You mean the guy who fought wars that Rome couldn't pay for? :^)

Of course, the guy who captures Rome with a handful of men and then defends it against overwhelming odds is the bad guy here. He should just killed Justinian and ran the show himself given what a total incompetent the Emperor was. In true Byzantine form, they abuse their best men and let chronic mismanagement fuck everything up.

Even though it contradicts just about everything we know about the late Roman Empire. Eisern Ara is actually pretty good about late Roman history. For one thing, the Foederati were actually more loyal than the regular Roman troops (i.e. they only rebelled when the latter went on a pogrom against their families).

Belisarius was a literal cuck who wasted all the gains he made thanks to his genius military abilities with his shitty political ones. Had he hadn't had such a stick in the ass, he could have made all these reconquests stay in bizantines hands.

Well, the first picture is actually a representation of the 1848's Révolution so a more accurate portrait for the RWDT would be this one.

Tbh, even as the residential 4Chan lingo expert, I am not sure if it counts as cuckholdry if the wife is raping the person cucking you. It's really complicated. I will have to think on this.

Hé, Procope de Césarée is fun to read, especially if you like anecdotes. He ain't Suétone nor Tacite tier but he still manages to make what he tell interesting.

Belisarius' second wife raped Belisarius son (with his first wife), who tried to escape, with his father's help, but he was kidnapped by her friends and basically kept as a sex slave.

No, the event from les Misérables you're thinking of is actually the "Trois Glorieuses" of the Révolution de Juillet which was a popular uprising in 1830 that ended the Bourbon reign and put the Orléans to the throne.

The rebellion in Les Mis was not the July Revolution. Pretantia has it right, Les Mis depicts the June Rebellion, which was a failed revolt against the monarchy which had been set up by the July Revolution.

Hum. My bad. This is still wrong, tho, as the painting is representing the Révolution of 1848, anyway.
