Caelestiam's National Motto is Carmen et Lux Spei Per Cālīginem Scindit. Translated to English that's "The Song and the Light of Hope Cut Through the Darkness." Caliginem, accusative of Caligo meaning three things: darkness, mist, or (figuratively), darkness of the mind, implied to mean evil, ignorance, or both.

The motto was said to have been uttered in the late 13th Century by Caelestiam's first King, Alain I. These words are taken to mean two things, that Caelestiam would rise against the adversity suffered by the many non-human races inhabiting the kingdom, and that the people would come to bring enlightenment to the world, effectively ending the Dark Ages.
