Welcome to the oldest regional competition in NSSport, this time held in the now-free state of Chromatika. With Krytenia lifting the previous trophy, who will challenge them? Will hosts and upstarts Chromatika cement their place as one of the regional elite after a disappointing World Cup? Will powerhouses Audioslavia, Valanoara, and Vilita prevail? Is it Farfadillis or Cosumar's time to shine? Will Qasden's Cup of Harmony win carry momentum? Only time will tell! Best of luck as you try to be the last one victorious, lifting the trophy after the final at The Capitalizt Dome in Chromatik City!

Chromatika

Recent History: The Rainbow Revolution has successfully overthrown the Chromatik Party, and peace is now over the land. There is severe rebuilding taking place to educate the Red, Orange, and Yellow population, or those who had purposefully been kept illiterate in the old regime. All citizens are also free to pursue whatever career they choose for the first time. Alina Krasnikova was recently elected as the first Premier, although there were those who wanted to see Keira Andisori in power. The nation is also opening its borders to foreigners once more and trying to improve foreign relations in a way that the old regime did not. It is an important time for Chromatika, a time that will set the tone for how the nation interacts with others in the future. This AOCAF comes at a crucial time, a first impression by the new regime to the rest of Atlantian Oceania.

Transportation: Chromatik highways aren't very wide - two lanes per side at most. There is a very expansive railroad system that was originally used for troop movement, but is now being refitted to serve the everyday citizen. Talks are underway of creating a subway system and a bus system in the bigger cities, but will be a few years down the road. The National Airport is also not very big, only serving regional flights. For the tournament, the nation will be accepting team planes to land, but it'd be best if you flew to Ramusok or Cathair first. Ferries run from the Islands of Myana and Urrhed to the main island on the hour.

Currency: The currency of Chromatika is the National Mark. It fell all the way to 3:3 NMS per 1 NSD during the Revolution, but now is at a more respectful 2.5:1. Cost of living is rather low in Chromatika, as the government provides most things through taxes. A bottle of water costs 1 NMS, a good meal about 7, and a new car around 24,000. Please come to Chromatika with all your currency changed to NSD. We don't provide exchange services from other currencies.

Climate: Chromatika is a rather cold nation, with the average temperature being 65 F in the summer and down to 11 F in the winter. The northern parts tend to be colder, while Myana and Urrhed tend to be a bit warmer. There is a temperate jungle in Eyrods where the temperature can spike up a bit more. It doesn't rain much, but snows a fair bit; winds don't gust that much, either. Climate-wise, it's a rather cold, boring, land.

Chromatik Venues by District/Islands

Image Image

Capital District
Groups Hosted: Capital Group

Alnio
Alnio is the technological capital of Chromatika, although it's right next to Chromatik City. Located just thirty-one miles East of Chromatik City, almost dead center of the Capital District, it is in Alnio that Black Raven Technologies is located. Alnio has lots of blue collar workers and used to be completely populated by Greens on the Chromatik Scale. Now, the city is busy with a lot of Red, Orange, and Yellow people being educated, along with some of the Blue, Indigo, and Violets who wanted to be scientists there to learn as well.

Venue: RCK Field (Cap. 100,400)
RCK Field is a stereotypical football field in a nice stadium. The stadium surrounding the field has shopping malls built in it, and there is a huge food court as well. The Union make the field their home, and it was here that Alora Heher, Cosumarite, plied her trade before the exile of all foreign players.
Schedule:
MD1: July 3 - Semarland vs. Starblaydia 3:25 PM
MD2: July 8 - The Redvale vs. Semarland 1:10 PM
MD3: July 13 - Audioslavia vs. Qasden 6:40 PM
MD4: July 17 - Chromatika vs. Starblaydia 6:40 PM
MD5: July 22 - The Redvale vs. Chromatika 2:30 PM
Quarterfinals: August 1 - Capital 1st vs. Island 2nd/Western 3rd 4:35 PM

Chromatik City
Chromatik City is the Capital of Chromatika and the seat of its government. The City is located ten miles east of the border with the Heartland and Deprí Districts, and some of the suburbs of the city spill into the other two districts. It is in Chromatik City that the Rainbow Revolution now holds its power, and where Alina Krasnikova rules as the Premier. It is also the site where most of the atrocities of the previous regime were committed, so it is a very historical and very conflicting site for most Chromatiks. If the country is to move forward, though, this is where the most change will have to stem from.

Venue: Anomaly Tower, Chromatik City (Cap. 110,320)
Anomaly Tower is a really weird stadium, because it's on the tenth floor of a huge complex that is used as a famous restaurant. Yes, the restaurants close during matches so that the noise doesn't get too unbearable. But you can get a good meal at a five star restaurant and then go up to watch a match! Anomalies Football Club calls this place home.
Schedule:
MD2: July 8 - Chromatika vs. Audioslavia 4:35 PM
MD3: July 13 - Starblaydia vs. The Redvale 12PM
MD4: July 17 - Audioslavia vs. Semarland 3:25 PM
MD5: July 22 - Semarland vs. Qasden 2:30 PM
Semifinal: August 6 - Island 1st/Capital 2nd/Eastern 3rd vs. Eastern 1st/Western 2nd/Island 3rd 3:35 PM

Venue: Capitalizt Dome, Chromatik City (Cap. 144,000)
The crowning jewel of Chromatika, and the national stadium where international matches are usually held. It's your typical big-team stadium, as both the Chromatik Capitalizt and Crossroads Crusaders play here. It is one of the few stadiums that are only used for football matches. The national collegiate finals and high school finals are held here, too.
Schedule
July 1 - Opening Ceremonies 6 PM
MD1: July 1 - Chromatika vs. Qasden 7:05 PM
Final: August 10 - Semifinal Winner vs. Semifinal Winner 7:25 PM

Wirr Tsi
Wirr Tsi, a city that is more towards the Mountain District, is where the Chromatik National Army is located, with over sixty percent of the population being military. Besides being an army town, it's also where a lot of the armaments are manufactured. It's not a very exciting town, but an important one.

Venue: The Shock, Wirr Tsi (Cap. 51.350)
The Shock, home to the Wirr Tsi Shock, was built to house the Army's football team. It's not a very flashy stadium, but it was built rather recently, so it's state-of-the-art.
Schedule:
MD2: July 7 - Qasden vs. Starblaydia 6:40 PM
MD3: July 12 - Semarland vs. Chromatika 1:10 PM
MD4: July 18 - Qasden vs. The Redvale 4:35 PM
MD5: July 22 - Starblaydia vs. Audioslavia 2:30 PM
Play-In: July 27 - Capital 2nd vs. Eastern 3rd 12 PM

Coastal District
Groups Hosted: Eastern Group

Pria
Pria is at the northeastern coast of Chromatika, and is where the ferry to the Island of Dorri is located. Dorri is a wildlife preserve that doesn't have any cities, just an observatory for scientists. Besides being a research town, Pria also does some fishing and watersports. It is the surfing capital of Chromatika, as waves can get pretty high with a favorable wind, leading to ideal surfing conditions.

Venue: The Pack, Pria (Cap. 67,290)
The home venue for the Pria Pride, The Pack is one of the oldest stadiums in Chromatika. Its architecture has a nostalgic feel of a bygone age. There have been numerous attempts for Prians to open a new stadium, but the fans have shot it down time and time again, claiming that their stadium does just fine. It is rather distinct from the rest, a glimpse into Chromatika's past.
Schedule:
MD1: July 3 - Tallaga la Falla vs. Blouman Empire 12 PM
MD2: July 7 - 95X vs. Farfadillis 3:25 PM
MD3: July 12 - Farfadillis vs. Blouman Empire 1:10 PM
MD4: July 18 - Eshan vs. Tomikosan 1:10 PM
MD5: July 23 - Farfadillis vs. Tallaga la Falla 2:30 PM
Play-In: July 28 - Eastern 2nd vs. Capital 3rd 4:35 PM

Deprí District
Groups Hosted: Western Group

Deprí Lanar
Located at the Western side of the Deprí district, Lanar was founded first, and is the older brother. Deprí Lanar is known for producing most of the nation's vehicles. Imhar Automotive is located there, being the only automotive maker of Chromatika. Being by the coast means a lot of foreign cars come through here as well. They're rabid about their Hawks, and used to underachieving as a team, but passionate nonetheless.

Venue: Hawks' Nest, Depri Lanar (Cap. 112,000)
The home of the Red Hawks, the Hawks' Nest was made to resemble a bird's nest with the field being where the eggs would lie in a bird's nest. The sloping roof does bounce back sound onto the field making it one of the loudest venues in Chromatika.
Schedule
MD1: July 2 - Osarius vs. Eshan 7:25 PM
MD2: July 7 - Osarius vs. Oontaz Dert Li Ng 6:40 PM
MD3: July 13 - Kyrgustan vs. Osarius 3:25 PM
MD4: July 18 - Oontaz Dert Li Ng vs. Kyrgustan 1:10 PM
MD5: July 23 - Krytenia vs. Oontaz Dert Li Ng 6:30 PM
Semifinal: August 6 - Capital 1st/Island 2nd/Western 3rd vs. Western 1st/Eastern 2nd/Capital 3rd 7:25 PM

Deprí Sanar
The younger brother, Deprí Sanar is known for two things. First, it's where Z'ai'ai's lumber ends up to be turned into furniture. Second, it's where the headquarters of the Death Templars Law Firm is located. DTLF is the sponsor of the Chromatik League and one of the biggest companies in Chromatika, helping now only settle law cases but also fund a lot of philanthropic efforts to aid the poor.

Venue: The Hive, Depri Sanar (Cap. 122,000)
Don't go to The Hive unless you don't mind being a bit squished. It's the densest stadium, and was specifically designed that way to emulate a hive and how full it is of bees. The field is the most open part of the entire stadium, but the absence of a roof means you're at the mercy of the elements.
Schedule
MD1: July 2 - Kyrgustan vs. Krytenia 4:35 PM
MD2: July 7 - Eshan vs. Krytenia 12 PM
MD3: July 12 - Oontaz Dert Li Ng vs. Eshan 7:25 PM
MD4: July 17 - Osarius vs. Krytenia 12 PM
MD5: July 23 - Tomikosan vs. Osarius 6:30 PM
Quarterfinals: August 2 - Western 1st vs. Eastern 2nd/Capital 3rd 3:25 PM

Heartland District
Groups Hosted: Western Group

Pùr
Pùr is the biggest city in the Heartlands, and the capital of the district. This is where most of Chromatika's farmland is located. It is from this district that the nation generates most of its domestic grains and livestock. Without Pùr, Chromatika would either starve or go even further into foreign debt.

Venue: Riders' Arena, Pùr (Cap. 35,210)
A small arena for a tight-knit bunch of fans. The Riders went from almost relegated to safe, and then the season after, Carrie Mason led the to a Cinderella title. It's not a flashy stadium, but one that gets its job done, and a place that all Pùrites know about.
Schedule
MD1: July 3 - Oontaz Dert Li Ng vs. Tomikosan 3:25 PM
MD2: July 8 - Tomikosan vs. Kyrgustan 1:10 PM
MD3: July 12 - Krytenia vs. Tomikosan 4:35 PM
MD4: July 17 - Taranga vs. Farfadillis 3:25 PM
MD5: July 23 - Kyrgustan vs. Eshan - Riders' Arena, Pùr 6:30 PM
Play-In: July 27 - Western 2nd vs. Island 3rd 3:25 PM

Mountain District
Groups Hosted: Eastern Group

Felswyr
A town known for its ski resorts, a winter paradise. Felswyr is located about dead center of the Mountain District, right by Mt. Niai. It is known for tourism and for being the winter Capital of Chromatika.

Venue: Frozen Stadium, Felswyr (Cap. 32,100)
This stadium is mostly known for being 6,112 ft above sea level. The air is thin and cold, and wind chill can also be a factor. Thankfully, the tournament is being held in the summer, so temperatures should be a bit more mild. The Frost call this place their home venue, and each match is sold out due to the limited number of seats and the brand of football they play.

Schedule
MD1: July 2 - Taranga vs. 95X 1:10 PM
MD2: July 8 - Blouman Empire vs. Valanora 1:10 PM
MD3: July 13 - Tallaga la Falla vs. 95X 12 PM
MD4: July 18 - Tallaga la Falla vs. Valanora 7:25 PM
MD5: July 23 - Valanora vs. 95X 2:30 PM

Z'ai'ai
Located at the Southeast corner of Chromatika, Z'ai'ai is seated by Mt. Kùrn, the highest point in Chromatika, with elevation of 17,254 ft. It is a rare place where you can experience the mountain and the ocean at the same time within an hour's drive. Pronounced 'Zee-aye-aye", it's also the cuisine capital of Chromatika due to the variety of ingredients that are available from both the mountains and the ocean. A lot of mining is done at Mt. Kùrn, and logging is also done on a sustainable level and sent to Deprí Sanar to be turned into furniture.

Venue: Z'ai'ai Field (Cap. 113,000)
The home of the Mountaineers, and an iconic stadium that boasts the view of the ocean and of the mountain on a clear day. The pride of Z'ai'ai, and a beautiful sight.
Schedule
MD1: July 2 - Valanora vs. Farfadillis 7:25 PM
MD2: July 7 - Taranga vs. Tallaga la Falla 12 PM
MD3: July 13 - Valanora vs. Taranga 3:25 PM
MD4: July 18 - 95X vs. Blouman Empire 4:35 PM
MD5: July 23 - Blouman Empire vs. Taranga 2:30 PM

Myana Island
Groups Hosted: Island Group

Eyrods
One of the unexplained phenomenon of Chromatika is the climate of Eyrods, located on Myana Island. The Eastern half of Myana Island is a temperate jungle, teeming with wildlife and milder weather. Nobody is quite sure of why this is, but that is why Eyrods is the zoological capital of Chromatika. Eyrodi are appreciative of wildlife and have learned to coexist with it. The city itself is at the Coast, while the Jungle lies at the southern end.

Venue: The Jungle, Eyrods (Cap. 74,590)
The greenest stadium in Chromatika, and we're not just talking about the color scheme. The stadium is made of recyclable matter - seats made of reused plastic, etc. It's a marvel of engineering and architecture, and it's not unusual to have birds fly over the stadium often. Don't worry - there's a clear roof that usually goes over it to protect you from anything that might fall from them.
Schedule
MD1: July 3 - Western Sunrise Islands vs. Tropicorp 6:40 PM
MD2: July 7 - Tropicorp vs. Ngolia 12 PM
MD3: July 13 - Iskandervale vs. Tropicorp 6:40 PM
MD4: July 18 - Tropicorp vs. Vilita & Turori 1:10 PM
MD5: July 22 - Ngolia vs. Iskandervale 6:30 PM
Play-In: July 28 - Island 2nd vs. Western 3rd 4:35 PM

Myana
Located on the Western side of Myana Island, Myana is the naval headquarters of Chromatika. The naval academy is here as well as most of the country's ships.

Venue: Island Dome, Myana (Cap. 133,000)
The Island Dome is located five miles from downtown Myana, towards the interior of the Island. It is in the shape of a boat to commemorate the naval forces, and there is a cannon that goes off every time the Islanders score a goal at home.
Schedule
MD1: July 2 - Cosumar vs. Ngolia 1:10 PM
MD2: July 8 - Western Sunrise Islands vs. Iskandervale 4:35 PM
MD3: July 12 - Cosumar vs. Western Sunrise Islands 7:25 PM
MD4: July 17 - Iskandervale vs. Cosumar 12 PM
MD5: July 22 - Vilita & Turori vs. Western Sunrise Islands 6:30 PM
3PPO - August 9 - Semifinal Loser vs. Semifinal Loser 6:40 PM

Urrhed Island
Groups Hosted: Island Group

Urrheddiao
Located at the southernmost point of Urrhed, Urrheddiao is the seafood capital of Chromatika. It is here that most of the fishing fleets call home, and over 85% of the nation's fish is caught here. The football culture is great here as well, as United started in the second tier and worked its way up to be one of the greatest teams within the nation before the league was disbanded. The fans are quite loyal here, and the rivalry with fellow Islanders Myana is something to watch.

Venue: United Center, Urrheddiao (Cap. 120,000)
Initially, United owners wanted the stadium to be right by the water. However, safety concerns over the huge tidal waves in the winter forced the stadium to be about fifteen miles off the coast. The stadium can be transformed into a place where a lot of the city can take shelter in in the event of a tsunami or a typhoon, as it sits at the highest point on the island.
Schedule:
MD1: July 3 - Iskandervale vs. Vilita & Turori 12 PM
MD2: July 8 - Vilita & Turori vs. Cosumar 7:25 PM
MD3: July 12 - Ngolia vs. Vilita & Turori 4:35 PM
MD4: July 17 - Western Sunrise Islands vs. Ngolia 6:40 PM
MD5: July 22 - Cosumar vs. Tropicorp 6:30 PM
Quarterfinals: August 1 - Cosumar vs. Tropicorp 1:10 PM

You don't have to follow this calendar, but it's what it will be IC'ly in Chromatika.

ISKANDERVALE
Preferred Formation:
4-3-1-2
Style Modifier: 1
Kit Supplier: Cloaker
Nickname: The Flock

Iskandervale missed the last AOCAF due to a cloud hanging overhead - in the form of a war, specifically, as a short-lived Sameban occupation was met in force by the Nepharim military. The dust has finally settled, and eager for an excuse to celebrate, Iskandervale has rejoined the AOCAF, a tournament in which it has a record of achieving surprising middling success.

The squad itself is a mixture of locally-based semi-professionals and a few Nepharim with blood ties in the lower tiers. The collapse of the COCANEFA has been a major roadblock into the IFA's pathway to professionalism, but they've made real strides in the squad, even if the league system will remain semi-professional for the foreseeable future.

Given a lazy template kit by an apathetic Nephara-based Cloaker. The goalkeepers will wear all-terracotta or all-black.

Tactics
Image
First-choice lineup. The Flock have no technical players and precisely one creative influence in Burgundy. The game plan is to keep tight at the back and swarm forward quickly in numbers, hoping crosses and long balls over the top hit their targets. Those targets are Samarqand, who is tall, and Asrori, who is very fast. And, naturally, given the Nepharim origins of the side, they will be hard and uncompromising tacklers. Pace and power will be the watchwords, hoping to make up in physicality what they lack in skill.

Staff
Manager: Timur Ardent - Age 54
Asst. Manager: Gethin Dorran - Age 62

Ardent, who simultaneously manages the island's most successful side, Lokomotiv Iskandabad, is not a renowned tactician and boasts only the lowest coaching qualification that the WCC offers. This is one more qualification than anyone else they can call upon. What he lacks in qualifications he makes up for in effort. He always knows the right thing to say at the right time, and while his tactics are understandably pretty basic, he can at least get these no-hopers motivated. He should also be commended for an exhaustive search for eligible players in the Nepharim league pyramid.

Goalkeepers
1 - GK - Shukhrat Kozak - Age 31 - Leichhardt (NPH)
12 - GK - Gareth Hooker - Age 30 - Kensey Town (NPH)
20 - GK - Ishtar Curran - Age 22 - Lokomotiv Iskandabad

A massive, hulking giant between the posts, Kozak is unsurprisingly good in the air and a decent enough shot-stopper, but the AOCAF will prove a difficult test. Hooker is a decent backup, and many eyes are on Ishtar Curran, a local promising talent who fought as a partisan in the war and has her eyes on a professional contract abroad.

Defenders
2 - RB - Parvana Evans - Age 26 - Riverkey (NPH)
3 - LB - Triffid Ramsey - Age 31 - Cornellians (SCH)
5 - CB - Parvizdzhon Borrowfield - Age 27 - The Strongest (NPH)
6 - CB - Tamerlane Kapadze (c) - Age 36 - Sporting Solsholm (SEM)
13 - CB - Davron Umaryaev - Age 28 - Qarshakor
16 - RB - Sigrun Tarragon - Age 26 - Ritter Town (NPH)
18 - LB - Sonya Rhine - Age 30 - Peregrine (NPH)
22 - CB - Reza Neumann - Age 24 - Gonen's Bridge (NPH)

Ramsey is the best player in the squad and will be a major outlet going forward with her accurate crossing and quick feet. Kapadze, captain of the side, is an inspirational presence in defence, while Borrowfield's pace on the ground makes up for Kapadze's slower, more anticipation-based approach. Evans (Iskandervale-born) and Tarragon (Nephara-born) have worked their way through the Nepharim lower leagues and proven themselves as capable rightbacks, with Djeparov internationally retired. Umaryaev is a decent backup who could make professional grade, while young Rhine and Neumann are Nepharim born and bred and should make for reasonable cover.

Midfielders
4 - DM - Raven Laithwalker - Age 34 - Gosforth Swans (NPH)
7 - RCM - Ekaterina Mirzayev - Age 31 - Chenoworth Harriers (NPH)
8 - AM - Ruziqul Burgundy - Age 27 - Pantans (SAN)
11 - LCM - Vuesala Frey - Age 25 - Cypher Town (NPH)
15 - AM - Maryam Darvish - Age 23 - Lokomotiv Iskandabad
17 - DM - Leila Rzazade - Age 24 - Dí Maozöxê (FFD)
19 - CM - Konradnan Harnwick - Age 23 - Umbershore Rovers
23 - CM - Elchin Anargul - Age 26 - Vakhqul Ironworks

Laithwalker, a Nepharim backpacker and Extreme Hills academy dropout who decided to stick around, join the league and was one of its best players, might have the best story of any player in the AOCAF. Rzazade is a quick, occasionally violent holding midfielder. Mirzayev and Matthews are reasonably talented box-to-box players who can also get the ball along cleanly, and Vuesala Frey has shown enough to overtake them - Anargul is pressing for a professional contract, having once been taken on but failed a trial with a Nepharim Second Division side. Burgundy's an energetic attacking midfielder, with the raw, ambitious Darvish waiting in the wings.

Forwards
9 - ST - Kurtis Samarqand - Age 28 - Cassandra City (COS)
10 - ST - Autumn Starbuck - Age 30 - Crisisbless Athletic (NPH)
14 - ST - Sevda Rostak - Age 27 - Boltcroft Thorns (NPH)
21 - ST - Sana Asrori - Age 26 - Braskov Bears (TRN)

The strikers are probably the best part of the squad. Tall and elegant Samarqand has done reasonably well in Cosumar, and he'll be partnered by the diminutive but very fast Asrori. Starbuck is a quick striker and a reasonable finisher, plying her trade in the Nepharim middle tiers, and is Iskandervale's top scorer thus far - she's the natural impact substitute. Sevda Rostak's respectable enough, but is unlikely to see game time.

Qasden @ AOCAF53 - Chromatika
Image

The Qasden Association Football Association (QAFA) is pleased to be represented at the 53rd AOCAF competition, marking their 3rd ever appearance in the tournament. In the previous two tournaments in Valanora and 95X, the Vans conjured up a whopping single point, a draw to New Reuss-Gera in their debut. However, the once young lil weakling squad that was the perpetual underdog has grown into a potential powerhouse of the new era of NS Soccer. In the latest World Cup cycle, the Blue-Reds finished 4th in a deadly qualifying group. While not qualifying for 77, the Qads eventually went on to stun analysts everywhere by bagging the Cup of Harmony 69 title over high-tide favorites, Barunia. With Chip Tyson still jailed in Ethane, U21 captain, Valentijn Munson, finally gets to take a dance on the big floor, becoming the first female player ever on the Qad NT. With the transition, could the continent of Azeuria once again see light since the ages of Demot and Geisenfried? Can TQ finally accomplish their goal of winning at least one regional match? The only place to find out is just across the region in the new free state of Chromatika. So, without further adieu, here is the official delegation of Qasden in the 53rd AOCAF tournament!

National Football Team of the Redvale

The Red Demons

Image

INTRODUCTION

The Redvale is an island nation to the north of Atlantian Oceania, which is known for being a very supernatural place that is influenced by a group of gods. The big four gods are the flame god, Ignaa, the fertility goddess, Lae, the chaos god, Abysus, and the goddess of the sea, Osytia. However, there are other minor gods that have followings on the island. Politically, the country is an oligarchy ruled by a Grand Theocrat appointed by the gods, and by the Assembly of the Pantheon, an exclusive group of politicians that decides most national matters. The government is based in the city of Avgaria, while the largest city is Maris, on the northern coast. The island of Janford is also a semi autonomous region within Redvale, and the smaller and narrower isle to the west of the main island is considerably more liberal and could be described as a libertarian's paradise despite having a large wage divide.

The main island runs on a mixed economy where the government doesn't own every business, but exerts control over them to guide the economy in a sort of cross between socialism and mercantilism. A few other notable things are that slavery is legal in Redvale, which has caused the nation to raid other states for slaves, and that the position of Theocrat is passed. Currently, the Redvale is ruled by Jara Fuse, with his heir being Dago Fuse. Ethnically, the island is mostly Redvali and Saxon with a large number of Asians also calling it home, and the Redvali ethnicity itself is closest to the Spanish ethnicity. The most spoken languages are Spanish, English, and Italian.

Note about names: There are different prefixes that you will find before Redvali names that are written in traditional Redvali dialect, or regional dialect. Many of these prefixes, such as del, della, and de, denote the birthplace or residence of the person. However, there is one important prefix to take note of. People with the prefix au before their surnames are slaves, and their surname is usually the surname of their owner, or the name of the organization that owns them. For example, Church slaves will have surnames reflecting ownership by a god, such as au Ignaa. Regular slaves that aren't owned by any organization will have their owner's surname and may have names like au Mariano. Please note that outside of the territories, Redvale is largely a cross between an ancient and a modern country, hence the activity of the gods, and so slavery is generally accepted as a part of life. It is, however, very controversial in the territories, which are more modern. Most athletes that are slaves will have decent lives despite their status, keeping much of their earnings and living in luxury because of their profession.

HISTORY, BY ERA

Xavier Bardem era(507-???)
In previous years, Redvale's gods chose to keep the country isolationist with the exception of allowing their people to raid other nations and occasionally engage in warfare. However, the gods causing the island to drift brought it into a region populated with more nations than ever before, bringing them onto the world political scene. One of the new things that came from that was the establishment of the Redvali national sports teams, and while international sanctions have kept Redvale out of the World Cup, the Football Federation of Redvale(FFR) voted to enter the biggest regional competition in the area with a new national team. That team would need a head coach, and while Yanick Martins was the favorite for the job, he left the country to manage Anglatia.

The second manager on the shortlist was selected, and forty eight year old Xavier Bardem found himself with the job. He was last seen as an assistant at Beito Noriega's Air Force FC despite not winning the head management job with them when Noriega left to take the FC Maris job. Before then, Bardem managed Glenham Athletic, the Maris Black Knights, and Maris Rovers, specializing in keeping teams safe in the top flight and helping lower league teams get promoted. His track record convinced the FFR that he can bring stability to a new team, a task that's easier said than done.

His time with the team didn't begin well, with them losing each AOCAF game in their initial run including a 7-0 loss to Audioslavia, but considering that this is a job that nobody wants and a tough job at that, Bardem was given more time. His conditioning program led to certain players doing well in the Di Bradini Cup, reaching the quarterfinals and defeating defending champions Ceni on the way there, and that also tied into the decision to bring back Bardem for another tournament. But he would soon pick the results up and go from zero to hero in this country.

Xavier modified his tactics in the second Global Cup of Soccer to have more of a free flowing attack rather than a long ball based counter attacking strategy, and they controlled possession more and more over the games and also kept a sound defensive strategy, which saw them grind out tough wins over higher ranked teams. It wasn't always pretty to watch, but Park Sang Chul had his breakout competition when Hiroyo Nunez was injured, and they lifted their first silverware with a victory over Pridnestrovia in the final. Going into the AOCAF, confidence in Bardem is much higher than it was going into the Global Cup.

Manager: Alexio del Nieran (Erathore)

Goalkeepers
#1 - GK - Aurélian Gautier - Parisia
21 years old - 6’7 - 203

Spectacular since making his debut at the age of 16, wonderkid Aurélian Gautier has confirmed himself to be the real deal. Blessed with a huge frame with a wingspan over 7ft, Aurélian seems like he would be more adept in basketball, however he dominates in goal and has started to play well as a sweeper keeper, further exploiting his natural athletic gifts. His sheer excellence as a player and desire to improve have not gone unnoticed and rumors abound of a transfer request.
International Appearances: 39
Assists: 1
Awards: None

#13 - GK - Demarcus Jones - FC Matovallanen (SEM)
26 years old - 6’5 - 194
A very springy, agile keeper despite his big frame, Demarcus Jones hasn’t really had the chance to show what he’s all about in international play thanks to the brick wall that is Pietro Tomaselli. Jones’ main strengths are his jumping ability and his fantastic reflexes that allow him to make absolutely insane instinctive saves. He has a tendency to fade in and out of games as his concentration wanes, but as he’s only 22, plenty of time to develop the mental side of the game. He won two Seria-A titles before a 12m offer from FC Matovallanen was too tempting to turn down, and Jones made the oft traveled track to Semarland.
International Appearances: 35
Assists: 0
Awards: National Team: Baptism of Fire 60 (3rd). Club: Sebio City: 2x Seria-A (2017/18)

Defenders:
#2 - RB (RWB/LB/LWB) - Steven Tadeo (Rosaria United)
24 years old - 6'1 - Weight: 161

An energetic young right back, Steven Tadeo has fantastic pace and dribbling ability for a defender. Seriously though, this kid is fast, just a half step slower than Marshawn Mercury, and that’s saying something. Even though he started his career as a winger, and indeed made his debut on the right wing, Tadeo has very quickly adapted to the defensive game, and is fantastic at containing a threat to the touchline. He does leave a little to be desired in the tackling department, and likes to stay on his feet, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. He’s great at holding onto the ball, and his passing ability is absolutely top level. He’s a phenomenal player who was essential in Rosaria United’s title-winning campaign.
International Appearances: 46
Goals Scored: 0
Assists: 4
Awards: 2x Seria-A champion (2016, 2020)

#3: CB: Darren Tran - Kyoshiku Island (OSR)
24 years old - 6’4 - 191

A very physically imposing defender, Darren Tran is one of the strongest players in the league, and couples that with decent pace and great positioning to form a brilliant defensive stalwart. While lacking much of a passing or dribbling ability, the classic hardman Tran is a lockdown defender who has put in a string of good performances at the DBC and CEED Cup, as well as proving to be more than a capable stand-in for Alexandria United’s league best defense. Completed a move from Alexandria United to Kyoshiku Island in Osarius, and has played impressing enough abroad to start for our national team.
International Appearances: 38
Goals Scored: 0

#5 - CB (LB) - Willian Luc Villaview (Rosaria United)
28 years old - 6’1 - 168

An excellent defender in his prime, Luc Villaview has fantastic pace and agility, and dominates the defensive line. Willian frequently steps into the space behind Samper Markovic to grab loose balls or to quickly close down a forward/midfielder to freeze them, before retreating back down the field to rejoin the defensive line. He's been a rock in the center of defense for the national team and Rosaria United, where he captained the second best defense in the league to their second title.
International Appearances: 103
Goals Scored: 3

Awards: National Team: Baptism of Fire 60 (3rd). Club: Rosaria United: 1x Seria-A champion (2016, 2020)

#6 - LB (LWB) - Hugo Carstensen - Samaj FC (COS)
26 years old - 6’2 - 183

Hugo Carstensen has crisp passing, good heading, good standing tackles, good speed, just an all around good player. At 6’2, he’s tall for an outside back, and with a high level of physical strength, he’s a bit of a bitch to get around. He lacks a bit on the offensive skillset, but he has a good sense of positioning to keep him a passing option as the team moves up the pitch.
International Appearances: 31
Goals Scored: 0
Assists: 2
Awards: None

#12 - CB (CDM) - Eric BAMBIC - Llara llera (SAN)
23 years old - 6’2 - 167
Eric Bambic cuts an elegant figure on the pitch with a trim 6’2 frame and fantastic technical skills that see him delicately poke the ball away from a defender before neatly rolling the ball out away from a challenge before passing the ball to the midfield. He has plenty of pace, albeit a little slow off the block, and has a very rapidly improving sense of positioning. He loves to carry the ball out of the back, and has the passing and dribbling skills required to have success at it. Great performances for Llara Llera see him make his NT debut.
International Appearances: 8
Goals Scored: 0
Assists: 0

#16 - LB (LM) - Luke Albom - Urrheddiao (CHROM)
32 years old - 5’11 - 159
Still a quick, agile, offensively player at 31 years of age, Luke Albom likes to operate at the left midfield spot when the team is in possession and pushes forward and holds there shore up space left open when the team is on attack. He’s comfortable on the ball, but prefers to pass it to one of the more creative players available. Albom is a solid defender, pushing wingers out towards the touchline and herding them out of bounds. It’s most likely his last appearance for the team due to his age.
International Appearances: 90
Goals Scored: 2
Assists: 1
Awards: National Team: Baptism of Fire 60 (3rd)

#18 - RB (RWB/RM/RW) - Francesco Di Nolfo -La Nueva Avenida (FARF)
32 years old - 5’11 - 153
A quick player who is skilled on the ball, Francesco Di Nolfo started his career as a winger before being moved into defence. He loves to charge forward in attack, using his dribbling ability and speed to navigate the right side of the field. The first Echani player to play abroad, Di Nolfo will charge up and down the right flank as Marco van Ciavatinni sits narrow, and will undoubtedly spend plenty of time in the opposition half. He’s become far more defensively sound, and has gained a very solid sense of positioning in recent years, helping him to become a lethal weapon moving up and down the flank. Still a valuable rotation option for the national team with his vast international experience. It’s most likely his last appearance for the team due to his age.

Midfielders:
#4 - RCM (CDM/CB) - Samper M.arkovic - Sebio City
25 years old - 6’1 - 169

Essential to both club and country, the brilliant defensive midfielder Samper Markovic is the rock that holds the entire team structure together. With pace and a top-level sense of defensive positioning Samper naturally drops from the midfield line into a CDM position during the run of play to snuff out opposing attacks before they get going, before carrying it upfield an offering an unpredictable and dynamic creative outlet from the midfield line. He has a brilliant range of passing, and several go-to dribbling moves to drop any pressure.
International Appearances: 109
Goals Scored: 5
Assists: 17
Awards: National Team: Baptism of Fire 60 (3rd). Club: Sebio City: 3x Seria-A Champion (2017/2018/2019)

#8 - CAM (CM) - Jean-Marie Bentacur - Baskita FC (PAS) VICE-CAPTAIN
26 years old - 5’10 - 156

An extremely creative, highly technical playmaking midfielder, Jean-Marie Bentacur has added a defensive component to his game to become a complete midfielder. A quick and electric dribbler, Jean-Marie seeks to drive forward in attack and to make use of his dribbling, silky smooth touch, an eye for the killer pass, and a fantastic long shot. A key component of the national team, Jean-Marie Bentacur keeps the offensive game clicking, while also dropping back next to Xavier in defense to help regain possession. Bentacur has really evolved into a complete midfielder, capable of defending, supporting possession, and leading the charge himself, without a doubt one of the best Echani midfielders in history. A high profile transfer abroad to Baskita FC in Pasarga has drawn the nation’s attention to the team.
International Appearances: 109
Goals Scored: 13
Assists: 52
Awards: National Team: Baptism of Fire 60 (3rd), Cup of Harmony 67 World XI, 1x Seria-A champion (2016)

#23 CM (CAM/CDM) - Artemis Montanari - Hastmead Diamante (OSR)
19 years old - 6’3 - 168lbs
Undeniably the most talented Echani prospect in history not named Marco van Ciavatinni, Artemis Montanari is an incredibly cerebral player with world class vision and a passing ability to match. What makes him such an intriguing youngster is how complete his is in all aspects of midfield play. He’s a great dribbler, blending touches, moves, trickery and flair you'd expect from a winger, but also put in a smart tackle with his extremely athletic 6'3 frame. This versatility allows him to play anywhere in the midfield, and with his impressive pace, he could realistically play anywhere on the field with some level of expertise. At his best as a playmaker controlling the game with his passing and opening up avenues of attack with his dribbling, but could also play a lockdown defensive midfielder or a box-to-box midfielder; he really is Mr. Do it all. Completed a 5m move from Tëlenoir to the 22nd best club in the world, Hastmead Diamante before making his international debut during the 51st AOCAF. He solidified his place in the squad with a series of electric performances during the 77th World Cup and now he’s been rewarded with a starting position.

#11 - CDM (CM) - Xavi Arisilde - Goodfeather FC (NEPH)
26 years old - 6’0 - 166

A complete, consistent, hardworking and versatile midfielder, Xavi Arisilde and is capable of playing both center midfielder and defensive midfielder. Arisilde has good technique, solid vision, and fantastic passing range, and primarily plays as a deep-lying playmaker, but he is also capable of playing as a defensive midfielder due to his strength and powerful build, combined with his rabid tenacity, football intelligence, aggressive tackling style and his mind that has been made to read the game. Occasionally guilty of committing hard challenges, and for his tendency to blow his top and rack up cards for particularly hard fouls. Made a move from Parisia abroad to Goodfeather FC in Nephara and has played well. He finds himself on the bench during the AOCAF to make room for wunderkid Artemis Montanari.
International Appearances: 56
Goals Scored: 2
Assists: 14
Awards: None

#14 - CDM (CM) - Iñaki Martón - Celtic Noviodunum (New Gelderland)
28 years old - 5’10 - 153
A fantastic defensive midfielder and possession recycling asset, Iñaki Williams is the perfect shield for the defensive line. He rarely pushes forward from his spot in front of the defense, and prefers to simply lay the ball off to more creative players then try to produce some magic himself. He possess a vastly underrated long ball ability, able to ping the ball forward and land exactly where wanted it.
International Appearances: 66
Goals Scored: 0
Assists: 1
Awards: National Team: Baptism of Fire 60 (3rd)

#19 - CAM (CM) - Elrond Yorick - Matthew Rangers (USI)
21 years old - 5’9 - 153
The elegant Elrond Yorick displays football in all of it's beauty, with picture perfect passes, elegant spins, and impossibly curving shots. He’s extremely agile, and with tight control of the ball, Yorick easily slices through defensive lines before slipping a pass through. He jumped ship from relegated Club Ithinia to Matthew Rangers, and has taken huge strides toward fulfilling his potential. He has really exploded into his own, and has quickly become an essential cog in the National Team rotation.
International Appearances: 24
Goals Scored: 0

#21 - CAM (ST) - Adnan Cynac - Alexandria United
24 years old - 5’10 - 154
With the departure of Anthony Baudelio from Alexandria United, someone had to step up and provide goals. Enter Adnan Cynac in his fourth year with the club. Cynac has long been known for his aggressive dribbling and playmaking ability, but he really displayed a new eye for goal this past season by scoring 11 goals and assisting a further 12, enough to get him onto the World Cup team. Disappointed by Alexandria United’s perpetual title challenge but never title winner, he’s requested a move abroad.

Wingers & Forwards:
#10 - RW (ST/LW/CAM) - Marco van Ciavatinni (Sebio City) THIRD-CAPTAIN
23 years old - 5’9 - 147lbs

Far and away the best player in Eshan’s history, Marco van Ciavatinni was always tipped as a once in a generation player from a young age and he’s certainly fulfilled that billing. Turning out for the national team since he was 17, Marco van Ciavatinni helped lead Eshan to a 3rd place finish in the Baptism of Fire and has done a 3peat for Sebio City in the Echani Seria-A. MvC is simply sublime with the ball at his feet, and might actually move faster when he’s dribbling. A beautifully simple player, Marco is a master of feints, stop and starts, simple moves to send his opponent one way while he goes the other. A brilliant attacking threat, van Ciavatinni is at once his team’s first goal scoring threat, chief playmaker, and conductor of attacking movements. Scored 12 and assisted 9 during WC76 qualification. Quiet rumblings of a transfer request.
International Appearances: 109
Goals Scored: 60
Assists: 50
Awards: National Team: Baptism of Fire 60 (3rd). Club: Sebio City: 3x Seria-A (2017/2018/2019)

#9: ST: Anthony Baudelio (Alexandria United)
21 years old - 6'2 - 172lbs

Standing at 6’2, 172lbs, Anthony Baudelio is nothing else if an impressive physical specimen with the size and strength to bully defensive lines, but also wielding absolutely blistering pace, and the combination of the two allow him to influence the game based on his physical gifts alone. Add a lethality in front of goal that has never been seen before in Eshan, and you have a true world class talent. As more of an out and out striker, Baudelio isn’t much involved with build up play; his passing does leave a little to be desired, but he makes good use of his fantastic finishing ability and his ice cold demeanor to make finding the back of the net a non-issue. Has scored 103 goals in 140 appearances for Alexandria United, and has started to translate that over to the national team, scoring 11 during World Cup 76 qualification.
International Appearances: 72
Goals Scored: 38
Assists: 5
Awards: None

#7 - LW/RW - Marshawn Mercury - Cornellians (SCHO)
23 years old - 6’3 - 164

One of the most entertaining Echani players, Marshawn Mercury has finally made the jump to a top level player. Mercury combines world class speed, with a fantastic and flamboyant dribbling ability. Add in natural flair and a tendency for the spectacular, and you have a truly jaw dropping player who constantly amazes and bamboozles with his creative play. He’s improved on his support play and has certainly added goalscoring to his tally. Won a threepeat for his boyhood club Sebio City before Cornellians in Schottia came knocking with a 9m check.
International Appearances: 79
Goals Scored: 11
Assists: 17
Awards: National Team: Baptism of Fire 60 (3rd). Club: Sebio City: 3x Seria-A champion (2017/2018/2019)

#15: ST (LW) - Robby Stanford (Sebio City)
23 years old - 6’3 - 154
Tall and lanky, Robby Stanford came out of absolutely nowhere to score 21 goals in his professional debut season for Philosos, and hit 17 and 23 in his next two seasons with the team. He transferred over to Sebio City and was essential in securing a third Seria-A title in a row, although only able to score 14 goals (which isn’t a problem when you have the sheer brilliance of Marco van Ciavatinni to your right). Incredibly intelligent on and off the ball, Stanford always seems to pick the right option. Laying it out wide to a winger, smacking it back to the defense to retain possession, taking a shot, making a run, all of it is perfectly timed. He’s got blistering pace about him, and a great finishing ability. He’s physically weak and poor in the air, so he’s not winning any balls in the air, but his real strength lies with the ball at his feet. Despite being a good player for Sebio City, rumors circulate of Sebio City looking for a world class striker or winger to partner with MvC.

#17 - LW (RW/ST) - Magnum Cerelius - Gracemeria
19 years old - 6’2 - 173
An exceptional player even at a young age, and one of the keys to the future along with Rafa DiSantos and Artemis Montanari, Magnum Cerelius hails from the island state of Gracemeria, and has been the star of the club since joining at the age of 4. A fantastic physical prospect, blistering pace and acceleration and a developing level of strength, Magnum Cerelius stands at 6’2 and is physically developing at an impressive rate. Absolutely incredible ball control skills and a penchant for flair-filled dribbling, Magnum loves nothing more than embarrassing and nutmegging defenders, and has also displayed a strong finishing ability. He’s been quite brilliant for a young Gracemerian team and rumors abound of Sebio City interest.
International Appearances: 20
Goals Scored: 5
Assists: 2

#20 - ST - Capello ‘C. Mortarotti’ Mortarotti - Parisia
24 years old - 6’3 - 191lbs
The first of the Mortarotti twins, Capello is the target man, finisher of the two. Poached up top for Parisia, he is responsible for finishing the chances provided by his more creative twin Tiburcio. The two of them have a telepathic connection and, while it has been extraordinarily helpful for their club Parisia, it hasn’t been enough to secure international football and there are rumors about of the two of them considering a transfer.
International Appearances: 3
Goals Scored: 0

#22 - ST(CAM/LW) - Tiburcio ‘T. Mortarotti’ Mortarotti - Parisia
24 years old - 6’1 - 172
The second of the famous Mortarotti twins, Tiburcio is the more creative, teamplayer of the two to them. Typically ‘positioned’ next to his twin Capello for Parisia, T typically drops deeper to receive the ball and play as the link up between the midfield line and his twin brother Capello. He has a little bit of a LSD problem, but apparently that only helps his creativity on the pitch, with his ingenious passing earning him the ‘twin’ laudits of one of the most accurate and simultaneously creative Echani passers in history. He’s (and to an admittedly much lesser extent his brother) a much welcome addition to the Eshan team, and we look forward to what he can bring during the World Cup.

------MONTANARI-------SAMPER M.------

--------BENTACUR---------

-----VAN CIAVATINNI-----BAUDELIO-----MERCURY-----

Playstyle: The Echani team plays a high-energy attacking game, moving the ball around quickly with primarily short passes, searching for a weakness in the opposition's defensive play. When a weakness is identified, the team surges forward in attack, with quick interlocking play to bring to ball to the goal. Creative freedom is given to the strikers, wingers, and the advanced playmaking midfielder, as well as the directive to roam from their position in an attempt to find pockets of space where they may be more effective. The team closes down quickly, aiming to win back possession in five seconds or less. Failing that, the team drops deep into defensive positioning to shore up any vulnerabilities. Echani defenders stay on their feet rather than trying desperate slide tackles. They love a good physical jostle with an opponent, and all Echani players are expected to contribute to both attack and defense. When in attack, the defensive line pushes higher up to pitch to condense play.

Most Likely to: (in order 1-3)

SULTANATE OF OONTAZ DERT LI NG
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL TEAM

This is the second time that Oontaz Dert Li Ng will be participating in the AOCAF Championship. Oontaz got through undefeated in the group stage of the Baptism of Fire 61 but was knocked out in the round of 16 by Arioslavia. The nation is a mix of Muslims and Catholics, with the Mohammedans concentrated in the northern part of the country and the Christians living mostly in the southern islands. Despite a turbulent early history which saw both religious groups fighting constant wars and rebellions, by the time Abanhfleft came and "occupied" the nation in 1921, a general "peace" had settled between the two groups, and today both are content to consider each other as Oontazniks. Despite being a sultanate, the freedom of religion is valued by the nation, although it would be good advice to say that while the Catholics and Christians might be welcoming, even accommodating, to foreigners of strange new religions, the Muslims might not be so welcoming.

BASIC INFORMATION
Name of nation: Sultanate of Oontaz Dert Li Ng
Demonym: Oontaznik
Team colors: Green and white
Style modifier: -2.0 (Defensive this time around)
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Head coach: Juan Dominador "Ador" Macaspac (39 y/o, Oontaz Dert Li Ng)

STARTERS
GK: Karim ANSARIFARID 33 y/o, Pasargad Manitogoro Image, captain
In the old days, Karim Ansarifarid was Mr. Oontaz. These were the days when Karim was the first choice keeper of Riuwiee United and Georges Leblanc. And then Karim was surprisingly sold back to his old Oontaznik club Pasargad Manitogoro and while Karim's goalkeeping skills didn't diminish, going back to his homeland seemed to have made Emir Usamah (the old manager of the team) forget all about Karim and his contributions to the Oontaznik national team during their historic run to the Coalition Cup (an informal tournament held between the national teams of Abanhfleft, Pridnestrovia, Oontaz, and Copper Cuprum). Following Oontaz's (unsurprising) exit in the Round of 16 of AOCAF 52 to Osarius, Ador Macaspac remembered that Karim still exists and called him back up to the squad.

RB: Marcus Oliver "Marco" PORTENCIO 23 y/o, Electric Yugal Image (Abanhfleft)
Marco Portencio is one of the new faces on the Oontaznik national football team following the sacking of Emir Usamah and the elevation of Ador Macaspac from star striker to new team manager. Marco is a quality right back who is already showing flashes of world-class brilliance, kind of like a cheap Oontaznik version of Hector Bellerin. He has pace in buckets, and he is also good for scoring a goal or two per season.

RCB: Makhdoum MACARAIG 35 y/o, Locomotive Imgortur Image (Abanhfleft)
Decent Oontaznik center backs can be hard to find, especially decent Oontaznik center backs in their early 30s or so, because in their day, attack was favored very highly over defense in the Oontaznik leagues, and therefore few 30-years-old-or-so Oontaznik defenders are actually any good at defending. Makhdoum Macaraig is one of those few rare defenders. His slow speed and ponderous build meant that he was never really suited to be anywhere near an attacking role, but that hasn't stopped him from having a good career at Abanhfleft's Locomotive Imgortur, which plays in the Fleftic Premier League. Perhaps there really are players who were meant to play in one league and not any other league.

LCB: Honesto CAMPANILLA 27 y/o, Gryphons Nubalochi Image
Sometimes it is lamentable that in a competition where experience and leadership would be most valuable in a back line, all that could be scraped up was a single slow defender who somehow made it big in Abanhfleft's top flight, and a bunch of young talent that could make it or break it at any day. Campanilla, or Estong as he likes to be called, has slightly more potential than the other defenders in the team, and he also has a slightly higher chance of being an actually good player than the others. Sure, he slide-tackles at every opportunity, and it is easy for an experienced forward or even midfielder to get him booked, but Estong only has to learn to not swing himself around like a mace and he could make it big like his big partner in the center, Makhdoum Macaraig.

LB: Martin OPULENCIA 24 y/o, Real Mikkaleth Image (Abanhfleft)
Another new face from Ador Macaspac's new look Oontaznik team. Martin is a resolute left back who doesn't shrink away from making any challenges, even against players normally acknowledged as "untouchable" by other teams' defenses. He is content to remain at the back, defending his goal when needed, but sometimes he might be commanded to come up for an attack, and he doesn't shrink away from scoring a goal or two per season either.

DM: Timothy SAN MARCELINO 28 y/o, General Santos FC Image
Of course it wouldn't be a real Oontaznik football team if a Santos player wasn't there. And in this part of the team, it looks as if Emir Usamah has finally assembled a team capable of making it through the World Cup qualifiers with at least a few draws and maybe a win or two. SanMar, as he's called by Oontaz fans, is, as his position states, a defensive midfielder, meaning that his main purpose is to break up any attacks attempted by the opponents before they reach the pitiful defense and the sadly shocking goalkeeper. It's a job that he does well enough that he's earned a starting spot in the most prestigious team in Oontaz Dert Li Ng.

CM: ABU NAYEF Ismailuddin 28 y/o, Pasargad Manitogoro Image
No one really thought much of Abu Nayef's inclusion to the national team since he was one of those players who was good enough in the league to get a spot in the national team, but not good enough to get a starting spot. But he's starting to earn a spot in Emir Usamah's team sheet, since he's turned out to be one of the surprise players of Oontaz's World Cup qualifying campaign. By now, he's a shoo-in for a spot on the bench, and if the going gets tough, he can handle a starting spot.
IMPORTANT: This player should be always referred to as Abu Nayef since Ismailuddin is a patronym.

RM: Haider ZULFIKAR 30 y/o, Riuwiee United Image (Abanhfleft)
Sometimes it can be such a shame when a good and promising player like Zulfikar ends up rotting on the bench, being unable to help his team even though he knows that he just might be the final piece of the puzzle that rescues a league campaign gone horribly wrong. Zulfikar was a member of the infamous Riuwiee United team that blew an eight-point lead at the summit of the Fleftic Premier League and turned it into an insurmountable five-point gap between first and third, where the Blue Tribesmen ended up to allow their rivals Arsenal de Releinthi to claim the title. Now, with the likes of Shinji Ikeda and Hamengkubuwono sold off or relegated to the bench, Zulfikar now has to show that he could be the change that Riuwiee and Oontaz Dert Li Ng needs.

CAM: Karimabdul DIMAINTINDIHAN 29 y/o, Thereisnogodistan FC Image (playing in the Fleftic Premier League)
Karimabdul became a rising star within both Abanhfleft and Oontaz when he scored a number of brilliant goals for Thereisnogodistan in the now-defunct Multiverse Premier League. His stock only rose up even further with his contributions to helping Thereisnogodistan get promoted to the Fleftic Premier League. He is the playmaking kind of attacking midfielder, setting up his teammates in scoring positions and holding up the ball if necessary. If he has a weakness, though, it's that sometimes he waits until he's crowded by the defense before making a pass. He's also making his first appearance for the national team since Magomedun Mangudadatu broke his leg in three places in an undislosed accident outside of the pitch.

LM: ZULFIQLI bin Alisher 27 y/o, Arsenal de Releinthi Image (Abanhfleft)
Sometimes, there comes a time that a team becomes so full of talent in the midfield that someone has to be dropped for the sake of the other players. Zulfiqli was... someone who had this happen to him. Everyone knows of Godric Wexler's reputation for finding and producing world class players from relative unknowns. He had done much the same with Zulfiqli, but unfortunately for the Oontaznik, his quality only appeared when Wexler had finally fixed his problems in his midfield. He knew that Zulfiqli would need starting minutes if he was to keep his spot in the starting eleven of the Oontaz national team, and that's why he was loaned to Pridnestrovia's Union Rheinburg. And now Zulfiqli's a vital component to the Eisern Union's surprise title challenge in the Pridnestrovian Super League.
IMPORTANT: This player should always be referred to as Zulfiqli since bin Alisher is a patronym.

FW: GODZILLA 31 y/o, Arsenal de Releinthi Image (Abanhfleft)
Full name Zito Leandro Gomes de Araujo. Godzilla got his nickname because of his spinal vertebrae sticking right through his skin, giving him the appearance of being the legendary kaiju, at least in terms of the dorsal spines. Godzilla (the player) is actually quite short for a forward, but that only means that he's got a low center of gravity which makes it difficult for the opposition to tackle him unless they really commit to it in which case it often results in a yellow or a red card. Godzilla used to be a fixture in the Oontaznik national team and this was the reason why Godric Wexler picked him up for Arsenal but both Godzilla and Arsenal were going through a rough patch when Emir Usamah was assembling his World Cup qualifying team and he didn't even give Godzilla the time of day then. But now that Ador Macaspac is managing the team, he's bringing back his old teammates for a renewed push at the AOCAF title.

RESERVES
GK: Septimio BARRANQUILLANO 31 y/o, Botafogo de Maranao Image, vice-captain
Maranao is renowned in Oontaz as being one of the best football academies, if not the best, in the country. It also has a reputation of producing good goalkeepers from its ranks. Unfortunately, Septimio is not one of those good keepers. Sure, he's decent, and can pull off a save that could be considered world-class, but for all intents and purposes, if he really was one of the good keepers, he would not be playing in Oontaz anymore, especially not for a mid-table side like Botafogo.

GK: Usamah ROBERTS-INGLES 23 y/o, Botafogo de Maranao Image
At least Botafogo's goalkeeper academy produced another good one. Unfortunately for him, he's both too young to be the national team's starting keeper, and he's also the son of a marriage between an Oontaznik and a foreigner, so discrimination is coming into play in here. But not by much, because he's so good and the other keepers are so... crap that Emir Usamah had no choice but to call him up even though both of them know that goalie Usamah won't get to play while Emir Usamah's the manager.

DEF: Alimuddin DIMAGIBA 34 y/o, Deportivo Mangudadatu Image
Alimuddin is probably the only reason why Deportivo Mangudadatu is still in the National League even though the team is basically relegation material. He's the only player on that team who looks like he still gives a f--- if the team wins or loses. All of the other players around him is his club look like they don't even care anymore, and it's a wonder why he hasn't asked to be transferred to another team. Maybe because he knows that only Mangudadatu's rivals, Racing Al-Ampatuan, would be willing to buy him for the inflated price that he knows that Deportivo will attach to him. If he has any fault in him, it's that he's too loyal to something and would not, could not let go even given time.

DEF: Zenofilo BATOBALANI 28 y/o, Racing Al-Ampatuan Image
It's not a real Oontaznik national football team if there isn't any player from Racing Al-Ampatuan in the roster, and Batobalani fits that role nicely. Al-Ampatuan used to be one of the biggest teams in Oontaz, constantly competing with Santos and Botafogo for titles and cups, but lately they've been on a bit of a decline, and now they're considered relegation fodder just like their traditional rivals, Deportivo Mangudadatu. Batobalani once had a future of being one of the greatest Oontaznik defenders of all time, and not just the present time but of all time. But instead of moving on to more prestigious teams and letting his talent get noticed, he decided to stick it out with the constant relegation scraps between Mangudadatu and Al-Ampatuan. Perhaps it would be prudent not to mention the loaded contract that he was given by the team owners, who have been accused of masterminding one of the greatest massacres in recent history, and also one of the biggest benefactors of the nation's endemic corruption culture...

DEF: Albert James DIMACATARUNGAN 30 y/o, Gryphons Nubalochi Image
Dimacatarungan's surname means "unfair" in the Mayin language, but this time, there's nothing unfair about his being on the bench. Dimacatarungan shouldn't even be anywhere near the Oontaz national team, but since he's a member of Clan Dimacatarungan, he gets a spot in the final roster. At least Emir Usamah isn't stupid enough to choose him over Estong Campanilla who, as said before, has, at least, a definite chance of becoming an actual quality player instead of Dimacatarungan, who is just plain shit. Strange to see him still in the team now that Emir Usamah is gone...

DEF: Jericson SARIMANOK 24 y/o, Gryphons Nubalochi Image
Gryphons are currently the team with the best defense in the Oontaz National League, so it's actually no surprise that a lot of their defenders have been called up for national duty. What is surprising is that Jericson is not playing with the starting eleven and is instead languishing on the bench with the rest of the reserves. Oh, wait; there is a logical explanation for this: Oontaznik clan politicking. Emir Usamah does have to balance clan politics with creating the best Oontaznik team there is, and Jericson was just one sacrifice in many on the altar of clan politics.

MID: Ronson "Ronnie" RAMIREZ 26 y/o, Riuwiee United Image (Abanhfleft)
Georges Leblanc spent 5 million new penenks to get Ramirez from Real Altamarino to the May 26 Memorial, but it seems a little bit too soon to say if he's had any impact in the Blue Tribesmen, and Leblanc has seen it fit to loan Ramirez out to Real Mikkaleth, who will be making to make yet another promotion push next season. Ronnie is more of a winger than a proper midfielder, but since Oontazniks never really believed in investing in proper wingers, Ronnie can fill in for that central midfield role, but not as well as when he's deployed as a real winger. Still, at least he's got a chance of breaking through and becoming a good and decent player, unlike the majority of the rest of his teammates.

MID: Macario "Mac-Mac" CORTES 27 y/o, Sporting Ceneisis Image (Abanhfleft)
Yet another promising Oontaznik youngster lured away from his home by the prestige and glamour of the Fleftic Premier League. The good thing is that Emir Usamah is setting up the team for the future, meaning that he's getting the most promising young Oontaznik players and getting them playing time with the senior team, which he knows will eventually be replaced by the youngsters once the veteran players grow old and retire. At least his reasons for being on the bench are much more justified than the others: he's still a little bit too young to be playing in the first team, and Magomedun Mangudadatu is still the best in the game in his position as CAM, which is also Mac-Mac's favored playing position. At least he gets to learn from one of the best.

MID: Josef "Joey Boy" MACALACAN 30 y/o, Union Rheinburg Image (Pridnestrovia)
Joey Boy is the classic box-to-box midfielder, balancing offensive and defensive duties and covering as much of the pitch as possible. Unfortunately, he has a tendency to focus on one specific duty for too long, and by the duty he could mentally shift himself from being an attacking player to a defensive player or vice versa, it's often too late, and the defense had been overrun by a competent opponent.

FW: Uziel Gal TZA'EER 33 y/o, Arsenal de Releinthi Image (Abanhfleft)
Another one of the old breed of Oontaznik players who were overlooked by Emir Usamah during the Sultanate's first foray into the World Cup due to clan commitments. Another reason why Uzi Tza'eer (named after the man who created the Uzi SMG) was not called up to the Oontaznik national team was because he was at the time going through a very poor run of form (12 consecutive games without scoring a goal) and Emir Usamah understandably didn't want to risk Uzi remaining cold in the Baptism of Fire and the World Cup. But now that he's back among the goals once again, Ador Macaspac is ready to give Uzi a way back into the national team.

FW: Oren YA'AKOVI 36 y/o, Riuwiee United Image (Abanhfleft)
Legend has it that Oren Ya'akovi's self-confidence is exceeded only by that of the likes of the famous (or infamous if you want to look at it that way) Timo Skye. It doesn't help that Oren Ya'akovi looks almost exactly like Timo Skye. It's as if someone cloned Timo Skye and managed to get the looks right but not exactly the talent itself. Nevertheless, Oren is a good enough footballer that he managed to make it into a stacked Riuwiee United side and is still carrying the Blue Tribesmen after almost a decade of faithful service and he's finally making his way back to the national team as well thanks to compatriot and fellow member of the "Oontaznik golden generation" Ador Macaspac.

FW: Eduardo ESTEVEZ 27 y/o, FK Torpedo Telgrad Image (Arioslavia)
Eduardo is a decent striker for his age, and there's definitely room for him to grow and take up Ador Macaspac's mantle when Oontaz Dert Li Ng's star striker finally decides to hang up his boots. But it looks like this won't be the case, as Teofisto Abcede surprised everyone else and took over Estevez's spot as Macaspac's backup striker option. Still, there's no denying that Eduardo can become one of Oontaz's best strikers after the age of Dominador Macaspac draws to a close, but it's up to him to realize that potential. Santos FC sold him to Arioslavia's FK Torpedo Telgrad in exchange for Alexey Bulganin. Now starting in place of the retired Ador Macaspac, who has become the new team manager after Emir Usamah was sacked.

Princip's Comment Amuses Rival On Rival Beginnings

Typically the job that a manager does is quite serious and needs a lot of effort and work if he wants his side to win, but when it comes to Audrei Princip he is on a different story. The manager of the National Team has recently made a comment about his rival and also a manager, Cecil ven Oryenko. Both coaches started a rivally since a hotly contested finals in the Royal League of Tomikosan. ven Oryenko, while managing for Redbridge Chiefs, made a sarcastic comment to Princip that he can win a 'mind of a wild boar'. His side terribly lost against Fujitsu Rangers and went on to give him a middle finger after the whistle had blown.

In an interview, Princip talks about ven Oryenko's personality and how he 'brilliantly' shows his stupidity to his other peers. He also talks about the time he wanted to know if he would needed a qualifying examination to prove he can actually coach a team, to which ven Oryenko bought a geniune degree at a retail website.

Interview by Audrei Princip:

My rival ven Oryenko shows how to be stupid the best way possible. I've seen him at every encounter I met at every match and he shows his idiocy to everybody in the stadium with brilliance. I'm quite suprised many people actually take this guy seriously. In fact, did you know that nobody actually know that he bought a degree on managing a team? That's clearly from eBay. I swear that he is not even a qualified coach! How he is still here is anybody's guess wouldn't you know? Here today, I give you the best way to make a team a successful one. Judge me all you want, you'll never be a legend like I am now.

Cecil, amused by his comments, calls back with his reaction on twitter.

And again this time with his own 'roast'.

The relationship between two coaches aren't going smoothly as both of them attempt to hurl insults at each other. Meanwhile, several football fans reacted with confused heads. 'I don't know if he's trolling are not, but the rumor is definitely a myth,' said one fan about Princip's rumor.

Family Affairs

Chapter One

Oh, had they risen fast. Football hadn't started out as the most popular sport in Redvale, it didn't get as much funding and state support as gridiron football did, and they had been forced to fight to win the best athletes over and convince them why they should play this sport instead of gridiron or hockey. But they had overcome that and they had overcome a terrible start as a national team that saw them tank in their first AOCAF, to win the second Global Cup of Soccer behind gritty play and some flashes of brilliance from striker prospect Park Sang Chul, who proved that he could do it in more than a minor league.

Park was a part of the Midland Six, that class of six youth players from the Midland Bluesox who had teamed up under unlikely circumstances to turn the team from the isolated working class city of Midland into the champions of the youth league, and while some of the others were having very good success at this point in their careers, with Renato Moleiro making a move abroad to Bonesea and Vic Tanner joining his hometown Markham Armor, Park had possibly the most success at all. Of course, on the club side, he was playing in the minor leagues of Endelos, for Karakosa BK, but for the national team, he had put in key performances to lead them to their title.

And with the national team, he had also met his girlfriend Hiroyo Nunez, the Handon United striker that was the daughter of former FC Maris legend and current Glenham Athletic top striker Aki Nunez. Aki had started his career before she was born, started a family during his career, and now that she was fully grown and having a career of her own at the age of twenty one, his career was still going strong. He had traded in the red and blue stripes of FC Maris for the green and black ones of Glenham when the Marisians didn't believe that he had anything left to give the club that he had given his all to, but he had succeeded in reinventing himself and keeping his goal counts high despite his rising age, and as he scored plenty of times last season and kept Athletic from getting relegated, he looked like one of their best ever signings.

But even though they were related, they weren't the same type of striker. Aki wasn't particularly tall and didn't rely on his game in the air, instead using his skill with the ball at his feet, his ability to shoot quickly before defenders can close down on him, and his good positioning and instincts to score goals that were often uncontested. Hiroyo, on the other hand, took a lot from her mother Elena’s side of the family and had the body of a sprinter with the technical skills of her father. At six foot nine, she was almost always the tallest footballer on the pitch, and her combination of speed and size, and knowing what to do when the ball was delivered to her, was what made her so incredibly dangerous to opposing defenses. Nobody had quite seen anything like her when it came to raw physical talent, and as she rose as a teenager with Glenham Athletic, she quickly became known around the country and even received her own nickname before she was out of high school: La Bambina.

The word on the street and in the bars where football was so often discussed, though, was that her family relationship had become strained by her team relationships. She had commanded quite a large transfer fee from FC Maris Ladies for a teenage player, and when she had finally made it into their first team consistently when she was nineteen, she found herself in constant conflict with the others. The management, including manager Shay Hara, seemed to want to put Sofia Cruze at the center of the team and make sure that they didn't lose her, because for as athletic as Nunez was, they said that Cruze was a generational talent because of her playmaking and her ability to be a dual threat that could score for herself in addition to using her unreal vision to get assists.

FCML had tremendous talent compared to the rest of the RW League, but they had too many egos in their locker room to have success if they didn't make some changes. Sofia wanted to be the sole ego on that front line, and Hiroyo wanted everyone to know that this was her team and hers alone. Sofia complained to management, Hiroyo flirted with a move to the crosstown rivals of FC Maris to try to spark some kind of change, and her bluff failed. The club really was prepared to sell her in the event that there was conflict between her and Sofia, and before she could back off and say that she wanted to stay for the rest of the season, she had been handed a list of transfer destinations: Maris Rovers, the Janford Roses, or Handon United. Deciding to test herself in Schottia and see if her game could hold up to playing abroad in a higher ranked league, she took the move to Handon and hadn't looked back since, starting almost every match for them up front.

Still, the whole incident had made things strained between her and her father, who was still very close to FC Maris and who had been put into a position where he had to choose to defend his club or his daughter. He'd tried to stay silent, but had eventually come out saying that his daughter was young and that she would make mistakes throughout her career. That statement hadn't sat well with Hiroyo, who expected her family to come out to support her, and deep down, she had been very hurt by the way that her hometown club didn't seem to have much loyalty to her and how her family supported their decision. She remembered some nights in Handon where she would feel all alone and call up her old teammates from Glenham, crying and begging for them to take her back to Redvale, and she remembered feeling so alone.

But that had been the early part of her time there. As she began to score and make new friends on this new team, she was able to get over moving from Maris and she found her confidence again, and with her confidence back, her familiar ego was back too. She had never mended things with her family after they didn't give her the support and approval that she had desperately wanted when she left Maris, and when Park Sang Chul got to know her and eventually became close enough to her to date her, that was one of the things that he noticed. She was famous partly because of her father, and yet she wouldn't talk about family life.

Today, as they were talking about taking a trip together somewhere to celebrate the Global Cup victory, Park decided to finally press the issue and figure out what it was with her and her family that made her stay so far away from them despite apparently still wanting to have a relationship with them. “We could go back to your hometown. Either Maris or Glenham, I haven't spent much time in either place. And I still haven't met your parents, you know.”

“Why do you want to meet them? You don't really want to, trust me. It's more complicated than the media makes all of this seem, and I'm not sure you want to get involved-” she said defensively, as they were packing in their hotel room and getting ready to head out… To whatever destination they eventually decided on.

“I don't know, it's just strange to me that you have this famous dad and everyone knows you because of him, but you never want to go home and visit and you never want to talk about family life, either. This is all because of a wounded ego from when you left your last club?”

“It's complicated, as I said. You could say that a part of it is that, but you would never understand the full reason why because you haven't played professional football in Redvale. Spend enough time there and you realize that some of the legends are true, and when you realize that, you'll see that my family is directly in the middle of that mess,” she replied cryptically, not explaining what the mess she was referring to actually was.

“Yeah, but I've played youth football there,” said Park. “What is it exactly that you mean when you say that you're family is in the middle of that mess? And what legends are you talking about, because there's a lot of them surrounding the R League and football in general around here?”

“I'm talking about the legend of the Reds and the Blues, the two shady groups of players who have existed in the background since before the R League was a thing. They exist in multiple sports, and my family is wrapped up with their mess and it's part of the reason why we don't talk and why they didn't support my move abroad.”

“The Reds and the Blues… You're talking about those secret societies that conspiracy theorists talk about, the ones that are supposed to define the different rivalries between players and that determine which players are friends? What's the truth behind that? I always thought that it was something stupid that the fans came up with to explain different things-”

Hiroyo shook her head with a long sigh as she set down the bag that she was packing and sat down on the bed. “I can assure you that it's more real than you think. You see, it goes way back, decades back, to when there was originally political and regional conflict between Maris and Avgaria and some of the other areas, and because of a lot of players having roots around those areas or being affected by the political decisions, they banded together and created these groups. There's the Reds, that generally support Avgaria and support what the government in general has been doing, and there's the Blues, who support more power for regions and have their roots in libertarianism. Obviously that clashes with the current government, in both the fields of governance and economics, so you can find the Blues in places like Maris and Janford, places that would benefit from more power going to the regions and from capitalism taking a greater role, and you can find the Reds in places like Avgaria, that support the government. The Reds have also encompassed Endelos these days, because the territories there benefit from the giant welfare budget.”

Park nodded and listened silently as she explained, surprised that these legends even had any truth to them. “And I take it that your parents are with the Blues and that you were once one of them too?”

“Exactly. And the group wanted me to stay in Maris, to keep the club from losing ground to the Reds, but I left anyway because of the dispute with management. That's what's strained things between me and my parents and it's also why we haven't talked recently. But you want to know another reason why I haven't been back in Glenham since I left the country? There's some serious shit that's about to kick off between the Blues and Reds, and I'm not sure that I want to get involved with this again. They take their prestige seriously, and they take getting one over the other seriously, and someone is going to get hurt. Hell, people already have gotten hurt over this in the past, killed even. This is a gang war, but it's not between gangs, it's between two patrician groups of athletes and their families, who would give anything to win and defeat the other in anything.”

“Sounds interesting, to be honest. You can't just tell your family that you're not there to get involved with that again?”

“There's no leaving it, Park, unless they throw you out. And right now, that's my status. If I come back, it's going to pull me back into this mess and it's going to make it hard to not have anything to do with whatever tinpot plan they're cooking up right now to get back at the Reds for something that happened over the Olympics. Still… If you think we should go to Glenham, we’ll go,” Hiroyo said, surprisingly. “And then maybe after you see that my family is crazy, you won't be so drawn to them. But if we both end up stuck in their plans, don't say I didn't warn you, Park. And don't complain if you're one of the ones that gets hurt in this.”

Audioslavia is, both ICly and OOCly, rather ancient. The country was founded on December 17th 2002, a period regarded as 'pre-history' by many. The nation originally CTE'd in 2006, was revived briefly in 2007 and 2009, and enjoyed a proper resurgence at the start of 2012, locating itself in Atlantian Oceania indefinitely after IC centuries of rivalries with various nations in the region.

The Audioslavia national side participated in World Cups 4 to 29, made an abortive comeback in World Cup 37, and rejoined the world of international football properly back in World Cup 59. The ancient Audioslavia side qualified for all but one of the World Cups it entered (a young Audioslavia failed during the WC5 qualifying playoffs) and generally maintained a place in top twenty of the world rankings, peaking at #1 during the qualifying phases of World Cups 20 and 21.

Paradoxically, the national team has seen more success in its modern form - a period where quick success is arguably more difficult to achieve than in the early days. Whereas those early years yielded only the inaugural U21 World Cup and a string of losing finals in the World Cup proper, the modern team won the Baptism of Fire tournament before WC59 and triumphed in the thirty-fifth, thirty-eighth and thirty-ninth installments of the AOCAF Cup. The side have also reached the final of the AOCAF cup on four other occasions and have reached as far as the semi-finals of the Cup of Harmony.

Modern Audioslavia finally won the World Cup itself in cycle 63, a victory that required a huge amount of luck and some very po-faced, negative football. Audioslavia managed to win the tournament despite going into the qualifiers with a ranking of #53 in the world. Four years later, in World Cup 64, the national side proved that this win, as fortunate as it was, was no flash in the pan when they again took home the World Cup trophy, completing the first ever 'double-double' of winning back-to-back AOCAF and World Cup championships. After forty-three cycles, Audioslavia returned to the rank of #1 in the world.

That era, from cycles 59 to 64, yielded two World Cups, three regional championships and the Baptism of Fire tournament. Since then, however, Audioslavia seem to have regressed into their old ways. The side have staunchly remained a top 10 team for over 13 cycles now and are cemented as an absolute powerhouse of world football, but are without further championships to show for their endeavours. Furthermore, World Cups 67, 69 and 76 saw the team lose the final match to Polar Islandstates, Holy Empire and Northern Sunrise Islands respectively, bringing their win/loss ratio in World Cup final matches to a lop-sided 2-7 record. As if that weren't embarassing enough, Audioslavia have been knocked out in the quarter final stage to Krytenia in each of the last three AOCAF Championships.
Audioslavian footballers tend to be a little on the small side, with few players standing over six feet (1.83m) tall. The average Audioslavian footballer stands at around about 5'8 (1.72m) or thereabouts, though most goalkeepers and central defenders are at least 5'11, and tall, strong strikers have become increasingly common in the Audioslavian game.

Audioslavian footballers are renowned for their high fitness levels and stamina, though a comparatively lithely framed squad do occasionally have problems when facing large, physical teams. Quick, one-touch passing is the key to Audioslavia's midfield prowess, which likes to play at a high tempo, and the side often take advantage of some fleet-footed wingers and full-backs to play through-balls beyond the opposition's defensive line after having created the space with some quick interchanges. Audioslavian attacking football was built on the idea that two crisp, quick passes around the opponent's penalty area will lead to a goalscoring opportunity, and as such the team's forward line throughout history has been littered with quick-thinking play-makers and dead-eye finishers.

Recent Audioslavian sides haven't been without their weaknesses. Since the retirement of the players that led the nation to glory in cycles 63 and 64 the teams have tended to lack true leadership figures on the pitch. Our nation's footballers tend to be stubborn with regards to letting peers tell them what to do. Audioslavian teams sometimes tend towards disorder and in-fighting when truly on the back-foot - say, when one or two goals behind in a game - and are easily disheartened when things start to go wrong. On the pitch, the side's lack of physical strength means defending against corners is often a problem, despite a well-drilled defensive line. Marauding full-backs can be susceptible to counter-attacks via the wings, and very few centre backs in Audioslavia are particularly quick.

Kontrapuntzeka has long been the name of Audioslavia's style of play, taken from the Auskadian word for 'counterpunch'. Audioslavia's ability to hold teams at bay for long periods before hurting them via quick counter-attacks and short bursts of activity helped the side to its two World Cup victories. As the years have gone by, Audioslavia have had to veer away from the style as opponents start to adapt and change. The system that won two World Cups in a row doesn't quite hold against modern football teams. The national team have never really adapted a new style, however

Audioslavia's squad has traditionally consisted of a multitude of Audioslavians plying their trade abroad, including a number of nationalised foreign-born players. The progression of the LigAnaia, however, and the success of the Audioslavian National League afterwards, has seen an larger proportion of domestic-based players make the national team squad. AC Izotz Zubia and 1830 Cathair are the traditional heavyweights of Audioslavian football and have, in the past, provided the national team with an abundance of national team players, but the resurgence of Moreazerua and Itzalovalle as footballing powers, and the arrival of previously unheralded Eletti Valligiani at Audioslavian football's top table, has given the national squad a very domestic feel in recent years.
A mainstay at centre-half for a decade, Frantzko Intxausti knows his way around the Audioslavian national team. A successful manager at AC Izotz Zubia after ending his playing days there, Intxausti was nevertheless criticised heavily during his reign at Zozi despite winning the Champions Cup, Audioslavian national league and LigAnaia in his tenure. Fans believed he hadn't made the best of the assets available to him, and succumbed the side to one or two very ordinary upper-mid-table performances despite having arguably the strongest squad in the league.

Intxausti is a cautious manager, and his games so far have relied upon a strong defence forming the basis for attacks and counters, although currently without the true manpower to accomplish such a feat, with a defence that is either on the wrong side of thirty or with less than a handful of caps to their names.

Roleplaying permissions: We frown on god-modding if there isn't a sense of humour behind it. Everything else is fine. If you'd like to injure a few players or dish out red cards for a particularly harsh game, go right ahead, go hog wild. Want to injure the entire team in a bus-crash? Fine, but make it good, or suffer the humiliation of having your limbs scattered hither and thither via a blast from my mighty ignore-cannon.

One general rule about the Audioslavian national team is that we are very, very often the 'fall guy'. We've lost so many big matches - WC finals, AOCAF finals, you name it - that we've come to thrive on being the big baddie who gets their comeuppance at the end. If your team has a particular strength or tactic that they like to use, by all means use it against us and RP that it worked tremendously. The scorinator may well show us to have won, but don't let us get away with it without having had a jolly good scare first, and make sure to *really* rub it in our faces if you beat us. Anything that makes it fun to RP. We wouldn't have it any other way.

Predicted Order of Finish:
Capital Group
1. Audioslavia
2. Chromatika
3. Qasden
4. The Redvale
5. Starblaydia
6. Semarland

Expect Audioslavia to finish atop the group, snatching an astonishing total of thirteen out of fifteen points with all wins except for one draw against Chromatika. Expect the hosts to follow behind them with a loss against The Redvale, and for Qasden to finish third by a point ahead of The Redvale, this group's dark horse. Starblaydia will mull to a fifth place finish while Semarland will be the one having the most issues.

Eastern Group
1. Valanora
2. Farfadillis
3. 95X
4. Tallaga de Falla
5. Taranga
6. Blouman Empire

It will be the Vanorians standing atop of this group when the dust settles, with the Farves not too far behind. 95X will be in third, with Tallaga de Falla and Taranga, followed by Blouman Empire.

Western Group
1. Krytenia
2. Osarius
3. Eshan
4. Oontaz Dert Li Ng
5. Tomikosan
6. Kyrgustan

Krytenia, last edition's champions, will edge out Osarius, with Eshan a close third narrowly ahead of Oontaz. Tamikosan and Kyrgustan bring up the rear.

Island Group
1. Cosumar
2. Vilita & Turori
3. Tropicorp
4. Western Sunrise Islands
5. Iskandervale
6. Ngolia

Cosumar will top this group, determined to make noise in their rival's home. Vilita & Turori will follow, with their subsidiaries, Tropicorp, finishing third. Western Sunrise will disappointingly finish fourth, with Iskandervale and Ngolia bringing up the rear.

Play-In Round: Chromatika over 95X, Osarius vs. Tropicorp, Farfadillis over Qasden, Vilita & Turori over Eshan.
Expect no upsets as four high ranked nations take their respective prizes.

Quarterfinals: Chromatika over Cosumar, Vilita & Turori vs. Audioslavia, Farfadillis over Krytenia, Valanora over Osarius.
Chromatika will defeat their rivals once more while Vilita takes down Audioslavia; Farfadillis shows up Krytenia while Valanora takes down Osarius.

Semifinals: Valanora over Chromatika, Vilita over Farfadillis.
The defending WC champs take down Farfadillis while Chromatika can't get over the Vanorian hump.

3rd Place: Chromatika over Farfadillis
A spirited effort gives the Chromatiks a trophy.

Final: Valanora over Vilita.
The Vanorians show the Vilitans that they might be the WC champs but within AO, it's Valanora that's the boss.

Home Away

Manager
Côfcarthor Undorina
Age: 1286
With the VSC breathing down his neck and potentially looking to cut his tenure in charge one cycle early, Undorina has to show his credentials in the AOCAF if he wants to make it to this third cycle in charge of the squad.

Assistant Manager
Parnornede Haedhen
Age: 1180
Partnering Undorina is Haedhen, who looks to be another technical minded manager who likes to continue the tradition of the technical attacking play that is both beautiful to watch but also quite efficient in dealing with a variety of opponents.

Keeper

1 Aediron Galadirdren, Ibini FC
Age - 689
Sex - M
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 174 lbs
Galadirdren looks to be the long term solution for the Marauders in net after several stellar seasons in the domestic scene with Ibini FC. While not loud and "in control" of his box, the keeper is very good when the opposition has a breakaway, as well as some amazing reflexes. His best attribute though is his near perfect position, always seeming to know where the opposition is going to place their shots or crosses.

Defenders

2 Morlaithan Aldamiel, AC Izotz Zubia Image
Age - 702
Sex - M
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 162 lbs
A tough and quiet sort at the back, more physical than your usual Vanorian centerback thanks to the years that he has played in Audioslavia. More of a stay at home defender than the rest of the backline and more prone the occasional card due to the more physical nature.

3 Rainyardil Toraandal, Avenida Principal Image
Age - 661
Sex - M
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 168 lbs
Toraandal is deceptively fast and agile for a person of his size and also very keen to get in on the attack during prolonged spells in the opponents third. With his size and pure athletic ability, he has a knack for getting open in the box and heading home his fair share of goals, though it is his stern defending that is the reason that he was put on to the starting eleven.

4 Revhil Lardireil, Hondo FC
Age - 660
Sex - M
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 171 lbs
Like Toraandal, Lardireil is used to getting into the attack, having spent the majority of his career at Hondo with their attacking flavor. However he has the speed of a cheetah and the strength of an elephant, most likely the most versatile of the three defenders that the side uses.

Midfield

21 Espy va Drake, 1830 Cathair Image
Age: 765
Sex - M
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 159 lbs
After becoming a folklore hero for the lower class of the world, va Drake has made himself one of the living legends of the game after help leading the side to a title in World Cup 53. He has traveled far and wide while plying his trade, donning kits for no less than five countries clubs. Seen as the driving force in the middle of the park alongside Hawk, it is up to the opposition to try and figure out how to deal with the brilliance the winger and his other attackers have rather than them to create magic.

6 Caeltimyonan Haerear, Mar Sara FC
Age - 620
Sex - M
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 163 lbs
Coming from Mar Sara you would expect Haerear to be more of an attacking option, yet the midfielder is more of a box to box playmaker than the attacking midfielders usually coming from the Flames. Not overly fast or physical but Haerear has a motor that never quits, never giving up on a play or a game despite how dire the situation may be.

10 Laborious Hawk, AC Izotz Zubia Image
Age - 729
Sex -M
Height: 6'5"
Weight: 213 lbs
Words do not even begin to define his talent, his talent defines words. He was awarded one of the spots that the Vanorians have in the World Cup Hall of Fame, with it being very well deserved, as he has and continues to earn everything he has been given every single day. Hawk simply strives to be the very best footballer, captain, and teammate that there can be, with the hunger for perfection driving him forth on and off the pitch.

8 Ilglerdiriel Lithvathar, Raynor City United
Age - 735
Sex - F
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 149 lbs
Lithvathar is much like va Drake, a floater who is dynamic in attack but with enough speed and sense of the pitch to make up on any sort of defensive lapse. Yet unlike her flankmate, she is not nearly as skilled, but do not let that fool you, in a moment of magic she can undress an entire backline and set up more prolific scorers with easy chances.

7 Faeron Soldarian, 1830 Cathair Image
Age - 643
Sex - M
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 163 lbs
Soldarian continues to live in the shadow of more well known players both on the national team and with his club. Despite this, Soldarian is seen by all on the squad as the emotional leader and the linchpin the in the middle that allows the more attacking minded midfielders being allowed to play their game.

Strikers

9 Allandren Fresco, Ibini FC
Age - 518
Sex - M
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 167 lbs
Fresco continues to lead the line of the attack, being the tip of the spear that is the Marauders offensive movement. By now most teams know of the striker's pace and near laser guided shot, however the striker still somehow finds ways to bring in the goals.

11 Galasgoldas Tathtauré, OAS Royal FC Image
Age - 600
Sex - M
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 157 lbs
A more finesse striker than what Fresco is used to being paired with, Tathtauré has the speed to run past opponents with plenty of dribbling skill to work around multiple defenders. While not as strong as Celetholtinu was, Galasgoldas can still play a hold up role in a pinch.

Subs
13 GK Legoion Taltauré, age 685, Char Sara FC
20 GK Belltarion Nartalhûn, age 559, AC Valanari
15 CB Bronlanda Culiththir, age 603, Char Sara FC (F)
16 CB Urúvdion Shatholryl, age 668, Wexax United
17 CB Ainglad Gwavaul, age 609, Hondo FC

Cosumar National Team
AOCAF LIII
Image

Basic Information

Nation: The Fiefdom of Cosumar

Government: Cosumar is a Fiefdom, meaning Cosumar is divided into 21 historical "fiefs". These essentially now function as provinces. Cosumar's government is a constitutional monarchy dedicated to complete civil rights for all sentient beings, advancement of science, conservation of nature and space exploration. Cosumar is known for being the "Most Developed" nation in Atlantian Oceania according to WA Census, and in the Top 1% of the world's developed nations. King James II has continued Cosumar's tradition of promoting progress while simultaneously maintaining our unique culture and diverse natural features.

Region: Atlantian Oceania (far Northeast/COCANEFA)

Nicknames: Vanquishers (since WC 72) or, more formally, Azure Dragons

Colors: Navy, Royal Blue, Silver, White

Stadium: Leviathan Arena (capacity 99,114)

Location: Kaldukosic, Kaldukosic Fief, Cosumar
Image
The largest and one of the most iconic venues in Cosumar, Leviathan Arena has served as the home of the National Team since it was constructed for WC 55. Local Sekundar Ligan club FC Kaldukosic is its regular tenant. Leviathan has the steepest and tallest stands of any stadium in Cosumar. Sitting up high is not for the weak of heart - visitors occasionally faint from the sheer steepness of their view. With fans towering above the pitch, Leviathan has subsequently become infamous for its colossal - even suffocating - atmosphere. Also of note is its Museum of Cosumarite Sport, one of the largest in-stadium museums in the world.

Kaldukosic itself is the most populous city in Cosumar (16 million metro) and is one of the most important hubs in Atlantian Oceania, situated on the east coast of mainland Cosumarus, south across the bay from the capital Ramusok. The two cities' metro areas overlap to form one large megalopolis. Whereas Ramusok is known more for its artistic, historical and governmental importance, Kaldukosic is a the mecca of Cosumarite business, home to booming technology, finance and medical industries. It has an older, more profession-oriented population than Ramusok and a higher average income. Not as much youthful energy in the nightlife or music/art scenes, but plenty of swanky luxurious clubs and hangouts. Your teams should enjoy their visit.

History

Snapshot: Cosumar made its international debut in World Cup 51. In World Cup 73, new manager Gethin Ramsey built on the momentum from winning the preceding Cup of Harmony to qualify Cosumar to the World Cup Finals for the first time since World Cup 62, ending a miserable 20-year drought. Since, the Dragons have advanced to five consecutive World Cup knockout rounds and three Quarterfinals. With the program now reestablished as a contender, expectations are higher than they have been in a long time...even though Cosumar have always underachieved in regional competition. A first ever trip to the AOCAF semifinals is the goal.

Expanded History: Cosumar qualified for six consecutive World Cups (54-59) in its "golden age" of soccer, going out twice in the group stage and then four times in the Round of 16. After World Cup 59, Cosumar reached its peak ranking of #7 in the world. The National Team began a gradual decline in World Cups 60 & 61, in which they were eliminated in the Qualification Playoffs despite strong campaigns. They would qualify once again for World Cup 62 in Astograth, but the downward trajectory had already set in. World Cups 64-66 were particularly bleak and saw our once-elite ranking dip as low as the 80s. Many demanded the sacking of Farris Crowley, manager since WC54... the glory days of his tenure a distant memory. But the Fiefdom Soccer Federation (FSF) stuck with him, and Cosumar began re-emerging as a force to be reckoned with around World Cup 68. A marvelous crop of young talent (think Francois Renault, Alexander Pearce, etc.) now lovingly referred to as the "Renaissance Generation" started to restore the former honor to the Dragonshirt. They led several increasingly competitive Qualifying and Cup of Harmony campaigns...though they never did manage to return to the biggest stage. They came oh-so-close, but the Football Gods were never on their side. Their generation's swansong ended up being a 3rd place medal at Cup of Harmony 62. But then the next cycle World Cup 72, threatened to erase all the momentum. It was a colossal disaster. The worst since our WC51 debut. Eight draws against lower-ranked sides. Farris Crowley was finally sacked after 40 years. Nephara legend Gethin Ramsey arrived and salvaged Cosumar's ranking by winning the subsequent Cup of Harmony. Ramsey continued to work wonders afterwards, leading his "Vanquishers" to five consecutive World Cup Finals (73-77), including our best-ever finish (Quarterfinals) three times. With Cosumar now ranked in the world's top 15 and drawing from a deeper pool of talent than any in our history, sights will be set on finally making some noise in the AOCAF, especially after such a disappointing showing in AOCAF LII.

Cosumar 4-0 Haginonia - World Cup 54 Interzonal Stage - Showdown on the final day of Qualifying with both sides' first World Cup berth at stake: we rolled.

Cosumar 7-3 Kagdazka & Pazhujebu - World Cup 60 Qualification Playoff - Brutal revenge against K&P for ousting us on penalties in the previous World Cup's Round of 16.
Cosumar 5-1 The Sarian - Cup of Harmony 64 Finals - Ramsey and the newly-christened "Vanquishers" propel Cosumar to lift a first WCC trophy.
Valanora 2–2 Cosumar (3–3 AET) (7–8 pen.) - World Cup 73 Round of 16 - After splitting the series in group play, we triumphed over the Elves to claim our first ever Quarterfinals.

Most heartbreaking moments:
Cosumar 1-1 (1-1 AET, 3-4 PKs) Churchma - Cup of Harmony 45 Semifinals - Losing on penalties always hurts, especially when it's to your oldest rival so deep in a tourney.
Cosumar 0-3 Sorthern Northland - World Cup 55 MD3 - It came down to this match for a spot in the Ro16, and we got our asses kicked.
Cosumar 2-4 Sorthern Northland - World Cup 56 Round of 16 - We finally made it to the knockout rounds for the first time, just to be humbled by these guys again.
Cosumar 1-4 Jeru FC - World Cup 57 Round of 16 - Another drubbing in the Ro16.
Cosumar 0-4 The Babbage Islands - World Cup 58 Round of 16 - New Cup, same story. Dragons fall apart in the knockouts.
Cosumar 3-3 (3-3 AET, 2-4 PKs) Kagdazka & Pazhujebu - World Cup 59 Round of 16 - This is THE match that haunts the dreams of every Cosumarite to this day. We had rolled through our Qualification and World Cup groups in dominant fashion - completely undefeated. It was the greatest Cosumarite team ever assembled, seeming destined for new heights. In the Ro16, the Dragons led the Urchins 3-0 late and celebrations had already begun. But Chalia Sajid scored a flurry of goals for an unlikely hat trick in final 15 minutes to force extra time. In the eventual shootout, we would completely choke, badly missing the target twice. Complete and utter shock. Many wandered if Cosumar would EVER be able to advance to the quarterfinals and exorcise these demons. It took nearly 30 years.
Cosumar 0-0 (0-2 AET) Unified Sunrise Islands - World Cup 75 Quarterfinals - On the brink of our first ever semifinals appearance, we are sunk by a Kevin Stabb brace in extra time to lose our chance to play for a WC medal. This "cinematic" USI team, which came out of nowhere, would go on to win the whole thing, leaving Cosumarites wondering what could've been.
Cosumar 2-2 (2-3 AET) Chromatika - World Cup 76 Quarterfinals - Cosumarites come agonizingly close to tasting the semifinals once again. The Vanquishers twice give up their lead and fall in extra time despite Chromatika going down to ten men and infamously moving one of their star attackers to goalkeeper in desperation. Pure torture. The match that made Chromatika our greatest modern rivals.

Team Information

Style Modifier: +2

Post-WC76 Ranking: #13 (KPB 35.33)

Formation: 4-3-1-2
With a new manager comes a new set of tactical ideas. Gethin Ramsey is gone and so is that beloved flat 4-4-2 from which he never wavered. Even though he was a defender in his playing years, new boss Alexander Pearce brings a more attacking approach with a 4-3-1-2 that essentially functions like a 4-3-3 but with one of the strikers dropping back to play in the hole as a true #10 behind the other two. Filling that crucial role is Rozelle playmaker Alora Heher. Pearce essentially crafted this formation around the budding star, hoping to maximize her talents better than Ramsey did.

Tactical Breakdown: The play tends to flow somewhat narrow through this formation, with most chances being worked through the center rather than channeling it wide and pumping in crosses like we did so often under Ramsey. This is ideal because of Heher's instincts pulling string in the middle, and because neither of young strike duo Valgard/Targaryen is particularly strong in the air - both much better finishers with their feet. When the ball is won in the defensive half, the immediate outlet is then usually Stig Söderquist in the middle instead of always finding the wingers like we were used to. LM Bellerophon Serafino covers a crazy ground and can also materialize in the middle to receive an outlet before quickly drifting back out to the left. The three-man midfield line can then choose to combine laterally with each other or find one of the three attacking players ahead of them. When they play directly to Valgard or Targaryen, that sets up the magic situation: they can play to the feet of Heher 20 meters from goal, then make a cutting run to receive the ball back in on goal or create space for the other striker. Pearce has been working his young attacking corps relentlessly on these combinations this week. If defenses crowd and overcommit to the CAM in response, that's when the Vanquishers can bring the LM/RM/LB/RB forward and flex some width. This formation does, however, place a lot of strain on the LM and RM. They need to provide width in the final third, but then get back and squeeze narrower as the first line of pressure in the case of an opposition counter. Fortunately, work rate is a particular strength of Serafino and Kit Kvanderwyk. In essence, the "up the spine" play style actually funnels the opposing team into the center of park, gives space for strikers to operate and makes the wide players all the more dangerous when the play does calls for them. A by-product of the “funneling” idea is that it forces the opponents to play narrow as well and therefore makes it easier to defend against them if that is not their usual style.

Note on Vloo: The roster consists of 23 players, 22 of whom are standard humans. The other player (defender Bacary Na'Kale) is of the Vloo people (species homo cosumarensis), a humanoid race native to Cosumar. Vloo are, on average, two inches taller than humans (which admittedly can come in handy on set pieces), and they must use different footwear due to their foot structure. Vloo have blue-tinted skin, two small black horns protruding from their foreheads, and spiky spines that be visibly seen from the back of their head/neck for some. And tails. They are distinguished by their surnames, with typically begin with prefixes such as Na' or Va'. Since World Cup 51, there has always been at least one Vloo player in the squad, but never more than four.

Cosumar's current kits were prepared for the team by Meski Soccer & Sports Store of Red Blackiland before the World Cup 75 cycle, our 50th anniversary in international competition. The design has been applauded by for improving upon the already-brilliant kits that served us from WC 71-74, while still staying true to the spirit of the beloved WC 54-69 classic kits. The home and away kits make heavy use of the national colours (blue, white, silver) and the majestic Cosumarite Azure Dragon that these lands are famous for. The goalkeeper kit features hints of the royal family's colors: Green and Gold.

First-Choice Starting XI

Goalkeeper - Cormak Lethbridge - 29 - Image Coret Hawks Image
Make no mistake, Jakk Winterfyll is still the first-choice goalkeeper for Cosumar. New manager Alexander Pearce wants to see what else he has at the position, however, and received permission from Jakk to skip him for this AOCAF. Lethbridge could make things interesting though if he grabs this opportunity with both hands. Tall, spindly goalkeeper. The best parts of his game are his distribution, unflappable poise and organization -- earning the nickname "The Brigadier" for his command of the defense. Above average in the shot-stopping department too, though Lethbridge has been criticized for his perceived unwillingness to come out of the box. He has done a nice job in two seasons in Nephara after leaving FC Kaldukosic, making these first caps well-deserved. It might not be a coincidence either that FC Kaldukosic have plummeted down the table with catastrophic defending since then without their "Brigadier". The local spectators here in Chromatika, however, will primarily just know him as the boyfriend of a certain Chromatik superstar...

Left Back - Bacary Na'Kale - 24 - Image Mâ Âlâmëómë Image
After cracking the Cassandra City first team at barely 18 and outshining established players, Na'Kale became the subject of a sudden rainfall of foreign bids. Cassandra City could not resist, Mâ Âlâmëómë won Na'Kale's services, and the Vloo further surprised by locking down the first-choice left back spot in Farfadillis almost immediately. At 19. Na'Kale has played almost every minute of the last four seasons now for the powerhouse club and helped them to a resurgent title. His rise to club stardom has been mirrored in the National Team over the last few World Cups, in which he has registered a crazy amount of assists for a left back. Na'Kale's pace is his most noticeable attribute, but it is his intrinsic understanding of the position that, when combined with his athleticism, makes him so special. He has also vastly improved his dribbling and crossing since moving to Farfadillis. Where once was a weakness, Bacary has since become better than 90% of fullbacks. Hence 11 crossed assists in the last two World Cups. In with a shout as the best Cosumarite player right now. And he's still so young! The Vanquishers appear to be set at this position for the next decade or so.

Center Back - Torbjörn Jorgensen - 25 - Image SC Rinaldi Image
Tremendous young defender with big-time championship-winning experience in Cosumar and LigAnaia. He doesn't offer anything fancy like passing range or dribbles, but he's a beast of a physical presence. He's defends aggressively and wears his heart on his sleeve in every match, defending the goal from every cross, every dribble, every shot like it's his only reason to live. He's smart though and does a good job controlling his aggression intelligently. That mentality helped SC Rinaldi survive last season despite being pinned as strong relegation candidates. His heroic efforts saw him named to the Vanorian league's Best XI. Jorgensen was developed by the Real Azuris academy and broke into their starting XI at 18, shoring up their defense and anchoring a title campaign. He was subsequently named Defender of the Year. At 18. His newfound stardom didn't go unnoticed and FC Jansberg subsequently added him to their collection of Cosumarite defenders alongside countrymen Soarhaven and Svensson. He won more titles there. When he played in Cosumar, fans of rival teams cruelly called him "pizza-face" because of his bad acne, which he still bears.

Center Back - Peter Svensson - 28 - CAPTAIN - Image AFC Treason Image
Detecting a future centerpiece, Gethin Ramsey brought Svensson along slowly during the World Cup 72 and 73 cycles. By World Cup 74, he was ready to take over as the heart and soul of the Cosumarite defense. The entire team looks to Svensson as a leader now. A titanic figure for FC Jansberg through the entirety of its LigAnaia tenure and now for AFC Treason (winning Premiership Debutant of the Year as Treason marched to the CC semifinals), Svensson is the dream center back. He's impressive physically (hella strong folks), a master of interceptions, comfortable dribbling and passing and, most of all, an infamous aerial threat on set-pieces. It feels like Svensson has been around forever, but people forget that he was only 19 when he started winning titles for Jansberg. He was a homegrown standout for the Na'Malsille Mariners before that. He has so much experience but he's really just now in the peak years of his career. Is there a better center back in the world right now??? He is the nephew of Herrgly Svensson, a famous Cosumarite daredevil known for skydiving out of a space station, and little brother of Erak Svensson, a Congressman.

Right Back - Mortimer Chisenhall - 26 - Image Real Azuris Image
A prized product of the AC Holmenkollen academy, Chisenhall spent several years there as a young phenom before finally completing his long-awaited move to a bigger club at age 22. He had a shaky start to life in Azuris, but found his footing - and more - in his second and third seasons there. The last few years have seen Chisenhall emerge as the best defensive right back in all the Harlighet Ligan. He was part of an Azurian back line that dominated the league en route to a double-digit points gap three years ago, and was instrumental in Real's astonishing Champions Cup victory last year. Chisenhall's attacking capabilities are somewhat limited, but he is just a fantastic one-on-one defender. Off the pitch, he's a quiet lad and almost always has his nose in a book.

Left Midfielder - Bellerophon Serafino - 24 - Image Cassandra City Image
It's apt that this kid is named after a pegasus-riding Greek hero. With long legs and long galloping stride that rapidly eats ground, Serafino is a true pegasus-like workhorse. Minus the flying. Sometimes he gets from one end of the pitch to another so fast that opponents probably thought he flew though. Each of the last two seasons, he has broken his own Harlighet Ligan record for mileage covered - instrumental in holding Cassandra City's thinly-spread midfield together. Serafino is somehow still uncapped despite his MVP performances for the Reds, but Alexander Pearce has made it his first priority to fix that. Pearce is placing a lot of faith in him, constructing the tactics around Serafino so that he's in a similarly instrumental role as at Cassandra City - one that demands him to contribute heavily in every third of the pitch and always being in place in time to do so. Serafino's ability on the ball in limited - he won't beat defenders with individual skill or score many goals - but he can flow in move n' pass sequences with the best of them and play some nice long balls in. Off the pitch, he's known for his satirical (we hope?) covers of popular rap songs on social media.

Center Midfielder - Stig Söderquist - 24 - Image Real Azuris Image
Stig is a sharp box-to-box midfielder. His best role is to hold, to cover for and feed more attack-minded partners. He doesn't do anything flashy to pop off the screen, but he does all the little things that help a team succeed. Always finishes with an extremely high pass completion rate and ratio of successful tackles in midfield. He's a native of Azuris who joined Real's academy system at age 11 and gradually worked his way up to a starting position for the senior team over ten years. With Söderquist efficient beyond his years as the beating pulse behind the curtain in midfield, Real Azuris swept the rest of the Harlighet Ligan aside for a second domestic Double in three years and then stormed their way to a Champions Cup. There's no overlooking him now. Söderquist is a quietly superb player that any coach would love to have in their side. World Cup 77 was his first tournament as the penciled-in starter, making this his first time starting in an AOCAF.

Right Midfielder - Kit Kvanderwyk - 28 - Image Cornellians Image
Fan-favorite Kvanderwyk had a great World Cup 77 cycle with 7 goals. If there was any doubt that he was back in the NT fold to stay, the subsequent appointment of his manager/mentor from Cornellians, Alexander Pearce, should remove it once and for all. Smart career choice, moving to Cornellians, eh? He and Pearce, along with sister Kathryn Kvanderwyk, have been an unstoppable Cosumarite trio in Schottia, leading Cornellians to the Champions' Cup group stage and multiple domestic titles. Kit was originally a prized product of the FC Kaldukosic academy who managed to crack their first team by age 17. At 21, he transferred to Cassandra City and helped the Reds win the Harlighet Ligan, placing in the top five for Player of the Year. That success earned him a super-sub role for the national team throughout the WC 73 cycle, during which he scored three goals. But declining club performances after that saw him slide out of favor until being rejuvenated under Pearce at Cornellians. Kvanderwyk is skillful, inventive and intelligent... but lacking great pace. He won't blow by any opponents - he instead uses his technicality and cleverness to create space before delivering balls in with pinpoint accuracy. Off the pitch, Kvanderwyk is a massive fan of the Cosumarite heavy metal scene even hosts his own annual music festival: the KvanderFest.

Central Attacking Playmaker - Alora Heher - 25 - Rozelle Image
Heher (pronounced: hay-er) was a surprise story when she won WOTM with a goal and two assists in her Cosumar debut off the bench in AOCAF 52. She'd scored 17 goals here in Chromatika, at Alnio, but few back home knew about that. She's not surprising anybody anymore though. Now an established star, all eyes are squarely on her as she takes the reins of the Cosumarite attack for the first time as a regular starter. After impactful substitute appearances throughout World Cups 76 & 77, most people are saying "it's about damn time". Unfortunately, there's still a little bit of uncertainty as to what exactly she can do due to her bad luck with club situations. She missed a season due to Chromatik politics, and her debut season at Rozelle was overshadowed by match-fixing scandals. This AOCAF will be an opportunity for Heher to finally prove herself on a big shining stage and prove she belongs in the team long-term. She is extremely quick and energetic, wearing out defenders over the course of the game. Most impressive though is her killer instinct in the final third. She excels threading that perfect ball between the lines, through the defense. Her tidy touch in tight quarters also makes her ideal for this play-through-the-middle #10 role.

Striker - Romikk Valgard - 23 - Image West Gundar FC Image
Many are looking at Romikk Valgard's dizzying rate of development and predicting that he could become the next big Cosumarite superstar very soon. In the three seasons since WGFC scooped the lad up from obscurity for $300k pocket change, he scored 9 goals, then 11, then 16 - the most of any Cosumarite in the Harlighet Ligan last season. With each season, his once-shaky first touch, composure and left foot came back dramatically improved. And his right-footed shot and natural all-around athleticism were always first-rate. Now he can thrive finding a window on goal in tight spaces with ball underfoot or running into open space with bursting acceleration and finishing with either foot. That improvement continued in the last WC as he earned his first caps. Under the tutelage of Gethin Ramsey and Anders Engström, he grew before our eyes in all six of his substitute appearances, scoring five goals (including multiple late winners). Instant phenomenon. He'll be the most-talked-about Cosumarite heading into this tournament, with the whole Fiefdom eager to get a better look at him in the Dragonshirt. He's surprisingly weak in the air for someone of his height though, which Pearce has factored into the tactics, and still has trouble with 90-minute stamina. But if his exponential growth continues, how much longer until those weaknesses too erode? An ambitious club move is now needed to fulfill this obvious potential, so he'll be eager to put himself in the shop window with a big AOCAF. Also of note is that Valgard is the first player born on extraterrestrial colony Kalloroda to play for the National Team. He also has a thing for bananas.

Striker - Ragnar Targaryen - 24 - Image CA Paulinthal Image
Ragnar signed with CA Paulinthal at 17 as a top prospect out of Rocinante Prep. School, Cosumar's most prestigious private youth residency academy. Last year, he finally broke through as a starter at CAP after six years of simmering development. And what a whirlwind year it was! Solidifying himself as part of a lethal attacking trio alongside Valladares international Abel Brücke and Euran star Mattiu Searlait, Ragnar helped propel CAP to the Copa de Campeones Final... and the brink of the SuperLiga title. His sudden stardom in Pasarga makes him a must-play for new manager Alexander Pearce. Targaryen was uncapped before World Cup 77, but stepped right in and led the team in goals+assists. He showcased his sublime first touch and remarkable passing ability for a striker. He doesn't have Valgard's pace, but he's a hard runner. And though he's perhaps slightly below-average height for a striker, Ragnar is sturdily built and has natural heading ability when he can win the ball in the air. He has also earned something of a reputation for scoring from unusual angles in Pasarga. He can still improve at dribbling at players and at holding the ball up (something he'll be asked to do partnering with Valgard). Off the pitch, Ragnar is heavily into sci-fi and fantasy fandom - a geek at heart. He's also a big fan of his hometown club: Mallox.

The Rest of the Squad

GK - Balbulus Grimwade - 27 - Image Ramsissil Image
Another brilliant goalkeeper who has long deserved a call-up only to be stymied by the equal brilliance of those already in front of him. But with Pearce assessing inventory, the perennially underrated Grimwade is set to finally collect a cap or two. Due to his deceptive chubby face and reserved demeanor, he's often forgot when discussing top Cosumarite keepers, but those who know their stuff will recall just how huge he was for OAS Royal at such a young age. The last year there, he allowed only 1.01 goals per match and finished in the top five in Player of the Year voting. He has been quietly brilliant in Vilita ever since, keeping a struggling side afloat with his saves. Last year, he was the highest-rated goalkeeper in the V-League.

LB - Alexis Brill - 23 - Image Violence Chariots Image
Former U21 stalwart Brill broke through as a starter in Nephara last season and Pearce has rewarded her with her first invitation to join the senior team. She wasn't a showstopper for Chariots, but she fared well by most accounts, which is enough to be impressive for a young defender trying to make her way at a major Premiership club. Her acclimation was aided by the fact she was already quite experienced going to Nephara at 20, having played first-team soccer for St. Marie in Kernansquillec since 16. Brill is a slightly undersized fullback whose light-footed energy, pace and deceptive strength help compensate for her small frame. She flies up and down the left side, getting involved deep in the attack and (almost) always making it back in time to defend. Her cross doesn't have much range, but she's pretty accurate when closer. Off the pitch, she collects antique Cosumarite dolls. According to her Instagram, she and her mom together have over 6000.

CB - Deirdre McNessa - 29 - Image Starling Image
McNessa came out of nowhere to make the WC 75 squad after Starling came out of nowhere to win the Nepharim Premiership. In the four years since, Starling and McNessa have proven to be no fluke, both player and club boldly cementing themselves at the top of the world game. As a top performer for the recent Multiverse champions, McNessa must surely go down as one of the best bargains in Nepharim history after Starling scooped her up as a free transfer. She actually had a promising early career in Cosumar, representing with our U23 and U21 sides while playing club ball for Pardock Island at their peak. But a slew of injuries sidetracked her development and Pardock Island ended up cutting their losses and letting her go when she just couldn't stay on the pitch. At a crossroads, she signed for some newly-promoted team in Nephara, hoping to catch on there... and you know the rest. Nepharim trainers worked wonders. She hasn't been hurt since and has maximized her early potential against all odds. In WC 75, she became the first female defender to earn a Cosumarite cap. In WC 76, she then became the first female defender to start a World Cup Finals match for Cosumar. Marvelous story. She is tall, slender, a good passer out of the back and fearless in the air despite her previous injuries.

CB - Taddeo Loredan - 28 - Creed United Image
One of the best defenders in the Harlighet Ligan of the last five years, Taddeo was unwaveringly loyal to boyhood club AC Holmenkollen through that time, turning down the deep pockets of Real Azuris and Cassandra City in recent windows. After guiding the Cedars to yet another stunning underdog UICA berth two years ago, he finally felt like it might be time to try to do it on a bigger stage. Creed United came calling and Loredan settled in nicely in the Nepharim Premiership. That move helped catch the eye of Nepharim manager Gethin Ramsey and Loredan made his Cosumar debut in WC 77. Level-headed and excellent positionally, Loredan usually has one of the lowest card totals amongst defenders. A strong, quiet leader.

RB - Tug Cooper - 22 - Image Ramusok United Image
The Ramusok United product is the latest player trying to make a smooth transition from Cosumar U21 to the senior team. A strong DBC followed by the best club season of his young career (Harlighet Ligan Best XI) saw him claim a place in Ramsey's WC 77 side, squeezing out trusted veteran Sheldon Serra for the first time in about a decade. His real name is Thon Cooper, but he was given the moniker 'Tug' by his coaches at United because of his incredible stamina (in Cosumar, long-distance racing horses are known colloquially as "tugs"). In addition to his renowned ability to run and run and never tire, Tug is a tenacious and tactically intelligent fullback versatile enough to help the team offensively and defensively. Goes forward more frequently and does so more effectively than starter Chisenhall, but isn't quite the lockdown defender. Still has the occasional lapses there, though they were minimized last season at United. Short and stocky with a barrel-like chest, shaggy greyish-brown hair and a smirking grin. Often cited as one of the funniest players on the team, with a clever, sarcastic persona in interviews.

CM - Denton Tapp - 26 - Image CA Paulinthal Image
Thanks to Pearce, the former Di Bradini Cup star is back with the national team for the first time since AOCAF 50. But really, it's thanks to his own hard work. Giving up his starting role at OAS Royal after he had just helped them restore their UICA status was an ambitious risk, but his desire to challenge himself in Pasarga finally payed off last year. Alongside Ragnar Targaryen, Tapp finally made his breakthrough at Pauli. And what a breakthrough it was, as he helped CAP score the most goals in the SuperLiga as an attack-minded center mid. Initially considered mostly a holding midfielder with limited ability going forward, Tapp surprised onlookers by developing a propensity for making timely plays in the opposition half. His energetic, ball-winning defensive style is still there, but he has also become a better conduit going forward, even tallying a bunch of assists and goals. A box-to-box midfielder in the truest sense of the word, as he can make the difference on both ends. Now with a clear identity and entering his prime, Denton has a chance to make a bold impression in this AOCAF and nail down a spot on Pearce's first World Cup roster.

CM - Tiffany Elam - 27 - Image Ibini FC Image
Tiffany is a true hustler in midfield - she just doesn't stop running. She's quick, pretty good at sweeping the ball around, and can surge forward or make a late opportunistic run into the box, but really she relishes the unglamorous work the most. Elam won her spot in the team after a great sophomore season in the Vanorian top-flight, helping Ibini claim 2nd place and never looking back. A constant feature throughout World Cup 76, she lost her starting place in the pecking order to Stig Söderquist in the camps leading up to WC 77, but she will still be an important part of the team. At age 18, Elam turned down the #1 medical school in Cosumar to pursue her soccer career, moving to Kernansquillec to join Project X. She was one of the program's first standouts, immediately being offered a contract upon graduation to join local giants Guingamp. In three seasons there, she became one of Kernansquillec's best players before moving on to Valanora. Elam was the captain of Cosumar's U21 side in two successful DBCs and transitioned seamlessly to the senior squad afterwards.

LM/AM - Mauricio Sigler - 30 - Holdenberg Image
Sigler has more than lived up to the hype since being labeled a teen prodigy in Zakhoro fifteen years ago. He crossed the line from "exciting young talent" to true stardom when he won Best Player at Cup of Harmony 64, and became a legend when he scored the stoppage time winner to send Cosumar to its first World Cup Quarterfinals past Valanora. And now he's the grizzled veteran of the squad as the only 30+ year-old called up! He is the most technical player in the squad, but he can also still beat defenders with sheer pace. He only just turned 30, after all. Sigler plays with a certain showmanship and swagger in every movement that is incredibly entertaining to watch. A versatile attacking force, he can play out wide on either side or as a central playmaker. Before becoming a featured player in Eura, Sigler played in countless Champions' Cups with Real Atlantea in Taeshan - his first move after propelling his boyhood Aces to their first ever top-half finish as a teenager. Still the only Cosumarite to play in the Euran top-flight, and was a finalist for Newcomer of the Year in his debut season there. Sigler is criticized for sometimes disappearing during the less important "filler" matches of tournaments, but he always wakes up and delivers on the biggest stages.

RM - Corey Simmons III - 25 - Image OAS Royal FC Image
Ah, it's good to see the famous Simmons clan in the team again. Corey III earned his first caps in WC 77, joining his father and grandfather in the annals of Dragons history. Whereas both Corey Simmons Sr. and Jr. were prolific strikers (combining for 60 goals in 125 caps in ten World Cups), CS3 is more of a tricky right-footed winger. An illustrious and confident dribbler, truly scary with the ball at his feet, but sometimes bites off more than he can chew and takes too many touches simply for the sake of showing off. Alexander Pearce will have to beat that out of him so he can be more efficient. He also needs to become a better two-way player & defender in this system. But Simmons III's skill is undoubted, and with his inherited pace and athleticism... his ceiling is very high. There's a sense that he only just started to tap his fullest potential in his first season at OAS Royal. This AOCAF will be another big learning experience for him under new management. He's a bad shooter from distance, frankly (though he doesn't think he is) but an excellent passer in the seams, crosser from the flanks, and penalty taker. Can act a bit of an entitled brat in the dressing room at times.

AM - Rowan Varghese - 26 - Image Pelethas United Image
Varghese is the name people were most surprised to see on Pearce's first team sheet, with the manager backing up his stated goal of getting younger and exploring new options by picking her over established older options Jo de Marisco and Augen Wittevrongel to back up Alora Heher. She brings something a bit different to the position than Heher though, as a pure goalscorer from midfield a la Lampard. She doesn't quite have Heher's creativity in providing for the others, but her movement is exquisite, she's pacy and she can hit the ball well. Her path to her first to get here, to her first call-up, is an interesting one. A Pelethas homegrown product, she became the subject of out-of-control local expectations after scoring a hat trick in the King's Cup at 16. Weighed down by "club savior" proclamations, she wilted and, by 20, was glued to the bench most matches. So she went away. To right here in Chromatika, where she played for Urrheddiao for three seasons, rebuilding her confidence and reimagining herself as a footballer. When the Chromatik league folded, she returned to Pelethas United looking like the star she was always meant to be. Last season was a career one. Partnering with Nepharim veteran Auburn Tarrant allowed Rowan's true quality to sparkle and she scored 11 goals from midfield. Off the pitch, her hobbies include photography and ballroom dancing (which her teammates constantly ridicule her for).

ST - Kathryn Kvanderwyk - 25 - Image Cornellians Image
Surprise, surprise. Alexander Pearce brings his trusty secret weapon with him to the national team from Cornellians. Kathryn is the younger sister (and club teammate) of starting midfielder Kit Kvanderwyk, but she's an individualist who has never felt overshadowed by her big brother or the necessity to compare herself to him - even while he was playing Champions' Cup with Cassandra City while she was still down in the fifth tier. Now that they're both stars together at Cornellians, their play styles contrast beautifully. Whereas Kit is all technicality and brains and composure, Kathryn is all pace and energy and heart. She's an energizer rabbit, seemingly always bouncing around the pitch with a spring in her step. She's not the most skilled with the ball, but she simply knows how to find space, make the right run and convert good service into goals at a steady clip. She's a bright presence in the dressing room too, bringing loads of character and high spirits. Kathryn will likely be a late-game impact substitute in this AOCAF, entering when her energy can devastate tired defenses. If her and Kit get on the pitch together, they'll be the first siblings to play together in the Dragonshirt. You have to think that's Pearce's plan, given the remarkable chemistry they've built up at Cornellians.

ST - Vega Zeale-Riddick - 20 - Image Samaj FC Image
One of the breakout stars of the most recent Harlighet Ligan season, the tall spiderlike center-forward took over the starting job while still a teenager as Samaj climbed to a historic 4th-place UICA finish. Something a surprise call-up. She was a lock for the DBC, but people weren't sure if she was ready for this level after just one great club season. It makes sense, however, in light of Pearce's focus on youth and exploration at this tournament, leaving home known commodities like Tevin Lilley. Plus she offers an aspect no other striker in the pool does right now: Height and aerial prowess. Towering over other players and with springs for legs, she's a bona-fide target forward. If tactics necessitate a more direct style of play, Pearce might just call Zeale-Riddick's number and let the aerial bombardment begin. She's also quite nimble for her size and can score with her feet from reasonable distance.

Staff

Manager: Alexander Pearce Image
Alexander Pearce, 47, is a Cosumarite legend at center back, and is now the fifth person to manage the national team - the first former player to do so. He has large legacies to live up to. Before him, Nepharim icon Gethin Ramsey held the job for five cycles and made five World Cup knockouts, also winning a Cup of Harmony. before that, Farris Crowley held the post for nearly 40 years and took Cosumar to its first six World Cups. What will Pearce's legacy be? Well, he's already proven to be quite gifted at building legacies. Just look at what he's done in Schottia with Cornellians: overseeing the club's transition from the Multiverse Premier League to the SPL and going on to dominate that league with five consecutive titles and earning it some UICA prestige. No one expects him to win five consecutive World Cups, but it's reasonable to expect great things. Pearce's credentials extend far beyond just being a once-great player. He possesses a well-rounded managerial skillset: studious tactical acumen, a creative eye for new talent, elegant motivational/persuasive speaking, effective organizational management and even shrewd handling of finances. Known for his ability to coordinate and guide others and have them listen. He comes from a family with deep roots in the sport and takes great pride in representing his family name and his country. In his playing days, he was a rangy, mobile defender who could play in the middle or at left back. He is a club legend at OAS Royal FC, joining upon the Harlighet Ligan's inception and playing at The Royal Palace for sixteen years, winning four titles. Afterwards, he became a player-coach in the MPL for Cornellians, which was his transition into coaching. He played in a desolate era for the Cosumar national team, but appeared in one World Cup finals and captained the side in WC 67 and 68 Qualifying. Full bio.

Assistant Manager: Casey Brind Image
With incumbent assistant manager Kennedy Kopenhaver bolting to fill the managerial vacancy at Mallox, Alexander Pearce has decided to recruit his assistant and ex-teammate from Cornellians to the cause. Casey Brind, now 39 years old, was a well-traveled midfielder in her playing days, which weren't too long ago, including stops at Iron City, Cranequin Wanderers, Raven River, Vermillion Rage and then ending at Cornellians. Pearce and Brind are well-oiled machine, a proven good team through recent glories at Cornellians. Brind will be hoping that the success translates to the international level, inspired by helping fill the void of Nepharim legend Gethin Ramsey. Maybe this is the start of a storied international managerial career of her own.

\Sport-Mitei\ ~ Reported by true sports fans, EVERY WEEK!

Defeat in hands of Oontaz ~ Worst start for Princip's Team?

In the first match against Oontaz Dert Li Ng, Komarov-Thomiya couldn't grab the three points in AOCAF LIII after a 3-2 loss although they did climb up back in the second half. Some fans believe that Audrei Princip could be sacked if the Vocaloid Army finish the competition in the last place, but all eyes are on the team's performance as well as Princip's coaching tactics and stragegy. One viewer for the first football match said 'I do not think that the I.T.F.A fire Audrei after this match. It's not like it's 10-2 to Oontaz,'

First Half:

Oontaz opens up a goal with main striker Godzilla (not to be confused with a kaiju!) scoring a volley after breaking through the defences in the 12th minute. He kicked it from a mile away and Shinzo couldn't make a save as the ball went past his gloves and eventually the net. Then, in the 33rd minute, left midfielder Zuqilfi bin Alisher completes the crossing from Godzilla with a beautiful diving header as his side were two nil up against Komarov-Thomiya.

However Oontaz were down to 10 men when Honesto 'Estong' Campanilla came too early to steal the ball from Raul Constatin. According to the replay, defender Estong did touch Raul's legs so the referee sent him off, much to the disbelief of him, his teammates and coach "Ador" Macaspac. The Vocaloid Army's chances were full of wide misses and an occassional offside, especially main striker Wolfgang Megurine's distance goal. The linesman calls it for an offside, but defender Etsuo Minase refuses to believe it.

Second Half:

Oontaz continues their dominance in the early minutes of the second half with three goals to none lead thanks to Godzilla and his quick reaction after being isolated in the defence line. He managed to create the space for his fellow teammate and right midfielder Haider Zulfikar to lob pass the ball to him and grab his second goal of the game. Just as the game restarted, it didn't take long for the captain and centre midfielder Tsung Nam-Kan to connect a through ball by Keiichiro Komura, flicked the ball upwards above Godzilla and launch a spectacular goal from afar, making it 3-1.

Between the 50th and the 80th minute, lots of shots have been attempted as both sides had taken advantage over another and goalkeepers saving every shot regardless if luck was on their side. A short fight broke out in the 88th minute after a brawl between Timothy San Marcelino and Yoshika Minase. Luckily, the referee later separated two players and dished both of them yellow cards for a fight. A free kick was given against the Vocaloid Army, with San Marcelino taking the spot. Nakamura blocks his shot and Keiji Hashimoto produced a powerful header. Oontaznik defenders are now scrambling for the ball but Nam-Kan jumped high enough to head in for Raul. Raul then made a run in the wide area and crossed in for a goal. Marco Portentio, without looking at the ball, somehow accidently back kicks to his own side. He never knew that he scored an amazing own goal.

The match ended with a 3-2 defeat over Oontaz. Tomikosan are predicted to be currently in the 4th or 5th position. Meanwhile, Osarius won a game against Eshan in a 2-1 thriller and newcommers Kyrgustan are beaten by Krytenia with a two goal lead.

The next game is against Kyrgustan, held in Riders' Arena. 'This is not a tough team to beat,' said Princip 'at least this 2nd match won't be rocket science,' he later added. Fans say that Komarov-Thomiya will beat them easily and no questions are asked. The underestimation of the team is unlikely judging by the teams peformance vs winners Krytenia.

Senator Revan Fitzgerald Bernat

Candidate Positions and History
A Future for All

My fellow Echani,

We are lucky to be living in a time where we may directly and forever shape the future of our great nation. In this modern world we live in, very few opportunities are presented for a nation to 'wipe the slate clean' so to speak. With the creation of a three-pronged government system, this first election is absolutely vital for setting the direction and tone we wish to take our great nation in. We have functioned well under a monarchy; we are presented with the opportunity to to function exceptionally as a shining nation that sets an example for Atlantian Oceania.

We are a nation with immense resources, from those naturally endowed onto us, to resources we can create with our exceptional industries, talent, and drive to succeed, and it is high time for our spirit to be harnessed for the greater good of all Echani peoples, not just a select few. We have a thriving, powerful economy with civil, social, and political rights for all, and yet there are those that seek to undo all of our fine qualities, those who desire personal gain and handouts for their white-collar backers.

I will be a voice for all, a champion for those who are lowest in our society and that demand our attention first and foremost. We must prioritize our aid, greatly reducing the attention we impart onto the corporations and 1% of our nation. It is time for them, time for the hectic, broken capitalistic system to work for the people. There is tremendous potential for social change and benefits with our system; I believe Eshan has much to gain from an attitude of 'Together, first' where we seek to be our neighbor's keeper, and aspire for a world boasting the equality of condition for all to pursue their dreams without limit. This is the Eshan I strive for, one where the benefits of social democratic policy are delivered unto all.

We are living in a brave world full of dangers; climate change, poverty and hunger, and the complex world of international affairs full of trigger happy nations ruled by psychotic dictators. I recognize that climate change and the dangers an unchecked economy can have on our natural world, and I can not stress enough the importance of conserving and preserving as much of the natural world as possible for our and future generations enjoyment. A RFB presidency will be a green one; sweeping renewable energy subsidies for energy production companies and generous micro-generation grants for households, aggressive emission and general environmental regulation, as well as large-scale green public works projects and expansive public transportation initiatives. The future is green, and we intend to position Eshan at the forefront of the new world. Poverty among our fellow Echani is something that can and will never be tolerated; I will aggressively act against poverty, social inequality, and ensuring that we continue to bring the bottom of our society up. With massive new investment in renewable energy and general infrastructure improvement, a vast number of jobs will be created, providing opportunities for all at every level of skill.

Finally, I wish to speak to you about my plans for foreign relations. The world is a dangerous place, with seen and unseen threats lurking around every corner. The core of government's responsibility, if nothing else, is the directive to provide protection for its citizens, and a Bernat presidency will take that to heart. It is only by dealing from a position of strength that Eshan can expect to successfully navigate the world, and to that end I am an advocate for a large, strong, robust national defense force that is capable of responding to all threats, although it is my intention to create a military that is powerful that the idea of interfering with Eshan or her interests isn't even a considered possibility. While I will always take the diplomatic course, the reality of the world is that words require strength and respect to give them weight. We are a proud, strong people, and the military must become an extension of that. We are far too underpowered to deal with the realist world we live in, and I will change that and bring a great power to Eshan the likes of which have never been seen before. I will make us strong, I will keep us safe, and that is a promise to the people and land I have spent my life with.

So work with me, join me and together we can fully realize the tremendous potential that lies within Eshan and her people. It is only be linking arms that we can pick up our fallen brothers and sisters and move forward as one people, social democracy is the way! I will make Eshan strong, equal, safe, and prosperous; A vote for RFB is a vote for all Eshan!

Sincerely,

Revan Fitzgerald Bernat, Senator of the Greater Eshan Party

It was Onyx's 23rd birthday today. Not only that, but it would be the final time he sees his family for at least a month. The competition in Chromatika was critical for the development of the national association, and yes, he usually attends them without hesitation. But it was just something about leaving Destiny that made him sorrowful. Once the Vans finish their time in AOCAF, Foster knew that he'd need to start looking at residencies and visas in Osarius following his new contract with Real Jraxville. It would not only mean he'd be moving hundreds of miles from the community he's learned to love, but moving across Atlantian Oceania would mean he had to leave behind his family in Qasden.

As he was crowded by family members, friends and teammates alike for the cake and song, he tried ever-so hard to hide a latent loss boy in need of guidance. While everyone was cheering and laughing, Onyx sat on the couch in silence, eating a decadent chocolate espresso cake with cinnamon-brown sugar buttercream, seasoned with his grandmother's love. It made him weep internally. "Is this the life that I've chosen?" He thought to himself.

Onyx excused himself from the party and went upstairs to conceal his flaming tears. He sighed loudly, attracting the attention of his aunt Sage, who had just left the bathroom. She looked down at the sitting Van and felt guilty for an unknown reason. "Onyx." She started, getting the attention of the forward. "Why are you up here alone? Isn't this your party?". "It's nothing, trust me." Onyx says in denial. "Onyx" Sage said once again at the teary-eyed fellow. "I think we both know that you come up here when you are stressed. What is causing you this emotional unrest?". Her voice was soother than silk as her mild drunkenness has turned her into a caring woman. "It's just," Foster broke, "I've been training since I was 5 to play Qad soccer, and to play as a starter on Opal.". Sage nodded for him to continue. "When I got to that point, I never imagined anything that could possibly be better. But then..." he paused. "I was given the offer in Osarius". Sage felt internally puzzled. "Are you saying you are upset because of your success?". Onyx wanted to argue otherwise, but could only nod to the ugly truth. "Why would you be sad? You just won a freaking Cup of Harmony as one of the best Qad goalscorers and nailed a deal with a club offering 20 mil for ya.". Onyx hesitated slowly before commenting. "Of course I'm happy about getting signed in Jraxville. I toured the area and it looked like a beautiful place to live. The only problem is that it's miles and miles away from y'all.". Sage eyes focused. "If it were a job somewhere in the alliance or southwestern atlantian oceania, then it wouldn't impact as hard, seeing as I'd be closer to home. But, to really think that I managed to get an offer from a UICA-strong club from a COCANEFA country while I'm still very young, it's just a little overwhelming, you know?". Sage tried to understand. "Hey, at least you're in the big leagues now.". She smiled and hugged him. "Onyx, your family supports you no matter where you go. Even if you ,went to go play in Rushmore, we'd root you on. Besides," she angled his head to face hers, "20 million could really help out your mother since the divorce.". Onyx smiled at the thought of helping his mother during a rough time in her life. He could even get her a nice apartment in T.V. City. "It just seems all so unexpected." Foster says to his aunt. "I mean, they definitely ain't no Alianza or Real Azuris, but to think that a nation that has won back to back AOCAF and World Cup titles has chosen me to play in their domestics.". Sage let out a small laugh under her breath and looked down at her hands. "You're a really talented guy, Onny. Never doubt yourself or your successes. The choice you made has allowed you to become the first of Qasden's original national team to fully sign with a foreign club. I mean, you've seen the interviews of Okasayo and Rybrett about their lives in Abaja and Preston's stories of his practices in Brenecia.". Onyx chuckled, "Yeah, Tex was really excited when he landed in Rozelle only to find a bunch of fans declaring him the "avenger".". "Would you like to open your present from me now?" Sage asks as she hands him a small crème envelope. He smirks gently and opens the gift, revealing a cute card of twenty-three kittens all saying happy birthday. He laughed and opened the card to read the message his aunt had left him. Along with it were two slips of paper. "What's this?" Onyx asked out of curiosity. "It's for you and your mother." she replies. "Sideline tickets to the IBC game against Spaam. Apparently their entire team is just a bunch of clones of Justen.".

Onyx hugs her tight as they both smile at each other. Getting up from the ground, the two walk downstairs and regroup with the party. A party that celebrated more than his birthday now.

Today was a bittersweet day for Oontaznik fans.

On this day, the national football team of the Sultanate of Oontaz finally won their opening match in an AOCAF competition. The win was against Tomikosan and the score was 3-2. That was cause enough to celebrate for the citizens of the Sultanate, or Oontazniks as they called themselves. But their celebrations were tempered by the fact that they could have easily won this game 3-0. Instead, Tomikosan got two goals in the second half and almost found a way back into the game. That wasn’t supposed to happen, the Tomikosan “almost” comeback. Oontaz had been set up to be solid on the back, and the two goals scored by Tomikosan on the bounce should never have been scored at all. Especially the second goal by Tomikosan, which was actually apparently scored by Marco Portencio as a spectacular own goal. Good thing Godzilla was able to do the job that he had been brought into the national team to do again but had not been able to for the past few years.

Godzilla (whose real name was Zito Leandro Gomes de Araujo and whose nickname came from the bony protrusions sticking out of his back, giving him the appearance of the ever-popular kaiju) was part of the so-called “golden generation” of Oontaznik football. His companions in this “golden generation” were fellow forwards Uziel Gal Tza’eer (who is more known for his incredibly handsome face and fit body which leaves men asserting that this is all “no homo” after stating statements to that effect about the man who was named after the creator of the Uzi submachine gun), Oren Ya’akovi (who looks like the legendary footballer Timo Skye down to the very long nose and man bun but not the talent level), and Juan Dominador Macaspac (arguably the most “basic” of the stars of the Oontaznik golden generation, with “basic” meaning just that, the simplest and no-fuss player in a team that had once been full of often-cantankerous talents. One could argue that Magomedun Mangudadatu should be included in the “golden generation” of Oontaznik players, and indeed many people do include Mangudadatu in their “golden generation” best elevens.

Unfortunately for Oontaz, they had not joined the international footballing scene until most of the members of the golden generation had finally peaked and were already on the slippery slope of decreased athleticism brought about by old age. So when the time came for Oontaz to finally integrate themselves into the greater sporting community, only two of the aforementioned members of the Oontaznik golden generation had been included into the national team assembled by Emir Usamah of Clan Andrade. And this was due to a combination of two factors: first, despite his assurances to contrary after a clearing-out of the federation following a long and drawn-out legal battle over graft and corruption charges, Emir Usamah’s Lions of Sand and Sea was still assembled based on clan lines which were very much a fabric of Oontaznik high society and of its nobility; hence, deserving players did not get into the first ever Oontaznik squad to participate in a World Cup cycle just because they were not part of the clans or were not supported by the proper clans. Second, when the time came for Emir Usamah to assemble his team, three of the five players mentioned above were suffering from some very poor form. Uzi Tza’eer had not been able to score in fifteen consecutive games for his club Arsenal de Releinthi. Uzi’s teammate in Releinthi Godzilla was also unable to score for seven consecutive games for the Gunners and there were also rumors that he was unsettled with his situation in the club (rumors which were quickly quashed when Godzilla finally signed a new contract at the beginning of April of that season). And Oren Ya’akovi, playing for Releinthi’s biggest rivals Riuwiee United, had also been relegated to the bench after a poor return of results (only 3 goals in 15 games) and was not expected to set foot on the pitch anytime soon during that time. So Emir Usamah decided to go with those players who were still scoring (Magoo Mangudadatu and Ador Macaspac being two of those players) and the rest was, as they say, history.

The first sign that the golden generation of Oontaz may have finally been past their prime was when a newcomer to the team, Haider Zulfikar, scored Oontaz’s first international goal in an internationally recognized game against Raltharan in the 61st Baptism of Fire. That game, it seemed as if every touch that Ador Macaspac had was awful to the point that despite being the team’s central forward, he was unable to record at least one shot at goal, let alone one on target. The decline of the golden generation was real, and it was all because the Sultanate of Oontaz decided to hold off on participating internationally until the golden generation had declined to such a point that there was no reason other than maintaining the legacy that they should even be part of the national team.

Fortunes changed for Ador Macaspac, at least for a little bit. He opened the scoring in a 2-0 win against Asuraia and scored the eventual game-winning goal in a tight 1-0 win against Eodor to sweep the group stage of the 61st Baptism of Fire with three games won out of three played and five goals scored for to none scored against. Then he went cold again Arioslavia which allowed that country to advance to the quarterfinals at Oontaz’s expense, winning the matchup 1-0.

Then, as expected, Ador Macaspac was the top goalscorer during Oontaz’s first ever World Cup qualification campaign. There was no expectation for them to make it to the World Cup proper at just their first attempt, and they eventually walked away with 5 wins, 2 draws, and 5 losses from the competition. After that the Lions of Sand and Sea were invited to the 66th Cup of Harmony where they lost against Ficiscia 1-0, won against Port Christopher 2-0, and collapsed against the Holy Empire 4-1 (well, losing against the Holy Empire was always expected, but what happened to the defensive solidity which Emir Usamah constantly espoused in his teams?). Because of these results, Emir Usamah was removed from the position of manager of the Oontaznik national football team by none other than Sultan Kudarat Oontaz himself. Immediately afterward (not really) Sultan Kudarat approached the recently-retired-from-playing-football Ador Macaspac and asked him if he wanted to manage the Lions of Sand and Sea. Ador was surprised by the offer but couldn’t find it in himself to refuse even though he was at the time a complete novice when it came to football management.

As of the moment, it had been a favourable arrangement for the former General Santos FC striker. In his first major competition in charge of Oontaz, they had made it to the playoff stage of the 50th AOCAF where they held on resolutely against Schiavonia and only succumbed after a penalty shootout. They had failed to make the grade in AOCAF 51, but that couldn’t be helped since they had the likes of Osarius and 95X in their group. Their third appearance in the competition, AOCAF 52, actually saw them through to the Round of 16 where they were drawn against powerhouses Osarius once again. There was nothing to be ashamed of about losing to a side which was separated from the Lions of Sand and Sea by a massive gulf in quality. And the Oontaznik people, both the Muslim Oontazniks and the Christian Mayins, had kept their expectations within reason. Getting through the group stage was already a considerable achievement for them; anything else beyond that was icing on the cake.

But there was still one question which bugged the Oontaznik fans: would the likes of Godzilla, Uzi Tza’eer, and Oren Ya’akovi still be able to find their way back into the Lions of Sand and Sea? In truth, Ador Macaspac had long thought about returning his fellow “golden boys” to the national team once he took over from Emir Usamah but had never really got around to doing it because the new Lions of Sand and Sea had developed an understanding with each other with regards to how they played their games, their tactics. Eventually, Macaspac forgot about returning the others to the national team until a chance encounter with Ya’akovi in Riuwiee had reminded Macaspac of that forgotten objective and he immediately told the three that they would finally be returning to the national team after four years’ absence. Macaspac even went so far as to tell Ya’akovi to tell his former Riuwiee United teammate Karim Ansarifarid (now playing in the Oontaznik First Division’s Pasargad Manitogoro) would also be restored to the national team. Ansarifarid was also part of the Oontaznik golden generation and had been left out of the national team by Emir Usamah because Ansarifarid decided to move back to Oontaz and Manitogoro instead of remaining with big, big Riuwiee United and Abanhfleft.

So once again it came back to the game against Tomikosan. Ador Macaspac felt that his team had dominated the game and done their best to bring about the result. Sure, the “collapse” in the second half (it wasn’t really a collapse in the sense that football commentators use it but a defensive-minded team like Oontaz really shouldn’t have conceded two goals like that) didn’t result in points being dropped by the Lions of Sand and Sea. Godzilla was at his usual stellar best with two goals and one assist (which he got by making the cross from which Zulqifli bin Alisher scored Oontaz’s second of the night). But there were a few problems with the performance which Macaspac hoped to address within the next couple of days. Most pressing of those problems was the issue of Honesto Campanilla’s ejection from the game following a tackle on Tomikosan’s Raul Constatin which the referee had judged to have been unsportsmanlike and with no intent to get the ball away from Constatin’s feet. Macaspac didn’t believe that the video replay told the whole story about Campanilla’s tackle on Constatin. Macaspac will appeal the red card and he hoped that the federation would back him despite what the video replay obviously showed as a studs-up tackle by Campanilla on Costatin. He really didn’t want to have to play Albert Dimacatarungan unless it was completely and totally necessary.

His second issue was with the young left back Marco Portencio. There were many ways for a defensive player to clear away a rampaging counterattack and back-heeling the ball right into the goal and away from the gloves of the keeper was not one of those ways. Ador Macaspac knew that he would have to have a stern word with Portencio. Perhaps it was also a good time for Jericson Sarimanok to finally step up for the national team instead of just spectating from the bench.

It was something to think about for the match against Osarius. Oontaz had been drawn against Osarius again. They were like the Bayern to Oontaz’s Arsenal, and the gulf in quality was just about the same as well. Oh, well. When life gives lemons, it’s good to make lemonade, but sometimes the lemons themselves are dried-out husks with little hope and juice left in them. Ah, being a football manager was never an easy task anyway. Juan Dominador Macaspac could only hope that the result wouldn’t be as bad as the proverbial paper suggested it would.

From the 95X Wire Service:
General Failure Manages 95X to 3-0 Victory
95X Goals: Yorkton :18, Roork :41, Morrison :62
95X Substitutions: Yorkton → Morrison :45, Sunray → Riverforest :54, Roork → Glenn :70
FELSWYR, CHROMATIKA—On a clear yet blustery ten-degree Celsius day at Frozen Stadium, 95X opened their AOCAF 53 performance by blowing past Taranga, three to zero. The 95Xers shined on General Failure's sideline debut, dominating possession time throughout the game.
Following the game, Wu Fivetwelve asked a sensitive question to Elyssa Scholls:

"Hello," Fivetwelve greeted, "I just want to ask if you're alright."

"Well, yes," Scholls dodged. "Why do you ask?"

"It was very windy today and to be honest you looked a bit out of shape while we were sitting there."

Scholls contemplated momentarily. She knew exactly what her longtime NT teammate was saying.

"I was going to wait until after the tournament," Scholls explained, "but I'm not going to keep a secret from you. I'm pregnant, and I'm going to announce my retirement."

"That's great!" Fivetwelve blurted. "Well, for you anyway."

"Despite everything going on, the team is in good hands," Scholls went on, while she praised Micah Morrison without naming him. "And that one guy's gonna be great if he can stay out of trouble."

"Well, wait until after then!" Fivetwelve asked. "Stick around, we win, and you're still part of the winning team!"

"Any good player needs game experience though," Scholls reasoned. "And one day he'll be too good to come off the bench."

Elyssa Scholls publicly announced her retirement the next morning.

Family Affairs

Chapter Two

“Now look, we’re about to go inside, but remember what I told you… Don't ask about the Reds and the Blues, don't bring up anything about FC Maris, and don't bring up anything about my teammates or my time there. You can talk about Glenham, the other club that I played for, but I don't want there to be fireworks and I don't want to mess this up after finally coming home,” Hiroyo Nunez said, staring at her boyfriend, Park Sang Chul, as he sat in the passenger seat of her sports car.

“Thanks for reminding me, but I'm not trying to embarrass you in front of your family. You need to relax, though. Visiting family is supposed to be fun, you aren't supposed to have to worry about saying the wrong thing or bringing up some wrong subject. That's what talking to the media is for,” Park said, and he put a hand on her shoulder and gave her a quick kiss before getting out of the car, followed by her as the two of them walked towards the large house in suburban Glenham.

“You don't know my family if that's what you're telling me,” Hiroyo replied, but she sighed and put on a happy face as she stepped onto the porch and knocked on the door, shifting as she waited and nervously putting a hand around Park and pulling him closer. “Or actually, you don't know the Reds and the Blues. It's not even my family that's the problem, everyone in these secret societies is crazy. That's why I told you that we aren't going to bring it up. We're going to pretend that we have nothing to do with that and we're going to change the subject as fast as they can if-”

The door opened as she was talking, and she stopped in mid sentence and put on a smile as none other than her mother, Elena, who was still looking like she was in top physical shape and who was wearing a green and black Glenham Athletic shirt despite it not being a match day or even a day during the season. “Hiroyo! It's great to see you again, baby! And I see you really did manage to drag your boyfriend here! I never thought you'd fall for a Janford boy, but I can already tell that you two are going to have great athletic kids-”

“Mom, don't embarrass me!” said Hiroyo, her cheeks reddening quickly when Elena mentioned them having kids. “And it was his idea to come, because he's never met you guys and he wanted to come here instead of going on vacation abroad to celebrate our Global Cup win. Do me a favor and don't get weird around him, alright?”

“I'll do my best… You picked a good day to come back, though, because we have some company over from… The society,” Elena replied, waving the two young lovers inside and waving them into the living room, where there were a few others that Park recognized as athletes hanging around. He spotted Olympic hockey players Corinne Winslow and Baron Reist, and also recognized his national team teammate, Maris Rovers midfielder Sasha Brewer. When he adjusted his vision and focused on what was right in front of him, he saw hockey star James Ando sprawled out on the couch in front of him, looking drunk.

“Sasha, I sure as hell didn't expect to come here and find you,” Park said, running over to his friend and bumping fists with him. “You're from the other side of Maris, it's a little unusual to see you visiting the Nunez family. You here because of the Blues-”

“Who told you about that, outsider?” snapped Baron, giving Park a shove that proved that he was stronger than he looked, knocking the Karakosa forward to the ground and getting ready to finish the fight, which he would have done if Corinne and Sasha didn't pull him away.

“Chill, B, I know this dude from the national team and he's real cool. He can know about all of this and he won't mess anything up for us. I vouch for him, because he practically saved us in the cup and we wouldn't have won it if it wasn't for him taking over as leader,” Sasha stated, moving to help Park up. “He probably learned about what's going on because of his girlfriend being into this through her family-”

“Gods, Park, I told you to not mention that!” Hiroyo shouted, growing frustrated as Elena watched from a distance and the other players looked between her and Park and themselves, with James Ando opening his eyes and looking around too to see what was happening. “You couldn't even go five minutes without bringing up something you're not supposed to know about or talk about!”

“Royo, stop freaking out, it's cool,” said Corinne, waving her hands to tell Hiroyo to stop shouting and calm down. “Seriously. I trust Sasha’s judgement, if he says that Park is fine then I believe him. Besides, I know Park’s story, and he seems like the kind of guy that would hate the Reds just as much as anyone else that's among us-”

“I don’t care, and that's the damn problem! I came here to relax and talk to my family after running off to Handon without a proper goodbye, not to get involved with this stupid fucking game of yours and this mess that's going to get one of us hurt!”

Hiroyo was ready to continue shouting, but she stopped when someone came down the stairs to the living room, looking to see what the commotion was. It was her father, Aki Nunez, and like her mother, he still looked like he was ready to play if a match broke out right now. “Ah, I never thought I would miss hearing you shouting, but I have to say, it's nice to hear that sound around the house again. It was getting terribly quiet around here since you moved out and stopped visiting, maybe we should have had another kid,” he said, speaking in a slow but clear voice that was both relaxed and somehow chilling at the same time.

He continued, in the same voice. “And I see you brought your boyfriend and already introduced him to this world of ours, this game that you claim to not want to play. But… You came here, meaning that you do want to play on some level. Hiroyo, welcome back. Park, welcome to the game. I'm sure you've heard a lot about me. But let's just say I'm interested in learning about you.”
