The safety of you and your men is paramount, and one of the prime concerns of the Geneva Conventions”

A slight murmur went up in the room, as Boudewijn raised his hand.

“Right, any more questions?”

Immediately, another seven hands shot skywards. The lesson had been over for half an hour, but these lieutenants kept coming up with all sorts of fantasy scenarios in which the Laws of Armed Conflict might apply. Boudewijn enjoyed it. He actually had to write his report for the UN, a preliminary report on the events of the battle. However, Boudewijn thought that education of the soldiers had a higher priority. What was more, their imagination helped to spur his own, and they came up with all kinds of philosophical questions all the time. Enough to write another dissertation, Boudewijn thought. He pointed at a Russian lieutenant.

“Yes, Ivanov” he said, signalling his turn to speak.

“Thank you, sir” he said gracefully. The men generally acted very kindly towards the lawyer. In the beginning, they had been somewhat hesitant towards the civilian. After a while, they found out that there was more about him than met the eye, and when his stories from Syria began to surface, the men had begun to show more respect. Ivanov was one of the people who respected him from the beginning, and Boudewijn did not forget.

“And what if the talking tree does not prove hostile?”

“In that case, the tree is hors de combat. A non-combatant. You must treat him like a civilian, and keep him as much out of harm’s way as possible. So, watch out what trees you take a leak against”

That joke worked well among the lieutenants. As they laughed it off, Boudewijn moved to the back of his desk. He had felt his phone buzzing, and was anxious to know what it was. Reception was unreliable in the Special Region, and people only used the internet network for very important messages that couldn’t wait. So, Boudewijn was curious, while also wanting to keep up the conversation.

“Any more questions?” he asked, as he looked at his special issue phone. Nine hands shot up, but Boudewijn didn’t notice. He was captivated by what he say on screen. It was a message from one of his aides, with a picture attached. The message just said

Found another one. John Doe 1743

The message was sent by Nicolas Ndwedwe, who was a specialist at data analysis. He had his office at the central communications hub, where he kept an eye on all the reports coming in from all the different civil liaisons, as well as a few more military reports. When there was something interesting or important, Nicolas always knew to find Boudewijn. As he opened the picture, he closed his eyes for a moment. When he opened them, the horrific sight was still there. He typed a quick ‘thank you’ to Nicolas, before tucking his phone into his jacket. With a look of disappointment, he watched his eager class.

“I’m sorry, lads and lasses. Duty calls. We’ll continue this conversation on Thursday, alright? I’ll tell you all about the Additional Protocols, which is especially interesting to the Americans, because the US does not accept some of them. We’ll discuss it more later.”

A sigh of disappointment went up from the class, but they marched out in an orderly fashion anyway. Boudewijn was the last to leave his own office, flicking out the lights behind him. First, he went up to Nicolas’ office, who provided him with a bit more detail, as well as the name of the relevant officer. Then, Boudewijn went up to the mess hall, where he could probably find the man at this time of day. As he entered the site, he was immediately greeted by the smell of porridge and potatoes. The mess hall always smelled of that, no matter what was on the menu. Somehow, the Swedish chefs had gotten their food into the very fabric of the room, or so it seemed. As he entered, and looked around for a bit, he spotted the American captain seated at a lone dining table. Swiftly, he approached the table, approaching the captain from the side.

“Hey, Paul” Boudewijn began. He had met the man before. Civil affairs and UN legal reps go together quite well, whether they want to or not, so the two had spoken before. That his name was ‘Paul’ was one of the few things, among his rank, that Boudewijn knew of him, but he decided on a first name basis. They were going to have to work together a lot in the future.

“Did you see any more casualties like JD 1743? You know, kids? Were they armed?”

Boudewijn knew he was probably not asking the right questions. He himself had seen some mass graves in his time, and your whole week was basically ruined after that. However, they all had a job to do, and Boudewijn had to do his. If he was waiting for the right time, to ask that kind of question, he could be waiting for a hundred years more without getting answers.

GCOCS, just for the record, I think Denmark is like one of the five European countries that actually have an established history, for the record :P You can land there if you want, but you'll be landing in a Iron-Age Viking civilization controlled by Kelmet, which may or may not be conducive to your plans.

Denmark? I was planning on landing in the Netherlands. I believe that is plenty far away.

Whaha, don't worry, I keep mixing up New Mexico and Arizona, and those are both more than 20 times the size of the Netherlands. So, I guess we're even.

For some reason my brain only ever registers Belgium and Luxembourg as physically existing in the Benelux, so whenever anyone says "the Netherlands" my brain goes "Denmark! Land of Holland and windmills and being above Germany!" :P

[Though iv never done a rp like this, the scene will be of a nation building world]
Furgan City, noon, war room
General Tutman made his way towards the meeting room, looking out the pre office buildings sprawling windows, at the troops marching along the newly captured city, keeping the public contained by any means nessicary, even resorting to gunning some down. As he stepped towards the door, two guards quickly shifted to attention, one saluting you as you approached. When Furgan proceeded to salute back, the other guard broke attention to open the door for the general, and he stepped into a congress of 4 others, all staring a cold, but tired look. "Glad you could finally join us Furgan" the one opposite to his said, a short and bulky man known as commander Hizzan, spoke with sarcasm. "Thank you....now getting to buisness, I believe it's time we discuss the push through Graldan-" "the push!?!?, we won't survive this damned push!!! Even if we are better equipped, they have the size and home front advantage" a general from the left shouted, and he was right. Graldan was a large country, and as underdeveloped as it might have been, their population outnumbered them 4 to 1, and they were more acostomed to the harsh winter their homeland brought. But Furgan wasn't willing to give up that easily, with direct orders from the emperor himself to lead the charge. The reasoning for capturing land in Graldan was simple, resources, as they had settled down on one of the richest coal and oil reserves in the providence, so he was ordered to lead the hell is journey directly towards their capital, where they would cut the head off the government, and assert full domination over its people. "We don't have a choice commander, as it's the only way to fuel our conquest, so shut your mouth and listen up, I have a plan" he finished, clearing his throat, "the Graldians have pooled their resources in the next city, hoping that with out weakened force they can kill us off and push into our homeland, but we'll do something they won't expect....we will instead make a push towards the west of the city, into the village communities, and from there we will launch a suprise attack" "as fine as that may sound in theory, getting there would require crossing through the thick of this winter storm, and we might not survive" Furgan sat there, sighing, "but then what? If we don't make the push, we die, but if we head strait into their trap, they kill us off before we reach the city gates....this is the only way, and you all know it" he finished, watching as the generals and commanders turned heads, eyed one another, and one by one settled down, "you are right Furgan, we just need to wait for the next supl,y convoy to meet us here, then we can push on" "and we will....you should all finish your reports and get sleep, because after this it doesn't get any easier" Furgan said, retreating out of the room, proud of himself for convincing them to advance....they would win this war, for themselves, for the emperor, and for the future of their people.

(Note, this isn't my average length post, which is usually only around a paragraph, but it is one of my styles).

Skills and strengths ( Optional ): Has a fairly good intelligence and is educated. He is knowledgeable in medieval and Civil War fighting somewhat as per being a reenactor for both, He is skilled in stealth in deception, and is not bad with geography.
Weaknesses ( Optional ): He is not very charismatic and can get annoyed at people trying to hold him down by obligations or try to go against his wishes He is also very nomadic, not wanting to be a leader despite his knowledge. One of the biggest weaknesses is that he's a night owl. To him, this seems like a boon because he can be active while most aren't and can surprise opponents, however this makes the day his most vulnerable and many can catch him off guard.

Full Name: Viktor Matveyev Nemtsov
Age: 22
Appearance: A tall man of mixed European heritage, Viktor stands a head above most men even in modern times at 6'7, with height now tempered by the muscle mass of a smith and soldier used to hard campaigning. With a nose broken and healed and sandy blonde-brown hair, his deep emerald eyes are flecked with gold. Built like a lifter, not a runner, his shoulders are well developed but sit above a body grown scarred and battered but unbroken by more military engagements than can easily be counted.
Height and Weight: Six-seven, two hundred and eighty pounds.
Religion: Protestant Christianity
Field of Expertise: Metallurgical and Environmental Engineering; History (Antiquity, Medieval); Medieval Ironmongery and Woodworking
Skills and Strengths: Accomplished Archer, Duelist, Orator, Strategist, and Tactician
Weaknesses: Gradually increasing megalomania, religious inflexibility/fanaticism
Where in the world are you landing?: The Erzegebirge
