Advisors and family members had too much influence on him, that's for sure, and they were the ones behind the disasters like l'intervention au Mexique and the Crimean War.
His forte wasn't on the military field but rather the administrative and political one. I heavily advise you to read about his life and work, it's truly interesting.

If his take on the civil war and Frederick Douglas is anything to go by, Cinco De Mayo should be interesting.

So... we can now safely say that Trump doesn't know anything about the Korean peninsula, the European Union, the nuclear triad, how international trade works, his own country's history...

This is just rich:

https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/sta ... gr%5Etweet

While the Democrats are being somewhat annoying with some of their obstructionism, they are nowhere near the scale of the Republicans who can't even get their own bills passed through Republican obstruction. Nothing the Democrats have done is nearly as bad as the Republican's unwillingness to even put Garland's Supreme Court nomination, nor their perpetual desire to cause a government shut down because why the hell not, or voting against their own damn bills because the Democrats called their obstructionist bluffs during the Obama presidency.

Even if the Democrats are being obstructionist, it's not like they have much power to do anything about it. All the shit that is failing to get through Congress is square on the shoulders of the Republicans, who have no idea how to actually govern now that they have fucking power.

If they don't vote, they aren't really sane.

Besides, I think you are overestimating the single issue voters.

You're also forgetting about the conservative and moderate republicans who are pissed enough to possibly vote democrat in 2018

I have heard that argument in the past and did not see much of a change. But 2018 is the key to the future and will tell us if donnie has a second term.

I predict Republicans for all their bluster will largely follow orders.

The party is too much of a frankenstein now to make a logical guess.

They'd still be able to pretend that they could successfully replace the ACA with something even better had the Democrats won.
