This is why I said "race as we understand it today". But the term for what the had then was more tribe or at least ethnolinguistic than race. There was a seperate tribal identity between the Hebrews vs Samaritans and so forth. It was based on culture, religion and so on, not mere physical appearances as there would be no real identifiable physical differences between many such tribes.
Though Jesus actually spoke against such tribal divides.

So certainly "whites should not marry blacks" as no basis in the Bible.
