Personally, I say yes. Safer for the workers and it'll divert money away from organized crime.
No. What happens between consenting individuals in private is their business, so long as money is not involved. Once money is involved, however, it becomes a business and public "service," and is therefore within the purview of the State. Prostitution is inherently coercive insofar as that the person hiring the prostitute holds some advantage over them (i.e. they have money that the prostitute can only get by performing the "service" desired) and is therefore not comparable to other matters of private sexual morality where my personal inclinations may be conservative but where I would not seek to interfere with other people's decisions due to my somewhat libertarian-leaning attitude to State intervention in people's personal lives. The same goes for pornography, which should also be illegalised.
The argument that "it will still happen whether illegal or not" is a terrible argument against any law.

Literally proving the point that Chile is overused.

It indeed has limited its spread. Just as the severe repression of gays has and in some places in the ME still does. Whether or not it has any utility or gives a benefit is another argument entirely.
The question then becomes why you want to suppress people in the same manner homosexuals are in the ME. That, and what the actual issue you have with prostitution is - is it the crime it brings with it, or a religious reason?

If it doesn't work why were your lot crying about oppression? It's a false belief of modern liberalism that you can't suppress things with enough force. It's in the realm of myths like "pro-american middle class just waiting to be liberated". It sounds very nice but simply isn't true.
I don't think you even know what my lot is as I'm basically a libertarian.
